Project Loon is a network of balloons traveling in the stratosphere that are designed to provide internet access to rural and remote areas. The balloons float 20 km above the Earth's surface and are carried by winds, which can be used to steer them. They use solar panels and batteries for power. Special antennas on buildings connect people to the balloon network, which bounces signals between balloons and then to the internet back on Earth. Project Loon aims to fill coverage gaps and restore connectivity after disasters.
