Russian anarchist and anti-war movement in the third year of full-scale warAntti Rautiainen
Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.

Up the Ratios Bylaws - a Comprehensive Process of Our Organizationuptheratios
Up the Ratios is a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the gap in STEM education for underprivileged students by providing free, high-quality learning opportunities in robotics and other STEM fields. Our mission is to empower the next generation of innovators, thinkers, and problem-solvers by offering a range of educational programs that foster curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
At Up the Ratios, we believe that every student, regardless of their socio-economic background, should have access to the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in today's technology-driven world. To achieve this, we host a variety of free classes, workshops, summer camps, and live lectures tailored to students from underserved communities. Our programs are designed to be engaging and hands-on, allowing students to explore the exciting world of robotics and STEM through practical, real-world applications.
Our free classes cover fundamental concepts in robotics, coding, and engineering, providing students with a strong foundation in these critical areas. Through our interactive workshops, students can dive deeper into specific topics, working on projects that challenge them to apply what they've learned and think creatively. Our summer camps offer an immersive experience where students can collaborate on larger projects, develop their teamwork skills, and gain confidence in their abilities.
In addition to our local programs, Up the Ratios is committed to making a global impact. We take donations of new and gently used robotics parts, which we then distribute to students and educational institutions in other countries. These donations help ensure that young learners worldwide have the resources they need to explore and excel in STEM fields. By supporting education in this way, we aim to nurture a global community of future leaders and innovators.
Our live lectures feature guest speakers from various STEM disciplines, including engineers, scientists, and industry professionals who share their knowledge and experiences with our students. These lectures provide valuable insights into potential career paths and inspire students to pursue their passions in STEM.
Up the Ratios relies on the generosity of donors and volunteers to continue our work. Contributions of time, expertise, and financial support are crucial to sustaining our programs and expanding our reach. Whether you're an individual passionate about education, a professional in the STEM field, or a company looking to give back to the community, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference.
We are proud of the positive impact we've had on the lives of countless students, many of whom have gone on to pursue higher education and careers in STEM. By providing these young minds with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed, we are not only changing their futures but also contributing to the advancement of technology and innovation on a broader scale.

Statistics from Space: Next-Generation Agricultural Production Information for Enhanced Monitoring of Food Security in Mozambique
1. STATISTICS FROM SPACE
Next-Generation Agricultural Production
Information for Enhanced Monitoring of
Food Security in Mozambique
Component #1. Stakeholder Engagement for Impacts
Led by IFPRI
2. Project Information
• Goal: To produce and disseminate accurate crop production statistics data
leveraging satellite remote sensing data for timely food policy decisions in
Mozambique
• Timeline: November 2022 – (early) 2025
• Implementing agencies:
1. International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI)
2. ITC/University of Twente (ITC)
3. Centro de Estudos de Políticas e Programas Agroalimentares (CEPPAG)
4. Seoul National University (SNU)
3. BACKGROUND
Challenges and Missed Opportunities in African Countries
CHALLENGES
1. The lack of reliable information on
agricultural production hinders efforts to
generate value from investments in the
data.
2. Agricultural statistical services remain
mainly logistical operations. Their ability
to capitalize on new technologies has
been limited.
3. The demand from the private sector is
weak. Actors have little experience with
production forecasts and estimates.
GOOD DATA CAN:
• Inform better policymaking on agricultural
investments, subsidies, and initiatives.
• Enable humanitarian organizations to plan
interventions, provide more effective and
cost-efficient services.
• Drive agricultural markets, with prices
often contingent on government statistics.
• Mitigate against seasonal price volatility,
with welfare implications for small
farmers.
4. BACKGROUND
Mozambique’s Agricultural Production Information System
SITUATION
• Some previous agricultural
production data analyzed as
unreliable.
• Low agricultural investment and
development in recent decades.
• Statistical analysis is often
constrained by a lack of
sufficiently disaggregated data.
CAUSES
1. Lack of coordination and
coherence between agencies.
2. Misleading artifacts from
missing data.
3. Insufficient budget and
technical capacity.
4. Information designed to serve
the government, not farmers
5. BACKGROUND
Republic of Korea Government’s ODA Priorities
The ROKG's ODA strategic goals are:
1) Pursuing humanitarian values
2) Supporting innovation and
development in developing
countries
3) Pursuing coexistence of the global
community and mutual prosperity
4) Upgrading partnerships.
The ODA tasks include supporting
countries to overcome the food
crisis, supporting digital
transformation, and creating a
foundation for economic and social
development.
Agricultural information system is
a synergetic enabling area relevant
to all these goals and key tasks.
6. BACKGROUND
ROK and Mozambique
ROK Prime Minister Han Duck-soo
officially visited Mozambique in
November 2022 and met with
Mozambique President Philippe
Jacinto Nyusi to discuss ways to
strengthen infrastructure and
development cooperation.
This project outcome will contribute
to the strengthening of practical and
technical cooperation between two
countries.
7. Project Components
1. Stakeholder
engagement
• Lead: IFPRI
• Baseline
assessment,
workshops,
trainings, and
other
stakeholder
engagements
2. Enhanced area
frames
• Lead: ITC
• Satellite data
acquisition,
stratification,
and area stats
applications
3. Groundtruth
data
• Lead: CEPPAG
• Digitally
collecting
quality
groundtruth
data to support
2 & 4.
4. Crop analytics
• Lead: SNU
• Process-based
models and AI-
based crop yield
forecasting for
timely food
policy decisions.
8. COMPONENT 1
Stakeholder Engagement for Impacts
Activities
1. Stocktaking of satellite-based crop
production monitoring activities in
Mozambique
2. Assessing the baseline performance
of official crop production reports
and monitoring progress over time.
3. Engaging with key government
agencies working on crop
production statistics to identify
opportunities for incorporating
satellite-based data.
Key Stakeholders
1. Gov’t: Ministries of
Agriculture/Finance/Land &
Environment, National Institute of
Statistics, National Geospatial
Development Agency, etc.
2. Academics: UEM and other higher-
level academic institutions in each
focus provinces
3. Farmers' organizations (UNAC)
4. Private sectors
9. COMPONENT 1
Stakeholder Engagement for Impacts
Questions to the audience
• What will be the most relevant official crop production statistics database
or report that we can target to provide technical support using satellite-
based analysis?
• How can we identify key technical staffs to provide technical supports and
train to use satellite-based crop monitoring methodologies?
• What do you (stakeholders) wish to get out from this project? What's your
biggest concerns/wishes? Where, and how, do you want to utilize satellite-
based crop monitoring analyses?
