years, is whether video games make kids violent or not. While there have been

The Worst Hard Time Egan, Timothy The Worst Hard Time was published by
Houghton Mifflin Company in the U.S. Copyright Timothy Egan in 2006. The
Worst Hard Time takes place during the Great Depression of the U.S. in the 20 s
and 30 s. It tells the story of several different people and groups of people during
this tough time in American history, at times comparing it to before and after the
time frame of the Depression. I chose this book because it shows the story of
people not only facing the economic decline, but also have been betrayed by the
Earth itself in the form of dusters . Not only are people suffering from poverty, an

For example, on page 36, there is a photo of a family alongside their house. The
photo is relevant to the topic of discussion in that chapter and can give a visual to
the conditions of each average household during America s Great Depression. From
this photo alone, without much of any context, you could analyze that the average
household for a family is one to two rooms, and money is scarce even among the
wealthy. Personally, I think the visuals are useful for further understanding the story
and gaining an image of what the average life was

analogy. In the first line of the poem he uses the possessive adjective, My
townspeople, to refer to his patients as his and his to take care of. He then
continues to reference the people as [whining] about him calling! Calling! this
decision that voices the attachment and desperation that he feels when he knows
someone needs him can be related to his everyday life and is an example of his use
of realism. He writes how he answers these calls as loud as I can, refering to the

the townspeople. In his second stanza he refers to the point that as a doctor he

This report has been conducted on the East Asia region based on the information
provided by the universities of Kansas State and Massey. The focus of this report is
to identify and describe important characteristics, issues and trends of the region from
an agricultural perspective. To provide an introduction and insight first a brief
summary of East Asiawill be provided.
East Asia includes approximately 15 countries, within this there is a population of
1.974 billion people. Of the total population 51% live within rural areas resulting
in agriculture making up 11% of GDP, which is considerably more than the likes of
the US (1% of GDP). There is considerable diversity between countries within East
Asia. There are major differences between country s GDP per capita and economic
development, resulting in distinctive high, middle and low per capita GDP groups
as shown in figure 1. New Zealand in comparison would be in the high per capita
group with a GDP of $36,200. The East Asia countries in which agriculture makes
up largest proportion of their GDP are within the lower to middle GDP band and are
Vietnam with 22%, Indonesia with 15% and Thailand with 12%. Whereas in
comparison to the likes of Japan who has the highest GDP per capita within the
region, agriculture only represents 1%. It can also be seen that the risk of investment
increases in East Asia as incomes reduce and that the middle income countries have

The discovery of the DNA double helix is known to be accredited to James Watson
and Francis Crick. Watson describes the events that led up to the discovery in his
book The Double Helix. Although they both have put in a significant amount of time
and work to find the structure of DNA, one individual who was key to putting their
pieces together was Rosalind Franklin. Considering Franklin s efforts and
contributions to the X ray diffraction images of DNA, which have helped Watson and
Crick with their model building and discovery of the DNA double helix, Watson
fails to give credit where credit is due.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Watson s book because it showed the way in which
Watson perceived his journey in how he came to discover the DNA structure.
