St Louis Temple Research Paper
Two Churches, Different Times, Same message
Religion is a system of symbols that establishes powerful motivation in people by creating
conceptions of something real. Art and religion have gone hand in hand for years. Almost every
religion has representations of their God and symbols through works of art. Architecture is a form of
art, and it requires creativity and imagination to build something related to religion. Two churches
from different periods, built with different techniques, can have the same purpose. The design of the
St. Louis Chapel Abbey, created by Gyo Obata with the purpose of serving God, is absolutely
incredible. Similarly, the Borgund Stave Church in Norway, made from wood a long time ago, is also
beautiful though the architect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Louis abbey chapel is circular, and this decision was made because the monks wanted to keep the
congregation as close to the altar as possible, as actual participants of the Catholic ritual instead of just
spectators. The design consists in parabolic arches made of thin shell concrete, trying to create the
landscape of Missouri. On the exterior of the church there are twenty parabolic arch sections in the
first tiers of the circular chapel. In the second there are twenty smaller arches and on the top tier there
are ten even smaller arches, which cover the bell tower. On the top, in the middle there is a big cross, a
symbol of Christ. In the distance it seems lifting off from its green ridge and soaring upwards. On the
inside, each arch of the first tier encloses an intimate space with a small altar. The parabolic shaped
windows, just like the Gateway Arch, suggest a gothic cathedral windows. The windows are faced
with dark insulated polyester, which limits the entrance of sunlight. The polyester seems to be black
from the outside but it actually admits daylight into the inside creating a peaceful atmosphere. Inside
the church, there is a sculpture of the Madonna and Christ child and other works from modern art by
artists from France, Spain, Great Britain and the US. Also, the life sized sculptures of Saint Benedict
and the Virgin Mary decorate the church

2 The outputs can be products, services, information and experiences. The transformation of inputs
into outputs can be physical conversion or alteration, transportation, storage or inspection when
dealing with goods. 3 For services, the change would be more at a personal or even psychological
level. From a value perspective, value is created when the value of the outputs is greater than the sum
total of the value of inputs. Asforthe word management , there has been long debate about its meaning.
For our purpose, we take the perspective of the functions that managers perform. The five traditional
functions that managers perform are planning, organising, coordinating and controlling of resources.
Combining these separate definitions into one, operations management can therefore be defined as the
planning, organising, coordinating and controlling of transformation of inputs to outputs. These
aspects can be represented in the form of a simple model as shown in Figure 1.1. b) Describe how
focus dimensions affect the selection of a process structure and develop advantages and disadvantages
for using each process structure in a specific situation. c) Project; In this arrangement, the product

Hadrians Wall Analysis
The essay is going to discuss the purpose of the Hadrian s Wall built. Hadrian was the first to build a
wall, eighty miles long to separate the Romans from the barbarians (the Picts / the Brigantes). (1) It
took three of Britain s legions around 15,000 men 6 years to construct since AD 122 which is located
at the narrowest part of the Island with a natural ridge at the central part which offers a great position
on defense. (2) Edward N. Luttwak (1976) has indicated the wall s fortifications including the forts,
trenches and soldiers house did suggest a military motivation. (3) However, from the duration and
pattern of the construction, it does not seem to build for defensive purposes only, but furthermore A
multipurpose. The essay will be focusing on the wall s political purpose, thus indicating that it was not
built for defensive purposes originally. The military purpose was not the first consideration when the
wall was built. In fact, before the installation of the wall, the northern tribes have been defeated at the
battle of Mons Graupius at AD 85 by the Romans. At the same time, the Romans pushed northwards
to the current Scotland. Yet, the terrain increasingly mountainous and boggy obstruct the occupation,
the Romans couldn t consolidate their economic profit and slowly retreating to the southward. (4) It
shows the Romans did have the ability to defeated intruders even without the wall, therefore the need
of the wall is not urgent. Basically, it would cost years

The Internal Combustion Engine
1 Introduction
Since the advent of the internal combustion engine nearly two centuries ago, humans have become
increasingly reliant on fuel to power these engines. Our only method, historically, for obtaining this
fuel is to probe the earth and oceans until crude oil is struck. Crude oil is termed a fossil fuel as it
takes hundreds of millions of years to form. Crude oil is extracted from a geological reservoir and
subsequently refined into the various fuels which we use at ever increasing rates (petroleum, diesel,
aviation fuel etc). Unfortunately we are not finding new oil deposits at anything like the rates we are
consuming, so logically we will eventually run out. Many of the alternate energy sources currently
available (electric engines, fuel cells and ethanol) have low energy density and do not scale well to
larger vehicles like aeroplanes and trucks. Therefore finding new renewable sources of energy to
power our current and future devices is paramount to our continuation as a successful species.
This project focuses on the prokaryotic enzyme, diacylglycerol acyltransferase 1 DGAT1 (not to be
confused with eukaryotic DGA1P a protein which provides the same function but is very different in
sequence and structure). This enzyme is encoded by the atf1 gene in Rhodococcus opacus PD630.
DGAT is important because it catalyses the final, rate limiting step, in the Kennedy pathway. This step
is the transfer of an acyl group from acyl CoA to diacylglycerol, creating

The Great Repeal Bill
The first issue is the UK Government s ability to convert all EU law to UK law as well as Scotland s
power to block the Great Repeal Bill. The problem which exists with the proposed bill is that some
parts of EU law relate directly to issues which have been devolved to Scotland, for example;
agriculture, fishing in Scottish waters and environmental law. If the Bill were to convert EU laws on
devolved matters into UK law then the UK Government would be legislating on areas out with its
reserved functions. According to the Sewel convention the legislative consent of the Scottish
Parliament is required when Westminster legislation concerns devolved matters. As a constitutional
convention, the Sewel Convention is more of a political tool, ... Show more content on

Firstly, it is essential to identify the relevant provision contained within the 2016 Scotland Act which
states that The Scottish Parliament and the Scottish Government are a permanent part of the United
Kingdom s constitutional arrangements which can only be abolished if this is what is decided by the
Scottish people in a Referendum. Therefore, legal constitutionalists would argue that the Scotland Act
is entrenched within the UK Constitution and cannot be abolished. Furthermore, political
constitutionalists would argue that that there are large political constraints which prohibit the repeal of
the Scotland Act, and therefore, the abolishment of the Scottish Parliament. The principles of
accountability and democracy would serve to prevent Westminster deciding to repeal the Act. Since its
establishment in 1999, it is clear that the Scottish Parliament is an institution which is desired by the
people of Scotland. Therefore, abolishment is possible but unlikely. However, legally speaking, the
UK Parliament is completely sovereign. The basic principle of the British Constitution has been
summed up by AV Dicey, who stated that parliament

Social Relationships In Silas Marner
Le Khuc Hoang Uyen 1AH Topic: Discuss the presentation of social relationships in Silas Marner. In
George Eliot s Silas Marner , there was a clearer organization of the social hierarchy, with people in
different classes not frequently interact with each other and much less restrained social mobility in the
hierarchy. Generally, social relationships in Silas Marner are relatively dynamic, yet heavily
influenced by social status and geographical boundaries. In Silas Marner , social relationships are
class based; the wealthy people are rarely in contact with those who are poorer and lower in social
status, although the dividing boundaries between the different classes are not totally impermeable.
This is evident in the secretion between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Silas Marner , people tend to live in secluded communities and rarely have any contact with people
living in different areas, which illustrates how relationships are conventionally formed based on
similarities in term of daily routine, living areas, tradition and customs. This is demonstrated in how
Silas Marner is ostracized from the rest of the community in Raveloe at first, for he comes from a land
that is not commonly known by the other villagers, as the world outside their own direct experience
was a region of vagueness and mystery . The fact that they feel almost threatened by the uncertainties
and how they quickly the relevance of the existence of any other place but their own illustrates a sense
of utter security they feel towards their land, which again suggests how they must have been clinging
to the place and will be more accepting towards their fellow villagers than those coming from faraway
lands. The exclusiveness is further highlighted by the location of Raveloe, which is a village nestled in
a snug well wooded hollow, quite an hour s journey on horseback from any turnpike . This does have
significant impacts on their social relationships, for narrow minded villagers, who do not travel
frequently, appear to be vastly prejudiced and are not willing to welcome new or seemingly strange
looking people, which leads to much social segregation, misunderstanding

Communism Socialist And Communism
Part I proved what should be obvious: That governments are composed of groups of people and that
socialist and communist governments are groups of people who collectively and directly own or
regulate the means of production. Thus, the Leftist talking point that failed socialist and communist
regimes of the past and present weren t really socialist and communist has been shown to be a lie.
In this part we will demonstrate that the practical implications of this deception are dysfunctional in
the extreme because their programme can only be implemented by force of arms and governments
never give up power voluntarily.
It can be shown via the logic of the dictionary definitions that governments are merely groups of
people with the authority to govern a particular region, state or nation. And that socialist and
communist governments are merely groups of people who collectively own or regulate the means of
production.
One is supposed to ignore the obvious and instead pretend that a group of people collectively and
directly owning or regulating the means of production is some other vague entity but not a
government. The socialists will also insist that these reality defying facts absolve them of any
responsibility for the mass murder and repression by the people collectively and directly owning or
regulating the means of production. And why would they try to deceive the world over something like
that?

the deaths from the sickle cell disease are from bacterial infections. The buildup of blood cells that
sickle in the blood vessels of the brain can cause strokes in the victims.
New treatments for sickle cell disease make the potential to live much greater. People with the sickle
cell disease need to check with their doctor a few times a year. Children with a sickle cell disease can
take penicillin every day to prevent infections. People with a sickle cell disease need to undergo
vaccines such as pneumococcus, influenza shots, and meningococcus.
Diagnosis can be done through blood test before or after birth.
In conclusion to this paper on sickle cell disease, the information is summarized. Sicklecell disease is
a blood disorder, there are many different types, it is most common among African genes, people all
over the world can get it, the symptoms usually happen during childhood, it can be lethal but there are
treatments to help, and diagnosis can be done through a blood test. Sicklecell disease is an inherited

character who actually convinced Ragunath to kick his wife out of the house. Her character too

Nargis on the other hand portrayed different characteristics as compared to Leela s character. Nargis
was shown as someone who took a stand and fought against the dominant male figure to seek justice
for Leela (orphan) and Raj (Wanderer). The opening shot of Nargis in the film showed her as a strong
character and the fact that she was willing to fight a case against Justice Ragunath already predicted
how strong her character will be further in the film. From the start till the very end Nargis was shown
as someone who follows her heart and does what she feels is right knowing that it might create

Classification and Assessment of Aridity over Pakistan...
3. Results and Discussion
The aridity maps was prepared by using De Martonne s Aridity Index, Thornthwaite s Precipitation
Effectiveness Index, Thornthwaite s Moisture Index, UNESCO Aridity Index and Erinc Aridity Index.
These indices showed that most of the southern parts of the country lie between arid to hyper arid
where as northern parts lie between semi arid to very humid zone (Fig 3). Analysis shows the climate
of northern parts is more variable as compare to southern parts. The reason in the variability of the
climate in the northern parts is that this region received rainfall in summer due to monsoon systems
(July to September) and in winter due to western disturbances (December to March). Southern parts of

This is quite unfortunate for our agriculture that evaporative demand and water requirement for crops
in whole southern parts of the country is very high as compare to northern parts and it is very difficult
to carry out the agricultural activity in these regions.
Climate variability and change profoundly influence social and natural environments throughout the
world, with consequent impacts on natural resources and industry that could be large and far reaching.
Climate change due to global warming not only started to impact the weather pattern but also
influence the agriculture sector in Pakistan. Pakistan is an agriculture whose majority of the
population depends upon agriculture. Glaciers are the big fresh water sources for Pakistan which
fulfills the water demands in the agriculture land while rainfall fulfills the water requirement of the
barani areas. An increase in temperature was observed in the country especially during the last few
decades which accelerate snow melting on glaciers. The increased rate of glacial melting in Himalayas
has caused vast lakes to develop, and if these lacks outburst, these can inundate towns and villages
below. There is high level of confidence that recent regional changes (rising tendency) in temperature
have discernable impacts on precipitation, evaporation, stream flow, runoff and other elements of
hydrological cycles (Elshamy et al., 2006).

Assisted Suicide Is Not Common For All Areas Throughout...
Assisted Suicide
Imagine being diagnosed with a life ending disease and experiencing such excruciating pain that
doctors say cannot be healed. Pain is a terrible thing to experience, especially when it is permanent.
What can be done to relieve that pain? What if the only option to rid the pain from the patient is
death? No one knows how that feels until it happens to them, that is why assisted suicide is used.
Assisted suicide is a practice throughout most of the United States that terminates the lives of dying
patients. This process is when patients are in agonizing pain that is too overwhelming to bear;
therefore they beg physicians to end their lives. Physicians have the ability to end a patient s life by
withholding medication or removing the patient from a life supporting device. Patients have to meet
certain requirements before the procedure can be completed. Many people wish that this practice was
legal, but there are others that do not believe in it. Legalized physician assisted suicide is not common
in all areas throughout the United States. There are many different views about physician assisted
suicide, and the subject is a rather touchy one to discuss. There are many details about this issue that
many people are not informed about like the past situations dealing with assisted suicide and
physicians, areas that allow the procedure to be done, and the rules and regulations that patients have
to meet before anything can be done.

Food Chains, Food Web, Ecological Pyramids
FOOD CHAINS, FOOD WEBS AND ECOLOGICAL PYRAMIDS
In an ecosystem, plants capture the sun s energy and use it to convert inorganic compounds into
energy rich organic compounds. This process of using the sun s energy to convert minerals (such as
magnesium or nitrogen) in the soil into green leaves, or carrots, or strawberries, is called
photosynthesis.
Photosynthesis is only the beginning of a chain of energy conversions. There are many types of
animals that will eat the products of the photosynthesis process. Examples are deer eating shrub
leaves, rabbits eating carrots, or worms eating grass. When these animals eat these plant products,
food energy and organic compounds are transferred from the plants to the animals. These animals are

In order to carry out life functions, consumers acquire energy through the burning or breaking down of
food molecules they consume (eat). Thermal energy (heat) is produced as a result of the burning of
these food molecules. More than half of the energy from each food molecule is lost as heat. Only
about 10% 20% of energy at each trophic level is available to pass on to the next level. In other words,
at each level there is only about 10% available energy to put on new biomass (growth).
Pyramid of Numbers
The loss of energy at each trophic level also explains why there are usually fewer organisms in each
higher trophic level. The total number of plants in a particular area would generally be higher then the
number of herbivores that the plants support and the number of herbivores would be higher than the
number of higher order carnivores.
Pyramid of Biomass
Biomass is the total mass of dry organic matter per unit of area. Each higher trophic level contains less
biomass than the previous trophic level. Therefore a drawing or graph that represents the amount of
biomass at each trophic level would also produce the basic pyramid shape. Biomass is related to the
abundance of organisms at each trophic level.

Environmental Externalities In The Canadian Government
The Canadian government ought to take a tougher stand against business enterprises who are causing
negative environmental externalities by levying taxes, intensifying standards and introducing new
environmental programs. Canada wants to be a world leader in climate change and now is the time to
act and set the standard. Revenues generated through taxes will be rolled into environmental programs
and businesses will be forced to innovate to find new ways of doing business.
Canada has deployed policy options in the past to deal with issues like global warming, hazardous
waste, and air and water pollution, albeit they were after the issues became critical. The government
needs to take a stronger role and be a world leader in climate change, ... Show more content on

It forces the business to make the decision on how to proceed, and they are faced with consequences if
they continue. 2
Canada currently makes limited use of environmental taxes, in an OECD ranking of environmentally
related taxes as a share of GDP, Canada ranks between Rwanda and Tunisia, and India. The OECD
average was 1.56%, Canada came in at 1.15%, the leading country was Denmark at 4.11%. This
shows that Canada has fallen behind others in environmental taxation and that changes need to be
made.
However, taxes alone will not be able to solve the issue by itself, a multi pronged approach is
necessary. Taxes are one piece of the puzzle; quality and quantity standards combined with the taxes
will force the business to make tough decisions and force them to innovate and consider clean
technology options. Cap and trade systems may also be used with taxes, allowing business to emit a
certain amount and make market decisions to purchase and emit more; and taxing them on certain
levels. 1
The next negative externality to address is the location of hazardous waste sites and the options to deal
with them. The location of hazardous facilities is a hot button issue for many communities; evidence
has emerged that communities close to toxic waste landfills suffered serious negative consequences. 1
The problem with these facilities is they have to go somewhere, so they key is to locate them where
there will have the least impact on people

advantage. Sea dragons have numerous natural predators in the south and western coastal waters of
Australia but are rarely even spotted to the elaborate camouflage of the sea dragon. Those few sea

Esterification Lab
A Fischer esterification reaction was used in the first part of this lab to convert an unknown alcohol
into an ester through the help of microscale reflux, which was later identified using GC, micro boiling
point, and IR spectroscopy. In this type of reaction, an alcohol is reacted with a carboxylic acid, and is
driven by a strong acid catalysis to yield ester and water. To obtain a good yield of the ester produced,
Le Chatelier s principle is exploited to remove excess water and form more ester product, by the
addition of excess carboxylic acid.

By using the technique of reflux, the reaction was allowed to heat for a long period of time, where the
vapors from the boil are cooled by the water flow and condensed back into the vial, allowing for a
constant temperature. Micro boiling point allows for the measuring of a liquid compounds boiling
point through the usage of the Mel Temp. The heating of the sample will release air bubbles inside of
the inverted bell, which will fill with the vapor from the sample, when the heat is turned off and the
last bubble exits the bell, the atmospheric pressure is equal to the vapor pressure of the sample, giving
the boiling point, which can help identify a sample. IR spectroscopy measures the IR absorbance of a
compound, and because each functional group has unlike IR absorbance, they can be used to identify a
compound. Gas chromatography evaporates a sample and separates it using a carrier gas, which
reaches the detector giving out a retention time. Different compounds have different retention times,
so when the GC of an unknown is compared to a known standard, the sample can be identified. In
viscosity determination, the time it takes for a compound to flow from one mark to another in a
pasteur pipette, is compared to the time it takes for another compound, which divided give the relative
viscosity of the

With millions and millions of meteors hurtling around in our solar system, there s always a chance that

affected if one does happen to hit? If an object from space hit the sea, a huge tidal wave would be
formed, hundreds of meters high, which would leave most of the world under water for a period of
time, destroying and killing everything in it s way. This would have a catastrophic effect on the Earth,

Scientists have never proven this to be 100 % true, but it is one of the beliefs on how the dinosaurs
became extinct. Both scientists and paleontologists, feel that a meteor must of hit Earth, a few million

brought about the ice age, because of the huge dust cloud that was thrown into the air.
Also, even though this meteor strike never hit Earth, the world watched in awe as thousands of
meteors hit the planet Jupiter two years ago. For about one week, many meteors collided into Jupiter
causing huge craters on it s surface. If the meteors hit the Earth instead of Jupiter the world might
have been destroyed. Almost every American has to know of the crater in Arizona. About
49,000 years ago, a 150 foot meteor hit into the present day state of Arizona. This is the biggest crater
in the United States.
Throughout time, there have been many meteors that have hit
Earth causing great damage, but the scary thing is that there are still trillions and trillions of meteors
right outside our planet. In the Milky Way, the Earth is one of the planets with the greatest chance of
getting hit by a meteor. The Earth is only one planet away from the Asteroid Belt, which is located
between Mars and Jupiter. At any moment, a meteor could break free and head straight towards Earth.

Rabbit Skin Robes and Blanket throughout Western North...
This article starts off by talking about the wide geographic distribution and considerable time depth of
rabbit skin robes and blankets throughout western North America. Many accounts of rabbit skin
blankets and robes suggest that they are very warm. Rabbit skin items are one of the items of material
culture that remained constant from the archaic period up into the historic period. Rabbit skin items
are mentioned in early literature of primary accounts but have been carried over into the secondary
literature. Howard Egan, a pioneer and explorer, observed Shoshone women making rabbit skin robes,
and later wrote in his diary, when hung around the neck the person so clothed can stand in a hard rain
or snow storm and not one drop of wet will pass through the robe. They are wind and rain proof and
almost cold proof (Egan 1917:238). Many accounts have been found about people making items out
of rabbit skin such as the Anasazi, Mogollon, and Hohokam. These accounts suggest that every
member of the group, regardless of sex or age, owned one to wear on cold days, to sleep in, and to be
interred in after death. These kinds of accounts came from the 1800s and early 1900s. There have been
many advances in technology have which have made it possible for us to manufacture materials that
can keep us alive in extreme environments such as the top of Mt. Everest to the depths of Antarctica.

Character Of Polonius In Hamlet
How significant is the character of Polonius in the play Hamlet .
In the play Hamlet the character Polonius is a courtier to the king Claudius. He is the epitome of
everything that Hamlet hates in the court of Denmark. Polonius s character is at many points in the
play is a comic character who contradicts himself constantly and finds incredibly long winded ways to
embellish his points. Shakespeare uses the persona of Polonius, as a satirical figure and as a foil, to
show what is wrong with the court of the time. Polonius is also the father of Laertes and Ophelia who
are integral to the final downfall of the Danish kingdom. The tensions that arise from the death of

His use of complex language to increase his intelligence is both farcical and comical in nature. The
most obvious example of this satirical self mockery in the play comes in Act two scene two Therefore,
since brevity is the soul of wit, And tediousness the limbs and outward flourishes, I will be brief. In
this single sentence Polonius proves to himself and the world that he his does not have the soul of wit
due to the fact that even though he is trying to talk about being short winded, Polonius cannot help
himself from embellishing his point and therefore showing that he cannot be brief. Polonius s inability
to use decisive and precise diction is a major factor in the animosity that grows between him and
Hamlet in the play and provides the basis for that particular subplot. However Polonius still manages
to make a mockery of himself when he interrupts a player claiming that the speech was too long . This
is an allusion in itself to the contradictory nature of the upper classes. Where one law applies to

INTRODUCTION
IRAs, 401(k)s, 403(b)s, and other qualified plans are great ways to plan and save for retirement
(hereinafter, these plans are generally referred to simply as IRAs ). For many individuals, retirement
assets represent a substantial portion of their wealth. And although retirement plans were designed to
permit individuals to save for their own retirement, rather than to accumulate assets to pass to younger
generations, with the right planning implemented these plans can also become legacies for your
beneficiaries. This memo will discuss and illustrate the power of allowing your retirement assets to
grow in a tax deferred environment and how retirement assets can be structured to provide the greatest
benefit to your family.
Without completing the proper planning for IRA assets, you risk losing the ability to maximize the
benefits afforded by deferring the payment of income taxes on these funds. However, by taking steps
to carefully consider the ultimate disposition of these assets, you can ensure that your beneficiaries

Because of the amount of water passing through that area of a roof, it is important to consider how the
area will be protected when replacing an asphalt shingle roof. There are different methods for
shingling the area with dimensional asphalt roofing material. Closed cut valleys are most popular
aesthetically. In a closed cut valley application, shingles from one side of the valley extend across the
valley while shingles from the other side are trimmed back a few inches from the valley centerline.
Any flashing is not exposed. When using the open cut valley roofing method the flashing is visible.
Open cut valleys may be used to create visual interest or enhance features on some design styles.
Some contractors will use ice and water shield under the shingles, others will choose to install metal

Why The 1981 Failed At Reforming Social Security Under The...
The reasons why the 1981 attempt at reforming Social Security under the Reagan administration
failed, as detailed in Chapter 8 of Martha Derthick and Steven M Teles The Reagan Presidency:
Pragmatic Conservatism and its Legacies, boils down to the following factors: it did not have a clear
goal in mind about Social Security reform (Derthick, Teles 187), it had a poor working relationship
with Congress on the issue (Derthick, Teles 185), and leadership, on part of the president, was lacking
(Derthick, Teles 192). In contrast, the attempt at reforming welfare in the 90s, as chronicled in Chapter

Those who have paid into the system expect to get their money back when they retire, which makes
cutting benefits politically hazardous and explains, in part, why the Reagan Administration s attempt
at reforming Social Security failed. Social Security was facing insolvency if steps were not taken to
resolve the gap between benefits going out and tax receipts being collected (Derthick, Teles 183). This
prompted many actors in the political sphere to take part in the reform effort. The most influential
actors in this process were Office of Management and Budget director David Stockman, Speaker of
the House Tip O Neill, President Reagan, Congress, and the Department of Health and Human
Services. As a political actor, David Stockman was not too interested in the possible political
repercussions of Social Security reform. Instead, he was mainly focused on the budget cutting aspect
of reform, irrespective of Congress reaction. Stockman was the main proponent of the administration s
Social Security reform proposal sent to Congress that had deep and immediate cuts in benefits for
early retirees (Derthick, Teles, 184). When Congress saw this proposal, they quickly disowned it
(Derthick, Teles, 184). Speaker of the House Tip O Neill used this reform proposal and its ensuing
rebuff from Congress to his political advantage; as a result, Democrats would forever portray

Engine Removal Research Paper
The removal of a internally damaged engine from your personal car or truck may seem like a daunting
task, but in reality, with the proper tools, equipment, and work space, it can be done within a 6 hour
time frame. Having the proper space to pull the motor is the number one key to the engine removal.
There will be components of the motor that will have to be disassembled at certain periods during the
removal process and if there is no space to lay the parts, then where are you going to put the motor?
The proper tools and equipment is another major concern of an engine removal. Not all the bolts and
nuts that hold the motor and its components together are not always the same size, and sometimes
certain bolts and nuts are in tight spaces so only certain sized ratchets or wrenches will fit to loosen
them. Also, there are specialty tools for loosening ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Usually 2 separate pans are needed. One is for oils, such as motor oil and power steering fluid, and the
other is for antifreeze. If the antifreeze fluid is relatively new, it can be saved and reused. The oil on
the other hand should not be reused because if the engine is internally damaged, there may be small
bits of metal in the oil that cannot be seen as well as sludge that can build up making a motor work
harder. Normally the oil filter is left on to keep oil from dripping. Once all the oil and antifreeze are
drained, replace the plugs and tighten. Also, if the vehicle has a working air conditioner system, a
recovery machine is needed to recycle the Freon out of the system. The system is under high pressure
and Freon depletes the ozone layer, so only a certified technician can handle Freon. Even if your AC
compressor is locked up, the system may still have Freon still in its lines. If you are planning an
engine swap, it is best to have a local auto shop recover your Freon for you before starting the engine

Summary Of Man Ray s Disarming Venuses
In the essay, Man Ray s Disarming Venuses: Deconstructing the Classical Torso in Surrealist
Photography, the author, Kirsten A. Hoving, examines photographs created by Man Ray and how it
relates to the classical Venus sculptures. By using Man Ray s idea of deconstructing the classical
female torso in fragments, body doubling corsets, and formless figures, the author argues how those
characteristics communicate the meaning of eroticism and power within Surrealist photography and
literature. Within the first argument, the author explains how the Surrealist artists drew their
inspiration of the female torso from the ancient mythological god, Venus. Hoving noted that the artists
explored ways which the human body can appear as fragments and how it could be used
systematically. Hoving stated how the Surrealist found the female torso as a metaphor and
metamorphosis (123). The Surrealist artist went further through the exploration of the human figure,
and shocking the viewers in their depiction of mutilated, or distorted bodies. In the 1930s, such visions
have had provided the artist due to the horrors that were placed upon World War I veterans, as they
were left limbless or using prosthetics. Hoving provided an example of physical deformity depicted in
art. She talked about how one of Man Ray s photographs of Lillian Strauss. To support his argument,
Hoving discusses how Man Ray achieved the beauty of physical deformity by deconstructing the
human body and turn it into

Postconventional Schema
Appendix 1 see James Rest (1974), for the Defining Issues Test. This test has been devised under the
influence of Lawrence Kohlberg s moral reasoning stages, uses a Likert scale to give quantitative
ratings and rankings of issues of five moral dilemmas. The scale constitutes of 12 issues that are to be
rated in terms of importance to the corresponding dilemma and then rank the four most important
issues. The respondent will either score on three specific schemas of moral reasoning: Personal
Interests, Maintaining Norms, and the Post conventional Schema. When a respondent reads an issue
statement that both makes sense to them, as well as triggers a preferred schema, that statement is given
a high rating and ranking. Conversely, when a respondent reads an issue statement that is either
construed as nonsensical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Maintaining Norms Schema is considered more advanced than the Personal Interests Schema, as
it emphasizes more than the individual. At the Maintaining Norms reasoning level, law and authority
are important, as each of these helps to uphold social order, which is paramount to this schema. So, a
respondent who is predominantly using this schema will take into consideration what needs to be done
in order to be compliant with the social order of society. Finally, the Postconventional Schema is
regarded as the most developmentally advanced. At the Postconventional reasoning level, laws are not
simply blindly accepted (as with the Maintaining Norms Schema), but are scrutinized in order to
ensure society wide benefit. So, a respondent who is primarily using this schema will focus on what is
best for society as a whole. For example, the Civil Rights movement was a product of
Postconventional reasoning, as followers were most concerned with the society wide effects of
(in)equality. It should be noted that, though an individual may rely more heavily on one of the
aforementioned schemas, moral reasoning is typically informed, to varying degrees, by each of

On Compassion Analysis Essay
Compassion at Play
Are people born with a complete quandary when it comes to compassion or is it something that has
always been there? Barbara Lazear Ascher, born in 1946, writes, On Compassion. Having lived in
New York City, Ascher is able to take first hand examples from the city to show the affection people
have towards each other. Ascher is able to illustrate that compassion is something that has to be taught
because of the adversity at people s heels by including tone, persuasive appeals, and the mode of
comparing and contrast in her essay, On Compassion. The tone of Ascher s essay can best be
described as thoughtful and reflective. Ascher is able to achieve this tone in her quote, He wears a
stained blanket pulled down to his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She has not only witnessed this once, but TWICE she has seen this woman feed the man. The readers
are able to trust that she witnessed these events herself because they are realistic events, and happen in
everyday life. Compassion is a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by
misfortune. Ascher appeals to pathos in her essay in order to compel the readers to feel compassion
towards the victims. She contributes to pathos in her quote, The man s grin is less the result of
circumstance than dreams or madness (46). The audience feels for this young man and the tough
circumstances he is going through. The man is dressed so poorly that he is being mistaken as a mad
man by the spectators. The readers instantly feel empathy for this man in the form of compassion.
Ascher appeals to logos in order to define compassion in her quote, For the ancient Greeks, drama
taught and reinforced compassion within a society (48). Ascher includes the real facts about the
Greeks in her essay. When she includes these facts, it enables the readers to validate that compassion
is something that is taught, whether it is through plays or having to see someone in a worse condition
than they are, compassion is still attained. Ascher utilizes examples in her essay, On Compassion to
show the pity people are taking on the ones who are in a painstaking position. The author supplies her
essay with the mode of comparing and contrasting in her quote, The object of Greek

Heroes In Power Of Myth By Joseph Campbell
Heroes can be explained in many different ways. Heroes can be said to have specific features like
being ultimately stronger than everyone else, being able to use special powers to defeat their enemy,
or just being able to accomplish something that they themselves or other people thought that they
could never do. Through many years of studying different cultures and their historic myth, people are
able to come up with a theory on how many of the myths complete their heroic cycle.
Joseph Campbell has spent many years studying different cultures and their myths in order to find out
the true qualities of a hero. In the series Power of Myth where he sits down and talks about his
experiences with other cultures and different types of myth, he explains ... Show more content on

A hero can be at the burning house physically helping put out the fire, down the street putting their life
on the line to catch the convict, or in the closest church spreading the word of their religion and how it
has affect their life. Everywhere you go you can always find a hero nearby. The one that is like family
to me that I consider a hero is my elementary teacher. She is there for anyone at any time. Starting at a
young age, she was not always the best or brightest person around. She has told stories of the things
that she has done and the trouble that she and her friends use to cause. In her late teens she decided
this would not be the type of person that she wanted to be and decided to change the way that she was
behaving. She started going to church and found programs that helped her change her way. After a
while she started to reach out to her old friends and eventually got a few of them to change with her.
After a while of this she decided she needed to help more people and more families and not just the
friends and family that she knows best. She started to go to college and became a teacher that way
every year she could help out at least another twenty kids and their families. For the past 48 years she
has continuously helped out these families year after year. She has also reached out even farther and
has helped children out by being a foster parent. Almost every year she would be given a child or two
and has had to raise the kid for the year until someone was able to properly give them a home. Many
of these children had mental problems from being switched in and out of homes and once she got
them she was able to fully understand them and help them out tremendously, then after a couple
months they were able to find a permanent home where she would send them and then get her next
child. Time after time this was done and she has help more than a dozen children get through this and

  • 2. St Louis Temple Research Paper Two Churches, Different Times, Same message Religion is a system of symbols that establishes powerful motivation in people by creating conceptions of something real. Art and religion have gone hand in hand for years. Almost every religion has representations of their God and symbols through works of art. Architecture is a form of art, and it requires creativity and imagination to build something related to religion. Two churches from different periods, built with different techniques, can have the same purpose. The design of the St. Louis Chapel Abbey, created by Gyo Obata with the purpose of serving God, is absolutely incredible. Similarly, the Borgund Stave Church in Norway, made from wood a long time ago, is also beautiful though the architect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Louis abbey chapel is circular, and this decision was made because the monks wanted to keep the congregation as close to the altar as possible, as actual participants of the Catholic ritual instead of just spectators. The design consists in parabolic arches made of thin shell concrete, trying to create the landscape of Missouri. On the exterior of the church there are twenty parabolic arch sections in the first tiers of the circular chapel. In the second there are twenty smaller arches and on the top tier there are ten even smaller arches, which cover the bell tower. On the top, in the middle there is a big cross, a symbol of Christ. In the distance it seems lifting off from its green ridge and soaring upwards. On the inside, each arch of the first tier encloses an intimate space with a small altar. The parabolic shaped windows, just like the Gateway Arch, suggest a gothic cathedral windows. The windows are faced with dark insulated polyester, which limits the entrance of sunlight. The polyester seems to be black from the outside but it actually admits daylight into the inside creating a peaceful atmosphere. Inside the church, there is a sculpture of the Madonna and Christ child and other works from modern art by artists from France, Spain, Great Britain and the US. Also, the life sized sculptures of Saint Benedict and the Virgin Mary decorate the church ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From a value perspective, value is created when the value of the outputs is greater than the sum total of the value of inputs. Asforthe word management , there has been long debate about its meaning. For our purpose, we take the perspective of the functions that managers perform. The five traditional functions that managers perform are planning, organising, coordinating and controlling of resources. Combining these separate definitions into one, operations management can therefore be defined as the planning, organising, coordinating and controlling of transformation of inputs to outputs. These aspects can be represented in the form of a simple model as shown in Figure 1.1. b) Describe how focus dimensions affect the selection of a process structure and develop advantages and disadvantages for using each process structure in a specific situation. c) Project; In this arrangement, the product remains in a fixed location and ... • 4. Hadrians Wall Analysis The essay is going to discuss the purpose of the Hadrian s Wall built. Hadrian was the first to build a wall, eighty miles long to separate the Romans from the barbarians (the Picts / the Brigantes). (1) It took three of Britain s legions around 15,000 men 6 years to construct since AD 122 which is located at the narrowest part of the Island with a natural ridge at the central part which offers a great position on defense. (2) Edward N. Luttwak (1976) has indicated the wall s fortifications including the forts, trenches and soldiers house did suggest a military motivation. (3) However, from the duration and pattern of the construction, it does not seem to build for defensive purposes only, but furthermore A multipurpose. The essay will be focusing on the wall s political purpose, thus indicating that it was not built for defensive purposes originally. The military purpose was not the first consideration when the wall was built. In fact, before the installation of the wall, the northern tribes have been defeated at the battle of Mons Graupius at AD 85 by the Romans. At the same time, the Romans pushed northwards to the current Scotland. Yet, the terrain increasingly mountainous and boggy obstruct the occupation, the Romans couldn t consolidate their economic profit and slowly retreating to the southward. (4) It shows the Romans did have the ability to defeated intruders even without the wall, therefore the need of the wall is not urgent. Basically, it would cost years ... • 5. The Internal Combustion Engine 1 Introduction Since the advent of the internal combustion engine nearly two centuries ago, humans have become increasingly reliant on fuel to power these engines. Our only method, historically, for obtaining this fuel is to probe the earth and oceans until crude oil is struck. Crude oil is termed a fossil fuel as it takes hundreds of millions of years to form. Crude oil is extracted from a geological reservoir and subsequently refined into the various fuels which we use at ever increasing rates (petroleum, diesel, aviation fuel etc). Unfortunately we are not finding new oil deposits at anything like the rates we are consuming, so logically we will eventually run out. Many of the alternate energy sources currently available (electric engines, fuel cells and ethanol) have low energy density and do not scale well to larger vehicles like aeroplanes and trucks. Therefore finding new renewable sources of energy to power our current and future devices is paramount to our continuation as a successful species. This project focuses on the prokaryotic enzyme, diacylglycerol acyltransferase 1 DGAT1 (not to be confused with eukaryotic DGA1P a protein which provides the same function but is very different in sequence and structure). This enzyme is encoded by the atf1 gene in Rhodococcus opacus PD630. DGAT is important because it catalyses the final, rate limiting step, in the Kennedy pathway. This step is the transfer of an acyl group from acyl CoA to diacylglycerol, creating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Great Repeal Bill The first issue is the UK Government s ability to convert all EU law to UK law as well as Scotland s power to block the Great Repeal Bill. The problem which exists with the proposed bill is that some parts of EU law relate directly to issues which have been devolved to Scotland, for example; agriculture, fishing in Scottish waters and environmental law. If the Bill were to convert EU laws on devolved matters into UK law then the UK Government would be legislating on areas out with its reserved functions. According to the Sewel convention the legislative consent of the Scottish Parliament is required when Westminster legislation concerns devolved matters. Firstly, it is essential to identify the relevant provision contained within the 2016 Scotland Act which states that The Scottish Parliament and the Scottish Government are a permanent part of the United Kingdom s constitutional arrangements which can only be abolished if this is what is decided by the Scottish people in a Referendum. Therefore, legal constitutionalists would argue that the Scotland Act is entrenched within the UK Constitution and cannot be abolished. Furthermore, political constitutionalists would argue that that there are large political constraints which prohibit the repeal of the Scotland Act, and therefore, the abolishment of the Scottish Parliament. The principles of accountability and democracy would serve to prevent Westminster deciding to repeal the Act. Since its establishment in 1999, it is clear that the Scottish Parliament is an institution which is desired by the people of Scotland. Therefore, abolishment is possible but unlikely. • 8. Social Relationships In Silas Marner Le Khuc Hoang Uyen 1AH Topic: Discuss the presentation of social relationships in Silas Marner. In George Eliot s Silas Marner , there was a clearer organization of the social hierarchy, with people in different classes not frequently interact with each other and much less restrained social mobility in the hierarchy. Generally, social relationships in Silas Marner are relatively dynamic, yet heavily influenced by social status and geographical boundaries. In Silas Marner , social relationships are class based; the wealthy people are rarely in contact with those who are poorer and lower in social status, although the dividing boundaries between the different classes are not totally impermeable. This is evident in the secretion between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Silas Marner , people tend to live in secluded communities and rarely have any contact with people living in different areas, which illustrates how relationships are conventionally formed based on similarities in term of daily routine, living areas, tradition and customs. This is demonstrated in how Silas Marner is ostracized from the rest of the community in Raveloe at first, for he comes from a land that is not commonly known by the other villagers, as the world outside their own direct experience was a region of vagueness and mystery . The fact that they feel almost threatened by the uncertainties and how they quickly the relevance of the existence of any other place but their own illustrates a sense of utter security they feel towards their land, which again suggests how they must have been clinging to the place and will be more accepting towards their fellow villagers than those coming from faraway lands. The exclusiveness is further highlighted by the location of Raveloe, which is a village nestled in a snug well wooded hollow, quite an hour s journey on horseback from any turnpike . This does have significant impacts on their social relationships, for narrow minded villagers, who do not travel frequently, appear to be vastly prejudiced and are not willing to welcome new or seemingly strange looking people, which leads to much social segregation, misunderstanding ... • 10. Communism Socialist And Communism Part I proved what should be obvious: That governments are composed of groups of people and that socialist and communist governments are groups of people who collectively and directly own or regulate the means of production. Thus, the Leftist talking point that failed socialist and communist regimes of the past and present weren t really socialist and communist has been shown to be a lie. In this part we will demonstrate that the practical implications of this deception are dysfunctional in the extreme because their programme can only be implemented by force of arms and governments never give up power voluntarily. It can be shown via the logic of the dictionary definitions that governments are merely groups of people with the authority to govern a particular region, state or nation. And that socialist and communist governments are merely groups of people who collectively own or regulate the means of production. One is supposed to ignore the obvious and instead pretend that a group of people collectively and directly owning or regulating the means of production is some other vague entity but not a government. The socialists will also insist that these reality defying facts absolve them of any responsibility for the mass murder and repression by the people collectively and directly owning or regulating the means of production. And why would they try to deceive the world over something like that? How are the Socialist s grandiose plans for a Worker s Paradise ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Assisted Suicide Imagine being diagnosed with a life ending disease and experiencing such excruciating pain that doctors say cannot be healed. Pain is a terrible thing to experience, especially when it is permanent. What can be done to relieve that pain? What if the only option to rid the pain from the patient is death? No one knows how that feels until it happens to them, that is why assisted suicide is used. Assisted suicide is a practice throughout most of the United States that terminates the lives of dying patients. This process is when patients are in agonizing pain that is too overwhelming to bear; therefore they beg physicians to end their lives. Physicians have the ability to end a patient s life by withholding medication or removing the patient from a life supporting device. Patients have to meet certain requirements before the procedure can be completed. Many people wish that this practice was legal, but there are others that do not believe in it. Legalized physician assisted suicide is not common in all areas throughout the United States. There are many different views about physician assisted suicide, and the subject is a rather touchy one to discuss. To obtain a good yield of the ester produced, Le Chatelier s principle is exploited to remove excess water and form more ester product, by the addition of excess carboxylic acid. Micro boiling point allows for the measuring of a liquid compounds boiling point through the usage of the Mel Temp. The heating of the sample will release air bubbles inside of the inverted bell, which will fill with the vapor from the sample, when the heat is turned off and the last bubble exits the bell, the atmospheric pressure is equal to the vapor pressure of the sample, giving the boiling point, which can help identify a sample. IR spectroscopy measures the IR absorbance of a compound, and because each functional group has unlike IR absorbance, they can be used to identify a compound. Gas chromatography evaporates a sample and separates it using a carrier gas, which reaches the detector giving out a retention time. Different compounds have different retention times, so when the GC of an unknown is compared to a known standard, the sample can be identified. Any flashing is not exposed. When using the open cut valley roofing method the flashing is visible. Open cut valleys may be used to create visual interest or enhance features on some design styles. Some contractors will use ice and water shield under the shingles, others will choose to install metal flashing. Further, some contractors will install both for extra protection. A professional roofing contractor will consider many factors and make a recommendation as to the best method and style for the specific project. A detailed estimate will include these recommendations. RIDGE ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Why The 1981 Failed At Reforming Social Security Under The... The reasons why the 1981 attempt at reforming Social Security under the Reagan administration failed, as detailed in Chapter 8 of Martha Derthick and Steven M Teles The Reagan Presidency: Pragmatic Conservatism and its Legacies, boils down to the following factors: it did not have a clear goal in mind about Social Security reform (Derthick, Teles 187), it had a poor working relationship with Congress on the issue (Derthick, Teles 185), and leadership, on part of the president, was lacking (Derthick, Teles 192). In contrast, the attempt at reforming welfare in the 90s, as chronicled in Chapter 4 of Gary Bryner s The Great American Welfare Reform Debate Politics and Public Morality, was successful because the Clinton administration worked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Those who have paid into the system expect to get their money back when they retire, which makes cutting benefits politically hazardous and explains, in part, why the Reagan Administration s attempt at reforming Social Security failed. Social Security was facing insolvency if steps were not taken to resolve the gap between benefits going out and tax receipts being collected (Derthick, Teles 183). This prompted many actors in the political sphere to take part in the reform effort. The most influential actors in this process were Office of Management and Budget director David Stockman, Speaker of the House Tip O Neill, President Reagan, Congress, and the Department of Health and Human Services. As a political actor, David Stockman was not too interested in the possible political repercussions of Social Security reform. Instead, he was mainly focused on the budget cutting aspect of reform, irrespective of Congress reaction. Stockman was the main proponent of the administration s Social Security reform proposal sent to Congress that had deep and immediate cuts in benefits for early retirees (Derthick, Teles, 184). When Congress saw this proposal, they quickly disowned it (Derthick, Teles, 184). Speaker of the House Tip O Neill used this reform proposal and its ensuing rebuff from Congress to his political advantage; as a result, Democrats would forever portray ... • 42. Engine Removal Research Paper The removal of a internally damaged engine from your personal car or truck may seem like a daunting task, but in reality, with the proper tools, equipment, and work space, it can be done within a 6 hour time frame. Having the proper space to pull the motor is the number one key to the engine removal. There will be components of the motor that will have to be disassembled at certain periods during the removal process and if there is no space to lay the parts, then where are you going to put the motor? The proper tools and equipment is another major concern of an engine removal. Not all the bolts and nuts that hold the motor and its components together are not always the same size, and sometimes certain bolts and nuts are in tight spaces so only certain sized ratchets or wrenches will fit to loosen them. Also, there are specialty tools for loosening ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Usually 2 separate pans are needed. One is for oils, such as motor oil and power steering fluid, and the other is for antifreeze. If the antifreeze fluid is relatively new, it can be saved and reused. The oil on the other hand should not be reused because if the engine is internally damaged, there may be small bits of metal in the oil that cannot be seen as well as sludge that can build up making a motor work harder. Normally the oil filter is left on to keep oil from dripping. Once all the oil and antifreeze are drained, replace the plugs and tighten. Also, if the vehicle has a working air conditioner system, a recovery machine is needed to recycle the Freon out of the system. The system is under high pressure and Freon depletes the ozone layer, so only a certified technician can handle Freon. Even if your AC compressor is locked up, the system may still have Freon still in its lines. If you are planning an engine swap, it is best to have a local auto shop recover your Freon for you before starting the engine removal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Summary Of Man Ray s Disarming Venuses In the essay, Man Ray s Disarming Venuses: Deconstructing the Classical Torso in Surrealist Photography, the author, Kirsten A. Hoving, examines photographs created by Man Ray and how it relates to the classical Venus sculptures. By using Man Ray s idea of deconstructing the classical female torso in fragments, body doubling corsets, and formless figures, the author argues how those characteristics communicate the meaning of eroticism and power within Surrealist photography and literature. Within the first argument, the author explains how the Surrealist artists drew their inspiration of the female torso from the ancient mythological god, Venus. Hoving noted that the artists explored ways which the human body can appear as fragments and how it could be used systematically. Hoving stated how the Surrealist found the female torso as a metaphor and metamorphosis (123). The Surrealist artist went further through the exploration of the human figure, and shocking the viewers in their depiction of mutilated, or distorted bodies. In the 1930s, such visions have had provided the artist due to the horrors that were placed upon World War I veterans, as they were left limbless or using prosthetics. • 45. Postconventional Schema Appendix 1 see James Rest (1974), for the Defining Issues Test. This test has been devised under the influence of Lawrence Kohlberg s moral reasoning stages, uses a Likert scale to give quantitative ratings and rankings of issues of five moral dilemmas. The scale constitutes of 12 issues that are to be rated in terms of importance to the corresponding dilemma and then rank the four most important issues. The respondent will either score on three specific schemas of moral reasoning: Personal Interests, Maintaining Norms, and the Post conventional Schema. When a respondent reads an issue statement that both makes sense to them, as well as triggers a preferred schema, that statement is given a high rating and ranking. Conversely, when a respondent reads an issue statement that is either construed as nonsensical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Maintaining Norms Schema is considered more advanced than the Personal Interests Schema, as it emphasizes more than the individual. At the Maintaining Norms reasoning level, law and authority are important, as each of these helps to uphold social order, which is paramount to this schema. So, a respondent who is predominantly using this schema will take into consideration what needs to be done in order to be compliant with the social order of society. Finally, the Postconventional Schema is regarded as the most developmentally advanced. At the Postconventional reasoning level, laws are not simply blindly accepted (as with the Maintaining Norms Schema), but are scrutinized in order to ensure society wide benefit. So, a respondent who is primarily using this schema will focus on what is best for society as a whole. For example, the Civil Rights movement was a product of Postconventional reasoning, as followers were most concerned with the society wide effects of (in)equality. It should be noted that, though an individual may rely more heavily on one of the aforementioned schemas, moral reasoning is typically informed, to varying degrees, by each of ... Barbara Lazear Ascher, born in 1946, writes, On Compassion. Having lived in New York City, Ascher is able to take first hand examples from the city to show the affection people have towards each other. Ascher appeals to pathos in her essay in order to compel the readers to feel compassion towards the victims. She contributes to pathos in her quote, The man s grin is less the result of circumstance than dreams or madness (46). The audience feels for this young man and the tough circumstances he is going through. The man is dressed so poorly that he is being mistaken as a mad man by the spectators. The readers instantly feel empathy for this man in the form of compassion. Ascher appeals to logos in order to define compassion in her quote, For the ancient Greeks, drama taught and reinforced compassion within a society (48).
