1. Q7 Looking back at you media preliminary
task, what do you feel you have learnt in the
progression from it to the full product?
Looking back to my preliminary task of
creating a front cover and contents page for a
school magazine I can see that I have improved my
skills and knowledge. When we created the school
magazine I didn’t know how to use the software
such as Quark Xpress. I later learned how to use
the tools such as creating columns and making the
text flow into the next, resizing an image properly,
different font effects and page measurements. I
can see now compared with my latest finished final
music magazine that my skills have widely
improved. Not only have I improved technically I
have also improved my presentation as the layout
looks a lot more professional. Also when I started
the preliminary task I didn’t have vast knowledge
on the codes and conventions, I did know some
but I quickly was taught them the rest of them
when creating my main task the music magazine.
This allowed me to make progression as it made
the final product look more professional, like a real
music magazine e.g. I learnt how to position the
barcode correctly and how to make the coverlines
more interesting for the audience and how they
could stand out. I also improved my photography
skills as the images I have recently taken for my
finished product are at a much higher quality and
standard. I can see the difference in the two
productions and how my main task looks a lot
more like an established music magazine.
