Diversity In Canada
Diverse cultures has made Canada the best country for foreign immigrants. Canada made a huge
impact to the immigrants because the government accepted each of them to live in the country;
which gave them the opportunity to re build their lives and status again. Also, Canada has lots of
opportunities in terms of jobs and education. Everyone is welcome in Canada. People has diverse
cultures, ethnicity, and beliefs, but they are treated equally in Canada. They also do not
discriminate each other in terms of their colour, status, class, age, gender, work, and education
level. Foreign immigrants have come all over the world to come to Canada; to have a better life
and see what Canada can do for them in coming years. To begin with, Canada is known... Show

Aboriginal people during the 1900s were struggling because government of Canada took away their
legal rights and ownership from their homeland. They have suffered from many discrimination, for
instance, children were forced to go to residential school and they were not allowed to speak their
own language. Also, government did not give them any proper health care and medication; causing
the children to die at very young age. Another reason is that when the Europeans bought their land,
they promised to give Aboriginal people the rights to go for hunting and fishing, but they did not
keep their promised to keep Aboriginal legal rights from their land. Additionally, they had two
different government to rule Aboriginal people from the north and south. Basically, in the north,
they had the accurate rights for the Aboriginal people, but in the south, federal government was
treating Aboriginal people inappropriately; slowly claiming their homeland.
The second issue that the Aboriginal people were facing was the ethno cultural groups that came to
Canada from different countries across the globe. Since Asians, Ukrainians, Finns, and Norwegians
came to Canada, the government have somehow forgotten the Aboriginal people. The government
of Canada was focused on the immigration; landing many job opportunities from the people that

Paper Chromatography Lab Report
Lab 8: Investigation 5
Lab question: How do you separate molecules that are attracted to one another?
Procedure: Place a small amount of solvent in separate beakers. Then place the mixture on
chromatography paper and put the paper in each beaker.
Controls: The chromatography paper used for each of the beakers would have to be the same
because different chromatography papers may contain different amounts of cellulose, which would
vary how attracted the solvent is to the paper. The amount of time allowed for the dyes to travel
also has to be the same for each solvent in order to obtain accurate Rf values for comparison.
Conclusion: Molecules that are attracted to one another are best separated by water (solvent). The
Rf values were 0.813 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The solvent moves through the stationary phase by capillary action (it is attracted to the thin
layer of water in the cellulose) and picks up the molecules that are attracted to it. To determine
the level of separation of the mixture, Rf values are used. Rf values are given by the ratio of the
distance the dye travels divided by the distance the solvent travels. The farther the dye travels,
the more attracted it is to the solvent and the greater the Rf value. Water is the best solvent to
separate the dyes because it is the most polar of all the solvents and it is attracted to ions
(forming an ion dipole moment.) The sulfate groups in the dyes have strong interactions with
the water because of their charges. Because the dyes are polar, they are attracted to more polar
solvents (water). Blue 1 had the greatest affinity for water because it has the most sulfate groups,
a place for H bonding to happen, and it is the largest meaning it has more LD forces and is more
polarizable. Yellow 5 has several sulfate groups, H bonding, and a carboxylic acid group. The red
traveled the least because it has fewer sulfate groups, is the smallest, and has less LD forces (less
polarizable). Water would be the most green solvent because it is not

Parasympathetic Stimulation
The autonomic nervous system is an integrated controlling system that is responsible for regulating
and maintaining homeostasis for the optimal function of all internal organs. Along with other major
systems, the autonomic nervous system dictates the status of the internal environment of the body
and will make adjustments through feedback loops based on internal and external changes detected.
Understanding the significance of manual autonomic regulation in a controlled setting will lay the
groundwork for future therapies in cardiovascular disease and many other diverse diseases. We
specifically wanted to test if unconscious stimulation of the vagus nerve will be less inhibited than

Strong vagal stimulation can decrease the strength of the heart muscle contraction by 20 to 30
percent (Hall, 2011 p.120). In a study done on canines under anesthesia, sympathetic stimulation
was inhibited when concurrent vagal activity was present and cardiovascular effects seen included
heart rate reduction by inhibition of the sympathetic nervous system and by direct hyperpolarization
of sinus nodal cells. Vagal parasympathetic activation was shown to predominate over sympathetic
activation (Levy Zieske, 1969). This response is known as accentuated antagonism (Olshansky et
al. 2008). In the Contemporary Review of Cardiovascular Medicine and Parasympathetic Nervous
System and Heart Failure published by Dr. Brian Olshansky and his colleagues at the University of
Iowa, epidemiological data is examined that indicates that the resting heart rate, a measure of vagus
nerve function, predicts mortality (Olshansky et

How Does A Clockwork Orange Relate To Psychology
A Clockwork Orange Analysis Paper In the movie A Clockwork Orange, the main character Alex
is a deviant adolescent who commits many violent and sexual atrocities and is eventually jailed for
them. While in jail, Alex is given the opportunity to shorten his sentence if he would participate in
an experiment. This experiment actually involved the Ludovico Technique, a form of aversion
therapy where the participator watches film of his antisocial behavior and presumably enjoys it,
but afterwards is given a drug to make him feel sick while he watches the same film. This leads the
participant to associate the film with the negative feeling in the stomach, and presumably would
lead to him associating the antisocial behavior with the bad feeling. In the movie, Alexgoes through
this procedure, watching video of violence and rape, and is later shown to be incapable of
assaulting a man who belittles him and is violently... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The film provides a good example for how classical conditioning is used in the world. Skinner s
theories of behaviorism are introduced in many of the scenes throughout the movie. According
to Skinner, acquisition and retention of new behaviors would elicit rewards. Pavlov s theory of
classical conditioning involves a stimulus and a response that are connected (Myers, 2013).
Using the injection, classical conditioning was used to make Alex feel ill every time he watched
the films. Thus, every time Alex felt the urge to be violent he would associate those feelings with
physical illness and respond by not responding and lashing out. According to Thorndike s Law of
Effect, we only repeat behaviors that provide us with a desired effect. Since violence was no
longer a behavior that gave him pleasure, he could no longer obtain the same gratification as
before. Alex extinguished his behaviors because they were no longer

CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
This chapter provides some background information relating to the core of the thesis.
1.1. WIRELESS NETWORKING INTRODUCTION
Wireless networking is an emerging technology that allows users to access information and
services electronically, regardless of their geographic position. The use of wirelesscommunication
between mobile users has become increasingly popular due to recent performance advancements in
computer and wireless technologies. This has led to lower prices and higher data rates, which are
the two main reasons why mobile computing is expected to see increasingly widespread use and ...

1.1. MOBILE AD HOC NETWORKS
1.1.1. Overview of Mobile Ad Hoc Networks
A Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) consists of a set of mobile hosts that carry out basic
networking functions like packet forwarding, routing, and service discovery without the help of
an established infrastructure [1]. Nodes of an ad hoc network rely on one another in forwarding
a packet to its destination, due to the limited range of each mobile host s wireless transmissions.
An ad hoc network uses no centralized administration. This ensures that the network will not
cease functioning just because one of the mobile nodes moves out of the range of the others.
Nodes should be able to enter and leave the network as they wish. Because of the limited
transmitter range of the nodes, multiple hops are generally needed to reach other nodes. Every
node in an ad hoc network must be willing to forward packets for other nodes. Thus, every node
acts both as a host and as a router. The topology of ad hoc networks varies with time as nodes
move, join or leave the network. This topological instability requires a routing protocol to run on
each node to create and maintain routes among the nodes [21].

Willa Cather Research Paper
A reader can gain much knowledge from just one book. Willa cather is an amazing authors that
can transform the way you think , and your outlook on the subject. Williams states, The early
years of young Willa s life left a memorable impression on her and formed the basis for many of
her stories and characters. The Cathers travelled west across six states landing in Nebraska,
Webster county, in 1883 to live at her paternal grandfather s farm In My Antonia by Willa Cather

one of America s great love stories. Her main characters face challenges but yet still find a way
to live. Also by Willa Cather, A Wagner Matinee is also a very informational text. In this piece, A
woman leaves her home and sees what she is missing in life. SHe realises the grass is greener on
the other side, and never wants to go back. The three things that I learned about the West from
Willa Cather s My Antonia and A Wagner Matinee are beauty is in the eye of the beholder, change
is a good thing, and love is eternal.

Essay on Imperialism
Imperialism is often excused as a way of liberating people from tyrannical rule or by introducing
the policies of a better way of life. It is based on the ground of a variety of causes running the gamut
of economic pressures, greed, security, power, prestige, religion, and many other effective measures
that can be taken given the circumstances. Arguments about the roots and virtue of imperialismcan
be put into four basic groups. The first is whether or not imperialism is economically beneficial.
The second relates to the social aspect of imperialism and the natural desire to rule others. The third
is protection and security, building up military powers around the world in order to help the main
country when trouble erupts. Finally, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Britain had feared that they would be cut off and India would be taken from them. Keeping India
was essential to Britain s survival as an empire, without which they would be just another European
nation. To solve this problem, Britain gained control of the Suez Canal, then eventually the entirety
of Egypt.
Another country needed in order to protect India was South Africa. Its port at Cape Town was an
essential stop for all people en route to India. When gold and diamonds were later discovered in
other parts of South Africa, Britain fought and annexed all of South Africa. At this time, neither
Germany nor Italy was unified and France was busy fighting with Prussia. The European powers
really had no interest in external affairs for the time. 1871 changed everything. Germany and Italy
were unified and France had just lost the Alsace Lorraine to the Germans.
The French were the first to begin the annexation of Africa, mostly because they wanted to restore
their lost sense of national pride. Because both Germany and France went for Africa, the English
were suddenly faced with the fear of competition. An economic slump in Europe in the 1880s
caused markets to become even scarcer than they were to begin with. In a futile attempt to right
themselves as an empire, Britain began taking over land in Africa. After all, land in Africa was
quite cheap. It was slightly afterwards that all the European powers realized what they had bought
into, and had to face the fact

Empowerment Theory
Empowerment as a goal in feminist therapy is achieved by reframing and reconceptualizing
psychopathology as an external patriarchal social structure. The concept of psychopathology is
generally avoided in feminist therapy. Instead, feminist therapy uses the terms distress (subjective
experience of misplaced well being) and dysfunction (ways of being that created life difficulties;
Brown, 2010). Shifting the blame to uncontrollable forces can be empowering for the client. The
experience of powerlessness and disempowerment are central to occurrence of distress and
dysfunction. Brown (2010) conceptualized power existing across four domains of human
experience: (1) somatic/biological power body is accepted and experienced as safe place; (2)
intrapersonal/intrapsychic power thoughts and feelings are known, intuition trusted; (3)
interpersonal/social contextual power boundaries and relationships are healthy; and (4) spiritual
/existential power meaning making systems can respond to existential challenges. Issues of
empowerment (or disempowerment) can occur within and across these various domains. Repeated

These four axes of power provide opportunity for clients to explore and break their trance of
powerlessness. Therapists invite clients to examine and identify where and how they can access
greater power and to explore tools and strategies within and through the therapeutic relationship.
Additionally, the empowerment models can be targeted at any of the 4 axes of power depending
on the goals of the client. Power is reconceptualized as a continuous rather than discrete variable
which can be gained. Distress and dysfunction are reframed as empowering, reflecting the
motivation to take those steps to be a powerful individual. The metaphor of symptom as resistance
offered by Brown (2010) connects clients to their agency in attempting to address

Third Person Point Of View In Literature
Point of view is the perspective a piece of literature is being narrated from. In first person point
of view, the writer writes as if the person who the book is about wrote the book, using words like
I and me . Second person point of view uses word like you , as if the author is talking to you and
directing you what to do. Third person point of view is when the author writes as if they are a
spectator of the book, using words like they and she and he . There are three different types of
third person point of view. The first on is Limited third person point of view. The author writes
from an outsider s perspective, and knows what the main character is thinking, but is limited to
that one character. It is almost as if the author lives in the brain of the person. Third person
Omniscient point of view is different. The author is watching from an outside view and isn t part of
the story. This time though, the author isn t limited to one character s thoughts. Instead, the author
jumps from character to character s minds, as if they document what happens in one person s
mind, and switches to the next when the chapters change or the paragraphs end. The last point of
view is Objective point of view, which is used rarely except in children s books. It is when the
author is completely detached from the character, only narrating what they see.... Show more

Why Ability Assessments Don t Cross Cultures
Patricia M. Greenfield University of California, Los Angeles
A central thesis of this article is that ability tests can be analyzed as items of symbolic culture. This
theoretical perspective, based in cultural psychology, provides psychological researchers and
clinicians with the tools to detect, correct, and avoid the cross cultural misunderstandings that
undermine the validity of ability tests applied outside their culture of origin. When testers use tests
developed in their own culture to test members of a different culture, testees often do not share the

The thesis of this article is that IQ and other ability tests are based on social conventions in each of
these three cultural domains. These conventions are presupposed or assumed by a test and its tester.
However, for any test to function successfully, these conventions must also be shared by the
participants. If a test travels, so must the conventions on which it is based. Otherwise, cross cultural
misunderstanding results and validity is compromised. For a test to travel freely, its foundational
conventions must be universally understood by potential participants. In each of the three cultural

North Korea is known for its nuclear capabilities, but there was a new threat introduced to the

Functions Of Currency Exchange Markets
1.Explain 4 functions of currency exchange markets. Provide a thorough example (real or
hypothetical) of each type of function in action in business.
a.Currency Conversion: is a way to execute a transaction by converting one currency into another.
This takes place when you/your company decides to invest in international affairs. When engaging
in a foreign investment you must convert your US dollars into the foreign currency when making a
sales and the opposite would happen if the country was buying a product from you.
i.For example, Sanofi Aventis, a French pharmaceutical company, wants to sell a new medication
for diabetes to the United States. The American customer wants to pay for the medication in dollars,

16th, Toyota Motors establishes a contract with a local bank to exchange the payment in one month
at an agreed upon exchange rate specified on December 16th. Now Toyota Motors will know how
many yen the payment will be worth on January 16th.
c.Currency Arbitrage: is the instantaneous purchase and sale of a currency in different markets for
profit. This type of currency exchange market is frequently used by experienced traders in foreign
exchange markets, along with large investors. Using this type of exchange market maximizes oyur
profits and allows you to evaluate three currencies at a time and brings the market into an
equilibrium.
i.For example, as you are investing in the New York Stock exchange you notice that the
Malaysian ringgit is lower in Greece than it is in New York. As a trader you can buy riggits in
Greece, sell them in New York, and earn a profit on the spread. Now the process of this trade is
not worth making if the spread between the value of the riggit, the value in Greece and the value in
New York is not greater than the cost of conducting the transaction. ii. Interest Arbitrage: is a profit
motivated purchase and sale of interest paying securities

Why or why not? The short answer to this question is yes. Genesis s flood story can be thought
of as written by other couple sources, authors J and P (Hays 90). Author J is the older
manuscript and Author P is the redactor. Author J is identified because of the use of Yahweh.
Author P is likely the priestly redactor that would not use the holy name of Yahweh. Priest would
instead us the word Lord. Another way source division is identifiable is through doublets that
seem to occur throughout the Genesis narrative. Some of the doublets contradict one another
therefore leading one to believe there are more than one author. For example, Author J states that
seven pairs of ritually clean and one pair of unclean animals were taken aboard the Ark then 40
days of rain ensued. The later redactor, Author P , seems to transpose a different (Babylonian)
account of 2 pairs of animals and 150 days of rain (Hays 91) Best explanation is that P and J has
been harmonized over time, both full stories, then redaction by a later

Freedom And Responsibility In Lord Of The Flies By William...
Most people do not really want freedom, because freedom involves responsibility, and most
people are frightened of responsibility. Once said Sigmund Freud the father of psychology.
People have been blessed with freedoms and generally say that they want to be more free , but
what they don t understand is that freedom is responsibility. Being free means that the individual
is responsible for his or her future and most people are scared of that. However, both freedom and
responsibility are often in conflict, they can contradict each other when viewing certain topics.
Even though a comparison of freedom and responsibility reveals several similarities there are also
a considerable number of differences when parenting a child, exercising free speech,... Show more

When it comes to parenting, parents should be responsible with how they raise their child. It is
important for the parents to teach their child age appropriate skills so the kid can act
independently. More importantly, it is their job to provide a safe environment for their kids to
foster their child s well being. In the story Lord of the flies by author William Golding, the
author shares his thoughts in a unique way by telling a story where children got stuck on an
island having the freedom to do anything they like. The children lost their sense morality and
became savages; the story shows how children can be if left uncared for. The freedom of free
speech can be abused when people are not responsible for their actions. Individuals have the
right to say what they want but in limits that abide the countries laws, and to avoid disrespecting
other people. Furthermore, spreading hate speech against certain groups is not considered free
speech anymore, it is just slander. Additionally, people have to watch how far they stretch the
term free speech and be responsible with it. Most of the choices people make affect themselves
so they should be responsible for what choices they make. For example, if an employee wakes
up one morning and decides to not go to work this morning. He should be responsible for what
comes next, either calling in sick or even getting fired from work. To be responsible for our
choices is dealing with what happens after making a wrong decision or taking in the credit or the
approval after doing a good

Cathy Torrez Murder
The Power of Murder
Family members or people close to the victim cause 80% of murders, according to the FBI s
Expanded Homicide Data. Out of this awfully big number, a victim is Cathy Torrez. Based on
an episode of a show on NBC called Dateline, Cathy Torrez was a smart, humble, and very
determined person who had a bright future ahead of her. All her dreams and hopes were
unfortunately destroyed when her ex boyfriend Sam Lopez killed her due jealousy (About). Sam
planned to meet Cathy after work and Cathy, of course, attended their meeting. At the meeting, Sam
noticed a hickey on her neck. That hickey angered him as it was from another man Cathy had been

employee of Selena s businesses, and was close to her like a personal assistant or some may say

Selena had no problem with Yolanda and actually loved and appreciated all that Yolanda did for
her. That was until Selena discovered, Yolanda had embezzled more than $60,000 from the fan
club and boutiques (Fernandez). Selena was mad that Yolanda had stolen money from her and
what angered her was that Yolanda denied it. As a result of this Yolanda was fired. This,
however, did not stop Yolanda as she had easy accesses to all of Selena s businesses and most
importantly her personal life. She knew Selena s strengths and weakness and this helped her
manipulate Selena. The way she manipulated Selena to her death was, Yolanda was fired, but still

Yolanda was able to make Selena attend their meeting shows her manipulation, as she was smart to
keep important paperwork that would force Selena to come get it back from her. Yolanda having
that paperwork caused an argument between them that led Yolanda to grab

The Pros And Cons Of Assault Weapons Ban
The current legislation in America is pushing for an Assault Weapon ban, in the hopes of
diminishing and stop, mass shootings and gun crime, although the ban of Assault Weapons will
have absolutely no effect on gun crimes and mass shootings. We as Americans are in a crossroad,
dived in this issue we face today, everyone has different views and opinions on how should we
approach these assault weapons, that we are constantly being informed on the daily news,
commonly used by portrayers of evil. The majority of Americans, that are not informed with the
way current gun laws, and restrictions are normally the ones that agree with an assault weaponbar or
stricter gun control laws.
Perhaps the first step into addressing the ban, is that it will not prevent mass shootings, instead
we should understand how these weapons operate. I would like to begin by explain this weapon
that everyone seems to be scared and terrified about.First of what are assault weapons, well most
Americans will say a weapon used by the military that can shoot fully automatic by just holding
the trigger, and in some sense, they are right, but what they fail to see is, those are highly illegal in
some states, and in others require a class 3 military contractor license and hundreds of thousands of
dollars to acquire, which your daily American cannot afford. The term assault weapon by definition
is a weapon that can be switch between semi automatic, and full automatic, the weapons that we see,

the Angels to expand their brand to a wide variety of people. LA is also helps the Angels because
the weather is nice year round making a day at the ballpark more appealing to fans. In addition,
they have 6 time All Star and 2 time AL MVP winner, Mike Trout. After being drafted by the
Angels in 2009, Trout is currently the one of the league s best players and one of the most popular,
having been in the top 10 of jersey sales each season since 2012. The ballpark experience for fans
is also very inexpensive allowing fans to enjoy the low price tickets and food/beer prices. The

Indian Removal Act Of The Early Nineteenth Century
From the onset of Europe s exploration to the new world, the Native Americans have had the land
that they once called their own stolen from them. As history continued to play out, the Indians
could never escape the stigma that they were wild savages. This is no more evident than with the
Indian Removal acts of the early nineteenth century in which many Indians were sent to their death
on the Trail of Tears. Then came the age of reservations which began just before the Civil War,
placing Indian Tribes onto land that they were assigned. This is where they have remained for many
years because at the time it was just easier to put them aside. Even though the history between the
two has been rough their relationship evolved overtime. The United Stateshave become an
important ally for the tribes even they were the ones who put them on the reservations in the first
place. The United States government should do more to help Indian casinos, domestic violence
cases, and poverty and land disputes because of the sovereign nation s troubles with these issues.
The opposition to the government being more of a factor in the Native American activities would
argue that the United States were the ones that put them in this position in the first place. They are
the reason that all of the substance abuse, poverty, domestic violence, and land disputes have
occurred on the reservations so far. This argument does have merit with the government making
mistakes in dealing with Native American

In this process the surface of the two components to be joined are cleaned, placed close together
and heated while being protected from oxidation. The pool of molten metal forms and concentrates

Reconstruction Of African American During Reconstruction
History helps shape the future and what we can learn from it to make sure that we do not repeat the
same mistakes. During Reconstruction, the country was trying to make amends after the war was
over. The country needed to find a way to mend a broken nation because it was divided. The main
issue during reconstruction was the status of African Americans because they wanted their civil
rights, but could not get that. The question that needs to be answered is: who did the most to aid
the cause of African American during Reconstruction, and why? Many organizations and people
helped African Americans, but the Freedman s Bureau did the most. They helped provide education
for the freed African Americans. According to the Virginia Historical Society, they say, they used
their authority over former confederate properties to provide buildings for schools. The Freedman s
Bureau wanted to make sure that African Americans had a proper education because they were
deprived of education while they were growing up. The Virginia Historical Society says, the
Freedman s Bureau, missionary associations, and African Americans themselves funded the
schools; many of the mostly white, female teachers came from the south with the missionary
associations. The Bureau wanted this to be successful and with the help of the missionary
associations and the African Americas to fund the schools, it would make it a reality. The Freedman

Abstract A numerical investigation has been carried out for incompressible turbulent flow through
900bend pipes. The model is based on the numerical solution of conservation equations of mass
and momentum. The results of the simulations of the flow in the form of contour and vector plots
for two types of pipe bend both mitre and smooth bend with seven different Reynolds numbers
(2.0+E04, 2.5+E04, 3.0+E04, 3.5+E04, 4.0+E04, 4.5+E04 and 5.0+ E04) are presented in this
paper. From the obtained results, it is seen that the mitre bend produces more turbulent kinetic
energy, eddy viscosity, skin friction factor compared to the smooth bend. To put an emphasis on
the smooth bend for different R/D ratios, the static pressure distribution along the inner, outer
wall and the pressure loss factor with different Re numbers are analyzed. However, it is noticed
that as Re increases the pressure gradient changes rapidly at the inner and the outer wall of the
bend. Again, the total pressure loss factor k increases as the R/D ratio decreases and due to higher
velocity heads factor k decreases as Re increases. The numerical results are found to be in a good
agreement with experimental

Postural Stress Relief
Postural Stress Relief
Postural stress that mostly comes from the areas of your shoulders and neck is prone to
happening after sitting for long periods of time. Desk workers especially may experience pain in
the lower back and gluteal areas. This is where massages can play a key role in the healing
process in any discomfort you may have related to postural stress. Massages can counteract the
imbalance caused from sitting for a long period of time, just don t forget to schedule a regular
massage.

note that experts have estimated approximately 99 percent of disease is stress related, so one must
manage this stress before it impacts our health negatively. Clients come out of massage clinics with
a much better sense of perspective and clarity.
The emotional balance bodywork is just as important as the tangible physical benefits that are
associated with massages, so both your body and your brain will loves you for it. Massages can

Egyptian Mummification And The Afterlife
Egyptian Mummification and the Afterlife The study of humans is commonly known as
anthropology. One major topic of humankind that anthropologists study is culture. Culture is
described as the beliefs, customs, arts, etc. of a particular society, group, place, or time. Culture is
different among every group of people and there are many different customs and behaviors
involved in various cultures. It s easy for people to be egocentric, or believe that their cultureis
superior to all other cultures. It can be difficult for people to accept different behaviors and
traditions from other cultures, especially when they don t have first hand experience with these
strange behaviors. For example, in North America, when someone passes away it is traditional...

When someone passed away, the body was taken to the embalmers by the relatives, who then
chose the method and quality of mummification. The best and most expensive methods were
used on the wealthy, but there were cheaper alternatives for the poor. Every Egyptian was
entitled to mummification, with the exception of some criminals. The best and most costly
form of mummification was a very lengthy and extensive process. This lengthy process took
more than seventy days to complete. The first step was to draw out the brain through the
nostrils. A long, slightly hooked tool was introduced into the brain through the nose, swirled
around to liquefy the brain. The head was then tipped forward and all contents of the skull
poured out, again through the nose. The next step was to remove the contents of the abdomen.
The stomach, liver, lungs and intestines were all removed. The heart always remained because
the Egyptians believed that the heart was the most important organ in the body and that the soul
resided in the heart. After the organs were removed, they were dried out and placed in canopic
jars. Canopic jars are covered urns used in ancient Egyptian burials to hold the entrails from an
embalmed body. Four canopic jars were used for each mummy and in each jar a different organ
was placed inside. For example, the liver, intestines, lungs and stomach would all be placed in
separate canopic jars. Before the stomach was placed in a canopic jar, it was filled with pure myrrh,
cassia and other spices and sewn back together again. Once the organs were removed from the
body, the interior of the corpse was cleansed with palm wine and spices in order to dry the body
and protect it from decaying. After the body was filled with palm wine and spices, it was left to

Benefits Of The Uk Retaining An Unwritten Constitution
Constitution is a body of fundamental principles that sets out a framework of precedent which
regulates the functions, powers and duties amongst the organs of the government. It provides
authority to how such organs as the executive, legislative and judiciary must operate under a
constitution law. The fundamental purpose of a constitutionis being able to establish the roles and
powers of different branches of a state alongside the perspectives and rights of its citizens. The
United Kingdomis considered to have a constitution however, unlike the substantial countries like
the United States of America and Australia, who currently have a sole codified document. In
comparison, to the UK, Israel and New Zealand who are amongst the only three countries in the
world that have a distinctive constitution which does not have a single codified constitution. This
essay will be exploring and evaluating the advantages of the UK retaining an unwritten constitution,
in comparison to the potentials of the UK drafting a written constitution and its capability of being
flexible, alongside referencing made to John Alder and further academics.
A significant feature of the British constitution, is arguably said to be flexible to a certain extend,
in contrast to a rigid constitution such as the USA. Albert Venn Dicey defined a flexible
constitution as one under which every law of description can legally be changed with the same
ease and in the same manner by one and the same body.

another person to show, unfortunately I wasn t around long enough to be able to witness that.
There was another duo of girls, who from what I observed were celebrating a birthday, and

The change will occur to the company whether they are internal or external driving forces. The
trick is that the company should react and anticipate properly by showing its flexibility. Let us then
make it practical with our Sainsbury s case:
External factors:
According to Taylor (2008) one of the ways to examine the company s External factors is to present
a PEST analysis. * Political and legal Factors:
Sainsbury s is facing the huge growth and evolution of the globalisation which also represents an
opportunity for the group. The organisation can also penetrate the emerging international market
same as what Tesco and Carrefour (a French distributor) did, even if this plans are not in
Sainsbury s board. The investigation of price fixing between the four biggest brand names in the

It would be leading to lose the brand image that Sainsbury s is having with their consumers.
Moreover, the Government is about to decrease the tax rate from 30 to 28 % which will save a

Life Changing Events Happened From New York City
Life changing events happened in New York City. On September 11th, 2001 was without a
doubt, one of the most terrorizing experiences in the history of our Nation. You heard screams of
agony from people who were trying to seek safety for their loved ones. Pillars of smoke filled the
sky as innocent people cried out with agony and hurt of the injured and of people who didn t
understand what was going on. The streets were filled with clouds of dust and debris. The news
reporters told of the gripping story of how terror had struck the very hearts of the American
people. Our President, George W. Bush gave clear and concise demands to the events within a

By definition Civil Liberties is the state of being subjected only to laws that are established for

favored Ireland s independence. The famine is what fueled the Irish emigrant anger and most of
them viewed it to be the reason for leaving Irelandin the first place. John Mitchel, journalist for the
Nation, expressed the emigrants angry sentiments when he wrote:
The Almighty indeed sent the potato blight but it was the English who created the famine that over
a million men, women, and children were quietly killed over a period of time. They died of hunger
in the midst of abundance which their own hands created. (Mitchel)

Airport Security and the Transportation Security...
Abstract
Through the history of aviation the importance of airport security has steadily increased. Since the
terrorist attack of September 11, 2001, many changes have taken place at airports to prevent such
an attack from occurring again. The purpose of this paper is to: outline airport security procedures,
discuss the different technologies involved with airport security, as well as examine the components
of airport security. In addition I will also discuss the Transportation Security Administration s role in
our nation s airport security.

The TSA was tasked with the tremendous challenge of building a large federal agency responsible
for securing all modes of transportation. Funding for the TSA is accomplished by a $2.50 charge
per flight segment not to exceed $10.00 round trip, per customer. The mission as described by the
TSA website (www.tsa.gov) is as follows, The Transportation Security Administration protects the
Nation s transportation systems to ensure freedom of movement for people and commerce. The
vision of the TSA is, The Transportation Security Administration will continuously set the standard
for excellence in transportation security through its people, processes and technologies. The TSA
also states that its values are to have excellence in public service through: integrity, innovation, and
teamwork.
As with any government organization the TSA has taken much criticism on its security practices.
However, one must keep in mind that this administration is still in the beginning stages, and
much is still to be learned from the mistakes that have been made thus far. The TSA employees a
work force of over 50 thousand federal passenger and baggage screeners at 429 commercial service
airports. Out of those 429 airports five have been chosen to be part of a pilot program. In this
program the five commercial service airports that were chosen can hire their own passenger and
baggage screeners, after a

Advantages Of Privatisation In Malaysia
The privatisation initiative in Malaysia was introduced at the correct juncture in the country s
development. It is undeniable that the basis for privatisation was in keeping with current economic
thinking. The rationale for privatisation is based on the premise that governments should restrict
themselves to governing and not venture into running businesses. There are several reasons for this
argument, including the undesirability of a large bureaucracy, the inefficiencies of centralised
planning and the crowding out of private investment. The implementation of privatisation could be
undertaken in such a manner as to undermine the benefits that would otherwise accrue. The proper
conduct of privatisation requires that efficiency and transparency should be considered in the
implementation process. Otherwise, the outcomes might not be efficient and there will be an
extremely welfare loss. The implementation of privatisation requires that proper institutions be...

The PAP was reviewed annually with a view to identify measures to expedite the implementation of
the programme and to determine the entities to be privatised in the following two years. The PAP
was guided by a study undertaken by private consultants who were commissioned by the
government to review the advisability of privatising government owned entities (GOEs). The
government at that time, did institute a plan for privatisation. The PMP did define its objectives
clearly; it also identified the activities that were to be privatised. The PMP did rank the priority by
which projects were to be privatised, indicating those that were of national importance. PAP was
instead, concerned with the different categories of activities to be privatised and the methods for
restructuring non profitable companies. This document also outlined the stages in the

Compare Beowulf And Forrest Gump
Nowadays many people believe that Beowulf and Forrest Gump are similar because they both
considered as heroes of the time in which they lived. First of all, Beowulf considered as a hero
because he is capable of sacrificing himself and courage in the name of justice. He is brave, and
at the same time, a decent hero. There is no reason to doubt his merits. Forrest Gump is also
considered as a hero because he thinks about faith, love, honesty, patriotism. He is a kind person
who remained faithful to his family, friends, and his country. He is a man who always carries
God in his soul, and lives according to the laws of Christian love to God and to the nearest ones.
Both Beowulf and Forrest Gump do things that other people consider impossible. Beowulf and
Forrest Gump can be compared as heroes representing their time period and cultures. Beowulf is
a medieval heroic epic. The poem originated on the basis of ancient traditions related to pagan
times. The poem represent an early example of precisely moral heroism, but not the one that is
caused by the desire for fame and power. The main character of the poem, Beowulf, is capable of
sacrificing himself and courage in the name of justice. He is a true hero by honoring his country
and exerting his power and strength to protect others. His courage is shown by not hesitating to
risk his own life to pursue the Dane s enemies. By being self assured, Beowulf is able to
successfully defeat the fiends, Grendel and his infamous mother. At the time Beowulf is
planning to pursue the vindictive dragon, the epic poem states, I ve never known fear, as a
youth I fought in endless battles. I am old now, but I will fight again, seek fame still, If the
dragon hiding in his tower dares to face me. (ll. 2511 2515). He feels no fear, is confident in
fighting the dragon alone, and has no qualms in risking his life to save others. He declares his
bravery by saying, When he comes to me I mean to stand, not run from his shooting flames, stand
till fate decides which of us wins... No one else could do what I mean to, here, no man but me
could hope to defeat this monster. (ll. 2525 2534) In his actions, Beowulf s bravery is clearly
shown throughout the poem. As king, Beowulf is the

Computer Programming And Informational Technology
One of the best sources for career information is the U.S. Department of Labor s Bureau of Labor
Statistics (BLS). According to BLS data, 74 percent of new STEM (science, technology,
engineering and math) jobs through 2022 will be in computing (Hoffman). This information
shows that computer science is a major field, and that it is growing rapidly; However, there are
not enough people to fill the roles in this field. So, in order to understand how computers work and
what career paths are associated with them, It s important to figure out how the hardware works,
software works, and then see what career paths there are in computerprogramming and
informational technology in order to educate people on what they need to learn for this career....

Then information is then sent to the CPU, which has three basic capabilities: to perform basic
mathematical operations, move data from one memory location to another, make decisions to
jump from one instruction to another (Laue). Next, the character is sent to a RAM chip, an
integrated circuit made of millions of pairs of transistors and capacitors that are linked to create
a memory cell. These capacitors and transistors are arranged as a grid, with the columns
connected by bitlines and the rows connected by wordlines. The combination of bitlines and
wordlines defines an address for each switch and capacitor. This also accounts for why this type
of memory is called random access: you can access any memory cell directly if you know its
address (Laue). Finally, the letter is sent to the output device, which includes monitors, printers,
modems, ethernet cards, and speakers. Modems are the hardware device through which most of
us were introduced to the Internet. The computer operates exclusively with Is and Os, with a
digital code. By contrast, phone lines work with an analogue signal, an electronic current with
variable frequency and strength. It is the modem s job to demodulate data from a phone line, to
convert the wave to a series of Is and Os, and to modulate the data generated by the computer, to
convert the Is and Os to a continuous wave (Laue). So, the hardware of a computer works by
receiving an input from a keyboard, sending it to the motherboard s

Washing A Car Analysis
Every Sunday morning until the weather drops below freezing and my parents do not let me
use the hose, I wash my car. This may seem like an ordinary job to some, but to me washing a car
requires a distinctive technique. No matter how tired I am, every Sunday morning I wake up,
brush my teeth, put on my blue sweatpants and red sweatshirt, grab the keys to the car, and head
out into the driveway. Not even the puppy follows me outside; he likes to sleep till eleven o
clock on Sundays. I pull the car out into the driveway and position it just right so that the morning
sun is blocked by the thick leaves and branches of the tall maple, and so I can easily walk around
the back end. I then attach the longest hose I can find in the basement of my house

Comparing Love In Pride And Prejudice And Romeo And Juliet
Pride and Prejudice and Romeo and Juliet are two of the most acclaimed and outstanding English
literature composed about the conflict of love. Although both William Shakespeare s Romeo and
Juliet and Jane Austen Pride and Prejudice are two different genres of literary, one as a play and
the other, a novel both have had a huge impact on the sense of marriageand love. Despite both
works are set during the Regency Era and the Renaissance Era, I will demonstrate that both are
certainly similar regarding love and marriage.
Not only were women considered inferior to men but they were raised to believe it. In addition, it
was common that marriages were organised to establish/forge/form alliances with other aristocratic
families. This became

Finding Categorizing An Archaeological Site Analysis Essay
How are artifacts, ecofacts, or features analyzed? Discuss the process of finding, categorizing, and
interpreting an archaeological site. Describe at least two analytical methods (in detail) used by
archaeologists to interpret archaeological data. While most sites are found by accident, many sites
were carefully selected through surveys. By utilizing remote sensing technology, tools that allow us
to see what the naked eye cannot through mapping around the area, we are able to detect things
such differences in the ground s temperature and reveal hidden trails that we could only see from
the sky. With the information, experts are able to narrow down locations of potential excavation
sites by taking into account the surroundings such as the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most important aspects of analyzing an artifact is determining its age. Stratigraphic
excavation, typological cross dating, and radiocarbon dating are said to be the most important
methods of estimating the age of artifacts. Stratigraphic excavation is the most basic of all
techniques that utilizes the fact that the Earth has multiple layers that build up on top of each other
over time. To put it simply, an age estimate could be made based on how deep and object was
found. With radio carbon dating, archaeologists are taking into account the fact that every living
organism constantly absorbs 14C and levels it with the atmosphere s carbon; as soon as the
organism dies, it stops absorbing 14C and, over time, the levels decrease. Through measuring
those levels, experts are often able to determine the age of an artifact. However, the older the
item, the less 14C it contains and this could often affect the calculation s accuracy typically. This
method also does not work on carbon based materials. That being said, carbon dating can be as
accurate as up to 30 years (NCSU). Typological cross dating works through identifying distinctive
artifacts that are known to be made over certain areas and periods of time, and can work in
conjunction with the other two methods to help narrow down the age of the object

The Wrongful Convictions Of Innocent Men And Women
We hear in the news about police misconduct, use of excessive force, embezzlement, but one thing I
found while researching what I should write this paper on is the Wrongful convictions of innocent
men and women, that spend years in prison being innocent, and there is nothing that gets done till it
s too late. Some wrongful convictions are honest mistakes, but many times law enforcement and
prosecutors lose sight of the obligation of ensuring truth and justice, and are focused on their
convictionrates. As with any job, they are honest people and ones that just don t care and are
corrupt, this exists in the criminal justice system. One way to prove someone is innocent now is
through DNA testing, but even at all levels of a criminal investigation there could be misconduct or
mishandling of evidence, which then causes the evidence to become compromised.
One thing I notice is a lot of the misconduct is by the arresting officers or detectives that are
investigating the crime. The ways an office can have misconduct that could lead to false convictions,
include suggestions when conducting interviews, coercing false confessions, lying to jurors about
observations, failing to turn over evidence. Common forms of misconduct by a prosecutor can
include, withhold evidence from defense, mishandling, mistreating or destroying evidence,
allowing witnesses that they know are not truthful to testify, Pressing Witnesses of the defense to
not testify, relying on fraudulent forensic experts.

Louis XIV And The Development Of English Nationalism
In 1688 1689, England underwent a revolution that reshaped its monarchy. When James II took
the throne in 1685, the public was optimistic, but this quickly changed. The public s view of
James II went from optimistic to cynical because of the King s refusal to take action against the
French. Instead of taking action, many viewed James II as becoming like the French monarch. In
conjunction with a declining support, James II and his wife had produced a male heir in the
summer of 1688, insuring that a catholic would inherit the throne. The birth of a Catholic heir was
the breaking point for the English. The result was the English sending secret messages to Prince
William of Orange, inviting him to invade England. Marking the start of the revolution.... Show

When James II inherited the throne in 1685, the public expected James II to take action against
the French monarch King Louis XIV. The English people feared King Louis XIV s would try to
create a universal monarch. If Louis XIV had created a universal monarch, all other countries
would have lost their independence. For the English, it would have meant the end to the national
identity they all valued. Unfortunately for James II, he did not take action against France.
Instead, many believed and feared that James II wanted to change the English government to one
modeled after the French Government. This fear escalated when James II attempted to suspend
the test acts by issuing the Declaration of Indulgence. Although this declaration was supposed to
encourage religious tolerance, many English citizens did not view it that way. They viewed it as
treat to the established parliament in England. This increased fears because many compared
James II declaration to Louis XIV s acts when he invaded the supreme legal authority of France.
Because of their fear of being Frenchified, the English invited the Prince of Orange to invade
England, starting the revolution. To justify this action, Pincus describes it best. He said, English
loyalty was primarily to English law and English customs [national identity] rather than a
particular monarch. Since James had violated that law, he ceased to be an English king and was
no longer owed obedience. In the end, the Prince of Orange arrived with the support of the
majority of the English. As a result, James II abdicated and fled to France. The Nationalist
revolution of 1688 1689 had

Canada made a huge impact to the immigrants because the government accepted each of them to live in the country; which gave them the opportunity to re build their lives and status again. Also, Canada has lots of opportunities in terms of jobs and education. Everyone is welcome in Canada. People has diverse cultures, ethnicity, and beliefs, but they are treated equally in Canada. They also do not discriminate each other in terms of their colour, status, class, age, gender, work, and education level. Foreign immigrants have come all over the world to come to Canada; to have a better life and see what Canada can do for them in coming years. To begin with, Canada is known... They have suffered from many discrimination, for instance, children were forced to go to residential school and they were not allowed to speak their own language. Also, government did not give them any proper health care and medication; causing the children to die at very young age. Another reason is that when the Europeans bought their land, they promised to give Aboriginal people the rights to go for hunting and fishing, but they did not keep their promised to keep Aboriginal legal rights from their land. Additionally, they had two different government to rule Aboriginal people from the north and south. Basically, in the north, they had the accurate rights for the Aboriginal people, but in the south, federal government was treating Aboriginal people inappropriately; slowly claiming their homeland. The second issue that the Aboriginal people were facing was the ethno cultural groups that came to Canada from different countries across the globe. Since Asians, Ukrainians, Finns, and Norwegians came to Canada, the government have somehow forgotten the Aboriginal people. The government of Canada was focused on the immigration; landing many job opportunities from the people that came from different countries, but unfortunately, Aboriginal people were having so ... • 3. Paper Chromatography Lab Report Lab 8: Investigation 5 Lab question: How do you separate molecules that are attracted to one another? Procedure: Place a small amount of solvent in separate beakers. Then place the mixture on chromatography paper and put the paper in each beaker. Controls: The chromatography paper used for each of the beakers would have to be the same because different chromatography papers may contain different amounts of cellulose, which would vary how attracted the solvent is to the paper. The amount of time allowed for the dyes to travel also has to be the same for each solvent in order to obtain accurate Rf values for comparison. Conclusion: Molecules that are attracted to one another are best separated by water (solvent). The Rf values were 0.813 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The solvent moves through the stationary phase by capillary action (it is attracted to the thin layer of water in the cellulose) and picks up the molecules that are attracted to it. To determine the level of separation of the mixture, Rf values are used. Rf values are given by the ratio of the distance the dye travels divided by the distance the solvent travels. The farther the dye travels, the more attracted it is to the solvent and the greater the Rf value. Water is the best solvent to separate the dyes because it is the most polar of all the solvents and it is attracted to ions (forming an ion dipole moment.) The sulfate groups in the dyes have strong interactions with the water because of their charges. Because the dyes are polar, they are attracted to more polar solvents (water). Blue 1 had the greatest affinity for water because it has the most sulfate groups, a place for H bonding to happen, and it is the largest meaning it has more LD forces and is more polarizable. Yellow 5 has several sulfate groups, H bonding, and a carboxylic acid group. The red traveled the least because it has fewer sulfate groups, is the smallest, and has less LD forces (less polarizable). Water would be the most green solvent because it is not ... Parasympathetic Stimulation The autonomic nervous system is an integrated controlling system that is responsible for regulating and maintaining homeostasis for the optimal function of all internal organs. Along with other major systems, the autonomic nervous system dictates the status of the internal environment of the body and will make adjustments through feedback loops based on internal and external changes detected. Understanding the significance of manual autonomic regulation in a controlled setting will lay the groundwork for future therapies in cardiovascular disease and many other diverse diseases. We specifically wanted to test if unconscious stimulation of the vagus nerve will be less inhibited than conscious stimulation and will parasympathetic stimulation then... Vagal parasympathetic activation was shown to predominate over sympathetic activation (Levy Zieske, 1969). This response is known as accentuated antagonism (Olshansky et al. 2008). In the Contemporary Review of Cardiovascular Medicine and Parasympathetic Nervous System and Heart Failure published by Dr. Brian Olshansky and his colleagues at the University of Iowa, epidemiological data is examined that indicates that the resting heart rate, a measure of vagus nerve function, predicts mortality (Olshansky et ... • 5. How Does A Clockwork Orange Relate To Psychology A Clockwork Orange Analysis Paper In the movie A Clockwork Orange, the main character Alex is a deviant adolescent who commits many violent and sexual atrocities and is eventually jailed for them. While in jail, Alex is given the opportunity to shorten his sentence if he would participate in an experiment. This experiment actually involved the Ludovico Technique, a form of aversion therapy where the participator watches film of his antisocial behavior and presumably enjoys it, but afterwards is given a drug to make him feel sick while he watches the same film. This leads the participant to associate the film with the negative feeling in the stomach, and presumably would lead to him associating the antisocial behavior with the bad feeling. In the movie, Alexgoes through this procedure, watching video of violence and rape, and is later shown to be incapable of assaulting a man who belittles him and is violently... Skinner s theories of behaviorism are introduced in many of the scenes throughout the movie. According to Skinner, acquisition and retention of new behaviors would elicit rewards. Pavlov s theory of classical conditioning involves a stimulus and a response that are connected (Myers, 2013). Using the injection, classical conditioning was used to make Alex feel ill every time he watched the films. Thus, every time Alex felt the urge to be violent he would associate those feelings with physical illness and respond by not responding and lashing out. According to Thorndike s Law of Effect, we only repeat behaviors that provide us with a desired effect. Since violence was no longer a behavior that gave him pleasure, he could no longer obtain the same gratification as before. Alex extinguished his behaviors because they were no longer ... Figure 1.1: Infrastructure Network. Figure 1.2: Ad Hoc Network. 1.1. MOBILE AD HOC NETWORKS 1.1.1. Overview of Mobile Ad Hoc Networks A Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) consists of a set of mobile hosts that carry out basic networking functions like packet forwarding, routing, and service discovery without the help of an established infrastructure [1]. Nodes of an ad hoc network rely on one another in forwarding a packet to its destination, due to the limited range of each mobile host s wireless transmissions. An ad hoc network uses no centralized administration. This ensures that the network will not cease functioning just because one of the mobile nodes moves out of the range of the others. Nodes should be able to enter and leave the network as they wish. Because of the limited transmitter range of the nodes, multiple hops are generally needed to reach other nodes. Every node in an ad hoc network must be willing to forward packets for other nodes. Thus, every node acts both as a host and as a router. The topology of ad hoc networks varies with time as nodes move, join or leave the network. This topological instability requires a routing protocol to run on each node to create and maintain routes among the nodes [21]. 1.1.1. Mobile Ad hoc Networks Usages Wireless ad hoc ... It is based on the ground of a variety of causes running the gamut of economic pressures, greed, security, power, prestige, religion, and many other effective measures that can be taken given the circumstances. Arguments about the roots and virtue of imperialismcan be put into four basic groups. The first is whether or not imperialism is economically beneficial. Britain had feared that they would be cut off and India would be taken from them. Keeping India was essential to Britain s survival as an empire, without which they would be just another European nation. To solve this problem, Britain gained control of the Suez Canal, then eventually the entirety of Egypt. Another country needed in order to protect India was South Africa. Its port at Cape Town was an essential stop for all people en route to India. When gold and diamonds were later discovered in other parts of South Africa, Britain fought and annexed all of South Africa. At this time, neither Germany nor Italy was unified and France was busy fighting with Prussia. The European powers really had no interest in external affairs for the time. 1871 changed everything. Germany and Italy were unified and France had just lost the Alsace Lorraine to the Germans. The French were the first to begin the annexation of Africa, mostly because they wanted to restore their lost sense of national pride. Because both Germany and France went for Africa, the English were suddenly faced with the fear of competition. An economic slump in Europe in the 1880s caused markets to become even scarcer than they were to begin with. • 11. Empowerment Theory Empowerment as a goal in feminist therapy is achieved by reframing and reconceptualizing psychopathology as an external patriarchal social structure. The concept of psychopathology is generally avoided in feminist therapy. Instead, feminist therapy uses the terms distress (subjective experience of misplaced well being) and dysfunction (ways of being that created life difficulties; Brown, 2010). Shifting the blame to uncontrollable forces can be empowering for the client. The experience of powerlessness and disempowerment are central to occurrence of distress and dysfunction. Brown (2010) conceptualized power existing across four domains of human experience: (1) somatic/biological power body is accepted and experienced as safe place; (2) intrapersonal/intrapsychic power thoughts and feelings are known, intuition trusted; (3) interpersonal/social contextual power boundaries and relationships are healthy; and (4) spiritual /existential power meaning making systems can respond to existential challenges. In first person point of view, the writer writes as if the person who the book is about wrote the book, using words like I and me . Second person point of view uses word like you , as if the author is talking to you and directing you what to do. Third person point of view is when the author writes as if they are a spectator of the book, using words like they and she and he . There are three different types of third person point of view. The first on is Limited third person point of view. The author writes from an outsider s perspective, and knows what the main character is thinking, but is limited to that one character. This time though, the author isn t limited to one character s thoughts. Instead, the author jumps from character to character s minds, as if they document what happens in one person s mind, and switches to the next when the chapters change or the paragraphs end. • 18. Atrahasis Vs Gilgamesh The book of Genesis contains various creation, flood and patriarchal narratives. Genesis was written in a certain time and place, to a certain audience, with a certain meaning intended by the original author. However, Genesis wasn t the only source in regards to creation, flood and patriarchal narratives throughout the Near East during this time. In fact, the accounts in Genesis took place at a later time than some of the other literature in the Near East. It also could be argued that the authors of Genesis were influenced by the culture in their writings. The goal will be to show how each kind of narrative is both similar and dissimilar so that the Genesis narrative is brought more into focus and understood more clearly. What issues do... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why or why not? The short answer to this question is yes. Genesis s flood story can be thought of as written by other couple sources, authors J and P (Hays 90). Author J is the older manuscript and Author P is the redactor. Author J is identified because of the use of Yahweh. Author P is likely the priestly redactor that would not use the holy name of Yahweh. Priest would instead us the word Lord. Another way source division is identifiable is through doublets that seem to occur throughout the Genesis narrative. Some of the doublets contradict one another therefore leading one to believe there are more than one author. For example, Author J states that seven pairs of ritually clean and one pair of unclean animals were taken aboard the Ark then 40 days of rain ensued. The later redactor, Author P , seems to transpose a different (Babylonian) account of 2 pairs of animals and 150 days of rain (Hays 91) Best explanation is that P and J has been harmonized over time, both full stories, then redaction by a later ... Most people do not really want freedom, because freedom involves responsibility, and most people are frightened of responsibility. Once said Sigmund Freud the father of psychology. People have been blessed with freedoms and generally say that they want to be more free , but what they don t understand is that freedom is responsibility. Being free means that the individual is responsible for his or her future and most people are scared of that. However, both freedom and responsibility are often in conflict, they can contradict each other when viewing certain topics. Even though a comparison of freedom and responsibility reveals several similarities there are also a considerable number of differences when parenting a child, exercising free speech,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When it comes to parenting, parents should be responsible with how they raise their child. It is important for the parents to teach their child age appropriate skills so the kid can act independently. More importantly, it is their job to provide a safe environment for their kids to foster their child s well being. In the story Lord of the flies by author William Golding, the author shares his thoughts in a unique way by telling a story where children got stuck on an island having the freedom to do anything they like. The children lost their sense morality and became savages; the story shows how children can be if left uncared for. The freedom of free speech can be abused when people are not responsible for their actions. Individuals have the right to say what they want but in limits that abide the countries laws, and to avoid disrespecting other people. Furthermore, spreading hate speech against certain groups is not considered free speech anymore, it is just slander. Additionally, people have to watch how far they stretch the term free speech and be responsible with it. Most of the choices people make affect themselves so they should be responsible for what choices they make. For example, if an employee wakes up one morning and decides to not go to work this morning. He should be responsible for what comes next, either calling in sick or even getting fired from work. To be responsible for our choices is dealing with what happens after making a wrong decision or taking in the credit or the approval after doing a good ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Indian Removal Act Of The Early Nineteenth Century From the onset of Europe s exploration to the new world, the Native Americans have had the land that they once called their own stolen from them. As history continued to play out, the Indians could never escape the stigma that they were wild savages. This is no more evident than with the Indian Removal acts of the early nineteenth century in which many Indians were sent to their death on the Trail of Tears. Then came the age of reservations which began just before the Civil War, placing Indian Tribes onto land that they were assigned. This is where they have remained for many years because at the time it was just easier to put them aside. Even though the history between the two has been rough their relationship evolved overtime. The United Stateshave become an important ally for the tribes even they were the ones who put them on the reservations in the first place. The United States government should do more to help Indian casinos, domestic violence cases, and poverty and land disputes because of the sovereign nation s troubles with these issues. The opposition to the government being more of a factor in the Native American activities would argue that the United States were the ones that put them in this position in the first place. The main issue during reconstruction was the status of African Americans because they wanted their civil rights, but could not get that. The question that needs to be answered is: who did the most to aid the cause of African American during Reconstruction, and why? Many organizations and people helped African Americans, but the Freedman s Bureau did the most. They helped provide education for the freed African Americans. According to the Virginia Historical Society, they say, they used their authority over former confederate properties to provide buildings for schools. The Freedman s Bureau wanted to make sure that African Americans had a proper education because they were deprived of education while they were growing up. The Virginia Historical Society says, the Freedman s Bureau, missionary associations, and African Americans themselves funded the schools; many of the mostly white, female teachers came from the south with the missionary associations. The model is based on the numerical solution of conservation equations of mass and momentum. The results of the simulations of the flow in the form of contour and vector plots for two types of pipe bend both mitre and smooth bend with seven different Reynolds numbers (2.0+E04, 2.5+E04, 3.0+E04, 3.5+E04, 4.0+E04, 4.5+E04 and 5.0+ E04) are presented in this paper. From the obtained results, it is seen that the mitre bend produces more turbulent kinetic energy, eddy viscosity, skin friction factor compared to the smooth bend. To put an emphasis on the smooth bend for different R/D ratios, the static pressure distribution along the inner, outer wall and the pressure loss factor with different Re numbers are analyzed. However, it is noticed that as Re increases the pressure gradient changes rapidly at the inner and the outer wall of the bend. Again, the total pressure loss factor k increases as the R/D ratio decreases and due to higher velocity heads factor k decreases as Re increases. The numerical results are found to be in a good agreement with experimental ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The best and most expensive methods were used on the wealthy, but there were cheaper alternatives for the poor. Every Egyptian was entitled to mummification, with the exception of some criminals. The best and most costly form of mummification was a very lengthy and extensive process. This lengthy process took more than seventy days to complete. The first step was to draw out the brain through the nostrils. A long, slightly hooked tool was introduced into the brain through the nose, swirled around to liquefy the brain. The head was then tipped forward and all contents of the skull poured out, again through the nose. The next step was to remove the contents of the abdomen. Four canopic jars were used for each mummy and in each jar a different organ was placed inside. For example, the liver, intestines, lungs and stomach would all be placed in separate canopic jars. Before the stomach was placed in a canopic jar, it was filled with pure myrrh, cassia and other spices and sewn back together again. The organisation can also penetrate the emerging international market same as what Tesco and Carrefour (a French distributor) did, even if this plans are not in Sainsbury s board. The investigation of price fixing between the four biggest brand names in the United Kingdom market can have some negative effect in the industry and for every competitor. It would be leading to lose the brand image that Sainsbury s is having with their consumers. Moreover, the Government is about to decrease the tax rate from 30 to 28 % which will save a weighty amount of money. Sainsbury s has to follow the packaging and labelling rules according to the food and drinks local laws. * Economic Factors: The significant increase of the food price is due to the global crisis all over the world, which will probably lead to a higher

On September 11th, 2001 was without a doubt, one of the most terrorizing experiences in the history of our Nation. You heard screams of agony from people who were trying to seek safety for their loved ones. Pillars of smoke filled the sky as innocent people cried out with agony and hurt of the injured and of people who didn t understand what was going on. The streets were filled with clouds of dust and debris. The news reporters told of the gripping story of how terror had struck the very hearts of the American people. Our President, George W. Bush gave clear and concise demands to the events within a few days following the horrible attacks on the Twin Towers. The demands that later led to new ACT s being passed by Congress, would have a drastic change to what we call Civil Liberties. By definition Civil Liberties is the state of being subjected only to laws that are established for the good of the community, especially in terms of our freedom of action and speech. When we think of the violation of Civil Liberties we think of those who are detained under specific verbiage, all the while understanding the Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpuswill be measured for its effectiveness by ensuring the actions against the War on Terror, are justified. It is undeniable that the basis for privatisation was in keeping with current economic thinking. The rationale for privatisation is based on the premise that governments should restrict themselves to governing and not venture into running businesses. There are several reasons for this argument, including the undesirability of a large bureaucracy, the inefficiencies of centralised planning and the crowding out of private investment. The implementation of privatisation could be undertaken in such a manner as to undermine the benefits that would otherwise accrue. The proper conduct of privatisation requires that efficiency and transparency should be considered in the implementation process. • 43. Compare Beowulf And Forrest Gump Nowadays many people believe that Beowulf and Forrest Gump are similar because they both considered as heroes of the time in which they lived. First of all, Beowulf considered as a hero because he is capable of sacrificing himself and courage in the name of justice. He is brave, and at the same time, a decent hero. There is no reason to doubt his merits. Forrest Gump is also considered as a hero because he thinks about faith, love, honesty, patriotism. He is a kind person who remained faithful to his family, friends, and his country. He is a man who always carries God in his soul, and lives according to the laws of Christian love to God and to the nearest ones. Both Beowulf and Forrest Gump do things that other people consider impossible. Beowulf and Forrest Gump can be compared as heroes representing their time period and cultures. Beowulf is a medieval heroic epic. The poem originated on the basis of ancient traditions related to pagan times. The poem represent an early example of precisely moral heroism, but not the one that is caused by the desire for fame and power. The main character of the poem, Beowulf, is capable of sacrificing himself and courage in the name of justice. He is a true hero by honoring his country and exerting his power and strength to protect others. His courage is shown by not hesitating to risk his own life to pursue the Dane s enemies. By being self assured, Beowulf is able to successfully defeat the fiends, Grendel and his infamous mother. At the time Beowulf is planning to pursue the vindictive dragon, the epic poem states, I ve never known fear, as a youth I fought in endless battles. I am old now, but I will fight again, seek fame still, If the dragon hiding in his tower dares to face me. (ll. 2511 2515). He feels no fear, is confident in fighting the dragon alone, and has no qualms in risking his life to save others. He declares his bravery by saying, When he comes to me I mean to stand, not run from his shooting flames, stand till fate decides which of us wins... No one else could do what I mean to, here, no man but me could hope to defeat this monster. (ll. 2525 2534) In his actions, Beowulf s bravery is clearly shown throughout the poem. This information shows that computer science is a major field, and that it is growing rapidly; However, there are not enough people to fill the roles in this field. Then information is then sent to the CPU, which has three basic capabilities: to perform basic mathematical operations, move data from one memory location to another, make decisions to jump from one instruction to another (Laue). Next, the character is sent to a RAM chip, an integrated circuit made of millions of pairs of transistors and capacitors that are linked to create a memory cell. These capacitors and transistors are arranged as a grid, with the columns connected by bitlines and the rows connected by wordlines. The combination of bitlines and wordlines defines an address for each switch and capacitor. This also accounts for why this type of memory is called random access: you can access any memory cell directly if you know its address (Laue). Finally, the letter is sent to the output device, which includes monitors, printers, modems, ethernet cards, and speakers. Modems are the hardware device through which most of us were introduced to the Internet. The computer operates exclusively with Is and Os, with a digital code. By contrast, phone lines work with an analogue signal, an electronic current with variable frequency and strength. It is the modem s job to demodulate data from a phone line, to convert the wave to a series of Is and Os, and to modulate the data generated by the computer, to convert the Is and Os to a continuous wave (Laue). By utilizing remote sensing technology, tools that allow us to see what the naked eye cannot through mapping around the area, we are able to detect things such differences in the ground s temperature and reveal hidden trails that we could only see from the sky. One of the most important aspects of analyzing an artifact is determining its age. Stratigraphic excavation, typological cross dating, and radiocarbon dating are said to be the most important methods of estimating the age of artifacts. Stratigraphic excavation is the most basic of all techniques that utilizes the fact that the Earth has multiple layers that build up on top of each other over time. To put it simply, an age estimate could be made based on how deep and object was found. With radio carbon dating, archaeologists are taking into account the fact that every living organism constantly absorbs 14C and levels it with the atmosphere s carbon; as soon as the organism dies, it stops absorbing 14C and, over time, the levels decrease. Through measuring those levels, experts are often able to determine the age of an artifact. However, the older the item, the less 14C it contains and this could often affect the calculation s accuracy typically. This method also does not work on carbon based materials. That being said, carbon dating can be as accurate as up to 30 years (NCSU). Typological cross dating works through identifying distinctive artifacts that are known to be made over certain areas and periods of time, and can work in conjunction with the other two methods to help narrow down the age of the object ... The Wrongful Convictions Of Innocent Men And Women We hear in the news about police misconduct, use of excessive force, embezzlement, but one thing I found while researching what I should write this paper on is the Wrongful convictions of innocent men and women, that spend years in prison being innocent, and there is nothing that gets done till it s too late. Some wrongful convictions are honest mistakes, but many times law enforcement and prosecutors lose sight of the obligation of ensuring truth and justice, and are focused on their convictionrates. As with any job, they are honest people and ones that just don t care and are corrupt, this exists in the criminal justice system. One way to prove someone is innocent now is through DNA testing, but even at all levels of a criminal investigation there could be misconduct or mishandling of evidence, which then causes the evidence to become compromised. One thing I notice is a lot of the misconduct is by the arresting officers or detectives that are investigating the crime. The ways an office can have misconduct that could lead to false convictions, include suggestions when conducting interviews, coercing false confessions, lying to jurors about observations, failing to turn over evidence. Common forms of misconduct by a prosecutor can include, withhold evidence from defense, mishandling, mistreating or destroying evidence, allowing witnesses that they know are not truthful to testify, Pressing Witnesses of the defense to not testify, relying on fraudulent forensic experts. ... When James II took the throne in 1685, the public was optimistic, but this quickly changed. The public s view of James II went from optimistic to cynical because of the King s refusal to take action against the French. Instead of taking action, many viewed James II as becoming like the French monarch. In conjunction with a declining support, James II and his wife had produced a male heir in the summer of 1688, insuring that a catholic would inherit the throne. The birth of a Catholic heir was the breaking point for the English. The result was the English sending secret messages to Prince William of Orange, inviting him to invade England. When James II inherited the throne in 1685, the public expected James II to take action against the French monarch King Louis XIV. The English people feared King Louis XIV s would try to create a universal monarch. If Louis XIV had created a universal monarch, all other countries would have lost their independence. For the English, it would have meant the end to the national identity they all valued. Unfortunately for James II, he did not take action against France. Instead, many believed and feared that James II wanted to change the English government to one modeled after the French Government. This fear escalated when James II attempted to suspend the test acts by issuing the Declaration of Indulgence. Although this declaration was supposed to encourage religious tolerance, many English citizens did not view it that way. They viewed it as treat to the established parliament in England. This increased fears because many compared James II declaration to Louis XIV s acts when he invaded the supreme legal authority of France. Because of their fear of being Frenchified, the English invited the Prince of Orange to invade England, starting the revolution. To justify this action, Pincus describes it best. He said, English loyalty was primarily to English law and English customs [national identity] rather than a particular monarch. Since James had violated that law, he ceased to be an English king and was no longer owed obedience. In the end, the Prince of Orange arrived with the support of the majority of the English. As a result, James II abdicated and fled to France. The Nationalist revolution of 1688 1689 had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
