The Effect Of Water Hardness On Our Health
Introduction Water hardness is an ongoing problem across the globe. While not detrimental to our
health, there are many issues that arise from having hard water in households. You may be
asking, what is hard water? Isn t it all liquid? The hardness of water actually refers to the presence
of divalent cations, or ions with a +2 charge. In drinking water, these are most commonly Ca2+ and
Mg2+ ions ( Water Hardness). Water hardness can cause a buildup of minerals on surfaces such as
dishes, sinks, showers and pipes. While the aesthetic problems are not that important, the buildup
in the pipes can be very harmful. The scale that builds up causes utility bills to increase because
more energy is required to deliver water to its final... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The water will turn to blue when you reach this point. Once you find how many drops of EDTA
it took, you can calculate the concentration of calcium and magnesium in the water, as seen in the
results section. EDTA is not always precise since the turning point will often lie between drops,
which can result in a large margin of error, especially for small samples. For a more accurate test,
we turn to AA, or Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry. This water hardness test uses a machine
to aspirate the water sample. This gas then is burned in a flame, and a light of a range of
wavelengths is passed through it. The machine then calculates the amount of divalent cations in the
water by comparing the relative levels of light passed through the sample at each wavelength to
known atomic absorption levels. You then use a trend line from known samples readings, to figure
out what the concentration of calcium or magnesium there is. These two different tests are both
used in this lab so that we can be assured we ve done them right. The hardness of one test should be
similar to the hardness obtained from the other. Using these tests, we created a hypothesis to test.
Our group was testing which part of Pennsylvania has the highest mineral content and hardness
of their water. Our samples came from a Pittsburgh well (694 Forbes Rd. New Castle PA 16101),

The Causes And Impacts Of The International Space Station
The International Space Station commonly known as the (ISS) is a large spacecraft that orbits
around Earth. This space station serves as a home for the crews of astronauts and cosmonauts. The
space station is also a unique science laboratory. Several nations such as Canada, Japan, the Russian
Federation, the United States, and eleven Member States of the European Space Agency(Belgium,
Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the
United Kingdom) worked together to build and use this space station. The space station is made of
parts that were assembled by astronauts, in space itself. NASAis using this space station to learn
more about the living and working conditions in space. These discoveries will help make it
possible for them to find out if it is feasible to send humans farther into space than ever done in the
past.
Political:
The International Space Station was first considered in the waning years of the Cold War. A space
station called Mir was prepared to be launched by the Soviet Union, which went into orbit in 1986.
The United States wanted to match its rival.During his 1984 State of the Union address, President
Ronald Regan announced his plans for a U.S led project. Russia was invited to join the space
station by the United States when they decided to expand their international partnership, after the
collapse of the Soviet Union in 1993. Eugene Skolnikoff, professor emeritus of political science at

Dapsone And T-Cell Response Lab Report
Dapsone and T cell Response
Like most sulphonamides, dapsone can lead to a hypersensitivity reaction that is likely cell
mediated (type IV hypersensitivity reaction). T cells are indicated because of the time delay from
beginning therapy to the time of disease, approximately 4 weeks. The mechanism of T cell
response to dapsone is unknown and three mechanisms are postulated. According to the hapten
model, a small inert molecule could illicit an immune response by first covalently binding directly
to an intra or extra cellular protein. Where the native protein would likely be recognized as self and
be ignored by the immune system the protein adduct could stimulate a T cell response. This is the
mechanism of the delayed hypersensitivity reactions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alternatively, the pro hapten model asserts that nonreactive molecules can be metabolized
intracellularly and the metabolites then bind to host proteins, modifying them. Again, when
presented to the T cell receptor they are recognized as abnormal and the T cell becomes activated to
illicit an immune response. This response is seen in reactions with sulfamethoxazole and other
drugs (Adam et al, 2011). Finally, in the pharmacological interactions of drugs with immune
receptors concept, or p I model, an inert molecule interacts directly with the antigen presenting cell
at the major histocompatibility complex. These alterations are sufficient to interact with the T cell
Receptor and induce a response. The p i model is the most likely candidate for dapsone as there is a
21 fold increased risk associated with HLA*B13:01, a common MHC in South East Asia and

In Order To Speak To The Issue Of The Proposed Federal
In order to speak to the issue of the proposed federal budget of 2018, I feel I must make certain
disclosures. I am a theatre artist and emerging scholar. I have and stand to continue to benefit
from the NEA. However, as a scholar and artist, I hold the ability to criticize systems which do
and do not apply to me as essential to rational discourse. On that note, I also wish to clarify my
audience of this essay. Artists have been bogged down fighting against the government with issues
of censorship and simply fighting to keep the NEA alive instead of making space to think
critically about the NEA. For that reason, I speak to other artists with this paper and ask those who
do not identify as artists to read this only as observers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the NEA may not take donations from private patrons in grant giving, nearly every theatre
in the country that receives a direct grant from the NEA also receives private donations in order to
operate, as well as local and state arts agencies which act independently of the federal government (
Frequently Asked Questions. 2). In 2014, NEA Direct Grants supported approximately 30,000 live
performance events and 3,000 exhibitions ( Fast Fact about the National... 1). From the National
Assembly of State Arts Agencies, In combination with approximately $360 million in state
appropriations, the federal state partnership supports more than 23,000 grants in 5,000 communities
across the United States, (1).
As stated before, the NEA maintains partnerships with every state arts agency and regional arts
agency in all 435 congressional districts. This speaks to not only the successful diplomacy and
lobbying for arts by the NEA but also the nature of collaboration within art that we artists cherish.
Ethically speaking, removed from economics, the message sent by federal government and artists
who support the move to abolish the NEA in many ways disrespects and devalues that
collaborative spirit and success. Placed back into economic context, this collaboration also ensures
that an abolition of the NEA would be felt by each and every congressional district in the United
States ending decades of successful

A Trip to the Genetic Counselor
Part 1 Pedigree Construction
Greg and Olga were both a little worried. Starting a family presented choices and responsibilities far
more long reaching and complex than anything either of them had encountered before, and sitting
here in the reception area of the genetic counselor s office they were beginning to feel the pressure.

unaffected) and they had two children, neither of whom showed any sign of any disease. Their boy
is still single but their girl got married, to a normal man, and had a son, who has hemophilia A.
Meeting with the Genetic Counselor
Good afternoon said the woman rising to greet them, I m Dr. Ciletti. It s good to finally meet you
in person.
Nice to finally put a face to the voice. I m Greg and this is my wife Olga.
Nice to meet you, Olga said, taking a seat across the desk from Dr. Ciletti. This whole having kids
thing is more nerve wracking when you really start to think about it.
You re doing exactly the right thing. There is no sense in worrying about things unless you have
to. Maybe I can set your mind at ease a little bit. To begin with, I know that you re both concerned
about factor viii deficiency and myotonic dystrophy because of the family history. Is there anything
else that you d like to know?
Well, began Olga, the fact that we both have these diseases in our family and there is a chance
that we could pass them on to our children has opened our eyes a little bit, but we d also like to
know if you can predict other diseases that don t run in our family. Like my best

Heterogeneous Limitations
Researchers concluded that there were heterogeneous limitations incorporated in this study. First,
sampling was limited to specific jurisdictions served by one probation office. As a result, there
was a lack of generalizability among the data and п¬Ѓndings. Given the community background of
the sample, it was indefinite whether the results were generalizable to other areas and probation
offices. Similarly, the limited sampling jurisdiction restricted the ability to collect comprehensive
neighborhood data. Secondly, although this evaluation procured a randomized treatment design, the
inability to implement the Decide Your Time system as a mechanism for randomizing cases without
requiring probationers consent delayed the data collection. As a result, limited information
(theoretically significant variables) was collected on clients educational background,
socioeconomic status, rapport with their Probation Officers, severity of drug use, and prior
participation in drug treatment, living arrangements, and personal relationships. This data would
have permitted a more robust analysis, and future researchers should... Show more content on

Models that match services and programs based on an offender s risk and needs were
specifically recognized and addressed the heterogeneity of the offender population in
developing supervision and service plans. This approach was built on the Risk Need Responsively

skills to improve the quality of relationships between offenders and officers, both of which
improved offender outcomes. The п¬Ѓndings of this study suggest that a supervision model that
commingled close monitoring with therapeutic approaches (treatment and employment) was more
effective than simply relying on swift and certain sanctioning

For some people it may not seem bad to drink a coke while we eat: but in a day theirs three
meals, and if you times three time seven you will get twenty one cokes in a week. Twenty one
coke in a week, that s too much! As a result of drinking too much coke makes me more obsessed
and helps promote diabetes.
My second bad health habit is lack of drinking water. Doctor Howard Flaks mentioned that for a
healthy person the minimum of water they should consumed is eight to ten cups of water. It is sad
to admit that I don t even drink three cups of water. With this nonsense of mine, I am just harming
myself. The lack of water contributes to having more frequent headache, joint ache, and dryness of
eyes.
Getting a certain amount of sunlight is good for your health, but when you get too much hours of
sunlight it stops being so health for you. For my third bad health habit is that I spend too much
time outside with direct sunlight and no sun cream nor protection. Is my passion being outside
especially in the summer, I can spend hours and hours outside without even noticing it. The sad
part is that I am allergic to direct run light; if I spend about an hour outside with direct run light I
will start to get this type black spots in body. I have special medications and creams that I have use,
but the problem is that I always forget about them.

My Reflection Of Computers
I am currently enrolled in Calculus and I am feeling overwhelmed because just the year before I
had only taken Algebra II so a jump from Algebra to Calculus is pretty big because I skipped
Trigonometry and Precalculus. I felt overwhelmed so I saw this choice on the Application

graduating and going to New Mexico Tech.
I had a C in calculus when I chose to get my tutor to help me with test corrections and a few
homework assignments that were worth a lot of points. Alyssa my tutor really helped me
understand what I did wrong on my test and with the corrections she had me do I was able to
bring my grade from a C to a B. The test had me deal with limits of functions and before I really
didn t understand on the first question I was very close to the correct answer but I factored
incorrectly and on the second question I remembered a vital rule in limits which is 1 divided by
an X to a power is 0. The next question had me deal with graphing functions within a function and
that confused me quite a lot and after getting tutored these functions make sense to me and I can
graph them as easy as a normal function, but we also had to evaluate if the limits exist and if they
do exist where they are on the graph and that was very confusing to me because I did not know

fear because they do not know where and when the next plot is scheduled for, and wondering
where they can have perfect peace in the nation. America had seen many attacks in the Church, in
the schools with schools, in the shopping mall. Statistically, there is no really safe place to be in

many deadly attacks America has had, killing innocent souls. Since the mass attack of
September11, 2001, and the killing of the Al Qaeda head, Bin Laden, the world has seen a rapid
growth number of terrorists carrying attacks, and targeting America. Although lawmakers have

The Factors Of Christianity And Christianity In The Roman...
Christianity did not spread very quickly initially, but in the 2nd century it spread like a wildfire.
The spread of the religion was rapid and was due to many factors. Christianity spread due to its
universality, its familiarity to the Roman people, and the fact that it gave people hope. Christianity
gave something to the people of the Roman Empirethat they had never experienced before.
Although Jesus was dead, his teachings were still very much alive and thriving within his followers.
This is evident in Christianitys expansion throughout the Roman Empire.
Christianity was a religion for everyone, where no one was excluded. Throughout the Roman
Empire, many mystery cults existed. Unlike Christianity, many of these religions were exclusive
to only men or women, keeping some people out while including the others. Mithraism was one
that was only open to men, while the cult of Isis was a religion exclusive to women. Christianity
was completely inclusive. It was for the rich, the poor, the slaves, the men, and the women. A
peasant had just as much place in Christianity as an aristocrat. Spiritual equality was a reality in
Christianity. It had previously been believed that only Jewish people could join Christianity, but
Paul of Tarsus changed that by sharing his beliefs. Paul of Tarsus, also called the second founder of
Christianity, believed that gentiles should be given the opportunity to be a part of Christianity too.

Why Building Administrations Have A Developing Business...
Building administrations have been a developing business for a considerable length of time,
energized by the expanding many sided quality of electronic vehicle frameworks, for example,
motor administration, security framework programming, and some more. The business sector
progression were further pushed by the propensity of vehicle producers to expand the obligation of
their suppliers. It has been and keeps on being essentially the stringent discharges enactment that
has brought building prerequisites up in Europe as far back as the mid 90s when the primary Euro
outflows standard produced results in 1993 (Euro 1). Amid the same time frame, it has been a
developing supplier and OEM test to guarantee that another vehicle meets the current standarВd.
While it was entirely reasonable to legitimize the developing designing endeavors for huge
arrangement generation vehicle extends, the circumstance was rapidly breaking down for the
creators of specialty models subsequent to the mid 90s. Says Bernhard Bihr, Managing Director of
Bosch Engineering GmbH: Corner model OEMs dependably had a rational comprehension of the
assets that could go into adjusting arrangement auto items for their vehicles. In any case, with
discharges enactment getting harder and rivalry getting harder, they understood that they required
more parameters and capacities to be tweaked for their make. Minor homologation was not
adequate any more. At the point when Bosch Engineering was established in 1999

Analysis Of Disney s If Disney Ran Your Hospital Essay
When I just looked at the title of this book If Disney Ran Your Hospital 9 1/2 Things You Would
Do Differently , I was pretty skeptical. No way. A hospital is neither a fun place nor
entertainment. We deal with lives. Responsibility is huge. But, Mr. Fred Lee, the author of this
book, was very well aware of that. He hit every single point I wanted to argue. Going to read the
book, a lot of relevant memories came up in my mind since I had worked for a hospitalfor a long
time. I was convinced that Disney s approach to quality improvement is applicable to hospital
management. Out of 9 1/2 things, I would like to talk about three actions that left marks on me
with my experience: service vs. experience, rewards to motivate people and closing the gap
between knowing and doing.
The emergency department (ED) I worked for was a Level I Trauma Center, so patients were
transferred by ambulances, most of whom were in very severe conditions, such as cardio
pulmonary arrest, unconsciousness and multiple trauma. There was no room for patients to choose
a hospital. Roughly a third of patients coming to the emergency room (ER) died unfortunately. The
other third admitted to the intentional care unit (ICU), and the remains stayed at other wards in the
hospital or went back their home in a few days. In the ICU, the patients were laid on the beds that
were lined toward walls and separated on the side from their next patients with only roll curtains

Sustainability, as it pertains to the environment, seems like an idea that would appeal to everyone.
The idea of conserving what we have, reusing what we can, and developing new ways to more

our representatives in Washington D.C. have used environmentalism as a way to gain votes and

On that day some 20 million Americans throughout the country held peaceful demonstrations
favoring environmental reforms. The year ended with the creation of the Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) on December 2, 1970.The EPA is charged with establishing and enforcing
environmental protection standards, conducting environmental research, assisting others in
combating environmental pollution, and recommending new environmental protection policies to
the President (Lewis). The short Carter administration s energy policy highlighted funding for
solar energy and the continuation of Nixon policies. As the environmental decade came to close
and the Carter administration ended in 1981, the new President shifted attention and funding
elsewhere. The left praised Reagan for his environmental record as governor of California but
after entering the oval office Reagan quickly began undoing much of the environmental progress

The Machine Stops And Technology Today
Even though technology in The Machine Stops and technology today have many differences, many
characteristics are in common. The futuristic modern technology in The Machine Stops is very
dependable as well as modern day technology, except that in The Machine Stops everything is
machine generated. Most people today communicate on the cell phone or text messages.
Frequently, people may be contacted over video messages as well. In The Machine Stops the most
common way to communicate is by pictures or video messages with little face to face contact.
Technologyused in both case scenarios is very reliant for humans. For example, humans rely on
the internet to look up a question if we don t know the answer. In The Machine Stops , they often
did not have to ask questions because the technology already did it for them. In relation to the
story, they refer to when the machine stops as a technological death , which we can relate to the
same phrase in a way that if humans did not have the access to technological works, most of our
world would not be able to function. People would struggle with communication with their families,
difficulties to their jobs, and wouldn t be aware of what was happening in the world.
The novel The Machine Stops is a dystopian future in which humans do not have the ability to live
on the earth s surface. The humans then, lived underground in a bee hive like machine only having
access to artificial air and eating techno food. The

I propose that instead of killing the babies that the mother wants aborted, we kill the mothers
instead. When a mother comes into an abortion clinic she will get a surprise. Instead of killing the
baby, the clinic will try to save the baby if possible and just kill the mother. Besides

Evaluation: Technology Trends
There are a number of different avenues for marketing products, and choosing the right one to fit
the population is essential. One new marketing option that has become popular is online marketing;
because it is a new method the effectiveness in the market needs to be examined. Kudler Fine
Foods is launching fine wine sales in Brazil and China. The Miniwatts Marketing Group (2011)
website tracks Internet access of citizens of different countries, and in the United States 77.3% of
the population has Internet access. Brazil has 36.2%, and China that has 31.6% of the population
with Internet access. Online interactive marketing would reach a large market share within the
United States, but would reach only a small portion of the population in China and Brazil. The
recommendation would be to look at other marketing options for those countries.
To reach customers in China and Brazil the best option would be direct marketing. Television
marketing is a form of direct marketing and although many may consider it an established form of
marketing, it still has potential to be used in new ways. One way to use television is to create
advertisements that make people start talking and thinking about the product. Another form of
direct marketing is direct mail marketing. Kudler can obtain a list of potential customers and send
them flyers promoting the product and explaining why the customer should try it. Kudler can also
work with banks providing new

Crow Indian Tribe Research Paper
Crow Indians were one of the largest tribes, and they were very prosperous farmers. They had a
sum of 300 buffalo in their possession. The Crow Indian tribe had many different sacred beliefs
and items, and they are still living up to this day. The Crow Indian folklore stories are similar to
those of the Mandan and Hidatsa tribes. Some of the most influential mythological beings in their
culture include Old Man Coyote, Nirumbee, and Greasy Beast. In the Crow Indian tribe culture,
the coyote plays the role of both a wise creator, and a reckless adventurous. Some versions of Old
Man Coyote include two coyotes, one wise creator and one adventurous rebel who usually gets into

All of their clothing would be made from animal hide, mostly the buffalo. The buffalo was very
important to them because they were so large, and every part of their body had many different
uses. They would use the bones for breastplates, tools, and the horns would be used for helmets.
Their clothing would often be decorated with porcupine quills, beadwork, and feathers. Their
homes were large teepees that were made to hold many family members, and they had a hole near
the top that acted as a ventilation system for their chimneys. Crow people were good fighters, and
they had many different kinds of weapons. Women were not part of the Crow army. Young boys
were trained their entire lives to hunt and fight , by their fathers. Young girls would stay home and
help their mothers with housework, such as making soap, making clothing, cooking, and gathering.
In their culture, the women would keep their hair short, however the men s hair would often be up
to their wastes. Females were treated almost as equals in the Crow Indian Culture. Women would
often play important figures within their tribal community. Also, when two people got married, the
groom would move in with the woman s family instead of the other way around. Women could
even be the chief. They would also hold a sacred sun dance annually. Their sun dances would

The WTO Secretariat report, along with a policy statement by the Government of Bangladesh,
will serve as a basis for the trade policy review of Bangladesh that will take place on 2 and 4 May
2000 in the Trade Policy Review Body of the WTO. The report also notes that in the face of
severe political difficulties and civil unrest, the government of Bangladesh seems to have lost its
impetus for structural reforms. Moreover, devastating floods, combined with infrastructural
failings such as power shortages, inadequate port facilities and insufficient energy supplies, led to
a sharp drop in export growth from 17.1% in 1997/98 to 2.9% in 1998/99. The report says that
textiles, and particularly clothing, have dominated Bangladesh s exports, with their combined share
growing from 70.4% in 1992 to 83.5% in 1998. These exports have been a principal source of
Bangladesh s economic growth in the 1990s. The exports are destined mostly for the U.S. and
European Union markets, to which Bangladesh has privileged access. The report notes that such
heavy dependence on a limited number of products makes the Bangladesh economy vulnerable to
increased competition from other Asian countries that produce labour intensive garments, as these
countries recover from the recent economic crisis with substantially depreciated currencies.
Moreover, the phasing out of preferential access to these

Tbi Traumatic Brain Injury
TBI termed as Traumatic Brain Injury is an intracranial injury that often occurs when an external
force is applied to the brain. TBI survivors encounter changes in cognition, sensorimotor function
and personality. Incidents caused by rapid change in acceleration, blast waves, crush or penetration
by a projectile. This could result in temporary or permanent impairment of cognitive, physical and
psychological functions. In TBI, the primary injury is an external force, that induces mechanical
tissue deformation, resulting in necrotic cell death, shearing and tearing of the vessels, neurons,
glial and initiation of secondary injury. A primary injury would basically result in the immediate
rupture of the braintissue. A secondary injury involves... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In FPI models, a fluid pressure pulse is generated by a pendulum striking the piston of a reservoir
of fluid through a craniotomy. This is done either around the midline between bregma and
lambda or laterally over the parietal bone between bregma and lambda. FPI models replicate TBI
without a skull fracture. FPI models can be classified into two models parasagittal models (3.5 mm
lateral to midline). The lateral FPI (LFPI) model is widely used in animal models. a LPFI model
creates a combination of focal cortical contusion and diffuse sub cortical neuronal injury. LFPI
produces neurobehavioral and cognitive deficits (such as difficulties with movement and memory)
that are commonly seen in patients with TBI [50,51]. The Controlled cortical impact injury model
(CCI) comprises of a electromagnetic device to drive an impactor onto the target area, which is
usually, dura. This replicates the cortical tissue loss, acute subdural haematoma, axonal injury,
concussion, blood brain barrier (BBB) dysfunction and even coma [24,25,53,56,57]. An advantage
of this model over other models includes, ease in defining mechanical factors such as time, velocity,
and depth of impact. The next technique is Penetrating ballistic like brain injury (PBBI) which is a
result of high energy transmission of projectiles that leads to

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Analysis

However, while Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine Nine are both mockumentary styled

Despite both series having similar settings the editing is strikingly different. In spite of Parks and

Tire pressure is important. If your tires aren t properly inflated, steering may be problematic and
fuel mileage may decrease. Similarly, overly inflated tires can also cause issues like blowouts or
punctures. And because big rigs are consistently exposed to different environments and surfaces, it
s smart to check tire pressure regularly particularly if there s a long journey on your agenda.
3. Brake performance is essential. Even the smallest sign of distress could spell trouble, so it s
important to address minor issues before they turn into something serious. Whether it s a squealing
noise, a vibrating sensation, or a lack of sensitivity to your touch, brake problems should never be
overlooked. Regular maintenance ensures that your brakes stay in great condition.
4. The more you drive, the more your rig needs maintenance. Big rigs can be serviced as they cross
the threshold of certain mileage points, so that they re consistently kept in optimal condition for
your travels. From replacing oil filters to checking lights to inspecting the engine, no element is left
untouched during semi truck maintenance. It s vital to stick with a schedule that keeps your semi

The Pros And Cons Of The DREAM Act
About 400,000 illegal immigrants come to the United States each year, each one with their own
story and reasons. These illegal immigrants often have sorrowful stories that make you want to
sympathize with them, but these immigrants never think about how their presence affects the
United States. On September 5th, President Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced
the end of the DACA program; they contended that undocumented immigrants took economic
opportunities away from citizens and lawful permanent residents (DREAM). The DACA program
was created in 2012 by President Obama and allowed illegal immigrants to stay in the United
States. Recently, President Trump ended the program, but gave Congress a window to formulate a
better plan... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many proponents of the DREAM Act argue that these kids were brought to the United States before
they had a say in their life circumstances. Denying them hope and opportunity is punishment for an
act beyond their control (Fitz). Supporters of the DREAM Act continually advertise this argument;
They claim that the children are innocent, and the United States is treating these children unjustly,
but not rewarding them with legal residence and expensive college tuition subsidies is simply
withholding benefits to which they never had any entitlement in the first place (Mehlman). These
children are innocent, and deserve to be given an opportunity to come to the United States and have
a good education, but it should not be through the DREAM Act or illegal immigration. It is not un
American to prioritize United States citizens, and other immigrants waiting to enter the country
legally. A gross misconception is that DACA is only opposed by a radical few who want to hurt
innocent children and families, but a recent Quinnipiac University poll shows that Americans
across the political spectrum favor tougher enforcement of existing immigration laws over rolling
out the amnesty welcome wagon. (Malkin). Despite this poll, many patrons of the DREAM Act
think that continued amnesty is a right the United States is taking away, when in truth, the general
public supports tougher immigration law. The DREAM literally goes against popular opinion, as it
sponsors amnesty, and not harsher immigration

China s Engagement Into Multilateral Participation Essay
2Literature Review
In spite of the fact that China s engagement into multilateral participation in the South China Sea
dispute comes up with compositions on conflict management in this area by various researchers, so
far not very many endeavours have been made to clarify the explanations behind China s changing
state of mind towards multilateralism (Desjardins 2014). The current level headed discussions
essentially take after three lines of contentions. The three systemic theories incorporated in it are
realism, liberalism, and constructivism (Chang 2014). Talking into consideration these three
theories, the China s South China Sea approach from a particular point of view is projected below.
2.1Realism
Since 1919, there is a common emphasis on the realism in world politics and this has caused the
Realist Theory to become prominent for mostly all the matters of international relations as perceived
from Carr (2014). The realism has been continued to be part of international relations since this time
and it has still been under consideration with high dominance. The dominance of this theory was
provided after the cold war and then it remained in power. The main focus of realism theory in the
proposed study would remain in the delivery of the background study of the dispute that is a South
China Sea dispute, in accordance with its evolution, conflict management, and resolution
(Morgenthau 2014). This would help in understanding the nature acquired by the claimant nations

Dorothy L. Sayers Gaudy Night
When Gayle Wald wrote, Sayers s career writing detective stories effectively ends with Gaudy
Night (108), she did not present a new argument, but continued the tradition that Gaudy Night does
not center on the detective story. Barbara Harrison even labeled Dorothy Sayers s Lord Peter
/Harriet Vane books, Strong Poison, Gaudy Night, and Busman s Honeymoon, as deliriously happy
ending romances (66). The label stretches the definition of a romance, but Gaudy Night indeed has
very little to do with crime. Sayers encrypted the real story within her detective novel. This story

We usually think of crypts as graves or coded messages, similar to the letter in Have His
Carcasse. The notion of a crypt, however, contains a deeper psychological meaning. Crypts deal
with the ideas of introjection and incorporation. These concepts identify the alternative ways in
which the psyche handles trauma. When the psyche introjects a trauma, the trauma melds into
the subconscious. If the psyche successfully assimilates the trauma, it unites with the rest of the
psyche, much like a cube of ice (the trauma) melting in a glass of water (the psyche).
Incorporation occurs when trauma embeds itself into the psyche, but remains separate and,
therefore, separable. If we return to the idea of the psyche as a glass of water, incorporation
resembles what happens when a Ping Pong ball (the trauma) drops into a glass of water. The
ball remains a lump in the psyche. Jacques Derrida wrote about the crypt sealing the loss of the
object, but also marking the refusal to mourn . . . I pretend to keep the dead alive, intact, safe
(save) inside me, but it is only to refuse, in a necessarily equivocal way, to love the dead as a
living part of me, dead save in me, through the process of introjection, as happens in so called
normal mourning ( Foreword 17). The tomb stands then as an incorporation of the trauma of death.
We physically mark the place of rest as a mirror of our inability to assimilate that trauma

29 November, 2014 Overfishing of The Atlantic Bluefin Tuna

Abstract
The main purpose for this research is to explicit what effect humans have had and will have on the
blue fin tuna. The Atlantic bluefin tuna is one of the largest, fastest, and most gorgeously colored of
all the world s fishes. The blue fin tuna unfortunately however, has been facing a constant and
dramatic decline in their species. With overfishing, their numbers have dropped down to critically
low levels. It is said that throughout several years of overfishing, that the Bluefin Tuna has dropped
ninety seven percent. Bluefin tuna is one of nature s most successful ocean inhabitants. They e the

The bluefin population has declined at a steady rate for several years and despite some measures
being taken to manage the population in the Atlantic, it still remains to be excessively hunted. The
species is prized by both wealthy sushi consumers due to its rich, fatty flesh and by fishermen who
can sell a single catch for tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. Currently, this combination has
brought the species to the brink of extinction, with environmentalists claiming the species has no
chance to recover if existing fishing practices are allowed to continue. The issue of the declining
bluefin population is not simply the dismissal of catch limits, but also the ways in which fish are
caught. One of the most wasteful fishing techniques is the use of surface longlines. These lines
reach up to forty miles in length with baited hooks attached along the lines. The lines are deployed
in spawning areas where hundreds of bluefin are caught along with other non target species every
year. Conservationist groups have encouraged the National Marine Fisheries Service to ban the use
of longlines in the Gulf during spawning season to give stocks time to recover. In addition to
longlines, purse seining is another wasteful, yet commonly used, fishing technique. This involves

The first piece they played was the Sextet for Horns which was created by Gregory Kerkorian.
Kerkorian is an American composer who wrote works for orchestra, concert band, chamber music
and educational work ( Gregory Kerkorian ). This piece consisted of a brass instrument the horn.
The piece starts with a very dissonance sound. They were very loud and played on a major scale.
There was a lot of harmonic tension between musicians they couldn t stay on key. The timbre was
very brassy and harsh with a conjunct melody. The song seemed to have a larghetto tempo
sounding very slow and sad. The piece also has a low pitch throughout the entire song.
The next piece played by the horn ensemble was the Urlicht which was written by Gustav Mahler.
Mahler was an Austrian late Romantic composer, and one of the leading conductors of his
generation. He was born on July 7th, 1860 and died 1911. As a composer he acted as a bridge

The Internal Combustion Engine
1Introduction
Since the advent of the internal combustion engine nearly two centuries ago, humans have
become increasingly reliant on fuel to power these engines. Our only method, historically, for
obtaining this fuel is to probe the earth and oceans until crude oil is struck. Crude oil is termed a
fossil fuel as it takes hundreds of millions of years to form. Crude oil is extracted from a
geological reservoir and subsequently refined into the various fuels which we use at ever increasing
rates (petroleum, diesel, aviation fuel etc). Unfortunately we are not finding new oil deposits at
anything like the rates we are consuming, so logically we will eventually run out. Many of the
alternate energy sources currently available (electric engines, fuel cells and ethanol) have low
energy density and do not scale well to larger vehicles like aeroplanes and trucks. Therefore finding
new renewable sources of energy to power our current and future devices is paramount to our
continuation as a successful species.

Franklin s Tale And Great Expectations Essay
Whereas The Franklin s Tale begins with marriage, Great Expectations seems to end with one;
although whether these are truly happy marriages can be questioned. Towards the alternate ending
of Great Expectations Estella and Pip meet in the ruins of Satis House, symbolising their ruined
lives. Estella first shows signs of her emotions towards Pip when she says I have often thought of
you although this is purposeful by Dickens in order to maintain her emotionless personae. Pip
proceeds to reply with You have always held your place in my heart , again attempting to prove to
her that she has maintained his love throughout the years. Their complex relationship distinctly
contrasts with that of Arveragus and Dorigen s as there is much less chemistry and appreciation
between Pip and Estella that suggests they have never been in love with one another.... Show more

The only indication to the reader that there are feelings between Pip and Estella is as they grow
older Estella allows Pip to express physical affection through a kiss on the hand and cheek,
which she responds to particularly on page 229 in a cold manner. Pip describes her face as
calm...like a statue s indicating indifference towards his affection, which is because of, what critic
Michelle Ossa stated as She cannot be in love with him. She thinks of him as a brother, because
they grew up together. This, accompanied with Miss Havisham s strict upbringing and her lust for
revenge against the male sex, leaves Estella with no affection for Pip to influence her into marrying
him. However, the last line, I saw no shadow of another parting from her, indicates that Estella may
have never left Pip after this meeting and they ultimately ended up sharing their lives

Flint Water Crisis Case Study
The Flint water crisis began with the city officials decision to change their water source in an
attempt to save a significant amount of money. This switch from using Lake Huron as a water
source, to using the Flint River cascaded into a failure to adhere to federal environmental laws and
regulations and eventually the government s manipulation to hide the problem and inaction to fix
it. The city s largest technical and engineering related failures was their corruption of science by
not using corrosion control in the water and skewing testing data and procedures to ignore the
problem. After the water switch to the Flint River and water treatment plant in April of 2015, there
were growing concerns in the community that experienced signs of lead poisoning. Flint resident,
Leanne Walters grew scared for her children and began to do her own investigation into the quality

Even the EPA dismissed any concerns and labeled Del Toral a rogue employee . A team of
researchers led by professor Marc Edwards, ran tests on hundreds of homes in Flint reading
highly elevated levels of lead in water that far exceeded the maximum parts per billion of lead
allowed by the EPA and WHO. City officials discredited all tests run by civilians and Virginia Tech
and stated that their results did not match any of the clean results run by MDEQ (Michigan
Department of Environmental Quality). Further investigation showed MDEQ s testing protocols
allowed them to get biased data through pre cleaning of pipes and manipulative selection of sample
locations. This scientific failure to test for environmental hazards was the second major failure by
officials, which allowed this disaster to carry on much longer than necessary and could have
prevented the deaths of 12 Flint residents that died from Legionnaires disease and the countless
unknown effects done to other children and residents of

Refugees Of The Un Refugee Agency
Refugees. There are a large number of them, but what does that mean? Well, according to US
Citizen and Immigration Services, refugees are, people who have been persecuted or fear they
will be persecuted on account of race, religion, nationality, and/or membership in a particular
social group or political opinion. (USCIS, 2015) In other words, they are pushed out of their
country for fear of their lives. This then creates the issue of where they end up. According to the
UN RefugeeAgency, there are about 21.3 million known refugees worldwide. Of that 21.3
million, are 4.9 million that come from Syria. Also, the UNHCR notes that the top three hosting
countries are Turkey, Pakistan, and Lebanon (which as of 2015, had 183 refugees for every
1,000 residents). (UNHCR, 2016) However, the US, which has a huge expanse, is not on the list.
According to the Washington Post, the US has met its goal of granting asylum to 10,000 Syrians
in the past fiscal year, but that is still not a large number compared to other countries. Such as
Canada, which with a population barely a tenth the size of the United States , has resettled three
times more Syrian refugees since last fall. (The Washington Post, 2016). This issue of what to do
with refugees is looked at in the three articles that will be discussed in this paper.
The three sources that will be examined in this essay are the Syrian Refugees editorial cartoon by
Drew Sheneman, a blog labeled, Why We Are Failing Aleppo by Refugees

My first time been Las Vegas was on 2013, I was just 21. I lived in MGM Grand in Las Vegas Strip
.
MGM Grand is the biggest casino in Strip. I love MGM, it has green windows outside and very
huge lobby inside. The hotels were not expensive because they use the cheap hotel price to
attract more people to gamble in casinos. However, the room was roomy and clean. There were
more than six different restaurants in casinos. I tried international buffet, American Food and
Indian food in MGM. It was really convenient for me; I played the card games few hours, when I
felt hungry, I just call waiter to get some food and drinks. Besides all the gambling games, I
watched a magic show from David Copperfield in MGM. It was amazing that I just spent 90
dollars to sit in the first row to watch the show. I also went to other casino, which have big
shopping mall that I bought a lot of things there. Moreover, I still remember every time I walked
on the Strip, there were many different street arts such as small magic performance and imitation
shows. Crowed street, bright neon light and busy people were always the major themes in gambling
culture and in this city. In conclusion, casino is the most important form of gambling industry in
Las Vegas, and casino is an important city element. In my opinion, I enjoy playing card games,

The Pros And Cons Of Linux
In the beginning, Linus Torvalds, a young man who studied computer science at the University of
Helsinki, thought Unix like academic operating system should be available for free and is an open
source software.
Hence, he decided to do a better operating system which is free of charge and is an open source
software. The Linux kernel was first released in 1991, it is designed to be used with GNU
software. GNU developers eventually integrated their software into Linux to create an operating
system. Linux is everywhere so it is available in many forms to suit many needs where from
consumer oriented systems for home use to distributions for use in specific industries. For instance,
it is in our smartphone, our Roku devices and even in our refrigerator. ... Show more content on

Linux is a software on a computer that enables applications and the computer operator to access any
devices on the computer to perform its desired functions. To put it simply, Linux is an operating
system that enable to manage the communication between software and hardware. The operating

processor performs the instructed task, then send the results back to the application via the OS.
As we know, Linux is all free and easy to install. This zero cost of entry accompanied with an

freedom to study how the program works, the freedom of running a program, the freedom to
redistribute copies and also the freedom to distribute copies of the modified versions to the others.
Linux is said everywhere because it is powering roughly 94% of worldwide supercomputers, most

The Texas legislature performs a great number of functions, but one of the main functions is
lawmaking. Hundreds of bills are drafted but it is not easy for that bill to become law. Roughly
every two years, the legislature gathers to carry out laws about issues of allocating resources,
benefits, costs, and the behavior of state residents. Policies and proposals for constitutional
amendments are looked at ranging from small local issues to statewide issues. The state
legislature also plays a significant role in state finances through its power to tax. It has the power

Bring Your Own Device ( Byod )
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is referred to it by many names: bring your own danger, bring
your own disaster, bring your own detonator, but whatever the name, it is becoming more and
more commonplace in all sectors across the world. What used to be unthinkable, using one s
own personal mobile device or smartphone for work is now emerging as one of the biggest
technology trends of this decade. The idea of using a personal device at work developed when
many executives got their first Blackberries and iPhones back in the mid 2000 s and wanted access
to corporate resources from these devices such as email and the corporate intranet. Since then,
BYOD has transitioned from a trend to a major revolution of enterprise Information Technology (IT)

The issue is two fold, one being that IT departments have lost the ability to fully manage devices
that connect to the company s network, but also employees are now demanding that they have the
ability to conduct company business and have access to extremely secure company resources from
multiple personal devices. Obviously this hasn t gone over very well from the IT perspective.
Initially IT departments were very resistant to change taking into consideration the huge security
risk allowing these devices onto the network presents, however more and more departments are
beginning to adopt these new practices, but at the same time are still very hesitant because they
remained very concerned about the inherent risks of permitting personal devices to access and
store sensitive corporate data. The timeline outlined below gives an excellent graphical
representation of where BYOD started in the early 200 s and where it is and going now that it s
in its third wave and really finding its way as a mature solution in the enterprise. Mobile devices
are a mixed blessing for enterprises. CRN reported on a Poneman Institute, a IT security research
firm, found that 77 percent of corporate professionals who responded to the survey said that the use
of mobile devices in the workplace is important to achieving business objectives, but almost the
same percentage, 76 percent, believe that these tools present a serious set of security risks. While

Dante s Vengeance
The idea of one s station in life has always been debated throughout the times, whether it is in the
form of the Great Chain of Being during the classical period or the modern day debate of gene
therapy and its ethics. Alexandre Dumas was first exposed to the concept of trying to usurp the
natural order of things on the day his father died. He wrote in his memoirs that he wanted to kill
God, who killed Daddy (Reiss 13) which is an example of wanting to rise beyond one s position
and believing oneself to be more powerful than God. In the Count of Monte Cristo, the protagonist
Dantes was unjustly accused of treason and was imprisoned in Chateau d If. After befriending a
rich Italian abbe, who then bequeathed Dantes a vast fortune and escaping,... Show more content on

The literature he alludes to and the characters all follow a recurring theme of attempting to gain
supernatural power and disregarding the preexisting systems in favor of one s own. To begin,
Dumas alludes to the Shakespeare play Julius Caesar on the eve of the duel between Dantes and
Albert he states he experienced the same thing that happened to Brutus the night before the
battle of Philippi; [he] [had] seen a ghost. (Dumas 362). Furthermore, McDermott further
compares Dates to Brutus since like Brutus before Philippi, he says, he too on the eve of his
duel with Alben has seen a franconi, В· in the form of Mercedes (McDermott 94). Brutus in
Julius Caesar commits regicide by killing Julius Caesar in a misguided intention of doing what s
best for rome. Just like how Dantes chooses to reward and punish in a misguided intention of
righting past wrongs and repaying past debts, what ends up occurring is a series of events that are
caused by his own actions. This again shows arrogance on the parts of both parties. Brutus feels
that his view should be the view of all the Roman people and feels that because he views Caesar as
unfair he must take action without consulting any of his other people. Furthermore, he upsets the
Great Chain of Being by committing regicide, the people should be subservient to their leader but

begging to be paddled in the water. The red canoe was the one that caught my eye. So simple yet

Women And Courtship In The Taming Of The Shrew By William...
How would a modern audience view this play in a different way to an audience in Shakespeare s
time, particularly in relation to the role and status of women and attitudes to marriage and courtship?
Elizabethan society was created on the belief the woman had no right or control over their own
lives. Women had no choice in what their profession would be, as a matter of fact they weren t
allowed to have a profession such as medicine, politics and law. The only places they were allowed
to work were in domestic areas. This essay will be focusing on the taming of the shrew with the role
of status of women and attitudes towards marriage and courtship during the Elizabethan era. In
Elizabethan society, all that women were considered of was the lower end of men and the weaker
gender.
Women and men s role in Elizabethan society is completely different to modern society. The
Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeareshows exactly what the attitudes were like. For
example, the scene when Katherina is fighting with her sister because Bianca has a number of
suitors waiting for her but she refuses to tell Katherina which one she prefers. Katherina gets
angry and aggressive towards Bianca because she doesn t give her an answer, Katherina starts to
attack Bianca. Their father enters into the room and says For shame, thou hilding of a devilish
spirit! Why dost thou wrong her that did ne er wrong thee? When did she cross thee with a bitter
word? Baptista is expressing why Katherina would

The Principles and Practice of Moist Wound Healingg
The Principles and Practice of Moist Wound Healing
Abstract
Caring for patients with wounds is commonly encountered in a nurse s career in most health care
settings, whether it is in neonatal, mental health, community, or aged care. In the past, wound
dressings were created to absorb all exudate, believing that dry wounds will reduce the risk of
infection. Within the last fifty years, the concept of moist wound therapy has become the most
effective approach to wound care. Before treating any wound, it is important to discover the
underlying cause and consider other possible factors that may impact on the healing process and
deliver a systematic and rational approach towards wound care assessment. Nurses must have a

Describing the overall appearance of the wound is necessary to classify it (Brown amp;
Edwards, 200, p.223). Open wounds can be found in pressure ulcers that involve the skin
separating apart, whilst closed wounds the skin is held together mainly by sutures [FIGURE 1
page 3] (Dealey amp; Cameron, 2008, p.68). Identifying the aetiology correctly also determine if
the wound is either acute or chronic and what depth of the tissue is affected (Brown amp; Edwards,
2008, p.227).

Essay On Lobbyist And Advocate
Nurses do more than simply care for the ill, they promote health and wellbeing as well as
prevention of disease. In addition, nurses help mold policies, laws, and educate legislators about
society s needs. In my discussion I will define compare and contrast a lobbyists and advocate. I
will also discuss their importance and two nursing organizations that assist in changing healthcare
policies. A lobbyist is a person that represents a group of individuals or organizations that attempts
to influence legislators to make or oppose laws in favor of these groups (Nies McEwen, 2015).
Legislators rely heavy upon lobbyists to education them with accurate and current information on
the issues that are important in society today. Consequently, an advocate means to speak on
someone else s behalf or for them. Nurses advocate all the time in the best interest of their patients.

Allowing the nursing body to better make decisions and take the lead in policy making initiatives.
Through these initiatives this organization, is able to assist the nursing body in achieving the
core principles of nursing excellence (National League of Nurses, 2016). They rely on grassroots
advocates to raise the awareness of certain issues. As a grass root advocate, they influence
legislation and the society at large via way of general public, not lobbyists, to contact legislators in
attempt to make a change. In conclusion, both lobbyists and advocates are needed to change
policies that affect every person in regard to healthcare. Although both have the same intentions
their methods to arriving at the needed change are different. Although some nurses never realized
their importance in politics and become frustrated over the lack of progress or change, by realizing
that together we can make those changes for a better tomorrow

History Cuneiform
Writing has been common since times before the Common Era. Writing is the activity of marking
coherent words on paper and composing text. It can also be referred to as something typed on a
computer and published. Every language spoken has a coordinating written language. Several
alphabets have been produced and used, some of them are no longer used but we still study them
for historical purposes. Sentences are composed of strings of letters that make words and
punctuation that make up thoughts that we simply put on paper. Writingis also considered a form of
technology, not a language. Writing did not start as words in a book or lyrics to a song. It started
as drawings on cave walls, put there by cave men to describe something that was happening,...

This was also the first alphabet to include vowels. There are modern and ancient forms of the
Greek language in writing, as well as the spoken language. He ancient Greeks even had two
different numeric systems in use, called the acrophonic and attic systems. The Greek alphabet and
language eventually evolved into Latin in about the sixth century BCE, which was created by
Romulus, the founder of Rome. The Latin is no longer known well, but many medical terms were
developed from the Latin language, so most medical students are very familiar with Latin. It is
still taught in schools today, because many words have Latin roots and can help us better
understand the word s meaning. The roots are commonly seen in science, such as the Latin roots
eco and bio. Ecology is the study of the Earth, this is assumed by the fact that the Latin root eco
means Earth and ology means the study of. Latin was commonly used through about 1900, because
all college students were required to learn the language, although the writing is not in classical
Latin. In fact, a manuscript called The Book of Kells was written in Latin

  • 2. The Effect Of Water Hardness On Our Health Introduction Water hardness is an ongoing problem across the globe. While not detrimental to our health, there are many issues that arise from having hard water in households. You may be asking, what is hard water? Isn t it all liquid? The hardness of water actually refers to the presence of divalent cations, or ions with a +2 charge. In drinking water, these are most commonly Ca2+ and Mg2+ ions ( Water Hardness). Water hardness can cause a buildup of minerals on surfaces such as dishes, sinks, showers and pipes. While the aesthetic problems are not that important, the buildup in the pipes can be very harmful. The scale that builds up causes utility bills to increase because more energy is required to deliver water to its final... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The water will turn to blue when you reach this point. Once you find how many drops of EDTA it took, you can calculate the concentration of calcium and magnesium in the water, as seen in the results section. EDTA is not always precise since the turning point will often lie between drops, which can result in a large margin of error, especially for small samples. For a more accurate test, we turn to AA, or Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry. This water hardness test uses a machine to aspirate the water sample. This gas then is burned in a flame, and a light of a range of wavelengths is passed through it. The machine then calculates the amount of divalent cations in the water by comparing the relative levels of light passed through the sample at each wavelength to known atomic absorption levels. You then use a trend line from known samples readings, to figure out what the concentration of calcium or magnesium there is. These two different tests are both used in this lab so that we can be assured we ve done them right. The hardness of one test should be similar to the hardness obtained from the other. Using these tests, we created a hypothesis to test. Our group was testing which part of Pennsylvania has the highest mineral content and hardness of their water. Our samples came from a Pittsburgh well (694 Forbes Rd. New Castle PA 16101), State College tap (478 E Calder Way State College PA 16801) and Philadelphia tap (6705 Springbank Lane Philadelphia ... • 3. The Causes And Impacts Of The International Space Station The International Space Station commonly known as the (ISS) is a large spacecraft that orbits around Earth. This space station serves as a home for the crews of astronauts and cosmonauts. The space station is also a unique science laboratory. Several nations such as Canada, Japan, the Russian Federation, the United States, and eleven Member States of the European Space Agency(Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom) worked together to build and use this space station. The space station is made of parts that were assembled by astronauts, in space itself. NASAis using this space station to learn more about the living and working conditions in space. These discoveries will help make it possible for them to find out if it is feasible to send humans farther into space than ever done in the past. Political: The International Space Station was first considered in the waning years of the Cold War. A space station called Mir was prepared to be launched by the Soviet Union, which went into orbit in 1986. The United States wanted to match its rival.During his 1984 State of the Union address, President Ronald Regan announced his plans for a U.S led project. Russia was invited to join the space station by the United States when they decided to expand their international partnership, after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1993. • 4. Dapsone And T-Cell Response Lab Report Dapsone and T cell Response Like most sulphonamides, dapsone can lead to a hypersensitivity reaction that is likely cell mediated (type IV hypersensitivity reaction). T cells are indicated because of the time delay from beginning therapy to the time of disease, approximately 4 weeks. The mechanism of T cell response to dapsone is unknown and three mechanisms are postulated. According to the hapten model, a small inert molecule could illicit an immune response by first covalently binding directly to an intra or extra cellular protein. Where the native protein would likely be recognized as self and be ignored by the immune system the protein adduct could stimulate a T cell response. This is the mechanism of the delayed hypersensitivity reactions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alternatively, the pro hapten model asserts that nonreactive molecules can be metabolized intracellularly and the metabolites then bind to host proteins, modifying them. Again, when presented to the T cell receptor they are recognized as abnormal and the T cell becomes activated to illicit an immune response. This response is seen in reactions with sulfamethoxazole and other drugs (Adam et al, 2011). Finally, in the pharmacological interactions of drugs with immune receptors concept, or p I model, an inert molecule interacts directly with the antigen presenting cell at the major histocompatibility complex. These alterations are sufficient to interact with the T cell Receptor and induce a response. The p i model is the most likely candidate for dapsone as there is a 21 fold increased risk associated with HLA*B13:01, a common MHC in South East Asia and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. In Order To Speak To The Issue Of The Proposed Federal In order to speak to the issue of the proposed federal budget of 2018, I feel I must make certain disclosures. I am a theatre artist and emerging scholar. I have and stand to continue to benefit from the NEA. However, as a scholar and artist, I hold the ability to criticize systems which do and do not apply to me as essential to rational discourse. On that note, I also wish to clarify my audience of this essay. Artists have been bogged down fighting against the government with issues of censorship and simply fighting to keep the NEA alive instead of making space to think critically about the NEA. For that reason, I speak to other artists with this paper and ask those who do not identify as artists to read this only as observers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the NEA may not take donations from private patrons in grant giving, nearly every theatre in the country that receives a direct grant from the NEA also receives private donations in order to operate, as well as local and state arts agencies which act independently of the federal government ( Frequently Asked Questions. 2). In 2014, NEA Direct Grants supported approximately 30,000 live performance events and 3,000 exhibitions ( Fast Fact about the National... 1). From the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies, In combination with approximately $360 million in state appropriations, the federal state partnership supports more than 23,000 grants in 5,000 communities across the United States, (1). As stated before, the NEA maintains partnerships with every state arts agency and regional arts agency in all 435 congressional districts. This speaks to not only the successful diplomacy and lobbying for arts by the NEA but also the nature of collaboration within art that we artists cherish. Ethically speaking, removed from economics, the message sent by federal government and artists who support the move to abolish the NEA in many ways disrespects and devalues that collaborative spirit and success. Placed back into economic context, this collaboration also ensures that an abolition of the NEA would be felt by each and every congressional district in the United States ending decades of successful ... This whole having kids thing is more nerve wracking when you really start to think about it. You re doing exactly the right thing. There is no sense in worrying about things unless you have to. Maybe I can set your mind at ease a little bit. To begin with, I know that you re both concerned about factor viii deficiency and myotonic dystrophy because of the family history. Is there anything else that you d like to know? Well, began Olga, the fact that we both have these diseases in our family and there is a chance that we could pass them on to our children has opened our eyes a little bit, but we d also like to know if you can predict other diseases that don t run in our family. • 7. Heterogeneous Limitations Researchers concluded that there were heterogeneous limitations incorporated in this study. First, sampling was limited to speciп¬Ѓc jurisdictions served by one probation ofп¬Ѓce. As a result, there was a lack of generalizability among the data and п¬Ѓndings. Given the community background of the sample, it was indefinite whether the results were generalizable to other areas and probation ofп¬Ѓces. Similarly, the limited sampling jurisdiction restricted the ability to collect comprehensive neighborhood data. Secondly, although this evaluation procured a randomized treatment design, the inability to implement the Decide Your Time system as a mechanism for randomizing cases without requiring probationers consent delayed the data collection. As a result, limited information (theoretically significant variables) was collected on clients educational background, socioeconomic status, rapport with their Probation Officers, severity of drug use, and prior participation in drug treatment, living arrangements, and personal relationships. This data would have permitted a more robust analysis, and future researchers should... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Models that match services and programs based on an offender s risk and needs were speciп¬Ѓcally recognized and addressed the heterogeneity of the offender population in developing supervision and service plans. Probation Officers were trained in RNR techniques as well as in interaction skills to improve the quality of relationships between offenders and ofп¬Ѓcers, both of which improved offender outcomes. The п¬Ѓndings of this study suggest that a supervision model that commingled close monitoring with therapeutic approaches (treatment and employment) was more effective than simply relying on swift and certain sanctioning ... Whenever I read this quote I think optimism; if you re optimistic many doors will open. Well you may be tasking yourself what does being optimistic has to do with your health? A study made in 1990 s, in Finland, with two groups of 1,250 healthy man (one group was pessimistic and the other group was optimistic), in a time frame of ten years; reveal that the group who were pessimistic, two thirds of them die, and the rest of the group had suffer from cancer or heart attacks. For some people it may not seem bad to drink a coke while we eat: but in a day theirs three meals, and if you times three time seven you will get twenty one cokes in a week. Twenty one coke in a week, that s too much! As a result of drinking too much coke makes me more obsessed and helps promote diabetes. My second bad health habit is lack of drinking water. Doctor Howard Flaks mentioned that for a healthy person the minimum of water they should consumed is eight to ten cups of water. It is sad to admit that I don t even drink three cups of water. With this nonsense of mine, I am just harming myself. The lack of water contributes to having more frequent headache, joint ache, and dryness of eyes. Getting a certain amount of sunlight is good for your health, but when you get too much hours of sunlight it stops being so health for you. For my third bad health habit is that I spend too much time outside with direct sunlight and no sun cream nor protection. Is my passion being outside especially in the summer, I can spend hours and hours outside without even noticing it. The sad part is that I am allergic to direct run light; if I spend about an hour outside with direct run light I will start to get this type black spots in body. I felt overwhelmed so I saw this choice on the Application Activity 2 I chose to go for tutoring. The tutor I chose is the Valedictorian and she could have chose to graduate as early as last year. She is currently taking this last semester here and then graduating and going to New Mexico Tech. I had a C in calculus when I chose to get my tutor to help me with test corrections and a few homework assignments that were worth a lot of points. Alyssa my tutor really helped me understand what I did wrong on my test and with the corrections she had me do I was able to bring my grade from a C to a B. The test had me deal with limits of functions and before I really didn t understand on the first question I was very close to the correct answer but I factored incorrectly and on the second question I remembered a vital rule in limits which is 1 divided by an X to a power is 0. The next question had me deal with graphing functions within a function and that confused me quite a lot and after getting tutored these functions make sense to me and I can graph them as easy as a normal function, but we also had to evaluate if the limits exist and if they do exist where they are on the graph and that was very confusing to me because I did not know which function I had to ... • 12. The Factors Of Christianity And Christianity In The Roman... Christianity did not spread very quickly initially, but in the 2nd century it spread like a wildfire. The spread of the religion was rapid and was due to many factors. Christianity spread due to its universality, its familiarity to the Roman people, and the fact that it gave people hope. Christianity gave something to the people of the Roman Empirethat they had never experienced before. Although Jesus was dead, his teachings were still very much alive and thriving within his followers. This is evident in Christianitys expansion throughout the Roman Empire. Christianity was a religion for everyone, where no one was excluded. Throughout the Roman Empire, many mystery cults existed. Unlike Christianity, many of these religions were exclusive to only men or women, keeping some people out while including the others. Mithraism was one that was only open to men, while the cult of Isis was a religion exclusive to women. Christianity was completely inclusive. It was for the rich, the poor, the slaves, the men, and the women. A peasant had just as much place in Christianity as an aristocrat. Spiritual equality was a reality in Christianity. It had previously been believed that only Jewish people could join Christianity, but Paul of Tarsus changed that by sharing his beliefs. Paul of Tarsus, also called the second founder of Christianity, believed that gentiles should be given the opportunity to be a part of Christianity too. Building administrations have been a developing business for a considerable length of time, energized by the expanding many sided quality of electronic vehicle frameworks, for example, motor administration, security framework programming, and some more. The futuristic modern technology in The Machine Stops is very dependable as well as modern day technology, except that in The Machine Stops everything is machine generated. Processes and schedules as part of most businesses and they are critical functions for transportation companies and infrastructure improvements to operational metro systems. London Underground is the oldest underground metro system that is using the most advanced technology to transport its customers and keep upgrading the old system to bring it up to world class status. This paradoxical problem requires innovation, creativity and rigorous researches, in order to unlock the potential for world class status. As inspirational as nature is, can it deliver the creative, analogical keys to unlock this complex problem? A Review of the Literature: Darmoul et al. (2014) report provides a novel solution to disturbances in transportation systems using artificial immune systems. It demonstrates that biological solutions help to develop principles for detection strategies, formation of reactive solutions, supervised learning and memory utilization from previous experiences. The report reviews the current transport control systems; the geographic information system (GIS), Global Positioning System (GPS), automatic passenger counters (APC), and automatic vehicle monitoring systems (AVMS). However, the management capabilities for these control systems is not well documented or usually considered. The control strategy during a disturbance is typically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. China s Engagement Into Multilateral Participation Essay 2Literature Review In spite of the fact that China s engagement into multilateral participation in the South China Sea dispute comes up with compositions on conflict management in this area by various researchers, so far not very many endeavours have been made to clarify the explanations behind China s changing state of mind towards multilateralism (Desjardins 2014). The current level headed discussions essentially take after three lines of contentions. The three systemic theories incorporated in it are realism, liberalism, and constructivism (Chang 2014). Talking into consideration these three theories, the China s South China Sea approach from a particular point of view is projected below. 2.1Realism Since 1919, there is a common emphasis on the realism in world politics and this has caused the Realist Theory to become prominent for mostly all the matters of international relations as perceived from Carr (2014). The realism has been continued to be part of international relations since this time and it has still been under consideration with high dominance. The dominance of this theory was provided after the cold war and then it remained in power. The main focus of realism theory in the proposed study would remain in the delivery of the background study of the dispute that is a South China Sea dispute, in accordance with its evolution, conflict management, and resolution (Morgenthau 2014). Sayers Gaudy Night When Gayle Wald wrote, Sayers s career writing detective stories effectively ends with Gaudy Night (108), she did not present a new argument, but continued the tradition that Gaudy Night does not center on the detective story. Barbara Harrison even labeled Dorothy Sayers s Lord Peter /Harriet Vane books, Strong Poison, Gaudy Night, and Busman s Honeymoon, as deliriously happy ending romances (66). The label stretches the definition of a romance, but Gaudy Night indeed has very little to do with crime. Sayers encrypted the real story within her detective novel. We usually think of crypts as graves or coded messages, similar to the letter in Have His Carcasse. The notion of a crypt, however, contains a deeper psychological meaning. Crypts deal with the ideas of introjection and incorporation. These concepts identify the alternative ways in which the psyche handles trauma. When the psyche introjects a trauma, the trauma melds into the subconscious. If the psyche successfully assimilates the trauma, it unites with the rest of the psyche, much like a cube of ice (the trauma) melting in a glass of water (the psyche). Incorporation occurs when trauma embeds itself into the psyche, but remains separate and, therefore, separable. If we return to the idea of the psyche as a glass of water, incorporation resembles what happens when a Ping Pong ball (the trauma) drops into a glass of water. The ball remains a lump in the psyche. Jacques Derrida wrote about the crypt sealing the loss of the object, but also marking the refusal to mourn . . . I pretend to keep the dead alive, intact, safe (save) inside me, but it is only to refuse, in a necessarily equivocal way, to love the dead as a living part of me, dead save in me, through the process of introjection, as happens in so called normal mourning ( Foreword 17). The tomb stands then as an incorporation of the trauma of death. We physically mark the place of rest as a mirror of our inability to assimilate that trauma ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Atlantic bluefin tuna is one of the largest, fastest, and most gorgeously colored of all the world s fishes. The blue fin tuna unfortunately however, has been facing a constant and dramatic decline in their species. With overfishing, their numbers have dropped down to critically low levels. The bluefin population has declined at a steady rate for several years and despite some measures being taken to manage the population in the Atlantic, it still remains to be excessively hunted. The species is prized by both wealthy sushi consumers due to its rich, fatty flesh and by fishermen who can sell a single catch for tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. Currently, this combination has brought the species to the brink of extinction, with environmentalists claiming the species has no chance to recover if existing fishing practices are allowed to continue. The issue of the declining bluefin population is not simply the dismissal of catch limits, but also the ways in which fish are caught. One of the most wasteful fishing techniques is the use of surface longlines. These lines reach up to forty miles in length with baited hooks attached along the lines. The lines are deployed in spawning areas where hundreds of bluefin are caught along with other non target species every year. Conservationist groups have encouraged the National Marine Fisheries Service to ban the use of longlines in the Gulf during spawning season to give stocks time to recover. In addition to longlines, purse seining is another wasteful, yet commonly used, fishing technique. This involves the release of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. The Internal Combustion Engine 1Introduction Since the advent of the internal combustion engine nearly two centuries ago, humans have become increasingly reliant on fuel to power these engines. Our only method, historically, for obtaining this fuel is to probe the earth and oceans until crude oil is struck. Crude oil is termed a fossil fuel as it takes hundreds of millions of years to form. Crude oil is extracted from a geological reservoir and subsequently refined into the various fuels which we use at ever increasing rates (petroleum, diesel, aviation fuel etc). Unfortunately we are not finding new oil deposits at anything like the rates we are consuming, so logically we will eventually run out. Many of the alternate energy sources currently available (electric engines, fuel cells and ethanol) have low energy density and do not scale well to larger vehicles like aeroplanes and trucks. Therefore finding new renewable sources of energy to power our current and future devices is paramount to our continuation as a successful species. This project focuses on the prokaryotic enzyme, diacylglycerol acyltransferase 1 DGAT1 (not to be confused with eukaryotic DGA1P a protein which provides the same function but is very different in sequence and structure). Well, according to US Citizen and Immigration Services, refugees are, people who have been persecuted or fear they will be persecuted on account of race, religion, nationality, and/or membership in a particular social group or political opinion. (USCIS, 2015) In other words, they are pushed out of their country for fear of their lives. This then creates the issue of where they end up. According to the UN RefugeeAgency, there are about 21.3 million known refugees worldwide. Of that 21.3 million, are 4.9 million that come from Syria. Also, the UNHCR notes that the top three hosting countries are Turkey, Pakistan, and Lebanon (which as of 2015, had 183 refugees for every 1,000 residents). (UNHCR, 2016) However, the US, which has a huge expanse, is not on the list. According to the Washington Post, the US has met its goal of granting asylum to 10,000 Syrians in the past fiscal year, but that is still not a large number compared to other countries. Such as Canada, which with a population barely a tenth the size of the United States , has resettled three times more Syrian refugees since last fall. (The Washington Post, 2016). How would a modern audience view this play in a different way to an audience in Shakespeare s time, particularly in relation to the role and status of women and attitudes to marriage and courtship? Elizabethan society was created on the belief the woman had no right or control over their own lives. Women had no choice in what their profession would be, as a matter of fact they weren t allowed to have a profession such as medicine, politics and law.
