MY PORTFOLIO IN EDUCATIONAL
TECHNOLOGY
SAMBILAD, MERINEL S.
BSED III-HET
THE STUDENT
I am Merinel Sario
Sambilad, 18 years of
age.A resident of Brgy.
Batadbatad, Moalboal,
Cebu. I am studying at
CebuTechnological
University, Moalboal
Cebu taking up Bachelor
in Secondary Education
major in Home
EconomicsTechnology. I
am just a simple girl with
extraordinary dreams.
WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY?
- ("science of craft", from the Greek
word, techne, "art, skill, cunning of
hand"; and , -logia, is the
collection of techniques, skills,
methods and processes used in the
production of goods or services or
in the accomplishment of
objectives, such as scientific
investigation.
WHAT IS EDUCATIONAL
TECHNOLOGY?
-A theory about how problems in
human learning are identified and
solved.
-It is made up of organized effort to
implement the theory, intellectual
technique and practical application of
educational technology.
-A field involved in applying a complex,
integrated process to analyze and
solve problems in human learning.
-It is the application of technology to any
of those processes involved in operating
the institutions which house the
educational enterprise.
- It is a part of educational
technology which refers to
those aspects of educational
technology that are concerned
with instructions as contrasted
to designs and operations of
educational institutions.
-It means using learning
technologies to introduce,
reinforce, supplement and
extend skills.
- These are channels or avenues
or instruments of
communication.
Technology as a blessing:
- With cellphones and webcams, you will be
closer to someone miles and miles away.
-Teaching and learning have become more
novel, stimulating, exciting, fresh and
engaging with the use of multimedia in
the classroom.
-Through televisions, we become aware of the
current issues and happenings of our
world.
Technology as a curse:
-When abused and improperly used.
-Just think of a student who surfs the internet
for pornographic scenes.
-Most of the times it pulls us away from what
we need to do.
TRADITIONAL PERSPECTIVE
* as delivery vehicles for instructional
lessons
*serves as source and presenter 0f
knowledge
*serves as the teacher
CONSTRUCTIVIST PERSPECTIVE
* as partner in the learning
process
*is a learning tool to learn
with, not from
*it provides opportunities for
technology and
learner interaction for
meaningful learning
ROLES OF TECHNOLOGY IN
LEARNING
1. Technology as tools to support knowledge
construction:
- for representing learner’s ideas,
understanding and beliefs
2. Technology as information vehicles for
exploring knowledge to support learning-by-
constructing:
-for accessing needed information
3.Technology as context to support learning-by-
doing:
-for representing and stimulating
meaningful real-world problems, situations and
contexts
4.Technology as a social medium to support
learning by conversing:
-for discussing, arguing and building
consensus among members of a community
5.Technology as intellectual partner to support
learning-by-reflecting:
-for helping what learners to articulate
and represent what they know
1.Define Objective (DO)
*setting of a specific goal that needs to be
achieved
*it serves as a guide for the teacher and the
learners on what to learn
THREE THINGS TO CONSIDER
IN MAKING AN OBJECTIVE:
-Readiness
-Interest
-Needs
FIVECHARACTERISTICSOF AN OBJECTIVE:
 Specific
 Measurable
 Attainable
 Realistic/Result Oriented
 Time Bounded
THREE LEARNING DOMAINS THAT MUST BE
CONSIDERED IN MAKING AN OBJECTIVE:
-Cognitive Domain
-Affective Domain
-Psychomotor Domain
2.Choose Appropriate Method (CAM)
*selecting the appropriate methods of teaching including
the strategies and technique that you will use
*Will you use inductive or deductive approach? Specific to
general or general to specific?
3.Choose Appropriate Experience (CAE)
*selecting the appropriate experiences for the students
*selecting the right learning activities for the students
4. Selecting Materials, Equipment and Facilities
(SMEF)
*selecting the appropriate materials, equipment and even
facilities you will use in achieving your objective
*selecting the best instructional material to achieved the
best learning outcome
5.Assign Personnel Roles (APR)
*assigning or delegating task to the person in charge to help
you meet your objective
6.Implement The Instruction (ITI)
*application of all the things you planned and prepared in order to
meet your objective
*engaging with the students
*lesson proper
7.Evaluate Outcomes (EC)
*evaluating the outcome of the discussion for us to know if our
objective is achieved or not
*it can be written evaluation or not
8.Refine The Process (RP)
*it is a process wherein if the students passed the evaluation and you
achieved your objective then you can proceed to the new lesson
and if the objective is not met or achieved then you will again
back to the process
-First introduced in Dale’s 1946
book, Audio-Visual Methods in
Teaching
-Designed to “show the
progression of learning
experiences” from the
concrete to the abstract
KINDS OF LEARNERS
CONCEPTUAL
MODEL OF
LEARNING
CONSTRUCTIVISM
is a learning theory found in psychology which explains how people
might acquire knowledge and learn. It therefore has direct application to
education. The theory suggests that humans construct knowledge and
meaning from their experiences.
GENERATIVE LEARNING
is a theory that involves the active integration of new ideas with the
learner's existing schemata. The main idea of generative learning is that,
in order to learn with understanding, a learner has to construct meaning
actively (Osborne andWittrock 1983, p. 493).
DISCOVERY LEARNING
is a technique of inquiry-based learning and is considered
a constructivist based approach to education. It is supported by
the work of learning theorists and psychologists Jean Piaget,
Jerome Bruner, and Seymour Papert.
MEANINGFUL LEARNING
refers to the concept that the learned knowledge
(lets say a fact) is fully understood by the individual and that the
individual knows how that specific fact relates to other stored
facts (stored in your brain that is).
The older generation often feels
there is a generation gap
between them and the younger
generation.This is apparent in
simple things like the manner of
dressing, socializing, more
intimate relationship like
friendship and marrying. In the
field of education, a huge
generation gap also exists and
will continue to widen unless
some changes are adopted at the
proper time.
There is a need to prepare for bridging the digital gap in society and
to do this we need to understand the potentials of ICT:
- The new network of instantaneous communication is
global
- Much of what elders believe may not be applicable
anymore to the new generation, especially along
matters of traditional value systems
- AlvinToffler’s book, Future Shock, shows how the
information age has begun to create may cultural
changes in the family, society, modular man,
kinetic image, scientific trajectory, fractured family,
surfeit of sub cults, psychological dimensions and
etc.
EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY 1 & 2
The Educational Technology 1 course has
truly paved way for the learner to become aware.
appreciative and equipped to use educational
technology tools ranging from traditional to
modern educational media. In ET-1, the learner
was also oriented towards the averting dangers
of dehumanization which technology brings into
societies, through ideological propaganda,
pornography, financial fraud, and other
exploitative use of technology. On the application
of educational technology to instruction it
showed the 4 phases of application of
educational technology in teaching and
learning; setting of learning objectives, designing
specific learning, evaluating the effectiveness of
the learning experiences, and revision as
needed of the whole teaching learning process,
Educational Technology 2 is concerned with
integrating technology in teaching and learning.
Specifically this is focused on introducing,
reinforcing, supplementing and extending the
knowledge and skills to learners so that they can
become exemplary users of educational
technology.
THE STUDENTAFTER EDUCATIONAL
TECHNOLOGY
Educational technology has made me
realized the importance of technology in
the education process. I am now aware
and equipped with the knowledge and
skills of using educational tools in
teaching-learning process and this will
really help me as a future educator.

  • 11. TRADITIONAL PERSPECTIVE * as delivery vehicles for instructional lessons *serves as source and presenter 0f knowledge *serves as the teacher CONSTRUCTIVIST PERSPECTIVE * as partner in the learning process *is a learning tool to learn with, not from *it provides opportunities for technology and learner interaction for meaningful learning
  • 12. ROLES OF TECHNOLOGY IN LEARNING 1. Technology as tools to support knowledge construction: - for representing learner’s ideas, understanding and beliefs 2. Technology as information vehicles for exploring knowledge to support learning-by- constructing: -for accessing needed information
  • 13. 3.Technology as context to support learning-by- doing: -for representing and stimulating meaningful real-world problems, situations and contexts 4.Technology as a social medium to support learning by conversing: -for discussing, arguing and building consensus among members of a community 5.Technology as intellectual partner to support learning-by-reflecting: -for helping what learners to articulate and represent what they know

  • 15. 1.Define Objective (DO) *setting of a specific goal that needs to be achieved *it serves as a guide for the teacher and the learners on what to learn THREE THINGS TO CONSIDER IN MAKING AN OBJECTIVE: -Readiness -Interest -Needs
  • 16. FIVECHARACTERISTICSOF AN OBJECTIVE:  Specific  Measurable  Attainable  Realistic/Result Oriented  Time Bounded THREE LEARNING DOMAINS THAT MUST BE CONSIDERED IN MAKING AN OBJECTIVE: -Cognitive Domain -Affective Domain -Psychomotor Domain
  • 17. 2.Choose Appropriate Method (CAM) *selecting the appropriate methods of teaching including the strategies and technique that you will use *Will you use inductive or deductive approach? Specific to general or general to specific? 3.Choose Appropriate Experience (CAE) *selecting the appropriate experiences for the students *selecting the right learning activities for the students 4. Selecting Materials, Equipment and Facilities (SMEF) *selecting the appropriate materials, equipment and even facilities you will use in achieving your objective *selecting the best instructional material to achieved the best learning outcome

  • 24. CONSTRUCTIVISM is a learning theory found in psychology which explains how people might acquire knowledge and learn. It therefore has direct application to education. The theory suggests that humans construct knowledge and meaning from their experiences. GENERATIVE LEARNING is a theory that involves the active integration of new ideas with the learner's existing schemata. The main idea of generative learning is that, in order to learn with understanding, a learner has to construct meaning actively (Osborne andWittrock 1983, p. 493).
  • 25. DISCOVERY LEARNING is a technique of inquiry-based learning and is considered a constructivist based approach to education. It is supported by the work of learning theorists and psychologists Jean Piaget, Jerome Bruner, and Seymour Papert. MEANINGFUL LEARNING refers to the concept that the learned knowledge (lets say a fact) is fully understood by the individual and that the individual knows how that specific fact relates to other stored facts (stored in your brain that is).
  • 26. The older generation often feels there is a generation gap between them and the younger generation. This is apparent in simple things like the manner of dressing, socializing, more intimate relationship like friendship and marrying. In the field of education, a huge generation gap also exists and will continue to widen unless some changes are adopted at the proper time.
  • 27. There is a need to prepare for bridging the digital gap in society and to do this we need to understand the potentials of ICT: - The new network of instantaneous communication is global - Much of what elders believe may not be applicable anymore to the new generation, especially along matters of traditional value systems - AlvinToffler’s book, Future Shock, shows how the information age has begun to create may cultural changes in the family, society, modular man, kinetic image, scientific trajectory, fractured family, surfeit of sub cults, psychological dimensions and etc.

EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY 1 & 2 The Educational Technology 1 course has truly paved way for the learner to become aware. appreciative and equipped to use educational technology tools ranging from traditional to modern educational media. In ET-1, the learner was also oriented towards the averting dangers of dehumanization which technology brings into societies, through ideological propaganda, pornography, financial fraud, and other exploitative use of technology. On the application of educational technology to instruction it showed the 4 phases of application of educational technology in teaching and learning; setting of learning objectives, designing specific learning, evaluating the effectiveness of the learning experiences, and revision as needed of the whole teaching learning process,
  • 29. Educational Technology 2 is concerned with integrating technology in teaching and learning. Specifically this is focused on introducing, reinforcing, supplementing and extending the knowledge and skills to learners so that they can become exemplary users of educational technology.
  • 30. THE STUDENTAFTER EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY Educational technology has made me realized the importance of technology in the education process. I am now aware and equipped with the knowledge and skills of using educational tools in teaching-learning process and this will really help me as a future educator.
