Learning logs allow students to choose how they record important information from each class in their own words, such as listing, sketching, or charting 3-5 main points, which helps students better retain what they learned. Having students complete learning logs immediately after each lesson in a way that appeals to their preferred learning style makes the material more meaningful and helps students review it more effectively.
