Pull factors attract people to immigrate to new countries and places. Some key pull factors mentioned include opportunities for a better life and more freedom, employment opportunities, the desire for economic opportunities like those promised by the "American Dream", escaping poverty and hunger, reuniting divided families, and access to education for children. Between 1820-present, over 65 million people immigrated to the United States in three great waves, drawn by these various pull factors seeking improvement and new opportunities.
