This document provides instructions for locating your h-index in the Scopus database. It outlines the steps to search for an author by entering your surname, initials and affiliation. This will display your citation overview page containing your h-index. From there, you can update the analytics to exclude self-citations and request merging author profiles if publications are separated. If additional help is needed, users can contact their subject librarian at UCT Libraries.

1. Locate your h-index

2. From UCT Libraries page: http://www.lib.uct.ac.za/
Mouse over ‘Search & Find’ & Choose ‘Databases (A-Z)’

3. From the Electronic Databases page choose “S” then scroll
down to choose “Scopus”

4. Select ‘Search’ menu then select ‘Authors’ tab

5. Fill your Sir name, initials and affiliation in the
appropriate space, then search

6. Tick relevant boxes then
Open ‘View citation overview’

7. View ‘Author h-index’
Tick boxes to Update analytics to exclude self citations etc.
and click “Update”

8. You can also “Request to merge authors” so that all
publications appear together instead of in more than one
separate sets.
