Sandbanks beach
I have chosen to film at Sandbanks
beach for a couple a scenes because
there is a lot of space to take an
establishing shot from far away for
the style I am going for, and I will be
filming in the winter so it won’t be
too busy to film at.
There are also sand dunes that I
thought would make the setting more
unique and different so it suits the
style I am going for better.
RECCE:
Golf field
I originally wanted to film the golfing
scene at a golfing range so that it
looks more realistic to the audience.
However, I was unable to get
permission to film at any places,
therefore I have decided to film at a
large field in the forest so that it still
looks a bit like a golfing field.
Forest
For a couple shots of the character
‘Mia’, I have chosen to film in the
forest and found an area that has lots
of space for establishing shots, but
they are still different so that I get
the style of shots I want.
RECCE:
Science room School gates
RECCE: SCIENCE ROOM/SCHOOL GATES
I have decided to use one of the
science rooms at school to use for the
scenes with ‘Charlie’ doing
experiments because I thought it was
a suitable location that fits in with
what is happening in the scene and
we would have staff nearby if
something went wrong with one of the
experiments.
I chose to film outside the school
gates for a short scene because it
links with what is happening in the
scene. There is also enough space to
do what I am planning to do and the
set up and layout of the entrance will
work well.
Street Dining room
RECCE:
I have chosen to film in this street
because it is close to where I live, so
would be quick and easy to get to,
and it would be safer to film because
there aren’t any car driving past so
there wouldn’t be so much as a risk
there.
This will be where I am filming the
poker scene. I have chosen this
because I can easily get around all of
the table to take a 360 degree
panorama for the film. I will also be
using this for other shots with ‘Luke’
in because this will be his house.
I decided to make a
floor plan, for the
scene where ‘Luke’
is playing poker
with his friends,
because it is quite
hard to describe the
camera movements.
The floor plan shows
how the camera will
be moving around
the table with all of
the actors sat at the
table. I will be
moving around the
table a couple of
times so that it
shows time passing.
To help show time
passing, I will also
have more alcohol
bottles on the table
and the game will
have moved slightly.

RISK ASSESSMENT
What Who owns it? Legal impact Any impact on use?
Your filmed
footage
I own the footage that
will be filmed by myself.
I will copyright my footage so
that no-one can use it, unless
they ask my permission first,
with regards to what they would
be using it for.
I have asked permission to all my actors and crew
members if they are happy to take part in the making of
my film, and I have made a permission slip to anyone
under the age of 18 so that I also have their
parent/guardians permission. I have also asked for their
point of contact if there are any issues whilst filming.
Studio title logo
sequence
I will design my own
studio title logo.
I will copyright this so that no-
one can use it without my
permission.
I will not need any permission for this as I am making it
from scratch, so it will not have any impact on use.
Sound
effects/musical
score
I will be using royalty free
music, therefore it is not
mine, but belongs to the
creator of the piece.
Because it is royalty free music, I
will not need permission to use
the music tracks.
Because I don’t need permission to use the tracks, there
will no be any impact on use.
LEGAL REPORT
What What is the impact on your film? Legal impact
What certificate would you rate
your short film?
The rating of my film will be a PG, therefore I cannot
include any gore, violence or swearing.
The BBFC (British Board of Film Certification)
are in charge of the age certificates in the
UK, therefore we must adhere to the
certificates so that younger children/viewers
that don’t like gory or scary films, are pre-
warned about the contents of the film, and
they can make the decision to watch the film
or not.
Content considerations My film won’t contain any content that will effect
anyone because it doesn’t involve any swearing, gore
or violence.
There will not be any legal impact because I
will be sticking to the restrictions of having
the age rating as PG.
Your film is going to be shown
online
‘Short of the week’ have guidelines for anyone that
wants to submit a film to them. The films need to be
less than 40 minutes (preferably 10), they also would
ideally like films that haven't been uploaded to any
other online websites. They would like films that are
free to the audiences and that have the rights and
releases for them to feature them.
My film will be within the ideal time limit and
I won’t have uploaded it to any other
websites. The audience will not have to pay
to watch because I won’t have any adverts,
and I all the footage and sounds I am using, I
have made or are royalty free so there won’t
be any copyright problems.
Slander/Lible I will not be including any false information about a
person because my film is based around characters,
not real people.
There will not be any legal impact because I
will not be including false information about
anyone.
