2. MY HOME
• For the dark room in which I planned the performance of the song to take place, I
have decided to use the living room in my home. In this room the lights can be
dimmed in order to create a much more atmospheric feel. As the video is about the
loss of as sibling, using a family home and its furnishings is of great benefit to the
video in terms of mise-en-scene. The darker colours of all the furnishings connote
the negative feel of the song and the ultimate themes of loss after death.
• The space is the room itself is quite limited. This again, can be used to connote
the idea of independence and isolation that the singer and the male character
feel. However, the room is only used a few hours a day. This gives my a
significant amount of time and freedom in which to shoot. In terms of
equipment set-up, the free space allows me to set up the camera and tripod in
more places inn the room that may otherwise be impeded by other people.
• Using the home of myself and the cast involved in the video also eliminates
potential issues with logistics such as getting the cast to a location on time.
The cast will instead be present most hours and increase the number of
filming opportunities from weekend to include weeknights.

3. KING’S COMMUNITY CHURCH
• The King’s Community Church ground in Norwich will be used for the
scenes in which the brother is visiting Lucy’s grave. Whilst the grave is not
physically seen, having shots of a church, old trees and benches will allow
the audience to successfully decode the connotations to understand the
narrative.
• The location, whilst in the city centre, is positioned in a discrete and
therefore quiet area, where there is unlikely to be any public disturbance
to interrupt the filming. This will reduce any continuity errors in the final
piece and minimize the number of takes required to get footage that can
be used appropriately in the editing process.
• The ground also has a long path and benches in the same place, meaning
I do not need to search for another location to complete certain small, yet
key shots that I have envisioned. These shots can all take place at the
same location and most likely on the same day. Once again, this will also
reduce continuity issues, that would be highly likely if I were to split the
shots into different locations

4. RIVERSIDE
• The riverside in Norwich is where I plan to shoot the scenes in which
the brother will be by the water mourning and imagining Lucy.
• As the shoot is taking place in the Autumn, the location offers aspects
of mise-en-scene that enhance the connotations of the scene. That that
the leaves falling of the trees could be a symbolic representation of life
coming to an end.
• The area itself is quiet with only a few passers by, making the location
ideal to film with very little interruption. This will allow me to be more
efficient in meeting the appropriate deadlines.
• The fence between the river and the path, keeps the shoot safe for the
cast and crew. This means that when throwing the rose-petals into the
river, the actor is able to get closer and be safer than if I was to film by
an unfenced lake or river.

5. CHAPELFIELD GARDENS
• Chapelfield Gardens is an ideal location within the city for the majority of
the scenes in the video. The gardens have a number of different grassed
areas, secluded by trees. This is perfect for the shots that I have suggested
will take place within a vast open space.
• The surrounding trees and grassed areas provide the natural feel that I aim
to capture within the scene and reflect within the natural relationship
between the two siblings being portrayed.
• The gardens also have a small park including swings that would allow be to
capture important interactions between the characters. Having these two
areas within the same location reduce the amount of time spent location
searching as well as filming overall.
