The student used various media technologies at different stages of their media coursework. YouTube provided tutorials that helped with research, learning media programs like InDesign and Photoshop, and uploading the final trailer. InDesign was used to create ancillary products like a poster and magazine cover. Photoshop was used to edit photos for the magazine cover and poster. Blogger served as an online diary to document the entire process. Prezi and Slideshare helped with presenting work. Final Cut Pro was utilized to edit the final film together.
How media technologies aided research, production, and evaluation
1. How did you use media technologies
in the construction and research,
planning and evaluation stages?
By Connor Triggs
2. Throughout my entire A2 media coursework I
used a number of different media products to
aid me through the research, production and
evaluation of the course.
3. YouTube
YouTube has helped me throughout the different
stages. During the research I used it to look at
trailers of a similar genre so that I could work out
the codes and conventions of my genre and to get a
rough idea of what my trailer would look like. At
the production stage when I was struggling with
different media programmes like InDesign and
Photoshop YouTube allowed me to find tutorials on
what to do. In order to show you my final trailer I
used YouTube, firstly I exported it from Final cut
and then uploaded it to my blogger.
4. InDesign
I used InDesign to create my ancillary products,
having used InDesign before I found it quite simple
to use but I also used YouTube to show me tutorials
when I was struggling with it. InDesign helped me
to merge pieces of text with images to create a
professional looking poster and magazine
frontcover.
5. Photoshop
I used Photoshop to create my ancillary
products photo, Photoshop is designed by
adobe. I used it to transform the original photo
of shannon and making it darker for the
magazine cover so that it fits in with the action
genre and in my poster I put a posterized effect
on it which made the edges stand out. In order
to put the image on InDesign I had to export it
from Photoshop in the shape of a Jpeg and then
import it on InDesign
6. Blogger
I used blogger throughout my coursework as a
form of diary so that I could put all the work I
was using on to it. It allowed me to put videos,
writing and pictures and was the perfect
platform to show everyone my course
7. Prezi
I used prezi a lot to throughout the course, it is a
sort of online spider diagram to present work. It
is quite simplistic to use but a couple of times I
struggled to figure out the timeline of it.
8. Slideshare
Slideshare is a website that allows you too
import your powerpoint so that you can put it
into your blog. I found it really easy to use but
sometimes struggled uploading due to my poor
internet connection at home.
9. Final cut
I used final cut to put together my final film it
allowed me to cut different clips and put them
together along with the soundtrack. Having used
this software last year I could do the basics of it
but I am yet to feel comfortable using it to do
more of the advanced effects, so I could not use
it to its most potential.
10. Outcomes of this technology
Having looked at this, I have realeased that this
is very advanced technology that 10 years ago
wasn’t here this new technology. This new
technology has helped the film industry
massively in all aspects and can make anyone a
film producer through free sites like youtube to
distribute your film and social networks which
promote the film for free.
