Location – Photo Shoot
My shoot will be taking place in two places, my dance studio and my house
(mainly bedroom as pictured). The dance studio has different walls inside with
different decoration on (such as Brick Wall effect and Music Posters) and my
house will give that more homely feeling to my article. As the band Beth is
going to be a ‘Super Fan’ to are Blink 182, the setting of my bedroom makes this
look believable and real, as there is a huge flag with their logo on and a huge
poster next to it.
Practice Photos
As we don’t go to the studio on a Friday
Night, we just practiced the shoot on my
landing in the house. It worked out quite
well because there is a Blink 182 canvas
on that wall so it linked in very well. We
also didn’t bother with make – up etc as it
was just a practice, but Beth already had a
Blink shirt on so it worked out well for
me. I want to give the impression in my
article that Beth doesn’t care about
anything apart from this band and she
isn’t afraid to show it. So in this first
photo I took, I asked Beth to stand with a
huge grin on her face to make it look like
she is proud of her title of ‘Super Fan’.
Practice Photos
Even though we were just messing around for this, I really like this photo that I got of
Beth because you can clearly see the band shirt and she looks very natural and
comfortable in front of the camera.
Practice Photos
With this photo, we wanted to make it look like Beth is beyond obsessed, so she
stood up and leaned against the flag. I am happy with this image as Beth genuinely
looks distressed about the fact she loves this band so much. I want the reader to be
entertained as well as informed.
Stories and Headlines
There needs to be a
variety of stories
mentioned on my
magazine cover in
order to attract more
readers and buyers. I
have thought of
different headlines
and summaries to go
onto my cover. All of
the ideas are based on
Rock Music Bands and
their members as my
genre is Rock so I need
to keep the
information relevant
to the theme. I have
also thought of some
competitions to
include to draw the
reader in.
‘Contents’ Title
In my Initial Ideas PowerPoint, I
mentioned that I had found various scrap
book techniques that I could possibly use
in my magazine. I really like the Bunting
Flag idea especially and I feel that I could
use this in my contents page. I have seen
Bunting with writing on and I think I could
make on the computer flags that spell out
the word ‘Contents’ and that are Pink,
Blue and Yellow (three of the colours
taken from my scheme). I would also like
the writing to be in the same font as my
Masthead because I think it will tie in well
and make my magazine look more tidier.
Stories and Sections
Like in Kerrang, a contents page looks more organised if the stories are in different
categories, this way the reader can go straight to an area of interest if they prefer
than reading through the full issue. On average, there are about nineteen stories in
an issue of Kerrang so I will be using roughly the same amount in my magazine. I
would also like to have six or seven different types of stories in my magazine in order
to provide the reader with a diverse selection of content. I have thought of my
different sections and I have also thought of the stories that can go into them.

I have thought of some
headlines for my article on the

Blink 182 lyrics that have been
slightly adapted to fit my story
and I think this will humour
Blink fans as they will know the
lyrics and this could draw more
readers in.
Main Title
Earlier in the year, I experimented in
Photoshop following a tutorial for
placing an image in text. I would really
like to include this technique in my
magazine and I think a good place to
possibly use it would be for the main
title of my double page spread. I have
found some images on the internet that
I think would be suitable for this
technique. All of the chosen images are
linked to Blink 182 as they are the band
my ‘super fan’ is obsessed with.

Question Ideas
As I have decided to set out my article as an interview between me and the
‘Super Fan’, I have thought of some questions that I am going to include in my
piece. I am going to ask Beth these questions and then publish her answers. I am
looking to ask round about 11 questions because of how many were asked in the
issue of Kerrang that I analysed and that seemed like a good amount. I have
thought of the following:
-How long have you devoted your life to Blink 182?
-Have you ever met any members?
-Roughly, how much would you say you have spent on this band?
-What is your favourite piece of memorabilia and why?
-When was the first time you say the boys live?
-How did you feel when you first saw them?
-Have the band ever done anything that upset you?
-If you could meet Blink 182 right now, what would you say?
-How have this band inspired you on the music front?
-Do you have any other favourite bands?
-How do your family and friends feel about your obsession?
