The Effects Of Dyslexia On Children With Dyslexia Essay
Many learning disabilities world wide are over looked if a child doesn t learn at the rate of the other
children, but a teacher might assume that the student is mentally challenged. That might not be the
case. Students world wide struggle with the learning disability known as dyslexia. Dyslexia is known
for the way it twists words and numbers in ones head. It s almost as if the persons mind is playing a
trick on itself. The person might read the text backward or even say his or her thoughts backwards.
Just because one has dyslexia does not mean that he or she cannot major in any specific major.
Someone with dyslexia may choose which ever major he or she may like, although it will be harder
for the person and so they will have to put more time in and work harder than everyone else. This is
true in nursing students with dyslexia; they have to put more hard work in than anyone else and yet
they still might not be where they want to be.
In the article Experience of Nursing Students with Dyslexia on Clinical Placement by Christopher
McPheat, the author informs people that students with dyslexia need more help in the clinical setting.
He writes with a serious tone to let the audience know that this is not a light situation and to take it
very seriously. Although there is no greater risk of harm with nurses in dyslexia, they still need more
help. McPheat gives suggestions of how they could get help. The author who is a staff nurse has
credibility writing this article because

A Closer Look At The Period Between 1930 And 1941
By the mid 1930s Reza Shah s dictatorial style of rule caused dissatisfaction in Iran, particularly
among religious and intellectual elites. Contradictory to strong will of modernization, Reza shah
believed in monophony. A closer look at the period between 1930 and 1941 furthermore reveals a
concentration of important changes around the mid 1930s: The political climate became more
restrictive, as reflected in the decree against collectivist ideas in 1931 or the Gowhar Shad incident in
1935; the ruling oligarchy was exchanged, exemplified in Teymurtash s dismissal in 1932 and the
increasingly important role of the police (shahrbani) in controlling the public sphere; also, the state s
general attitude became more and more xenophobic. These trends and events had an equally strong
impact on cultural life.
Cultural mobility was not wanted in all aspects, he wanted to control it but he did not know that
culture flow is not controllable even a dictator can not do that. Therefore:censorship.
Due to strict censorship of politically criticism, many plays were prohibited. Satire was not tolerated,
unless it was aimed at the backward previous Qajar dynasty, and because each play had to be cleared
by censors, drama found an outlet in the writing and performance at patriotic and historical dramas
eulogizing the glories of the past. Because of bawdy and often political nature of performances, in
1930 Reza Shah Pahlavi Censorship officers began demanding to see texts of the plays in

Salmonella Lab Report
Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium (S. Typhimurium) is a pathogen commonly associated with
localized intestinal infection in humans. For its survival and propagation as a facultative intracellular
pathogen, this Gram negative bacterium has developed a variety of ways to manipulate host cell
processes (Malik Kale et al. 2011). Besides phagocytic internalization (by, e.g., macrophages,
neutrophils, or dendritic cells), Salmonella infection is characterized by the bacterial induced uptake
of the pathogen into non phagocytic enterocytes of intestinal epithelium (Perrett Zhou 2013).
Essential to the pathogenesis and colonization of host tissues by S. typhimurium are virulence factors
encoded on different regions of chromosome, known as Salmonella ... Show more content on

This mechanism of defense is called colonization resistance (Sekirov et al. 2010). Resident microbiota
and incoming pathogens compete for resources in the intestine. In a healthy intestine, normal
microflora establishes mutually beneficial relations with intestinal mucosa and effectively eliminates
pathogens. Inflammatory host responses triggered by virulence factors of S. Typhimurium can alter
conditions in the intestine and shift the competition between protective microbiota and the incoming
pathogen, which is able to survive in and profit from the altered niche (Stecher et al. 2007), whereas to
intestinal microbiota host responses are unfavorable (Sekirov et al.

Tom Hanks Congressional Medal Of Freedom
Tom Hanks recently received a Congressional Medal of Freedom from the United States President
Barack Obama. He was awarded for his outstanding work in the industry of film and acting.
According to the President, he only awards the medals to those who made outstanding contributions in
order to make the American society great. And according to the actor, he would not be able to get to
where he is without the arts.
The veteran actor boasts of how much he loves Cleveland. Tom Hanks recalled how he started as an
intern at the Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival back in 1977. And to make his visit at Cuyahoga
Community College, or Tri C memorable, he revealed how he first started.
Tom Hanks spoke to hundreds of students at Tri C last week, December 2, 2016, about how he
decided to pack his bags and join a small theater company. He told the college students about he got
rejected the first time, cites Cleveland19. He auditioned for a play in college when he came to
Cleveland and did not get that part. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Looking back at his past failures, Tom Hanks then teased that he won the Congressional Medal of
Freedom and thought he did okay.
It is a humbling experience for students to listen to Tom Hanks and his career talk. He is known for his
work in Forrest Gump, Apollo 13, Saving Private Ryan, Cast Away, The Da Vinci Code series and his
vocal work in the animated movies The Toy Story.
While in Cleveland, Ohio, Tom Hanks also visited a benefit that caters to the area s film and TV
industry. He is now one of the highest paid actors in the United States and has been nominated for
several awards, and won a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award for Best Actor in

Similarities Between Beowulf And Katniss
You probably never thought about it, but epic and contemporary heroes can contain similar qualities
and characteristics, for example Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Games and Beowulf from
Beowulf. Authors may be trying to bring back old tales of heroism into up and coming generations.
After carefully contemplating the abundance of courage, bravery, and leadership portrayed by both
Katniss Everdeen from the book the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and Carolyn McCormick and
Beowulf from the epic poem Beowulf by Unknown. It is shown that both characters identify with the
same core values of what it truly means to be a hero.
The first characteristic shared by both Beowulf and Katniss show bravery throughout their stories.
Beowulf s bravery shines through when he defeats Grendel s mother. Who is said to be even more
stronger than Grendel himself. He was also dragged to the bottom of the ocean and instead of giving
up, he killed nine monsters. Finally Beowulf meets his big enemy Grendel and even defeats him as
well. Being able to defeat something that is obviously bigger than you is a true sign of bravery.
Likewise Katniss portrays similar bravery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Katniss does this by standing up for the unspoken that live in districts that are being treated poorly by
the Capitol. She is never hesitant to speak up for what she believes in. Her courage led to a revolution
against the Capitol. Her stubborn ways and hard head give her the drive to never give up on
something, until the goal has been accomplished. While Beowulf always risks his life for the greater
good and is not afraid to fight on his own. His courage comes from his ability to fight on even when
he is the only one. During his last fight he is left dying, but instead of giving up and leaving he sits
and waits for his end. That is true courage, because he did not know what was next, but he was ready

Urinary Bladder Research Paper
My organ is the urinary bladder for the organ paper. The function of the urinary bladder is a storage
container temporarily for urine, until it is expelled through the urethra. The elasticity of the bladder is
unmatched as it has the ability to increase in size to make room for increases in urine volume from
600 to 800 ml at maximum capacity. The reason for this elasticity is due to the visceral muscles and
transitional epithelium located in the walls of this hollow organ, that allows this distensibility enabling
it to fill and empty multiple times every day. Another function of the bladder is to aid in expelling
urine from the body by contracting the detrusor muscle as well as the relaxing of the urethral
sphincter; the external urethral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cardiovascular system plays an immensely important role in the urinary system, without proper
blood supply to the kidneys there would be no filtration and no urine to pass into the bladder. Proper
blood supply is essential and renal failure would be catastrophic to the process of urination.
Maintaining healthy renal arteries and veins is very important also to the respiratory system which
keeps the tissues oxygenated, without this the tissue could not perform the duties required or even stay
alive. The immune system could undesirably affect the kidneys as well, which would impede the flow
of urine to the bladder. Acute or systemic inflammation on the urinary system would directly affect the
bladder as well, this is why we need the immune system to keep this inflammation at bay. Kidney
damage from this would directly affect all the systems mentioned here, so it is very important to keep
the immune system healthy not just for the sake of the urinary system but almost every system of the
human body. The urinary system although often overlooked is extremely valuable and required to stay
alive and maintain homeostasis. So is the bladder and if you appreciate the ability to hold your urine in
until you can find a nearby restroom you should be thankful for it as

Romanticism In Fredrick Douglass
Critics struggle to fit Douglass s narrative into a literary genre, some believe it fits within the realm of
Romanticism while others argue his narrative belongs under Realism. In nineteen century America,
the African American voice was missing from literature. Slave narratives were not taken seriously and
most slaves were not taught how to read or write. Douglass s was a self taught slave his narrative was
a game changer Douglass was considered an intellectual and respected by most as a reputable author.
Douglass s narrative is difficult to place within genre because it has aspects of both realism and
romanticism. It is realistic to have a narrative explaining the horrors of slavery: some of the horrors so
terrible it is hard for someone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means, that Douglass s work does not need to have actually happened to be considered a realistic
narrative, it just needs to seem like it could have happened and is a normal occurrence for slaves. After
considering this, there are reasons that this narrative became so popular. Douglass s narrative does not
portray an everyday occurrence of American slavery it is about one man who, with luck on his side,
made it to freedom. Every slave did suffer, slaves were beaten, raped, whipped, and worked to death
this narrative does catch the sorrow of slave life but it goes out of the ordinary. The famous line You
have seen how a man was made a slave; you shall see how a slave was made a man. (Douglass, 73) is
a chasm used to exemplify this. Overcoming oppression in the scene where Douglass takes on Mr.
Covey the slave breaker (Douglass, 66) would not be a normal occurrence, Douglass triumphs and
becomes the embodiment of a romantic hero. To overcome Covey, Douglas creates a need to invent a
self outside of the active oppression around him. (Wessel). Instead of being realistic, this narrative is
an example of propaganda, Douglass romanticises the fight to get his readers attention, to give slaves
hope, and to grasp Northerners following in joining the abolitionists.
While the reality of Douglass s experiences is anything but a

Substance Abuse And Its Effects
SUBSTANCE ABUSE Researchers state that almost half of individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia
in the United States also self medicate with alcohol and other drugs (Elements Behavioral Health,
2014). This is suggested due to individuals attempting to lessen the symptoms of their disorder. As
discussed previously symptoms can include hearing and seeing things that others don t hear or see,
problems falling asleep or staying asleep and problems with concentration and memory. In an effort to
lessen these symptoms alcohol and other drugs are used to induce sleep (NIMH, 2014). Research
suggests that approximately fifty percent of individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia have a co
occurring substance abuse disorder. The most common used are alcohol, marijuana and tobacco
(Green, Drake, Brunette Noordsy, 2007) (Dube, 2012). In contrast to what individuals diagnosed with
schizophrenia think they may be achieving by using alcohol and other drugs, research states that
substance use may actually modify the dysfunction in the brain reward center by increasing the
symptoms (Green et.al, 2007). Self medicating with alcohol and other drugs can often lead to
disruptions in gaining access to treatment. Pharmacological treatment is seen as one of the most
effective ways to assist with symptom reduction, and using alcohol and other drugs often interfere
(MHA, n.d). Some research studies have proposed that when an individual consumes any sort of mood
altering substance, such as alcohol

Impact of Globalization on Non Western Culture Essay
Impact of Globalization on Non Western Cultures
Examples of Globalization s Impact
Globalization is far reaching in this day and age. Globalization is the worldwide flow of goods,
services, money, people, information, and culture. It leads to a greater interdependence and mutual
awareness among the people of the world (Tischler, 2011, 2007, p. 430). One non Western culture that
has been impacted by globalization is China. An example of the impact of globalization on China is
their economy. Since joining the World Trade Organization, China has transformed from a culture that
relied on economic self sufficiency and shunned the thought of globalization to an economy that is
progressively more open to trade and foreign investment.

Indian culture before the transformation of globalization was a male dominated society with very little
respect or regard for females. According to India s constitution, women are legal citizens of the
country and have equal rights with men (Indian Parliament), however due to lack of acceptance from
the male dominated society; Indian women have suffered immensely prior to globalization (Tripod,
n.d.). Indian culture after the transformation of globalization has had an innervation of mass media,
most prominent being satellite television bringing images and dialogue from countless other cultures.
This global influence has started to turn the tables in the marked sexist roles in Indian culture prior to
globalization.
Analysis of Example
An analysis of example can be derived from the aforementioned discriminatory sexist roles in India
that prior to globalization highly favored the male population verses the female population. The
female population in India has previously been less than second class citizens. Indian women s
cultural roles have been previously defined by traditional customs that are centuries old and no longer
apply in this day and age. Previous to globalization, Indian women were to take total domestic
responsibility. They were not allowed formal education as the majority of teachers and pupils were
male, and the chances of a female remaining chaste was slim in those settings, and related to tradition,

There are operation decisions made by the chiefs that directly impact the workforce. The OPFFA

and not for disciplinary reasons without appropriate documentation. The most recent operational
decision was to rotate all personnel from their current stations and or shifts. The OPFFA worked with
the administrators to compromise on the execution of this process. Instead of all members being
placed by the Chiefs, only the officers were placed, the remainder of the workforce was able to choose

Before contract negotiations, the OPFFA took a survey to determine the priority of negotiable items

characteristic of Louie that helped him get through the camps were optimism and resiliency.

Human Beings And The Human Body
The Earth is surrounded by different kinds of living creatures since thousand years ago from humans
up to small tiny bacteria that live inside this planet. But before we go on do you know what is a
bacterium or bacteria? So basically Bacterium or bacteria are small tiny living organism that can only
be seen using microscope and it won t be able to show its body if we look at it using our naked eyes.
All of the living creatures that are found in earth may have some interactions with other creatures like
humans and animals, even interactions between human beings and small tiny bacteria in many
different ways. Human beings and small tiny bacteria could have any interaction in many different
ways; due to its tiny size the bacteria are able to come inside the human body from holes from your

Ways in Which the Culture Influences the International...
1. Introduction
International marketing or business is uniquely different from the local market because the product
price, place and promotion is vastly different from what is been offered to local customers (Johansson,
2000) With the emergence of the information technology, cross border marketing has never been a
distant dream. However, it has never been easier even for giant multinational companies to face
challenges that come in international business. The biggest challenge comes from the culture which
varies from country to country.
At its basic understanding, international marketing engages the firm in making one or more marketing
mix decisions across national boundaries. At its complex level, it involves the firm in establishing ...

Similarly, in any country whether they are Muslim or non Muslim state, when there are Muslim in the
community they have to cater with halal certified meet as well chicken. Therefore, this cultural factor
has major influence on KFC, McDonalds, as well as Pizza Hut or for that matter all companies who
are involved in restaurant and food sector. Hotel chains in Saudi Arabia are been influenced by the
culture of the society and the country. For instance, Hilton hotel chains in Saudi Arabia and close to
the Mecca and Medina serves mostly to pilgrims rather than the tourist. Hence all activities in Hilton
chain needs to be catered to religious cultural activities (Fallon, 2010).
2. Adaptation and standardization
It was in the Fordism era in the early 19th century where standardization was the most widely used
strategy across the industrialized countries (Johansson, 2000). Henry Ford when he manufactured
Ford Car, the company produced only black Ford. Standardization refers a company providing the
same identical product across the globe (Keegon, 2002). Most of the time they are considered to be
global brands (Johanson, 2000). Some of the example that could be considered global brands is Coca
Cola, McDonalds or Amazon. However, they too have some degree of adaptation in taste or price
when it comes to marketing in a different market. According to Carl Ritzer (2007) in its journal on

How Aminotransferases Are Enzymes Involved On Catalyzing...
Introduction:
Aminotransferases are enzymes involved in catalyzing reactions between amino acid and α keto acid.
Amino acid such as L glutamate contains an amine group whereas α keto acid such as pyruvate
contains a keto group. The amine group of L glutamate is exchanged with the keto group of α keto
acid resulting in the α keto acid becoming an amino acid and the amino acid becoming a keto acid.
Aminotransferase catalyzes the reaction of transferring α amino group of L glutamate to pyruvate in
exchange for the α keto group of pyruvate where L alanine and α ketoglutarate are formed.
Aminotransferases are specific for the amino acid formed and reactions catalyzed by
aminotransferases are reversible. Aminotransferase used in the formation of alanine is called
glutamate pyruvate aminotransferase (GPT) where in the formation of aspartate, glutamate
oxaloacetate aminotransferase (GOT) is used. (Vroon, D., Israili, Z, 1990)
In part 1, the aim is to examine the specificity as well as the catalytic activity of GPT in freshly
minced beef heart extract by incubation and chromatographic assays (paper chromatography and thin
layer chromatography) respectively. Paper chromatography is used to separate and identify individual
amino acid components. Amino acid components migrate vertically at different rates according to their
attraction for mobile non water phase in comparison to their attraction for stationary water phase.
Therefore, hydrophobic amino acid migrate faster than

INTRODUCTION
Income inequality and its effect on environment have been highlighted by a number of authors. The
previous paper in this regard highlighted general and government specific aspects of the two
determinants of environment, environment degradation and health. The aim of this paper is to
highlight the environmental emergency that emerges due income inequality. The two aspects to be
studied under this emergency would be increasing environmental deterioration through pollution and
the relationship of income inequality with mortality. The basic theme of this paper is sustainability and

According to Beaglehole and Bonita, mortality refers to the rate of death in the society. Since the
theme of this paper is sustainability, the focus is on mortality aspect of health in terms of variable
household incomes. This implicates the severe consequences that may emerge as a result from lack of
governmental focus on equal distribution of wealth in a society. A number of previous researches were
considered in this regard to highlight the most vulnerable segments within the purr segment that
reflect low mortality rates. The gist of this aspect lies in the relationship between income and mortality
rates that result from inequitable resource allocation and income distribution (Beaglehole and Bonita,
1997).
INCOME INEQUALITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION According to Laurent,
democracy is aspired and sought by many countries however, environmental equality is not considered
as one of the core reasons for it. Isolating the rich and the poor segments reveals that environmental
consideration by the upper segments has a trickledown effect on the middle class. According to Indira
Gandhi at an environmental summit in 1972, poverty should be regarded as the biggest pollutants.
This is because social emergency leads to use of resources for pressing issues like catering to the
growing needs of the people instead of focusing on sustainability or preservation of the environment.

His privacy affected not only his writing but, also the relationship he had with his son. Throughout

Influence of Indian Warfare on the Development of the...
Influence of Indian Warfare on the Development of the United States Army
Throughout history, when two or more armed groups oppose one another in battle, certain tactics are
transferred from one to the other. These tactics are usually perceived by either group as superior to
their own. This process of transferring tactics often occurs over a length of time, and usually
encompass a number of conflicts between the groups. This is a natural phenomenon for armed forces
that mimics the Darwinian Theory of Evolution; the strongest survive, the weak die. For a group to
become the strongest in armed conflict, it must employ superior tactics and doctrine over its enemy.
One method that an armed force uses to become stronger is to adapt the ... Show more content on

The militia was strictly a local institution to a colony s townships or counties. They consisted of males
usually between the age of sixteen and sixty, who were obliged to keep weapons in their homes and be
prepared to be called in the event of Indian attack. Periodically throughout the year, the militias were
called to train at their local county or town seat (Bell 28). Although the local militia trained together,
they rarely fought together. Whenever a colony was threatened, the government of the colony directed
the militia commander of the locality that was threatened to assemble his men. This commander
would then muster the most able of his militia, usually the youngest, in the number he thought he
would need. This was also similar to the process used to form a militia for an expedition into Indian
country. Upon completion of the defense of the colony or the expedition, the men would immediately
disband and return to their homes (Bell 29).
In the early days of the militias, though the value of their training was minimal in respect to that of
their contemporary European professionals, the militiamen were competent Indian fighters. This was
due in part to the nature of frontier life. Males were required to develop skill in the use of firearms
from an early age, as hunting was the primary source of food in

Elsie and Her Mother in Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit
In a story of a young girl coming of age and finding her sexuality in a very religious community, it is
key to have a female figure that plays a key role for the character. A mother should play the key role
but what happens when this role is confused with a very spiritual role? Where will a young girl turn to
when her life goes against the rules society has set for her?
Jeanette has lived a sheltered life with no influence on her except for the church. Her mother is a strict
Christian with a deep resentment for things and people not within her fold. Being brought up in a
society where going against the norm is a sin. A society that shakes its head at acts of individualism

These differences between these two women are what make Jeanette a rounded person, if not a
confused one at first. Jeanette gained a sense a self with her mother. She knew she was to work with
the Lord and teach his words to others. Her goal in life was to go and be a missionary, to teach others
how to believe in God. Combined with this imbedded sense of self is the confidence Elsie gave her.
Elsie not only understood
the word of the Lord and came from within the society Jeanette grew up in, she had a sense of the
world around her, that the world didn?t start and stop with the preaching of the Lord. Elsie gave
Jeanette a feeling of fellowship, a deep friendship that was based on true feelings, not the Lord.
In one part of the book Elsie helps Jeanette with the transition of home schooling, which was based on
biblical texts, to public schooling. Elsie gave Jeanette a way of incorporating her biblical background
into a public school setting, even if it did shock and raise eyebrows. The older woman gave Jeanette a
much needed avenue to express herself. At this time her mother is not too upset with the friendship.
She likes the reaction Jeanette is getting from her religious art works and other biblical oddities that
seem out of place in public school. Elsie is still seen as a fellow follower, a follower of Jeanette?s
mother.
The relationship between Elsie and her mother gets strained after Jeanette is

Rush Hour Tokyo By Joy Kogawa Summary
The poem I have selected is Rush Hour Tokyo by Joy Kogawa. This poem explores the city of Tokyo,
which is located in Japan. Tokyo is known for its bullet trains, landmarks such as the Tokyo Tower and
the Tokyo Sky tree, and being very busy.Subject Matter The poem represents Tokyo as a city that is
over populated, which leads to congestion but the population keeps growing. The poem explores
Tokyo in relation to its congestion and quality of life. The persona s attitude to the city is best
described as negative as evidenced by using a negative tone, the use of metaphors to describe her
negative feeling to the cities and the majority of negative adjectives. Themes Joy Kogawa uses her
description of the city to explore broader themes such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This poem also has four stanzas and punctuation. This poem has a subject matter of how Sydney has
many cons, which Kenneth Slessor thinks is a beautiful city. The theme of the poem is to look for the
positive things in everyday life. On the other hand, Rush Hour Tokyo by Joy Kogawa contains simile
and assonance. This poem is in one stanza and has no punctuation. The subject matter is that Tokyo is
congested and never stops growing in population. The theme of the poem is that you don t know what
you have till its gone. This poem appealed to me because I am half Japanese, but I have not
experienced rush hour in Tokyo before, so I wanted to see how Joy Kogawa explained it. After reading
this poem, I was glad to have not been in rush hour at Tokyo before, and I also felt strong sympathy
for the people who have to go through that every day. After reading this poem, I thought about how
grateful and lucky I was not to be shoved on a train and packed like sardines with other strangers. This
poem influenced a new perspective of Tokyo by making me think that under all of the beautiful and
the iconic landmarks, and technology, Japan still cannot solve the trouble of people suffering everyday

The Effect Of Morale On Employee s Job Attitudes And...
Title: The effect of morale on employee s job attitudes and emotions.
Thesis: Does the morale of employees in the company influence their job attitudes and emotions? If
the employee morale is high, they would have a positive attitude and productivity would increase or
be stable. However, if the employees morale is diminished or nonexistent, their attitude and emotion
towards work would be negative. By having a pessimistic attitude would signify that the employee
morale is low. Furthermore, this could potentially prohibit the productivity of the employee and
damage their job attitude if no actions are taken.
I. Introduction
1. Describe what morale is and the significance of it.
2. Morale is the psychological state of an individual as expressed in self confidence, enthusiasm, and
loyalty to a cause or company. (Merriam Webster dictionary) The significance of morale in the work
center is crucial; because it ties into the employee s attitude and emotions
i. Morale is defined in multiple ways, but in the work environment morale is defined as the degree to
which an employee feels good about his/her work and work environment . (Chungsup, Lee 2014)
II. Background
1. Newman Harrison (2006) states that job attitudes defined as desired contribution made to one s
work role.
2. Morale intertwines with job attitudes and individual emotions, because morale is based on the
workers emotions. If a worker is happy it will most likely be that their morale would be high.

Black Widow Spiders Essay
Adult black widow spiders have a shiny, black, rounded, circular abdomen and
are about 1/3 inch long (about 1 1/2 inches when their legs are spread).
Adult spiders have two reddish or yellowish triangles on their bottom which
looks like an hourglass marking, and their body color is dark colored usually
black or sometimes dark brown. They are usually recognized because of their
red or red orange hourglass design on the bottom of their abdomen. This
pattern is changeable and may look like two separated spots. In some spiders
there is no pattern on the abdomen. The immature stages of both sexes of the
widow spiders have red or red orange or yellow spots and strips on the top
of their abdomen. Females are colored gray ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Death usually results
from respiratory paralysis. People with a history of high blood pressure are
at the greatest risk. But immediate medical treatment can reduce the danger
from widow bites and has reduced fatalities to very low rates in recent
years. However, this spider is considered the most venomous spider in North
America.
If you are bitten stay calm, get the spider, if you can for positive
identification and because of the possible severity of black widow bites you
should get immediate medical attention is important. If you apply an
antiseptic such as iodine or hydrogen peroxide prevents infection.
Physicians can inject calcium gluconate to help the effects of the toxin so
it is less harmful. This helps support levels of calcium salts that are low
by the effects of a bite. You can also get black widow antiserum. Since the
toxin moves quickly through the body trying to suck out the poison doesn t
work. People younger than 16 and older than 60, especially those with a
heart condition might have to stay at a hospital.
The black widow spider is shy and usually not aggressive and bites can be
rare even when there are lots of them. The adult female spiders usually stay
in their webs unless they have to because of the temperature or if their web
gets destroyed. They do not search for food and they eat the insects they
get in their webs and are eaten when they get to them. Human bites

Harrison Bergeron Response Essay
Vonnegut Response In the story, Harrison Bergeron , written by Kurt Vonnegut, we read about a
society that is equal. Harrison Bergeron is a futuristic story that shows the ill effects of an attempt by
the government to make everyone equal or fair. The only way to accomplish this was to penalize or
handicap the talented, so the untalented could be equal to them. In the opening paragraph, Vonnegut
sets the story in the future by mentioning the year is 2081. He also provides an allusion to the
constitution by mentioning the 211th, 212th, and 213th amendments. This illustrates how much the
country has changed considering that there were only 22 constitutional amendments at the time the
story was written. Vonnegut makes it very easy to see ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By making everyone equal, the government just penalized everyone who wasn t the worst at
everything. This meant there was no person who excelled in anything. Everyone had the same abilities
which were very limited. Even though they all were equal after the handicaps, the best still stuck out
as they had handicaps that were visible. Those who didn t have to be handicapped were likely jealous
of those who had many so it still didn t fix the equality problem. This is similar to some government
activities today such as the, No child left behind act. This act penalizes those who are good in school
by limiting their opportunities, which allows the struggling students a better chance to pass. All this
does is hinder the talented. It doesn t help society or increase the quality of life. It is similar to the
socialist governments that believe everyone should make the same money. The socialists believe those
who worked hard and prosper should have to give up what they have so the poor who did nothing to
earn the money can be equal. This over time causes the productive people to be less productive
because they have no incentive anymore. This is why the poor or lazy people, are always pushing for
equality. If they can be equal monetarily wise without doing anything to get there, why wouldn t they

Redistricting, The Process Of Adjusting States
Redistricting, the process of adjusting states district lines to even the population among said districts,
has transformed into a science. Depending on a state s population, a certain amount of agents
represent that state in the House of Representatives. Well each representative has his or her own
district in their home state. These districts then play a role in electing that specific representative to the
House. This seems like a standard government function, but the Constitution does not specify any
limits on how or by who the districts should be drawn. This process has been left to the state
legislatures. The issue that we run into is that once placed in legislature hands, those in power have the
ability to draw the congressional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, let s say we have two districts in the same state. District A contains 900,000 people
compared to district B with 100,000. This means that the people in district A have about one eighth of
the vote that the people in district B have. The supreme court ruled that this was unconstitutional, and
now redistricting requires districts to be equivalent based on population. This was one of some court
cases that has constricted states when dealing with redistricting, but states still have a lot of wiggle
room. As long as they follow strict population equality and do not dilute the votes of ethnic minorities,
the states are in the clear. The subject at hand here is not about the legality of gerrymandering, but
whether or not the redistricting process should be nonpartisan. I believe that the current redistricting
process is unfair and illogical, and that the process should be nonpartisan to take the partisan politics
out of the process, create more competitive elections, correct this flaw in the democratic process, and
relieve some gridlock that redistricting produces.
The United States of America has been built on a democratic foundation to protect and serve we the
people. The current government has two main parties, the Republicans and the Democrats, and they
will stop at nothing to maintain their positions within the government. Unfortunately, gerrymandering

Zoos And The Conservation Of Animals
A family is enjoying a trip to their local zoo when they stop to look at the tigers. The child sprints over
to exhibit with excitement; he notices a red sign stuck the glass of the enclosure which reads,
Endangered. Daddy, if the zoo is keeping the tigers in a cage in order to save them, when will they let
them back into the wild to live free? Based on statistics from public zoos across America, the
unfortunate answer to this question is a resounding Never. It has become noticeably evident that zoos
are not a current resource for the protection of rare and endangered species. Animals should not be
kept in zoos, because they fail at the conservation of animal species, provide little or no education
about habitat and the behavior of animals, and harm the animals physically and mentally.
Primarily, zoos fail at the conservation of animal species. Zoos claim that certain species would
become extinct if places like zoos did not exist, but they ultimately fail at the conservation of animal
species. Animals who are endangered will likely never be released back into natural habitats ( Zoos:
Pitiful Prisons par. 9). The Author of Captive Animal Protection Society states, Many zoos have no
contact of any kind with any reintroduction program, meaning that once the animals are introduced to
zoos, they are likely to remain there. One U.S. study found no compelling evidence for zoos and
aquariums to make the claim that they promote interest of conservation upon conversing with

High Cost Of Entry And Market Domination Limits Entrants...
Barriers to Entry High cost of entry and market domination limits entrants into the industry. The
upfront cost for new airlines is capital intensive. In addition, it s difficult for new airlines to obtain
airport slots for takeoff and landing which are determined by the airports. Established airlines already
hold the monopoly over slots at certain airports, making it harder for new airlines to infiltrate (Airlines
Industry Profile, 2014). The industry is also dominated by five key airlines; American, United, Delta,
Southwest and JetBlue which make it difficult for new airlines to gain market share. At 40 of the 100
largest U.S. airports, a single airline controls a majority of the market. At 93 of the top 100, one or two
airlines control a majority of the seats (Koenig Mayerowitz, 2015). In addition, with fuel being the
number one cost for airlines, the volatile fuel prices make it hard for new airlines to make a profit.
Domestic airlines in the U.S. spend a combined $2 to $5 billion on jet fuel every month. As a stat up
airlines, the price paid for fuel is the same weather planes are full or empty which could stop new
airlines from entering the industry. Lastly, the FAA has strict regulations which discourage new
airlines from entering the industry. All new entrants must abide by Federal Aviation Authority
regulations on airworthiness, pilot competence, and related issues (Airline Industry Profile, 2014).
Overall, entry into the airline industry is high and there is

characters and the setting seem racist in our times, if we can understand Behn s point of view, we can
appreciate how innovative this piece was. The fact that the main character was African was a big step.
The book was very clever in the word choice it used and style but sometimes it was challenging to

In doing so he is able to give emotion to nature thus playing a role in the emotion of the actual

I believe that one of the main reasons why this restaurant is so successful is the fact that people who
eat here enjoy the unique environment and want to come back. The design at all Cheesecake Factories
is very elegant and the architecture at each restaurant is more developed and fancy. People often come
back for more because, even though they know the prices are slightly higher than at other restaurants,
the meal sizes are bigger and of a better quality. The Cheesecake Factory takes pride in being known
for giving their customers large portions of food which is why many of them take the leftovers back
home with them all the time.
One of the strength is the common knowledge of cheesecakes. When people think of
Cheesecake Factory the number one thing that comes to their minds is the cheesecake. There are so
many different kinds of cheesecakes and with this amount of varieties to choose from, it definitely is
one of the most significant strengths that the Cheesecake Factory has. I believe that
The Cheesecake Factory should take an advantage of this strength and start selling all the kinds of

The story is a satire, a parody of an ideological society divorced from common sense reality
(Townsend). As Townsend stated Kurt Vonnegut makes a satire about society in his fictional short
story Harrison Bergeron, which in their society there has been attempt of conformity through the
handicaps of the people, the similarity to an authoritarian government, and the technology, whereas
the people will eventually overcome. The Kind if government authority seen both mimics and satirizes

The newspaper industry is undergoing a radical change in three primary areas caused by technology.
First, the underlying two sided business model is changing. With the Advent of internet, news content

Revenues from circulation in 2011 have marginally increased from 2010. The difference in revenues is
$2940M $2323B = $617M and we are only recovering an estimated $118M. There is variable cost
savings associated with the loss of print subscribers but this is probably offset with loss of advertising
revenue and development costs for digital solutions.
Recommendation NYT should continue with its Paywall initiative as upwards of 40% incoming traffic
is from other sites i.e. Google, yahoo etc. Internet delivery on mobile devices is also becoming
popular. Additionally, lots of users are able to access news content via leaky paywall. This reflects
users increasing interest in accessing NYT news content in digital format. Digital edition is in early
stages for adoption by end users. New sources and models for revenue generation or sharing are to be

future. New industry needs to continue exploring methods to present news content to user preferred

(92.8) who participated (Scrimgeour et al., 2015, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Chamberland, Lacharite, Clement, Lessard , 2015, p.1) The requirements for the participants of this
study was that they had to be less than 9 years of age and exposed to multiple risk factors for child
maltreatment, These risk factors included behavior problems, victimisation, and general family
dysfunction. A total of 81 children baseline and 73 children at post test were from child preventive
services. In contrast 88 were from child protective services. (Scrimgeour et al., 2015, p.3) The average
age of the children who participated were 50 months of age. Approximately one half of the families
were single parent families, more than a third of the families had 3 or more children and nearly six out
of ten responded having education less than ninth grade. The data collection for the experiment was
done in two parts, Time one before or during the intervention, and Time two after the intervention.
Two researchers assisted in meeting with each of the families, one met with the parents and made
observations and an interview. While the other used assessment tools with the children. The results
showed a strong correlation in both Time one and two with low parental stress, and low child abuse
potential for socioemotional development. The last variable however good quality of home
environment, only correlated with Time one. Cognitive/language development had a positive
correlation in both Time one and two. (Scrimgeour et al., 2015, p.6) The study did a great job in
showing potential correlations in households where children might be at risk for hindered
development. It is unknown how applicable the results since the ethnic demographic wasn t given and
might influence the results through cultural differences, As a whole though it seems reliable.

LJones Perceptions And Causes Ofpsycho Pathology
Perceptions and Causes of Psycho Pathology Linda Jones Dr. Harold Beaman PSYCH/650
Psychopathology March 2, 2015 Introduction In principle, psychopathology is the scientific study of
mental disorders and their origin; in addition, this field of study examines the causes, development,
and possible treatment for the disorders. Essentially, psychopathology encompasses three aspects that
are considered as directly related to the mental disorders. These facets include the biological
considerations, social issues, and psychological aspects of any mental condition. In fact, the initial
perception of mental illness was associated with religious issues such ... Show more content on

Observably, the disorder mostly treated and cured by the traditional medicine in the culture. Cultural
bound syndromes can either cause somatic complains, or can be simply behavioral with no connection
to any effect on the body parts. On the other hand, researchers may choose to suggest that cultural
based syndromes represent behaviors that may be acceptable in certain regions (Wilkinson 2000).
Conversely, this disorders maybe highly disregarded in other areas. Ataque De Nervios Ataque De
Nervios is an example of cultural bound syndrome among the Hispanics. Illustratively, the disorder is
characterized by crying hysterically, rickety, out of control shouting, physical and verbal violence, and
an extreme high temperature in the chest. Ostensibly, the disorder is said to be as result of attacks by
evil spirits and demonic visitations. In essence, the symptoms are associated with stressful events such
as the death of a loved one, a traumatic experience involving a loved one, divorce, or separation of in
a marriage union. In this regard, this syndrome is only unique among the Hispanics, in other regions it
may be viewed as a normal way of venting out anger. The Diathesis Stress Model In principle, this
theory seeks to explain behavior as a predisposition vulnerability that is coupled up by experiences
that are stresses in life. The model takes consideration of the psychological, biological, and situational
aspects in life that cause inherent

My First Skateboard Research Paper
A time in my life when I attempted to reach a goal was when I got my first skateboard. I had ridden
one before but had never had one of my own. I tried to ride it as much as I could and get better.
It all started on Christmas of 2009, it was snowing, cold and windy I was at my uncles and my mom
came and picked me up to go home. There was a skateboard in the back seat. I was eight years old and
this was my second time even seeing a skateboard. I felt excited, happy, and nervous, nervous because
I hadn t really ridden one. My goal was to learn how to ride, and from there learn tricks. This goal was
significant to me because I wouldn t be where I am in my skating now if I hadn t set it.
Achieving this goal was essential because I wanted to become

November 17, 2003 the Sandiganbayan denied the Consolidated Comment/Opposition motions. After
the People rested in all three cases, the defense moved to be allowed to file a demurrer to evidence in
these cases. On March 10, 2004 in a joint resolution of Sandiganbayan they granted the defense leave
to file demurrers in Crim. Case Nos. 26565 (illegal use of alias) and 26905 (perjury). Demurrers to
Evidence for Crim. Case Nos. 26565 and 26905 was filed separately by Estrada. Estrada s demurrer to
evidence for Crim. Case No. 26565 (illegal use of alias) was anchored on the following grounds: 1. Of
the thirty five (35) witnesses presented by the prosecution, only two (2) witnesses, Ms. Clarissa
Ocampo and Atty. Manuel Curato, testified that on one occasion (4 February 2000), they saw movant

prohibited only in late 2001 as can be gleaned from Bangko Sentral Circular No. 302, series of 2001,

  • 3. The Effects Of Dyslexia On Children With Dyslexia Essay Many learning disabilities world wide are over looked if a child doesn t learn at the rate of the other children, but a teacher might assume that the student is mentally challenged. That might not be the case. Students world wide struggle with the learning disability known as dyslexia. Dyslexia is known for the way it twists words and numbers in ones head. It s almost as if the persons mind is playing a trick on itself. The person might read the text backward or even say his or her thoughts backwards. Just because one has dyslexia does not mean that he or she cannot major in any specific major. Someone with dyslexia may choose which ever major he or she may like, although it will be harder for the person and so they will have to put more time in and work harder than everyone else. This is true in nursing students with dyslexia; they have to put more hard work in than anyone else and yet they still might not be where they want to be. In the article Experience of Nursing Students with Dyslexia on Clinical Placement by Christopher McPheat, the author informs people that students with dyslexia need more help in the clinical setting. He writes with a serious tone to let the audience know that this is not a light situation and to take it very seriously. Although there is no greater risk of harm with nurses in dyslexia, they still need more help. McPheat gives suggestions of how they could get help. The author who is a staff nurse has credibility writing this article because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. A Closer Look At The Period Between 1930 And 1941 By the mid 1930s Reza Shah s dictatorial style of rule caused dissatisfaction in Iran, particularly among religious and intellectual elites. Contradictory to strong will of modernization, Reza shah believed in monophony. A closer look at the period between 1930 and 1941 furthermore reveals a concentration of important changes around the mid 1930s: The political climate became more restrictive, as reflected in the decree against collectivist ideas in 1931 or the Gowhar Shad incident in 1935; the ruling oligarchy was exchanged, exemplified in Teymurtash s dismissal in 1932 and the increasingly important role of the police (shahrbani) in controlling the public sphere; also, the state s general attitude became more and more xenophobic. These trends and events had an equally strong impact on cultural life. Cultural mobility was not wanted in all aspects, he wanted to control it but he did not know that culture flow is not controllable even a dictator can not do that. Therefore:censorship. Due to strict censorship of politically criticism, many plays were prohibited. Satire was not tolerated, unless it was aimed at the backward previous Qajar dynasty, and because each play had to be cleared by censors, drama found an outlet in the writing and performance at patriotic and historical dramas eulogizing the glories of the past. Because of bawdy and often political nature of performances, in 1930 Reza Shah Pahlavi Censorship officers began demanding to see texts of the plays in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Salmonella Lab Report Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium (S. Typhimurium) is a pathogen commonly associated with localized intestinal infection in humans. For its survival and propagation as a facultative intracellular pathogen, this Gram negative bacterium has developed a variety of ways to manipulate host cell processes (Malik Kale et al. 2011). Besides phagocytic internalization (by, e.g., macrophages, neutrophils, or dendritic cells), Salmonella infection is characterized by the bacterial induced uptake of the pathogen into non phagocytic enterocytes of intestinal epithelium (Perrett Zhou 2013). Essential to the pathogenesis and colonization of host tissues by S. typhimurium are virulence factors encoded on different regions of chromosome, known as Salmonella ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This mechanism of defense is called colonization resistance (Sekirov et al. 2010). Resident microbiota and incoming pathogens compete for resources in the intestine. In a healthy intestine, normal microflora establishes mutually beneficial relations with intestinal mucosa and effectively eliminates pathogens. Inflammatory host responses triggered by virulence factors of S. Typhimurium can alter conditions in the intestine and shift the competition between protective microbiota and the incoming pathogen, which is able to survive in and profit from the altered niche (Stecher et al. 2007), whereas to intestinal microbiota host responses are unfavorable (Sekirov et al. ... • 8. Similarities Between Beowulf And Katniss You probably never thought about it, but epic and contemporary heroes can contain similar qualities and characteristics, for example Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Games and Beowulf from Beowulf. Authors may be trying to bring back old tales of heroism into up and coming generations. After carefully contemplating the abundance of courage, bravery, and leadership portrayed by both Katniss Everdeen from the book the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and Carolyn McCormick and Beowulf from the epic poem Beowulf by Unknown. It is shown that both characters identify with the same core values of what it truly means to be a hero. The first characteristic shared by both Beowulf and Katniss show bravery throughout their stories. Beowulf s bravery shines through when he defeats Grendel s mother. Who is said to be even more stronger than Grendel himself. He was also dragged to the bottom of the ocean and instead of giving up, he killed nine monsters. Finally Beowulf meets his big enemy Grendel and even defeats him as well. Being able to defeat something that is obviously bigger than you is a true sign of bravery. Likewise Katniss portrays similar bravery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Beowulf always risks his life for the greater good and is not afraid to fight on his own. His courage comes from his ability to fight on even when he is the only one. • 9. Urinary Bladder Research Paper My organ is the urinary bladder for the organ paper. The function of the urinary bladder is a storage container temporarily for urine, until it is expelled through the urethra. The elasticity of the bladder is unmatched as it has the ability to increase in size to make room for increases in urine volume from 600 to 800 ml at maximum capacity. The reason for this elasticity is due to the visceral muscles and transitional epithelium located in the walls of this hollow organ, that allows this distensibility enabling it to fill and empty multiple times every day. Another function of the bladder is to aid in expelling urine from the body by contracting the detrusor muscle as well as the relaxing of the urethral sphincter; the external urethral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cardiovascular system plays an immensely important role in the urinary system, without proper blood supply to the kidneys there would be no filtration and no urine to pass into the bladder. Proper blood supply is essential and renal failure would be catastrophic to the process of urination. Maintaining healthy renal arteries and veins is very important also to the respiratory system which keeps the tissues oxygenated, without this the tissue could not perform the duties required or even stay alive. The immune system could undesirably affect the kidneys as well, which would impede the flow of urine to the bladder. Acute or systemic inflammation on the urinary system would directly affect the bladder as well, this is why we need the immune system to keep this inflammation at bay. Kidney damage from this would directly affect all the systems mentioned here, so it is very important to keep the immune system healthy not just for the sake of the urinary system but almost every system of the human body. In nineteen century America, the African American voice was missing from literature. Slave narratives were not taken seriously and most slaves were not taught how to read or write. Douglass s was a self taught slave his narrative was a game changer Douglass was considered an intellectual and respected by most as a reputable author. This means, that Douglass s work does not need to have actually happened to be considered a realistic narrative, it just needs to seem like it could have happened and is a normal occurrence for slaves. After considering this, there are reasons that this narrative became so popular. Douglass s narrative does not portray an everyday occurrence of American slavery it is about one man who, with luck on his side, made it to freedom. Every slave did suffer, slaves were beaten, raped, whipped, and worked to death this narrative does catch the sorrow of slave life but it goes out of the ordinary. The famous line You have seen how a man was made a slave; you shall see how a slave was made a man. (Douglass, 73) is a chasm used to exemplify this. Overcoming oppression in the scene where Douglass takes on Mr. Covey the slave breaker (Douglass, 66) would not be a normal occurrence, Douglass triumphs and becomes the embodiment of a romantic hero. To overcome Covey, Douglas creates a need to invent a self outside of the active oppression around him. (Wessel). Instead of being realistic, this narrative is an example of propaganda, Douglass romanticises the fight to get his readers attention, to give slaves hope, and to grasp Northerners following in joining the abolitionists. Substance Abuse And Its Effects SUBSTANCE ABUSE Researchers state that almost half of individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia in the United States also self medicate with alcohol and other drugs (Elements Behavioral Health, 2014). This is suggested due to individuals attempting to lessen the symptoms of their disorder. As discussed previously symptoms can include hearing and seeing things that others don t hear or see, problems falling asleep or staying asleep and problems with concentration and memory. In an effort to lessen these symptoms alcohol and other drugs are used to induce sleep (NIMH, 2014). Research suggests that approximately fifty percent of individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia have a co occurring substance abuse disorder. The most common used are alcohol, marijuana and tobacco (Green, Drake, Brunette Noordsy, 2007) (Dube, 2012). In contrast to what individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia think they may be achieving by using alcohol and other drugs, research states that substance use may actually modify the dysfunction in the brain reward center by increasing the symptoms (Green et.al, 2007). Self medicating with alcohol and other drugs can often lead to disruptions in gaining access to treatment. • 18. How Aminotransferases Are Enzymes Involved On Catalyzing... Introduction: Aminotransferases are enzymes involved in catalyzing reactions between amino acid and α keto acid. Amino acid such as L glutamate contains an amine group whereas α keto acid such as pyruvate contains a keto group. The amine group of L glutamate is exchanged with the keto group of α keto acid resulting in the α keto acid becoming an amino acid and the amino acid becoming a keto acid. Aminotransferase catalyzes the reaction of transferring α amino group of L glutamate to pyruvate in exchange for the α keto group of pyruvate where L alanine and α ketoglutarate are formed. Aminotransferases are specific for the amino acid formed and reactions catalyzed by aminotransferases are reversible. Aminotransferase used in the formation of alanine is called glutamate pyruvate aminotransferase (GPT) where in the formation of aspartate, glutamate oxaloacetate aminotransferase (GOT) is used. (Vroon, D., Israili, Z, 1990) In part 1, the aim is to examine the specificity as well as the catalytic activity of GPT in freshly minced beef heart extract by incubation and chromatographic assays (paper chromatography and thin layer chromatography) respectively. Paper chromatography is used to separate and identify individual amino acid components. Since the theme of this paper is sustainability, the focus is on mortality aspect of health in terms of variable household incomes. This implicates the severe consequences that may emerge as a result from lack of governmental focus on equal distribution of wealth in a society. A number of previous researches were considered in this regard to highlight the most vulnerable segments within the purr segment that reflect low mortality rates. The gist of this aspect lies in the relationship between income and mortality rates that result from inequitable resource allocation and income distribution (Beaglehole and Bonita, 1997). INCOME INEQUALITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION According to Laurent, democracy is aspired and sought by many countries however, environmental equality is not considered as one of the core reasons for it. • 29. Redistricting, The Process Of Adjusting States Redistricting, the process of adjusting states district lines to even the population among said districts, has transformed into a science. Depending on a state s population, a certain amount of agents represent that state in the House of Representatives. Well each representative has his or her own district in their home state. These districts then play a role in electing that specific representative to the House. This seems like a standard government function, but the Constitution does not specify any limits on how or by who the districts should be drawn. This process has been left to the state legislatures. The issue that we run into is that once placed in legislature hands, those in power have the ability to draw the congressional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, let s say we have two districts in the same state. District A contains 900,000 people compared to district B with 100,000. This means that the people in district A have about one eighth of the vote that the people in district B have. The supreme court ruled that this was unconstitutional, and now redistricting requires districts to be equivalent based on population. This was one of some court cases that has constricted states when dealing with redistricting, but states still have a lot of wiggle room. As long as they follow strict population equality and do not dilute the votes of ethnic minorities, the states are in the clear. The subject at hand here is not about the legality of gerrymandering, but whether or not the redistricting process should be nonpartisan. I believe that the current redistricting process is unfair and illogical, and that the process should be nonpartisan to take the partisan politics out of the process, create more competitive elections, correct this flaw in the democratic process, and relieve some gridlock that redistricting produces. The United States of America has been built on a democratic foundation to protect and serve we the people. The current government has two main parties, the Republicans and the Democrats, and they will stop at nothing to maintain their positions within the government. • 30. Zoos And The Conservation Of Animals A family is enjoying a trip to their local zoo when they stop to look at the tigers. The child sprints over to exhibit with excitement; he notices a red sign stuck the glass of the enclosure which reads, Endangered. Daddy, if the zoo is keeping the tigers in a cage in order to save them, when will they let them back into the wild to live free? Based on statistics from public zoos across America, the unfortunate answer to this question is a resounding Never. It has become noticeably evident that zoos are not a current resource for the protection of rare and endangered species. Animals should not be kept in zoos, because they fail at the conservation of animal species, provide little or no education about habitat and the behavior of animals, and harm the animals physically and mentally. Primarily, zoos fail at the conservation of animal species. Zoos claim that certain species would become extinct if places like zoos did not exist, but they ultimately fail at the conservation of animal species. Animals who are endangered will likely never be released back into natural habitats ( Zoos: Pitiful Prisons par. 9). The Author of Captive Animal Protection Society states, Many zoos have no contact of any kind with any reintroduction program, meaning that once the animals are introduced to zoos, they are likely to remain there. One U.S. study found no compelling evidence for zoos and aquariums to make the claim that they promote interest of conservation upon conversing with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. High Cost Of Entry And Market Domination Limits Entrants... Barriers to Entry High cost of entry and market domination limits entrants into the industry. The upfront cost for new airlines is capital intensive. In addition, it s difficult for new airlines to obtain airport slots for takeoff and landing which are determined by the airports. Established airlines already hold the monopoly over slots at certain airports, making it harder for new airlines to infiltrate (Airlines Industry Profile, 2014). The industry is also dominated by five key airlines; American, United, Delta, Southwest and JetBlue which make it difficult for new airlines to gain market share. At 40 of the 100 largest U.S. airports, a single airline controls a majority of the market. At 93 of the top 100, one or two airlines control a majority of the seats (Koenig Mayerowitz, 2015). In addition, with fuel being the number one cost for airlines, the volatile fuel prices make it hard for new airlines to make a profit. Domestic airlines in the U.S. spend a combined $2 to $5 billion on jet fuel every month. As a stat up airlines, the price paid for fuel is the same weather planes are full or empty which could stop new airlines from entering the industry. Lastly, the FAA has strict regulations which discourage new airlines from entering the industry. All new entrants must abide by Federal Aviation Authority regulations on airworthiness, pilot competence, and related issues (Airline Industry Profile, 2014). Although Aphra Behn s descriptions of the main characters and the setting seem racist in our times, if we can understand Behn s point of view, we can appreciate how innovative this piece was. The fact that the main character was African was a big step. The book was very clever in the word choice it used and style but sometimes it was challenging to read. People often come back for more because, even though they know the prices are slightly higher than at other restaurants, the meal sizes are bigger and of a better quality. The Cheesecake Factory takes pride in being known for giving their customers large portions of food which is why many of them take the leftovers back home with them all the time. One of the strength is the common knowledge of cheesecakes. When people think of Cheesecake Factory the number one thing that comes to their minds is the cheesecake. There are so many different kinds of cheesecakes and with this amount of varieties to choose from, it definitely is one of the most significant strengths that the Cheesecake Factory has. I believe that The Cheesecake Factory should take an advantage of this strength and start selling all the kinds of cheesecake they make to stores around the country. • 36. John Updike s A P Essay John Updike s A P At first read, John Updike s A P contrasts old and new; the old manager in his settled life conflicting with the new age of girls wearing bathing suits in buildings. All the while, the narrator stuck in the middle, finally deciding to join the side of new, or youth. Instead of old vs. new, an observation closer to the heart of the story is conflict between the worlds of the rich and the middle class. ?A P? is the setting for one man to decide in which way he will seek to follow his life, standing on his own two feet and treating everyone as equals, or bowing before the wealthy, and searching for his own riches above all else. There are probably beautiful girls who live in the town who Sam would find very attractive in a bathing suit, but they would never walk into their local A P dressed that way, so it was these girls? audacity in walking like this that gave them his attention. Also, it was the girls? wealth that gave them the courage to be so bold. Not everyone is impressed with the girls however. The manager, Lengel, comes over to the cash register and immediately begins to tell the girls off for coming into the store dressed as such. When Lengel says that he wants the girls decently dressed when they come into the store, the head of the group of girls, Queenie, realizes that Lengel knows why the girls came in. The data collection for the experiment was done in two parts, Time one before or during the intervention, and Time two after the intervention. Two researchers assisted in meeting with each of the families, one met with the parents and made observations and an interview. While the other used assessment tools with the children. The results showed a strong correlation in both Time one and two with low parental stress, and low child abuse potential for socioemotional development. The last variable however good quality of home environment, only correlated with Time one. Cognitive/language development had a positive correlation in both Time one and two.
