This month we celebrated
Banned Book Week with visual
displays throughout the library.
The library staff also engaged in
individual and group
conversations with students
about challenged and banned

                                 • Taught an introduction lesson on the program Pages to Mrs. Strasburg’s
                                   Creative Writing class for the creation of their newsletter.

                                 • Completed the MAP testing in the library. We had minimum library traffic
                                   during testing times; however, we did remain open for individual book
                                   checkout and renewal.

                                 • Began sorting and labeling fiction books into genre types. The following genre
                                   sections have been completed: Science Fiction/Fantasy, Mystery, Realistic
                                  Fiction, Historical Fiction, Sports, Horror/Ghosts and Graphic Novels. We
                                  hope to complete the remaining sections by the end of October.

                                 • Reviewed library skills that addressed State Library Standard 1--Benchmark 2,
                                   3, 4, 5 through a library scavenger hunt. Students worked in groups of 2 or 3
                                   to complete the scavenger hunt. As students completed the scavenger hunt,
                                  the library staff checked student work for accuracy.

                                 • Creation of book bundles were started with the assistance of a high school
                                   library TA. Book bundles are 3 books that are bundled together based on a
                                   common aspect, such as similarity in setting, cover images or character types.
