Narrative Essay On Dementia
Who are you? This is a question I have heard ever since I was sixteen years old, and not from
strangers on the streets, from my very own mother. I was a teenager when my mother originally
developed Alzheimer s and then later, dementia. I can still recall the first time she ever asked me that
question. It was springtime, I know that because I had just come home from softball practice. I had yet
to take even five steps into the house when a shriek rang out. Who are you? My mother, Elizabeth,
yelled so loudly it attracted the attention of my father. I could do nothing else but stand and stare at
her. How was it possible that my own mother had forgotten not only my name, but also my face? I did
not know how to respond to her. Was this just some joke she was playing with me? ... Show more

Julia? What s wrong? My father Thomas asked after entering the room. I think I just forgot my own
daughter, my mom answered for me. I am extremely sorry Julia. I don t know what happened.
Of course, no one in our family knew what was going on. We were all just bewildered as to why she
could not remember who anybody was. Although, it was not like it just happened out of the blue; the
doctors informed us mother s memory had been deteriorating for a long time before the name incident
ever took place. No one thought anything of it when she just forgot her keys or a bag of groceries out
in the car. But of course we observed when she started forgetting who everyone was. There was even a
circumstance of my mother forgetting my younger brother, Timothy, at the supermarket.
Mother and Timothy had gone to the supermarket for groceries, but when mother returned home
Timothy was not with her. Of course I noticed, but when I asked her where he was she could not
recollect that he had even left with her.
Timothy went with you to the store, I delicately informed her. She claimed she knew no one named
Timothy and so I drove to the store to get him

Drones Persuasive Speech
The FAA said it receives on average 25 reports a month of drones flying too close to manned aircraft.
Even though recreational drone flights are supposed to be kept under 400 feet. In July 2014, a drone
narrowly missed colliding with an Airbus A320 as it was taking off from London s Heathrow airport.
The plane was at about 700 feet when the incident occurred and BBC reported that the Civil Aviation
Authority (CAA) rated the incident as a serious risk of collision. Although the military uses drones a
lot on the daily basis for good things to keep them safe, drones should be banned from the public as
they are not safe for the public to have a handle on, people use them for the wrong things, and this is
similar to the issue of guns and semi automatic weapons, they just don t belong in the hands of private
citizens. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Drones are a government device and should not be in the use of civilian and private hands. Authorities
in Paris spotted unmanned drones buzzing the Eiffel Tower, the Bastille, the Place de la Concorde the
U.S. Embassy and other high profile landmarks. That is the first reason why drones should be banned
from the public. There is multiple reasons why they are not safe. An 18 month old boy has lost an eye
after being hit by a drone flown by a family friend. Oscar Webb s eye was sliced in half by a propeller
after the operator, Simon Evans, lost control of the drone. The toddler, from Stourport on Severn,
Worcestershire, will need several operations before he can have a prosthetic eye fitted. It was the first
drone injury Oscar s surgeon had seen, but she said it was inevitable there would be many more.
Those are just a couple of reasons and instandents why drones should be banned from the

Essay on The Return of Martin Guerre
The Return of Martin Guerre
The purpose of this paper is to introduce, discuss, and analyze the book The Return of Martin Guerre
by Natalie Zamon Davis. Specifically, it will discuss the life of the peasant during the Middle Ages.
This book is a fascinating account of a true case that happened during the 16th century in France. The
book is also an excellent example of how the peasants lived in the Middle Ages, from what they ate, to
how they traveled and what their family lives were like.
This book shows that life in the Middle Ages was difficult and demanding, but it seems a little bit
peaceful and serene, too. The main occupations were farming and raising sheep or goats, and there
were tradesman in the villages who worked for a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Basque country, families often lived together, as the author notes, When a household is set up
with two generations of married folk, it is not the Basque combination of the old heir and the young
heir, but a widowed parent, usually the mother, with one of her married children (Davis 11). Even
when Martin s uncle married, he moved nearby to another house, and lived close to his relatives.
Martin returned with his bride to his father s house after they married, and lived with his family under
one roof (Davis 18). Since their main concern was survival and perpetuation of the family, this
indicates how important family life was to the peasants.
Women had a lesser position than men did in the society. Davis writes, At the parish mass, she would
have to get used to the fact that her women did not push ahead of the men to make their offerings, did
not go about the church to collect for the vestry, and din not serve as sacristans (Davis 15). Women
were also blamed for a man s impotence, as Davis notes. She writes, In the sixteenth century, it was
usually blamed on the power of a woman outside the marriage (Davis 21). The fact that Martin
abandoned his wife and newborn son after eight years of marriage shows what low status women had
in society. She had no recourse, she lived in a foreign household, and she could not even remarry.

Freedom Of Religious Freedom
Freedom of religion When we say freedom of religion what is that exactly means? The First
Amendment describe the right of religion like this, everyone in the United States can practice to any
religion or not practice a religion. (Your Right to Religious Freedom) In the united states, there is no
an official religion and the government do not give any support for any religion institution because of
the government want to encourage and promoting religion in any ways. In addition to that, nobody can
penalize any citizen because of their religious beliefs. It s always best to keep the government out of
religion to protect religion liberty. The three United States founders were different religious
backgrounds. As most of us know the public schools are run by the government and they obey the
First Amendment. When any public education institution teach about the impacts of religion in
literature, history and philosophy they can t indorse religious beliefs or practices as part of the
catalogue. In the United States no one can prayer, theological reading and loudspeaker spiritual breach
in any public area that runs by government because they promote religion and this is protected by the
First Amendment, but when we say this we it s not including individuals. Individual have the right to
practice their religion, pray when and where ever they want to, as long as they don t interrupt other
people or activities for example, by forcing others to pray with them or practice their religion.

Why I Am An Effective Teacher Essay
Great teachers are rare, are you an Effective Teacher
It has been stated that teaching is a craft and a highly skilled craft that can be learned. What is
consider to be an effective teacher? To keep this as simple as possible I could name a ton of attributes,
but to name just a few I would say an educator that knows how to dress for success or maybe someone
that has their classroom ready for learning, or even someone that knows how to create effective
assignments for their students. Also a great teacher has a love for learning, has high expectations for
each and every one of their students and even collaborates with colleagues on an ongoing basis.
Chelonnda Seroyer spent two months poring through The First Day of School and using it as a guide
for organizing for her first day of school. When the first day of school came, she had a script. She had
a classroom management plan.(iii) Effective teachers are supportive and understand the importance of
why students need good teachers to have personality, knowledge and compassion.
Teachers have a significant role in influencing the lives of young children. With this duty comes great
pride and pleasure. Therefore, all educators should strive to be good and effective teachers. Teachers
are people that can change the lives of many. Just by being allowed to sit in a classroom that has been
created to enhance the knowledge and intelligence of people can be life changing. Effective teachers
have positive expectations for their students

Public School Choice Essay
Public School Choice
Public School Choice is an easy program to understand and it contains many advantages but also
many disadvantages. Public School Choice is when parents can elect to send their children out of a
school that has not made adequate yearly progress for two consecutive years into a school that has
made progress. (McClure, 2002) If there are no available schools within the original school district,
then a family can choose to send their children to another district. This only happens when the other
schools in the original district are all labeled as underachieving schools and have not made the
adequate yearly progress. (McClure, 2002)

Official from Milwaukee school and local policy groups, where public school choice has been an
option, confirmed what most observers have assumed: that having options with in the public school
system is intensely popular with parents (Van Dunk, 2003) Some people do not believe there can be
such a thing as public school choice. For it to be actual school choice and in order for it to succeed it
has to include private schools. (Jeynes, 2000) These are just a few facts and some issues that are
controversial around the Public School Choice option.
School Vouchers
School Vouchers are another popular form of school choice. Vouchers are scholarships that let students
attend a school of their parent s choice. The vouchers are given out to low income parents who are
below the 175% poverty line. A voucher can be used a private school. Schools redeem the vouchers
given to them by students, and in return receive government funding. Publicly funded vouchers have
been used for decades in New Hampshire, and Maine, also in the two cities: Cleveland, Ohio and
Milwaukee, Wisconsin. (Ellig, 1999) Harvard economist Caroline M. Hoxby investigated the impact
of vouchers on public schools in Milwaukee. Her peer reviewed conclusion: Overall, an evaluation of
Milwaukee suggests that public schools have a strong, positive response to competition

Nitrogen, Carbon and Phosphorus Cycles Essay
Nitrogen, Carbon and Phosphorus Cycles
The carbon cycle deals with the interaction of carbon between living organisms and the nonliving
environment. This cycle is a process through which all carbon rotates. The main result of the carbon
cycle is to serve as a great natural recycler of carbon atoms.
The cycle works in a very basic way. First, carbon is taken from carbon dioxide found in the air. Plants
take in carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Plants absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and
use it, combined with water they get from the soil, to make substances they need for growth. The
carbon is then mixed with water. Carbon dioxide is then formed into sugar (glucose). The process of
photosynthesis incorporates the carbon atoms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Carbon dioxide is very important in the atmosphere, however only in moderation. For centuries
humans have been burning coal, oil, and fossil fuels therefore releasing tons of carbon into the air. The
problem with this is that this can cause a problem known as global warming. This is a major climate
problem, which has series results on people and the environment. The result on people can be very
deadly. Too much carbon in the air can cause cancer.
The nitrogen cycle is extremely important. This is because of the importance of nitrogen itself.
Nitrogen is a basic element of life. It also makes up 78 percent of the Earth s atmosphere. It forms an
essential part of amino acids (which make up proteins) and DNA. Nitrogen is essential for all living
cells. The nitrogen cycle consists of 5 steps. First the basic element nitrogen in converted to ammonia.
This process is called nitrogen fixation. This process is done by nitrogen fixing bacteria. Then the
ammonia gets converted to nitrate. This process, called nitrification, is done by soil bacteria.
Assimilation is the third step. Here the ammonia and the nitrate are absorbed by plants.
Ammonification converts the nitrogen into ammonia. This process is done by ammonifying bacteria.
The final step is denitrification. Here the nitrate is converted back to nitrogen. Denitrifying bacteria
aid in this process.
Like all other elements, nitrogen is very important in life but in moderation. We sometimes cause an
overload

Analyzing Herman Melville s Writing Style
Every writer has their own writing style; for example, Herman Melville s style can be explained using
complex diction, lengthy syntax, repeated ideas, description and characterization. First off, Melville
can use simple words like, cautiously, animation, and excited, (Melville 3 4) but he mainly uses
complex words such as, countenance, inarticulate, and convulsively (3 4). Furthermore, Melville
seems to be very fond of using long sentences such as,
Receiving the topmaul from Starbuck, he advanced towards the mainmast with the hammer uplifted in
one hand, exhibiting the gold with the other, and with a high raised voice exclaiming: Whosoever of
ye raises me a white headed whale with a wrinkled brow and a crooked jaw; whosoever ... Show more

Do ye know the white whale then, Tash? (5). He most likely including shorter sentences because
usually when people are talking to one another, they aren t yelling full paragraphs for every thought.
To further evaluate Melville s writing, he also uses a lot of repeated words in order to get his point
across. For example, on page one he uses pacing, tread, stride, and rounds to describe the frantic
movements of Ahab, however it could also be taken as Ahab s thoughts running chaotically through
his mind. Later on, it goes to say that Ahab feels, feels, feels, as proof that Ahab thinks with his heart
and not his head. In addition, he also uses parallel structure to strengthen his writing style. For
example, he says Cut your seizings and draw the poles, ye harpooneers! (11). Another example of
parallel structure was, There s a most special, a most cunning, oh, a most malicious difference! (13),
he used parallel structure to create a more uniformed and strong writing style. Lastly, Melville uses
literary devices to make his writing style more interesting. One example of the literary devices he uses
is description. A descriptive sentence would

Racism In Freedom Writers
Racism is as relevant an issue today as it ever was. Old wounds have opened, and the dark side of
America is being brought to light. Freedom Writers, a 2007 movie adaptation of the 1999 book The
Freedom Writers Diary (Freedom Writers), illustrates just how large an issue racism is in society.
Freedom Writers was directed by Richard LaGravenese and stars Hilary Swank, Scott Glenn, Patrick
Dempsey, and Imelda Staunton (Freedom Writers). Set in Long Beach, California, a first time teacher
educates her at first unmotivated students in English while giving them life lessons and showing them
the larger world around them. Those students live in an area that is a battlefield, many of them
embroiled in the ongoing gang wars. Freedom Writers deals with racism by showing the students that
they are all very similar and deal with the same problems, regardless of their race. The movie opens
with footage of the 1994 Los Angeles riots, then transitions to the childhood of the narrator of the
film, a Mexican American girl named Eva. It shows how racism and gang violence has shaped her life,
with her father being arrested for a crime he didn t commit and being shot at and beat up among the
various examples. We then meet Erin Gruwell, an enthusiastic young teacher, whose class is
comprised of Eva and other at risk teens. Gruwell has difficulty getting through to her students, who
self segregate into racial groups within the classroom. Many students stop attending class when she

Countless times Robert follows what he thinks is morally right, disregarding the consequences of his
actions.
Throughout the book, Robert Ross was dependent on his sister, Rowena, and the animals he felt so
connected to. Robert more than anything becomes a person who relies more on animals, than he does
people. Robert s reliance on animals starts because of his sister s love for her rabbits: Can the rabbits
stay forever, too? Yes, Rowena. (18) His dependence on animals only strengthens as the book goes on,
and when Rowena dies, he turns to the animals for guidance and as a replacement for Rowena. On
many different occasions, Robert displays his love for animals and disconnection from the real world:
Robert soon became completely disengaged from the other life on the upper decks. He even went
below off duty. (56) Robert shows his lack of connection with the other soldiers on board, and
demonstrates his relationship he developed with the animals in the army. Robert s connection
strengthens with animals so much, that towards the end of the book he is willing to break military
rules and attempt to save them: I m going to break ranks and save these animals. (183) The heroes, we
are custom to today, would not go against the rules to save a bunch of horses. Even though, most
would not see Robert as being heroic, because he broke the rules, it was his intentions behind his
actions. As

Abstract
As a young girl in her adolescent, Horney Karen was raised under harsh conditions as written in her

Horney Karen (1942) said the take of men on women being pregnant, motherhood, breastfeeding, and
breasts lead to men devaluing women. She stated that the self is what determined one s being. That is,
if a person had an accurate revelation of themselves, they had a chance to realize and live to their
potential.
As a psychiatrist, Horney Karen developed a pattern of needs that were derived from neurosis. The
needs were based on the things Karen thought people required to be what they required in life.
According to Karen, people should have to have two views of themselves, one the real self and the
ideal self, whereby the real self is who one is and what they are. Whereby the real self has one s
potential for growth, the potential for happiness and power. The ideal self is, on the other hand, is used
to help the real self to develop one s potential and achievement of self. Horney came up with an
illustration explaining between the real self, despised and the ideal selves,

Fascism is a type of extremist, right wing, totalitarian and nationalist ideology which first emerged
during the beginning of the 20th century in Europe. The growth of fascism in Europe after the end of
the First World War was caused by a combination of the socio economic and political conditions
which enabled Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler to come to power over the period prior to the
Second World War. Indeed, Blinkhorn comments that European fascism is, and always will be,
inextricably associated with the years between the end of the First World War and the end of the
Second (Blinkhorn 7). These conditions saw the development of nationalist ideologies and the
emergence of the fascist party in Italy and the National Socialist Party in Germany.
The main features of fascism as implemented by Mussolini and Hitler were based on nationalist,
expansionist foreign policies in combination with domestic policies which boosted the economy and
raised living standards. Indeed, Gentile comments that fascism in both Italy and Germany wanted to
conquer new countries and spread the empire of the totalitarian new civilization all over the New

at their own leisure and help give students a better understanding without disrupting the class. With
the information in class readily available at home, the students can look over and analyze the lesson
and get their own interpretation of the information. If they have any questions, they can simply ask
their teacher when they are given the assignment in class. Since the teacher will not be giving a lecture
in the actual classroom, he or she will be available to answer questions students may have about the
information they received at home (Schmidt). The students have more time to analyze that data and
get their own interpretation of the information thus giving a better understanding of the information as
a whole. Another reason why the flipped classroom can help is the improved interaction between
student and teacher. In the typical classroom, students

The Development Of Human Development Essay
Human Development in Children aged 11years
Human development refers to the biological and psychological development in the human being
throughout the lifespan. It consists of the development from infancy, childhood and adolescence to
adulthood.
In this essay I will analyse two practiced based experiences to demonstrate my understanding of
human development. For my first practiced based experience, I will be drawing on Lev Vygotsky s
Sociocultural Development Theory. His key concepts of The Zone of Proximal Development, More
Knowledgeable Others, and Internalisation.
For my second practiced based experience I will draw on Erik Erikson s Theory of Identity
Development. His key concept of psychosocial development stages.
My first experience concerns an 11year old girl named Ella.
I was sitting in the library with Ella after she had completed her E asTTle testing. While we were
waiting to head back to the classroom Ella was completing a math s project. She explained to me that
she was in a higher learning level math s group and was completing a math s badge. Mrs. Jones head
of math s for year 7/8 is assisting Ella with her math s badge and told me that Ella is doing extremely
well.
My second experience was observing a group of 5 girls that had gone outside to practice their
presentation of an Anzac day story to be delivered before their peers. When one of the girls proceeded
to deliver her part of the presentation, Katy another of the girls in the group sidled up to her,

Examples Of Benjamin Franklin s Response To The American...
Benjamin Franklin is considered, by many, to be the Father of the United States , however the struggle
to gain that title came with great persistence. Therefore, Benjamin Franklin was the original product
that originated from the American Dream . The American Dream can be simplified to the point, that a
young boy with nothing in his pockets can build himself up to man where the sky is the limit.
Throughout the response, I will address why and how Benjamin Franklin is perfect candidate to
validate the movement to the American Dream. In addition, I will recap the impressive journey and
accomplishments that Benjamin Franklin went through and what our society can still gain from
experiences from a man s autobiography wrote over a century ago. I will, then, conclude the response
by relating Benjamin Franklin s experience to the people in today s society. By the end of the
response, I hope to relay the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

people of the New World due to the circumstances of his upbringing and the persistence that followed

thirteen brothers and sisters to support. This perfect rags to riches story expresses the American dream

Benjamin Franklin that translate to the American Dream is his persistence. Throughout his

Shakespeare Is Shakespeare
To be or not to be Why is Shakespeare still relevant? Shakespeare is still relevant because his poems
and plays continue to live on even though he is dead. His plays and poems are all so well executed and
they all have a theme . For example in the play Antony and Cleopatra there are a number of themes
such as loyalty, honour, romance and betrayal. Also the play contains many poetic narrations such as
my desolation begins to make a better life
One of the many themes of the play Antony and Cleopatra is loyalty Antony loved Cleopatra so much
and was so loyal to her that he gave up being part of the triumvirate to stay with her. He even betrayed
Caesar by abandoning his sister and his wife. He even went to war with Caesar because of Cleopatra
while she on the other hand was never loyal to Antony even though she claims to kill herself over him.
Her constant willingness throughout the play to manipulate him is an indication of the fact that she d
betray him as soon as it was convenient for her, either politically or emotionally she wasn t as loyal to
him as much as he was loyal to her. Also another example of loyalty from the play is Enobarbus after
Enobarbus deserts Antony he then ultimately regrets the decision so much that he dies of his sorrow he
was very loyal to Antony but something went wrong that made him betray Antony but because of how
loyal he was before to Antony he then died of his sorrow regretting not being loyal to Antony till the

Open Door Policy Essay
In addition to the failure of the first aspect of the US open door policy, the second principle that the
Chinese government should be able to tax trade also failed due to internal conflict. Before the US
Open door policy in 1899 1900, the Sino Japanese war had caused chaos and fear in China. The fear
of foreign powers and another invasion was one of the main reasons for the Revolution of 1911. Led
by Sun Yat sen the revolution was a response partially to the Boxer Rebellion of 1905 and the Sino
Japanese War. The reason for the rebellion was the violation of what Sun called the 3 Principles . The
first of these three principles was called nationalism and it advocated Chinese independence from

In addition to internal conflict, the second proposition of the Open Door Policy failed due to responses
to anti chinese policies in the US. Similar to the Boxer Rebellion, the Boycott of 1905 represented the
anti colonial and anti foreign sentiment the Chinese had developed through years of built up anger.
The implementation of the Open Door Policy was at just the wrong time. It was released during the
height of the Boxer Rebellion when xenophobic sentiments were at their peak (insert evidence). The
timing of the US Open Door policy in addition to the internal conflict in China lead to the Open Door
Policy becoming somewhat useless. However, the Boycott of 1905 was not a response to internal
problems, but a response to American policy that discriminated against Chinese people. Additionally,
it was not a single policy that caused this conflict, but a string a policies starting in 1882 with the

How Does Jane Austen Use Anne Elliot Respond To Peer...
In the excerpt from Jane Austen s novel Persuasion, Anne Elliot is faced with a decision normally seen
as a dream come true by nineteenth century women of marrying her knighted cousin. However, in true
Brothers Grimm fashion, Anne was reluctant to enter into the incestious relationship of her dreams
even at the wishes of close family friend, Lady Russell. Through her narrative techniques of selection
of time frame, character selection, and an omniscient point of view, Austen illustrated the nature of the
proposed relationship and the desires of both Lady Russell and Anne. The time frame Austen selected
for her story emphasized the weight of the proposed union set in a time where titles were worth more
than life, the scenario of marrying a knighted man and being able to keep it within the family
bloodline was a win in all aspects. The knowledge of how great an impact the marriage would have on
Anne s family name brought a greater gravity to her doubts on the marriage and put her in a position
where, upon declining the proposal, could lead to her social ostracization. ... Show more content on

Origins of the Cold War Essay
Origins of the Cold War
Revisionist historians tend to regard the outbreak of the Cold War as a result of American hostility or,
at least , diplomatic incompetence, while the more traditional view lays the responsibility squarely at
the feet of the Soviet Union. Assess the validity of each view.
The Cold War,said to have lasted from the end of World War II to the dismantling of the Soviet Union
in 1991, was one of the most significant political events of the 20th century. For nearly 40 years the
world was under the constant threat of total devastation, caught between the nuclear arsenals of the
United States, Great Britain, and France on one side and the Soviet Union and the People s Republic
of China on the other. Any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One such act of aggression came when the Soviets attempted to gain complete control of Berlin by
forming a blockade against all of the other Allied forces. Despite the barrier, the United States airlifted
tons of supplies to those who were in need of them in Berlin. This was the very beginning of
antagonistic relations. Another form of aggression that angered the Americans was Stalin s refusal to
hold free elections in Eastern Europe, while he covertly set up their governments to act as puppet
satellites, forming a protective barrier around the U.S.S.R. The Soviets reluctance to reunify Korea
and the strong Communist atmosphere in North Korea also disgruntled Americans and hurt diplomatic
relations. Overall, each step that the Soviet Union took to strengthen its power and the power of the
Communist party was viewed as an act of aggression, and there are many historians who strongly
believe that the Soviets were at fault in the instigation of the Cold War due to these immense acts of
aggression. The period in the United States following World War II could more aptly be named
American Hysteria rather than history according to the more revisionist historians. As the Soviet
Union grew more and more powerful, every American grew more frightened of the Communist
movement. No event greater exemplified this than McCarthy s Communist witch hunt of the 1950 s.
The Cold War tensions stemmed from the fear and paranoia that

Gender Inequality
Society today often only addresses one side of the gender inequality issue: the grievances of women.
Feminists have fought against the ingrained tradition of women as housewives with no rights and
being looked down upon as the lesser sex. The women s rights movement in the United States has
worked tirelessly since 1848 to fight for rights and break down gender barriers. Misogyny and gender
constructs, such as the ideal of beauty, hold women back in various aspects of their lives as discussed
in the articles Marked Women by Deborah Tannen and A Woman s Beauty: Put Down or Power

Not wearing makeup is an unmarked decision for men while for women, it will mark them differently
in the eyes of others. Today, if a girl decides not to wear makeup to school, she is bombarded with
questions like Are you sick? or Are you tired? Girls are then judged if they wear too much makeup, if
they do not wear it correctly, if they do not wear enough, or if they choose to not wear it at all.
Wearing makeup is used to determine whether a woman looks professional, put together, or attractive,
and if it is not worn women are marked to be without any of these characteristics. Women cannot stay
unmarked since every action will define her character, even if it is negative or false definition.
Not only is a woman s appearance judged to reveal her character, but there is also an expected
standard of beauty for women to maintain. In the essay A Woman s Beauty: Put Down or Power

are judged into parts, and one part of a woman s body can determine their beauty in the eyes of others.
In the 21st century, girls are taught that beauty is to have plump lips, big breasts, hairless legs, a flat

Analysis Of Lincoln Electric Company Of Cleveland Ohio Usa...
Lincoln Electric Company of Cleveland Ohio USA`s organizational Culture is exceptional and has
earned it the acolade of being the best managed manufacturing company in the whole world. I will
explore and attempt to identify culture aspects of Lincoln Electric from several issues such as; the
continuing influence of founders of the company, the golden rule, the incentive management plan, the
performance appraisal system, how people communicate in the organization, the merit pay plan, the
bonus plan, and the management style.
Normally Founders instill the culture they want right from the beginning of their organizations. That is
exactly what John C Lincoln did when he established his company Lincoln Electric in 1895. He
stablished a culture of innovation and even left administrative burdens of the company to a brother,
James Lincoln, so he could focus on innovation. This streak has continued to date where Lincoln is
not afraid to experiment with new ideas .e.g. the cost saving feature of welding electrodes for
construction and equipment manufacturing. The electrode process at Lincoln remains a secretive affair
which won`t be divulged to outsiders.
According to the OCP framework on organizational culture innovative cultures are not fussy about
titles and flat in their structure that is they are less bureaucratic. This is the outlook at Lincoln where
even the President `s office in the plant is not even carpeted and the company has not had an
organizational chart for quite a

The Pros And Cons Of Soda Ban
1Why has there been so much fuss about New York City s attempt to impose a soda ban,1 or more

1 soda ban
In 2013, New York City passed a law prohibiting soda containers larger than 16 ounces in volume.
The New York State Court of Appeals later overturned the law.
2 Obviously, it s not about soda. It s because such a ban suggests that sometimes we need to be

controversial, no matter how trivial the particular issue. (Large cups of soda as symbols of human

Bokononism In Cat s Cradle
Over the summer, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to read the novel Cat s Cradle by Kurt
Vonnegut. It was an amazing novel. I enjoyed the story from beginning to end and felt like I was part
of the plot. Cat s Cradle starts out as a man s journey to write a story over the atomic bomb, but a
thing called ice nine quickly changes the scenario. Throughout most of the story, the reader is getting
introduced more and more to the religion known as Bokononism, which is the religion most people on
the island of San Lorenzo believe in. The religion was founded by a man named Bokonon. He helped
make San Lorenzo the way it is now. Bokonon is a mysterious man and is rarely seen by the people.

One major example of this is related to the religion Bokononism. As I stated earlier, most of the
people on the island of San Lorenzo follow Bokononism. Even the President of the country believes in
the religion. Bokonon is a household name on the island. Ironically, it is illegal to be a Bokononist. If
you are caught practicing the religion, you will be put to death. Also, Bokonon is a fugitive and
authorities are searching for him constantly. Isn t that ironic? Another ironic thing is when the
President was about to die. He was in failing health and only had a few hours left. He told the narrator,
who was going to be the next President of San Lorenzo, to catch and kill Bokonon. Then, the doctor
called in a Christian to say his last rites. As soon as the Christian walked into the room, Papa (the
President) said I am a member of the Bokononist faith. Get out you stinking Christian. Even though
Papa has made Bokonon a fugitive and Bokononism illegal, he still follows the religion that a fugitive
created. I think the irony in the story is an example of how the human race can do very stupid things.
Why is Bokonon a fugitive if many of the people praise him for the religion he founded? The reason is
because an illegal religion sounded more interesting than a legal one, and that is why many people are
Bokononists and why the religion is

With uncertainty of trusting the ghost, while pretending to be crazy, he organizes a play, wherein I ll

aspects, it is the fear that is holding him back. He procrastinates the murder of the king, as he
apprehends facing death. This theme is further repeated when he says, Now might I do it pat. Now he
is a praying. / And now I ll do t. And so he goes to heaven. / And so am I revenged. That would be

/ Oh, this is hire and salary, not revenge (III.iii.77 84). Hamlet begins to overthink his objective by
postponing the murder. This waiting represents the fear Hamlet contains. His conscience does not
allow him to follow through with the murder. These characters resemble correlative traits when
Claudius ordered Hamlet to be sent to England with fear and trepidation, To bear all smooth and even,

When I landed, I met up with my parents at the baggage claim. From there, we drove home. As we got
home, I prepared to ask my dad to go on the trip, because I knew my mom would say ask your father.
Five minutes after my dad got changed into a lungee,(loon gee), aka a Bengali man skirt, I asked him
the question. Dad, there s a big Europe trip coming up, and you had to take a test to go, and I passed,
so can I go on the trip? Please! I said. And as expected, he replied with What was your test score? I
shyly answered A 95%. Out of nowhere, he pulled out a wooden spoon, and said You got an A. You
didn t get an A+. Come, Come. Let me beat you with a stick. I wasn t shocked, but I replied with Dad,
no! Where did you get that stick?! Then my dad yelled I had it in my back pocket in case you turned
out STUPID! Thankfully, my mom stopped my dad, as always. Honey, you can go. I m sure your dad
will be okay with it. she said while elbowing my dad in the stomach.

I Am A Mystery Enthusiast
Since I am a mystery enthusiast as well as a major Brennan Elliott fanatic, when the first Flower Shop
Mystery film premiered, I quickly became acquainted with as many of the cast as possible. And that
meant connecting with the handsome guy who played Dave King, the other lawyer who had an
unrequited interest in Abby. Regardless, Christian Lloyd portrayed him flawlessly, and he was very
kind to comment on my review of this film. Upon further investigation, I discovered that Christian
was more than merely an actor, and recently, I had the opportunity to chat with him about his amazing
acting career, his views on the industry itself, and his current projects.

So I found myself applying to pre med programs. My final year there, I was doing The Crucible, and I
was playing John Proctor, which turned out to be a phenomenal experience. But at age eighteen, I had
this breakdown. I thought that I would never perform again because I didn t think I could lead that sort
of life. So I went off to the university and enrolled in a very intense science program. When I was
about halfway through that science program, someone said I really should audition for the play that
was being put on by the theater department. And when I did, this guy came up to me and said, Damn
you for auditioning for this. He got really mad at me. And he said, You re in the science program.
Leave these parts for people who are enrolled in the arts. And he continued to say, The reason I m so
mad at you is because you were so good, and you ve no reason to be in science.
So then I finished my degree, and when everyone else was applying to med school, that s when I
started applying to theater school. I realized that that was the way I was going to go which is pretty
crazy. And the funny thing is that I didn t get into any of the theater schools I applied to! (laughs) And
I thought, Oh no! Here I am putting everything on the line, and maybe I ve made the wrong decision?
But I was put on the wait list for one of the programs

Anesthesia, Anesthetic Drugs And Anesthesiologist
Anesthesia, Anesthetic Drugs Anesthesiologist Anesthesia is a practice in the medical field that
specializes in the control and monitoring of anesthetic drugs most commonly during surgical
procedures. It could be used to relieve pain, numb an area of the body going into surgery, or induce
unconsciousness. A doctor or specialists who has studied anesthesiology will be the individual

Before going learning about the various anesthesia procedures and the anesthetics involved, it would
be best to understand the history of anesthesiology. Ronald D. Miller best describes a brief history of
anesthesiology in his book Miller s Anesthesia. He states:
The first anesthetics were given to ameliorate the pain associated with dental extractions and minor
surgery. As the complementary fields of surgery and anesthesiology matured together, new skills were
required of the anesthesiologist, including expertise in resuscitation, fluid replacement, airway
management, oxygen transport, operative stress reduction, and postoperative pain control. Today,
personnel from the anesthesiology department are located throughout the hospital, ranging from the
ambulatory care center to the intensive care unit. Organizing a coherent historical document is
therefore complicated by the diverse roles of anesthesiologists, in the modern hospital, especially in
perioperative medicine. (Miller, Ronald D. 3)
Local anesthesia is used when a patient is undergoing a minimally invasive procedure like a port
placement, or some carpal injections. The most common forms of local anesthesia are: infiltration
anesthesia; nerve blocks; haematoma blocks; intravenous regional block; and extradural and spinal
anesthesia. These procedures are relatively quick and rarely take longer than a few

Human Trafficking in Cambodia Essay
Human Trafficking in Cambodia Imagine a four year old girl growing up in contemporary Cambodia.
Each morning she wakes up miles from home, homesick and scared. She is forced to beg for money
for the brothel that she belongs to, and all of her earnings go straight to her master. Then, that night,
about seven men come to the brothel. These men, some as old as fifty, often pay as little as two dollars
to partake in sexual intercourse with these school aged children. The toddlers enslaved in the horrific
sex trade are forever stripped of their purity, making human trafficking a major issue in present day
Cambodia. Over 30,000 children are sexually exploited annually ( Children for Sale ), and millions
have been forced into human trafficking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Girls are abused and beaten regularly, and the government condones these actions as if they are not
occurring. Currently, however, more and more respected organizations are helping with the fight
against human trafficking, although the problem still heavily influences the country. To begin with, in
Cambodia, human trafficking has been a pertinent problem for the past two decades, mainly because
of myths, poverty, and traditions. In the country, a tradition often surfaces about men having a great
desire to have sexual intercourse with those who are pure and young because it will remove all of their
sins. The myth is that when men had sexual relationships with virgins, it would grant them luck and
good health. For this reason, an abundance of pedophiles used to visit Cambodia because they knew
that the country condoned prostitution (Pesta). Due to the myth and the command of pedophiles for
prepubescent girls, brothels are targeting those younger and younger. Children as young as four are
being sent into the sex trade, and prostitution has become a fixture of urban life in Cambodia ( The
Face of ). Furthermore, visiting prostitutes has become a common and accepted male pastime [in the
country] (Sidner). The abundance of people in Cambodia visiting the cities for the sole purpose of sex
sullies the reputation of the country, and it puts the

The Rise Of Violent Crimes
Violent crimes are more likely to be reported to the police than property crimes, for the reason that it
tends to have witnesses. Not only can witnesses help catch the criminal, but there s also always a
victim. The victim can report the crime and give descriptions of the offender. Now when it comes to
property crimes, there s not always a witness, the criminal might break in a house, however, the
residents might not be in the home at the moment. This makes it harder to catch the criminal, because
the victims don t have enough prove that they can show when they are filling a police report. I am
actually very surprised that the data showed that 80% of car thefts are reported. I m surprised, because
even though it s still a high percentage, it

Essay On Casablanca Movie
Casablanca Film Critique In the film, Casablanca, director Michael Curtiz uses screenplay,
cinematography, music and sound, and acting performances to highlight the pitfalls of neutrality in
both love and war. Humphrey Bogart (portraying Rick Blaine) and Ingrid Bergman (portraying Ilsa)
had an onscreen chemistry that just clicked. Through performance, I was able to identify with Bogart
because in life everyone will be given different ultimatums given on the different life choices. People
just have to learn which choice is the right one. Every time the camera was on Bogart, he almost
always looked ill/ or was sweating when he was faced with making a difficult choice. Aside from
Bogart sweating a lot, the audience would see Ilsa crying in at least every other scene. Both Bogart
and Ilsa got the audience to feel sadness and fear while the side ... Show more content on

The climatic scenes in the movie surround those moments when the characters are presented with a
choice. The ultimate final scene when Rick has to choose whether to be with Ilsa or sacrifice his
happiness for the greater good. Rick was telling Ilsa that you may not regret it now but soon you will
if you don t leave. The dialogue conveys this point as well when he tells her that she needs to leave.
Had the movie ended with Rick getting on the plane or with him withholding the passes with Ilsa, it
would ve been a letdown. The screenplay s use of flashbacks heightens the plot by demonstrating how
much Rick really loves Ilsa even though he pretends to put up with her. Rick is conveying to Ilsa what
he has learned in the final scene that you ve got to sometimes make a choice when it is hard. The
script in the dialogue was very genuine because Rick is a cynic and his dialogue makes him seem like
he knows it all and that he doesn t get attached to anyone and it was really just a front for him being a

Hacking Is An Illegal Activity
Definition of Hacking
Hacking is an illegal activity that expert computer programmers do in order to access someone else s
personal data or information without permission. These people have developed skills to dominate and
break through the software. They called themselves hackers. Some hackers consider hacking as an art.
In addition, Hackers usually use the computer and the Internet to hack into the software system
remotely which means they can do it even if they live in entirely different regions. Hacking has
threatened the security of all people, companies and governments all over the world because hacking
can cause harmful consequences, such as the installation of malicious software or damage the software
(Merriam Webster), (What Is Computer Hacking).
The History of Hacking
The term of hacking was first used in the 1960s by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
which is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In fact, at that time, many people misunderstood the
idea of hacking as the development of the computer software functions. Up until 1980, hacking was
not as common as it is nowadays. Hackers have been developing methods to get into holes which are
both gaps in the firewalls and entry points into software systems (either local or remote). When
hacking started, the motivation for it was based on curiosity. The hackers wanted to explore how they
could improve the system. Hackers thought hacking was useful to create solutions which made life
easier for all

I was a teenager when my mother originally developed Alzheimer s and then later, dementia. I can still recall the first time she ever asked me that question. It was springtime, I know that because I had just come home from softball practice. I had yet to take even five steps into the house when a shriek rang out. Who are you? My mother, Elizabeth, yelled so loudly it attracted the attention of my father. I could do nothing else but stand and stare at her. How was it possible that my own mother had forgotten not only my name, but also my face? I did not know how to respond to her. Was this just some joke she was playing with me? ... Although, it was not like it just happened out of the blue; the doctors informed us mother s memory had been deteriorating for a long time before the name incident ever took place. No one thought anything of it when she just forgot her keys or a bag of groceries out in the car. But of course we observed when she started forgetting who everyone was. There was even a circumstance of my mother forgetting my younger brother, Timothy, at the supermarket. Mother and Timothy had gone to the supermarket for groceries, but when mother returned home Timothy was not with her. The plane was at about 700 feet when the incident occurred and BBC reported that the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) rated the incident as a serious risk of collision. Although the military uses drones a lot on the daily basis for good things to keep them safe, drones should be banned from the public as they are not safe for the public to have a handle on, people use them for the wrong things, and this is similar to the issue of guns and semi automatic weapons, they just don t belong in the hands of private citizens. ... Even when Martin s uncle married, he moved nearby to another house, and lived close to his relatives. Martin returned with his bride to his father s house after they married, and lived with his family under one roof (Davis 18). Since their main concern was survival and perpetuation of the family, this indicates how important family life was to the peasants. Women had a lesser position than men did in the society. Davis writes, At the parish mass, she would have to get used to the fact that her women did not push ahead of the men to make their offerings, did not go about the church to collect for the vestry, and din not serve as sacristans (Davis 15). Women were also blamed for a man s impotence, as Davis notes. She writes, In the sixteenth century, it was usually blamed on the power of a woman outside the marriage (Davis 21). • 9. Nitrogen, Carbon and Phosphorus Cycles Essay Nitrogen, Carbon and Phosphorus Cycles The carbon cycle deals with the interaction of carbon between living organisms and the nonliving environment. This cycle is a process through which all carbon rotates. The main result of the carbon cycle is to serve as a great natural recycler of carbon atoms. The cycle works in a very basic way. First, carbon is taken from carbon dioxide found in the air. Plants take in carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Plants absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and use it, combined with water they get from the soil, to make substances they need for growth. The carbon is then mixed with water. Carbon dioxide is then formed into sugar (glucose). The process of photosynthesis incorporates the carbon atoms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The result on people can be very deadly. Too much carbon in the air can cause cancer. The nitrogen cycle is extremely important. This is because of the importance of nitrogen itself. Nitrogen is a basic element of life. It also makes up 78 percent of the Earth s atmosphere. It forms an essential part of amino acids (which make up proteins) and DNA. Nitrogen is essential for all living cells. The nitrogen cycle consists of 5 steps. First the basic element nitrogen in converted to ammonia. This process is called nitrogen fixation. This process is done by nitrogen fixing bacteria. Then the ammonia gets converted to nitrate. Denitrifying bacteria aid in this process. Like all other elements, nitrogen is very important in life but in moderation. Freedom Writers, a 2007 movie adaptation of the 1999 book The Freedom Writers Diary (Freedom Writers), illustrates just how large an issue racism is in society. Also the play contains many poetic narrations such as my desolation begins to make a better life One of the many themes of the play Antony and Cleopatra is loyalty Antony loved Cleopatra so much and was so loyal to her that he gave up being part of the triumvirate to stay with her. He even betrayed Caesar by abandoning his sister and his wife. He even went to war with Caesar because of Cleopatra while she on the other hand was never loyal to Antony even though she claims to kill herself over him. Her constant willingness throughout the play to manipulate him is an indication of the fact that she d betray him as soon as it was convenient for her, either politically or emotionally she wasn t as loyal to him as much as he was loyal to her. Also another example of loyalty from the play is Enobarbus after Enobarbus deserts Antony he then ultimately regrets the decision so much that he dies of his sorrow he was very loyal to Antony but something went wrong that made him betray Antony but because of how loyal he was before to Antony he then died of his sorrow regretting not being loyal to Antony till the end. Open Door Policy Essay In addition to the failure of the first aspect of the US open door policy, the second principle that the Chinese government should be able to tax trade also failed due to internal conflict. Before the US Open door policy in 1899 1900, the Sino Japanese war had caused chaos and fear in China. The fear of foreign powers and another invasion was one of the main reasons for the Revolution of 1911. Led by Sun Yat sen the revolution was a response partially to the Boxer Rebellion of 1905 and the Sino Japanese War. The reason for the rebellion was the violation of what Sun called the 3 Principles . Similar to the Boxer Rebellion, the Boycott of 1905 represented the anti colonial and anti foreign sentiment the Chinese had developed through years of built up anger. The implementation of the Open Door Policy was at just the wrong time. It was released during the height of the Boxer Rebellion when xenophobic sentiments were at their peak (insert evidence). The timing of the US Open Door policy in addition to the internal conflict in China lead to the Open Door Policy becoming somewhat useless. However, the Boycott of 1905 was not a response to internal problems, but a response to American policy that discriminated against Chinese people. Additionally, it was not a single policy that caused this conflict, but a string a policies starting in 1882 with the Chinese Exclusion Act, which was the first major lawful exclusion of any race in the US. • 27. How Does Jane Austen Use Anne Elliot Respond To Peer... In the excerpt from Jane Austen s novel Persuasion, Anne Elliot is faced with a decision normally seen as a dream come true by nineteenth century women of marrying her knighted cousin. However, in true Brothers Grimm fashion, Anne was reluctant to enter into the incestious relationship of her dreams even at the wishes of close family friend, Lady Russell. Through her narrative techniques of selection of time frame, character selection, and an omniscient point of view, Austen illustrated the nature of the proposed relationship and the desires of both Lady Russell and Anne. The time frame Austen selected for her story emphasized the weight of the proposed union set in a time where titles were worth more than life, the scenario of marrying a knighted man and being able to keep it within the family bloodline was a win in all aspects. The knowledge of how great an impact the marriage would have on Anne s family name brought a greater gravity to her doubts on the marriage and put her in a position where, upon declining the proposal, could lead to her social ostracization. ... Origins of the Cold War Essay Origins of the Cold War Revisionist historians tend to regard the outbreak of the Cold War as a result of American hostility or, at least , diplomatic incompetence, while the more traditional view lays the responsibility squarely at the feet of the Soviet Union. Assess the validity of each view. The Cold War,said to have lasted from the end of World War II to the dismantling of the Soviet Union in 1991, was one of the most significant political events of the 20th century. For nearly 40 years the world was under the constant threat of total devastation, caught between the nuclear arsenals of the United States, Great Britain, and France on one side and the Soviet Union and the People s Republic of China on the other. One such act of aggression came when the Soviets attempted to gain complete control of Berlin by forming a blockade against all of the other Allied forces. Despite the barrier, the United States airlifted tons of supplies to those who were in need of them in Berlin. This was the very beginning of antagonistic relations. Another form of aggression that angered the Americans was Stalin s refusal to hold free elections in Eastern Europe, while he covertly set up their governments to act as puppet satellites, forming a protective barrier around the U.S.S.R. The Soviets reluctance to reunify Korea and the strong Communist atmosphere in North Korea also disgruntled Americans and hurt diplomatic relations. Overall, each step that the Soviet Union took to strengthen its power and the power of the Communist party was viewed as an act of aggression, and there are many historians who strongly believe that the Soviets were at fault in the instigation of the Cold War due to these immense acts of aggression. The period in the United States following World War II could more aptly be named American Hysteria rather than history according to the more revisionist historians. Feminists have fought against the ingrained tradition of women as housewives with no rights and being looked down upon as the lesser sex. The women s rights movement in the United States has worked tirelessly since 1848 to fight for rights and break down gender barriers. Misogyny and gender constructs, such as the ideal of beauty, hold women back in various aspects of their lives as discussed in the articles Marked Women by Deborah Tannen and A Woman s Beauty: Put Down or Power Source by Susan Sontag. Not wearing makeup is an unmarked decision for men while for women, it will mark them differently in the eyes of others. Today, if a girl decides not to wear makeup to school, she is bombarded with questions like Are you sick? or Are you tired? Girls are then judged if they wear too much makeup, if they do not wear it correctly, if they do not wear enough, or if they choose to not wear it at all. Wearing makeup is used to determine whether a woman looks professional, put together, or attractive, and if it is not worn women are marked to be without any of these characteristics. Lincoln Electric Company of Cleveland Ohio USA`s organizational Culture is exceptional and has earned it the acolade of being the best managed manufacturing company in the whole world. I will explore and attempt to identify culture aspects of Lincoln Electric from several issues such as; the continuing influence of founders of the company, the golden rule, the incentive management plan, the performance appraisal system, how people communicate in the organization, the merit pay plan, the bonus plan, and the management style. Normally Founders instill the culture they want right from the beginning of their organizations. That is exactly what John C Lincoln did when he established his company Lincoln Electric in 1895. Humphrey Bogart (portraying Rick Blaine) and Ingrid Bergman (portraying Ilsa) had an onscreen chemistry that just clicked. Through performance, I was able to identify with Bogart because in life everyone will be given different ultimatums given on the different life choices. People just have to learn which choice is the right one. Every time the camera was on Bogart, he almost always looked ill/ or was sweating when he was faced with making a difficult choice. The ultimate final scene when Rick has to choose whether to be with Ilsa or sacrifice his happiness for the greater good. Rick was telling Ilsa that you may not regret it now but soon you will if you don t leave. The dialogue conveys this point as well when he tells her that she needs to leave. Rick is conveying to Ilsa what he has learned in the final scene that you ve got to sometimes make a choice when it is hard. The script in the dialogue was very genuine because Rick is a cynic and his dialogue makes him seem like he knows it all and that he doesn t get attached to anyone and it was really just a front for him being a soft ... In addition, Hackers usually use the computer and the Internet to hack into the software system remotely which means they can do it even if they live in entirely different regions.
