Modal Verbs
The Modal auxiliary verbs can be used to add a particular meaning to a
tense. A particular meaning can be expressed as necessity, possibility or
impossibility, ability or inability, prohibition, an advice to do or not to do
something, a suggestion, an invitation, a request, an offer, etc.
Here are the list of all modal axullary
 Should
 May
 Might
 Can
 Could
 Must
 Will
 Would
Should
Modal Verb Should is mainly used to give Advice or make recommendations,
Suggestions, Order, Obligation and also to talk about probability and
expectation.
Formula
Subject + Should + Verb(form 1st) + Object
Examples
 You Should Come On time.
 Ali Should do home work.
 He should attent the party.
May
Modal verb May has different uses in spaking English. when ever we are not
sure about something or we express possibility so we use Modal verb May. It's
also used for polite request and permission, and also use for expressing a wish,
and for future prediction etc.
Formula
Subject + May + Verb(form 1st) + Object
Examples
 Ali may be in his office. -Possibility
 May you live long. -Expressing a wish
 May i go outside? -polite Permission
Might
Modal Verb Might meaning is to show a week possibility and also shows
something has possibly happened now or happened at some time in the past.
Formula
Subject + Might + Verb(form 1st) + Object
Examples
 He might go to school.
 Alina might give a presentation.
 They might play cricket.
Must
Modal verb MUST has two sense the first one is Strong Advice which is used
for We use it for strongly Advice , Order and Obligation to someone. and the
second one is Logical which is used when ever we realise something change in
any thing and take as an evidence to believe on it and then we predict
something for someone.
Formula
Subject + Must + Verb(form 1st) + Object
Examples
Strong Advice
 You must learn English
 You must go to the office.
 Alina must come in the party.
Logical
 You must learn English.
 Alina must teach somewhere.
 They must play Cricket.
Can
Modal verb Can is used to express Choice, ability, inability, Opportunity and
Permission/Request . In spoken english Can modal verb is informal to use it's
not a polite in speaking.
Formula
Subject + Can + Verb(form 1st) + Object
Examples
 She can run fast.
 Ali can cook food.
 He can ride a bike.
Could
Modal verb Could for the past tense of Can, To talk about our past ability, and
also use of could for a polite offer, polite permission, polite request And it's very
formal to use in spoken English.
Formula
Subject + Could + Verb(form 1st) + Object
Examples
 He could run fast.
 Alina could cook food.
 Ali could ride a bike
Will
Modal verb Will is used when you are certain that the future action is going to
take place. The subject of the sentence executing the future action is committed
to doing it.
Formula
Subject + Could + Verb(form 1st) + Object
Examples
 He could run fast.
 Alina could cook food.
 Ali could ride a bike
WOULD
The use of Would modal verb has manyt uses in English, which include polite
request, taking permission, invitations, making arrangements and talking about
preferences.
Formula
Subject + Would + Verb(form 1st) + Object
Examples
 I would give you cell phone.
 Ali would go with us for a picnic.
 They would go to office.
