Back in 1950s, my mother used to tell us that we couldn t speak in Mayangna out
loud, because people would call us el sumito, el indito. If we thought and spoke as
Mayangnas, we could be locked up (that is what she told us). But now with the
struggle of Indigenous Peoples, now with publications about Indigenous Peoples, we
can speak in public in our language. We now confront, however, new threats: we can
lose our identity, losing our land, our traditional medicines with the introduction of
transformed seeds, and the imposition of another identity. 1
This comment by one of the subjects interviewed reveals the continuation of
expressions of discrimination in the daily life of Indigenous communities in the

Magna Carta Outline
800 years ago in 1215, some noblemen in England were very unhappy with the way
in which their king was treating them. So they went to the king with a list of
demands they wanted him to agree to. This agreement was written in Latin and
called Magna Carta, which means great charter. This 800 year old document has
helped shape the world we live in today. Over the next few weeks of this This may
look like a plain, unassuming piece of parchment, but it s actually one of the most
famous documents in the world. Magna Carta, meaning the Great Charter, has
inspired people across the centuries from Thomas Jefferson to Mahatma Gandhi. But
why was the charter originally created? And what does it actually say? Let us take
you back to mediaeval England.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If they refused to pay, he d punish them severely or seize their property. The barons
demanded that King John obey the law. When he refused, they captured London.
And John was forced to negotiate. The two sides met at Runnymede in June 1215.
The result of the negotiations was written down by the King s clerks into the
document we know as Magna Carta. Although most of the Charter s clauses dealt
with mediaeval rights and customs, Magna Carta has become a powerful symbol
of liberty around the world. The most famous clause, which is still part of the law
today, for the first time, gave all free men the right to justice and a fair trial. No
man shall be arrested or imprisoned except by the judgement of their equals and by
the law of the land. To no one will we sell. However, this clause was not as liberal
as it sounds. The Charter only applied to free men. The vast majority of people in
1215, were un free peasants who were ruled over by their landowners. And although
Magna Carta was intended to create peace between King John and his rebellious
barons, England was plunged into civil war after the Pope declared the Charter
Theodore Roosevelt s Accomplishments
Twenty sixth U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt, the man the teddy bear was
named after, was one of the most influential presidents in American history.
Roosevelt was forty two when he took office, succeeding the death of President
William McKinley who was shot and killed. Roosevelt was a very young president
at the time, in fact, one of the youngest. His young age worried many people, but he
still brought many very strong credentials. Before Roosevelt took office he had about
twenty five years experience in politics. Roosevelt was a very argumentative person,
some say to an annoying extent (Carnes and Garraty 556). Carnes and Garraty

Carnes and Garraty state he was a very intelligent man, experienced in business
matter and knowledgeable in economics, (671). Throughout the Depression he did
not show his knowledge in economics or experience in business at all. He was very
selfish when it came to deciding how the depression would be resolved. He did not
really care about others opinions or what resolutions they had to offer, whether it
was from an expert opinion or not. Hoover refused that federal funds be used for
the relief of individuals, even though the national government solely had the power
and credit to deal with the problem (Carnes and Garraty 672). Hoover tried to stress
that funds needed to be balanced, meaning that people who had the extra money
needed to donate it. This did not work because people did not trust his plans and
they were not going to get anything out of it. During this depression President
Hoover was not open minded enough. He relied too much on his own decisions and
did not take others into consideration. Hoover failed to bring back the economy and
instead of sympathy he portrayed resentment against his concerns (Carnes and Garraty

Abstract Data Clustering is key point used in data processing algorithms for Data
Mining. Clustering is a data mining technique used to place data elements into related
groups without advance knowledge of the group definitions. Popular clustering
techniques include k means clustering. Clustering is imperative idea in data
investigation and data mining applications. In last decade, K means has been popular
clustering algorithm because of its ease of use and simplicity. Now days, as data size
is continuously increasing, some researchers started working over distributed
environment such as MapReduce to get high performance for big data clustering.

The Religious Beliefs Of Guru Nanak Dev Ji
Guru Nanak Dev Ji formed the monotheistic faith, Sikhism in the fifteenth century
(Sikh Beliefs, n.d.). Sikhs believe that Guru Nanak Dev Ji, along with the following
nine Gurus, was sent by God himself to deliver His message (Sikh Beliefs, n.d.). In
addition, Sikhs believe that a single spirit inhabited all ten Gurus (McLeod, 2017).
Furthermore, beliefs include that upon the death of the 10th, Guru Gobind Singh, the
spirit of the eternal Guru transferred itself into the scripture of Sikhism(McLeod,
2017).
Like Christianity, Sikhism recognizes that there is only one God; however, Sikhs
believe that a believer s salvation depends on their mystical union with God (Brodd,
2015). Although some mystical concept of God is present within Christian belief,
such as Saint Teresa of Avila, for the most part, Christian s maintain a clear cut
distinction between God as Creator and human beings as one of God s creations
(Brodd, 2015). Furthermore, Sikhs view God as shapeless, timeless, and sightless
while Christians maintain an image of Jesus as the God (Sikhism vs Christianity,
2010).
Religious views of the purpose of life also contrast. Sikhs lifestyle was created by
Sikh Guru. Overall, Sikhism has based on the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev as well
as the following nine gurus (Sikhism vs Christianity, 2010). Teachings are compiled
within the Holy Book known as the Guru Granth Sahib, which serves Sikhs eternal
guru (Sikhism vs Christianity, n.d.). In addition, decreed by
Archetypes In The Grapes Of Wrath
John Steinbeck s The Grapes of Wrath, a universal, timeless tale of everyday people
and their struggle, has impacted the American consciousness and ethical standard
since its publication in 1939. Steinbeck s writing utilizes common, everyday, but
deliberate word choice, made thought provoking and pervasive by syntactical
arrangement. This effective aspect of Steinbeck s language, sentence structure, gets
the reader thinking about various common themes such as man s inhumanity to
fellow man, altruism, group vs. individual, gender roles, and family dynamics in
ways in which he or she has not previously experienced. This characteristic of his
work, how his unsophisticated structure catalyzes new, innovative approaches by the

Ma Joad, the citadel of the family, who teaches Tom the importance of empathy and
understanding for humankind, is the most consequential character to the
development of the major themes of the novel (74). Although women s roles in the
novel are limited to the nurturing wife and mother archetype, in the comprehensive
view of the study of the novel, Ma Joad s work in keeping the family whole, loving
Tom, and advising Rose of Sharon allows Steinbeck to put into question the fallacy
of entrenched power. Ma s role in the novel serves to help the author criticize
dictatorial masculinity by emphasizing the importance of emotion, female insight,
and coordination. A character that did not serve to enhance the understanding of the
thesis includes Noah, who did not add to or take away from the portrayal of any
major themes. When he walked down the river away from the family to embark on
his own it did not affect the progression of the plot greatly. Characterization, in
addition to plot, language, and good writing all affect the validity of the

The Transition Of Our Society Essay
The smooth transition of our society, from nomadic groups to vilages and states,
resulted in the development of religons, as a result of reformed social and political
environments. Where it started of as other wordly beliefs adopted by the small
nomadic group and slowly developed into full blown religions over time.
The earliest evidence of religon found in the world was in the Neolithic Period . The
figurines found from that period, along with the religious texts, reflect a society of
religious people. In buddhism religon, there are twenty five buddhas, each of whom is
known as Dipankankara, with the last one known as Guatama . There is also
Maitreya who is the buddha for future. In Mahayana Buddhism, there is a Buddha
known as Manushi Buddha who is referred to as a human buddha and five to six
types of Dhyani Buddha known as mediation buddhas.Islam on the otherhand is a
monotheistic religon, where there is only God. He is referred to as Allah. the founder
of islam, Prophet Hazrat Mummad P.B.U.H. who is the last prophet.

the shrine of Sir Thomas Beckett. Chaucer uses many different methods to
describe his characters. To describe the squire, he chooses to focus on his
appearence, his abilities, and his sexuality but the more that is revealed about the
Squire s character, the more likely it seems that his talents lie elsewhere than on the
battlefield. Many lines are dedicated to his appearence. It is made apparent that he

Jonas Salk Accomplishments
In the medical field, there have been many achievements by both men and women.
Whether it was developing, discovering, or being the first person to do something,
they all shared an impact on the way the medical field is today. I researched Jonas
Salk, the man who developed the Polio vaccine. I selected him because I believe he
has one the of biggest impacts on the medical field today. In my opinion, without
him, the Polio epidemic would still be killing many people, in not only the U.S., but
around the world as well. Jonas Salkwas born on October 28, 1914, in New York.
He grew up with parents who had never finished school. His parents had always

He knew that Polio caused paralysis, and invaded the nervous system. As a result,
he wanted to end the greatest epidemic in America at that time. As he began
researching, the president of the March of Dimes Foundation, Basal O Connor,
wanted to help Salk create the Polio vaccination. His goal was to fund Salk to find a
cure against Paralytic Poliomyelitis, or Polio. Jonas devoted the next 8 years of his
life working to develop the vaccine. He finally was able to create the vaccine, using
formaldehyde, or a chemical compound. Salk used the killed Polio virus to
immunize without being infected, or becoming infected after the injection. Soon
after the vaccine was created, they began to test it on monkeys; and then they
tested it on children who already had Polio at the Watson Institute. After that trial
was done, the testing spread to volunteers who wanted the vaccine; this included
Jonas, his wife, and his family. By 1954, national testing began on children
between the ages of 6 9. On April 12, 1955, they were able to conclude that the
vaccine was safe and effective. Salk became known as a miracle worker, although
he remained selfless. Jonas wanted no major payment, or recognition for the creation
of the vaccine. In fact, he credited that the vaccine creation was accomplished due to
the help of John Enders, a Harvard researcher. Enders was the man

will be no product creating a loss. Many new proposed laws for 2011 are in the

to handle them. Outsourcing in the near future will be focused on smaller projects
while using more suppliers. A reduction in large contracts is the goal for many, which
in turn will leave more opportunity for entrepreneurs and even larger organizations.
The benefit is, more options will be available and the contracts can be closely

Regards to the American WorkerDisposition of Offshore Outsourcing The United
States is one of the largest powers in the world when it comes to offshore
outsourcing. However, many economists wonder if it is actually beneficial or
destructive to the American workforce. One of the more predominant reasons
outsourcing has become popular is due to overall savings of costs. These cost
savings have proven to raise overall productivity, and have allowed everyone from
small business owners to corporate giants to advance into the next generation of
technology. Some economists classify offshore outsourcing as international trade
between countries leading to a large profit margin for both parties included. Gregory

Example Of Naturalistic Observation
A. A naturalistic observation is a form of research that takes place in the participant
s own environment. This could be the participant s workplace or a child s home.
Another form of observation that was also conducted was covert observations is an
empirical research were the participants don t know when they are being observed.
Covert methods in general has always been contentious, on the basis that you can
mislead the participant of the study. However, they offer access to information that
would otherwise be nearly impossible. Regarding this, the subjectthat I ve decided to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Cape Gauge For The
New...
Choice of gauge for the new railway line A South African provincial administration
has decided to build a railway, 80 km long between two cities. The provincial
administration has recommended using either Cape gauge (existing railway
gauge in South Africa) or European gauge (also called the Standard gauge). A
railway gauge is the distance between the inner sides of the heads of the two
parallel rails that make up a single railway line. This essay will evaluate the
advantages and disadvantages of two gauges then a recommendation on the type
of gauge to use. There are two important things to consider when selecting a gauge,
which are cost and heritage. The use of cape gauge A cape gauge is a railway
gauge with a distance of 1067mm between two inner sides of the two parallel rails
that make up a single railway line. It is the commonly used track gauge in South
African railways. They are cheap to build because cuts and fill are smaller, they
require less earth moving and blasting. The cape gauge requires small tunnels
meaning that the basting required is also less and the sleepers are also less
expensive. This gauge is also build with smaller radius curves and smaller structure
gauges. The cape gauge is also easy to maintain, meaning that the operation cost are
also less. This makes them to be economically viable in the populated areas.... Show

The train travelling on cape gauge are likely to be slowly but the tracks can be
aligned precisely to increase the speed of the train. The maximum speed the train
can reach when travelling on a cape gauge track is said to be 130km/h, but most of
them are likely to be slower than this. The cape gauge does not allow future
increase in speed if the train (vehicle) is to be changed. Passengers tend to feel less
comfortable when travelling with a train that uses cape gauge. The loading and off
loading is usually slowly as the platform level and the floor levels are not perfectly
Isolation, Loneliness And Symbolism In Hands, By
Sherwood...
Symbolism is very crucial in literature, especially in short fiction. In the short story
Hands, by Sherwood Anderson, Anderson gives a perfect example of symbolism. In
the story Hands, Anderson uses symbolism of the hands of Wing Biddlebaum to
show the meaning of the story. Anderson explores the theme of isolation and
loneliness, through the symbolization of Wing s hands. By Anderson writing Hands
is showing how the protagonist hands symbolizes the many ways of him feeling
isolated and lonely in Ohio. The main character, Wing Biddlebaum, formally known
as Adolph Myers, was accused of inappropriately touching the young boys he used to
teach in a town in Pennsylvania. After the fathers of the young boys found
Harriet Tubman Greatest Achievements
What Was Harriet Tubman s Greatest Achievement?
I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery. Thomas Jefferson once said.
Harriet Tubman was a strong and brave African American woman. She was born in
Dorchester County, Maryland. She grew up in Bucktown, Maryland. She grew up
like a neglected weeds (Background Essay). It showed that her childhood is not
very lovely. At the age of 12, she was doing field work and hauling logs. When her
master died, in 1849, she makes her life changing decision, I had reasoned this out
of my mind; there was one of two things I had right to; liberty or death; if I could
not have one I would have the other (Background Essay). This showed that she is
going to fight for her and others freedom but if she does not get freedom then she
would get death. Although Harriet Tubmans achievements as a caregiver in Upstate
New York and being a spy leader of the Combahee River raid were important, but
her achievement of being a conductor of the Underground Railroad was the
greatest. One of Harriet Tubman s noteworthy achievements was her work as a
caregiver in Upstate New York. She cared for the needy people, The aged, ... the
babe deserted, the epileptic, the blind, the paralyzed, ... all found shelter and
welcome. (Doc E). This showed that she cared and welcomed all kinds of people.
Much of Harriet Tubman s time spent taking care of the poor people in her home.
Harriet often had six to eight people in her care. (Doc E) This showed

Polar Express is a classic children s Christmas story written by acclaimed author
Chris Von Allsburg. Chris Von Allsburg writes and illustrates all of his books and
won the Caldecott medal for The Polar Express. The Polar Express is a Christmas
story of getting a kid to believe in Santa. The boy climbs aboard a train to go to the
North Poleto see Santa. He is the one chosen to receive the first gift of Christmas,

Also in the movie the train almost had an accident unlike the book. They put this
in the movie so it could build up to that scene as a climax to scare the viewers that
something might happen. In the trailer for the movie, it even shows the train
getting into an accident so the viewers will want to go see what happens to the
train. As well as the movie adding the songs, it also added the kids getting a
special ticket. Each child had a certain a letter at the beginning of their train ride,
punched by the conductor. When the kids were done experiencing the North Pole,
the conductor punched out a word pertaining to each kid. The main kid got the
word believe punched into his ticket because he did not believe in Santa at the
beginning of the movie. The African American girl got leader punched into her
ticket because she was the one that always knew what to do. The poor boy, Billy,
also got believe because he didn t think Santa was real either. This leads into the
most important difference between the book and the movie. In the movie it depicts
that going to the North Pole to see Santa was all a dream, while in the book it made
it all seem real. When children go see this movie, they might think that since the boy
is having a dream that Santa must not be real. A lot of research has been done about
kids believing in Santa. Gail Vines wrote about the Santa delusion from psychologist

The Theory Of Operant Conditioning Theory Essay
Burrhus Frederic Skinners, also known as B. F. Skinner, was a well known
American psychologist who came up with the idea of what is known as operant
conditioning (Rholetter, 2013). Operant conditioning is one of two theories in
learning that illustrates behaviorism (Kretchmar, 2015). It is according to Rholetter
(2013), the idea that behavior is the learned result of consequences . Skinner
believed that learning during operant conditioning is done based upon the outcome
of a given situation (Lefrancois, 2012, p. 91). His operant conditioning theory is
constructed on reinforcements consisting of positive, negative, primary and
secondary, punishments pertaining positive and negative and reinforcement
schedules which includes ratio, interval, fixed and random schedules (Lefrancois,
2012, p. 93 96.). Skinner s operant conditioning theory first revolves around
reinforcers and reinforcements. Skinner according to Lefrancois (2012, p. 91),
defines a reinforcer as an event that follows a response and that changes the
probability of a response s occurring again . The conclusion of a given reinforcer is
then the reinforcement. Both positive and negative reinforcements are used to
strengthen one s behavior (Lefrancois, 2012, p. 91). They are also used to increase
an anticipated behavior (Rholetter, 2013). In order for there to be a positive
reinforcement, there needs to be a stimulus present after a certain response occurs.

Weaknesses Of Ford Motor Company
Strengths The brand name of Ford and its loyal following of its well renowned
product line are strengths in the industry. Ford has long held the crown as the seller
of the top selling truck line in the U.S. The Mustang and the Taurus product lines
have long held iconic status in the automobile industry. Ford is also known as an
affordable American brand with international appeal.
Weakness One of the weaknesses is higher cost compared to the competitors such as
General Motors and Chrysler. In addition, Ford has an abundance of an expensive
supply of vehicle models that cost to maintain. Ford is also known to have bad
financial management and late in innovation.
External Opportunities The Ford Motor Company has the opportunity to sell off non
core brands that are not generating enough revenue. It has the opportunity to enhance
the brand in emerging economies and create innovation for new models like hybrids,
electric, and hydrogen cars. They also have reduced levels of debt.
Threats Huge debt and pension liability are one of Ford Motor Company s threats.
Fierce competition in the global market, global slowdown in car consumption and
increasing raw material prices are additional threats that Ford must face.
Problems at Ford Motor Company
A major part of a company s reputation is how the company handles their problems,
including the opinion of others. Although Ford realizes the majority of the profits
come from North America, the second largest automaker in Detroit

In this paper, I will be doing just that; I will be analyzing documents about climate
change. As climate change is a controversial topic, there are many sides to this
subject. I will be analyzing science based articles from NASA, and NOAA and
comparing them with the views of scientists, and popular news outlets. What are
climate and climate change? The definition of climate is rarely disputed; according
to NASA, climate is typical or average weather (Dunbar) Climate change, however,
has a different definition depending on where one gets their information. NASA
describes climate change as: range of changes that are happening to our planet.
(Global Climate). However, if one looks to another news outlet, they would get this
definition: Global Warmingis a sham... A sham perpetuated by a network of dirty
government officials, greedy corporations, and bought off scientific organizations
(Scientist Confesses). The difference is in not only information being given, but how
a rhetor presents the information. When NASA is outlining definitions, they are
straight to the point; they have an idea to present, and they present it. This is
drastically different from the Newsmax source. In this source, there is little to no
mention of climate change until page 3 of the article to find what the article is even
about, one must sift through page upon page of imaginative situations and economic
statistics. When reading
Cultural Aspects Of Guatemalan Culture
The Guatemalan Culture (also known as Chapines) has many improvements to be
made, but they are still more stable than other cultures. There are many cultural
aspects to the Guatemalan way of life. The culture comes from Mayan and Spanish
influences. Guatemala is a beautiful city that borders mexico to the south in Central
America. Almost half of their population lives in Urban areas and they speak two
different languages. People first started living in this area around nine hundred A.D.
The average american would not understand the way of life in Guatemala. The
Guatemalan culture is very different than the American culture. They eat and drink
almost the same food as us but at different times. Almost every meal in Guatemala
consists of black beans, white rice, and corn tortillas. Their breakfast is a little
different then us as they eat scrambled eggs with fried plantains. Fresh fruit is very
common as they love it in Guatemala. The country s favorite meat are chicken and
beef. These meats and all other meats are usually salted and put in chili sauce. There
traditional snacks are tamales and empanadas. They usually drink weak coffee with
little milk along with their meals. They also love having fruit juice mixed with water
or milk. In Guatemala they can t drink their tap water because it s not clean which
could result in upset stomach or infections. Guatemala has similar foods to us but
they still don t have the amount of food or sanitation we have in America.

Review Essay Ankita Saikia (ID: W1189198) Introduction: In Donaldson s notion
of an Ethical Wealth of Nations , he talks about an ethical advantage of nations,
and, how ethical values play an important role in molding the foundation of
economic prosperity of nations. In the essay by Professor Jennings, he makes an
attempt to extend Donaldson s work and fill in some of the loopholes in the latter
s theories. The three major points made in his essay are: 1. Institutions play a vital
role in the manner in which ethical values drive a nation to economic prosperity. 2.
Ethical values, in order to be a driving force for economic prosperity, must not only
be intrinsically valued but must be fully interwoven in the institutional fabric of the
society. 3. The moral education of future business leaders should be focused on
instilling in them a mindset comprising of a sense of responsibility for advocating
and preserving the ethical character of society s institutions. After a critical analysis
of the essay, I stand in agreement with the major points. In addition, I feel that it is
the moral education in society which is the founding stone of economic prosperity of
nations, since, moral education will lead to developing the ethical factors which are
essential for boosting the economic prosperity. Role of Institutions: Donaldson s
typesetting of ethical factors seems to be missing a very significant aspect of the
society, which is closely linked

The Negative Speech On Famine And Drought
Introduction: (Charlotte)
We would like to begin by thanking the United Nations for giving us this
opportunity to speak. Joining me today are Julia Antony, Ian Rose, and Ryan
Amer. We are here to discuss the large topic of famine and drought. Drought is
defined as, A long period of time during which there is very little or no rain (First
picture). These two problems alone are some of the largest overarching issues that
our world is facing right now and have been for centuries. At this stage, no one can
ignore the fact that 110 people have died in the last 48 hours at the hand of famine
and drought. (Second picture) Not to mention that in Somalia, more than 900,000
children are malnourished; that alone is more than the entire population of children
in Connecticut. Now over to you, Julia. *transition to next slide. Body 1: (Julia)
Thanks Charlotte. Extreme rain loss in areas all over the world causes intense
droughts. Multiple complications occur when water is no longer abundant. One
of the most severe conflicts caused by this terrible drought is famine. Famine,
described as an extreme scarcity of food, affects over 6.2 million people in
Somalia alone. We are still trying to work out how we ended up here, what we
missed, what we did wrong , announced UNICEF senior nutrition manager Peter
Harris. ( A Famine We Made , researchIT CT) Additionally, if not helped, it is said
that over 100,000 Somalis will die in the next few weeks. Little aid is being received

Benefits Of Developing Marketing Strategies
When developing marketing strategies, using a benefits approach is often
considered the best way to go. Because of this, the advantages of a features
approach, or even a combine approach, are overlooked. This report looks deeper
into both a benefits approach and a features approach in order to determined which
approach is the best option for Big Iron. In order to answer this question, several
questions were addressed: what are the advantages to a benefits approach; what are
the advantages to a features approach; what are the disadvantages to strictly using one
approach, and; what are the benefits to using both? In order to answer these questions
primary research, analysing the major automobilemanufacturer s advertisements, was
conducted. Ten ads from a variety of companies were analysed by asking the
questions: what type of approach, benefits, features or both, are the major vehicle
manufacturers using in their advertisements; What are the benefits appealing to, and;
what do the features say about the products? Determining the target audiencewas also
a part of the analysis, as all are advertisements should be audience specific.
Secondary research was also conducted in order get a better understanding why the
major automobile manufactures prefer a specific approach. Based on the research
that was conducted, it is recommended that Big Iron use both a benefits approach
and a features approach for number of reasons. 1. Both a benefit and features
approach, have

John Reflection
The main purpose of the Book of John is to deliver the news of salvation to readers
(Elwell Yarbrough, Encountering the New Testament: A Historical and Theological
Survey, 101). Moreover, John includes Jesus performance of nine extraordinary signs
that the author and many other people observed during Christ s ministry on earth.
Their testimonies show readers that JesusChrist is the almighty Son of God, and His
wonders displayed His greatness. During Christ s time on earth, He served as a
role model and provided teachings that serve as the basis that Christians still
follow. Jesus served many roles, such as a teacher, servant, healer, and helper. Yet,
many people were in awe of Jesus great power in John, and the eyewitness
accounts, which portray the life of Jesus in this Gospel, inspired others to follow
Christ (Encountering the New Testament: A Historical and Theological Survey,
97). Jesus miracles in John include: turning water into wine, healing people,
feeding the five thousand, walking on water, resurrection, miraculous appearance
of the fish, and raising Lazarus from the dead (Holy Bible, John, 2 21). The first
marvel Jesus performed was when He changed the water into wine. Jesus and His
disciples attended a marriage ceremony in Cana in Galilee, and Jesus mother
informed Him that they drank all of it. Several pots were available. Thus, Jesus
instructed the servants to fill up several containers of water and take some of it out to

Speech On Racism In Schools
No one is born racist however, everyone is a little racist, and anyone who disagrees
is simply in denial. At what point do we go from not being racist to being racist?
In schools, people find friends that they seem to have similar qualities too, now the
easiest quality to see is skin color. I am not saying that kids go to school when they
are six and decide that they aren t going to be friends with someone because they
are a different skin color. I am saying that groups of friends might not associate with
another group of people because Now, I know that everyone is not an extreme racist,
but we all have a little bit in us. One thing I don t understand is why? Throughout the
class that we talked about this, one thing that we agreed on was that we find things
racist because we all have a different understanding of what raceis. Everyone gets
offended from different things. The work honkey might offend me, but might not
offend the person next to me. One thing I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, if we want to see change in the future, we need to start the change now.
Starting to teach racial equality earlier, will not hurt them. Educating children just on
the things that Martin Luther King Jr., or Malcolm X did is not enough. Kids need
to be taught that a person with a different skin color, ethnicity, or religion needs to be
treated the same as everyone else. Requiring students to take ethnic studies classes
will help to eventually put an end to racism. Saying that kids won t understand racial
equality, if they re taught it, is unfair. Children s brains are like little sponges, they
have the ability to soak in knowledge like that s their job. I think that it would be
easier to teach a child not to discriminate, than an adult. Kids have minds that are
clean from racism, it would make sense to teach kids that racism is bad, before it has
an opportunity to make its way into their
Imperialism And Colonialism In America
(d). Speak softly and carry a big stick you will go far. These are words said by
President Theodore Roosevelt. Indeed, the big stick was a naval force sent by
Roosevelt on a world tour to show the might controlled by the United States. The
Machiavellian ideas expressed negotiating peace while simultaneously threatening
with military power. This decisive action mentality portrayed the exercise of striving
for peace, while maintaining the intelligence of having back up power to support any
unknown future problems.
(e). Colonialism is the process and establishment by a political power a colony in one
territory from another territory. It also involves subsequent expansion, maintenance,
and exploitation of the colony. The term is also describes a set of unequal
relationships in between the colony and the colonial power. Often, it s between the
indigenous people and the colonialists. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Imperialism in America is the philosophy that the United States uses to control and
affect the other countries. It is military, cultural and economic philosophy. This term
of domination has been applied in the 19th and 20th centuries. This influence is
closely associated with into foreign territories expansion. Different scholars and
philosophers view this term differently. For example, in a Marxist, communist point
of view, imperialism would be viewed as part of a capitalist state, whereas others
view it as organized domination with the use of military power. Throughout history, it
is easy to say that the U.S has used imperialist ideologies to expand their
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD)
There are many different types of learning disorders in the world today. The two
most common are ADHD (Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder), ADD
(Attention Deficit Disorder). Today s classrooms have changed drastically since
the 1950 s. Some of the differences would be class sizes, technology, and learning
disabilities. One of the biggest changes in today s education world is the abundance
of students with some sort of learning disability. Studies have showed that there are
more and more ways to help deal with kids that can t seem stay focused. There are
many different ways that teachers can handle students with a learning condition. The
three newest types are allowing kids to work around the classroom for work/sitting in
different styles... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But I also build in transitions every 15 minutes or so that require movement (to get
into groups, turn something in, write on a paper covered wall, etc). I have little to
no fidgeting problems or issues with attention loss. (Gonzalez). the first thing that
needs to happen for Albemarle teachers to successfully create a flexible classroom
is: The teacher must have a vision for his or her room. He/she must be willing to
say, I m going to throw out some of this stuff. I don t need this traditional schooling
equipment. When kids move around the room, it allows them to feel more at
home. Think about it, when kids are at home doing homework, they aren t sitting
at a desk. They are either at the kitchen table, couch, in their bed, or on the floor.
They aren t sitting at a desk sitting on a hard chair. They more than likely can sit
more comfortably while doing work at home vs when they are at school. The
students can have a choice of clipboards, the floor, end tables, coffee tables to write
on when they re moving around the classroom (Gonzalez). This makes it easier for
the students to write when they re getting comfy around the room. The average
attention span of an eight year old is 6.26 seconds (Ismall). So clearly, that doesn t
give a lot of time to engage a kid and get them involved in an activity. The key to
getting a student involved, is keeping them interested. If a child isn t interested, they
aren t going to try very hard
Gender Stereotypes In Rush Hour
Rush Hour 2 features Detective James Carter (Chris Tucker), who works for
LAPD, and his friend, Chief Inspector Lee who works for Honk Kong Police
Department (Jackie Chan). The movie begins in Hong Kong where Carter visits
Lee on vacation however, soon after Carters arrival, Lee receives a call from his
boss, who informs him that the Hong Kong Police suspect that Ricky Tan, the
cunning head of the Fu Cang Long Triads gang, is responsible for an explosion in the
American embassy that killed two Americans. As the movie proceeded, it was clear
how entertainment was portraying and representing the Chinese culture
stereotypically through magnifying and focusing the issues with gang related
violence. In Hollywood, the Asians in the film are always depicted having guns. In
RH2, the women are even portrayed as tough, shown by Hu Li, a gang member with
the Triads, and the womanin the market women who is shown slaughtering chickens.

Aside the violence and the language in relation to the Asian culture, there is also
the way that media portrays their sexuality and their overall ethics. For example,
Carter who is African American is portrayed as a loud, obnoxious, and highly
sexual. While on the job, he is constantly attempting to romanticize the women of
Hong Kong, whereas Lee remains fully aware and attentive to the job. Lee also
takes his job very seriously where in contrast, Carter is constantly fooling around
and is shown gambling at the craps table, and then says, My people did not go
through 362 years of slavery just so you could send us back to the cotton fields
with $500 chips! A clear portrayal of how both races, and in this case the Asians, are
stereotyped and shown to the public by the media as what it should be defined

So they went to the king with a list of demands they wanted him to agree to. This agreement was written in Latin and called Magna Carta, which means great charter. This 800 year old document has helped shape the world we live in today. The result of the negotiations was written down by the King s clerks into the document we know as Magna Carta. Although most of the Charter s clauses dealt with mediaeval rights and customs, Magna Carta has become a powerful symbol of liberty around the world. The most famous clause, which is still part of the law today, for the first time, gave all free men the right to justice and a fair trial. They put this in the movie so it could build up to that scene as a climax to scare the viewers that something might happen. In the trailer for the movie, it even shows the train getting into an accident so the viewers will want to go see what happens to the train. As well as the movie adding the songs, it also added the kids getting a special ticket. Each child had a certain a letter at the beginning of their train ride, punched by the conductor. When the kids were done experiencing the North Pole, the conductor punched out a word pertaining to each kid. The main kid got the word believe punched into his ticket because he did not believe in Santa at the beginning of the movie. The African American girl got leader punched into her ticket because she was the one that always knew what to do. The poor boy, Billy, also got believe because he didn t think Santa was real either. This leads into the most important difference between the book and the movie. In the movie it depicts that going to the North Pole to see Santa was all a dream, while in the book it made it all seem real. When children go see this movie, they might think that since the boy is having a dream that Santa must not be real. A lot of research has been done about kids believing in Santa. • 28. The Theory Of Operant Conditioning Theory Essay Burrhus Frederic Skinners, also known as B. F. Skinner, was a well known American psychologist who came up with the idea of what is known as operant conditioning (Rholetter, 2013). Operant conditioning is one of two theories in learning that illustrates behaviorism (Kretchmar, 2015). It is according to Rholetter (2013), the idea that behavior is the learned result of consequences . Skinner believed that learning during operant conditioning is done based upon the outcome of a given situation (Lefrancois, 2012, p. 91). His operant conditioning theory is constructed on reinforcements consisting of positive, negative, primary and secondary, punishments pertaining positive and negative and reinforcement schedules which includes ratio, interval, fixed and random schedules (Lefrancois, 2012, p. 93 96.). Skinner s operant conditioning theory first revolves around reinforcers and reinforcements. Skinner according to Lefrancois (2012, p. 91), defines a reinforcer as an event that follows a response and that changes the probability of a response s occurring again . The conclusion of a given reinforcer is then the reinforcement. Both positive and negative reinforcements are used to strengthen one s behavior (Lefrancois, 2012, p. 91). They are also used to increase an anticipated behavior (Rholetter, 2013). In order for there to be a positive reinforcement, there needs to be a stimulus present after a certain response occurs. This will increase the use of this specific

As climate change is a controversial topic, there are many sides to this subject. The definition of climate is rarely disputed; according to NASA, climate is typical or average weather (Dunbar) Climate change, however, has a different definition depending on where one gets their information. NASA describes climate change as: range of changes that are happening to our planet. (Global Climate). However, if one looks to another news outlet, they would get this definition: Global Warmingis a sham... A sham perpetuated by a network of dirty government officials, greedy corporations, and bought off scientific organizations (Scientist Confesses). The difference is in not only information being given, but how a rhetor presents the information. When NASA is outlining definitions, they are straight to the point; they have an idea to present, and they present it. This is drastically different from the Newsmax source. In this source, there is little to no mention of climate change until page 3 of the article to find what the article is even about, one must sift through page upon page of imaginative situations and economic statistics. Review Essay Ankita Saikia (ID: W1189198) Introduction: In Donaldson s notion of an Ethical Wealth of Nations , he talks about an ethical advantage of nations, and, how ethical values play an important role in molding the foundation of economic prosperity of nations. In the essay by Professor Jennings, he makes an attempt to extend Donaldson s work and fill in some of the loopholes in the latter s theories. The three major points made in his essay are: 1. Institutions play a vital role in the manner in which ethical values drive a nation to economic prosperity. 2. Ethical values, in order to be a driving force for economic prosperity, must not only be intrinsically valued but must be fully interwoven in the institutional fabric of the society. 3. The moral education of future business leaders should be focused on instilling in them a mindset comprising of a sense of responsibility for advocating and preserving the ethical character of society s institutions. After a critical analysis of the essay, I stand in agreement with the major points. In addition, I feel that it is the moral education in society which is the founding stone of economic prosperity of nations, since, moral education will lead to developing the ethical factors which are essential for boosting the economic prosperity. Role of Institutions: Donaldson s typesetting of ethical factors seems to be missing a very significant aspect of the society, which is closely linked
