The study assesses the prognostic value of the laboratory risk indicator for necrotizing fasciitis (LRINEC) score in predicting poor outcomes in necrotizing fasciitis (NF) patients. A retrospective analysis from 2000 to 2013 revealed that patients with a higher LRINEC score (≥6) experienced increased rates of septic shock (37%) and mortality (28.8%) compared to those with a lower score (<6). The findings suggest that in addition to its diagnostic utility, LRINEC scoring may effectively identify high-risk patients, emphasizing the need for early diagnosis and intervention.
