Reflection Paper On Observation Of A Student
Over the past month I have been observing in Lebanon High school in a biology class. During my
time in this class I have observed a lot and have had a lot of great opportunities that have helped
open my eyes toward teaching, and the skills that are necessary to be successful in the field. While
there I had the opportunity to work with a student with learningdisabilities. During this interaction I
learned how to best work with those who have a learning disabilityand that it takes the ability to
think outside the box when trying to explain to the student what the task is so that they are able to
understand what they are being asked to do.
While observing the student with learning disabilities I observed a few interesting qualities that this
student had that stood out from the other students. One of the qualities that I observed was that he
was quiet. Unlike the rest of his class who would turn around and talk with the kids behind them, he
would just sit there and wait for further instructions. Another interesting observation that I made
was that my student would be interested in his work, but as time went on he began to loose
interest in his work and would need someone to remind him to stay on task which was one of his
accommodations. I found that his ability to become unmotivated was more prevalent when he was
taking notes with the class off the smart board compared to when the class was in a group
discussion and the teacher was asking open ended questions.

The Heat Transfer Of A Forced Draft Cooling
Abstract
The aim of this experiment is to analyse the heat transfer of a forced draft cooling water tower
and to perform energy and mass balances on the system. The system consisted of a single cooling
tower where the heated water flowed down the tower, while air flow was directed against the water
flow. In the system the energyconsumption of the heating element, the flow rate of the heated
water and pressure could be adjusted. Measured properties in the system include the wet and dry
bulb temperatures at the inlet and outlet, the temperature of the water in and out, the make up
temperature and the pressure. The power to the heat is predetermined as well as the water mass flow
rate. The enthalpy, absolute humidity and the specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Water is more commonly used due to its higher heat transfer coefficient, resulting in a smaller
required surface area for cooling. The downside to water based cooling systems is that once the
water has heated it must be cooled before it can be used again, this is a problem when trying to
minimalise heat pollution. Due to the need for cooling of the water used, systems such as
cooling water towers were developed. This is the most common method of cooling for
recirculated water in chemical process industries. While water is fed down the tower, a cooling
air flow is fed up through a system of slats that will increase the surface area of the water being
cooled. As water falls down through the tower some of it will evaporate, this acts to further cool
the stream as more heat is expelled in the form of latent heat. The aim of this report is to analyse
the heat transfer of a forced draft cooling tower and to perform energy and mass balances on the
system. The Bench Top Cooling Tower H891, with six thermometer readings, two wet and dry
bulbs at the top and bottom of the system, was put into a steady state where measurements were
made.

Descriptive Essay On Copenhagen
Copenhagen is arguably one of Europe s most beautiful cities. The multi color merchant houses
along the Nyhavn port area have been an unforgettable image of the city since they were built in
the 12th century. For over 250 years, well to do travelers have all used the same address, a city
icon and national treasure, the Hoteld Angleterre, Copenhagen s grand dame of hotels and one of
the finest hotels in all of Europe. https://vimeo.com/157992884 Known as the white lady, Hotel d
Angelterre 250 year history is the history this of Copenhagen itself. This city icon has been the site
of many of Denmarks political, royal, and national events and has welcomed elites from kings, and
heads of state to pop and movie stars.
The hotel could not be in a better position to take in all the Copenhagen has to offer guests. Many
of the city s most coveted attractions are in walking distance as is the metro which is less than a
block away. Aside from strolling along the waterfront and Nyhavn which is steps away, guest may
want to visit the changing or the guards at the Amalienborg Palace, a play at the Royal Danish
Theatre or take a fascinating boat ride around the city. For the fashionista, there are walking streets
full of major fashion brands and designer boutiques nearby.
Hotel d Angelterre is a grand palais building with a baroque and neoclassical design, white in color
with ornate detail in the façade. The hotel s nattily dressed doorman, in top hat and tails, greets

Essay On Computer Technology
Computer technology is one of the key drivers in the twenty first century. The technology has led to
new business models and new types of businesses. Higher education institutes are now spending
million to implement computer technology projects like institute management, campus
management, student management etc. computertechnologies could save higher education institutes
millions of dollars. Computer technology is the design and construction of computers to better help
people at work, school, home, etc. An incredible development in the higher education has made the
administration of higher education institutions difficult. Computer technology helps to minimize
the difficulty and improve the overall administration of higher education... Show more content on

This streamline process requires useful integration of technologies into existing context in order to
provide learners with knowledge of specific subject areas to promote meaningful education and to
improve professional efficiency.
An increasing number of colleges and universities are adopting computer technologies as teaching
and learning tools. Oliver and Wright (2002) reported in the near future technologies may be
required for all students and institutions. As per the study of Roper (2006) and Rice and Miller
(2001) Colleges and universities more and more rely on technology for both business and academic
operations. Most educational institutions have made a significant investment in developing a
computing infrastructure within the institution. Roper (2006) and Lau (2003) described one of the
most common challenges for higher education institutions is dealing with change and the role of
technology. Students are feeling the impact of technology in all areas of the educational experience
from recruitment efforts, to admissions processes, to its use as a teaching tool. Large technological
resources are being dedicated to student recruitment and retention, along with specific promotion
efforts to attract better students.

Abstract
Baroque was born in Italy, and later adopted in France, Germany, Netherlands, and Spain. The
word baroque was first applied to the art of period from the late 1500s to the late 1700s, by critics
in the late nineteen century. Baroque covers a wide range of styles and artists. In painting and
sculpture we recognize three main forms of Baroque:
Baroque that was primarily associated with the religious tensions within Western Christianity:
division on Roman Catholicism and Protestantism. In response to the Protestant Reformation of the
early sixteen century, the Roman Catholic Church had embarked in the 1550s ... Show more content

Newton And Einstein Research Paper
Newton and Einstein have changed science dramatically. They didn t just change the scientific
world, they conveyed many ideas and statements that would modified it for centuries to come.
Without Newton and Einstein s discoveries we wouldn t be where we are in the scientific world
today. First of all Newton developed the theory of gravity, he created the laws of motion, and he
created a new and better version of math called calculus. Newton was an English Physicist and
also a Mathematician. One of his very famous quotes is I can calculate the motion of heavenly
bodies, but not the madness of people . There was also a scientist named Albert Einstein. Albert was

year and then sent to primary school. After entering school Albert did not like authority and was
often rude and cocky to them, making many teachers not like him. He attended school and tried,
but many teachers said he would never go far in life because of problems he had in school .
Einstein was also Jewish, so this causes many problems for him since he lived in Germany right
around the time the Nazi were invading. But these traits would help make these ordinary men
become a face that no one ever forgot. He conquered the obstacles and started to go to college at
Trinity. At college he focused most of his time in math and physicsand graduated in 1900 with a

Shakespeare s Motives In Macbeth
Motives are a part of people s everyday lives. People use motives to explain why they did
something. William Shakespeare is a well known play writer from the 1600s. Shakespeare is
known for his tragedies like Macbeth. Macbeth was written between 1606 1607 and published in
the First Folio of 1623 (Bevington). Shakespeare uses motives to explain why Macbethkills king
Duncan of Scotland and many of his loyal followers. Shakespeare wrote many motives for Macbeth
to use but some of those motives are more important than others. The main motives of Macbeth are
the three witches, ambition, and Lady Macbeth. The three witches are the main motive of Macbeth.

Once lady Macbeth found out about what the three witches told Macbeth she was determined to
do everything in her power to make sure it came true. Lady Macbeth told Macbeth he had to kill
King Duncan in order to get the crown but Macbeth did not want to kill Duncan until Lady
Macbeth called him a coward. Lady Macbeth told Macbeth that if he did not kill Duncan then he
was not a man. Shakespeare never wastes words, and least of all in Macbeth. Lady Macbeth is
first introduced to us reading the latter portion of a letter she has just received from her husband,
telling her of his meeting with the witches and of their prophesy that he is to be king. The letter,
and Lady Macbeth s soliloquy which follows, describe Macbeth s character and interpret her own.
They show us many things that Lady Macbeth is the source of his mental strength and resolution,
that they have talked over the situation of affairs in the kingdom, with all its possibilities, both
those which may be depended upon to come unaided and those which may be forced to an issue
(Gerwig). Lady Macbeth is the mastermind behind the killing of
King Duncan she gets into Macbeth s head and convinces him the killing Duncan is the only way
to fulfil the prophecy from the witches. Lady Macbeth goes on to say that if Macbeth does not kill
Duncan then he is not a true man. Lady Macbeth pushed Macbeth into killing king Duncan she was

Barriers to Health Promotion and Disease Prevention
Health promotion has been defined as the process of enabling people to increase control over their
health and to improve it. This process requires personal participation and supportive environments.
For people with disabilities, however, personal participation is often limited by non supportive
environments. Lack of knowledge on how to modify programs to meet specific needs, poor
attitudes, and unfriendly environments often creates insurmountable barriers to participation for
many people with disabilities. While innovative medical technology has increased the life span of
individuals with disabilities, little attention has focused on improving their healthspan. The

frequently a disease affects a group, how many people get sick, or how often the disease causes

Racial and ethnic minorities
Residents of rural areas
Women, children, the elderly
Persons with disabilities
While better nutritional habits are a major concern for most people with and without disabilities,
there may be some specific differences in diet and nutrition guidelines pertaining to people with
specific types of disabilities. Issues related to accessing healthy foods, determining food
interactions with commonly used medications to control various secondary conditions ( pain,
seizures, depression), and establishing specific requirements for food supplements ( vitamins,
minerals, fluid intake) are all major concerns among people with certain disabilities. For
example, people with spinal cord injury have a higher rate of bone loss after their injury, which
increases their risk of osteoporosis. A few studies on persons with cerebral palsy and Down
syndrome have also reported a higher incidence of osteoporosis. While it is the recommended
daily allowance for calcium intake and vitamin D may need to be increased for certain types of
disabilities to offset the rate of bone loss, recommended guidelines are not available. There are little

Human and Computers Interaction
Human Computer Interaction we are all familiar with, a trait characteristic of all humankind that
emerged in the early 1980s that started embracing computer science and human factors that would
interact with computer. There has been study of how the users of computers utilize them to
complete tasks in the environment they will finally be used in. Human ComputerInteraction is not
just designed for one user and then another user comes along to use it. When been created an HCI
system it would have to be considering how the users will interact with computer devices. Human
Computer Interaction all aspects have been included in the tasks to be completed, in the technology
that will be used by the user (e.g. input/output), how they will interact with the system. Therefore,
human computer interaction has become increasingly popular and is important to our society. Over
one hundred years ago before, the word computer started to appear in our dictionary people didn t
even know what a computer is. Now Human Computer Interaction has expanded rapidly and
steadily over three decades. Until the late 1970s, the only humans who interacted with computers
were information technology professionals and dedicated hobbyists. This changed disruptively with
the emergence of personal computing in the later 1970s. Personal computing, including both
personal software (productivity applications, such as text editors and spreadsheets, and interactive
computer games) and personal computer platforms

Internet Censorship of Child Porngraphy Essay
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor
safety. Benjamin Franklin.
Technically speaking, internet censorship is difficult to achieve. Proponents of this measure seem
to have neglected the fact that putting in place a system of surveillance requires the establishment
of clear, unalterable rules. But often, such a task can be almost unfeasible since it is quite
problematical to define precisely the information that is supposed to be blocked. In the context of
hate speech for example, it is important to acknowledge the existence of a line between criticism,
whether it is constructive or not, and pure animosity.

When it comes to legal videos that may be inappropriate, the team instantly resorts to age
restriction. Both of these internet giants encourage free speech while supervising it and immediately
removing content that is clearly offensive to the general public. This concept of self regulation is a
good alternative to extensive Internet censorship, since the website only has its own contents to
focus on, rather than having an entire system of surveillance watching over the web, with the risk
of it making errors in the process. Most importantly, the main idea behind these guidelines is not
censorship, but moral, reasonable control.
We should not let the government interfere and impose its draconian laws. Censorship is nothing
but a violation of fundamental civil rights, starting with freedom of speech. By defying the First
Law of Amendment (reference), internet surveillance will only give the government greater power
to run our lives. Without our free will and autonomy, we are helpless, incapable of making a
change. The Internet is a place that promotes freedom, in all its forms. Web surfers connect to each

Breast milk is one of the best milk mothers give to their babies after childbirth to nourish the body

The Distributive Style Of Negotiation
How do we explore getting more in the deal than what was originally discussed? Some may not
feel making the deal should mean adding more to it than the original bargain There is a lot of,
what is in it for me? And what do we get out of this deal? Negotiation deals have either
integrative or distributive properties. What are the contrasts between these two styles and what
are their comparisons? This paper will explore the styles and how they are able to help expand
the deal. The distributive style of negotiation is where both parties discuss a fixed sum or end
state. Usually, one of the sides loses and the other gains. A gain by one side is made at the
expense of the other. This is also known as a zero sum negotiation (Negotiating Outcomes, 2007).
The integrative negotiation allows both parties to cooperate and achieve maximum outcomes
from the agreement. It is done by allowing both sides to integrate their interests into the
agreement. Each side makes trade offs to get the things it values most, giving up other, less
critical factors (Negotiating Outcomes, 2007). These two styles are the basics of negotiation.
One is more helpful in expanding the deal. The term, expanding the pie , should be interpreted as
building a larger agreement. Remember, it is not about gaining power at the expense of other.
Your having more power doesn t mean less power for the other person. The pie is expanded
(Diamond, S., 2010). What is expanding the pie? It is

In the case sub judice, the County introduced seventeen pieces of evidence to be relied upon by
the Board when rendering its decision. Floyd failed to object to the introduction of any of the

Parietal Lobe Research Paper
The cerebral cortex is the largest outer most part of the brain. It consist of tissue known as gray
matter which is made of neuronal bodies. The optimal function of the cerebral cortex is vitally
important. All information necessary to sustain life is stored and processed in the cerebral cortex.
The tissue are divided into the left and right sides which are joined together by the corpus callosum.
The cerebral cortexis divided into four lobes, the frontal, parietal, occipital, and temporal lobe.
Each area carrying its own set of functions and responsibilities. These four lobes together make up
the primary somatosensory area of the brainwhich controls the five sensory systems in the brain

The Capture Of Jerusalem
The Crusades were a series of wars over the holy lands such as Jerusalem between European
Christians and the Ottoman Empire between the 11th and 15th centuries. They fought for many
reasons such as control over religious sights, access to trade and protection of fellow christians.
According to the Christian Faith Jerusalem holds significant religious importance due to the
crucifixion of Jesus Christ and many other important religious sites. This is detailed in The
Capture of Jerusalem by John France Jerusalem had a special place in the religion and culture of
medieval europefor it was the place Christ had died and his empty tomb in the church of the holy
sepulchre was the very symbol of christian belief . Pope Urban II called for the crusadesto secure
these sites for christians in that area and around the world. These sites also hold a religious

within the present year, and assist in evaluating the managers and their agencies. To specify the
source of fluctuations the managers are required to investigate and justify to top management the
reason why the difference occurred. There are numerous reasons behind fluctuations, which
have to be recognized and maintained if possible. (Finkler, 2007) While calculating the nursing
expense results from different units for a pay period, there have been some favorable and
unfavorable fluctuations. While examining the expense record the paid original hour s
difference was within the budget and the paid nonproductive hour s difference was 60 hours
over the predicted time period. The unexpected difference of paid nonproductive time period
could have happened as a result of some employees being on adapted duty, sick leave, conference
time, or training time, which means that they are primarily getting paid with no patient care
needed. The overtime percentage of hour s difference was 7 .5% over the budget and the registry
percentage of hour s difference was 8 .0% over the budget, both of these are unfavorable. The
overtime could have been the result of bad time management strategies, late arrival of the
following shift, or working past shift hours as a result of a low

The Role Of The Blind Man In Flannery O Connor s Cathedral

Humans Were Hunters And Gatherers
Prehistorically, we find that humans were hunters and gatherers. They would hunt animals for the
meat and they would gather fruits and vegetables that were grown naturally for their food. After
some time, people discovered that they could do agriculture instead and doing that greatly increased
the amount of food that people could grow and store. Agriculturechanged everything with regards
to how the human society was built. This was because when the people would forage, there was
no way for them to store the food for a long time, as the meat would and the fruits/vegetables would
go bad if it was left out in the open for extended amounts of time. This meant that they had to be
huntingand gathering throughout the year, meaning that most of their lives and time would be
spent looking for food. However, with agriculture, came a boom with regards to food production.
People had more food that they could store and eat anytime. This gave way to people having more
time on their hands, which meant they could pursue other aspects of the society, such as politics
and art. In this regard we find that the foraging societies were much more egalitarian compared to
agricultural societies. Many people have sought to answer the question why such foraging societies
tended to be more egalitarian. It has to be noted that during the twentieth century, anthropologists
found and were able to study many different hunter gatherer societies in the modern world that lived
in the more remote parts of

California Musical Instruments
Despite their failure to convert them religiously through music, the natives were left with a Spanish
influence because even after secularization they continued to use European instruments such as:
Violins, violas, and guitars (Ray and Engbeck 1974:16) and most stopped using native instruments.
Because of this neglect, there only remains fragmentary evidence outside of a few early
ethnographies and written descriptions of events in the California missions on native music, while
several hundred European style musical instruments were being played in California. (Ray and

But the musicians and singers were in the worst position because their abilities proved to be
nearly useless outside of the missions their only realistic option was to stay in the parish

and their jobs were completely unlike those that translated well into this new society physical
labor jobs such as being a vaquero or simply knowing how to work with animals and agriculture.
This lack of easy transition to the Mexican Californio society may have actually helped solidify
Spanish influence over those involved in mission music. This inability to survive outside of the
missions forced them to continue practicing their abilities in the parish churches, while some of
them embraced their situations. This was most true for the choristers who persevered in practicing
their new religion and remained loyal to the missions even after freed from the secularization

Safe Injection Site in Vancouver Eastside Essay
The Effect of Safe Injection Sites in Vancouver, British Columbia A safe injection site (SIS) has
been placed in Vancouver s Downtown Eastside where drug use is a challenging problem. The
program is a vital piece of the cities known harm reduction approach to its serious problems with
homelessness, drugs, crime and AIDS. Canada has drastically shifted its method. Going from
punishing drug users to establishing the plan of harm reduction. Since 2003 when the supervised
SIS opened, it has presented a safe health focused center where drug users have access to inject
illegal drugs using sterile equipment in a clean environment under the supervision of medically
trained professionals. Although there are some serious concerns about the... Show more content on

Results of safe injection site studies have shown that an expansion may have a greater impact.
This may reduce the chance of dangerous encounters between users of these safe injection sites
and the public. Children not even out of elementary school, were getting involved in the drug
scene. These runaways were a concern to the residents, who witnessed overdoses in the past
decade. Over 2,000 lives were lost due to the Downtowns East side s drug fuelled spiral
(MacQueen et al., 2003). Persisting the safe injection site can help in lowering risk behaviors by
the drug users of SIS s and community concerns that are related to public injection of drugs
(McKnight et al,. 2007). Overall, SIS s may have the ability to change the drug users and transform
them into potential productive members of society.
Effect of Insite on Future Generations
It is suggested that since Insite was created, it has been sending the wrong message to the youth of
Vancouver stating that injection drug use is acceptable and has support. This approach is unlikely
and naГЇve. There is evidence shown that the total number of drug users in cities with SIS s has
decreased. The introduction of SISs is being understood as that drug use is right. Rather than it is
limited, self contained, and is a responsible harm reduction facility that responds to urgent health
risks. Harm reduction is defined as an ideology viewing drug use as

Roe vs Wade
In 1973, the Supreme Court made a decision in one of the most controversial cases in history, the
case of Roe v. Wade (410 U.S. 113 (1973)), in which abortion was legalized and state anti abortion
statues were struck down for being unconstitutional. This essay will provide a brief history and
analysis of the issues of this case for both the woman s rights and the states interest in the matter.
Also, this essay will address the basis for the court ruling in Roe s favor and the effects this
decision has had on subsequent cases involving a woman s right to choose abortion in the
United States. The court s decision created legal precedent for several subsequent abortion
restriction cases and has led to the development of legislation to protect women s health rights.
Although the Supreme Court s decision in Roe v. Wade was a historic victory for women s
rights, it is still an extremely controversial subject today and continues to be challenged by
various groups. Roe v. Wade Case Law Analysis Before 1973, abortion access was determined by
state legislature for each individual state with no consistency across the United States. Some states
allowed abortions but most state statues heavily restricted or completely banned abortion. The
restricted states would generally only allow abortion in the event of rape, incest, fetal anomalies,
or the woman s life is at risk. The state of Texas enforced a state statute that made it illegal for an

Strict Dress Codes
Schools Should Not Have Dress codes
Between 2009 and 2010 19% of schools required uniforms and 57% of schools enforce a strict dress

think by having strict dress codes are safer and keep the focus on education, but enforcing a strict

Schools should not have dress codes because they become gender bias, they stunt the growth of

This is suggested from the Nancy and Harvey Heffner experience. When the couple s son became
sick hotel staff brought him tea at all hours of night. This implies that all departments (restaurant,
reception, room service) were involved and worked very closely with each other to provide this
service.
The feedback is very important part in the transformational process as it allows continues
improvement to be made after receiving customers feedbacks. This therefore will inevitably
minimise any complaints in the future. The examples of collecting feedback from the customers
can be by surveys of departing guests, comment cards, telephone surveys, oral feedback between the
customer and the staff. Some 94% report that they ve had a truly memorable experience. (case

In hotel operations there is a balance between the facilities and staff as one cannot function without
another. When looking at the model above, the transformation processes such as materials,

Compare And Contrast Rome And Grecians
Religion and government played an important role in lives of Grecians and Romans during
ancient times. Both nations were polytheistic and militaristic, however only Rome switched to
Christianity, broke up, (rather than collapsed), after national conflict and was centralized. Both
Grecians and Romans were polytheistic. Because Greece and Rome were two of the earliest
civilizations, the ignorance of this earlier time prevailed. People were unsure of why certain
events could occur, (like the rising and setting of a sun), and set out to delegate a position and
meaning for all of the Gods they dreamed up. Failure to appease these Gods would result in
punishment. For example the sun wouldn t rise or the crops would die. Sacrifices were often given

The Battle Of The Spanish Civil War
It s safe to say that, even if someone claims to know little to nothing about Spain s history, the
names Franco, Hitler, and Mussolini ring a bell in their mind. Simply being able to recognize
these names proves some knowledge on the subject of the Spanish Civil War, lasting from 1936
to 1939. For those who are unsure as to what qualifies as a civil war, dictionary.com defines it as, a
war between parties, factions, or inhabitants of different regions within the same nation . In the case
of the Spanish Civil War, the fight was between the Spanish republican government and the
Nationalist military. Representative of the impeding power struggle between extremists in support
of fascismand communism, the war began on July 18th, 1936 as an uprising by several Spanish
officers. This uprising would spark the three year Spanish civil war that ultimately resulted in a 40
year dictatorship.
The left wing was referred to as the loyalists and the republicans. The groups that supported and
comprised the republican cause were workers, peasants and trade unions, the Spanish government,
and the three factions, the socialists, communists, and anarchists. In addition to these groups, the
International Brigades, including the Abraham Lincoln Brigade, which was made of American

Disabled In The Game Of Thrones Stereotypes
The Disabled in the Game of Thrones Bringing Elsewhere Home: A Song of Ice and Fire s
Ethics of Disability by Pascal J. Massie and Lauryn S. Mayer focuses on the disabled in the
popular book and tv series Game of Thrones. Season one episode 4 of the Game of Thrones titled,
Cripples, Bastards and Broken Things , features several characters that suffer from either an internal
or external disability. However, the primary two examples of disabled characters are Bran Stark
and Tyrion Lannister. Both characters suffer from very different disabilities, and unfortunately
they live in a pseudo medieval society in which disabilities are highly frowned upon. Their
social status in society is highly afflicted by their handicaps, but they are also lucky that they are
from noble houses that help elevate their status. Both characters have and develop different
ways to deal with their handicap. Bran Stark, is bed ridden after suffering a horrible fall from a
tower that caused him to be paralyzed from the waist down. Although not shown in this episode,
Bran was pushed from the tower due to the fact that he had seen something he was not meant to
see. Bran is crushed by his disability at first, it makes him feel quite useless as he has to get
carried around from place to place. Furthermore it greatly hinders his childhood dream of
becoming a noble warrior and prevents him from climbing, which is one of his greatest passions.

There are three ways Luther Nedeed is simultaneously a positive and negative role model for

This is important because it shows that people can feel a certain way, but in the end, actions

dream is possible but while achieving this dream, it causes some people to sell themselves out.
This is significant because it shows that if the prize to achieve the dream is the loss of one s soul

Homer Watercolor Essay
Introduction
Artists should never look at pictures, but should stutter in a language of their own. Winslow Homer
Watercolor, is a form or a type of pigment that is made up of water color pigment. No matter how
many layers of color is added the paint remains translucent. Watercolor paints were made during the
18th century. One of the characteristics of watercolor is that it helps add the white or light tint or
shade while making or forming an art piece.
When watercolor was brought out to the market it was brought directly from the painters in dry
clumps and the paint was made when they cut off the clay like substance to make the watercolor
paint.
But as time moved on the many styles and techniques and materials were used to make the

I also admire the display of each image. I think that Winslow Homer does an excellent job of
keeping the honor of keeping the subject and also effectively uses colors that match the mood of
the art piece in order to portray the art piece at its best. For example, in the picture I have shown
above about the two men fishing, the watercolor painting is the best medium for that topic and also
the way the colors help convey the message properly.
Also, I think that Winslow Homer paintings are so famous because of the way the work is so
distinct that it can relate to you a lot. The paintings that are made the topics are familiar to the
people who were there at that time. And that s why people like it because the painting conveys a
message to the audience about an issue or information about things going around the society.
Additionally, the audience doesn t have to put so much effort in figuring out what the message
means or what it is supposed to represent.

Humanitarian Intervention Research Paper
I.Introduction
In 2011, Operation Unified Protector performed air strikes over Libya, destabilizing the country and
enabling the murder of Libya s dictator of 42 years, Colonel Muammar al Gaddafi. The United
Nations Security Council justified the Libya Intervention for NATO allies on the grounds of an
imminent humanitarian crisis that was thought to occur at the direction of Gaddafi. Thus, the
United States, UNSC, and NATO allies are culpable for the humanitarian catastrophe in Libya and
the killing of Gaddafi, because of their misuse of Responsibility to Protect (R2P) for their
Humanitarian Intervention in 2011.
In this paper I will provide a brief history of relations between the U.S. and Libya since 1979 and

anticipated humanitarian crisis. I will examine the stated motivations behind the NATO backed

The Effects Of Technology On Communication
One can never deny that society s cultural ideals have changed dramatically in the past decades.
This is, in part, due to the changes in technological advances. These devices almost a complete
necessity as of 2017, since, from personal experience, many professors require students to use
technology to complete assignments and to turn them in. The past 10 years have also allowed for
sociable machines, as Sherry Turkle, a Professor of Social Studies of Science and Technologyat
MIT, explains in her book Reclaiming Conversation: The Power of Talk in a Digital Age. Many
machines today can be programmed to communicate or even provide services that a human being
could do, only do so flawlessly. While these advantages can be seen as something that can only
benefit people, Turkle explains that the reality of this phenomenon must be taken into deeper
consideration when concerning how this affects people psychologically.
Turkle examination on the long lasting effects that technology can have on conversation begins
with the story of an experience she had conversing with a school who worried that their students
were beginning to lose empathy and find it difficult to connect or to make friends because they
were raised not knowing a life without advanced technology or social media. The excessive use of
technology created a sort of barrier that prevented people from joining into deep and important
conversations and from joining them without distraction. (Turkle 5) She goes beyond this

Rwanda Genocide Essay
Imagine living a life of fear, turmoil, with death all around. Hearing gun shots being fired, death
chants, machete use, dead bodies everywhere. Afraid to close your eyes at night to rest, yet more
afraid to wake up in the morning. To sustain your life and the life of your loved ones you must

changing social states of mind and guidelines. Sports has likewise observed advances in methods
and accomplishments in records and levels that mirror the dedication by sportsman, sportswomen
and preparing to be the best. Designs now regularly reflect sports attire, somewhat due to the cash
infused into games by mold houses and mostly on account of our yearning to imitate our saints and
champions.

Games and business have turned out to be everlastingly connected, even in school, which is
apparently played by beginners and not experts, in spite of the way that the mentors and athletic

Companions in Artificial IntelligenceRuben Damian Corbo
University of the People
Artificial Intelligence has always been a very interesting subject to me from the time I watched
any film from the Terminator series (1984 2015) with the evil A.I. known as Skynet. Not all AI
is bad as we know from Steven Spielberg s A.I. (2001) and today Artificial Intelligence is far
from fiction. I ve always wondered how close could we get to a world where Artificial
Intelligence could become a companion, and in my research I have found that programmers and
inventors are already working on a companion to ease the sense of loneliness we all feel from time
to time.
There could be a lot of reasons why someone would want some form of companionship when real
life presence is not readily available. Katie Collins (2013) quotes, Like any proud parent whose kids
leave home, Hayashi had a void to fill. He s doing that by creating a robot

Your Inner Fish Book Review
1. Neil Shubin, author of Your Inner Fish, and his colleagues travel to Ellesmere Island to look
for and study the shift from fish living in water to creatures living on land (4). Fossils from 360
million years ago include amphibians and reptiles. Fossils 385 million years old, only fish are
found. Because of this, Shubin and his colleagues look at the time in the middle of this, 375
million years ago (10). In 2004, they give it another try, after failed previous tries (21). What
gradually emerges from the rocks they searched for in the bottom of the quarry is an intermediate
right between fishand land animals, Tiktaalik, large freshwater fish (22 25).
2. Tiktaalik has scales and fins, like a fish. It also has a flat head and a neck, like

Chuck Berry Biography
Chuck Berry is known by many as the Father of rock n roll. Berry was born in St. Louis Missouri
on October 18, 1926. Growing up Chuck wasn t the most innocent person. By the age of 17 he had
dropped out of school and was sent to jail for being involved in an armed robbery. In the early 1950
s, after getting out of jail early for good behavior, Chuck joined a band started playing in a jazz
club. By 1955 he was signed to chess records. His music style was a mix of country and blues.
Chuck wrote, preformed, and produced all his songs. In 1959 he released the album Berry is on
Top. The cover of Berry is on Top is a picture of an ice cream sundae with strawberries on top.
During this time period, sundaes were really popular. I think... Show more content on

It has a very fun and high school friendly feel to it. The album has 12 songs on it. The first song
on the album is called Almost Grown. When I listen to the song the first thing I noticed about it
was the course, Don t bother me, leave me alone. Anyways I m almost grown. I think this song is
the way for Chuck to tell people to leave me alone because he s been trying to get his life
together. Some of the instruments that I noticed were the guitar and the piano. The beat of the
song is very energetic and it made me want to dance. The next two songs on the album are called
Carol and Maybelline . Both of them are named after females. Carol has a very Hawaiian/beachy
feel to it. It sounds upbeat and groovy, but the lyrics kind of sound like a advice. For example,
Oh, Carol, don t let him steal your heart away. If feels like he s talking to younger girls about
being careful around men. I think this is something a high school girl in the 50 s would listen to.
Maybelline on the other hand has a very country/hillbilly feel to it. Sounds like a fun song to listen
to if you were drunk at a bar. It is a little faster than your average country song but it still works
really well with the instruments that are

Mental Cases And Disabled Essay
The price the survivors of war pay is through the loss of their own bodies and minds. In Wilfred
Owen s poems Mental Cases, and Disabled, the aftermath the devastating effect war has on the
people who participate in it is shown through the pitying voice of an outside speaker. Mental
Cases, focuses on the psychological trauma, showing soldiers who suffer from PTSD and shell
shock. Disabled, focuses on the physical trauma of the soldiers by describing one soldier who has
lost his legs and is permanently disfigured, rendering him unable to enjoy the rest of his life. The
psychological trauma of war portrayed in Mental Cases, is conveyed through the chilling, almost
hellish, diction used. The language in the poem carries a certain... Show more content on

Was it because someone had said he d look a god in kilts[?] Whatever the soldiers motivations
was, he volunteered as they wrote his lie: aged nineteen years. The soldier was not even of the
proper age to enlist in the army. No competent human being would purposely throw away their
knees or even pour their own blood down shell holes. Yet the final irony of the poem is that when
the soldier volunteered he purposely gave up all these things. The price of admission into the war
was his legs and the rest of his young

Good Vs Evil Essay
Living in a society constantly plagued by a scarcity of compassion, and hostility runs rampant, I
ve come to question the innate in people. Trying to consider the natural condition of people,
being whether it good or evil, I ve come to believe good exists as equally as evil. And as one
resists the other, both are on a conquest to defeat the other. Goods quest is to help; scattering
kindness, compassion, and love. Where evils quest is to carry out complete genocide against
everything good. Within the fight, the battle is finished by a choice, a choice being allowed to
conquer. This battle is fought in every human being. It should be said the choice between good and
evilis a free choice. Swimming through what seems like a dark murky lake, I ve searched for a
sliver of light, and too often come up discouraged, disappointed, and desperate. Sadly, people are
left deserted trying to latch onto the sliver of light. Believing in the choice for good, I was
sadden to encounter a sort of hatred I did not think to ever witness. Being a hopeless romantic
and consistently looking at life as if it is a poem ready to be written, my expectations for my act
of kindness were at a high peak. I ve often had a fascination with the homeless, and at times, even
a sort of envy towards them. To be able to float freely, unbound by society s confinements. When
deciding I wanted to sit down, eat, and talk with a homeless person, I looked forward to the mounds
of understanding I hoped to gain. But upon

Neo-Confucian And Mongol Dynasties
The Prompt
Throughout China s middle ages, Confucianism and neo Confucianism played a role in how society
and government worked. These influences started during the Song dynasty. When the Mongols
took over, Confucian ideas were carried over to their government making them an even stronger
power. How did Confucian and neo Confucian thought influence the Song and Mongol dynasties?
To begin with, the Song dynasty was one of the first dynasties to use neo Confucianism. This was a
new type of Confucianism that was essentially created to reduce Buddhism s popularity Neo
Confucianism taught that life in this world was just as important as the afterlife (Section 1 page
258). It was influenced by Buddhist and Daoist beliefs despite its similarity

William Bradford And Dekanawida In The Iroquois Constitution
William Bradford and Dekanawida were similar in many ways. Both were leaders in history, and
used their skills to unite people. Bradford helped organize and govern the Plymouth Colony.
Dekanawida organized and united five tribes through the Iroquois Constitution. Although they
belonged to do very different cultures and societies, they had many similarities. Bradford and
Dekanawida shared a common philosophy, rulemaking process, and belief in destiny. When
governing and leading their people, William Bradford and Dekanawida had the same philosophy.
They both strived to unite their people and maintain peace. When governing the new colonists of
the Plymouth colony, Bradford sought to create unity and work together. He wanted the colonists to

Another similarity between William Bradford and Dekanawida is the rules that they enforced
when leading their people. Both sets of rules and laws were centered around avoiding violence
and preserving the wellbeing of the society. In the Iroquois Constitution, Dekanawida states,
People of the Five Nations members of a certain clan shall recognize every other member of that
clan, irrespective of the Nation, as relatives. which basically means that tribe members should
treat each other kindly. Bradford probably had similar rules in the Plymouth Colony. These rules
are what allowed the success of the two groups. The final similarity between William Bradford
and Dekanawida is their belief in destiny. They both believe that a higher force is what led them
to take initiative. ...as by God s good providence they did. That quote from Of Plymouth
Plantation shows Bradford s belief in destiny. He believes that providence led him to take on his
role as a leader. Dekanawida s beliefs come mostly from his past. He even said that It is my
business to stop the shedding of blood among human beings. He interpreted events from his
childhood as a sign that he should continue living and unite the tribes. Both of those quotes
demonstrate how Bradford and Dekanawida believed in their own

Autobiography Of Central Dauphin High School
School Autobiography Located in the suburban and almost rural parts of Harrisburg sits Central
Dauphin High School, one of the largest public schools in the area, and my former high school.
The school is composed of around 1,708 students with my graduating class reaching about 420
kids. The student to teacher ratio is fifteen to one which is equal to the Pennsylvania average. Not
surprisingly, our school has a 23% minority enrollment ratio which is 8% less than the Pennsylvania
average. Also, only 16% of the students at Central Dauphin qualify for free lunch. When you
compare these numbers with our sister school, Central Dauphin East High School, there are some
surprising results. Central Dauphin East has a 65% minority enrollment rate with... Show more

It was a big transition for me to come from Central Dauphin to Temple and be surrounded by so
many exceptional individuals. The thing I most valued from this exercise was reiterating the
importance of academics but also learning the worth of social acceptance. It is never okay to
judge, make fun of, or attack someone else for being different from you. Diversity should be
celebrated, not hidden. Although I am thankful for my strong education and the academic
opportunities I was given, I think there is a lot more I need to learn about other cultures and races
that could never be learned within the walls of my high school. I am at college to continue my
education but to also start a new journey into the real world composed of all the wonderful beauties

playing for the first time in 1961 at the age of 15. He was motivated by the American rock and roll
and electric blues. Hendrix taught himself to play guitar as a young person, listening to records
by soul guitarists Sloppy Waters was one of them. He played in secondary school groups before

Carefully maintained bends of force harmonies that reproduced hints of bombs dropping, mounted
guns discharging, and maybe the indicated shouts of passing on people amidst an ethereal assault,
Hendrix recounts a direct story about the overwhelming occasions happening abroad in Vietnam
through his interpretation of the U.S. national anthem.
Hendrix s performance at Woodstock wasn t the same as his different forms of the song of praise,
and it can be found in the mind boggling relationship between the fleeting and topographical setting
of Woodstock and the dynamic gravitas created by the mental synchronization between artists and
group of the audience amid the live performance.
My opinion about this video is that it has a unique type of combination of instruments with
harmony among all of them. Hendrix was playing and singing with emotions all the time and I
saw this while he was playing his electric guitar closing his eyes. He seemed to be a left handed
person because he plays the guitar

Pre Screening For Disabilities And Genetic Enhancement
Pre screening for disabilities and genetic enhancement are vital factors in the decision to place
restrictions for selective genetic abortion. All human life should be of equal worth, supporting the
ideal that life and death decisions for seriously compromised newborns should not be based on the
quality of life (CITE 3). Screening for genetic diseases through the use of in vitro fertilization, or
IVF, limits and excludes those with disabilities from our society, exposing limits on morality. These
include transgression of divine laws, transgression of natural laws, introduction of an unacceptable
risk of harm, introduction of a threat to genetic diversity, introduction of a threat to one s common
genetic heritage, paradoxical counterproductively, a misuse of social resources, a widened gap
between the haves and have nots , promotion of social conformity and homogeneity, and lastly
undermining free choice (Fisher, 2013). From these points it is important to recognize the impact it
has upon our society, and how we perceive, and behave towards those with a disability. The practise
of introducing selective abortionthrough the use of IVF and genetic testing will create a hostile
environment going forward into the future for those who escape detection before birth. This will
cause potential discrimination against those with a disability, making them liable to be looked
down upon by the community and unfit to be alive (Fisher, 2013). Thus this can create a second
class or even a

The Geography of Panama and the Panama Canal Essay
The Geography of Panama and the Panama Canal
The Panama Canal is one of the greatest works of engineering and modern achievements of
mankind. An all water passage through the continental divide of the Panama region had been
suggested since early Spanish colonial times of the 16th century. Today a canal that was cut through
the Isthmus of Panama is a reality. It s presence has greatly affected Panama in many ways,
politically, economically, and socially. The Panama Canalis possibly one of the most well known
man made geographic features ever.
Only five days after the U.S. secured Panama s independence from Columbia, the first canal treaty
was signed with the United States. Signing the treaty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The canal is bordered on both sides by the Panama Canal Zone, a strip of land given to the United
States in 1903 but returned to Panama in 1979. The United States turned over the control of the
canal to Panama in 1999. While the Panama Canal is a bridge of water connecting two oceans,
building it ripped Panama apart.
For Panama the opening of the canal meant a great boom in it s economy. Panama has probably
earned about $200 million form the canal every year. In war or peace, more than 12,000 ships
from around the world sail through the fifty one mile long Panama Canal every year, carrying
160 million tons of cargo, representing about 5% of the worlds total sea borne trade. The canal
is particularly vital to the economies of South America, connecting the Atlantic coast with the
Orient, and the Pacific coast with Europe. Fifteen percent of all U.S. trade goes through the
canal, and the oil pipeline beside it caries 600,000 barrels of Alaska crude oil to the U.S. eastern
seaboard and beyond. Panama s special geography and history make its people the most
cosmopolitan in the region. Nearly 40 percent of all Panamanians have ancestors who were neither
Spanish nor Indian, but who had came to the isthmus over the last 110 years to build or traverse the
canal. Panama is a service economy, trading, financial, and transportation services account for three

The Artistic And Architectural Evidence For The Nubian...

ART 2813
March 6, 2017
Describe the artistic and architectural evidence for the Nubian assimilation of Egyptian forms and
ideas.
Nubians art and architecture is traced back hundreds of years. They urbanized one of the oldest and
utmost civilizations in their region until they lost their last empire years ago. Nubia was a land of
expected wealth and prosperity and Sudan had remained the main home of Nubians through their
long history, but many live in Egypt today. Nubian art impacted Egyptian Art through their past art
and architecture, one can see how glorious and influential these group of people were to the world.

These forms were perhaps used to satisfy the desire to fill the void with selected or mixed elements
that may have resulted in a kind of chaos or art. It can be distinguishing by the manner in which the
artist regulates the elements of his composition by reflecting all the elements of the design which
are used for functional and aesthetic purposes.
The Nubians were also remarkable in their architecture. Ancient constructions that appeared to be
palaces at their time are discovered throughout Northern Sudan. Archeologists excavated the
land and identified few dwellings that date back to the pre Kerma period. Remarkably large huts
reaching seven meters in diameter have been found and interpreted by some as residence of
wealthy individuals. The architectural materials, structures, and the presence of staircases in
most of the palaces suggest that they were mostly built of more than one floor. The majority of
the palaces had a rectangular or square plans with long corridors and narrow rectangular rooms.
The temples of the Kushite Kingdom were built of durable materials, such as red fired bricks and
stories that helped them to endure the ravages of time and nature. Temple columns were worked
with extensive designs curved to shape lotus flowers and the heads of gods Bes and Hathor. One
known Egyptian temple is The temple of Ramses II, and the temple of Nefertiti dedicated to
Hathor, they stood for a very long time, until they had a

  • 2. Reflection Paper On Observation Of A Student Over the past month I have been observing in Lebanon High school in a biology class. During my time in this class I have observed a lot and have had a lot of great opportunities that have helped open my eyes toward teaching, and the skills that are necessary to be successful in the field. While there I had the opportunity to work with a student with learningdisabilities. During this interaction I learned how to best work with those who have a learning disabilityand that it takes the ability to think outside the box when trying to explain to the student what the task is so that they are able to understand what they are being asked to do. While observing the student with learning disabilities I observed a few interesting qualities that this student had that stood out from the other students. One of the qualities that I observed was that he was quiet. Unlike the rest of his class who would turn around and talk with the kids behind them, he would just sit there and wait for further instructions. Another interesting observation that I made was that my student would be interested in his work, but as time went on he began to loose interest in his work and would need someone to remind him to stay on task which was one of his accommodations. I found that his ability to become unmotivated was more prevalent when he was taking notes with the class off the smart board compared to when the class was in a group discussion and the teacher was asking open ended questions. • 3. The Heat Transfer Of A Forced Draft Cooling Abstract The aim of this experiment is to analyse the heat transfer of a forced draft cooling water tower and to perform energy and mass balances on the system. The system consisted of a single cooling tower where the heated water flowed down the tower, while air flow was directed against the water flow. In the system the energyconsumption of the heating element, the flow rate of the heated water and pressure could be adjusted. Measured properties in the system include the wet and dry bulb temperatures at the inlet and outlet, the temperature of the water in and out, the make up temperature and the pressure. The power to the heat is predetermined as well as the water mass flow rate. The enthalpy, absolute humidity and the specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Water is more commonly used due to its higher heat transfer coefficient, resulting in a smaller required surface area for cooling. The downside to water based cooling systems is that once the water has heated it must be cooled before it can be used again, this is a problem when trying to minimalise heat pollution. Due to the need for cooling of the water used, systems such as cooling water towers were developed. This is the most common method of cooling for recirculated water in chemical process industries. While water is fed down the tower, a cooling air flow is fed up through a system of slats that will increase the surface area of the water being cooled. As water falls down through the tower some of it will evaporate, this acts to further cool the stream as more heat is expelled in the form of latent heat. The aim of this report is to analyse the heat transfer of a forced draft cooling tower and to perform energy and mass balances on the system. The Bench Top Cooling Tower H891, with six thermometer readings, two wet and dry bulbs at the top and bottom of the system, was put into a steady state where measurements were made. ... They didn t just change the scientific world, they conveyed many ideas and statements that would modified it for centuries to come. William Shakespeare is a well known play writer from the 1600s. Shakespeare is known for his tragedies like Macbeth. Lady Macbeth told Macbeth that if he did not kill Duncan then he was not a man. Shakespeare never wastes words, and least of all in Macbeth. Lady Macbeth is first introduced to us reading the latter portion of a letter she has just received from her husband, telling her of his meeting with the witches and of their prophesy that he is to be king. The letter, and Lady Macbeth s soliloquy which follows, describe Macbeth s character and interpret her own. They show us many things that Lady Macbeth is the source of his mental strength and resolution, that they have talked over the situation of affairs in the kingdom, with all its possibilities, both those which may be depended upon to come unaided and those which may be forced to an issue (Gerwig). Lady Macbeth is the mastermind behind the killing of King Duncan she gets into Macbeth s head and convinces him the killing Duncan is the only way to fulfil the prophecy from the witches. Human and Computers Interaction Human Computer Interaction we are all familiar with, a trait characteristic of all humankind that emerged in the early 1980s that started embracing computer science and human factors that would interact with computer. There has been study of how the users of computers utilize them to complete tasks in the environment they will finally be used in. Human ComputerInteraction is not just designed for one user and then another user comes along to use it. When been created an HCI system it would have to be considering how the users will interact with computer devices. Human Computer Interaction all aspects have been included in the tasks to be completed, in the technology that will be used by the user (e.g. input/output), how they will interact with the system. Therefore, human computer interaction has become increasingly popular and is important to our society. Over one hundred years ago before, the word computer started to appear in our dictionary people didn t even know what a computer is. Now Human Computer Interaction has expanded rapidly and steadily over three decades. Until the late 1970s, the only humans who interacted with computers were information technology professionals and dedicated hobbyists. Technically speaking, internet censorship is difficult to achieve. Proponents of this measure seem to have neglected the fact that putting in place a system of surveillance requires the establishment of clear, unalterable rules. But often, such a task can be almost unfeasible since it is quite problematical to define precisely the information that is supposed to be blocked. In the context of hate speech for example, it is important to acknowledge the existence of a line between criticism, whether it is constructive or not, and pure animosity. Both of these internet giants encourage free speech while supervising it and immediately removing content that is clearly offensive to the general public. This concept of self regulation is a good alternative to extensive Internet censorship, since the website only has its own contents to focus on, rather than having an entire system of surveillance watching over the web, with the risk of it making errors in the process. Most importantly, the main idea behind these guidelines is not censorship, but moral, reasonable control. We should not let the government interfere and impose its draconian laws. Censorship is nothing but a violation of fundamental civil rights, starting with freedom of speech. By defying the First Law of Amendment (reference), internet surveillance will only give the government greater power to run our lives. Without our free will and autonomy, we are helpless, incapable of making a change. The Internet is a place that promotes freedom, in all its forms. • 14. The Distributive Style Of Negotiation How do we explore getting more in the deal than what was originally discussed? Some may not feel making the deal should mean adding more to it than the original bargain There is a lot of, what is in it for me? And what do we get out of this deal? Negotiation deals have either integrative or distributive properties. What are the contrasts between these two styles and what are their comparisons? This paper will explore the styles and how they are able to help expand the deal. The distributive style of negotiation is where both parties discuss a fixed sum or end state. Usually, one of the sides loses and the other gains. A gain by one side is made at the expense of the other. This is also known as a zero sum negotiation (Negotiating Outcomes, 2007). The integrative negotiation allows both parties to cooperate and achieve maximum outcomes from the agreement. It is done by allowing both sides to integrate their interests into the agreement. Each side makes trade offs to get the things it values most, giving up other, less critical factors (Negotiating Outcomes, 2007). These two styles are the basics of negotiation. One is more helpful in expanding the deal. The term, expanding the pie , should be interpreted as building a larger agreement. Remember, it is not about gaining power at the expense of other. Your having more power doesn t mean less power for the other person. The pie is expanded (Diamond, S., 2010). What is expanding the pie? It is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. Humans Were Hunters And Gatherers Prehistorically, we find that humans were hunters and gatherers. They would hunt animals for the meat and they would gather fruits and vegetables that were grown naturally for their food. After some time, people discovered that they could do agriculture instead and doing that greatly increased the amount of food that people could grow and store. Agriculturechanged everything with regards to how the human society was built. This was because when the people would forage, there was no way for them to store the food for a long time, as the meat would and the fruits/vegetables would go bad if it was left out in the open for extended amounts of time. This meant that they had to be huntingand gathering throughout the year, meaning that most of their lives and time would be spent looking for food. However, with agriculture, came a boom with regards to food production. People had more food that they could store and eat anytime. This gave way to people having more time on their hands, which meant they could pursue other aspects of the society, such as politics and art. In this regard we find that the foraging societies were much more egalitarian compared to agricultural societies. Many people have sought to answer the question why such foraging societies tended to be more egalitarian. It has to be noted that during the twentieth century, anthropologists found and were able to study many different hunter gatherer societies in the modern world that lived in the more remote parts of ... Unfortunately, Luther fails to do that. Luther Nedeed inspires hope and shows that the American dream is possible. Linden Hills is an affluent black community where many people strive to live because of its fame and what it immediately does to your status once you move in. The Nedeed family started from scratch, one of them with just a cardboard suitcase and a dream, another one who poured cement for numerous foundations, and another who gambled every dime to keep the community afloat during the Depression. Young men who represent the ages of Wilie and Lester need to know that if you work hard enough, the American dream is achievable. It shows them that you must work hard and if you work hard enough, your opportunity may come one day. However, the American dream will cause some people to sell themselves out. • 37. Homer Watercolor Essay Introduction Artists should never look at pictures, but should stutter in a language of their own. Winslow Homer Watercolor, is a form or a type of pigment that is made up of water color pigment. No matter how many layers of color is added the paint remains translucent. Watercolor paints were made during the 18th century. One of the characteristics of watercolor is that it helps add the white or light tint or shade while making or forming an art piece. When watercolor was brought out to the market it was brought directly from the painters in dry clumps and the paint was made when they cut off the clay like substance to make the watercolor paint. Humanitarian Intervention Research Paper I.Introduction In 2011, Operation Unified Protector performed air strikes over Libya, destabilizing the country and enabling the murder of Libya s dictator of 42 years, Colonel Muammar al Gaddafi. The United Nations Security Council justified the Libya Intervention for NATO allies on the grounds of an imminent humanitarian crisis that was thought to occur at the direction of Gaddafi. Thus, the United States, UNSC, and NATO allies are culpable for the humanitarian catastrophe in Libya and the killing of Gaddafi, because of their misuse of Responsibility to Protect (R2P) for their Humanitarian Intervention in 2011. In this paper I will provide a brief history of relations between the U.S. and Libya since 1979 and give an overview of the 2011 NATO led Humanitarian Intervention in Libya claimed to prevent an anticipated humanitarian crisis. This is, in part, due to the changes in technological advances. These devices almost a complete necessity as of 2017, since, from personal experience, many professors require students to use technology to complete assignments and to turn them in. The past 10 years have also allowed for sociable machines, as Sherry Turkle, a Professor of Social Studies of Science and Technologyat MIT, explains in her book Reclaiming Conversation: The Power of Talk in a Digital Age. Many machines today can be programmed to communicate or even provide services that a human being could do, only do so flawlessly. While these advantages can be seen as something that can only benefit people, Turkle explains that the reality of this phenomenon must be taken into deeper consideration when concerning how this affects people psychologically. Turkle examination on the long lasting effects that technology can have on conversation begins with the story of an experience she had conversing with a school who worried that their students were beginning to lose empathy and find it difficult to connect or to make friends because they were raised not knowing a life without advanced technology or social media. The excessive use of technology created a sort of barrier that prevented people from joining into deep and important conversations and from joining them without distraction. • 42. Rwanda Genocide Essay Imagine living a life of fear, turmoil, with death all around. Hearing gun shots being fired, death chants, machete use, dead bodies everywhere. Afraid to close your eyes at night to rest, yet more afraid to wake up in the morning. Trying to consider the natural condition of people, being whether it good or evil, I ve come to believe good exists as equally as evil. And as one resists the other, both are on a conquest to defeat the other. Goods quest is to help; scattering kindness, compassion, and love. Where evils quest is to carry out complete genocide against everything good. Within the fight, the battle is finished by a choice, a choice being allowed to conquer. This battle is fought in every human being. It should be said the choice between good and evilis a free choice. Swimming through what seems like a dark murky lake, I ve searched for a sliver of light, and too often come up discouraged, disappointed, and desperate. • 54. Pre Screening For Disabilities And Genetic Enhancement Pre screening for disabilities and genetic enhancement are vital factors in the decision to place restrictions for selective genetic abortion. All human life should be of equal worth, supporting the ideal that life and death decisions for seriously compromised newborns should not be based on the quality of life (CITE 3). Screening for genetic diseases through the use of in vitro fertilization, or IVF, limits and excludes those with disabilities from our society, exposing limits on morality. These include transgression of divine laws, transgression of natural laws, introduction of an unacceptable risk of harm, introduction of a threat to genetic diversity, introduction of a threat to one s common genetic heritage, paradoxical counterproductively, a misuse of social resources, a widened gap between the haves and have nots , promotion of social conformity and homogeneity, and lastly undermining free choice (Fisher, 2013). From these points it is important to recognize the impact it has upon our society, and how we perceive, and behave towards those with a disability. The practise of introducing selective abortionthrough the use of IVF and genetic testing will create a hostile environment going forward into the future for those who escape detection before birth.
