It occurs when families and individuals move
from one city to another to find employment.

to drive one of the most dramatic
migrations in history. Since 1820,
more than 65 million people have
come to the United States. This enormous
migration came in three great waves.

of their lives. In the U.S., this hope is
called the “American Dream.” An example of a
pull factor is economic opportunities.

Many families migrate so that their children
