TEODORA RADOVANOVIC
A2 MEDIA STUDIES
-
Knez Mihajlova
 Pros:
1. Monument demonstrates victims which have passed away
in the accident
2. Broad street makes the large crowd of people approaching
the main character more effective and poignant
3. Dark color of tiles, the metallic monument signifying
coldness and the tall surrounding buildings illustrate a
sense of isolation and aid to exemplify the bleak and
gloomy tone
Cons:
1. Location difficult to film in since due
to interferences from the public such
as loud sporadic chatter and curious
bystanders that disturb during
filming sessions
2. There is limited time for when the
pedestrian street would not be busy
and daylight would be
correspondingly present in order to
efficiently film.
-
Terazije (Fountain)
 Pros:
1. Fountain represents a monument like structure
but rather than representing the death of the
victims, represents the main character’s
isolation from his surroundings as it is placed
next to a very busy street.
2. Victims can approach from any direction and
thus trigger his fragile mental state as they
encircle him.
 Cons:
1. Location difficult to film in due to interferences
from the public such amplified chatter, curiosity
and near by traffic
2. There would be limited time to film as it is
positioned in a pedestrian zone and the daylight
span is shortened due to filming in winter months
-
Courtyard
 Pros:
1. Due to exterior being of a broad nature
the crowd (victims) approaching the main
character can be characterized as more
poignant visually
2. It can be filmed in an abandoned state
since little bystanders would interfere
making the overall atmosphere match the
tone of the script perfectly
3. Swings and monkey bars act as a symbol
of naivety and happiness as it depicts
childhood which contrasts and thus
emphasizes his depressed state
4. The surrounding buildings emphasize his
isolation from reality as they symbolically
represent his towering thoughts which are
tormenting him
Cons:
1. Due to the surrounding buildings the echoing sound can create low sound quality ruining the overall
quality of the film
2. Despite not having many walking bystanders disrupting a lack of privacy could result from curious
neighbors admiring
-
Passage
 Pros:
1. Represents a passage to a funeral metaphorically which insinuates death, one of the main
themes of the film
2.The main character develops a closer bond with the victims as they brush past him on their
way to the
graveyard, metaphorically depicting that the cause of their death was influenced by him
3. Furthermore the addition of stairs represents the concept of all the victims going on the
stairs towards heaven
 Cons:
1. Main road near by would disrupt the sound quality and overall quality of the film
2. Due to being a passage there is a high chance of constant disruptions from bystanders
making the
filming session inefficient and unnecessarily elongated.
-
Terrace
 Pros:
1. Concrete and metallic exterior relates to a rigid and
cold atmosphere, which emphasizes the bleak tone
of the script
2. ][The irregularly shaped figures on the terrace
helps to insinuate a more dystopian and deformed
approach, relating to the main character instable
mental state
3. Being located on an area elevated from the ground
it can be said that it symbolically represents 2
aspects: relating to the sky and airplanes and thus
connecting to the airplane crash and acting as a
semi-state of mind where the main character’s
mental state is presented in a limbo
4. Bystander noise would not be an issue to due
isolated nature of location making filming session
more efficient
5. Tile floors and concrete structure would accentuate
the aftermath of a rainy day due to changing its
appearance to be more gloomy emphasizes the
dismal and depressing after-math of a tragic
incident, in this case the plane crash
 Cons:
1. Might be challenging to film due to coordinating a
large amount of people
2. Coordinating limited space could also be perceived
as a challenge
