LSC BASKETBALL
The Tarleton State men are the only unbeaten Lone Star Conference team and one of 13 undefeated in NCAA
Division II men’s basketball at 8-0, which matches the Texans start last season.
	 The Angelo State men continue to roll through their non-conference schedule with just one loss at 9-1.
	 On the women’s side, Midwestern State matched the best start in program history through nine games by
improving to 8-1 for the third time (2003-04, 1989-90), while West Texas A&M has won seven straight to equal
last year’s 7-1 start.
	 Last week, the men’s teams won eight of nine non-conference contests, while the women were 7-3.
	 This week’s action includes 15 non-conference games for the men and 12 for the women before the NCAA
Division II Winter Break.
	 The LSC men have a 52-23 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s
teams are currently 13-6 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 8-6 against the Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference.
	 The LSC women are 38-34 overall. The women’s squads are currently 13-17 combined against the Heartland,
and 6-3 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.
	 The LSC champion will be the regular season winner determined by league games, while the postseason
tournament winner is designated as LSC Tournament Champion and earns the conference’s automatic
qualification. The top eight teams in the final conference standings qualify for the postseason tournament set
for March 4-7 in Allen, Texas.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
MEN’S OFFENSIVE
Chris Wyms, Eastern New Mexico University, JR, Guard, Carson, Calif., King/Drew HS/Cerritos College
Wyms led the Greyhounds rally from a 14-point deficit at University of Texas of the Permian Basin for a 102-99
win. He finished the contest with a career-high 29 points and was a perfect 5-5 outside the three-point line and
a near perfect 12-13 at the free throw line. In the second half, Wyms accounted for 25 of Eastern’s 64 points
and committed just a single turnover in 17 minutes. ENMU trailed 98-97, when the junior hit four straight
free throws to give them the lead for good. The contest marked the second straight 20-point performance for
Wyms.
MEN’S DEFENSIVE
Carl White, West Texas A&M University, FR, Guard, Chicago, Ill., Edwin G. Foreman HS
White was a huge defensive presence for the Buffs on Saturday as they defeated St. Gregory’s 89-49 while
holding the Cavaliers to .283 shooting from the field (17-for-60). White grabbed six of his eight rebounds on the
defensive end while adding two blocks and four steals with 11 points.
WOMEN’S OFFENSIVE
Chontiquah White, West Texas A&M University, SR, Center, Dallas, Texas, Life School Oak Cliff
Scored 26 points in the Lady Buffs’ 84-63 win over Texas A&M-International Sunday to run the WT winning
streak to seven games. White was 8 of 17 from the field and 1 of 4 from beyond the arc, while going 9 of 10
from the line. She pulled down eight rebounds with three assists and one steal. The 26 points tied her season-
high as she scored 13 points in each half. White moved into 11th all-time in school history in scoring with 1,289
career points and moved into third all-time in made free throws with 466.
WOMEN’S DEFENSIVE
Kenesha Saygo, Texas Woman’s University, SO, Guard, Keller, Texas, Killeen Ellison
Saygo came off the bench and led the Pioneers on defense to two wins in Puerto Rico while holding opponents
to .340 field goal percentage. Playing in an open-air gym setting with temperatures in the mid 80s, she averaged
a team-best 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 8.0 points and 3.0 assists. Saygo recorded seven rebounds and three
steals against Puerto Rico-Mayaguez and then added 12 points and 6 rebounds against the host Puerto Rico-
Bayamon. The sophomore also sealed the win against UPRB by hitting 5 of 6 free-throws in the final minutes.
MEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
	 Bretson McNeal, Midwestern State University, poured in a season-high 27 points to lead Midwestern
State to a 90-83 win over previously unbeaten Lynn (Fla.) Monday night in Boca Raton. The junior guard from
Minneapolis scored 24 of his 27 points after halftime including a consecutive 3-pointers to tie the game at 61-
61 with less than two minutes to play as MSU overcame an 11-point deficit with 7:10 to in regulation. McNeal
scored 13 points in the second and totaled 11 in the two overtime periods against a Fighting Knight squad
which came in ranked second in the D2SIDA South Region rankings with a 6-0 mark. McNeal need just five shots
from the field to score 13 points including a pair of treys in a 75-55 win over Nova Southeastern Saturday night
in Fort Lauderdale. For week, McNeal average 20 points on 10-of-20 shooting including six 3-pointers while
connecting on 14 of 15 free throws.
	 Davene Carter, Tarleton State University, didn’t miss a beat after a nine-day layoff for finals. The senior from
Duncanville recorded his sixth career double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead Tarleton’s best
offensive performance of the year in a 100-65 blowout of Paul Quinn. Carter was 9-16 from the floor and of his
13 rebounds; eight were offensive including a tip-slam off a missed free throw in the second half. Carter also

had a team-high two blocks on the night.
	 Chris Jones, Angelo State University, led the Rams with 18 points and six assists in a 101-48 non-conference
win over McMurry last Friday in the team’s only game of the week. Jones, who is averaging 15.6 points per
game this season, is leading the Rams and the conference with 53 assists and 27 steals and is also averaging 4.3
rebounds per game. Jones went 7 of 9 from the field against the War Hawks and is shooting a blistering 64.4
percent (67-104) from the field this season.
	 Antjuan Ball, West Texas A&M University, led the Buffs to their fifth win in their last six games on Saturday
as they defeated St. Gregory’s 89-49. Ball led WT with 18 points on the night as he went 9-for-12 from the field,
including 7-for-7 in the first half. He added eight total rebounds, four assists, and a steal in the contest.
	 Demario Mayfield, Angelo State University, recorded his fourth double-double of the season with a 14
rebound, 11 point performance for the Rams in their 101-48 win over McMurry last Friday in Abilene. Mayfield,
who also had a steal, led the Rams with 11 defensive rebounds and also secured three on the offensive side of
the court. He leads the Rams this season with 16.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per game and has also added 20
steals and 34 assists.
	 Hershell Grant, Midwestern State University, played a key role in helping Midwestern State to a pair of wins
over Nova Southeastern and Lynn over the weekend in Florida. The 6-3 guard from Washington, D.C. played a
role in shutting down reigning Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week Chris Page, who came into the
week averaging 24 points per game but managed just nine points on 4-of-8 shooting against the Mustangs.
Grant, who finished with 10 points and five rebounds against Nova Southeastern, splashed in 12 points and
pulled down eight rebounds to help MSU overcome an 11-point deficit with 7:10 to go in regulation to come
away with a 90-83 win in double overtime Monday night against Lynn.
	 Damion Clemons, Tarleton State University, grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds to help No. 6 Tarleton
handle Paul Quinn 100-65 in the Texans’ return to action Monday night. Clemons, a senior from Dallas, led the
team in defensive rebounds with eight and also added eight points, three assists and a blocked shot for the
night.
	 John GIlliam, Eastern New Mexico University, registered five rebounds and a pair of blocks as part of the
Greyhounds’ defensive effort at Texas-Permian Basin. ENMU limited the Falcons to just a pair of three-point
baskets in seven attempts in the second half.
WOMEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
	 Dianna Jones, Midwestern State University, poured in a season-high 24 points to lead Midwestern State to a
73-70 win over Lubbock Christian Saturday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum as the Mustangs stopped NCAA Division
II’s longest road winning streak at 17 games. The senior from Hewitt connected on 7-of-14 shots from the field
including a pair of 3-pointers while going 8-for-10 from the charity stripe to deliver her second consecutive
20-point performance. Jones raised her season scoring average to 14.9 points and continues to lead the LSC
with 3.7 assists per game.
	 Jade Herl, Cameron University, made three triples in the final three minutes, including a game winner in a
82-81 victory on the road at Southeastern Oklahoma on Monday night. The Savage Strom entered their contest
9-1 against CU and it was the Aggies first win in four years against Southeastern Oklahoma. Herl had a team
high 19 points with five three pointers and four free-throws, along with four rebounds, and a steal. In eight
games this season, Herl has averaged 11.8 points per game and has hit 24 three pointers this season.
	 Sarah Stinnett, Eastern New Mexico University, scored a career-best against defending Heartland Conference
champion Texas A&M-International to go along with five rebounds and three assists. In the second half, her 11
points and four rebounds helped the Zias to seal the victory, with four points and two caroms in the final five
minutes.
	 Amanda Weaver, Angelo State University, had her best game of the season against McMurry on Friday night.
The junior scored a season-high 16 points all in the first half. She was perfect in the first half going 5-for-5 from
the field and 4-for-4 from the 3-point line. She added three assists with her 16 points. The Center Point native
leads the LSC in 3-point percentage made at 48.8-percent.
	 Emily Spector, Texas Woman’s University, held the Pioneers to two win in Puerto Rico in an open-air gym
setting and the temperatures in the mid 80s. She led the Pioneers on offense with 15.0 points per game and
added 6.0 rebounds on defense while shooting 48 percent from the floor and 86 percent from the free-throw
line. Spector scored a team-high 18 points against Puerto Rico-Mayaguez on Saturday and then added 12
points against the host Puerto Rico-Bayamon on Sunday. On the season she leads the team in scoring (12.5
ppg) and rebounding (6.4 rpg).
	 Kathy Thomas, Tarleton State University, the TexAnn’s leading scorer averaging 13.3 points per game,
continued to be the go to shooter. Thomas poured in 10 points, swiped four steals and grabbed three rebounds
in 24 minutes for the TexAnns Monday against Indianapolis at the Rollins Tournament in Winter Park, Florida.
	 Tori Tucker, Eastern New Mexico University, grabbed eight rebounds to go along with a blocked shot and
a steal in Eastern New Mexico University’s upset of defending Heartland Conference champion, Texas A&M-
International. She hit her only free throws of the game with just 11 seconds left, to seal the contest. Tucker was
part of a strong defensive effort which limited the DustDevils to just .182 (2-11) from three-point range in the
second half and a .394 field goal percentage overall.
	 Karli Moore, Tarleton State University, was a defensive presence for the TexAnns Monday night against
Indianapolis in the Rollins College Invitational Tournament in Winter Park, Florida. Moore scored 10 points
to go along with a career-high nine defensive rebounds, three steals, one block and was perfect from the free
throw line (2-2).
	 Sasha Watson, West Texas A&M University, had another outstanding game for the Lady Buffs as the team
won its seventh-straight game with an 84-63 win over Texas A&M-International. Watson went 6 of 11 from the
field and 2 of 2 from the line, while recording four assists and three steals. Watson and the Lady Buffs stymied
the Dustdevils in the second half holding TAMIU to just 8 of 26 from the field (.308) in the second half. TAMIU
opened the game shooting 53.3 percent in the first half and was down 43-38 at intermission. Watson and the
Lady Buffs held TAMIU to just 25 points in the second half for the 21-point win.

Robinson had 12 points and 12 boards, with a steal
for the Aggies. Her one steal proved to be a game
changer for CU which led to a game winning three-
pointer by Jade Herl win 12 seconds to go. Robinson
has had double-figure points in her last five games
and has averaged 17.4 points and 9.1 rebounds in
eight games for Cameron, which are both inside the
top-two in the Lone Star Conference.

Angelo State	
The Rams continued to roll through their non-
conference schedule with a 101-48 win over McMurry
last Friday in Abilene to improve to 9-1 on the season
and up their scoring margin advantage to 28.2 points
per game. ASU scored in the 100s for the second time
this season and has scored 90 or more points in half of
its games. ASU returns to action this week with a pair
of home games against Arlington Baptist on Tuesday
and Arkansas-Monticello on Saturday before taking a
two-week break. The Rams are shooting 55.6 percent
as a team through 10 games and are averaging 20.3
assists per game.

Eastern New Mexico	
A big second half allowed the Eastern New Mexico
University men’s basketball team to avenge a loss
to Texas-Permian Basin from two weeks ago. Chris
Wyms and Michael Randle combined for 41 season-
half points as ENMU rallied from a 14-point deficit
to defeat the ninth-ranked team in the region. The
game marked the second time this season Eastern
has scored 100 points and the fifth time they have
scored at least 90 points. ENMU is 5-0 in those
games. The last time the Hounds reached the century
mark twice in the same season was in the 2011-12
season against Oklahoma Panhandle and University
of the Southwest. The Eastern New Mexico University
men’s basketball team will return to action on Friday
evening, when they visit South Dakota School of
Mines & Technology.
Midwestern State	
Midwestern State claimed its first two road
wins of the season taking a 75-55 win over Nova
Southeastern Saturday night in Fort Lauderdale,
Fla. then overcame an 11-point deficit with 7:10 to
play to hand Lynn its first loss of the season 90-83
Monday night in Boca Raton, Fla… The Mustangs
struck for a season-high 10 3-pointers Saturday night
against Nova Southeastern and have hit 18-of-41
from long distance (43.9 percent) over the past two
games… Midwestern has out rebounded its last four
by a combined margin of 77 (19.3 per game). The
Mustangs have controlled the advantage on the
boards in 10 of 11 games this season… Junior guard
Thad Rideau erupted to lead Midwestern State in
scoring with 15 points for the second straight game
Saturday against Nova Southeastern. The Port Arthur
native knocked down 8-of-12 shots from the 3-point
line over the last two games including a season-high
five Saturday night at Nova Southeastern. Rideau
scored a total of 21 points in MSU’s first eight games
of the season shooting 20.6 percent from the field (7-
of-34) and 15 percent from the arc (3-of-20)… Senior
guard Derrell Gibbs connected on three 3-pointers
scoring all of his season-high 13 points in the opening
half Saturday night against Nova Southeastern…
Junior guard Bretson McNeal returned from a three-
game absence to score 13 points hitting on 3-of-5
shots from the field including a pair 3s in 20 minutes
against Nova Southeastern. McNeal has netted 10-or-
more points in six of seven games this season with
the exception coming when he went down with an
injury in first possession against Missouri Southern…
Junior guard Hershell Grant enjoyed a solid all-around
performance with 10 points, five rebounds and two
steals Saturday night against Nova Southeastern…
Senior forward Abiodun Adegoke pulled down a
career-high 12 rebounds to go along with seven
points in Saturday’s win over Nova Southeastern…
Junior forward Khapri Alston is averaging nine points
and six rebounds over his last two outings after
scoring eight points and six rebounds in 16 minutes
Saturday against Nova Southeastern… Junior point
guard Danny Lawhorn dished out five assists in 12
minutes Saturday night against Nova Southeastern in
his MSU debut…
Tarleton State	
No. 6 Tarleton State returned to action Monday night
after a nine-day layoff for final exams and improved
to 8-0 for the second consecutive year with a 100-
65 thrashing of Paul Quinn. The Texans will leave
the friendly confines of Wisdom Gym for the first
time this season to take part in one of the nation’s
top tournaments beginning Thursday in Las Vegas.
Tarleton will play Western Washington and No. 13
Drury Thursday and Friday at the South Point Holiday
Hoops Classic.

Did not compete... the Javelinas begin a three-game
week in the Sunshine State, taking on Eckerd on
Monday and Tampa on Tuesday before returning to
the Lone Star State to battle Our Lady of the Lake on
Saturday, Dec. 20
West Texas A&M	
The West Texas A&M men’s basketball team defeated
St. Gregory’s 89-49 on Saturday afternoon, its lone
game of the week. The result would give the Buffs
their fifth victory in the previous six games, improving
their record to 5-4, pulling them above .500 for the
first time this season and in first-year head coach Tom
Brown’s career. They will return to action this week
with a trip to Ft. Lauderdale for contests against Nova
Southeastern and Missouri-St. Louis on Dec. 18 and
20, respectively.

Angelo State	
The Belles are 4-5 on the season after defeating
McMurry 60-44 on Friday night in Abilene for their
third-straight victory. ASU is 2-2 at the Junell Center
this year but have won the last two at home. The last
time ASU has won four-straight games was during
the 2012-13 season. In the last five games, ASU is
4-1 and scoring 66.8 points per game while limiting
teams to 56.0 points per game. Opponents are only
shooting 32.5-percent during the five-game stretch.
On the season, the Belles have made 40.7-percent
from the floor while scoring 63.4 points per game.
Angelo State leads the league in field goal percentage
defense at 36.0-percent and holds opponents to 62.1
points per game which is third in the conference.
Cameron	
Cameron led for only two minutes but it was the
final 12 seconds that mattered after a game winning
three pointer by Jade Herl took down Southeastern
Oklahoma, 82-81, on Monday night in Durant.
The win for Cameron moves them to 2-6, while
the Savage Storm goes to 9-2 in non-conference
play, and it is the first win for CU against a SE team
since 2010. Herl hit a season high five triples, with
19 points to pace the Ags in the victory. Cameron
was aided by 16 offensive rebounds and 18 second
chance points; Jazzmine Robinson helped out with a
double-double, by grabbing 12 boards and 12 points.
DJ Vallier matched her Aggie mark with 10 rebounds.
Southeastern Oklahoma broke a 14-14 tie with a
seven point run in the first half and maintained that
advantage into the intermission. Cameron trailed as
many as 11 points with 6:40 left in the first half but
a nine point run put the Aggies back a pair, 41-39,
with just under four minutes left half. However, CU
would be silenced from the field for the remainder of
the half and it would be a 44-41 Savage Storm lead.
Cameron continued to trail Southeastern Oklahoma
through the second half and led by nine, 79-70, with
4:08 left in the game. Herl gave Cameron a chance
with back-to-back three pointers in the next three
minutes to get CU behind by three. A pair of Savage
Storm free-throws pushed them ahead by five with
36 seconds remaining. Charron Montgomery hit a
free-throw and a jumper to CU a pair back with 17
seconds to go and in the next possession Robinson
had a game changing steal and dished the ball out to
Herl it what would be a game winning trey. Cameron
shot 41.5 percent as a team but their bench would
grab 26 points, eight more than the Savage Storm
who shot 51.7 percent from the field. Brandi Leal
knocked down 12 points, and Montgomery added 14
for CU. Cameron will be idle until Jan. 3 where they
will host Northwestern Oklahoma at 2 p.m.
Eastern New Mexico	
The Eastern New Mexico University women’s
basketball team controlled play against defending
Heartland Conference champion, Texas A&M-
International and led for 34:35 of play. Sarah Stinnet
poured in a career-best 19 points, while Brittany
Gutierrez registered the first double double of the
2014-15 season. The game marked fifth time in
seven games ENMU has led at halftime. Eastern has
outrebounded the opposition five times in seven
games. The Zias hit a season-best .466 from three-
point range. Over the final five minutes of play, ENMU
shot 8-10 from the free throw line and did not allow
a free throw over that period. ENMU allowed just
one offensive rebound to the DustDevils over the
final five minutes and two rebounds total over that
stretch. The Eastern New Mexico University women’s
basketball team will return to action on Tuesday,

Texas Woman’s	
The TWU basketball team traveled to the
northeastern part of Caribbean over the weekend
and picked up two wins in Puerto Rico. The Pioneers
are 6-4 on the season with wins against Puerto Rico-
Mayaguez, 80-55, and Puerto Rico-Bayamon, 69-66.
TWU played both game in an open-air gym setting
and the temperatures in the mid 80s. Four players
scored in double digits against UPRM and handed out
24 assists on 30 field goals. Sophomore Emily Spector
led the team on offense with 15.0 points per game
while sophomore Kenesha Saygo had a team-best
6.5 rebounds per game. Sophomore Taylor Nolan
came off the bench and added 13.0 ppg and 5.0 ppg.
Senior Ria Pateraki shot 75 percent from the floor and

The Angelo State men continue to roll through their non-conference schedule with just one loss at 9-1. On the women’s side, Midwestern State matched the best start in program history through nine games by improving to 8-1 for the third time (2003-04, 1989-90), while West Texas A&M has won seven straight to equal last year’s 7-1 start. Last week, the men’s teams won eight of nine non-conference contests, while the women were 7-3. This week’s action includes 15 non-conference games for the men and 12 for the women before the NCAA Division II Winter Break. The LSC men have a 52-23 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s teams are currently 13-6 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 8-6 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The LSC women are 38-34 overall. The women’s squads are currently 13-17 combined against the Heartland, and 6-3 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region. The LSC champion will be the regular season winner determined by league games, while the postseason tournament winner is designated as LSC Tournament Champion and earns the conference’s automatic qualification. The top eight teams in the final conference standings qualify for the postseason tournament set for March 4-7 in Allen, Texas. PLAYERS OF THE WEEK MEN’S OFFENSIVE Chris Wyms, Eastern New Mexico University, JR, Guard, Carson, Calif., King/Drew HS/Cerritos College Wyms led the Greyhounds rally from a 14-point deficit at University of Texas of the Permian Basin for a 102-99 win. He finished the contest with a career-high 29 points and was a perfect 5-5 outside the three-point line and a near perfect 12-13 at the free throw line. In the second half, Wyms accounted for 25 of Eastern’s 64 points and committed just a single turnover in 17 minutes. ENMU trailed 98-97, when the junior hit four straight free throws to give them the lead for good. The contest marked the second straight 20-point performance for Wyms. MEN’S DEFENSIVE Carl White, West Texas A&M University, FR, Guard, Chicago, Ill., Edwin G. The 26 points tied her season- high as she scored 13 points in each half. White moved into 11th all-time in school history in scoring with 1,289 career points and moved into third all-time in made free throws with 466. WOMEN’S DEFENSIVE Kenesha Saygo, Texas Woman’s University, SO, Guard, Keller, Texas, Killeen Ellison Saygo came off the bench and led the Pioneers on defense to two wins in Puerto Rico while holding opponents to .340 field goal percentage. Playing in an open-air gym setting with temperatures in the mid 80s, she averaged a team-best 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 8.0 points and 3.0 assists. Saygo recorded seven rebounds and three steals against Puerto Rico-Mayaguez and then added 12 points and 6 rebounds against the host Puerto Rico- Bayamon. MEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS Bretson McNeal, Midwestern State University, poured in a season-high 27 points to lead Midwestern State to a 90-83 win over previously unbeaten Lynn (Fla.) Monday night in Boca Raton. The junior guard from Minneapolis scored 24 of his 27 points after halftime including a consecutive 3-pointers to tie the game at 61- 61 with less than two minutes to play as MSU overcame an 11-point deficit with 7:10 to in regulation. McNeal scored 13 points in the second and totaled 11 in the two overtime periods against a Fighting Knight squad which came in ranked second in the D2SIDA South Region rankings with a 6-0 mark. McNeal need just five shots from the field to score 13 points including a pair of treys in a 75-55 win over Nova Southeastern Saturday night in Fort Lauderdale. For week, McNeal average 20 points on 10-of-20 shooting including six 3-pointers while connecting on 14 of 15 free throws. Davene Carter, Tarleton State University, didn’t miss a beat after a nine-day layoff for finals. The senior from Duncanville recorded his sixth career double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead Tarleton’s best offensive performance of the year in a 100-65 blowout of Paul Quinn. Jones, who is averaging 15.6 points per game this season, is leading the Rams and the conference with 53 assists and 27 steals and is also averaging 4.3 rebounds per game. Jones went 7 of 9 from the field against the War Hawks and is shooting a blistering 64.4 percent (67-104) from the field this season. Antjuan Ball, West Texas A&M University, led the Buffs to their fifth win in their last six games on Saturday as they defeated St. Gregory’s 89-49. Ball led WT with 18 points on the night as he went 9-for-12 from the field, including 7-for-7 in the first half. He added eight total rebounds, four assists, and a steal in the contest. Demario Mayfield, Angelo State University, recorded his fourth double-double of the season with a 14 rebound, 11 point performance for the Rams in their 101-48 win over McMurry last Friday in Abilene. Mayfield, who also had a steal, led the Rams with 11 defensive rebounds and also secured three on the offensive side of the court. He leads the Rams this season with 16.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per game and has also added 20 steals and 34 assists. Hershell Grant, Midwestern State University, played a key role in helping Midwestern State to a pair of wins over Nova Southeastern and Lynn over the weekend in Florida. The 6-3 guard from Washington, D.C. played a role in shutting down reigning Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week Chris Page, who came into the week averaging 24 points per game but managed just nine points on 4-of-8 shooting against the Mustangs. Grant, who finished with 10 points and five rebounds against Nova Southeastern, splashed in 12 points and pulled down eight rebounds to help MSU overcome an 11-point deficit with 7:10 to go in regulation to come away with a 90-83 win in double overtime Monday night against Lynn. Damion Clemons, Tarleton State University, grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds to help No. 6 Tarleton handle Paul Quinn 100-65 in the Texans’ return to action Monday night. Clemons, a senior from Dallas, led the team in defensive rebounds with eight and also added eight points, three assists and a blocked shot for the night. John GIlliam, Eastern New Mexico University, registered five rebounds and a pair of blocks as part of the Greyhounds’ defensive effort at Texas-Permian Basin. Jade Herl, Cameron University, made three triples in the final three minutes, including a game winner in a 82-81 victory on the road at Southeastern Oklahoma on Monday night. The Savage Strom entered their contest 9-1 against CU and it was the Aggies first win in four years against Southeastern Oklahoma. Herl had a team high 19 points with five three pointers and four free-throws, along with four rebounds, and a steal. In eight games this season, Herl has averaged 11.8 points per game and has hit 24 three pointers this season. Sarah Stinnett, Eastern New Mexico University, scored a career-best against defending Heartland Conference champion Texas A&M-International to go along with five rebounds and three assists. In the second half, her 11 points and four rebounds helped the Zias to seal the victory, with four points and two caroms in the final five minutes. Amanda Weaver, Angelo State University, had her best game of the season against McMurry on Friday night. The junior scored a season-high 16 points all in the first half. She was perfect in the first half going 5-for-5 from the field and 4-for-4 from the 3-point line. She added three assists with her 16 points. The Center Point native leads the LSC in 3-point percentage made at 48.8-percent. Emily Spector, Texas Woman’s University, held the Pioneers to two win in Puerto Rico in an open-air gym setting and the temperatures in the mid 80s. She led the Pioneers on offense with 15.0 points per game and added 6.0 rebounds on defense while shooting 48 percent from the floor and 86 percent from the free-throw line. Spector scored a team-high 18 points against Puerto Rico-Mayaguez on Saturday and then added 12 points against the host Puerto Rico-Bayamon on Sunday. On the season she leads the team in scoring (12.5 ppg) and rebounding (6.4 rpg). Kathy Thomas, Tarleton State University, the TexAnn’s leading scorer averaging 13.3 points per game, continued to be the go to shooter. Thomas poured in 10 points, swiped four steals and grabbed three rebounds in 24 minutes for the TexAnns Monday against Indianapolis at the Rollins Tournament in Winter Park, Florida. ASU returns to action this week with a pair of home games against Arlington Baptist on Tuesday and Arkansas-Monticello on Saturday before taking a two-week break. Eastern New Mexico A big second half allowed the Eastern New Mexico University men’s basketball team to avenge a loss to Texas-Permian Basin from two weeks ago. Chris Wyms and Michael Randle combined for 41 season- half points as ENMU rallied from a 14-point deficit to defeat the ninth-ranked team in the region. The game marked the second time this season Eastern has scored 100 points and the fifth time they have scored at least 90 points. ENMU is 5-0 in those games. The last time the Hounds reached the century mark twice in the same season was in the 2011-12 season against Oklahoma Panhandle and University of the Southwest. Texas A&M-Kingsville Did not compete... the Javelinas begin a three-game week in the Sunshine State, taking on Eckerd on Monday and Tampa on Tuesday before returning to the Lone Star State to battle Our Lady of the Lake on Saturday, Dec. 20 West Texas A&M The West Texas A&M men’s basketball team defeated St. Gregory’s 89-49 on Saturday afternoon, its lone game of the week. The result would give the Buffs their fifth victory in the previous six games, improving their record to 5-4, pulling them above .500 for the first time this season and in first-year head coach Tom Brown’s career. They will return to action this week with a trip to Ft. Lauderdale for contests against Nova Southeastern and Missouri-St. Louis on Dec. 18 and 20, respectively. WOMEN’S NOTES (Submitted by LSC SID’s) Angelo State The Belles are 4-5 on the season after defeating McMurry 60-44 on Friday night in Abilene for their third-straight victory. ASU is 2-2 at the Junell Center this year but have won the last two at home. The last time ASU has won four-straight games was during the 2012-13 season. In the last five games, ASU is 4-1 and scoring 66.8 points per game while limiting teams to 56.0 points per game. Opponents are only shooting 32.5-percent during the five-game stretch. On the season, the Belles have made 40.7-percent from the floor while scoring 63.4 points per game. Angelo State leads the league in field goal percentage defense at 36.0-percent and holds opponents to 62.1 points per game which is third in the conference. Cameron Cameron led for only two minutes but it was the final 12 seconds that mattered after a game winning three pointer by Jade Herl took down Southeastern Oklahoma, 82-81, on Monday night in Durant. The win for Cameron moves them to 2-6, while the Savage Storm goes to 9-2 in non-conference play, and it is the first win for CU against a SE team since 2010. Herl hit a season high five triples, with 19 points to pace the Ags in the victory. Cameron was aided by 16 offensive rebounds and 18 second chance points; Jazzmine Robinson helped out with a double-double, by grabbing 12 boards and 12 points. DJ Vallier matched her Aggie mark with 10 rebounds. Southeastern Oklahoma broke a 14-14 tie with a seven point run in the first half and maintained that advantage into the intermission. Cameron trailed as many as 11 points with 6:40 left in the first half but a nine point run put the Aggies back a pair, 41-39, with just under four minutes left half. However, CU would be silenced from the field for the remainder of the half and it would be a 44-41 Savage Storm lead. Cameron continued to trail Southeastern Oklahoma through the second half and led by nine, 79-70, with 4:08 left in the game. Herl gave Cameron a chance with back-to-back three pointers in the next three minutes to get CU behind by three. A pair of Savage Storm free-throws pushed them ahead by five with 36 seconds remaining. Charron Montgomery hit a free-throw and a jumper to CU a pair back with 17 seconds to go and in the next possession Robinson had a game changing steal and dished the ball out to Herl it what would be a game winning trey. Cameron shot 41.5 percent as a team but their bench would grab 26 points, eight more than the Savage Storm who shot 51.7 percent from the field. Brandi Leal knocked down 12 points, and Montgomery added 14 for CU. Cameron will be idle until Jan. 3 where they will host Northwestern Oklahoma at 2 p.m. Eastern New Mexico The Eastern New Mexico University women’s basketball team controlled play against defending Heartland Conference champion, Texas A&M- International and led for 34:35 of play. Sarah Stinnet poured in a career-best 19 points, while Brittany Gutierrez registered the first double double of the 2014-15 season. The game marked fifth time in seven games ENMU has led at halftime. Eastern has outrebounded the opposition five times in seven games. The Zias hit a season-best .466 from three- point range. Over the final five minutes of play, ENMU shot 8-10 from the free throw line and did not allow a free throw over that period. ENMU allowed just one offensive rebound to the DustDevils over the final five minutes and two rebounds total over that stretch. The Eastern New Mexico University women’s basketball team will return to action on Tuesday, when they host Northern New Mexico. Midwestern State Midwestern State matched the best start in program history through nine games by improving to 8-1 for the third time (2003-04, 1989-90) by claiming a 73- 70 win over Lubbock Christian Saturday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum… The Mustangs improved to 6-1 at Ligon Coliseum this season with the only loss coming to top-ranked Emporia State (Kan.)… The current group of seniors are 40-8 (.833) on Gerald Stockton Court… Midwestern snapped Lubbock Christian’s 17- game road winning streak Saturday at Ligon Coliseum. Texas Woman’s The TWU basketball team traveled to the northeastern part of Caribbean over the weekend and picked up two wins in Puerto Rico. The Pioneers are 6-4 on the season with wins against Puerto Rico- Mayaguez, 80-55, and Puerto Rico-Bayamon, 69-66. TWU played both game in an open-air gym setting and the temperatures in the mid 80s. Four players scored in double digits against UPRM and handed out 24 assists on 30 field goals. Sophomore Emily Spector led the team on offense with 15.0 points per game while sophomore Kenesha Saygo had a team-best 6.5 rebounds per game. Sophomore Taylor Nolan came off the bench and added 13.0 ppg and 5.0 ppg. Senior Ria Pateraki shot 75 percent from the floor and averaged 10.0 points. West Texas A&M The No. 3/4 West Texas A&M ran its winning streak to seven games with an 84-63 victory over visiting Texas A&M-International Sunday afternoon at the First United Bank Center...The Lady Buffs stand at 7-1 on the year which is exactly where they were a year ago at this point...In a game of runs, the Lady Buffs used a big run in the first half for a five point lead at half and a big run in the second, outscoring TAMIU 41-25 in the second half for the win...WT also held the Dustdevils to just 30 percent shooting in the second half after TAMIU opened shooting 53 percent in the first half...WT shot an even 50 percent for the game...
