Alshams Agro Group is one of the largest fruit processing companies in the Middle East with an annual capacity of 60,000 tons. They process fruits like mango, grape, and oranges across 800 acres of farms. Solid and liquid wastes from processing include skin, seeds, peels, fiber and water, ranging from 1-50% depending on the fruit. To reduce losses, the company focuses on proper transportation, storage, optimized production lines and establishing criteria for raw materials. Current challenges include limited waste storage capacity and high costs of transporting and processing waste. Suggestions to address this include supporting waste-based companies, policies to reduce transport fees, and establishing on-site waste processing units.
