Heart of Darkness is a novel by Joseph Conrad that centers on Marlow, a man who
goes to the Congo for a job opportunity. He meets a man named Kurtz, who is well
known by many. Once he gets to the Congo, he sees colonialism first hand. He sees
that the natives of the country were practically enslaved and forced to work under
very harsh conditions. The two major characters of the novel are Marlow and Kurtz.
There are many minor characters throughout the novel as well.
The novel shows readers how black men and women are referred to in such
animalistic terms. Not even describing them as humans, but savages. They are not
given any names, to the point to that they have no identity. When Marlow speaks
about England, he describes it to be a dreary. Dreary indeed as imperialism is

The Breakfast Club was a film created in 1985 and throughout the years proved to
be a classic. The movie, centered around 5 students, all in detention due to their
deviant behaviors. The principal, Mr. Vernon is the antagonist, tries to torment the

Burke, the father of the modern conservatism, is well known for his criticism, or
contempt of the French Revolution; assuming so, it is not hard to doubt that he in
fact sympathized with the American cause. If he is the true father of the
conservatism, then the reader may be surprised to hear that he sided with the
colonists; however, his decision makes a sense if we acknowledge that Burke
regarded the American Revolutionas a revolution that is not too far apart from that of
the Glorious Revolution, unlike the French Revolution. Paine would argue otherwise
by using the Universalist language that the French would used; however, in the eyes
of Burke, the colonists are the true Englishmen, who are asking for returns that are
entirely rational, and perhaps historical to the English culture of pursuing liberty.
French, in the other hand, did not have any concrete foundations for their pursuit of
liberty. The rule by the mass under equal findings were never heard of nor realized,

if they didn t know how to read and write. Reading is everywhere and is a very
important, as well as a necessary, part of the human life. Everyday activities include

Greek Art History
Chapter 15 primarily includes insightful information about the earliest art all the
way through to the Bronze Age. Art history is a very unique type of history
because it allows for people to visualize earlier life and how our ancestors survived,
perceived themselves and their surroundings during different time periods. This art
comes from different eras and locations such as the Paleolithic Period, Neolithic
Period, early civilization, Mesopotamia, and Egypt. Beginning somewhere around 2
million years prior to today, early hominids, in east central Africa, crafted the first

develop their own, very unique, methods of building. The greatest works of
Egyptian civilization are the Great Pyramids, which are comparable to the size of
mountains and severed as tombs for fallen Pharaohs. It was a common belief in
Egypt that in order for someone to reach the afterlife, their body on Earth had to be
preserved and taken care of with respect. All bodies were embalmed as quickly as
possible and then were buried in their tomb to rest for all eternity. Inside these
pyramids and tombs, architects spent a great deal of time and effort building false
hallways and walls in an effort to keep people from reaching the actual resting
place of the deceased. We were finally able to get a better understanding as to why
architects tried to keep people from reaching the tombs and why grave robbers were
so active when we discovered the Tomb of Tutankhamen. Tutankhamen, also known
as King Tut, died at the age of 18 and is so well documented because his tomb was
discovered in modern times with most of his valuables left inside. Another tomb that
has taught us a great amount about ancient Egypt is the Tomb of Nebamun. In this
