Haiti, the small country located west of the Dominican Republic, is a unique and
beautiful country with its own unique culture and geography. The people of Haiti are
proud of their country and their culture. Even though the nation is plagued by
earthquakes and storms, due to its geographic location, it does not stop the Haitian
people from continuing their unique culture and happy lifestyle. Taking a look at this
country s culture and geography, anyone, civilian, military or political personnel can

Knowing a country s culture is a powerful tool for military leaders as well as
soldiers to have. With this knowledge, leaders can make decisions much easier, with
less risk of drawback or damage to relations with the host country.
The people and culture of Haiti are diverse and complex. The religion, norms,
attitudes, and language, give Haiti its uniqueness from other cultures in the world.
Although Haiti is famous for its popular religion, voodoo, the official religion of
Haiti is Catholicism. Haiti has a set of its own unique social norms. Personal
greetings are very important to Haitians. Physically greeting each individual that
enters a room or place is an expectation among Haitians. While Haitian men usually
shake hands, Haitian women give kisses when meeting new acquaintances. All
others, from relatives to friends, receives a kiss on each cheek as a sign of
endearment. Haitians address superiors or persons of status of title such as
Monsieur, Madame, or Doctor, followed by their last name. The elderly might be
called aunt or uncle as a sign of respect, even if not related to the person. Haitian
attitudes match their social norms. Haitians are generous, warm, and friendly people.
Their tradition of hospitality is apparent by how they treat guests or will stop what

Titanic Ship Failure Essay
My professor, Dr. Haddock, once said, Failure is not an Option... It s a
Requirement . Throughout the history of mankind there has been evidence of this.
In life there will always be failures that will come one s way; although, from those
failures one can learn and prevent it from ever happening again. Even when one s
plan seems full proof, there will always be a chance of the plan going haywire.
There was once a so called, unsinkable vessel that set off upon a voyage to be an
ideal ship; although, from history lessons and stories of horrible disaster they beg to
differ. The Titanic was thought to be impossible to sink, magnificently engineered,
and because of this disaster engineers dissects what went wrong learning from this
tragedy. The
Synthesis Essay On War On Drugs
On June 17, 1971, nearly 50 years ago, Richard Nixon declared his plan for a war
against what he addressed as public enemy number one : drug abuse. His plan was
to prohibit drugs and their use and obliterate all of the negative effects they have on
our nation. However, as it is clear now 46 years later, this plan was far from well
executed and overall unsuccessful. The prohibitionof drugs, better known as the War
on Drugs, instead of reducing the use of these substances, has increased the
occurrences of their use. The adverse effects of these potentially dangerous
substances could be avoided simply by legalizing its use. The policy that was
created by Nixon 46 years ago has not been changed or even altered since. Times
have changed and it is clear that America s DrugPolicy needs to be modernized for the

It is clear that since these laws were created, little progress has been made. Reforms
on these out of date drug laws that are ineffective are necessary. August Vollmer,
known to be the Father of Law Enforcement, wrote a book, Police and Modern
Society, supporting his ideologies and the things he has learned during his years of
service in the Berkeley police force. He says, Stringent laws, vigorous prosecution,
and imprisonment of addicts and peddlers have proved not only useless and
enormously expensive as a means of correcting this evil, but they are also
unjustifiably and unbelievably cruel in their application to the unfortunate drug
victims. Rather than imprisoning these troubled individuals who have nowhere else
to turn and need help, we should be assisting them through rehabilitation and medical
care. Therefore, we could be able to this could drastically reduce crime and improve

Essay on Karen Horney s The Distrust Between the Sexes
Karen Horney s The Distrust Between the Sexes
In Karen Horney s The Distrust Between the Sexes, she attempts to explain the
problems in the relationships between men and women. She writes that to understand
the problem you must first understand that problems stem from a common
background. A large amount of suspiciousness is due to people s intensity of emotions.
Early in Horney s essay, she defines passion and discusses why it is rare. People do
not feel safe putting all of their faith and trust in only one other person. Horney
explains that self preservation is part of human instinct, and people have a fear of
losing themselves in their loved one.
Next, Horney explains how people often overlook their own impulses. The ... Show

Next Horney explains that children undergo painful experiences of being betrayed
and lied to. They may also have to submit to taking second place to a family member.
The child is helpless in all of this and the child s only way to vent fury and anger is
in the form of extravagant fantasies. These fantasies are often brutal, criminal, and
destructive in nature. The child s inability to understand these destructive forces
makes them equally fearful of adults.
Horney goes on to explain the later childhood side of relationship fears. A little girl
who represses her wish, due to a guilty conscience, would grow up projecting that
wish on every male. Often she will shy away from accepting or demanding anything
from her husband. This can leads her into a depressed state under which she will shift
the responsibility of helplessness onto the man. Under the guise of being helpless, she
thus dominates her man.
In the middle of Horney s paper she gets into the traits of male psychology. She gives
many examples of how men hold women in high esteem, but writes that they have a
secret distrust of women. One of Horney s best examples would have to be the story
of Adam and Eve. The story devalues women s ability to give birth, and makes them
seem to be sexual temptresses. It is the sexually attractive female that man is afraid
of. Women are considered to be deeply rooted in their emotions. This is often men s

United States Contract Law Essay
United States Contract Law

United States Contract Law according to American laws, a contract must have terms
that do not only certify an agreement between two parties but can be used to prove
its legality some elements that are involved in the contract include offer and
acceptance which are the two major elements of any contract between two parties.
Central to the formation of a contract is an offer which is accepted by the other
party involved in the contract or agreement and in most cases, a price may be paid to
make the contract legal. According to the United States contract law, the price

This is known to be the first legal requirement for a contract in United States and
initiated the contract between Jim, Laura and Stan the car dealer.
A contract can only exist when there is a mutual agreement the parties involved in
the contract and the agreement should be based on parties free will with no undue
influence from the parties involved (Hillman, 2012). It is apparent that Jim and
Laura made the decision to buy the car and they went to see the car dealer and
initiated the agreement at the same time made an offer for Sedan cars after testing
several cars. They agreed to the terms of the contract of sale and promised to come
the following day to pick the car. These provided reasons beyond doubt that Jim and
Laura were committed to the agreement and both of them were of age and of sound
mind which made the agreement a legal contract beyond doubt.
In the case at hand, it is very clear that there was an agreement between Jim and
Laura on one hand and Stan on the other hand for the purchase of a Sedan car since
there was validly made offer that was without undue influence accepted by the car
dealer. Given the fact that there was an offer that was made by Jim and Laura without
undue influence and was accepted by Stan without undue influence cemented the
contract. This was supported by the fact that both parties to the contract were all
mature and of sound mind (Friedman, 2011). Despite the fact that the deal between

Even when I was auditioning, I was very impressed with the script. While the story
might be typical, the approach is anything but typical. I would call it a story with
many layers.
An underlying theme in the film is that of being environmentally friendly. The hip
approach today is that of restaurants serving better foods and using environmentally
sound methods. Fast food places are consistently in competition with the places that
serve better quality, fresher foods. And all too often, those fast food places lose the
battle.
Working with Andrew was great. We bonded over football I am a Dallas Cowboys

Education And Education In Jane Austen s Emma
The 18th to 19th century was a revolutionary time period for women. Jane Austen s
Emma was published during a time where women were campaigning for women s
suffrage and for female education. Emma is a book about a girl that vows not to fall
in love, but plays matchmaker for her friend and acquaintances. The book shows
readers what 18th centuryEngland looked like for women. Upper class women were
allowed to get an education; however, the education they were taught was vastly
different than men s education. Women learned how to weave and learn French while
men learned about government, culture, philosophy from around the world, etc.
However, Emmaalso introduces revolutionary concepts like education for women
and the radical ideas Mary Wollstonecraft s A Vindication of Women s Right
demonstrated. The beginning of the book summarizes life in England for women
during the 18th century. Women had little opportunity to develop a respectable
position in society because of their lack of intellectual proficiency. This was
because of the sexualized education present during 18th century England. The only
way women could move through social hierarchy was through marriage. An
important theme of Emma is marriage and status. In the text, Volume 1, Chapter 4,
Emma states, The yeomanry are precisely the order of people with whom I feel I
can have nothing to do. A degree or two lower, and a creditable appearance might
interest me; I might hope to be useful to their families in some way or

Stuck between a Rock and a Horse Race
No family is perfect, family is family, their love will always be there. At least till you
fall off a rocking horse or hit by a few rocks. What I am referring to are these two
short stories The Lottery by Shirley Jackson, and The Rocking Horse Winner by D.
H. Lawrence. Now for a brief overview of both these unsettling stories. The Lottery
is a story of a small town basically consuming a member of its own community, It s
like a smoothie of Dismay with figurative cannibalism, a bit of social commentary,
a drop of peer pressure, with a twist of tradition. The Rocking Horse Winner Is like
a real delicious literary drama seasoned with a dash of social commentary and a
pinch of the supernatural. It follows the short and tragic life of a boy named Paul,
who thinks he has remarkable luck after realizing he can predict racehorse winners by
furiously riding his rocking horse until he reaches a trance like state. Unfortunately,
Paul s luck begins to kill him...Literally.
Thesis Statement The Rocking Horse Winner and The Lottery delivers two
different uses of the conflict, theme, and tone. Though, the authors use some
similar approaches to grab the reader s attention by the things the characters do,
say and want. The conflict in the two short stories are diverse in almost every way,
yet they both lead to the death of a character in the end. In The Rocking Horse
Winner the conflict of the story was instantly clear. The struggle relates to the
Monetary challenges of the family. The need to gain more money lies at the middle
of all the conflict that arises in the story. Paul knows his mother desires more
money, which encourages him to try to be lucky . Paul can foresee the winning race
horse after riding his rocking horse. Which lead to Paul covertly betting on horse
races, and his uncle and Basset the gardener teaming up with him. Paul got money
for his mother; but in the end, it wasn t enough. The pressure began to effect Paul, as
he is determined to make more money. Paul s obsession with

Essay on Paideia and Modern Educational Policy
Paideia and Modern Educational Policy
ABSTRACT: The lofty ideals of the classical notion of paideia, and the restatement
of those principles in 1982 by Mortimer Adler and the paideia group remain an
unfulfilled promise in terms of the actualities of public education in the United States.
The notion of an educational system for all students built upon a rigorous curriculum
manifesting a framework of values to be acted out in the public and democratic forum
continues to have great attraction for educators. Indeed, the notion of paideia
continues to carry a sense of urgency as it should. However, the actual task of creating
systems devoted to these ideals has run headlong into a political labyrinth generated

The passion for testing (oftentimes observed as soundbites serving political ends )
runs counter to a farmboy s common knowledge that you don t put weight on a hog
by weighing it. This paper will attempt a dialectic exploring the models generating
this tension and suggesting an alternative view of a modern paideia.
That original tension is illustrated in the Greek paideia, which not only
contemplated the process of development of the human subject toward the good,
but also venerated the influence of the object of learning; i.e., first the poetry of
Homer, then the literature of Greece, then the total fine arts of the Greek culture. If
we regard education as a process of shaping or forming, the object of learning plays
the part of the mold by which the subject is shaped. The formative mold of early
Greek paideia was Homer, and as time went on that role was expanded to Greek
poetry at large. In the end, the word paideia meant Greek literature as a whole.
(Jaeger 1961:91).
Early Christians, hellenized and conversant in the use and didactic angularities of the
Greek marketplace of education and dialogue, adopted the definition and
implementation of paideia. As with Plato, Gregory of Nyssa, a pivotal figure in the
early church, adopted as given that all human will and effort by nature was directed
to achieve the
Analysis Of When The Smoke Clears

Terrorism And The Middle East And Muslims
Terrorism has been around since the early to late 11th century and it is directly
related to the Middle East and Muslims. The Hashshashin (roughly translated as the
Assassins ) arose as an offspring of the Isma ili sect of Shia Muslims. It was led by
man named Hassan i Sabbah and it opposed the Fatimid rule. The Hashshashin
group then seized Alamut and other strongholds across Persia. At the time,
Hashshashin forces were too small to go to war conventionally, so they assassinated
city governors and military commanders in order to create alliances with powerful
militaristic neighbors. For instance, they murdered Janah al Dawla, ruler of Homs,

how did it grow so fast?
To answer that question we need to dig a little deeper and go back to pre 9/11. After
the 1998 African Embassy bombings in Kenya, a request was sent out all over the
world by the U.S government, but particularly to Yemen that if Osama bin Laden
showed up, they would like the Yemeni government s full cooperation in arresting
him and turning him over to U.S. The Yemenis made it very clear that if Osama bin
Laden showed up they would turn him in as they wanted nothing to do with him.
Sadly though the U.S pretty much stopped pursuing this as the higher
Theme Of Freedom In Ceasar And Indiana
In Chapters, Ceasar and Indiana, there are numerous instances where knowledge
was mentioned with freedom. Very few slaves are allowed to have books because
knowledge is power. For Ceasar, having his books were important to him because
they reminded him of the prospects for freedom. When Royal transported Cora to
the railroad, he blindfolded her so the location of the trail remained secret. In these
two instances, having intelligence is just as important as being free. In these
chapters, a theme that is communicated is knowledge and information can be equal
to having power and freedom. Ceasar reminds himself of the possibility of freedom
by reading his books. He visits the school house to read after spectating Cora s
beating. While
The Character Of Portia In The Merchant Of Venice
The character of Portia from William Shakespeare s play The Merchant of Venice
has moved thousands of people throughout the centuries. Her beauty, grace, virtue,
but most of all her mercy has captivated those who read or see her. The rich Lady of
Belmont shows the gentlemen surrounding her what it means to truly be merciful.
She radiates Christian mercy in a way no other character is able to in the play.
What is mercy? According to the Oxford Dictionary, mercy is clemency and
compassion shown to a person who is in a position of powerlessness or subjection,
or to a person with no right or claim to receive kindness; kind and compassionate
treatment in a case where severity is merited or expected, esp. in giving legal
judgment or passing sentence. (Mercy, n 1) Portia, however, elaborates on this
definition in her soliloquy describing the quality of mercy. (IV.i.190) The lady claims:
It is an attribute to God himself;
And earthly power doth then show likest God s
When mercy seasons justice. Therefore, Jew,
Though justice be thy plea, consider this,
That, in the course of justice, none of us
Should see salvation: we do pray for mercy;
And that same prayer doth teach us all to render
The deeds of mercy. . . (IV.i.201 208)
Mercy is an active grace that is like the ripple effect in a pool. Or perhaps it is more
powerfully described as a super volcanic eruption that explodes in the middle of the
ocean, creating colossal waves that spread through water for hundreds of miles.
Essay about The Mysterious Vanishing Frogs of North

The Mysterious Vanishing Frogs of North America
I have a passion for all things slimy, wet, and creepy crawly. Some of the best times
of my life have been spent on my knees, digging in the dirt for earthworms, traipsing
back from ponds with buckets of putrid swamp water teeming with tadpoles, or
chasing fat little toads in knee high grass. I love the outdoors and all of the ugly
animals that inhabit it. I like to catch them, watch them, and especially photograph
them. For the longest time, lizards have been the main focus of my photographic
endeavors, but last summer, inspired by a book on frogs from the local library, I set

Florida near the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The facts and science behind declining frog populations will be discussed shortly, but
almost as interesting as the facts themselves is how the story was reported in the
media, and how the reporting influenced the nation s thinking on frogs.
The frenzy over deformed frogs began on a lazy summer day in August 1995.
Cindy Reinitz, a teacher at a school in Henderson, Minnesota, was walking with her
middle school students down a deserted, dusty back road on the way to a field trip
at a local farm. Along the way, the kids began to chase frogs along the side of the
road. When one of the kids showed her a frog with a missing leg, her first instinct
was that one of her less than angelic students had pulled the leg off. However, a
closer examination of the frog showed no fresh wound, and when she and her
middle schoolers set out to capture more frogs, they noticed that a large number of
the frogs were missing legs, had more than two legs, or were deformed in some other
way (Souder, 1).
The frog story had all of the elements that make a newspaper reporter s ears perk
up: children to provide excellent visuals and add just the right amount of cute factor,
a defenseless victim the frogs, an ultimate evil pollution, and a possible danger to
everyone the frogs could ostensibly be canaries in a mineshaft (idea from Reaser
Johnson, 3). By 1997, an alarming number of newspaper articles had been written

Narrative Experience In Ramadan
The tutorial class was filled with anticipation. Something was going to happen.
Every Muslim friend of mine lamented at how slow the clock was ticking or so it
seemed. As the time drew nearer, many just halted their tasks and began to
countdown. Suddenly, the clock struck five. The quiet and dull atmosphere was
transformed to a noisy and exciting one. This marked the class ended and they were
ready to break their fast soon. I was invited by my course mates to experience Bazaar
Ramadan. A thought of Jalan Masjid India and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman Bazaar
Ramadan came to my mind. Thus, I suggested to bring along my friends from Penang
to witness the exciting and fun filled circumstances from the bazaar of Kuala Lumpur.
I can hardly remember when I was still a kid, my father was mine of information
about the history of Ramadan. This is because he lived in a Malay village during his
childhood time. My father made friends and communicated with other ethnics of
children not only Chinese ethnic. His friends of Malay ethnic shared all the
knowledge about Ramadan with my father. Ramadan is the month of fasting
practiced by the most observant Muslims. Everyday during the month of Ramadan,
Muslims around the world get up before dawn (6:00 a.m.) to eat the Suhoor meal and
perform their Fajr prayer. They break their fast when the ... Show more content on

Why Is Homework Necessary For Elementary School
Homework Is Not Necessary for Elementary Students
Elementary education is something many people are familiar with. Some may have
taught in elementary schools, researched elementary education, or at the least,
attended elementary school. School work and projects assigned to be completed at
home are a large part of primary education, and most people who have completed
grades one through six have experienced homework themselves, but does familiarity
mean necessity? How important is homework in elementary education? Is it helpful or
possibly even harmful? Educators and psychologists have conducted many studies on
homework in elementary education, and it is an important subject (Healy). Children
learn and refine routines and skills related to school in their elementary years (Healy).
Even though homework is often considered a requirement of education, the benefits
of homework for elementary age children are inconclusive, and homework has been
shown to degrade young students morale and lower test scores (Reilly). Homework
should be greatly reduced or even banned in elementary schools. ... Show more

The most common is reinforcement (Lohmann). Educators have students
complete exercises based off of what was taught in class that day. Educators may
also use homework to introduce a new topic that will be covered in class the next
day or in the near future (Lohmann). Lastly, homework can be used to boost
students morale and engage their minds (Reilly). The goal is that this will lead to
an increase in positive attitudes to both the topic being taught as well as school in
general (Reilly). Educators are given a general guideline of 10 minutes of homework
for each grade level (Reilly). For example, a second grade child will have 20 minutes
of homework, and a 8th grade child will have 80 minutes of homework
What Does Grandma Mean To You Essay
As a young adult, you don t remember much childhood memories that can be
cherished forever besides who your best friend was in first grade or your favorite
color or why the kids were being mean to you at recess. As we get older we realize
there is more life struggles to worry about than what happened during grade school.
Many people will look at their grandma as the wonderful lady that makes you fat
because she doesn t let you to leave her house hungry and your coat pockets will be
overflowing with candy just to snack on later. Although I could agree to that
100%, there is a lot more than just the food and candy that a grandma will over fill
you with. Ever since I was a little girl, my grandma has been my best friend. I spent
almost every day with her as long as she wasn t away traveling for work. When she
wasn t working we did almost everything you could think of and somehow always
found ourselves at the mall by the end of the day. Although she had many other

The Effects Of Athletic Participation On Academic
Performance
The purpose of the literature review was to determined the effects of athletic
participation on academic performance and if there were differences between the
male and female athletes of the Mennonite High School. In order to determine
whether participating in sporting events have an impact on the student s academic
performance, the researcher collected existing data during the sportseason period,
there the participants assessment grades (AG) were calculated. These scores were
compared with the immediate post season average to see whether there was a
significant difference between the scores received during and after participating in
their various sporting activities. There were studies done that found that the
participationof student athletes may not only have positive effects on their academic
achievement but there may also be positive effects in other areas of their adolescent
life. According to the National Federation of State High SchoolAssociation (NFHS),
students who became involved in sports or extracurricular activities promote lifelong
lessons in teamwork, self discipline; facilitate the emotional development of the
youths. The National Federation of State High School uses several sources to support
their claim that students who participate in activity programmes have better academic
averages, better attendance records, a lower dropout rate and fewer discipline
problems (NFHS, 2002, p.2). March (1992) found that students who participate in

Essay on Salem Witch Trial Theories
Brennyn Mackey

The Secret War of Salem
Exposing the Culprit behind the Mass Hysteria
The Salem Witch Trials were a series of infamous events that demand an explanation
for their occurrence. The trials that took place in 1692 caused neighbors in the
community of Salem Village in the colony of Massachusetts to turn on one another
out of paranoia, accusing one another of witchcraft. According to Carol Karlsen, a
longtime author of the subject, nineteen people were hanged and about 200 others
were imprisoned (40). A few theories have been offered in order to explain the root
of this mass hysteria. The theories in question need to be examined to see which
holds the most credibility.
Most historians who have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to their research:
Ergot poisoning in individuals with adequate vitamin A intakes leads to
gangrenous rather than convulsive symptoms. Vitamin A is found both in fish and
in dairy products. Salem Village was a farming community and Salem Town,
which bordered the village, was a well known seaport; cows and fish were
plentiful. There is no evidence to suggest a vitamin A deficiency in the diet of the
inhabitants, and it would be particularly unlikely for the so called afflicted girls,
some of whom came from well to do farming families. The absence of any instance
of gangrenous symptomatology makes it highly unlikely that ergot played any role in
the Salem crisis (Spanos).
The theory that there was an ergot infestation does not seem to hold up to the
accounts of Spanos and Gottlieb. The theory of ergot infestation has slowly lost
credibility due to these pieces of evidence.
Another theory that attempts to explain the paranoia is the theory that witchcraft was
being practiced in the community. The word witch came into English from Wicca, an
Anglo Saxon word that means wise one (Buckland 26). Witches have been viewed
throughout history as servants of Satan, spreading misfortune. This is an exaggerated
stereotype similar to the misconception that witches fly around on broomsticks and

Clinician-Rated Test Essay
All clinician rated test should have three types of reliability: internal reliability,
retest reliability, and interrater reliability (Bagby, Ryder, Schuller, Marshall, 2004).
Research regarding who the HRSD was normed on is unavailable. However, Cusin et
al. (2012) recently reported on the HRSD psychometricsproperties. Interrater
reliability of the total scores for the HRSD is considered to be a strong relationship
ranging from 0.80 0.98, with Cronbach alpha estimates of ≥0.70 which is an
adequate score. Interrater reliability examines the relationship between scores
provided by different raters observing the same phenomenon and Cronbach s alpha,
is the average of all possible split half reliabilities (Shultz, Whitney, Zickar,... Show

One issue with test retest reliability is that longer intervals are likely to impose
psychological change, thus changing true scores (Furr, Bacharach, 2013). Therefore,
the interval amount of time can have an impact on the client s score. Cusins et al.
(2012), research does not indicate the interval time, but their retest reliability score of
0.81 is indicative of a strong relationship.
The factor structure of the Hamilton depression scale comprises of part of validity
1) content, 2) convergent, 3) discriminant, 4) factorial, and 5) predictive validity.
Cusins et al. (2012), did not go in depth regarding the assessment validity, but did
indicate that the HRDS has been reported of having a validity from the ranges of
range from 0.65 to 0.90, which is considered to be a strong relationship. A study by
Bagby et al. (2004) did refer to the different types of validity in the HRSD. The term
validity refers to if an assessment properly measures what it supposed to measure
(Shultz, Whitney, Zickar, 2013). Content validity is performed by a rational
inspection of the completed test by subject matter experts (Furr, Bacharach, 2013).
According to Bagby et al. (2004), the HRSD has poor content validity. The rationale
for this is because although the symptoms listed on the HRSD are features associated
with depression, the assessment does not match the official DSM diagnostic criteria.
Since the development of the HRSD, the definition of depression has
Henry Fleming In Red Badge Of Courage Essay
Henry Fleming in Red Badge of Courage
The Civil War forced many young boys out of childhood and into adulthood. Most
of these young boys were not prepared for war, and Henry Fleming was one of these
boys.
Henry Fleming s life in New York was routine. He had his normal share of friends
and lived on a farm. When Henry got up in the mornings, he always knew exactly
what the day had in store for him. This simple and boring life drove
Henry to enlist.
Henry wanted some excitement and to be seen by everyone as a hero. He wanted to
be a man. However, his mother was strictly against his joining the Union Army.
She thought that the Army was for rough and uncivilized heathens.
His mother s greatest fear was that these heathens ... Show more content on

After hearing the tales of battle, Henry began to be intimidated by fear. Would he run
when faced with death or would he have the courage to fight? This question was
always on
Henry s mind. Finally, after many months of monotonous camp life, the question was
answered. After hours of marching one day, Henry s regiment met with a
Rebel battalion. When gunfire erupted, Henry sprung up and ran. He ran with
the zeal of an insane sprinter. Now Henry had the answer to his question, he was a
coward. After his flight from battle, Henry met a group of soldiers who were
wounded. He felt guilty because he was unmarked. He wanted to be wounded like
them so he could have his own Red Badge of Courage.
Henry did get his badge of courage on his return to his detachment. Ironically, it was
from the butt of a fellow soldier s rifle. Now he was determined to prove himself and
show that he would not run again. War used to be something
Henry could not imagine fighting in, but now it was his obsession. When the time
came he did more than just stand up to his fear, he led the charge against the Rebels
and was noticed for his heroic actions by the commander. After the battle he felt as if
he had crossed a bridge from being an inexperienced, frightened young boy to a
strong and heroic soldier.
The war was the catalyst that propelled Henry into manhood. Henry leaped into
manhood by having to face every man s greatest fear, death, instead of maturing
Motivation And Performance Involving Mechanical Skills
Motivation provides individuals the drive to behave and act in a certain way in
order to influence their work environments (Robbins Judge, 2014, pp. 35 36).
When employees are able to influence their work environments, they can make a
psychological identity with their organization that provides a sense of purpose, or
meaningfulness, to their existence in their job performance and involvement
(Robbins Judge, 2014, pp. 35 36). Thus, providing employees with a higher level
of job satisfaction. To promote higher levels of job satisfaction, involvement and
performance, managers will utilize motivational strategies to encourage their
employees to perform certain tasks (McCoy, 2012, p. 2). However, managers are
recognizing that traditional incentives are no longer providing the results of
behavioral physics in their organization (McCoy, 2012, p. 3). To address this
dilemma, managers are looking at motivational strategies where the incentives
psychologically empower their employees in their daily activities. Problem In Dan
Pink s YouTube video, he discusses how incentivizing performance involving
mechanical skills follows with the laws of behavioral physics, which is, if one
rewards an individual for their performance, they receive more of the behavior
(2010). Conversely, if they do not get rewarded, then they get less of the behavior
(Pink, 2010). However, this is not the case for individuals performing rudimentary
cognitive skills (Pink, 2010). Pink explains the
The Issue Of Immigration Policy
Although the issue of immigration policy has been at the center of political debates,
largely discussed in the media and newspapers, no one has yet found a solution to
this ill defined problem, that would comply with the America s core values. While I
think the immigration policy does need a reform, the solution to this problem
certainly is not a deportation of all undocumented residents.
Currently, there are nearly 40 million United States residents that were born
abroad.About 11 million of them are undocumented. The federal government has
significantly increased the rate at which it removes noncitizens from the U.S. For
example, U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) removes about 400
thousand immigrants per year, or about 1000 per day. (Quevedo, 2015) Originally,
Congress established that there are three crimes, for which a noncitizen can be
deported for. Those crimes included: murder, illicit trafficking in firearms, and drug
trafficking. (Cuahtemoc Hernandez, 2013) Before 1986, deportation was reserved for
violent crimes and those crimes that carried long prison sentences. The Immigration
Act of 1990 expanded the category of crimes that required mandatory deportation.
(Blake, 2015) And Congress stayed very far from its original intentions. I agree with
the fact that noncitizens who commit violent crimes, gang members, drug dealers,
etc. should be punished through deportation. But, harsh immigration policies are not
effective, simply because

1.4How do an organization s business processes and lines of business affect the
design of its AIS? Give several examples of how differences among organizations
are reflected in their AIS. An organization s AIS must reflect its business processes
and its line of business. For example: * Manufacturing companies will need a set of
procedures and documents for the production cycle; non manufacturing companies do
not. * Government agencies need procedures to track separately all inflows and
outflows from various funds, to ensure that legal requirements about the use of
specific funds are followed. * Financial institutions do not need extensive inventory
control systems. * Passenger service companies (e.g., airlines, bus, and trains)
generally receive payments in advance of providing services. Therefore, extensive
billing and accounts receivable procedures are not needed; instead, they must develop
procedures to account for prepaid revenue. * Construction firms typically receive
payments at regular intervals, based on the percentage of work completed. Thus,
their revenue cycles must be designed to track carefully all work performed and the
The Buddha s Charter Of Free Inquiry
Many people have participated in the discussion regarding the KДЃlДЃma Sutta.
Unfortunately, a bundle of people only focus on a single passage and misrepresent
the whole sutta. More details of this will be explored further in the later section,
Buddhism and Authority.
In The Buddha s Charter of Free Inquiry Soma Thera says that the KДЃlДЃma Sutta
is teaching to the KДЃlДЃmas but is also an incentive of free inquiry. The teaching is
exemption from the authoritative dogmas, intolerance and personal interest. He
further insisted that if one were to discern the discourse correctly, wisdom is
processed throughout. The sutta, he said, is very obvious in rejecting the bad and
adopting the good way... the place of critical examination and analysis in the
development of right vision. Buddha s insight into the matter of judgment is beyond
our normal understanding. As the four solaces show that a noble life is not about
faith in rebirth and retribution. Instead, it is about happiness of the mind by
conquering our own avarice, enmity, and ignorance. Basically, the teaching is for
everyone.
Soma Thera concluded his essay by citing a short conversation between Moncure D.
Conway and Ponnambalam Ramanathan, who follow different faiths but come
together and listen to the discourse of the KДЃlДЃmas and profess this good doctrine
is essential to humanity development.
However, scholar and monastic Bhikkhu Bodhi has a different perspective on the

The Effect Of Velashape Cellulite On The Body
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Dallas, Texas) ABCNews.com recently reported that cellulite affects 90 percent of
women at one time or another in their lives, even those who are in great shape and
remain at a healthy weight. This common problem arises when fat deposits in the
body make their way through connective tissue under the skin, and maybe the results
of hormonal issues, inadequate muscle tone and exercise, excess fat and/or poor
circulation. Laserium Med Spa now offers VelaShape Cellulite Reduction for
individuals wishing to remove these unsightly bumps.
VelaShape helps to improve the texture of the patient s skin, while targeting localized
fat deposits and reducing the appearance of cellulite. VelaShape remains the only
device currently cleared by the FDA for reducing cellulite and firming the skin, and it
effectively slims, shapes and contours the body. Patients begin to see results
following the initial treatment, although they are most apparent six to eight weeks
after treatment is complete, Kira Gill, spokesperson for Laserium Med Spa,
announces. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Less connective tissue is found in those areas, making it easier for fat deposits to
make their way to the skin s surface. In addition, estrogen levels in a female s body
decrease with time, and this often leads to poor circulation, a decline in collagen
production and the deterioration of connective tissue. All can lead to the appearance of
Public Health Issue Of Vaccinations For Newborn Children
Vaccination is a public health issue rather than the personal health issue. First, for
newborn kids, they do not have the mature immunity system to resist diseases. At that
time, they need vaccine to protect themselves. Second, children spend a lot of time
play with others in outside. They and their parents do not know whether those
children is healthy or not. So, vaccinecan protect children are not infected by others.
Also, vaccinationis a controversial decision, and it is different from other personal
health decision. No one can make sure that every vaccines is one hundred percent
safe. That means that it will have side effect when children get vaccination. Few
people even will die because of side effect. Other types of personal health
Identifying Stereotypes
Identifying Stereotypes
In order to make sense of the world, stereotypes are created (RodrГguez, Saldierna,
MaraГ±Гіn, MuГ±iz, 2013). Stereotypes allow individuals to simplify and organize
information about a certain group, and it also allows individuals to make sense of
situations that are not as familiar to them (RodrГguez et al., 2013). Stereotypes can be
created consciously or unconsciously (Cardon, 2010), and they can be learned by
personal interaction with a particular group or by learning the stereotype from a
source (RodrГguez et al., 2013). This is where the media plays a role in teaching
individuals about stereotypes.
More frequently, stereotypes are negative, and they assume that all of the individuals

Tokophobia Definition
What is tokophobia, and why is it a fear that I overcame? Tokophobia is known as
the fear of childbirth, and it was a fear that I overcame. Throughout pregnancy, many
women decided to research anything, and everything that could happen to you, or the
baby. Further along. into my pregnancy, I realized that I was starting to fear childbirth
. While I was pregnant fear overcame my body because, I was scared of the risk of
dying, the fear of something going wrong with me or the baby, and then how bad the
recovery would be. I had several fears throughout my pregnancy, but a tremendous
fear was the risk of losing my life. From the beginning until the end, this thought
was always in the back of my head. Another thing is you always see something
happen in movies, or on a show, you really do not know what to expect of
childbirth until it actually happens to you. However, my nerves started to calm
down, and I did realize that many women survive childbirth; and that I could top.

Everyday millions of people fly on airplanes. It is an easy and fast way of traveling
for work, vacations or to see family members. Statically air travel is safer than
traveling by car, airplanes have higher fatality accidents. The reasons airplanes
crash vary and can happen during takeoff, landing or during flight. August 1985
witnessed more passenger and crew deaths on commercial airlines than any other
month. [http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine 33931693.] On August 2, 1985,
Delta Flight 191 was making a routine trip from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Los

Superman Vs Napoleon Research Paper
Superman V Napoleon We are half ruined by conformity, but we should be wholly
ruined without it. (Charles Dudley Warner) Conformity is the compliance with
standards, rules, or laws. With conformity society can be controlled, justice can be
served, and it won t be a wasteland of crime and trouble. But we need nonconformists
too, without them there is no change, whether for good or bad. Superman is known
as the Blue Boy Scout because he fights for truth, justice, the american way, and
basically conformityas a whole. While Napoleon uses his power to change the rules
and make his own personal utopia without any regard for any of the other animals.
Based off these two characters, Conformity is like a gun, if in a conformists hands it
can be a symbol of protection and safety, but in a nonconformists hands can be a
symbol of death, change,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

was growing up he was slowly becoming more and more anxious to use his powers.
Well one day he got his wish and a tornado came stampeding through the highway
him and his parents were driving on. Everyone on the highway started to panic and
were running to the underpass for cover. Clark took his mom to the underpass but
Jonathan was still trying to grab the family dog. He got stuck at his car with a

knowing the only way he was gonna save him was if he used his powers. But
Jonathan held out his hand signifying no to Clark, that he should not use his powers
because then the world would know his secret. With a quick scoop the tornado
hurled around Jonathan and he was gone. Superman conformed to his father and let

In life there will always be failures that will come one s way; although, from those failures one can learn and prevent it from ever happening again. Even when one s plan seems full proof, there will always be a chance of the plan going haywire. There was once a so called, unsinkable vessel that set off upon a voyage to be an ideal ship; although, from history lessons and stories of horrible disaster they beg to differ. The Titanic was thought to be impossible to sink, magnificently engineered, and because of this disaster engineers dissects what went wrong learning from this tragedy. The

His plan was to prohibit drugs and their use and obliterate all of the negative effects they have on our nation. However, as it is clear now 46 years later, this plan was far from well executed and overall unsuccessful. The prohibitionof drugs, better known as the War on Drugs, instead of reducing the use of these substances, has increased the occurrences of their use. The adverse effects of these potentially dangerous substances could be avoided simply by legalizing its use. The policy that was created by Nixon 46 years ago has not been changed or even altered since. August Vollmer, known to be the Father of Law Enforcement, wrote a book, Police and Modern Society, supporting his ideologies and the things he has learned during his years of service in the Berkeley police force. He says, Stringent laws, vigorous prosecution, and imprisonment of addicts and peddlers have proved not only useless and enormously expensive as a means of correcting this evil, but they are also unjustifiably and unbelievably cruel in their application to the unfortunate drug victims. Therefore, we could be able to this could drastically reduce crime and improve health by treating drug use as a health issue rather than criminalising

  • 6. Essay on Karen Horney s The Distrust Between the Sexes Karen Horney s The Distrust Between the Sexes In Karen Horney s The Distrust Between the Sexes, she attempts to explain the problems in the relationships between men and women. She writes that to understand the problem you must first understand that problems stem from a common background. A large amount of suspiciousness is due to people s intensity of emotions. Early in Horney s essay, she defines passion and discusses why it is rare. People do not feel safe putting all of their faith and trust in only one other person. Horney explains that self preservation is part of human instinct, and people have a fear of losing themselves in their loved one. Next, Horney explains how people often overlook their own impulses. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Next Horney explains that children undergo painful experiences of being betrayed and lied to. They may also have to submit to taking second place to a family member. The child is helpless in all of this and the child s only way to vent fury and anger is in the form of extravagant fantasies. These fantasies are often brutal, criminal, and destructive in nature. The child s inability to understand these destructive forces makes them equally fearful of adults. Horney goes on to explain the later childhood side of relationship fears. A little girl who represses her wish, due to a guilty conscience, would grow up projecting that wish on every male. Often she will shy away from accepting or demanding anything from her husband. This can leads her into a depressed state under which she will shift the responsibility of helplessness onto the man. Under the guise of being helpless, she thus dominates her man. In the middle of Horney s paper she gets into the traits of male psychology. She gives many examples of how men hold women in high esteem, but writes that they have a secret distrust of women. One of Horney s best examples would have to be the story of Adam and Eve. The story devalues women s ability to give birth, and makes them seem to be sexual temptresses. It is the sexually attractive female that man is afraid of. Women are considered to be deeply rooted in their emotions. This is often men s excuse for

Central to the formation of a contract is an offer which is accepted by the other party involved in the contract or agreement and in most cases, a price may be paid to make the contract legal. This is known to be the first legal requirement for a contract in United States and initiated the contract between Jim, Laura and Stan the car dealer. A contract can only exist when there is a mutual agreement the parties involved in the contract and the agreement should be based on parties free will with no undue influence from the parties involved (Hillman, 2012). It is apparent that Jim and Laura made the decision to buy the car and they went to see the car dealer and initiated the agreement at the same time made an offer for Sedan cars after testing several cars. They agreed to the terms of the contract of sale and promised to come the following day to pick the car. These provided reasons beyond doubt that Jim and Laura were committed to the agreement and both of them were of age and of sound mind which made the agreement a legal contract beyond doubt. In the case at hand, it is very clear that there was an agreement between Jim and Laura on one hand and Stan on the other hand for the purchase of a Sedan car since there was validly made offer that was without undue influence accepted by the car dealer. Given the fact that there was an offer that was made by Jim and Laura without undue influence and was accepted by Stan without undue influence cemented the contract. This was supported by the fact that both parties to the contract were all mature and of sound mind (Friedman, 2011). Despite the fact that the deal between

  • 10. Education And Education In Jane Austen s Emma The 18th to 19th century was a revolutionary time period for women. Jane Austen s Emma was published during a time where women were campaigning for women s suffrage and for female education. Emma is a book about a girl that vows not to fall in love, but plays matchmaker for her friend and acquaintances. The book shows readers what 18th centuryEngland looked like for women. Upper class women were allowed to get an education; however, the education they were taught was vastly different than men s education. Women learned how to weave and learn French while men learned about government, culture, philosophy from around the world, etc. However, Emmaalso introduces revolutionary concepts like education for women and the radical ideas Mary Wollstonecraft s A Vindication of Women s Right demonstrated. The beginning of the book summarizes life in England for women during the 18th century. Women had little opportunity to develop a respectable position in society because of their lack of intellectual proficiency. This was because of the sexualized education present during 18th century England. The only way women could move through social hierarchy was through marriage. An important theme of Emma is marriage and status. In the text, Volume 1, Chapter 4, Emma states, The yeomanry are precisely the order of people with whom I feel I can have nothing to do. A degree or two lower, and a creditable appearance might interest me; I might hope to be useful to their families in some way or

Fiction Essay By: Martin Bennett 6/1/17 Stuck between a Rock and a Horse Race No family is perfect, family is family, their love will always be there. At least till you fall off a rocking horse or hit by a few rocks. What I am referring to are these two short stories The Lottery by Shirley Jackson, and The Rocking Horse Winner by D. H. Lawrence. Now for a brief overview of both these unsettling stories. The Lottery is a story of a small town basically consuming a member of its own community, It s like a smoothie of Dismay with figurative cannibalism, a bit of social commentary, a drop of peer pressure, with a twist of tradition. The Rocking Horse Winner Is like a real delicious literary drama seasoned with a dash of social commentary and a pinch of the supernatural. It follows the short and tragic life of a boy named Paul, who thinks he has remarkable luck after realizing he can predict racehorse winners by furiously riding his rocking horse until he reaches a trance like state. Unfortunately, Paul s luck begins to kill him...Literally. Thesis Statement The Rocking Horse Winner and The Lottery delivers two different uses of the conflict, theme, and tone. Though, the authors use some similar approaches to grab the reader s attention by the things the characters do, say and want. The conflict in the two short stories are diverse in almost every way, yet they both lead to the death of a character in the end. In The Rocking Horse Winner the conflict of the story was instantly clear. The struggle relates to the Monetary challenges of the family. The need to gain more money lies at the middle of all the conflict that arises in the story. Paul knows his mother desires more money, which encourages him to try to be lucky . Paul can foresee the winning race horse after riding his rocking horse. Which lead to Paul covertly betting on horse races, and his uncle and Basset the gardener teaming up with him. Paul got money for his mother; but in the end, it wasn t enough. The pressure began to effect Paul, as he is determined to make more money. Paul s obsession with

The notion of an educational system for all students built upon a rigorous curriculum manifesting a framework of values to be acted out in the public and democratic forum continues to have great attraction for educators. The passion for testing (oftentimes observed as soundbites serving political ends ) runs counter to a farmboy s common knowledge that you don t put weight on a hog by weighing it. This paper will attempt a dialectic exploring the models generating this tension and suggesting an alternative view of a modern paideia. That original tension is illustrated in the Greek paideia, which not only contemplated the process of development of the human subject toward the good, but also venerated the influence of the object of learning; i.e., first the poetry of Homer, then the literature of Greece, then the total fine arts of the Greek culture. If we regard education as a process of shaping or forming, the object of learning plays the part of the mold by which the subject is shaped. The formative mold of early Greek paideia was Homer, and as time went on that role was expanded to Greek poetry at large. In the end, the word paideia meant Greek literature as a whole. (Jaeger 1961:91). Early Christians, hellenized and conversant in the use and didactic angularities of the Greek marketplace of education and dialogue, adopted the definition and implementation of paideia. As with Plato, Gregory of Nyssa, a pivotal figure in the early church, adopted as given that all human will and effort by nature was directed to achieve the

Her beauty, grace, virtue, but most of all her mercy has captivated those who read or see her. The rich Lady of Belmont shows the gentlemen surrounding her what it means to truly be merciful. She radiates Christian mercy in a way no other character is able to in the play. What is mercy? According to the Oxford Dictionary, mercy is clemency and compassion shown to a person who is in a position of powerlessness or subjection, or to a person with no right or claim to receive kindness; kind and compassionate treatment in a case where severity is merited or expected, esp. in giving legal judgment or passing sentence. (Mercy, n 1) Portia, however, elaborates on this definition in her soliloquy describing the quality of mercy. (IV.i.190) The lady claims: It is an attribute to God himself; And earthly power doth then show likest God s When mercy seasons justice. Therefore, Jew, Though justice be thy plea, consider this, That, in the course of justice, none of us Should see salvation: we do pray for mercy; And that same prayer doth teach us all to render The deeds of mercy. . . The facts and science behind declining frog populations will be discussed shortly, but almost as interesting as the facts themselves is how the story was reported in the media, and how the reporting influenced the nation s thinking on frogs. The frenzy over deformed frogs began on a lazy summer day in August 1995. Cindy Reinitz, a teacher at a school in Henderson, Minnesota, was walking with her middle school students down a deserted, dusty back road on the way to a field trip at a local farm. Along the way, the kids began to chase frogs along the side of the road. When one of the kids showed her a frog with a missing leg, her first instinct was that one of her less than angelic students had pulled the leg off. However, a closer examination of the frog showed no fresh wound, and when she and her middle schoolers set out to capture more frogs, they noticed that a large number of the frogs were missing legs, had more than two legs, or were deformed in some other way (Souder, 1). The frog story had all of the elements that make a newspaper reporter s ears perk up: children to provide excellent visuals and add just the right amount of cute factor, a defenseless victim the frogs, an ultimate evil pollution, and a possible danger to everyone the frogs could ostensibly be canaries in a mineshaft (idea from Reaser Johnson, 3). Vitamin A is found both in fish and in dairy products. Salem Village was a farming community and Salem Town, which bordered the village, was a well known seaport; cows and fish were plentiful. There is no evidence to suggest a vitamin A deficiency in the diet of the inhabitants, and it would be particularly unlikely for the so called afflicted girls, some of whom came from well to do farming families. (2012), did not go in depth regarding the assessment validity, but did indicate that the HRDS has been reported of having a validity from the ranges of range from 0.65 to 0.90, which is considered to be a strong relationship. A study by Bagby et al. (2004) did refer to the different types of validity in the HRSD. The term validity refers to if an assessment properly measures what it supposed to measure (Shultz, Whitney, Zickar, 2013). Content validity is performed by a rational inspection of the completed test by subject matter experts (Furr, Bacharach, 2013). According to Bagby et al. (2004), the HRSD has poor content validity. The rationale for this is because although the symptoms listed on the HRSD are features associated with depression, the assessment does not match the official DSM diagnostic criteria. Since the development of the HRSD, the definition of depression has
  • 28. Henry Fleming In Red Badge Of Courage Essay Henry Fleming in Red Badge of Courage The Civil War forced many young boys out of childhood and into adulthood. Most of these young boys were not prepared for war, and Henry Fleming was one of these boys. Henry Fleming s life in New York was routine. He had his normal share of friends and lived on a farm. When Henry got up in the mornings, he always knew exactly what the day had in store for him. This simple and boring life drove Henry to enlist. Henry wanted some excitement and to be seen by everyone as a hero. He wanted to be a man. However, his mother was strictly against his joining the Union Army. She thought that the Army was for rough and uncivilized heathens. His mother s greatest fear was that these heathens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After hearing the tales of battle, Henry began to be intimidated by fear. Would he run when faced with death or would he have the courage to fight? This question was always on Henry s mind. Finally, after many months of monotonous camp life, the question was answered. After hours of marching one day, Henry s regiment met with a Rebel battalion. When gunfire erupted, Henry sprung up and ran. He ran with the zeal of an insane sprinter. Now Henry had the answer to his question, he was a coward. After his flight from battle, Henry met a group of soldiers who were wounded. He felt guilty because he was unmarked. He wanted to be wounded like them so he could have his own Red Badge of Courage. Henry did get his badge of courage on his return to his detachment. Ironically, it was from the butt of a fellow soldier s rifle. Now he was determined to prove himself and show that he would not run again. War used to be something Henry could not imagine fighting in, but now it was his obsession. When the time came he did more than just stand up to his fear, he led the charge against the Rebels and was noticed for his heroic actions by the commander. After the battle he felt as if he had crossed a bridge from being an inexperienced, frightened young boy to a strong and heroic soldier. The war was the catalyst that propelled Henry into manhood. Henry leaped into manhood by having to face every man s greatest fear, death, instead of maturing
  • 29. Motivation And Performance Involving Mechanical Skills Motivation provides individuals the drive to behave and act in a certain way in order to influence their work environments (Robbins Judge, 2014, pp. 35 36). When employees are able to influence their work environments, they can make a psychological identity with their organization that provides a sense of purpose, or meaningfulness, to their existence in their job performance and involvement (Robbins Judge, 2014, pp. 35 36). Thus, providing employees with a higher level of job satisfaction. To promote higher levels of job satisfaction, involvement and performance, managers will utilize motivational strategies to encourage their employees to perform certain tasks (McCoy, 2012, p. 2). However, managers are recognizing that traditional incentives are no longer providing the results of behavioral physics in their organization (McCoy, 2012, p. 3). To address this dilemma, managers are looking at motivational strategies where the incentives psychologically empower their employees in their daily activities. Problem In Dan Pink s YouTube video, he discusses how incentivizing performance involving mechanical skills follows with the laws of behavioral physics, which is, if one rewards an individual for their performance, they receive more of the behavior (2010). Conversely, if they do not get rewarded, then they get less of the behavior (Pink, 2010). However, this is not the case for individuals performing rudimentary cognitive skills (Pink, 2010). Pink explains the

The Issue Of Immigration Policy Although the issue of immigration policy has been at the center of political debates, largely discussed in the media and newspapers, no one has yet found a solution to this ill defined problem, that would comply with the America s core values. While I think the immigration policy does need a reform, the solution to this problem certainly is not a deportation of all undocumented residents. Currently, there are nearly 40 million United States residents that were born abroad.About 11 million of them are undocumented. The federal government has significantly increased the rate at which it removes noncitizens from the U.S. For example, U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) removes about 400 thousand immigrants per year, or about 1000 per day. (Quevedo, 2015) Originally, Congress established that there are three crimes, for which a noncitizen can be deported for. Those crimes included: murder, illicit trafficking in firearms, and drug trafficking. (Cuahtemoc Hernandez, 2013) Before 1986, deportation was reserved for violent crimes and those crimes that carried long prison sentences. The Immigration Act of 1990 expanded the category of crimes that required mandatory deportation. (Blake, 2015) And Congress stayed very far from its original intentions. I agree with the fact that noncitizens who commit violent crimes, gang members, drug dealers, etc. should be punished through deportation. But, harsh immigration policies are not effective, simply because

Give several examples of how differences among organizations are reflected in their AIS. An organization s AIS must reflect its business processes and its line of business. For example: * Manufacturing companies will need a set of procedures and documents for the production cycle; non manufacturing companies do not. * Government agencies need procedures to track separately all inflows and outflows from various funds, to ensure that legal requirements about the use of specific funds are followed. * Financial institutions do not need extensive inventory control systems. * Passenger service companies (e.g., airlines, bus, and trains) generally receive payments in advance of providing services. Therefore, extensive billing and accounts receivable procedures are not needed; instead, they must develop procedures to account for prepaid revenue. * Construction firms typically receive payments at regular intervals, based on the percentage of work completed. Thus, their revenue cycles must be designed to track carefully all work performed and the

Unfortunately, a bundle of people only focus on a single passage and misrepresent the whole sutta. More details of this will be explored further in the later section, Buddhism and Authority. In The Buddha s Charter of Free Inquiry Soma Thera says that the KДЃlДЃma Sutta is teaching to the KДЃlДЃmas but is also an incentive of free inquiry. The teaching is exemption from the authoritative dogmas, intolerance and personal interest. He further insisted that if one were to discern the discourse correctly, wisdom is processed throughout. The sutta, he said, is very obvious in rejecting the bad and adopting the good way... the place of critical examination and analysis in the development of right vision. Buddha s insight into the matter of judgment is beyond our normal understanding. As the four solaces show that a noble life is not about faith in rebirth and retribution.
