Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo was a Filipino artist who was friends with Jose Rizal. He won a silver medal at an art exhibition in Madrid in 1884. One of his most famous paintings was called "Las Vírgenes Cristianas Expuestas al Populacho". It depicts Christian virgins being exposed to the populace. Hidalgo was considered one of the first Filipino international artists and a Philippine hero for his contributions to art.
