Essay on The Role of Poetry in Narrative Prose of the...
If I happen to encounter poetry imbedded within prose, I tend to either skip over it, scan it, or
otherwise read it as quickly as possible if it seems uninteresting. I am almost shamed to admit that my
reading habits hold no exception for traditional Japanese literature, although I guess I am forced to go
back and actually read them thoroughly now, since that happens to be the topic of this paper. First of
all, I can grasp the meaning of the poem if it is obvious enough in context. For someone unfamiliar
with Japanese literature, history, language, etc., it is difficult to understand, let alone recognize the
allusions present. Luckily, Royall Tyler was kind enough to footnote a good majority of the poems for
the inexperienced readers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A deep seated sorrow is felt at the loss of her companionship. Yes, yes, it is all very moving and pretty,
until one realizes that this is Narihira we are reading about. In the short time I have spent with him and
Genji, I have come to develop a distinct dislike for these two characters, which makes me biased
against anything involving them, especially their poetry. Just the thought of this poetry being
composed by such people, fictional or not, instantly makes it unappealing. Actual correspondence
between the men and women in these tales through poetry is even worse; having that as the only form
of communication between them seems frustrating. More often than not in its romantic role in stories,
poetry only serves to foster wrongful feelings, inciting misplaced passions that lead to shameful
misdeeds. I suppose society was simply like that at the time and I should give in and accept it for what
it was and be happy that that is not the modern convention. Perhaps it is an ancient form of the current
interpreting the text message? Moving on to poetry in a different type of narrative, the Tosa Diary is
filled with poetry unconcerned with romantic relationships, comprised of farewells, statements, and
descriptions of the strange and horrifying new sights they encounter on the sea bound voyage. Many
of them convey melancholic sentiments to their lost loved ones or for fear for

Rossini And Il Barbiere Di Siviglia Essay
Rossini and Il Barbiere di Siviglia
Gioachino Rossini, like many great composers, was born in the right place at the right time. The
musical firmament was still mourning the loss of Wolfgang Mozart in 1792 when Rossini was born.
His parents were both gifted musicians, and young Gioachino was in a music conservatory by the age
of 14. Rossini composed ten operas within the following seven years and had established himself as a
gifted composer in the opera buffa style. This genre of comic opera was strikingly different from the
rigorous opera seria, but it still managed to acquire some noticeable traits. Primarily, the arias in opera
buffe shirk the da capo style of the seria mold. The subject matter deals frequently ... Show more

Rossini snuck out of the Teatro Argentina and went home, retiring for the evening without so much as
a word to anyone. The following evening, however, was a stark contrast. The composer did not attend
the performance, but he heard a crowd with torches in the street following the show. He fully expected
an angry mob, but was greeted by an adulatory audience shouting Bravo! Almaviva became
immensely popular, and the title was eventually changed to Il Barbiere di Siviglia. This alteration
established Rossini s work as the ultimate expression of the story, and the work is now considered
widely as one of the greatest comic operas ever written.
An aria from Barbiere that incorporates many of the typical buffa elements is La calunnia é un
venticello from the first act. Often called the Calumny aria , La calunnia is the first aria sung by the
unscrupulous music teacher, Don Basilio. He sings to Bartolo about defaming Almaviva through
calumny, malicious lies. The aria opens slowly, softly in D major as Basilio describes his slander as a
gentle breeze which begins to gather force. Rossini s orchestration embodies this concept, as a simple
ascending scale in thirds begins in the strings. The pianissimo marking gives way to piano as the
pattern moves to a phrase in b minor. The tune continues to meander through tonalities until it arrives
back in D major. Basilio reiterates that his lies gather

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart And The Classical Era
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a brilliant composer from the classical era. He lived a short life;
however, he was able to compose many great pieces of music before he passed away. One of his
famous pieces is his Eine Kleine Nachtmusik piece that he wrote in 1787. The piece can be observed
as good from a Christian perspective. Art is meant to be felt and not just heard or seen.
Mozart was born in Austria in 1756 to a musically inclined family. He put together his first concerto at
the age of five. Before he reached the age of six he was playing in the Bavarian courts and in the
houses of the noble. His father, Leopold, saw him as a miracle child sent from God. He traveled all
over Europe and played for some of the most prestigious people before he was even ten years old. By
the age of thirteen, he had written multiple symphonies and began touring with his Italian operatic
style (Mozart, 2015). One of his most popular pieces for the Church was entitled, Litaniae de
venerabili altaris sacramento. In this piece, he used a range of styles and was known for using fugues
and dramatic expressions.
At the age of twenty five, he decided to marry Constanze Weber, the daughter of a family friend.
Together they had six children of only which two survived. He continued to compose music for all
genres and many popular operas such as Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, and Die Zauberflöte. In
1791, he contracted the rheumatic inflammatory fever and passed away early at the age

What Is A Gap Years Essay
A gap year was once just a privilege for the people of luxury and wealthy backgrounds, who s mummy
and daddy would send them of for the time of their lives. They would travel to poor countries and help
build houses and schools for the ones in need for a few weeks. Then spend the rest of the year going to
beaches and parties. They have changed the lives of many and had the time of their lives.
Some people think that gap years are for the people of luxury and upper class as they are so expensive
that even the working class can t afford it. Take Louise Linton for example, she is a actress who went
on a gap year to volunteer in Zambia, she got a lot of backlash at the fact that she was of upper class
and posted that she was hiding from a group of armed rebels and she didn t want to think what the
rebels would do to the skinny white Muzungu with long angel hair if they found me. and the only
thing that got her through the ruff times was the smiling gap toothed child with HIV whose greatest
joy was to sit on my lap and drink from a bottle of Coca Cola. on twitter, Gerard Zytkow, claimed to

what you might want to do in life, college or university as it gives them a year to take time to think

Understanding The Development Process Of A Child
After carefully observing a 7 year old elementary school student, I was able to analyze and understand
the development process of a child in a detailed manner. The individual observed was a seven year old
Caucasian male, who is currently enrolled at a local elementary school. The participant is the oldest
child of the family who comes from a well balanced family background. Mother and the father are
healthy individuals who are actively engaged in the upbringing of the young participant. Father of the
participant is a full time graduate student at Midwestern University. The participant spends the
majority of his free time outside of his living space actively playing with his younger siblings or just
by himself. The participant is in second grade and rides to school every day on his bicycle under the
supervision of his mother. The participant spends the majority of the day with his mother than father,
this is primarily due to father s full time status as a graduate student. Observation of this participant
was divided in two locations on Midwestern University s campus. The first 40 minutes of the
observation took place outside in front of the participant s living space. Participant spent time playing
with two sticks, trying to attach one stick with another. Although the participant was preoccupied with
the sticks, he was aware of his surroundings. On multiple occasion participant made a direct eye

Frederick Douglass And The Fight For Women s Suffrage
Frederick Douglass was a major black male voice in the fight for women s suffrage. Douglass unlike
many men believed that women too were people and deserved all of the rights a man was given. He
believed this because black men were previously apart from the equality of all men, and they too
should be apart in gaining this equality for all. Douglass, along with other strong willed women,
Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony, Lucretia Mott, Sojourner Truth, among others, they
became the forefront of Women s Suffrage in the 1848 Convention on Woman s Rights at Seneca
Falls.
After the Civil War granting African Americans their freedom, Frederick Douglass became a political
activist against the institution of slavery. He combined his efforts with John Brown, an abolitionist,
engaging in strong minded debates in figuring out whether the U.S Constitution was proslavery,
antislavery, created for the well being of all men or only white men. Douglass gained the knowledge
of political reform and how to go about movements, in his case, abolition movements, and later on
assisting in women rights movements. He learned that being looked upon in politics, as an intelligent
and well respected individual without pursuing force would be the best way to gain his victory. His
goal was to persuade the American public opinion against slavery, while praising democratic freedom
and progression of American principles, reaching audiences of all sexes and races. He also pointed out

Executive Summary Overview Agrifarm Company is in the business of buying and selling grain. The
company wants to increase profitability by ensuring that shipping costs are kept low. All is shipments
come from 3 rail cars origins. In addition, all shipments must be routed through either of two grain
processing centers before sending them to the final customer. The object is to minimize the total
shipping cost, therefore selecting the proper shipping route for each carload. Problem There is a total
capacity (rail carloads) of 14 that is available to serve a total demand (rail carloads sold) of 15. With
this mentioned, there is an unbalanced capacity and demand. To solve for the proper shipping route,
we will have to include a dummy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Objective Agrifarm Company s main objective is to determine the proper distribution, within a
distribution network, to minimize the total shipping costs to deliver carloads from origin to the hubs
and finally to the customers. To do so, we are given two distribution cost tables that explain the
processing center shipping costs, meaning origin to hubs, and the customer shipping costs, meaning
from hubs to the final customer. Therefore, the cost to ship rail cars of grain from the origins and hubs
will determine the proper distribution of rail cars from origin to destination. Solution Our optimal
solution (total shipping cost) to meet all ten constraints is $513,000. Origin Muncie will not ship to
hub Louisville but will ship 3 rail cars of grain to hub Cincinnati. Origin Brazil will ship 6 rail cars of
grain to hub Louisville but will not ship hub Cincinnati. Origin Xenia will not ship to hub Louisville
but will ship 5 rail cars to hub Cincinnati. Origin Dummy will ship 1 rail car to hub Louisville but will
not ship to hub Cincinnati. Hub Louisville will ship 2 rail cars to customer Macon, 5 rail cars to
Greenwood, 0 to Concord, and 0 to customer Chatham. Hub Cincinnati will ship 0 rail cars to
customer Macon, 0 rail cars to Greenwood, 3 rail cars to Concord, and 5 rail cars to customer

Analysis Of Mile Davis The Birth Of Cool Jazz
The development of cool jazz in the late 1950s defines the culmination of the style into popular
mainstream culture. Mile Davis The Birth of Cool defines a masterpiece that projected an image of an
African American cool cat that played a refined, mellow, and sophisticated style of jazz. Davis would
become a central figure in the cool jazz movement due to his rebellious attitudes towards society, as
well as the drug related criminal culture that he exuded as a countercultural figure in conservative
white America. The Birth of the Cool provided a major record release, which was founded on
minimalist instrumentation and selective note playing as a common theme of cool jazz stylistics
during the late 1950s. In contrast to Bebop, Davis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The etymology of cool typically defined a hip person in African American that displayed a relaxed or
nonchalant countenance. The use of this word in Chisholm s Cool Kind Daddy Blues and Huston s
The Gilded Six Bits illustrates a popularized way to express an individual with a cool demeanor in the
arts. This type of cultural label helped to establish cool jazz as an expression of this African American
lifestyle in the jazz community. The deviant nature of the jazz lifestyle is another major part of the
Cool jazz , which made it cool to be seen as a rebellious in terms of criminal behavior and drug usage.
The cool trend in the early 1950s began with album releases, such as Classics in Jazz: Cool and Quiet
in 1953, which established a music industry standard for mellow jazz in the cool school. Stan Kenton s
Modern Music Orchestra was also a major influence on cool jazz , which revealed the racial diversity
of jazz in white groups that expanded on African American influences. Jazz artists, such as Chet Baker
and Gerry Mulligan, that complimented the master works of Mile Davis and the Modern Jazz Quartet
in this multi racial and multicultural development of cool jazz as a trend in American music. The and
of the 1950s defined the end of cool jazz as a dominant movement in jazz, but it defines the origins
and development of a relaxed and nonchalant style of playing that made a huge impact on jazz

The York s Play Of Crucifixion
As long as humanity has existed, humans have been trying to figure out what humanity is. It has been
a topic of discussion for generations by people, and many people have different answers. Oftentimes,
authors of various works try to explain humanity through their work. It s often difficult, because we
cannot really understand what humanity is. However, some artists get relatively close, and give pretty
good explanation as to what it is. The York s Play of Crucifixion especially shows what it means to be
human, in a very intelligent and interesting way. What I believe means to be human is imperfection,
and that is what this play is outwardly saying. As humans, we physically cannot be perfect. There is
not one person on this earth who was, is, or ever will be in the future. We have flaws; we make
mistakes, sometimes weren t angry when we simply shouldn t to people who do not deserve it, and
everyone does it. It s unavoidable. Humans can be brutal, and whether they mean it or not. The York s
Play of Crucifixion shows these faults of humanity when it comes to the soldiers in the play. The play,
which is obviously about the Crucifixion of Christ, is actually centered around a group of soldiers who
are tasked with crucifying Christ. Although they have no problems with Jesus on the forefront, they
are tasked with crucifying him. And, especially in lines 73 90 show how malicious they acted towards
him. This is where the York s Play shows how human nature. The play

Carbon Dioxide And Its Effect On Earth
Carbon Dioxide is a colorless, nonflammable gas, with no smell. It accounts for about .04% by
volume of the air in the atmosphere and is naturally occurring. It can be found in the human body,
oceans, atmosphere, and within the Earth s mantle. This molecular compound is notated as CO2 and is
made up of one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms. Carbon dioxide is also used for many different
things. For example, carbon dioxide is use for your soft drink and soda products such as sprite, sierra
mist and pepsi just to name a few. Another thing carbon dioxide is use for is food such as ice cream
and frozen food the dry icy is an effect of carbon dioxide. Oxygen is the third most abundant element
in the universe. It makes up about twenty percent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Experts agree that carbon first appeared on Earth in a reduced, abiotic form. Carbon is found in all
meteorites, and historically, the prevailing view was that all atmospheric carbon found on Earth was in
the form of carbon dioxide (Shaw). Recently, however, this viewpoint has been disproved for a
number of reasons. The first is that geological evidence would be present if the atmosphere was full of
carbon dioxide, which is lacking. The second reason is the delay in oxygenation of the atmosphere
following the development of the first oxygen producing microbes. The third reason is the
longstanding balance between carbonate carbon and biogenic carbon at a ratio of about 4 to 1 (Shaw).
This suggests that it was unlikely that the atmosphere was full of carbon in the form of carbon dioxide.
It is believed that the early ocean held most of the carbon. The primordial soup theory suggests that
the early ocean had a high concentration of photochemically produced complex organic compounds as
well as oxidized sediments, which slowly released carbon dioxide into the atmosphere (Shaw). These
factors are also the same factors that likely lead to the initial evolution of primitive life in the ocean.
This explanation better fits the geological timeframe for the oxygenation and buildup of carbon
dioxide in the atmosphere (Shaw). A common theory for the presence of carbon dioxide in the Earth s
atmosphere is the

Unethical Practices For Business Success Essay
We have heard the well used phrase, When in Rome, do as the Romans do, and have applied it well as
we travel among other countries and cultures, with great success. However, in business, it does not
prove to be as much of a reliable phrase to live by. General practices of businesses can sometimes
prove to be unethical, even though they are quite legal, or were simply unethical in their conduct and
operations, with no remorse. Unethical practices by businesses have often been a catalyst in their
demise. Hence, for business success, we might say, When in business, practicing integrity is good
business, because if it is adhered to, it can be a recipe for success.
According to an article, Unethical Rationalizations and Misconceptions, which was published by
ethicsalarms.com, there are countless excuses and reasons people justify unethical practices, whether
they are legal or illegal. Every form of excuse, It s done all the time, to It s always been done this way,
to Everybody accepts it, to Nobody s complained before, to It s too late to change now, to No harm, no
foul, to name a few. These justifications are clearly evident that the ABCDs of ethical decision making
have been bypassed.
When operating a business, it is more profitable to consider every aspect of the outcome of the
decisions that we make. We need to be aware of the facts of the entire situation. Who will it impact
most and to what degree? How do I feel about the decision I am going to make?

Environmental Influence On Native American Culture
Environment shaped the Native American culture. The Ice Age occurring 35,000 years ago shaped
oceans into glaciers, lowered sea level, and most importantly exposed the land bridge from Eurasia
(Siberia) to North America (Alaska). In this way, nomads (Asian Hunters) were able to cross the
American continent for 250 centuries and inhabit North and South America into countless tribes,
diverse cultures, and evolving over 2,000 separate languages. The difference of environment shaped
diverse Native cultures as those residing in the Great Plains (Pueblos) settled into agricultural villages
meanwhile tribes situated in mountainous regions (Iroquois) conformed to nomadic hunting.

Although strong tensions between the Natives and Europeans caused mass death over both
populations, other commodities can take the blame for the Native s demise. Alongside the animals and
plants Europeans brought from Europe, ominous germs were also carried in their travels to the New
World. This caused an epidemic of smallpox, yellow fever, and malaria within the Native American
population, who were not immune to the maladies. Within 50 years, 1 million of Taino natives in

So poor scores by the students on standardized tests will give a district lower ranking. This causes
schools to be strictly teaching to the standardized tests curriculums. So many schools and teachers
focus on teaching how to perform well on the standardized test rather than other important subjects the
students are passionate learning about. Students then start to utilize memorization techniques and
creative ways to learn on how to beat the test rather than studying on history and sciences where there
is potential to grow as a student and learn (Concordia University). These infamous tests put
unnecessary stress on the students, teachers, administrators and even school districts. Some students
are able to pick up the tricks easier than others, so they score higher. Therefore, the ACT and SAT do
not test the intelligence of a student nor the abilities of a student as the test does not follow a high
school curriculum, rather ACT and SAT are stressful tests for easy comparison nationally.
Moreover, standardized tests, ACT and SAT, are created as a fair comparison between all students as
the test is written at the same time for all students each month, administered with consistent
instructions, same allotted timing and scored in the same manner, but there are confounding variables
that affect the scores of the students (Poulsen). When a student enters a testing area, their identity is

ABSTRACT:
Today is the time which can be marked when we can see four generation rubbing their shoulders more
or less happily under the same roof of an organisation. Though these generations show drastic
variations in terms of their values, commitments, motivational factors, dissatisfiers, work
environment, approach towards job etc., yet every generation has got some exceptional benefits for the
organisation. Organisation cannot afford to value any of them less than the others. Talking about IT
industry, we can hardly see anyone from the oldest generation who are called as the Traditionalists. As
the IT sector has reached its forties you can find atleast three generations Baby Boomers, Generation
X and Generation Y joining hands for the success of the organisation.
Easier said than done, managing these three generation has given a tough time to the top managers.
The industries have seen their employees below 25 years of age growing into more matured workforce
and their changed focus have forced the Human Resource Managers to change their basic policies,
which were initially made for care free employees recruited freshly from the campus. This situation
has not only posed a challenge in terms of managing the differences but also making them work under
same policy framework. This research work helps in

How Chiropractic Is A Discipline Of Health Science
What is Chiropractics?
Chiropractic is a discipline in health science that focuses on restoring health through basic and natural
hands on care without taking a surgical or long term medicinal approach. As most of us know that the
conventional allopathic medicinal approach targets curing the illness through a set of drug therapy or
surgery, the approach of chiropractic is totally different. The primary goal of chiropractic is to
alleviate back pain through spine adjustment. Because human spine is a very complex structure, the
primary avenue of care in chiropractic is to make your spine more flexible in order to improve your
mobility and strength. A licensed chiropractor does spine adjustment, spinal decompression, health
assessment for pain management and back bone alignment procedures.
A number of times, people suffering from intense back or joint pain complain about nerve pain too.
That s because the nerve existing in that joint doesn t get a free space due to misalignment of the spine
or joint bones. Because of the misaligned articulation of the joints, existing nerves can be hugely
affected. This is when a chiropractor makes some adjustment to align the joint bones or spinal bones.
In short, the chiropractor manually repositions these joints. This will reduce the pain associated with
the joints and improve your strength and flexibility. Origin:

Teen Prescription Drug Abuse In High School
Teen Prescription Drug Abuse
Doesn t matter what age, drugs are going to be used and abuse. From the time we are born, till the day
we die, prescription drugs are prescribed for doctor approved use. Most prescription drugs are given to
help control a disease, an imbalance, sickness, etc. With teenage drug abuse on the rise in most US
high schools, has become a problem parents are noticing among their children. Being a parent to a
teenage child who has meddled with prescription drugs has been an unbelievable eye opener. Teens
know who they get these drugs from; fellow students, friends, parents cabinets. Educating parents and
discussing the risks with teens about the effects prescription drugs can cause is important to helping
prevent this from continuing. Prescription drug abuse amongst teens in high school is becoming a
dilemma. Teens are finding it easy to get drugs at school by either buying it off other students or
getting it from friends who got it from someone else. This has become a huge problem amongst the
youth. With most high schools having campus police, they are finding it hard to crack down on drugs

Science Of Economics By Neuroscientist Marco Iacaboni
4. Mirror neurons are a major component in brain functioning, and thus it gives them a primary role in
pscyho economic reasoning. Their integral nature in decision making produces various outlying
effects like contagion and feeds into instinctual behaviors such as confidence. The neurons, which
were popularized within the field of economics by neuroscientist Marco Iacaboni, have since played a
big role in discerning group dynamics. Mirror neurons themselves are a pivotal factor in bridging
perception and action as they help prep responses. As discovered by four Italian scientists in Parma,
Italy, mirror neurons fire as a function of perception, but it may not lead to any discernable action. Put
more straightforward, mirror neurons are a set of neurons that produce a mirror like firing sequence in
response to a stimulus, but they do not necessarily cause any physical motor reaction. The scientists
who first proposed this phenomenon showed that neurons present in the premotor cortex of macaque
monkeys showed near parallel bursts of activity between a perception and actual execution of a
particular task, in this case grasping an object. Mirror neurons are unique as they are universal in the
brain. They mirror actions, emotions, and even potentially sentiments. Moreover, Iacaboni even went
as far to suggest they serve as the basis for complex states such as morality. In this sense mirror
neurons have the potential to be major factors within group dynamics as they can

Evolution Of Managed Care And The Forces That Have Driven...
Describe the evolution of managed care and the forces that have driven its evolution.
Managed care and its competition is being viewed to solve their issue on the struggle to control rising
health care costs. Managed care can be defined a system of delivering health services in which care is
delivered by a specified network of providers who agree to comply with the care approaches
established through a case management process. Managed care has a one hundred years of history in
the United States, and it gained national recognition around mid 1970s. The health maintenance
organizations (HMOs) are managed care organizations. There are two categories of MCOs are,
preferred provider organizations (PPOs) and point of service plans
(POS). There are over half of Americans with health insurance are enrolled in managed care plans.
Currently the debate in the United States is in regard to the quality of care provided by MCOs and
traditional fee for service plans. Another major issue with managed care is the use of gag clauses in
contracts amongst the MCOs and their providers. These clauses limit providers from being more
informative to patients about the alternative treatments or the details of reimbursements for providers.
The U.S. health care reform failed in 1994, and it caused a more focused turn to the marketplace to
provide the stimulus for reducing costs.
A few new trends are rising as managed care enters its second generation: dual and triple option plans

1. Research some economics concepts regarding the value of labor. How do the business cycles and
the health of the economy affect the value of your labor? In terms of supply and demand, what are the
optimal conditions in which to sell your labor? How might further education increase your mobility in
the labor market (the value of your labor)?
a. When the value of labor is down, the economy is down. When the events from the world begin to
change (recession), than the balance between supply and demand change. Sometimes demand and
supply change so much that one or the other cannot keep up with the other. Whatever happens

3. Examine your budget and distinguish between wants and needs. How do you define a financial
need? What are your fixed expenses, or costs you must pay regularly each week, month or year?
Which of your budget categories must your provide for first before satisfying others? To what extent is
each of your expenses discretionary under your control in terms of spending more or less for that item
or resource? Which of your expenses could you reduce if you had to or wanted to for any reason?
a. A financial need is something that you cannot live without. For example a financial need for me is
food. I need food to survive. Another financial need for me would be paying rent. I need a stable place
to live, because being stable will ensure more in my future. I must provide to my living category first.
This includes rent, food, and utilities. Without these I wouldn t be stable enough for a job, which with
no job I will not have a budget. I try to save money, so when it comes to wants, I try my hardest not to
purchase them. If I could reduce one of my expenses it would be probable be the amount I pay on my
utilities. I could try to reduce them in the household, which will reduce the price that I owe.

Assess Sociological Explanations of the Role of the Mass...
Assess sociological explanations of the role of the mass media in creating moral panics about crime
and deviance: A moral panic is the process of arousing social concern over an issue, this is often an
exaggerated over reaction by society to a perceived problem, which is usually driven or inspired by
the media. In this situation the reaction ends up amplifying the problem out of proportion to its real
seriousness. This creates anxiety amongst the general population, and this therefore puts pressure on
the agents of social control to deal with the problem, who then act accordingly to the group
responsible for the panic. There is a strong relationship between mass media and crime. On average,
around 30% of newspaper content is dedicated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This creates public anxiety and puts a great deal of pressure on the authorities to stamp down on the
problem group and its rebellious activities. New laws, increased policing and severe punishments are
often a result of the media s coverage of the issue. Although, a self fulfilling prophecy may develop as
the group resists the attempts that are put in place to control it, this leads to an increase in arrests and
more reporting. A deviancy amplification spiral therefore results, meaning that deviance could
increase as a result of the moral panic. An early moral panic involves Mods VS Rockers in 1964.
Events that were actually just a few scuffles between youths and vandalism were report in an
exaggerated way. The media portrayed this event as a Day of Terror and words such as Riots and
battle were used. Cohen suggests over reporting of this far outweighed the importance of the actual
event. He argues that the media tapped into a social consensus, that all the public shared concerns
about the general decline in morality of the young and the emergence of a strong youth culture.
Consequently the two groups were perceived in a stereotypical and distorted way. According to Furedi
(1994) moral panics arise when society fails to adapt to dramatic social change or modernization. For
example, the first moral panics about youth in the 1950s and 1960s coincided with youth becoming a
distinctive consumer group with values, norms of behaviour and

Lorenzo Ghiberti Research Paper
The son of a goldsmith, in Florence, Italy, Lorenzo Ghiberti would become one of the most influential
Artists of the early Renaissance.A child prodigy, he received his first commission at age 23. Ghiberti
multi tasked much of his work including the doors for the Florence baptistery and numerous statues.
He was a student of humanism and incorporated much of its philosophy into his work.
Lorenzo was born in Pelago, near Florence, Italy, in 1378 (the exact month and day of his birth are
unknown). He was well trained by his father, Bartoluccio Ghiberti, a well respected goldsmith in
Florence. In 1392, he was admitted to the Silk and Gold Guild as an apprentice, and by 1398, had

In rendering the doors, Ghiberti adopted the linear grace of the early 15th century gothic style of
Florence to the expressive power of the newer Renaissance style. The result was a heightened illusion

hired Ghiberti to work on another set of doors.
Over the 20 years that he spent working on the doors, Lorenzo Ghiberti also devoted his time to
creating the designs for the stained glass windows of the Florence cathedral, and served as
architectural consultant to the cathedral s building supervisors.
In 1412, the Arte di Calimala gave him another commission: to make a larger than life sized bronze
statue of their patron saint, John the Baptist, outside the guild s communal building, Or San Michele
(also known as Orsanmichele). A bold undertaking, Ghiberti finished the work in 1416 and was
quickly commissioned to do two more similar large bronze statues for the guild. To complete all of
this work, Ghiberti operated a smoothly functioning workshop with many

Othello, The Moor of Venice
The play by William Shakespeare, Othello, The Moor of Venice, was staged for the first time in 1604,
is defined as a tragedy, and Othello as a tragic hero.
Othello is a tale of jealousy and revenge. The game takes place in Venice, while two friends, Roderigo
and Iago, are discussing. Iago has unlucky news: Desdemona, a woman Roderigo hoping to get
married to, has already married Othello, a Moorish General that leads the Republic of Venice Army
troops, who married in great secrecy Desdemona; the daughter of Senator Brabantio. The public soon

This does not prevent Iago from attempting to ruin Othello s marriage. Once again he tells the public
that he will try to frame Cassio and Desdemona as lovers to make Othello jealous. Cassio goes to
Desdemona to ask her to speak to Othello on his behalf. When Othello enters the room, Cassio quickly
becomes very guilty. Iago seizes the opportunity to convince Othello that Desdemona is having a
relationship with Cassio, he succeeds, and Othello gets more and more jealous. Iago designs a plan to
bring Cassio into the room while Othello is near and says he will confess. Cassio enters with Iago,
who has just told him about his lover White. To Othello, it seems that Cassio admits a relationship
with Desdemona. For the rest of the drama, Iago created a flow of lies that affected everyone. These
lies lead to the deaths of Emilia (wife of Iago) and Roderigo. Othello ends up killing Desdemona out
of anger and jealousy, when he learns the truth of her innocence, Iago was discovered and without
repentance, he was imprisoned.

The Secret River
An individual s unique experiences shape their perspective on issues and events, they may share the
same opinion as others while they view the world from a different viewpoint, and this is particularly
relevant in the historical novel, The Secret River by Kate Grenville as the different contexts employed
in the text influence how specific characters are represented. The Secret River is a text that delves into
a dark side of Australian history, through the eyes of an ignorant British convict; William Thornhill.
The novel begins in 18th century London, where Thornhill, a victim of the cruel class system in the
late British society, is transported to Australia as a prisoner after being convicted of stealing. From
there on the text explores the moral choices of the colonists including their ambitions, family and the

The Dreaming is a way for Indigenous people to understand the world through its creation and stories.

The kinship
The kinship is a system that enables people to know precisely where they stand in relation to every
person and a group. It is the heart of Aboriginal culture, and controls all facets of social behaviours.
The Kinship system has been around for tens of thousands of years and is still used today. (Nations,
clans, family groups, 2016). It is a system that determines how people interact with others and how
people become related. Thus, controls who can get married and who supports who. Because there are
over 500 Aboriginal nations across Australia the system is helpful because it simplifies the different
clans and groups that share common kinship and language. (Nations, clans, family groups, 2016)
The Kamilaroi nation s kinship is based a lot around totems, that link between the spiritual world,
creation and the living world ( A Nations Identity Totems , n.d; para 1). Totems are a system that looks
at the community, how people work as a team, and the value of individual skill. (Totems, 2016). In a
way totems provide people with a sense of belonging in relationships between a person and group. In

heroes individual skills? In order to find out how a battle between the two groups would happen we
split the two teams into six different pairs. Each hero was pit against someone who would have a
similar skill set or power level as them. After the sets were created, we then began to find out each
character s individual skills. Assessing the strengths and weaknesses of each hero against the other
created a modest guess on who would win the battle. This is based solely on the skills of each
character and does not factor in battle areas or if the teams were to fight against each other together. ...

Aboriginal persons in Canada have been facing oppression ever since colonization began. Even when
Canada gained independence from the British Empire, the oppression continued and still goes on

Case 8 22: Evaluating a company s budget procedures
1. Identify the problems that appear to exist in Ferguson Son Manufacturing Company s budgetary
control system and explain how the problems are likely to reduce the effectiveness of the system.
Ferguson Son Manufacturing Company has appointed Robert Ferguson, Jr., the son of the president as
the plant manager. He directed the company s focus on budgetary control system. The prime aims of
the system were reducing inefficiencies and seeking cost reductions. However, the results extracted
from the conversation of Tom Emory manager of the machine shop in the company s factory and Jim
Morris manager of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This could significantly damage the reputation of the company as well as make it lose trust from loyal
customers.
To sum up, the budgetary control system had its advantage of knowing in advance what was
happening in each department. While instead of improvement, budgetary control system adopted in
Ferguson Son Manufacturing Company had made the whole working process more worsened.
2. Explain how Ferguson Son Manufacturing Company s budgetary control system could be revised to
improve its effectiveness.
Budgetary control system is an essential management tool that communicates management s plans
throughout the organization, allocates resources, and coordinates activities. Besides, unwise system
can have the negative effects on the performance of the company. Thus, it is vital to develop a
compatible budgeting system which can assist managers in fulfilling long term goals and strategic
plans.
First, drawn from the situation of Ferguson Son Manufacturing Company, it is pointed out that
feasible targets play the first priority in designing the budgeting system. If the goal is too high as in
the case of Ferguson Son Manufacturing Company, then, in the following steps, the whole process
automatically gets into trouble. The company should be realistic when setting any benchmark among
the periods of manufacturing. The conditions of equipment, employees, orders, sales, and the
coordination among other departments should be taken into account to jump to the most suitable

Importance Of The Fifth Amendment
The fifth Amendment Everyday, people wait in a courtroom for a verdict by the grand jury. Once the
jury determines the verdict, the person being tried is not allowed to be tried again without new
evidence. The concept above, is used and enforced in the courts through the fifth amendment. The
fifth amendment is an important amendment because it ensures due process of law, free from self
incrimination, free from double jeopardy, indicted by a grand jury, and the government has the right of
eminent domain (Froseth). The fifth amendment has many parts to it. Each part helps society function.
One case that made the fifth amendment important was Miranda Vs. Arizona. In Miranda Vs. Arizona,
a man named Ernesto Miranda was arrested and brought to jail. While in jail, Miranda was forced to
speak against himself. During this time, Miranda was not read his rights making him believe that the
his fifth amendment right was violated. Miranda brought his case to the supreme court where it ruled
in his favor. The court decided that the fifth amendment of self incrimination was violated and that
police officers are required to tell suspects that they have certain rights while being questioned and
arrested. (Miranda). This case changed American history. Every police officer now needs to tell
everyone in custody you have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be used against
you in the court of law... (Miranda Rights). Because Miranda brought this case to the courts,

ECON 231
Prof. F. Lewis
The focus of this paper is a cross examination of popular literature discussing the effects of Child
Labour laws on the treatment and participation of children in the workforce during the British
Industrial Revolution. Clark Nardinelli, Carolyn Tuttle, and Jane Humphries are the three central
critics whose work will be focused on through the paper s progression, but other works by Peter Kirby,
Sara Pollard, among other critics have also been considered in creating a rounded representation of the
effects of the laws. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This paper will begin with an overview of the incorporation of child labour in Britain, the conditions
in which the children worked, and a summary of the elements of the Acts of 1833 and 1844 the two
laws that are regarded as having made the greatest impact on participation and treatment of the
children. Next, the varying stances of the aforementioned central critics on the effects of the laws
within the textile industry will be reviewed, followed by a discussion of their effects on the education
system; and to conclude the evaluation of the textile industry, a cross evaluation of the various critical
opinions will then be presented. Finally, the paper changes focus from the textile industry to the
effects of the child labour laws on the non textile industries.
During the Industrial Revolution, Britain s working landscape made a dramatic shift from agricultural
to factory based mass production of forged resources such as textiles, iron, and glass. With this change
of focus came the necessity for a greater amount of labour. Employers soon discovered that they could
employ a child in the place of an adult since all workers lacked experience due to the newness of the
technology; the machines were powered by forces other than a man s strength, and they could pay

  • 2. Essay on The Role of Poetry in Narrative Prose of the... If I happen to encounter poetry imbedded within prose, I tend to either skip over it, scan it, or otherwise read it as quickly as possible if it seems uninteresting. I am almost shamed to admit that my reading habits hold no exception for traditional Japanese literature, although I guess I am forced to go back and actually read them thoroughly now, since that happens to be the topic of this paper. First of all, I can grasp the meaning of the poem if it is obvious enough in context. For someone unfamiliar with Japanese literature, history, language, etc., it is difficult to understand, let alone recognize the allusions present. Luckily, Royall Tyler was kind enough to footnote a good majority of the poems for the inexperienced readers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A deep seated sorrow is felt at the loss of her companionship. Yes, yes, it is all very moving and pretty, until one realizes that this is Narihira we are reading about. In the short time I have spent with him and Genji, I have come to develop a distinct dislike for these two characters, which makes me biased against anything involving them, especially their poetry. Just the thought of this poetry being composed by such people, fictional or not, instantly makes it unappealing. Actual correspondence between the men and women in these tales through poetry is even worse; having that as the only form of communication between them seems frustrating. More often than not in its romantic role in stories, poetry only serves to foster wrongful feelings, inciting misplaced passions that lead to shameful misdeeds. I suppose society was simply like that at the time and I should give in and accept it for what it was and be happy that that is not the modern convention. Perhaps it is an ancient form of the current interpreting the text message? Moving on to poetry in a different type of narrative, the Tosa Diary is filled with poetry unconcerned with romantic relationships, comprised of farewells, statements, and descriptions of the strange and horrifying new sights they encounter on the sea bound voyage. Many of them convey melancholic sentiments to their lost loved ones or for fear for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Rossini And Il Barbiere Di Siviglia Essay Rossini and Il Barbiere di Siviglia Gioachino Rossini, like many great composers, was born in the right place at the right time. The musical firmament was still mourning the loss of Wolfgang Mozart in 1792 when Rossini was born. His parents were both gifted musicians, and young Gioachino was in a music conservatory by the age of 14. Rossini composed ten operas within the following seven years and had established himself as a gifted composer in the opera buffa style. This genre of comic opera was strikingly different from the rigorous opera seria, but it still managed to acquire some noticeable traits. Primarily, the arias in opera buffe shirk the da capo style of the seria mold. The subject matter deals frequently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rossini snuck out of the Teatro Argentina and went home, retiring for the evening without so much as a word to anyone. The following evening, however, was a stark contrast. The composer did not attend the performance, but he heard a crowd with torches in the street following the show. He fully expected an angry mob, but was greeted by an adulatory audience shouting Bravo! Almaviva became immensely popular, and the title was eventually changed to Il Barbiere di Siviglia. This alteration established Rossini s work as the ultimate expression of the story, and the work is now considered widely as one of the greatest comic operas ever written. An aria from Barbiere that incorporates many of the typical buffa elements is La calunnia é un venticello from the first act. Often called the Calumny aria , La calunnia is the first aria sung by the unscrupulous music teacher, Don Basilio. He sings to Bartolo about defaming Almaviva through calumny, malicious lies. The aria opens slowly, softly in D major as Basilio describes his slander as a gentle breeze which begins to gather force. Rossini s orchestration embodies this concept, as a simple ascending scale in thirds begins in the strings. The pianissimo marking gives way to piano as the pattern moves to a phrase in b minor. He lived a short life; however, he was able to compose many great pieces of music before he passed away. One of his famous pieces is his Eine Kleine Nachtmusik piece that he wrote in 1787. The piece can be observed as good from a Christian perspective. Art is meant to be felt and not just heard or seen. Mozart was born in Austria in 1756 to a musically inclined family. He put together his first concerto at the age of five. Before he reached the age of six he was playing in the Bavarian courts and in the houses of the noble. His father, Leopold, saw him as a miracle child sent from God. He traveled all over Europe and played for some of the most prestigious people before he was even ten years old. By the age of thirteen, he had written multiple symphonies and began touring with his Italian operatic style (Mozart, 2015). One of his most popular pieces for the Church was entitled, Litaniae de venerabili altaris sacramento. In this piece, he used a range of styles and was known for using fugues and dramatic expressions. At the age of twenty five, he decided to marry Constanze Weber, the daughter of a family friend. Together they had six children of only which two survived. He continued to compose music for all genres and many popular operas such as Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, and Die Zauberflöte. Douglass unlike many men believed that women too were people and deserved all of the rights a man was given. He believed this because black men were previously apart from the equality of all men, and they too should be apart in gaining this equality for all. Douglass, along with other strong willed women, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony, Lucretia Mott, Sojourner Truth, among others, they became the forefront of Women s Suffrage in the 1848 Convention on Woman s Rights at Seneca Falls. After the Civil War granting African Americans their freedom, Frederick Douglass became a political activist against the institution of slavery. He combined his efforts with John Brown, an abolitionist, engaging in strong minded debates in figuring out whether the U.S Constitution was proslavery, antislavery, created for the well being of all men or only white men. Douglass gained the knowledge of political reform and how to go about movements, in his case, abolition movements, and later on assisting in women rights movements. He learned that being looked upon in politics, as an intelligent and well respected individual without pursuing force would be the best way to gain his victory. His goal was to persuade the American public opinion against slavery, while praising democratic freedom and progression of American principles, reaching audiences of all sexes and races. • 10. The York s Play Of Crucifixion As long as humanity has existed, humans have been trying to figure out what humanity is. It has been a topic of discussion for generations by people, and many people have different answers. Oftentimes, authors of various works try to explain humanity through their work. It s often difficult, because we cannot really understand what humanity is. However, some artists get relatively close, and give pretty good explanation as to what it is. The York s Play of Crucifixion especially shows what it means to be human, in a very intelligent and interesting way. What I believe means to be human is imperfection, and that is what this play is outwardly saying. As humans, we physically cannot be perfect. There is not one person on this earth who was, is, or ever will be in the future. We have flaws; we make mistakes, sometimes weren t angry when we simply shouldn t to people who do not deserve it, and everyone does it. It s unavoidable. Humans can be brutal, and whether they mean it or not. The York s Play of Crucifixion shows these faults of humanity when it comes to the soldiers in the play. The play, which is obviously about the Crucifixion of Christ, is actually centered around a group of soldiers who are tasked with crucifying Christ. Although they have no problems with Jesus on the forefront, they are tasked with crucifying him. And, especially in lines 73 90 show how malicious they acted towards him. Carbon is found in all meteorites, and historically, the prevailing view was that all atmospheric carbon found on Earth was in the form of carbon dioxide (Shaw). Recently, however, this viewpoint has been disproved for a number of reasons. The first is that geological evidence would be present if the atmosphere was full of carbon dioxide, which is lacking. The second reason is the delay in oxygenation of the atmosphere following the development of the first oxygen producing microbes. The third reason is the longstanding balance between carbonate carbon and biogenic carbon at a ratio of about 4 to 1 (Shaw). This suggests that it was unlikely that the atmosphere was full of carbon in the form of carbon dioxide. It is believed that the early ocean held most of the carbon. The primordial soup theory suggests that the early ocean had a high concentration of photochemically produced complex organic compounds as well as oxidized sediments, which slowly released carbon dioxide into the atmosphere (Shaw). These factors are also the same factors that likely lead to the initial evolution of primitive life in the ocean. This explanation better fits the geological timeframe for the oxygenation and buildup of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere (Shaw). Chiropractic is a discipline in health science that focuses on restoring health through basic and natural hands on care without taking a surgical or long term medicinal approach. As most of us know that the conventional allopathic medicinal approach targets curing the illness through a set of drug therapy or surgery, the approach of chiropractic is totally different. The primary goal of chiropractic is to alleviate back pain through spine adjustment. Because human spine is a very complex structure, the primary avenue of care in chiropractic is to make your spine more flexible in order to improve your mobility and strength. A licensed chiropractor does spine adjustment, spinal decompression, health assessment for pain management and back bone alignment procedures. A number of times, people suffering from intense back or joint pain complain about nerve pain too. That s because the nerve existing in that joint doesn t get a free space due to misalignment of the spine or joint bones. Because of the misaligned articulation of the joints, existing nerves can be hugely affected. This is when a chiropractor makes some adjustment to align the joint bones or spinal bones. Their integral nature in decision making produces various outlying effects like contagion and feeds into instinctual behaviors such as confidence. The neurons, which were popularized within the field of economics by neuroscientist Marco Iacaboni, have since played a big role in discerning group dynamics. Mirror neurons themselves are a pivotal factor in bridging perception and action as they help prep responses. As discovered by four Italian scientists in Parma, Italy, mirror neurons fire as a function of perception, but it may not lead to any discernable action. Put more straightforward, mirror neurons are a set of neurons that produce a mirror like firing sequence in response to a stimulus, but they do not necessarily cause any physical motor reaction. The scientists who first proposed this phenomenon showed that neurons present in the premotor cortex of macaque monkeys showed near parallel bursts of activity between a perception and actual execution of a particular task, in this case grasping an object. Mirror neurons are unique as they are universal in the brain. They mirror actions, emotions, and even potentially sentiments. Moreover, Iacaboni even went as far to suggest they serve as the basis for complex states such as morality. In this sense mirror neurons have the potential to be major factors within group dynamics as they can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Managed care and its competition is being viewed to solve their issue on the struggle to control rising health care costs. Managed care can be defined a system of delivering health services in which care is delivered by a specified network of providers who agree to comply with the care approaches established through a case management process. Managed care has a one hundred years of history in the United States, and it gained national recognition around mid 1970s. The health maintenance organizations (HMOs) are managed care organizations. There are two categories of MCOs are, preferred provider organizations (PPOs) and point of service plans (POS). There are over half of Americans with health insurance are enrolled in managed care plans. Currently the debate in the United States is in regard to the quality of care provided by MCOs and traditional fee for service plans. Another major issue with managed care is the use of gag clauses in contracts amongst the MCOs and their providers. These clauses limit providers from being more informative to patients about the alternative treatments or the details of reimbursements for providers. In this situation the reaction ends up amplifying the problem out of proportion to its real seriousness. He argues that the media tapped into a social consensus, that all the public shared concerns about the general decline in morality of the young and the emergence of a strong youth culture. Consequently the two groups were perceived in a stereotypical and distorted way. According to Furedi (1994) moral panics arise when society fails to adapt to dramatic social change or modernization. For example, the first moral panics about youth in the 1950s and 1960s coincided with youth becoming a distinctive consumer group with values, norms of behaviour and ...
