Media evaluation question 6
1. 6) What have you learnt about technologies
from the process of constructing this
product?
By Jessica Pye
2. Because the coursework was a much bigger
project than the preliminary task, more
different technologies needed to be used not
only for diversity, but also to enhance the
coursework.
3. Livetype
A program which helped greatly for our titles was Livetype
which we used on the macs. Livetype helped to create
the typed-out effect, which fit in with the technological
theme of the thriller. It was easy to do once we played
around with the program and got used to the tools.
When designing our ident we also used Livetype, again, to
do so as it was useful to create different effects.
4. Garage Band
For the ident music we used Garage Band. Garage Band
allows you to use any instruments or sound effects and
input your own musical ideas/themes. On Livetype we
then imported the music on Garage Band, which I had
earlier created, this was easy to import once the music
was converted to an mp3 file by saving using the 'AAC
coder' option.
5. Survey Monkey
A new program which was completely new to myself and everyone else in
my group was Survey Monkey. We used Survey Monkey to create an
electronic questionnaire open to all, this was a good way of getting
feedback from our target audience and what they would like to see in a
thriller. Doing a exercise like this also helped to give inspiration for our own
thriller.
6. Slideshare
Another unfamiliar technology we hadn't used before, which was
slideshare, helped with our evaluation process (like as in
evaluation question three). Slideshare and Survey Monkey
helped a lot, even through in different ways, and next year for
A2 or another subject, I would definitely consider using them
again due to their effectiveness.
7. Familiar friends
Familiar programs/technologies we used previously in the preliminary
task also helped in the AS coursework and the process as a whole.
However we did learn more on using Final Cut Express like we learnt
how to make scene transitions e.g. dissolves, how to change colours,
how to edit sound etc.
And of course, all of this you are reading right now, wouldn't be
possible if not for Blogger. Blogger has helped to express ideas,
interests and keep a diary of what we've been learning and creating.
Blogging has changed how I've learnt and I think, personally, I have
benefited from it. I couldn't imagine not using Blogger ever again as
it's become a part of my weekly, and even daily routine.
