1. Mind Mapping Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Mind Mapping" poses a unique set of challenges, requiring
a delicate balance between the intricacies of the topic and the need for clarity in conveying ideas.
First and foremost, one must grapple with the complexity of the mind mapping concept itself
– a technique that involves visualizing thoughts and organizing them into a structured format.
This demands a comprehensive understanding of the theory and practical applications, making it
crucial for the writer to delve deep into the intricacies of cognitive processes.
Moreover, the challenge lies in the synthesis of information from various sources to provide a
well-rounded perspective on mind mapping. It necessitates the exploration of cognitive
psychology, educational theories, and practical instances where mind mapping proves to be a
valuable tool. The essay should not only explain the concept but also explore its effectiveness in
enhancing creativity, problem-solving, and information retention.
Expressing these ideas in a coherent and engaging manner further adds to the difficulty. The
writer must navigate through the maze of information, carefully selecting and presenting relevant
points without overwhelming the reader. Clarity of expression is key, as mind mapping is, at its
core, a visual and intuitive process that needs to be communicated effectively through words.
Additionally, incorporating personal insights and experiences while maintaining an objective
tone can be challenging. Striking the right balance between analysis and personal reflection
requires finesse, ensuring that the essay remains informative and relatable.
In conclusion, crafting a comprehensive essay on the topic of mind mapping demands a nuanced
approach, involving a deep understanding of the subject matter, effective synthesis of
information, and skillful expression. It is an endeavor that requires time, dedication, and a
commitment to delivering a piece that not only educates but also captivates the reader with the
potential of mind mapping as a cognitive tool.

2. The Movie The Namesake
The film, The Namesake, directed by Mira Nair, suggests that everyone has a
cultural identity, whether they ignore or embrace it. Gogol Ganguli initially wants
to abandon his family s traditions and adopt American customs since he was born
in America. Soon he learns that his name has a very emotional meaning to his
father. Because of his new knowledge of the significance of his name, he begins to
enter a transformation where he accepts and loves his culture. Throughout the
film, Gogol has an internal conflict with himself when, on one side, he has his
Indian culture, and on the other, he has the American culture he has always
wanted to belong to. Although some people think that cultural identity is destined
and final, I claim that cultural identity can change because of how willing people
are to welcome it. The major reason that causes Gogol to rethink his relationships
and his identity is the meaning of his name. When he was younger, he wanted to
be called Nick and went by this name after high school. As he used the name, Nick,
he severed ties with his traditions which showed from when he did not visit his
parents and completely forgot his life before becoming Nick. Flashbacks were
utilized several times in this film to portray Gogol growing up and the train crash
which inspired Ashoke to name his son Gogol. In the scene where Ashoke drives
with Gogol, he finally discloses how Gogol s name really came to be. We see a
flashback to the train collision when Ashoke was found
3. Symbolism and Metaphor In The Humbling River by
Maynard...
The questions, What does it mean to be human, and how might we transcend human
nature? have been a subject of debate for philosophical and theological thinkers for
centuries. In recent history, scientific discoveries have led to a resurgence of these
ancient debates that break down into three primary schools of thought. There are
those who believe that we, like the rest of the animal kingdom, have certain basic
programming that determines our fundamental nature, and those who believe that
human beings are born tabula rasa and that nurture determines who we are. The issue
becomes increasingly complex for those with the theological belief that human beings
are spiritual creatures and that our spirituality is what defines us. However, a... Show

The word home is metaphor for the greater culture to which we belong and represents
the influence of that culture on our way of thinking and acting. The sum of all of
these forces then, defines who we are as individuals and serve to define what
motivates us to action, our nature. The second half of the first stanza introduces an
extended metaphor describing the motivating factor of human nature, saying, To
conquer every mountain shown (Keenan). While the word conquer, conjures up
images of imperialistic warfare, within the context of this song the word has a
broader meaning and may be more clearly understood as the will to power and the
will to meaning. That is, the driving forces of human nature are achievement, which
is motivated by personal ambition to reach the highest possible position we may
accomplish, and the drive to understand the meaning of our lives. The word mountain
represents every type of obstacle that might get in the way of that goal, while the
word I directly refers to the singer and metaphorically refers to humanity as a
collective of individuals motivated by personal self interest. Taken together with the
first half of this stanza, we see the idea that the defining characteristic of human
nature is to overcome, or conquer, every obstacle that obstructs the will to power or
prevents us from discovering truth. The singer then introduces the controlling
metaphor (or main theme) of the song, which is transcendence saying, But I ve
4. John Stuart Mill s Version Of Utilitarianism
In the Utilitarian doctrine the consideration of pleasure and pain is constrained to
ends. By this doctrine pleasure is the only thing desirable as an end and pain is the
only thing undesirable as an end. Everything else is good or evil as it tends to
promote pleasure or pain*. I will argue that pain should be considered as a means as
well as an end and show that this is consistent with John Stuart Mill s version of
Utilitarianism. Conjoining the consideration of pain as a means and the notion of
association of ideas, I will give what I hope is a unique explanation as to why higher
pleasures are so often considered superior to lower pleasures. Finally I will end with a
short exposition that may help to explain Mill s mental crisis of 1826 by using the
ideas advanced in this paper.
Pain and pleasure are experienced partially relative to each other. A given
experience will be inherently pleasurable or painful, but previous experiences
influence the experience of pleasure or pain. Relevant for this essay, painful
experiences tend to increase the pleasure of subsequent experiences. I will
illustrate this with an example. Relative to getting a finger jabbed in your eye, not
getting a finger jabbed in your eye is pleasurable. Relative to a state of ecstasy, a
normal state in which you are not getting your eye jabbed is painful. In both
examples, the normal state of not getting a finger jabbed in your eye is the same,
except for what came prior. In the first case the prior

6. The Future Like Ours Don Marquis Analysis
An Analysis of Strengths and Weaknesses of FLO in Don Marquis s An Argument
that Abortion is Wrong
Don Marquis in his article An Argument that Abortion is Wrong sets forth an
argument that, except in rare cases, abortion is wrong. Two of Marquis s main points
against abortion are The Future Like Ours Account for the Wrongness of Killing and
The Appeal to Cases Argument. In these sections of his article, Marquis argues that
killing anyone, including a fetus, is wrong when it robs that individual of the
opportunity to have a future like ours (FLO). Marquis argues in The Future Like
Ours Account for the Wrongness of Killing that [p]remature death is a misfortune,
in general, because it deprives an individual of a future of value. (Marquis 755) A
Future Like Ours is described by Marquis as the opportunity to have a future of
value. Every individual should hves the opportunity to have a future of value, thus
one issue of abortion is whether fetuses should be allowed to have a future like ours .
Marquis does state the level of misfortune varies between different deaths because of
the underlying premise of being deprived of a future conscious life. To show the...

Marquis could have included a few internal summaries of cause and effect to make his
arguments more apparent to the common reader. If at the end of each important
section he had ended by clearly explaining his reasoning, his logical sequence would
have been clearer. The issue of abortion should have been highlighted with greater
detail throughout the article to put more emphasis on the central theme of the
argument. With this addition, it would have shown how each sub point tied into to
the argument against abortion. Marquis s argument against abortion is logically and
irrefutably sound because of his argument that fetuses should have the right to a

7. War Themes During The Falklands War
War Themes There were various war themes identified during the Falklands war. One
of the biggest challenges the British encountered during the war was logistics, which
supports the theme on Resourcing and Sustaining the war. Considering that Britain is
more than 8,000 miles away compared to Argentina which is less than 1,000 miles
away from Falklands. The critical to the campaign of Britain was the transport of
supply, troops rotation and reinforcement were difficult to handle. Admiral
Fieldhouse pointed out that geographic location was his foremost considerations in
transporting troops, aircraft and equipment from the United Kingdom to the
operational theatre. Further, the British at that has limited number of ships required
for the long transit of troops, equipment and logistic support. The British government
was able to tap the assistance of private ship owners who lend their assets to boost
the slack in the resources to transport the logistics used during the war which resulted
to the success of the British war campaign in Falklands island.
The Political objective of war was clear on both sides. Britain projected an
international image of naval power and that it can still protect its colonies and her
worthy allies. Britain was known to maintain command of the sea and boasted its

Adult Entertainment and First Ammendment Rights
The essence of the American dream stems from freedom. Before this nation was even
called the United States of America, religious separatists ventured across the Atlantic

state. Today, we find ourselves in a constant battle with ethics, morals and values in
the United States. Seeing that we are a nation that is culturally diverse myriad of
cultures and religions has been mixed together and the final outcome is the society
that we live in today. A serious conflict between the morally correct and the ethically

These people have the absolute right, based on the first amendment, to voice their
opinions without question, but to place a person at a disadvantage because they own
a certain type of business is against the foundations on which our nation was

Current laws in Seminole and Orange counties prohibit adult entertainment
establishments from being located within one mile of any residential area. Further,
recent changes in county codes have limited full nudity in Seminole County. Having
instituted this law prior to the foundation of an adult entertainment facility in the
county it is fair to say that any business man would have equal opportunity to
commercial property that is within the boundaries that the law requires.
Unfortunately to better suit the growing nature of society residential areas expand
quickly and sometimes without regard to these businesses that were founded legally.
Should these business be forced to move because the residence moved closer to

the adult entertainment facilities of Times Square, New York were forced to shut
9. Tone Of One Perfect Rose
At first glance the poem One Perfect Rose may seem like a poem about love and
romance, but further analysis shows the opposite. The first two stanzas of the poem
can be misleading, as they lead one to believe that it s a romantic moment to a past
memory. However, with the poems sudden change in tone, the third stanza takes on
more of a cynical view. You hear the dissatisfaction in the speaker s tone, as she
wants more. The title conveys irony, as it shows that the roseis anything but perfect.
In a way the poem seems to describe Parkers feelings about life, even though she
had a lot going for her she just wasn t satisfied. Because of the shift in tone, the
poems entire meaning goes from sweet to a bitter recount. The first opening line of...

She wants more than a rose, when she states. Why is it no one ever sent me yet one
perfect limousine do you suppose? The word limousine implies that she maybe
materialistic. Upon this, as the reader, one has to understand the context in which
the poem was written in. It was written in 1937 when the Great Depression
occurred. Because Parker faced many financial uncertainties, all she really wanted
was to be sure she was financially stable. The phrase one perfect rose is repeated
throughout stanza 1 and stanza 2, thus making it a refrain. On the other hand, the
mocking repetition of one perfect indicates the underlining attitude of the speaker
in the last stanza. Suddenly the phrase one perfect rose becomes disrupted when
the speaker desires one perfect limousine. Moreover, the tone suddenly changes
when she states, do you suppose? . The question is implied to the reader as the
poem takes on more of a conversational tone. The poem suddenly takes on more of a
sarcastic tone, as a lot of Dorothy Parkers poem are really known for. They are
known for their witty remarks and irony. Line 11 and 12 states, Ah no, it s always just
my luck to get one perfect rose. The fact that she states ah no signifies
disappointment, but it also becomes more conversational instead of formal. In line 11
the word, just my luck actually means that something unfortunate
10. Simplicissimus Analysis
In Grimmelshausen s novel, Simplicissimus, the protagonist of the same name takes
on a much different position than seen in other picaresque novels. Simplicissimus
becomes a master, employing his own servants and gains a legitimate position in
society. In the novel Lazarillo de Tormes the protagonist is always serving someone
else s interests. Lazarillo never has complete autonomy and must rely on others for
employment and to further his social status. Simplicissimus does not fit this
picaresque element when he becomes the Huntsman, becomes a member of an
official court, and discovers his true noble birth. A person of high status in Soest

Compared to Simplicissimus, Lazarillo s highest ranking position is that of a city
employee, specifically the town crier. In this position, he is still reliant on businesses
and the city itself in order to provide for himself. Lazarillo also becomes reliant on
his friend the archbishop. By agreeing to marry the archbishop s maid Lazarillo hides
their affair and in return he receives a whole load of corn; I get my meat on
Christmas and Easter, and now and again a couple of votive loaves or a pair of old
stockings (Lazarillo 59). Lazarillo s reliance on others to provide for him is a key
feature of a picaresque novel, unlike Simplicissimus who is able to live quite well
on his own terms. Another way Simplicissimus differs from other picaros is that
due to his legitimate status he is able to employ servants for extended periods of
time. The most important are those he employs during his time as the Huntsman.
The first two servants he employs were as obedient as a pair of spaniels
(Grimmelshausen 203). The servants loyalty was due to the fact that Simplicissimus
always had plenty to eat and drink and plenty of booty for them (Grimmelshausen
203). Simplicissimus excess is a key difference from other picaros. He doesn t go
hungry, is able to spend money freely, and has such an excess he can routinely take
on help. This consistency continues as much later in

Greenhouse Gases
The Earth absorbs solar energy and most of this energy is later released as heat, or IR
radiation.
Most of the gas molecules in the atmosphere are not able to absorb this energy and it
passes through and out into space.
Carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and certain other gases
absorb IR radiation from the Earth s surface and re emit it in all directions. These
gases act like the glass in a greenhouse to increase the temperature of the planet.
IR Absorption
The homonuclear diatomic molecules that make up the bulk of the atmosphere (N2

17. Christmas Music In Christmas
A lot of people look forward to Christmas season, especially retailers because sales
gets a boost. It is the reason why a lot of shopping malls air Christmas songs ahead of
the Yuletide season.
However, a psychologist warned that hearing too much of the year end holiday
melodies could be bad for mental health. Linda Blair, a clinical psychologist,
explained that listening to too many carols makes people feel trapped. It is a constant
reminder to purchase gifts, cook holiday meals, and organize Christmas parties, the
Daily Mail reported.
Kaching of Christmas
But for those in the retail business, it is the time when the cash register keeps on
ringing which is why department store and shopping mall operators start airing
Christmas songs weeks ahead of December 25. As a result of the constant exposure
to carols ahead of the year end holiday, 61 percent of people suffer from stress during
the Yuletide, the American Psychiatric Association said.
Because music bypasses rationality, it goes straight to people s emotions, Blair
pointed out. It involves several brain areas that induce emotions and involve reflexes,
conditioning, visual imagery, expectancy, memory, and emotional contagion.
If played too loudly, Christmas music would likely irritate people. For shoppers, it
would use the energy of mall goers trying not to hear the carols, Blair said. Retail
workers need to tune out the Christmas music, she said; otherwise, it will stop them
from being able to focus on anything else.
18. Immigration As An Ethical Issue
IMMIGRATION AS AN ETHICAL ISSUE
2
Immigration as an ethical dilemma has attracted decades of debate. It is an ethical
issue that has not found a solution, and it does not appear that it will find one soon.
Immigration debates may look interesting but the two antagonistic groups: those who
support immigrant and those who oppose them seem to score equally with no
solution (Kourtsounis, 2014). The groups that oppose immigration have strongly
accused the government for allowing its borders to remain porous to illegal guests.
These groups have strongly indicated that, both legal and illegal immigrants are a
threat to American citizens. On the other hand, even though there is no one who is
advocating for immigration directly, the groups that support immigration urge the
Federal and local governments to develop policies that will legalize refugees who are
already seeking
American residents. These groups dwell on the fact that immigrants are also human
beings and that they are possibly looking to the Unites States in search for a safe
haven. They also emphasize that Americans have a sense of obligation through their
humanitarian philosophy, and so they cannot afford to lock them out, nor can they
afford to send back illegal children who are looking for safer place to live. Debaters
in this ethical dilemma both have genuine reasons why they support or oppose
immigration.
At the heart of immigration debate are the groups that oppose legal and illegal
migration

On Saturday, May 9th, the RIT Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra put on a
performance titled the Apotheosis of the Dance at the Allen Chapel within the
Schmitt Interfaith Center. The performance began with the RIT Chamber Orchestra,
featuring mostly stringed instruments, performing works of Mozart, Bach, and

composed by Beethoven. The majority of the concert was conducted by Michael E.
Ruhling, with the exception of a few pieces performed by the Chamber Orchestra
that did not require a conductor. The Orchestra consisted of string, woodwind, brass,
and percussion sections, and the Chamber Orchestra only had a string section with a
flute soloist. The concert began immediately with the Chamber Orchestra s
performance of Mozart s Divertimento in D major , K. 136. This piece consisted of
the 3 movements, Allegro, Andante, and Presto, which follows the fast slow fast
arrangement typical of the Classical era. Divertimento is one of Mozart s Salzburg
symphonies, which are symphonies performed by only string sections. After the
performance of this piece, the conductor commented on the 2nd violins part, and drew
the conclusion that Mozart must have saved that role for either himself or an
enemy. The second piece performed by the Chamber Orchestra was Bach s Suite
No. 2 in B minor , BWV 1067. This piece did not require a conductor, and also
featured a flute soloist, Maisa Peters. Their

3. What are the particular challenges and dilemmas in managing relationships with
those who have different cultural backgrounds and working styles from yours? How
do you, personally, deal with such differences?
I personally take pride in my ability to work in a multi cultural environment; this
ability did not come overnight or without learning by mistake. I spent 21 years in the
U.S. Navy working with many cultures. I moved to Hawaii in 1982 and that is
where my ability to understand and work together with different cultures was
developed. I normally do not believe in stereotypes but found that military personnel
and families stationed in Hawaii either love it or hate it here, there is very little
middle ground. For the ones who hate it in Hawaii I seem to always see a common
thread between them. They come to Hawaii from one of many cultures on the
mainland and think that the people here should conform to their culture and lifestyle,
when this does not

23. Prohibition Negative Effects
Prohibition was the nationwide ban of making, transporting, selling, and buying
alcoholic drinks from 1920 to 1933 in the United States. Because of this ban many
people turned to illegal activity to satisfy their alcoholic temptations. So the real
question to ask is, did Prohibition have a positive or a negative effect on our
country? There are many ways that Prohibition had negative a effect on our country.
Research shows that prohibition caused many people to become criminals, lose their
jobs, businesses to shut down, and caused the government to lose significant amount
of tax money. When the law first went into effect, people thought sales of clothing
and household goods would go up dramatically. Real estate developers and landlords
expected rents to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the ban distilleries, breweries, and saloons had to close down. Not only did
distributors lose their jobs but craftsmen like barrel makers, truckers, and others as
well. One of the most negative effects of prohibition was the loss of revenue for
the government. Many American states relied on the tax of liquor sales to fund
their budgets. For example almost 75% of New York`s state revenue came from
liquor sales. With the new prohibition law the Federal Government lost an estimated
total of $11 billion dollars, while costing them another $300 million to enforce it.
Now the government would have to rely on federal income tax to fund budgets
moving ahead. Prohibition also has had many direct impacts on the American
citizens. Many police officers and prohibition agents frequently were tempted by
bribes or the opportunity to go into bootlegging. Many stayed honest, but many also
gave in. With alcohol now being illegal, the growth of the illegal liquor trade under
Prohibition made criminals of millions of Americans. One of the legal exceptions to
the Prohibition law was that pharmacists were allowed to distribute whiskey by
prescription for many

26. The Quality Of Language Input And Early Onset Effects
On...
The two previous studies exemplify that the quality of language input and early
onset has significant effects on linguistic and sub linguistic mechanisms. It calls
into question whether input quality is predictive of later sign language skills in
deaf education program settings. In spoken languages, the quality and quantity of
language input is predictive of a child s later linguistic abilities (Cartmill et al.,
2013). However, most deaf children entering education have hearing parents,
creating a barrier to language development. Many deaf programs support bilingual
philosophies in which the basis of English is also taught in order to facilitate
communication between the deaf and non deaf communities (Murphy Swiller,
2014). Leah Nicole Murphy Swiller (2014) investigates input quality within deaf
education settings using American Sign Language (ASL). She hypothesizes that
deaf participants learning language through slightly different modalities will differ
in their ASL receptive skills and their comprehension of English grammar
knowledge, even after educational instruction. This is done by comparing
approximately one hundred and forty nine 4 and 5 year old deaf children at
schools in 26 states across the United States of America. The deaf children are
divided into three groups: those with ASL as their first language (L1), English as
their L1, and those who spoke a sign supported English. These groups are compared
to a control group of same aged hearing peers. All children

32. Cosmological Argument From Motion
To begin, we start with an a posteriori argument, or an argument from experience.
Arguments from experiences of the world to the existence of God are called
cosmological arguments. This particular argument is the argument from motion.
Argument from Motion: P1. Some things are moved. P2. If something is moved to
being F, then it is potentially but not actually F. P3. If something moves a thing to
be F, then it (the mover) is in a state of actuality relevant to F. C1. If something
were to move itself to be F (e.g., be both moved and its own mover), then it would be
both potentially but not actually F and also in a state of actuality relevant to F
(conjunction, modus ponens, P1 3). P4. But it is not possible for something to be

I will leave it to con to find any objections to this argument; however, I will respond
to one preemptive problem that may seemingly arise. The issue comes from a
seeming contradiction between Newton s law of inertial motion, or Newton s first
law of motion, and the Aristotelian definition of motion on which the argument
above rests. The problem may be resolved in two ways. Firstly, to assert that there
is a contradiction is to equivocate between two different definitions of the word
motion. Newton s account of motion is only concerned with local motion (motion
or change in terms of place or location), while the Aristotelian is concerned with
change of every sort (quality, quantity, substance, accident, etc.). Secondly, there is
no formal contradiction. As the Thomist philosopher Edward Feser says: Suppose
that motion is being used in the two principles in the same sense. Even given this
assumption, there is no formal contradiction between them. Newton s law tells us
that a body will in fact continue its uniform rectilinear motion if it is moving at all,
as long as external forces do not prevent this. It does not tell us why it will do so.
In particular, it does not tell us one way or the other whether there is a mover of
some sort which ensures that an object obeys the First Law, and which is in that
sense responsible for its

There is no specific word that can definitely define metaparadigm. According to
Alimohammadi, Taleghani, Mohammadi, and Akbarian (2014), the metaparadigm

limited structures such as focused theorization can develop. A metaparadigm has a
general concept that embarrasses the entire concept of nursing care. Nursing is a field
is based on theory, judgment, analysis, critical thing, and apply concept. The
principle discipline of nursing practice is to promote patient s well being through
therapeutic nursing interventions, and also it is the creative use of knowledge in
human care. In unit 2, the concept of nursing that I had chosen was the holistic
nursing care. The holistic nursing care is the art and science. It encompasses health
care by the values of human freedom, choice, and responsibility. Four metaparadigm
concepts (person, health, nursing, and environment) can be related to the concept
holistic nursing care because the goal of holistic care nurse is to identify the
underlying cause that may cause an impact in patient health. According to Klebanoff

The Industrial Revolution was period of rapid economic and social growth during
the mid 18th and early 19th centuries. The new found power of coal and iron made
for many new innovations in machinery. Not all of the Industrial Revolution s
changes were physical. A new ideology arose from the sweat of the working class:
socialism. Socialism is a political theory advocating state or collective ownership of
property and industry opposed to private ownership. To fully understand the

Passion can be described as a certain topic that lights a fire in your heart. I can

music. But if I had to give it up for my family to live a happy and healthy life I

The availability heuristic is the tendency to consider events more common than
they really are if they come to mind quickly or easily (Croskerry, 2002). Though the
recency of seeing a disorder does not increase the base rate of its occurrence, faulty
cognitions result in providers thinking this way. This bias appeared in a study
exploring how likely a doctor was to say that a patient had bacteremia. In this
study, the doctors judged this disease as much more probable if they had recent
experience treating it, despite the base rate of infection being the same in either
case. What first came to mind was not necessarily most accurate, but most salient
(Klein, 2005). Particularly affected are specialized practices. Because a provider
sees a specific disorder frequently, it is commonly most salient and more likely to
lead to the availability bias. This heuristics poses a particular threat in ambiguous
cases; the diagnosis received may depend solely on which provider evaluated the
