Four teams have one win after one week of Lone Star Conference action. League play continues this week with
one game Wednesday, along with two each on Friday and Saturday.
The women’s teams are 27-16-6 overall this season. The squads are currently 8-6-3 combined versus Rocky
Mountain Athletic Conference teams, and 10-4-1 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other
conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Khadidra Debesette, West Texas A&M University, FR, Forward, Rousillac, Trinidad & Tobago, Vessigny Seconday
Debesette broke the school record with four goals against Texas A&M International in WT’s 8-0 rout of the
Dustdevils. She also tied the school record with eight points in that match. Debesette scored the game winning
goal in her first Lone Star Conference match against Eastern New Mexico in the 38th minute resulting in a 2-1
victory.
DEFENSIVE
Julia Hernandez, Texas A&M University - Commerce, SR, Greenville, Texas, Greenville HS
The Lions continue to put Hernandez on their opponent’s best scorer, and she continues to provide senior
leadership on the back line. This week, Hernandez shut down Angelo State and Midwestern State in LSC play,
helping the lions go 1-0-1 in that time.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Haley Mendel, Angelo State University, led the No. 7-ranked Belles to a 1-1-0 record for the week in which
she recorded her fifth goal of the season against Texas Woman’s. Mendel is now tied for third in the LSC in goals
with teammate Sierra Anderson. Mendel also ranks top five in the conference in points (12), points per game
(1.33) and game-winning goals (2).
Amber Polizzi, Eastern New Mexico University, turned in a big performance for the Greyhound soccer team
last week, with a three-point match against Texas A&M-International. She picked up an assist on the first goal
of the game and tallied the game-winning score four minutes later.
Brittany Jones, Texas Woman’s University, scored the game-winner in a 2-1 win over Midwestern State in the
Lone Star Conference opener. With the score knotted at 1-1, she collected a rebound off of MSU defender in
front of the net and found the back of the net to record her first collegiate goal.
Vicky Back, Texas A&M University - Commerce, scored the game winner against No. 7 Angelo State, the only
goal of the game. The goal came on a perfectly executed corner kick in the 13th minute, and Sarah Morris was
credited with the assist.
Courtney Burnette, Midwestern State University, recorded a season-best nine saves and her fourth shutout
of the season in a 0-0 draw against Texas A&M-Commerce on the road ... Stopped four TAMUC shots on goal in
the first 20 minutes of the match ... Ranks 22nd nationally with an .881 save percentage and 39th with a .691
goals against average (5 goals in 651 minutes).
Karissa Stinson, Eastern New Mexico University, made five saves over two games last week. On Saturday, she
earned her third victory of the season, against Texas A&M-International.
Courtney Dippel, West Texas A&M University, picked up her first career LSC win against Eastern New Mexico
with two saves and allowing one goal. She played 70:47 minutes of shutout soccer for the Lady Buffs in their
8-0 victory over Texas A&M-International.
Madison Purdy, Texas Woman’s University, was the leader on defense in the two games last week and helped
the Pioneers to a 1-1 record. She scored the fastest goal in school history by finding the back of the net 46
seconds into the game against Midwestern State in a 2-1 win. Purdy led the defense that allowed one goal
(own goal) against MSU on Friday and held No. 7 Angelo State and its high-powered offense to 0 shots in the
first half on Sunday. On the season she started all nine games on defense and helped the team allow just seven
goals.
Ashley Exford, Angelo State University, helped the No. 7 ranked Belles to a 1-1-0 record with two outstanding
performances against Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas Woman’s University. Combined, the Belles held the two
teams to just one goal. Exford leads the Belles with 754 minutes played this season and was an integral part to
the team’s fourth shutout of the year against TWU.

Eastern New Mexico
Last week, the Greyhounds split a pair of contest, with a setback against West Texas A&M and a victory over
Texas A&M-International. Although Eastern jumped out to a quick lead over the Lady Buffs, they suffered their
first loss in the series since the 2012 season. On Saturday, Eastern’s tallied four goals in the first half for the first
time since early in the 2008 season. The Greyhounds went on to a 4-1 win, with Amber Polizzi posting a three-
point game and Karissa Stinson notching her third win of the season. This week, Eastern will visit Midwestern

Midwestern State
Midwestern State opened Lone Star Conference play with a 0-1-1 record last weekend on the road. The
Mustangs fell 2-1 to Texas Woman’s in the conference opener before battling Texas A&M-Commerce to a 0-0
draw. The Mustangs begin a four-match homestand beginning Friday against Eastern New Mexico before taking
on West Texas A&M on Sunday.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lions defeated No. 7 Angelo State in the LSC opener on Friday evening in Commerce by a tally of 1-0. The
lone goal came on a perfectly executed corner kick 13 minutes into the game. Vicky Back was credited with her
seventh goal of the year. On Sunday, the Lions shutout Midwestern State but failed to record a goal of their
own, resulting in their first tie of the season. This week, A&M-Commerce will see Texas Woman’s with hopes of
their third straight shutout to open LSC action in 2015.
Texas Woman’s
TWU is 5-3-1 on the season after posting a 1-1 record last week. The Pioneers started their 2015 Lone Star
Conference schedule fast as they scored a goal in the first minute in a 2-1 win over visiting Midwestern State
Friday night at TWU Soccer Field. TWU then fell to No. 7 Angelo State 2-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers
held ASU and it high-powered offense to 0 shots in the first half. Senior Madison Purdy scored the fastest
goal in school history by finding the back of the net 46 seconds into the game against MSU. After an own goal
that tied the score at 1-1, freshman Brittany Jones gave TWU a 2-1 lead with her first collegiate goal. Senior
goalkeeper Ariana Morrison played all 180 minutes in the net for TWU and made nine saves. On the season
Morrison has a 0.76 GAA and .875 save percentage. Senior Natalia Diaz is the leader on offense with three
goals, four assists and 10 points.
West Texas A&M
The Lady Buffs opened their 2015 Lone Star campaign with a 2-1 victory over rival Eastern New Mexico in
Portles. WT was led by goals from Rachel Herring and Khadidra Debesette. It was Debesette’s second game
winning goal this season. WT lost to Dallas Baptist 4-0 on Saturday before returning home for a Monday
matinee matchup with Texas A&M-International. The Lady Buffs dominated the Dustdevils in every aspect of
the game in a 8-0 victory. Debesette set a new school record with four goals, including three in the first half. The
Lady Buffs defense limited TAMUI to four shots at Courtney Dippel and Ashley Avila combined for the shutout.
