Running Siebel on AWS - Oracle Open World 13Milind Waikul
This document discusses deploying Siebel CRM on AWS to provide a highly available and scalable architecture with no hardware requirements. Key points include:
- Enterprise Beacon has expertise in both Siebel and AWS and launched the first Siebel test drive on AWS.
- Deploying Siebel on AWS provides benefits over traditional on-premise or SAAS models like lower costs, built-in high availability, disaster recovery, unlimited environments, and AWS service level agreements.
- The proposed Siebel on AWS architecture spreads application tiers across multiple availability zones for high availability and uses services like Elastic Load Balancing, Route 53, and database multi-AZ for automatic failover and disaster recovery across regions.
The document describes a proposed design for a spent nuclear fuel transport cask to transfer used fuel assemblies from the Sizewell B nuclear power plant in England to a reprocessing facility. The cask uses multiple layers of shielding materials like depleted uranium concrete and steel alloys to safely contain radiation and prevent leakage. It is designed to withstand drops from heights of up to 9 meters based on finite element analysis testing. The cask would allow for the safe transportation of 50 fuel assemblies per year via a 1.4 mile road journey followed by rail to meet regulatory weight and size limits for transport.

Littelfuse Solutions: Industrial Motor Drives and Soft StartersLittelfuse
This document discusses variable frequency drives (VFDs) and soft starters, which both control AC motor speed but have different architectures and applications. VFDs control speed and torque by varying motor voltage and frequency, while soft starters provide smooth starting and stopping for motors. The global VFD market is projected to grow 6% annually to $27.6 billion by 2023, while the soft starter market will grow 6% annually to $2 billion. Key components of VFDs and soft starters include fuses, metal oxide varistors, rectifier modules, transient voltage suppression diodes, and temperature sensors. Standards like IEC 61800-5-2 provide safety requirements for VFD functional safety. Littelfuse
Electrical Engineering Basics - What Design Engineers Need to Knowmilestoneseng

This document discusses selecting the proper cables for variable frequency drive (VFD) applications to maximize reliability. It outlines four key factors to consider: 1) using the right insulation and jacketing materials that can handle the electrical stresses of a VFD system, 2) optimizing the cable stranding design to reduce resistance and voltage drop, 3) providing proper shielding to prevent electrical noise interference, and 4) ensuring good mechanical performance to withstand installation and environmental conditions. Paying attention to these cable design factors can help avoid failures and downtime caused by VFD electrical stresses on cables.

Paying attention to these cable design factors can help avoid failures and downtime caused by VFD electrical stresses on cables.
Variable frequency drives (VFDs) are prone to failure of the power cable connecting the VFD to the motor. While the power electronics in VFDs are now very reliable, cables lack protections and can fail when subjected to electrical or mechanical stresses from VFD operation. Engineers can avoid costly downtime from cable failures by carefully selecting cable materials, ensuring proper shielding and stranding, and accounting for mechanical loads in industrial settings. Paying attention to cable construction details that match the electrical and environmental demands of the VFD application can maximize reliability and performance of the overall drive system.
Variable frequency drive (VFD) systems can cause costly downtime if they or their connecting cables fail. While VFD electronics have become reliable, cables are more vulnerable because they lack protections from voltage spikes and other power issues. Selecting cables designed for VFD applications, with materials like semiconductive insulation that reduce voltage stress, optimized stranding to lower resistance, and shielding against electrical noise, can help avoid cable failures and improve overall drive system performance and reliability.

Embedded machine learning-based road conditions and driving behavior monitoringIJECEIAES
Car accident rates have increased in recent years, resulting in losses in human lives, properties, and other financial costs. An embedded machine learning-based system is developed to address this critical issue. The system can monitor road conditions, detect driving patterns, and identify aggressive driving behaviors. The system is based on neural networks trained on a comprehensive dataset of driving events, driving styles, and road conditions. The system effectively detects potential risks and helps mitigate the frequency and impact of accidents. The primary goal is to ensure the safety of drivers and vehicles. Collecting data involved gathering information on three key road events: normal street and normal drive, speed bumps, circular yellow speed bumps, and three aggressive driving actions: sudden start, sudden stop, and sudden entry. The gathered data is processed and analyzed using a machine learning system designed for limited power and memory devices. The developed system resulted in 91.9% accuracy, 93.6% precision, and 92% recall. The achieved inference time on an Arduino Nano 33 BLE Sense with a 32-bit CPU running at 64 MHz is 34 ms and requires 2.6 kB peak RAM and 139.9 kB program flash memory, making it suitable for resource-constrained embedded systems.

Electric vehicle and photovoltaic advanced roles in enhancing the financial p...IJECEIAES
Climate change's impact on the planet forced the United Nations and governments to promote green energies and electric transportation. The deployments of photovoltaic (PV) and electric vehicle (EV) systems gained stronger momentum due to their numerous advantages over fossil fuel types. The advantages go beyond sustainability to reach financial support and stability. The work in this paper introduces the hybrid system between PV and EV to support industrial and commercial plants. This paper covers the theoretical framework of the proposed hybrid system including the required equation to complete the cost analysis when PV and EV are present. In addition, the proposed design diagram which sets the priorities and requirements of the system is presented. The proposed approach allows setup to advance their power stability, especially during power outages. The presented information supports researchers and plant owners to complete the necessary analysis while promoting the deployment of clean energy. The result of a case study that represents a dairy milk farmer supports the theoretical works and highlights its advanced benefits to existing plants. The short return on investment of the proposed approach supports the paper's novelty approach for the sustainable electrical system. In addition, the proposed system allows for an isolated power setup without the need for a transmission line which enhances the safety of the electrical network
