LSC BASKETBALL
The Tarleton State men posted two more wins to remain perfect on the season at 7-0. The Texans are the only
unbeaten Lone Star Conference squad and one of 21 unbeaten in NCAA Division II men’s basketball. Four other
LSC teams have only one loss including the Angelo State men, and Midwestern State, TSU and West Texas A&M
women.
This week teams will focus on academics before resuming non-conference play with nine games on the
men’s side and 10 for the women.
The LSC men have a 44-22 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s
teams are currently 12-5 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 8-6 against the Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference.
The LSC women are 31-31 overall. The women’s squads are currently 10-16 combined against the Heartland,
and 6-3 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.
The LSC champion will be the regular season winner determined by league games, while the postseason
tournament winner is designated as LSC Tournament Champion and earns the conference’s automatic
qualification. The top eight teams in the final conference standings qualify for the postseason tournament set
for March 4-7 in Allen, Texas.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
MEN’S OFFENSIVE
Chris Jones, Angelo State University, SR, Guard, Dallas, Texas, Lakeview Centennial
Jones put on an offensive exhibition last week where he averaged 18.5 points per game and also dished out
11 assists to help lead Angelo State to two convincing wins. Jones started the week with 14 points and three
rebounds as the Rams cruised to an 85-52 win over Western New Mexico and then poured in 23 points and had
eight assists in a tough-earned win over Texas-Permian Basin on Saturday. Jones shot 72.7 percent for the week
after making 16 of 22 shots and also had four steals and averaged 4.0 rebounds per game. Jones is averaging
15.3 points per game and leads the team with 47 assists and 26 steals through nine games this season.
MEN’S DEFENSIVE
Darrell Williams, Texas A&M University - Commerce, SR, Forward, Chicago, Ill., Dunbar Vocational HS
Williams totally dominated both the boards this week as the Lions defeated Dallas Baptist and Southern
Arkansas. He averaged 17.5 rebounds a game including 20 rebounds against DBU and 15 versus SAU. Williams
averaged a double-double on the week averaging 15.5 points. The senior was a force defensively protecting
the rim and helping hold the opposition to 35-percent shooting. Williams also provided three blocks and three
steal.
WOMEN’S OFFENSIVE
Sasha Watson, West Texas A&M University, SO, Guard, Amarillo, Texas, Palo Duro HS
Watson had an outstanding week as she went a blistering 16 of 22 from the field (.727) in 52 minutes of
work for the Lady Buffs in a pair of wins over Oklahoma Panhandle State and Oklahoma Christian. Against
OC, Watson went a career-best 9 of 15 from the field with seven steals and her first triple of the season for a
career-high 22 points. Against OPSU, she went a perfect 7 for 7 from the field with five steals in the 108-59
victory. For the week, she averaged a team-high 19.0 points and had eight assists with 12 steals in her fourth
and fifth career starts.
WOMEN’S DEFENSIVE
La’Tisha Hearne, Texas A&M University - Commerce, SR, Forward, Richardson, Texas, Richardson HS
Hearne recorded her third double-double on Saturday, scoring 20 points to go with her 14 rebounds as the
Lions beat Rogers State in overtime 62-55. The senior forward got herself to the free throw line for a whopping
22 attempts, draining 16 of them. When the stakes were highest, she delivered by sinking three free throws.
Hearne chipped in a block and two steals on the night, establishing her presence on both ends of the court as
the Lions held the visiting Hillcats to a paltry 25 percent from the field.
MEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Chris Wyms, Eastern New Mexico University, scored a career-high 27 points and dished out a career-best
nine assists in a victory at Northern New Mexico. He was 8-for-14 from the field including 4-of-8 on three-pointers
and made all seven of his free throw attempts. Against Texas-Permian Basin, Wyms scored 11 points,
dished out a game-high six assists and recorded a block and steal. For the week he averaged 19.0 ppg, 7.5 apg,
3.5 rpg, shot 50.0 percent from the field, was 6-for-13 (46.2%) from beyond the arc and made all 10 of his free
throw attempts. Wyms also posted a 3.8 assist-to-turnover ratio with 15 assists to only four turnovers.
Anthony Adams, Texas A&M University - Commerce, played a major roll in the two wins this week for the
Lions. In the win over Southern Arkansas he shot 6-for-8 from the floor and 3-for-4 from beyond the arc. In the
Win over Dallas Baptist he registered a double-double scoring 20 points on 7-for-17 shooting and 3-for-6 from
3-point range to go along with 10 boards. Adams had a 2.7 assist per turnover ratio this week.
Miles Gatewood, West Texas A&M University, led the Buffs to their fourth win in their last five outings as
WT defeated Lubbock Christian at home last Wednesday, 67-58. Gatewood led the team from the field with 18
total points, shooting 7-for-13 (.538). He sank three of four free throws to help the Buffs hold the lead late and

Mo Lee, Tarleton State University, filled up the stat sheet for No. 7 Tarleton State last week as the senior led
the Texans to its second consecutive – and second under head coach Lonn Reisman – 7-0 start to the year. The
senior from the Bronx, NY averaged 14.0 points per game over two games last week with back-to-back 14-point
efforts. He was 8-16 shooting from the floor and a perfect 12-12 from the charity stripe, including 4-4 over the
final 15 seconds to seal Tarleton’s win against St. Mary’s. Lee also grabbed six rebounds, dished out six assists
and swiped a team-high five steals.
Davene Carter, Tarleton State University, was dominant on the defensive end of the court for No. 7 Tarleton
in a pair of wins last week to lift the Texans to their second straight 7-0 start to the season. The senior from
Duncanville led the Texans in rebounding with 11 over the last two games, including nine on the defensive end,
while also blocking a team-best four shots. He also scored 25 points in two games on 9-10 shooting from the
floor. As a team, Carter’s Texans held Arlington Baptist and St. Mary’s to 54.5 points per game on a .393 team
shooting percentage from the floor.
Tavarion Nix, Midwestern State University, played a key role on the defensive end helping Midwestern
State to a pair of decisive victories over McMurry and College of Faith (Ark.) last week at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
The senior from Havelock, N.C. averaged 9.0 points and 9.5 rebounds in just 19.5 minutes per game as the
Mustangs produced a 35.5-point margin of victory. The 6-7, 205-pounder snared 14 defensive rebounds and
blocked three shots to go along with a steal as MSU limited the opposition to 55.5 points and 35.1-percent
shooting. Nix delivered his first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds against McMurry.
Carl White, West Texas A&M University, led the Buffs defensively in their fourth win in the previous five
contests, helping West Texas A&M defeat Lubbock Christian, 67-58. The game marked the first time the Buffs
held an opponent to under 60 points, along with .438 shooting from the field, largely in part to White’s play
on the defensive end. The freshman picked up nine of his 12 total rebounds on defensive glass and also added
three steals and a block to his stat line.
Demario Mayfield, Angelo State University, continued to show his versatility last week by leading the Rams
with 8.0 rebounds per game to go along with five steals, 13 assists and 13.5 points per game as the Rams
improved to 8-1 on the season with a pair of wins over Western New Mexico and Texas-Permian Basin. Mayfield
finished the week with his third double-double of the season when he scored 23 points and had 11 rebounds
against UTPB when he also had eight assists. Mayfield leads the Rams this season with 16.8 points and 7.0
rebounds per game and has scored 20 or more points in four games this season.

Jazzmine Robinson, Cameron University, paced the Aggies with 27 points, four short of a career mark she
just made one week prior at Canyon, Texas. She shot 52.4 percent (11-21) from the field, eight rebounds, with
four assists and four steals against Southwestern Oklahoma. In her last four games, Robinson has averaged
24.75 points and has hit 52 percent of her shots from the field. So far this season she leads the Lone Star
Conference with 18.1 points per game. Robinson has also averaged 8.7 rebounds per contest.

Dianna Jones, Midwestern State University, poured in a season-high 20 points knocking down four free
throws during a game-ending 7-0 run to help Midwestern State overcome a late deficit to claim its sixth-straight
win 70-66 over Arkansas-Fort Smith Wednesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The senior guard from Hewitt
connected on 6-of-13 shots from the field and was 8-of-9 from the charity stripe as the Mustangs matched their
best start in program history at 7-1. Jones has scored in double figures in each of her last seven games to up her
average to a team leading 13.8 points per game. She also leads the LSC dishing out 3.8 assists per contest.
Micah Weaver, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, went 8-of-16 to finish with a game-high 19 points in
the Javelinas’ lone regular season contest last week at St. Mary’s... the 19 points were a career-high for the
sophomore... the Poth, Texas native added a career best nine rebounds against the Lady Rattlers.
Jasmine Patterson, Angelo State University, led the Belles in scoring off the bench by averaging 14.5 per
game in wins over McMurry and St. Edward’s. The junior scored a season-high 15 points in the ASU’s first home
win of the season. She was a perfect seven-of-seven from the floor and grabbed six rebounds. The Frisco native
recorded her third game in double figures with 14 points.
Kathy Thomas, Tarleton State University, continued her torrid pace last week with a near-triple double
performance against Arlington Baptist, who entered the game ranked No. 1 in the nation in the NCCAA, to push
the TexAnn winning streak to four. Thomas scored 11 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out six assists
for the TexAnns. She also forced two steals in the Tarleton win.
Karli Moore, Tarleton State University, filled up the stat sheet for Tarleton State, including a career-high three
blocks, against Arlington Baptist, who entered the game ranked No. 1 in the nation in the NCCAA. In addition
to the three blocks, Moore also grabbed six rebounds – including five defensive boards – while also scoring 10
points and dishing out four assists in Tarleton’s win Tuesday night.

Shambreka Jones, Midwestern State University,
played a key role down the stretch to spur a 7-0
game-ending run to lift Midwestern State to its sixth-straight
victory with a 70-66 win over Arkansas-Fort
Smith Wednesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The
6-foot senior from Mesquite made a key steal in the
final and converted a 10-foot jumper in the paint to
give MSU a 67-66 lead. Jones recorded a stat line of
nine points, seven rebounds, two blocks and a steal
in 24 minutes as the Mustangs limited the Lady Lions
to a 39.3-percent shooting night. She continues to
lead the Lone Star Conference swatting 1.9 shots per
game.
Chontiquah White, West Texas A&M University,
tallied a season-high 26 points and 16 rebounds
against Oklahoma Panhandle State highlighting the
week. She went 10 of 17 for a .588 clip and a perfect
10 of 10 from the free throw line in a pair of wins
over OPSU and Oklahoma Christian to run the Lady
Buff winning streak to six. White averaged a double-double
with 15 points per game and 10 rebounds
per game. She had three assists and one block in
47 minutes of work. White and the Lady Buff “D”
stymied both opponents forcing 57 turnovers with 35
steals and held the opposition to shoot just .384 from
the field and average just 29.5 rebounds per game
and 64.5 points per game.

Angelo State
The Rams picked up a pair of non-conference wins
last week with an 85-52 win at Western New Mexico
before taking a 91-79 win over Texas-Permian Basin
on Saturday. The Rams limited the potent Falcons to
a season-low in points after they entered the game
as the nation’s fourth leading scoring team. ASU is
outscoring its opponents 89.3-63.9 this season and
has won its last three games. Ranked No. 16 in the
nation last week in the D2SIDA Media Poll, the Rams
are shooting 54.4 percent from the field and are
limiting their opponents to 38.9 percent. Demario
Mayfield leads the Rams with 16.8 points and 7.0
rebounds per game, while Chris Jones is adding 15.3
points per game and tops the team with 47 assists
and 26 steals. Marsell Holden leads the Rams with 21
3-pointers this season and is averaging 12.7 points
per game, while Raijon Kelly is averaging 9.6 points
per game after scoring 14 last Monday at WNMU and
then 15 on Saturday against UTPB on a 7 of 8 shooting
performance against the Falcons. The Rams play one
game this week with a contest at McMurry on Friday
in Abilene.
Cameron
Deondre Ray paced the Aggies with 20 points to
lead them a 68-61 win at Oklahoma Christian on
Saturday. The victory for the Aggies snapped a three-game
losing streak and sends them to 4-3 overall.
Cameron was aided by 10 steals and netted 22 points
which helped guide the Ags to the win. Henry was
CU’s leading rebounder with six, he would also add
13 points, and have a career high seven assists.
Despite shooting 3-19 at the arc, the Aggies shot 45.9
percent on the floor; Oklahoma Christian went 40.8
percent on their side of the court. Cameron won the
rebounding battle by six with 37 boards, and had five
fewer turnovers with 12 overall. Cameron will be off
until Saturday, Dec. 13 where they will host Rogers
State at the Aggie Gym.
Eastern New Mexico
Eastern New Mexico went 1-1 last week with a win
at Northern New Mexico and a loss to Texas-Permian
Basin in the Greyhounds’ home opener. Lawrence
Domingo led the team with 12 points and was one of
four players with a team-high five rebounds against
the Falcons while Chris Wyms recorded 11 points and
six assists in the contest as well. Domingo and Wyms
both had career-high nights against the Eagles. Wyms
led the team with 27 points and nine assists while
Domingo recorded 23 points, including the game-winning
layup with six seconds remaining, and eight
rebounds. For the week, Wyms averaged 19.0 ppg,
7.5 apg and 3.5 rpg. Domingo put up 17.5 ppg and a
team-best 6.5 rpg and 1.5 spg. This week ENMU plays
at UTPB on Saturday in there lone game of the week.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State claimed victories in a pair of home
games over McMurry (Texas) (77-49) and College of
Faith (Ark.) (105-62) to extend its winning streak at
D.L. Ligon Coliseum to 10 games dating back to last
season... MSU’s 43-point win over College of Faith
was the Mustangs’ largest margin of victory since
beating Mid-America Christian 104-55 on Dec. 30,
2010 at Ligon Coliseum... The Mustangs eclipsed
the 100-point barrier with a 105-62 win over College
of Faith (Ark.) for the first time since beating Paul
Quinn (Texas) 105-77 on March 3, 2013... MSU has
scored 100-or-more points three times in the Nelson
Haggerty era... Each of MSU’s six wins this season has
been by 10-or-more points... The Mustangs’ average
margin of victory in their six wins is 24.8 points per
game... Midwestern shot over 50 percent in both
games last week going for 53.4 percent against
McMurry and 57.7 percent against College of Faith...
The Mustangs assisted on a campaign-high 26 of 41
made field goals Friday against College of Faith... Six
different Mustangs scored in double figures and three
others scored at least eight points Friday against
College of Faith... Senior forward Abiodun Adegoke
needed just 30 minutes over two games to average
12 points and five rebounds last week while shooting
84.6 percent (11-of-13) from the floor... Adegoke
scored a team-high 15 points going 7-for-8 from the
floor while pulling down eight rebounds Thursday
against McMurry... Redshirt-freshman Devante
Pullum averaged 10.5 points and seven assists in
22 minutes a game against McMurry and College of
Faith last week... Pullum dished out a career-best 10
assists against McMurry before notching 15 points
on 6-of-9 shooting including three 3-pointers while
handing out four assists against College of Faith...
Pullum has scored in double figures in three of his
last four games... Sophomore forward Trevor Fuller
produced his best two offensive games of the season
going for 10 points in six minutes against McMurry
then notching a season-best 11 points in 11 minutes
against College of Faith... Fuller has made 10 of his
last 11 field goal attempts over his last three games...
Junior guard Thad Rideau erupted for a season-high
15 points knocking down three 3-pointers with a
blocked shot and two steals Friday against College
of Faith... Senior forward Tavarion Nix averaged 9.0
points and 9.5 rebounds last week against McMurry
and College of Faith... Nix notched double-double at
Midwestern with 10 points and 10 rebounds Thursday
against McMurry... Senior forward Xavier Blackburn
scored in double figures for the fourth consecutive

Tarleton State
No. 7 Tarleton State remained the lone undefeated
team in the Lone Star Conference with a pair of wins
over Arlington Baptist and St. Mary’s. This marks
the second straight season and the second in Lonn
Reisman’s tenure in which the Texans have opened
the season 7-0. Tarleton will return to action Dec. 15
against Paul Quinn at 7 p.m. in Stephenville.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The A&M-Commerce men’s basketball team has won
five games in a row after picking up two home wins
over Southern Arkansas 93-85 and Dallas Baptist 77-
55. The Lions relied on great defense holding Dallas
baptist to only 27 percent shooting and only 55
points. The Patriots had been previously averaging
over 90 points a game. Darrell Williams continues
his dominating performances picking up two more
double-doubles averaging 17.5 rebounds a game and
15.5 points per game.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
Texas A&M University-Kingsville went 0-2 last week,
falling to St. Mary’s on Tuesday, 60-55, and Texas
A&M International, 88-83... against the Rattlers,
Troy Jones finished with 14 points, 11 rebounds and
five steals and Jordan Jahr added 15 points... the
following day, Jones scored 17 and Don Thomas and
DJ Weathers came off the bench to combine for 33
points... the Javelinas return to action on Monday,
Dec. 15 at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla.
West Texas A&M
The West Texas A&M men’s basketball team rolled to
its fourth win in its previous five games as it defeated
Lubbock Christian, 67-58, at home in the First United
Bank Center in Canyon on Wednesday night. The
contest marked the first in which the Buffs held an
opponent to under 60 points in a game this season.
The Buffs were led offensively by seniors Tez Dumars
and Miles Gatewood who combined for 37 points to
improve the Buffs’ record to 4-4. They will be back in
action on Saturday, Dec. 13 to host St. Gregory’s in
Canyon at 4 p.m.

Angelo State
The Belles won two-straight games at the Junell
Center with wins over McMurry and St. Edward’s.
ASU is now 3-5 on the season and have won three
of their last four games. Jasmine Caston is scoring
16.4 points per game which is second in the LSC while
Jackie Patterson is averaging 11.3 points per game.
The Belles are shooting 40.5-percent on the season
while holding opponents to 36.5-percent.

Eastern New Mexico
The Eastern New Mexico University women’s
basketball team took a break from the regular season
schedule to play a pair of exhibition games against
nearby NCAA Division I schools. Last Tuesday, the Zias
dropped an 84-49 decision at University of Texas-El
Paso and followed with a 79-51 loss at New Mexico
State. Against the Aggies, senior forward Tori Tucker
exploded for 30 points, on a 10-16 performance
from the field. On Friday, Eastern will play Heartland
Conference powerhouse, Texas A&M-International,
at The Rock, in Clovis.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State scored the final seven points of
the game to pull out a 70-66 win over Arkansas-Fort
Smith Wednesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum... The
Mustangs have matched the program’s best start
through eight games and are 7-1 for the fifth time in
school history and first time since 2012-13... With a
win Saturday against Lubbock Christian, the Mustangs
would move to 8-1 for just the third time in program
history (2003-04, 1989-90)... The Mustangs improved
to 5-1 at Ligon Coliseum this season with the only
loss coming to top-ranked Emporia State (Kan.)...
The current group of seniors is 39-8 (.830) on Gerald
Stockton Court... Senior guard Dianna Jones poured
in a season-high 20 points going 6-of-13 from the
field and 8-of-9 from the charity stripe in MSU’s 70-
66 win Wednesday night over Arkansas-Fort Smith...
Jones has scored in double figures in each of her last
seven games... Jones leads the LSC in assists with 3.8
per game... Senior guard Shatoia Gober notched her
first double-double of the season with 12 points and
10 rebounds against Arkansas-Fort Smith. It was her
fifth career double-double... Senior forward Andrea
Carter grabbed double-figure rebounds for the sixth
time this season pulling down 14 against Arkansas-
Fort Smith narrowly missing her sixth double-double
of the campaign finishing with eight points... Carter
leads the LSC averaging 12 boards per game while
ranking 17th in NCAA Division II... Senior forward
Shambreka Jones finished with nine points and seven
rebounds while swatting two more shots against
Arkansas-Fort Smith... Jones continues to lead the
LSC with 1.9 blocked shots per game... Senior guard
Lisa Hampton connected on three more 3-pointers to
finish with nine points against Arkansas-Fort Smith...
Hampton has connected on a triple in each game this
season and has at least three in each of her last five
games connecting on 20 of 40 (50 percent) from the
arc over the stretch... Hampton leads the LSC and
is 22nd nationally with 3.13 made 3-pointers per
game... Hampton moved into a tie for eighth place
on MSU’s all-time made 3-pointers list with Lynn
Buckmaster (108 from 1992-94) and J.J. Anderson
(108 from 1997-01). She needs eight more to move
into third past Kirsti Degelia (111 from 2010-14), Trish
Young (111 from 1990-92), Mindy Myers (112 from
1990-94) and Julie Lovett (115 from 1993-97)...
Tarleton State
Tarleton pushed its winning streak to four in a row
with an 86-60 win over NCCAA No. 1 Arlington Baptist
Tuesday night. The TexAnns will return to action on
Dec. 15 in Winter Park, Fla., against Indianapolis in
the Rollins Tournament.
Texas A&M-Commerce
1-0 last week.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
Texas A&M University-Kingsville fell in its lone regular
season matchup last week, a nonconference tilt at St.
Mary’s... the Javelinas were led by Micah Weaver’s 19
points (8-of-16) and nine rebounds... the Hogs host
St. Edward’s on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 5 p.m.
Texas Woman’s
The TWU basketball team is 4-4 on the season after
dropping both games last week. The Pioneers suffered
a 58-52 loss to Lubbock Christian before losing to UT-Permian
Basin 58-54. Against Lubbock Christian, TWU
held the Lady Chaps to 22 points under their season
average as LCU came into the game averaging 80.8
points per game. The Pioneers also outrebounding
the much bigger Lubbock Christian team, 41-36, and
had four players score nine or more points led by
senior Ria Pateraki and sophomore Emily Spector with
11 points each. Against UTPB Spector recorded her
second double-double of the season with a career-high
19 points and 11 rebounds. The Pioneers’ stellar
first half defense continued as they held UTPB to six
field goals and 24.0 percent shooting in the opening
20 minutes of play. TWU has held six of its last seven
opponents to under 30 percent shooting and single-digit
field goals in the first 20 minutes. For the week
Spector led the team on offense with 15.0 ppg while
junior Danielle Westerfield was the leader on defense
with 7.0 rpg. Spector and Pateraki both averaged 6.5
rebounds per game.
West Texas A&M
The Lady Buffs ran their winning streak to six games
with a 108-59 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State
and an 83-70 victory over Oklahoma Christian this
week...The Lady Buffs shot a season-best .550 from
the field on 71 of 129 for the week and were 11 of
32 from beyond the arc...The free throw line still hurt
the Lady Buffs as they went just 38 of 56 for a .679
clip...WT averaged 43 rebounds per game and scored
95.5 points per game for a season-high in each for
the week...Sophomore Sasha Watson led the team
averaging 19.0 points as she was a blistering 16 of
22 from the field and tallied 12 steals for the week...
Senior Chontiquah White averaged a doubled-double
with 15 points and 10 rebounds per game...White
was 10 of 17 from the field and a perfect 10 of 10
from the line...WT held the opposition to .384 from
the field, .333 from beyond the arc and .744 from
the line...The opponents averaged just 29.5 rebounds
per game and scored 64.5 points...Against OPSU, WT
used a 21-0 run to pull ahead for the largest win of
the season and the most points since scoring 110 at
Texas A&M-Commerce in 2012...Against OC, the Lady
Buffs trailed at halftime for the first time this season
by two points 39-37, but outscored the Eagles 46-31
in the second half.
