Media coursework: The final part of the evaluation.
1. What do you feel you have learnt in the progression from your
preliminary task to your final product?
As youcan see withthe firsttask andthe final product it is clear just
how far I’ve come. In the beginning, hardly any thought went into
the construction piece, with virtually no planning aside from a 30
second assessment as to where I thought it was best to take the
photo and a 10 second decision on the titles. My first piece is
significantly inadequate to the standard of work I have produced
today. After constructing my first piece one of the major things I’d
learnt was that there needs to be some research and planning put
into the magazine. This is because with research I can find out the
codes and conventions of a pop music magazine and the planning
stage allows me to identify these codes and conventions to be put
intopractice so that my final piece isfitforpurpose. Another thing I
have learnt is the importance of varying fonts.
2. In the preliminary task,I used the same fonts for both the masthead and
the cover lines. This couldn’tbe done in the final productas itwouldn’t
make the different pieces of text distinguishableenough from one and
other. As well as it wouldn’t add character or dimension to the page. The
importance of a strong main image was something that I found I needed to
have to produce a media product of high quality. In ‘YOCO’ the image is just
too plain as although the model is pretty, and smilingstood in frontof a
bookcasewhich does give connotations of a college. It lacks good lighting,a
high-quality resolution thatcan be applied in a studio and as ‘Student of
the year’ the photograph could’ve included a longshot of her studying,
with desks and computers in the backdrop for example to make it more
interesting.
The contentspage usedinmy preliminary
