Oklahoma City Bombing Research Paper
In 1995, it all started as a peaceful Wednesday morning. People were starting work
or just waking up in Oklahoma City. While all these peoples days were starting, a
young male parked a yellow truck outside of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building.
That day, everyone s life in that building changed forever. The effects of the April
19,1995 bombing were more than just physical to the survivors of this horrific event.
The incident was planned a year before the bombing, in an old trailer in Kingman
Arizona between an ex military man named Timothy McVeigh, and some of his
military friends (Casey). McVeigh was just like any other boy growing up. He was
into toys and sports, but he was very into guns. When he was older, he joined the
army and was the top of his squadron. After given the opportunity to join the Green
Berets but not meeting up to their standards, he left the army and tried to become a
worker. During this time, he followed his hobby for guns and joined many militias.
After the incidents at Ruby Ridge, Idaho in 1992 and the Branch Davidian... Show

as well physically. Many people lost family members, friends, and neighbors. These

operating in them. These organisations have a large number of human resources
which are involved in the various business functions of the organisations. The
relationship between these human resources with each other and the management of
the organisations is very important for the success of the business. This requires the
establishment of a number of laws, legislations and regulations which manage the
industrial relations in the various organisations operating in Australia. These laws
and regulations are established in the country by the government and various other
regulatory bodies in both public and private sectors. This report is a comparative
analysis of such two legislations established in Australia which had a lot of impacts
on the industrial relations in the country. The Fair Work Act passed in the year of
2009 and the Workplace Relations Amendment (Work Choices) Act passed in the
year of 2005 are the legislations under consideration. The report compares a number
of elements of both the legislations and determines the comparative effect of both the
legislations on the
Golden House Of Nero Essay
After emperor Nero committed suicide in 68, the first Roman civil war happened
for eighteen. Rome experienced the up and down of three emperors until the last
agreement of first lord of Flavian Dynasty, Vespasian. To make his own identity and
also to erase the memory of emperor Nero, emperor Vespasian reconstructed the
Temple of Jupiter and built a huge Temple of Peace. Emperor Vespasian
and his two
sons built the Roman Colosseum(also known as amphiteatre by Roman) and it
became the showpiece of his dynasty. The notorious Golden House of Nero, located
in the very heart of the Rome, was chosen as the location for this building. The
construction was actually on the Nero s lake in the area. Nero s lake was chosen
since emperor Vespasian intended to the part of the city to return what Nero had
stolen from them. Nevertheless, the name of Colosseum is ironically taken from the
colossal statue of Nero (the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and gladiator. His brother, Domitian, made caverns and finished the decorative work
after Titus died. The Colosseum was still in service for 450 years. The
amphitheatre was once struck by lightning and burnt out that made it repaired
vastly after 217. During the repair, the gladiator games was moved to the circus yet
the repair did not finished until 240. Several earthquakes happening around 443 and
484 destroyed the building and it was repaired again. Because of the new religion of
Christianity that made economic pressure and opposition in Rome, Gladiator games
gradually vanished in the 3rd century. After the last mention of Gladiatior fights
around 435 and the animal hunt a century afterwards, Roman started stealing the
iron clamps and the stone of Colosseum, even it was leased by Pop Alexander VII as

Similarities Between Bully And Mean Girls
Bullying is an emerging issue that many teenagers and children experience, they
endure harassing behaviours from their peers, primarily at school. Mean Girls,
directed by Mark Waters and Bully, directed by Lee Hirsch are both effective in
their own ways, as they display the causes and effects of being taunted. Although
there are many similarities in the messages of the films, they differ in delivery. Mean
Girls shows a less conspicuous perspective of bullying, on the other hand, Bully
educates the more expected definition.
The story that Bully shares are about five youths who get heavily perpetrated by
cruel acts, that end them up in unhealthy situations. The characters possess different
qualities: racial backgrounds, sexual identities or medical challenges. Furthermore
discussing the problem of the ongoing need to belong somewhere, yet not being
truthful to oneself. This brings into consideration of the parents and school
administration. School is tough as it is, yet a handful of people make it worse by
unfairly treating someone based on superficial reasoning. Mean Girls tells a story of
Cady Heron, who moves to North Shore high school after a twelve year research trip
in Africa, she is forced to assimilate into the American culture, one she is unfamiliar
with. In the process of making friends, she gets involved with the problematic clique,
The Plastics.
The message of a film is what it revolves around, and what the filmmaker is trying
to portray; a strong message makes for a successful film. Mean Girls and Bully
have that in common. They correlate the message of not fitting in with a crowd,
therefore the characters modify themselves in an attempt to please others. The
Plastics initiate a conversation with Cady, where first they offer her an invite,
followed by listing all the rules she needs to follow to be allowed to join the group.
She goes along because it is for the purpose of the hoax that Janis plots (Waters
13:40). Cady is confined with how she dresses, who she is seen with and how she
interacts, otherwise she is seen less as. It is unlike her personality to act so feminine
and mean because she has a different taste. Even Gretchen is unhappy in the group,
She knew that it was better to be in The

Liberalization brought several changes to Indian service industry. Probably Indian
banking industry learnt a tremendous lesson. Pre liberalization, all we did at a bank
was deposit and withdraw money. Service standards were pathetic, but all we could
do was grin and bear it. Post liberalization, the tables have turned. It s a consumer
oriented market there.
Technology is revolutionizing every field of human endeavor and activity. One of
them is introduction of information technology into capital market. The internet

Taming Of The Shrew Setting Essay
Stories set in a different era use a setting to support a significant role in the
meaning of the play. Writers use setting as a way to establish values within a work
of literature. In The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare, the era of the
setting is in the 1500s. The setting played a major key in the play because it
connected with the current use of gender roles and courtship in that timeperiod. The
setting shapes the mood and the tone of a story or a play. There was the use of the
1500s renaissance era to symbolize the historical context that influenced the creation
of The Taming of the Shrew. The connection between the time period of the play and
its historical background in the Elizabethan era show the meaning behind the title
that is connected to that era. A Shrew was known for their direct aggressive attitude
towards others. An example of the shrew in the play is Katherine. She is seen as
rude, loud, besides herself and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the play, women are subject to a number of societal codes that make them
inferior to men. They are seen as the weaker sex, marry and bare children at a
young age, and can only participate in housework. They also were not allowed to
step outside of their gender roles while men were seen as the much stronger sex, can
get an education, own all land and property, and have the right to attempt to
subordinate women. Men also tend to have all of the power in relationships. An
example of the gender roles and power dynamic in The Taming of the Shrew is in
Act 5, Scene 2 when we see the use of diction in the way Lucentio, Hortensio, and
Petruchio summon their mistresses. During this interaction, the audience is exposed
to the sense of control Petruchio wants to have over Kate while Lucentio and
Hortensio use words that symbolize politeness and respect for the opposite
Why Is Pulp Fiction Popular
Since 1994, the year of its release, Quentin TarantinoВґs movie, Pulp Fiction has been
hailed as a game changing and cinema redefining movie. The film s release would
revive or kick start the careers of several actors, including John Travolta, Uma
Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson and Bruce Willis (Seal). The movie would spawn
dozens of knock offs and copycats all of them attempting to capture the films style of
storytelling, clever dialogue or more importantly its box office returns (Labrecque).
The filmhas also served as an inspiration for film buffs, students of film and other
indie film directors who may hope to make it big in the same way that Tarantino
did. But what is it about Pulp Fiction that makes it so popular? How does the films,
story, style genre and other key aspects make it so appealing to filmmakers and fans

The various elements of Pulp Fiction , its story, style of filming as well as other
factors combine to make the film a masterpiece of modern cinema and a breakout hit
in a world of corporate and focus group dominated Hollywood.
If one were to describe the very base plot of Pulp Fiction, to another person, the
film would perhaps seem somewhat unremarkable. The movie follows the exploits
of several characters around mid 1990s Los Angeles all of whom are in some way
related to criminal activities (Pulp Fiction). While this may seem like a fairly typical
though potentially promising story it is what Tarantino does with it that makes Pulp
Fiction unique. The plot of the film is told out of chronological order. Instead of the
traditional story structure used in films books and many other forms of storytelling

Historical Background Of Special Education Essay
In 2011 according to the National Center for Education Statistics 13 percent of the
total number of enrollment in the public school were receiving federally supported
special education programs . (National Center for Education Statistics) The goal of
special education is for all students with or without a disability to be educated in
the least restrictive environment. It is the common belief that special needs
students should be placed in the general education classroom with their non
disabled peers a term called inclusion. Inclusion hasn t come easy! There has been
several court cases fought that have provided special needs students access to a free
appropriate education in the least restrictive environment. Historical Background of
Inclusion There have been several court cases that have worked toward Inclusion.
District cases gained momentum getting the attention of the higher courts to
ultimately pave the way nationwide. The first right to education lawsuit was
Pennsylvania Association for Retarded Children versus the commonwealth of
Pennsylvania (1971). PARC was an organization composed of mother s advocating
for their children ages 6 21. In Pennsylvania children were not able to enroll into
school if they had not reached a mental age of 5 by their chronological age of 8.
The district court ordered that all mental retarded children were to be given a free
education. It was also ordered to begin to evaluate the most appropriate placement for
all children.
North Korean Human Rights Violations
North Korea has become infamous for its many atrocities to humanity. This country
is well known for its fear inducing communist political structure which has oppressed
the entirety of its people for many years and still today under the rule of the Kim
family. Food shortages, movement restrictions, and strict bans on media are some of
the major ongoing issues today. Those who are found to be in violation of these bans
and restrictions face unfair trial and sentencing, prison camps, and sometimes public
execution. North Korean dictators are responsible for these human rightsviolations
and have made little effort to cooperate with the United Nations and other non
government organizations to solve these issues. Why is all of this... Show more

Given this background information, one begins to understand further how the
violations occur and whom is responsible. The dictatorial leadership of North Korea
implement fear by using threats of forced labor and public executions to prevent
public dissent through use of media and technology. The nation uses severe
restrictions and strict governmental bans against freedom of information, association,
assembly, and travel, according Human Rights Watch. The government utilizes
informants, anyone caught participating in any subversive manner is reported to
security services and law enforcement. The state controls every aspect of the media.
Every news network, daytime television show, film, music production is made by the
government. If citizens are caught with any publication not produced by the State
they are severely punished. Also, if a person is caught with a cell phone or form of
entertainment produced outside of North Korea, they will be imprisoned (Human
Rights Watch). It is the dictatorships firm belief that if they maintain media isolation
they will prevent dissent, revolution, and the want of the people to travel outside of
the country. Another issue, accompanied by the most horrifying punishments, is the
limitations and restrictions of citizens to move freely around the country and to
Voting Essay
Voting allows the voices of the people to be heard. However, this has not always
been a privilege for everyone. Voting first happened around 1776. When the right to
vote was first given to the people, only white landowners were allowed to vote. By
1788 slaves were counted as в…— of a person. The Dred Scott v. Stanford court case
ruled that slaves are property and have no rights. A black man has no rights a white
man is bound to respect. This ruling increased tensions leading into the civil war.
This deprived African Americans even more to the right to citizenship. The 15th
amendment was ratified in 1870, which granted black males the right to vote. When
the 19th amendment was ratified in 1920, all citizens were allowed to vote regardless
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Votingis supposed to allow everyone the opportunity to voice their opinion, but
with these new laws, such as presenting a photo ID, everyone is not getting a say
so, so the votes aren t accurate. The new law of having a photo ID to vote also
affects transgenders. Many people who have transitioned themselves haven t updated
their ID and have a picture with their original sex. Those who transitioned have no
documents or records with their current gender listed. This new law makes it harder
for them because their information isn t updated, and because of this they aren t
allowed to vote. This also makes the votes inaccurate because there are about 25,000
transgenders who aren t getting their say so.
The government is trying to cut early voting, which plays a part in voter
suppression. Early voting allows those with disabilities and those who have jobs
get their votes in while they have time and before the lines get to crazy. Cutting
early voting leads to longer lines, which may cause fewer people to vote. Many
people leave in frustration due to how long the lines may be. Since 2011 various
states have cut back on voting due to politicians leading these attempts for
supportive gain. In 2012 Florida cut voting down from 14 days to eight. In 2013
North Carolina cut voting down from 17 days to 10. Based on statics between the
years of 2008 and 2012 around 70% of blacks took advantage of voting early. In

The Looming Of A Miracle Worker Essay
The Looming Shadow If life could be solved on good intentions alone then the
government would be revered as a miracle worker, unfortunately in reality good
intentions are often followed by those who would seek to profit from them Across
American history this trait is a pattern that has repeated itself numerous of times,
from the past century alone good intentions created the great depression and the
savings and Loans collapse. Most recently the new good intention became low
income families, and from it blossomed a thorny rose of a new standard of
business ethics. The intention of assisting low income families started becoming
more prevalent under Bill Clinton s administration, and can traced to 1992 with
the creation of the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO). In
time, from administration to administration while people either looked away or
got paid under the table the remaining ethics of every the American industry
vanished, leaving in its wake a crisis which even today remains as a shadow on the
minds of all Americans. A shadow greater than the one created by the explosion of
the USS Maine in the harbor of Havana, or even the darkness on the day of Pearl
Harbor. The reason the shadow remains is because of that very vanishing ethics,
which had created it under the guise of good intentions starting with OFHEO. In
1992 the Federal Housing Enterprises Financial Safety and Soundness Act was
passed, which was responsible for the creation of the OFHEO
How To Individualize Parameters
While further research is needed, we need to be focused on positive patient
outcomes. Nurses should set set realistic individualized parameters on monitors
when possible in an effort to reduce nonsense alarms. Parameters should be at a
reasonable level to grab their attention at appropriate times when an intervention may
be required. Translation to Practice This evidence can be translated into practice in
several ways. An astounding 80 99% of EKG monitor alarms are false or
insignificant (Sendelbach Funk, 2013.) First, continuous cardiac and oxygenation
alarms cannot be turned off, but alarm parameters may be changed on an
individualized basis depending on their baseline data. For example, the patient comes

Rugby Football Union Essay
Rugby What is it all About?
In 1823, William Webb Ellis first picked up the ball in his arms and ran with it. And
for the next 156 years forwards have been trying to work out why. Sir Tasker Watkins

The History of Rugby, many believe that Rugby was born in 1823 when William
Webb Ellis whilst spending his time at Rugby school, took the ball in his arms
during a game of football and ran with it. This then became the distinctive future of
the Rugby game. Although this is not fact as there is little in the way of evidence to
substantiate this view, it is more by popular belief. The true year Rugby Football
Union was founded was in the year 1871, in the month of December 1870 two men

with the wide variety of calibers and how to properly identify them. In the video it
centered the some of the focus on .22 caliber and the common confusion that comes
along with that caliber. At this point i m going to cover in my own words where the
most friction points come too. When you think .22 caliber some of us think of a
specific type (.22 short, .22 long, .22 long rifle, and so on) of that said caliber. The
biggest issue one can have is to purchase the wrong cartridge and attempt to feed the
rifle and it will not chamber, in the event it does, it could cause excessive wear and
tear due to the bore pressure and ultimately ruin the firearm. It is important to
understand the mechanics and principles of how each individual firearm works and
what specific type of ammunition it requires to shoot properly. From here, I will
cover the common misconceptions of cartridge identification.... Show more content

Perfect example would be the 7.62x51mm vs. .308, both cartridges use a .304 .307
projectile. The .308 however, has a moderate charge and has less bore pressure
associated with it. Unlike the 7.62x51mm which tend to run on the higher end of
the spectrum, in terms of bore pressure. It s important to identify whether your rifle
is designated to .308 vs. 7.62x51mm. It can directly affect the longevity of the
barrel, and if not checked it can be a detriment to the overall safety of the shooter.
Having the ability to identify specific cartridges is a skillset that is dire. I m going
to cover the importance of being able to identify
Themes Of Home Alone And Ransom Of Red Chief
The theme of a story is the moral message or lesson of a story. There are many
themes in Home Alone and Ransom of Red Chief but the one that stood out to me
the most was that the looks of people can be extremely different from their actions.
In the story Ransom of Red Chief the story states The kid was a freckle faced boy of
ten with freckles that stood out. His hair was the color of the cover of the
magazine you buy at the newsstand when you want to catch a train. Hey little boy!
Says Bill Would you like to have a bag of candy and a nice ride? The boy hits Bill
square in the eye with a piece of brick . This illustrates that most people who read this
story think he is a good kid by his looks until you read where he hits Bill in the head
with a brick. Bill thought he was a good kid but Bill learned the hard way. In a scene
from Home Alonethe bad guys are looking through the house window and think he
s a helpless little boy, but when they try to get into the house they see he s not at all
what he looks like. Kevin made the steps icey so they would slip, put a blow torch
above the door so it would burn their hair and made an iron fall on Marv s face.
This reveals that people first judge others based on their looks but they don t truly
know what they are like. Kevin and Johnny look like innocent people but they have
another side.
The characters in Ransom of Red Chief and Home Alone are very similar. Kevin
and Johnny are both very mischievous and very rowdy. In the story Ransom of Red
Chief it states He was throwing rocks at a kitten on a fence. This reveals the
actions Johnny does and how he can be mischievous. Johnny was throwing rocks
at a kitten for no reason. In one scene from the movie Kevin was using cardboard
people or dummy s and hooked them up with string so the fake people could move
when the bad guys drove past the house. This shows Kevin was thinking outside the
box but was also being mischievous at the Same time. Kevin hooked the strings onto
the dummy s so the bad guys would think someone was home when they drove by
because Kevin would be pulling the strings and they would be constantly moving.
Kevin was thinking outside the box when he used his brother s cardboard cutout of

History Of The Black People Of Canada
If you think that the Black Canadians were unified, well by the end of this I will
change your mind. This is one of the first reasons why, all of the Black Canadians
were promised to be given freedom if they would fight on the British side during
the war, but not all of them agreed to this order as nearly 3500 of them stayed to
fight war and the rest went to find a better path of escaping slavery, many of them
worked as labor workers, soldiers, pilots cooks etc. After the Canadian
Confederation took place, many of the Black Canadians were enticed by the
recruitment campaigns which led to Canada s prairie provinces. Because of all this,
the Black Canadians were divided into separate groups and sent off to different
prairie provinces, there were some of them in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba....

Reproductive Freedom And Its Impact On Women s Rights
Faye Wattleton, world renowned author of women s reproductive rights once said,
Reproductive freedom is critical to a whole range of issues. If we can t take charge
of this most personal aspect of our lives, we can t take care of anything. It should not
be seen as a privilege or as a benefit, but a fundamental human right. In many
traditional societies around the world, women s rights regarding their own
reproductive choices may seem as limited as their opportunities for them. Cultures in
which that deny women s rights and lessen the degree of equality of their gender
compared to men, often present reproductive options as a taboo to discuss. This can
lead to misperceptions and ignorance about healthy reproductive choices such as birth
control and prevention of disease which should be universally acknowledged by
women. As expressed by Perez (2015) class notes, every culture defines and
understands health differently...we tend to see the world through the prism of or
expectations. This is true in the sense that more conservative Middle Eastern cultures
may be taught to view health issues differently than most Americans would.
Healthcare between cultures is significant to understand; Irans healthcare market is
continuing to expand and assists in the awareness of women s health. This paper will
explore the comparisons and contrasts of the Iranian women s reproductive choices
and how different aspects of health in the general populationaffect health in Iran and

He painted and drew pictures of queens and kings, self portraits, family portraits, and

Styles Of Parenting
There are three different styles of parenting and the level of attachment in relation to
the parenting style. In the course book, it defines attachment as the establishment of
a close emotional relationship between parent and child (Zimbardo, Johnson, and
McCann, 2014, p.274). The parenting style my parents used was the authoritative
style. My parents were warm and sensitive to my needs and interests. Growing up
they made reasonable demands, explained the rules and when needed enforced those
rules. Yes, my parents have high expectations for me; however, it is because they
want the best for me. My parents and I have a close relationship and this is reflected
in their parentingstyle. In the course book, it mentions that researchers have found
All Weddings Have Memorable Moments
All weddings have memorable moments. Memorable moments serve as highlights,
or lowlights,to recall on subsequent anniversaries. Some, like ours, still cause my
heart to palpitate as I recall that ill conceived phone call. To understand its
significance you must understand that I began our courtship as a fourth stringer
behind Doug, Harry and John (Names are changed to protect the guilty). All had
had significant relationships with my June when I joined the taxi squad. None
were on waivers. All were still in contention for capturing the coveted starter
position as fiancГ©e. I was perhaps the weakest suitor in terms of wealth and
personality, but I had the strength of physical position since we both taught in the
same school system, in the same building, only two floors apart. The other
contenders lived miles away. My June always says that timing is everything which
was the case in our courtship. At that point in her life she was a willing receiver for
my passes and after a whirlwind courtship she succumbed to my naive charms and
agreed to be my bride. So it was that I made the jump from fourth to first string and
was the unchallenged game winner or so I thought. Certain things, like that
memorable phone call, are preceded by other plays that a more seasoned starter
would have foreseen as predictive. But I was new at the game. One such play came
when I took June to homecoming at the university from which we had both
graduated. We were walking out of a restaurant not
Cuban Music
Cuba is one of the largest Island in the Caribbean. It is located between North and
South America. Three things that make Cuba a beautiful place are its attractions,
music, and history.
All of Cuba s music ties to its history. A famous Cuban type of music is Son. Son is
a major genre of Cuban music, and has helped lay the foundation for most of what is
to come after. It arose in the eastern part of the island, among Spanish descended
farmers. Another type of music in Cuba is Rumba. It originated in the northern
regions of Cuba, mainly in urban Havana. Lastly, one Cuban genre of music is
Dazon. Dazon is the official genre of music in Cuba. Dazon is a slow partner dance
that requires intricate footwork.. This genre was assumed to be created during the
time British took over Cuba. Cuba s music is very unique and can be found in very

Southern Mississippi is my ideal location for the achievement of a doctoral degree. I
would like to demonstrate my knowledge, experience, and research ability in the field
of criminal justiceand correctional studies. Having majored in the discipline as a

perspective in criminal justice will help enrich the program, as well.
A wide range of diversity in the field of criminal justice studies is of great
importance. As a second year graduate student, I was given an opportunity to work
closely with U.S Probation and Pretrial Services as an intern. This internship
allowed me to further my knowledge in correctional studies and provided the
necessary resources to complete my master s thesis. I was also exposed to various
policies and procedures pertaining to probation practices while gaining a vast amount
of knowledge assisting with investigations, liaisons between state and local agencies,
and the intricacies of offender case management. Furthermore, I was able to form
close relationships with employees of the agency who have assisted in my current

Triton s Role In The Novel Reef By Romesh Gunesekera
Introduction
Romesh Gunesekera; the author of the novel Reef (1994), begins the story with a
young boy by the name of Triton, entering Mr Salgado s household as a Kolla ,
meaning boy, and starting to become weary of himself and his own capabilities.
Throughout the novel, Triton faces certain hardships, but quickly learns to overcome
them as he begins to develop a sense of responsibility and independence within the
household. Mr Salgado becomes the centre of Triton s world and he is someone that
Triton looks up to and wants to become. However, everything changes when Miss
Nili becomes the central aspect of Mr Salgado s life and changes the relationships
within the household, allowing Triton to see things from a new perspective.
Throughout the novel we see how Triton plays the role of an Outsider as well as
Insider within the home and how he starts becoming very observant with regards to
Miss Nili. In this essay I will discuss how Triton s role in Mister Salgado s household
alters and becomes a turning point in the novel.

Triton shows this by saying I read all Mister Salgado s books, one by one, over the
years. This quote suggests that Triton would always put Mr Salgado on a pedestal
and he is someone that he will always look up to because Mr Salgado played a big
part in shaping Triton s life and helping him to become the person that he is now. At
a later stage in the novel, Triton even suggests that they should open up a restaurant
in London. This indicates that he does not want to let go of the relationship he has
with Mr Salgado. Therefore he would rather be a servant in Mr Salgado s household
all over again than be an empowered restaurant owner without Mr Salgado in his
The Middle East
One of the most pressing issues in forming a global perspective is the idea of
security and threats on the global stage. The articles Unfinished Mideast Revolts,
Living with a Nuclear Iran, and War in the Fifth Domain, were written and read to
further shed light on these topics. These articles help to depict a better rounded view
of the threats in global studies.
The discussion began with the article Unfinished Mideast Revolts, written by
Jonathan Broader. This article discusses the evolution of the Middle East and how
much of the Middle East is currently coming out of, and in some cases still going
through difficult revolutions. The article points to three, possibly four, defining
stages in the Middle East. The first is the stage of the Cold War, the second is that of
the Old Order, the third is the end to the Old Order, and the fourth is the current stage
that they are in now. The point was made that much of the Middle East s resentment
to the West originated from the countries such as the United States intervening in
several conflicts during the collapse of the Old Regime.
Rewinding all the way to the end of the Cold War, one can see that as the rest of the
world advanced, the Middle East staggered behind. On top of their broken education
system, their lands didn t have much to offer besides oil. Therefore, some of the only
people to benefit from investments by foreign investors were corrupt officials and
their cronies. These same governmental leaders would show

Age discrimination laws are enforced by Civil Rights Center and the Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The Age Discrimination in
Employment Act of 1967 and The Age Discrimination Act of 1975 are laws that
govern age discrimination.
The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 Congress found that older
workers were finding themselves disadvantaged in retaining jobs; in many cases
companies were setting age limits regardless of the person s ability to work. Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) provides information concerning the
needs and abilities of older workers. These studies found that long term
unemployment in seniors often results in deterioration of morale and skill. The
EEOC sponsors and assist State and community informational and educational
programs. The ADEA prohibits arbitrary age discrimination by employers whom
work with businesses and workers alike to solve problems that arise (The Age
Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967).
There are strict prohibitions of age discrimination.
An employer cannot refuse to hire or discharge an employee due to age. Employers
cannot deprive any individual of employment because of their age. It is unlawful to
reduce the wage rate because of age. Employment agencies cannot withhold
How Does The Proton Determine The Number Of Protons
The atom is a unit of matter, the smallest unit of an element, consisting of a dense,
central, positively charged nucleus surrounded by a system of electrons, equal in
number to the number of nuclear protons. It consists of a core nucleus surrounded by
negatively charged electrons. Inside the atom nucleus contains a mixture of positively
charged protons, and electrically neutral neutrons. All electrons bind to the nucleus
through an electromagnetic force. A ground of electrons bound together form
individual molecules. An atomwith an equal number of protons and electrons will
hold a neutral charge. An ionhas either a positive or negative charge because of a lack
of electrons or an electronexcess. The number of protons determines the... Show more

Ions are atoms with either a positive or negative charge. When atoms are neutral,
the number of protons and electrons are equal. In an ion, the protons and electrons
are not equal. Protons have a positive charge and electrons have a negative charge.
So, if the protons and electrons in an atom are not equal, then the atom will have
either an overall positive or negative charge. An isotope is a form of a chemical
element where the atomic nucleus contains an exact number of neutrons. Also, the
number of protons define the element. The nuclei of most atoms contain neutrons
and protons. Each chemical element has more than one isotope. One of the
isotopes is abundantly in nature where as any of the others are not. The isotope of
an element is defined by the nucleon number. That number is the sum of the
number of protons and neutrons in the nucleus. The nucleon number is written as a
superscript preceding the chemical symbol for that element. So, an ion may
consist of a single atom and is called an atomic or monatomic ion. It can consist of
a lot of atoms that is molecular or polyatomic ion. Ions are normally found in
nature. Ions can be a solid, a liquid, or a gas. Lightening would be an example of
having ions in the gas
Essay about Graduation Speech
Ah, life eh? Hello Class of 2012.
There are so many things to say to you. I feel so privileged to get to speak to
everyone, and there is so much to say. We have come to this point in our lives that
many have come to before us. I almost feel like I have done it already, having

It seems like so long ago and it seems like just yesterday, those perils of

In other activities, we have all made names for ourselves. Athletically, many have
achieved incredible things. People have gone to state meets and tournaments,
lettered in varsity sports and maybe even have been named team captain for a
season or two. In our music and drama departments, students have excelled,
securing coveted spots in our school s top bands, orchestras and choirs. Some have
put their talents to work and gotten the lead in our school plays or been put in
charge backstage making entire musicals go smoothly. All of the clubs at school
have had students from our class named as presidents, editors or producers. Our
class every year has had its very own government, naming people as our president,
vice president and so on.
So much has happened in our lives because of Green Terrace High Schooland what it
has to offer. Individually, something there in that building formed who we are right

For everything we have accomplished and made of ourselves, there is so much to
say. Our parents, whole families and friends are so proud of us, and we could go
on and on about all that has been achieved by each one of us up to this point. If I
could, I would like to talk about something else.
In the world that we live, titles and achievements mean everything. We get so caught
up in proving ourselves worthy to be reckoned with and listened to that we go to
Italian Renaissance Unique Facts
The Renaissance in the 15th century brought forth new forms of knowledge, reform,
and enlightenment over Europe, particularly Florence, Italy. Despite its period of
turmoil in the 12th century, the city of Florence went into a period of artistic
creativity and dramatic cultural advancement. The 15th century excelled in the fields
of art, music, literature, poetry, philosophy, science and theology. The Italian
Renaissance is known to be an effective cultural development period which transpired
innovational thinking and creative enrichment ( Unique Facts About Europe: The

The House of Medici, also known as the Medici family, was a political dynasty who
obtained sovereignty in Florence, Italy around the 13th century through merchants
and banking. The Medici s reign as dukes of Tuscany played a substantial role in the
cultural development of Florence, especially in Florentine art. The Medici Family
took over the city s government, thus enabling them to bring the city of Florence
under their family s power. During their rule, they created an atmosphere where
artistry was able to prosper. Their revenue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Giovanni contributed to the Italian Renaissance through art and architecture with
his involvement in the creation of the Basilica di San Lorenzo, which is one of
many large temples of Florence, Italy, and is based at the focal point of the city s
main place of business. This place greatly holds significant value for it is the
entombment place of deceased members of the Medici family. In 1419, Giovanni di
Bicci de Medici recruited Filippo Brunelleschi to remodel the eleventh century
Romanesque building. For three hundred years it was the city s Church before the
official seat of the minister was exchanged to Santa
Polyperspectivity In William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying
4. William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying is brilliant in it s use of disrupted narrative,
but also in it s pioneering use of polyperspectivity. Indeed, the polyperspectivity
was the crux of the novella. First, it engendered the same confusion that the family
felt with the loss of Addie. For many readers, this would make the novella a
difficult read, as people tend to have problems with being taken up into a story, as
faulkner intended. Second, it allows one to experience the return to normalcy (or the
opposite, seen in the foil of Darl) that each character experiences, from their own
point of view. This gives us a much more in depth view of each character s particular
neurotic tendencies. Finally, the masterful use of polyperspectivity allows... Show

Flannery O Connor is one of America s best Catholic writers, by a wide margin. In,
The Life You Save May Be Your Own , she goes to great lengths to portray catholic
concepts, especially the fall of man to sin. At the beginning of the story, we can
see Tom Shiftlet as a man who is very concerned with his own moral intelligence ,
showing that he is open to the love of God. However, right away, hints har given to
show that he could also reject God. When he is first described, he wears black,
traditionally representing the christian adversary, as well as a disconnection from
God more generally. In addition to this, he forms his body into a cross in front of
the sun, however it is lopsided and incomplete due to his missing arm. Immediately
(though he seems to care little for money) it is obvious that he lusts after Lucynell
Crater s automobile. Mrs. Crater offers to give him a place to stay and feed him, in
exchange for work around the farm. However, lest one think that Mrs. Crater is
saintly, she is mostly of the hope that Shiftlet will marry her deaf daughter. This
forms one of the main interplays of the story, in that both characters have something
the other wants, and both know it. This produces quite witty and interesting
dialogue throughout. Lucynell the younger, it should be pointed out, is portrayed to
be the perfect woman for the man. Indeed, she seems to represent more than simple
innocence, but a gift from God. In the end, Mrs. Crater trades the truck for her
daughter s hand in marriage, in her mind, winning her salvation. Shiftlet takes the
car and Lucynell the younger for a honeymoon. They stop to get food, and Lucynell
manages to fall asleep on the table, after which Shiftlet leaves her. Thus he has
sealed his fate through rejecting the goodwill of God in the name of freedom in true
luciferian fashion. The car has previously been likened to a casket and a coffin,
through Mrs. Crater and Mr. Shiftlet conversations. It has now become his casket,
The Great Train Robbery And Edwin Porter
In this essay I will be discussing five key points throughout Post Production history
between the 1900s 1960s. Post Production is seen as a vital component in the
cinematic industry as it essentially finalises the final products. Techniques that have
been developed over the years are incredibly important, but they all have an origin.
Although these techniques started out without overwhelming effect, they are now
unbelievably crucial to how films are constructed. The five points I wish to discuss
go as follows: The Great Train Robbery and Edwin Porter himself, D.W. Griffith
and his overwhelming influence on editing, The Jazz Singer, the Kuleshov Effect
and finally, 2001: A Space Odyssey. As well as discussing these key factors, this
essay will take into consideration secondary material. In the early years of post
production, there was a distinct lack of editing within the film industry. Everything
filmed was for the most part one continuous shot and lacking too much creativity in
the post production region. Edwin Porter was one of the key founders that changed
the way post production was addressed. Although he originally filmed following what
is referred to as Aristotelian construction (Musser, 1991, p167) he began paying
closer attention to how a story could be told more effectively through visual
representation. Edwin began straying away from Aristotelian construction and instead
opted to use cutting to help him create the story he wished to create. Whilst this was

Descartes’ Arguments for the Real Distinction of Mind

Descartes Arguments for the Real Distinction of Mind and Body
Descartes argues has three main arguments for minds and bodies being two different
distinct types of substance. These are known as arguments for substance dualism and
are as follows.
* The Argument from doubt : Descartes argues that while he could pretend or think
that he had no body and therefore did not exist in any place, he could not think or
pretend he had no mind, as merely having a doubt that he had a mind proves that he
does.
* The Argument from Clear and distinct understanding: Descartes argues that if two
things can be separated even if only by god then they must be two different things.

Further more the mere doubt that you exist is proof that you in fact exist as how
can you doubt something unless you are existing. I assuredly existed, since I was
persuaded. But there is I know not what being, who is possessed at once of the
highest power and the deepest cunning, who is constantly employing all his
ingenuity in deceiving me. Doubtless, then, I exist, since I am deceived; and, let
him deceive me as he may, he can never bring it about that I am nothing, so long as
I shall be conscious that I am something. So that it must, in fine, be maintained, all
things being maturely and carefully considered, that this proposition
(pronunciatum ) I am, I exist, is necessarily true (Descartes Meditations, II,
p16,17). Descartes s also says that clear perception, clarity and distinctness are
present in the cogito, he says that these qualities are essential in being sure of
anything. Clearly perceiving something might mean that you think you are sure of
it but you could be wrong, Clarity and distinctness of perception means that you
recognise the reasons for the claim made by clear perception for what you believe
to be true being true, Descartes called this the mark of knowledge. Together the
cogito and the mark of knowledge set a firm foundation for all of Descartes s
conclusions by showing that he and all of us exist and that we can be certain about
things we

A Reliable Tool to Probe Human Nature
According to Walt Disney, Happiness is a state of mind. It is just according to the
way you look at things. Consider true happiness as a blessing from the windows of
heaven, which the Lord has promised through obedience to certain laws (D C 82:10).
In particular, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Job had great riches, but they were also
righteous and faithful. Yet, many have misconceptions that wealthis all source of
injustice, abomination, evil, in, and of itself, and the haves are undeserving and will
be deprived of an opportunity to dwell with God. Notwithstanding, affluence is not
the problem, but instead our intent toward it. The medium of exchange is money, but
reflects and define the character of the user. In like manner, spending it discreetly to
bless the needy is a sincere act. God will surely acknowledge and pour out a blessing
in return. In that, there is joy. Also, by having the means, they are able to provide

Let monetary abundance be the medium to fund personal goals because lack of
financial resources leads to unpleasant circumstances and crimes. To name a few:
prostitution, illiteracy, domestic violence, divorce, family conflicts, anger, stress,
stealing, debts etc. (University of Minnesota, Library). Through attaining adequate
financial funds, family will feel secure and enjoy greater peace knowing that they
have achieved financial reserve. This inevitability plays an important role, which
lessens the worry of everyday life and enables them to focus on other matters, whether
educational, emotional, physical, or spiritual goals (Focus on Family Finances,

Licensed Professional Counselor
Life can bring so many adversities that can results in battles with depression, low
self esteem, and anxiety over life s uncertainties. In a world where we retreat to
quick fixes, some may even try to soothe themselves with illegal substances, which
in turn, can prohibit even the smartest person from achieving their fullest potential.
I personally have faced adversities in my lifetime and have had the privilege to
have the guidance of counselors and professional therapists to give me the strength
that I needed to jump over the hurdles. Because of this seed that was planted during
the most unproductive times of my life, I want to give back and help others the way

You must be trustworthy in order to keep client information confidential, which
also requires restraint and discipline. Most importantly, a counselor must keep up
with their own mental health. Knowing how to cope, unwind, and relax after
serving others can sometimes become emotionally taxing. Taking care of oneself
in order to help others is paramount to success in their career. I believe that I posses
all of these qualities and can learn to strengthen and apply them through your
graduate program. In a world that is ever changing, diversity training and
sensitivity is also important. As a therapist, I will be placed in environments with
the opportunity to work with people from different backgrounds, cultures, beliefs,
traditions, and approaches than I. Building rapport through relationship and
empathy will be the key to giving my clients the assurance needed to make their
first step toward changing their lives and moving forward toward their desired
self. My job, as a counselor is to empower, not to tear down, which is why I will
seek to give back my services in low income areas, nonprofit organizations, as well
as on a volunteer basis to improve my very own community. I am familiar with
what it feels like to have reached a brick wall in my own life; feeling helpless and
wanting to surrender. Yet as the quote by Gandhi states, being able to stand even in
the face of adversity, is real strength. This is why I want to be a therapist. I want to
be the instrument of change for others and because of my own experiences, passion,
and academic discipline, I feel that I would be a great candidate for your graduate
Pencey Prep Research Paper
When I tell you about Pencey prep, the third boarding school I flunked out of,
everything is pretty much the damn same as all the other boarding schools I went
to. First off, it is all a bunch of phonies who go there that have a lot of dough and
their parents are all rich people who never see their kids. You would think that
Pencey prep would serve us good meals; seeing how it is a boarding school.
Everyone who goes here is rich and snobby and we get to eat shit half of the week
and on Sundays we get a dried up steak with lumpy potatoes to impress our parents
on visitors day. The food was not even the worst of the school it was the lying phony
kids who stole things and did not have the stones to admit they did it because they are
so phony.
Similarities Between Caesar And Livy
Origin stories are as important as recorded history when analyzing any culture. These
stories reveal the often idealized values which a people associate with themselves
and their state. Drawing comparisons between historical events and legends often
facilitates an understanding of a writer s present through the lens of an idealized past.
Livy s Historyof Rome and Lucan s Civil War compare the civil war between the
ancient Romans and the Sabines that almost came to fruition and the civil war
between Caesar and Pompey. Livy, who lived through the Augustan age, focuses on
the moral lessons that can be gleaned from the Sabine women s actions, while Lucan,
who lived under Nero, focuses on the failings of Caesar and Pompey. How these two

Livy employs a subtler criticism of Caesar and Pompey since he never mentions their
names. However, his language often hints at legend paralleling historical events, such
as when he mentions the resolution of the Sabines and Romans in which the two
kings exercised their joint sovereignty with perfect harmony (Livy, 1.13). The term
king was often used in literature of this period to describe the Caesars, such as how
Augustus is described in Vergil s Parade of Heroes. The image of Romulus and the
Sabine king ruling jointly lies in stark contrast to the tumultuous relationship
between Caesar and Pompey, arguably the two most powerful men of their day.
This phrase makes it apparent that Livy is trying to draw parallels between the
story of the Sabine women and Caesar and Pompey. Livy is careful in his criticism
because while the parallels are apparent, he never specifically mentions their
names. Lucan is outright in his criticism, as his whole work centers on Caesar and
Pompey. He even ventures so far as to call them frenzied and inserts humor into his
writing. For example, he humorously points out that holding land and sea, the entire
world, was not big enough for [Caesar and Pompey] , which colors their grab for
power as childish and motivated by greed
The American Paradox By Michael Pollan Analysis
Redundant Contradictions Everyone is distinct in his or her own way, therefore, each
individual has different types of habits. Michael Pollan, a professor from the
University of California, Berkeley, has written a book that includes a section on
something that he called the American Paradox. Emerging his ideas from the French
paradox, he has developed a concept in which he believed to be true of the Americans
diets. From his viewpoint, the relationships between the way Americans eat and
balance their nutritionand health is an inverse correlation. Pollan states that the
relationship between the nutrition of the Americans and their health and satisfaction
are contrary, in which that when one factor goes up, the other goes down. As
illustrated... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We ve been told in the earlier years by nutritionists that some food are more healthy
than others, but only to be overturned by later studies. Pollan feels that this
orthodoxy is very contradicting as Americans have been assured about how
having a low diet helps prevent health issues, but only to be revealed by even more
professionals that these foods actually have harmful effects on health, Sooner or
later, everything solid we ve been told about the links between our diet and our
health seems to get blown away in the gust of the most recent study (Pollan). They
have been told that these foods are of no harm, yet to only acquire health issues
such as obesity later in their lives. For instance, my friends tried to only eat foods
that affirm a low diet, however, it has barely done anything to their health and
weight. Surprisingly, these supposedly low diet foods doesn t provide the vitamins
enough for the body to function properly (Miller). It has been said that low diet
foods makes people want to eat more than usual because these foods are mostly
served in smaller portions that make people think that they are eating
Should A Simple Trip At The Grocery Store Require...
Should a simple trip to the grocery store require investigative journalism? Big soda
brands like Coca Cola, Pepsi, and Dr. Pepper seem to think so, as finding out what
goes on behind closed doors and inside sealed bottles takes research, not to mention
awareness of the fact that the soda industry is even doing anything wrong. The
companies behind these products are just that companies. Profits and income are of
the utmost importance to them. They will do anything to maintain their massive hold
on the consumers of America. Soft drinks are unhealthy products which lead to a
myriad of health problems, and the companies behind these sugary drinks often act in
unethical ways, solely to influence consumers and increase their profits.
Big name brands such as Coca Cola, Pepsi, and Dr. Pepper have both the means and
the motivation to skew evidence and conceal facts, all in the name of maintaining
their empires. When a threat to that empire emerged, for example, a recent proposed
tax on soft drink beverages, the industry rose up collectively in order to oppose the
tax.defeat it. This included sizable donations to key politicians, arguably a factor as
to why the tax was indeed denied (Sanger Katz, 1). This blatant usage of coercion
highlights the way in which the soda industry wields its power and money to
influence politics and get its way. Additionally, Coca Cola, one of the biggest soft
drink beverage brands in the world, paid dietitians and fitness experts to suggest
Smell Disorders
Trailer Stop and smell the roses is a famous idiomatic reference many make when
they want to convey the importance of appreciating the beauty of life. But have
any of us imagined what it may be like to NOT smell the roses or anything for that
matter? Humans often take their sense of smell for granted, as they rely more
heavily on sight and sound in day to day activities. Yet smell in my opinion can be
such an important aspect of life as the brain has the capability to associate smells
with danger and it can even elicit memories. For example, the odorof smoke notifies
us that something dangerous could be happening, or walking into a bakery with the
smell of fresh chocolate chip cookies can cause pleasure, bringing back childhood
memories... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most common causes include head injury (common in young adults) and viral
infections or Alzheimer disease in older adults ( Loss of Smell Ear,Nose, and
Throat Disorders ). Head injuries may result in anosmia due to damage or
destruction to the fibers of the olfactory nerves where they pass through the roof of
the nasal cavity. Sometimes injuries may also cause a fracture to the cribriform
plate ( Loss of Smell Ear,Nose, and Throat Disorders ). Infections and tumors near
the cribriform plate also can damage the olfactory nerve. Some less common causes
of anosmia include the overuse of antibiotics ,which may kill off all the olfactory
neurons at once. If the cause is due to sinus infections or irritation, doctors may
suggest a treatment of steam inhalation, nasal sprays, antibiotics, and occasionally
surgery. If a tumor near the cribriform is causing the individual to lack olfactory
abilities, then surgical removal and radiation is typically the course of treatment.
However, in causes where anosmia resulted from head trauma or undiagnosed causes
there are no current treatment options.

Typical Australian
The Australian Identity I am here today to discuss our Australian Identity. How do
you imagine a typical Australian? Maybe you see a blonde haired, blue eyed
surfing babe? Or a bushman who drinks Bushels tea and four X beers while
munching on some snags cooked on the BBQ? Or perhaps you see someone like
Steve Irwin, our iconic crocodile hunter. Or do you picture the movie Crocodile
Dundee? Australians are stereotyped and our typical Australian is usually imagined
to be male. (Click) Russell Ward, well known author, portrays his view of the
traditional Aussie as a practical man who is rough, tough bushman that holds true
friendship and loyal spirits. Today I will be analysing two poems and one play and

bushman riders are men and during those times the women and children stayed at
home while the men worked during the day. The Man from Snowy River is a
ballad which reinforces the typical Australian Identity, as the rough and tough man
who is willing to take risks and challenges. The hero in this poem is brave,
resourceful and thrill seeking, displaying the qualities that Russell Ward describes
as being part of the mythical Australian Identity. (Click) The One Day of the Year

Comparing Sinuhe And Odysseus And The Odyssey Essay
Sinuhe and Odysseus both experience different pathways to peace within
themselves while they share in knowledge of what it means to be away from their
familiar lands; these differences and similarities are seen in the Egypt told in the
Tale of Sinuhe and Greece in The Odyssey. Sinuhe tells of a royal courtier who was
travelling with Prince Senwosret on a campaign to Libya. While on the
expedition, news was spread that the dual king Sehotepibre had passed.
Unbeknownst to Senwosret, Sinuhe overheard and fled Egypt in a panic. He
travelled from land to land and finally stopped in Syria, where he lived, had a
family and become a hero to the tribe he stayed with. Later in his life he felt the
longing to return back home to be buried properly. After writing to the new king,
Senwosret, for his request, he accepts and sends for him. His life before fleeing
from Egypt was once again brought back to him until he died. For Odysseusin The
Odyssey, his exile and longing was not easily resolved like Sinuhe s story was.
Odysseus was the sole survivor of an expedition gone wrong. After living away from
home in exile after the doings of his naГЇve crew for several years, Athena, the Greek
goddess of wisdom and war, helped him in secret to return back to his homeland in
Ithaca. Odysseus, a man full of emotion, stress, and heart, made it back home after
many attempts and stops but not without sorrow and torment. In the end peace is
restored and Odysseus is known as a king . From the two

While all these peoples days were starting, a young male parked a yellow truck outside of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. That day, everyone s life in that building changed forever. The effects of the April 19,1995 bombing were more than just physical to the survivors of this horrific event. The incident was planned a year before the bombing, in an old trailer in Kingman Arizona between an ex military man named Timothy McVeigh, and some of his military friends (Casey). McVeigh was just like any other boy growing up. He was into toys and sports, but he was very into guns. When he was older, he joined the army and was the top of his squadron. After given the opportunity to join the Green Berets but not meeting up to their standards, he left the army and tried to become a worker. • 19. Descriptive Essay On An Island UNKNOWN BATTLEGROUNDS I wake up on an island with many others. I count up to 99 other than me. Above me there is a screen that is counting down from one minute, some of the others around me are screaming and going insane but at least half are calm waiting to see what happens when the timer runs out. I walk over to a man in a light blue tuxedo and ask him do you know where we are? the man answers An island in Russia I say thanks and walk back to the timer it reads 5 seconds I count down the time then my vision goes blank. When I open my eyes I m on a plane with the other players and a map of what I guess is the island the man in blue told me about. I have a parachute on my back I m guessing with black masks will force us off the plane we wait about 20 minutes and the women next to me asks do you want to team up I say what for, what is gonna happen? she responds with you don t know?, everyone on this plane will have to fight to the death to survive the last people standing whether it be one person or a team they get to survive and go to the next game. But I don t want to be in a team with someone who s a beginner and hasn t even play one game. The cargo planes haul started to open and the pressure filled the plane then men with black masks started to throw people off the plane they went from back to front through the rows so I ll be third to last to get thrown off I have about five minutes to get ready to get thrown off. • 20. Unit 22 Misconceptions This weeks segment of material covers the common misconceptions associated with the wide variety of calibers and how to properly identify them. In the video it centered the some of the focus on .22 caliber and the common confusion that comes along with that caliber. At this point i m going to cover in my own words where the most friction points come too. When you think .22 caliber some of us think of a specific type (.22 short, .22 long, .22 long rifle, and so on) of that said caliber. The biggest issue one can have is to purchase the wrong cartridge and attempt to feed the rifle and it will not chamber, in the event it does, it could cause excessive wear and tear due to the bore pressure and ultimately ruin the firearm. It is important to understand the mechanics and principles of how each individual firearm works and what specific type of ammunition it requires to shoot properly. From here, I will cover the common misconceptions of cartridge identification.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perfect example would be the 7.62x51mm vs. .308, both cartridges use a .304 .307 projectile. The .308 however, has a moderate charge and has less bore pressure associated with it. Unlike the 7.62x51mm which tend to run on the higher end of the spectrum, in terms of bore pressure. It s important to identify whether your rifle is designated to .308 vs. 7.62x51mm. It can directly affect the longevity of the barrel, and if not checked it can be a detriment to the overall safety of the shooter. Having the ability to identify specific cartridges is a skillset that is dire. I m going to cover the importance of being able to identify
  • 21. Themes Of Home Alone And Ransom Of Red Chief The theme of a story is the moral message or lesson of a story. There are many themes in Home Alone and Ransom of Red Chief but the one that stood out to me the most was that the looks of people can be extremely different from their actions. In the story Ransom of Red Chief the story states The kid was a freckle faced boy of ten with freckles that stood out. His hair was the color of the cover of the magazine you buy at the newsstand when you want to catch a train. Hey little boy! Says Bill Would you like to have a bag of candy and a nice ride? The boy hits Bill square in the eye with a piece of brick . This illustrates that most people who read this story think he is a good kid by his looks until you read where he hits Bill in the head with a brick. Bill thought he was a good kid but Bill learned the hard way. In a scene from Home Alonethe bad guys are looking through the house window and think he s a helpless little boy, but when they try to get into the house they see he s not at all what he looks like. Kevin made the steps icey so they would slip, put a blow torch above the door so it would burn their hair and made an iron fall on Marv s face. This reveals that people first judge others based on their looks but they don t truly know what they are like. Kevin and Johnny look like innocent people but they have another side. The characters in Ransom of Red Chief and Home Alone are very similar. Kevin and Johnny are both very mischievous and very rowdy. In the story Ransom of Red Chief it states He was throwing rocks at a kitten on a fence. This reveals the actions Johnny does and how he can be mischievous. Johnny was throwing rocks at a kitten for no reason. In one scene from the movie Kevin was using cardboard people or dummy s and hooked them up with string so the fake people could move when the bad guys drove past the house. This shows Kevin was thinking outside the box but was also being mischievous at the Same time. Kevin hooked the strings onto the dummy s so the bad guys would think someone was home when they drove by because Kevin would be pulling the strings and they would be constantly moving. Kevin was thinking outside the box when he used his brother s cardboard cutout of Michael

This is one of the first reasons why, all of the Black Canadians were promised to be given freedom if they would fight on the British side during the war, but not all of them agreed to this order as nearly 3500 of them stayed to fight war and the rest went to find a better path of escaping slavery, many of them worked as labor workers, soldiers, pilots cooks etc. After the Canadian Confederation took place, many of the Black Canadians were enticed by the recruitment campaigns which led to Canada s prairie provinces. Reproductive Freedom And Its Impact On Women s Rights Faye Wattleton, world renowned author of women s reproductive rights once said, Reproductive freedom is critical to a whole range of issues. If we can t take charge of this most personal aspect of our lives, we can t take care of anything. It should not be seen as a privilege or as a benefit, but a fundamental human right. In many traditional societies around the world, women s rights regarding their own reproductive choices may seem as limited as their opportunities for them. Cultures in which that deny women s rights and lessen the degree of equality of their gender compared to men, often present reproductive options as a taboo to discuss. This can lead to misperceptions and ignorance about healthy reproductive choices such as birth control and prevention of disease which should be universally acknowledged by women. As expressed by Perez (2015) class notes, every culture defines and understands health differently...we tend to see the world through the prism of or expectations. This is true in the sense that more conservative Middle Eastern cultures may be taught to view health issues differently than most Americans would. Healthcare between cultures is significant to understand; Irans healthcare market is continuing to expand and assists in the awareness of women s health. Some, like ours, still cause my heart to palpitate as I recall that ill conceived phone call. To understand its significance you must understand that I began our courtship as a fourth stringer behind Doug, Harry and John (Names are changed to protect the guilty). All had had significant relationships with my June when I joined the taxi squad. None were on waivers. All were still in contention for capturing the coveted starter position as fiancГ©e. I was perhaps the weakest suitor in terms of wealth and personality, but I had the strength of physical position since we both taught in the same school system, in the same building, only two floors apart. The other contenders lived miles away. My June always says that timing is everything which was the case in our courtship. At that point in her life she was a willing receiver for my passes and after a whirlwind courtship she succumbed to my naive charms and agreed to be my bride. So it was that I made the jump from fourth to first string and was the unchallenged game winner or so I thought. Certain things, like that memorable phone call, are preceded by other plays that a more seasoned starter would have foreseen as predictive. But I was new at the game. One such play came when I took June to homecoming at the university from which we had both graduated. We were walking out of a restaurant not

The articles Unfinished Mideast Revolts, Living with a Nuclear Iran, and War in the Fifth Domain, were written and read to further shed light on these topics. These articles help to depict a better rounded view of the threats in global studies. The discussion began with the article Unfinished Mideast Revolts, written by Jonathan Broader. This article discusses the evolution of the Middle East and how much of the Middle East is currently coming out of, and in some cases still going through difficult revolutions. The article points to three, possibly four, defining stages in the Middle East. The first is the stage of the Cold War, the second is that of the Old Order, the third is the end to the Old Order, and the fourth is the current stage that they are in now. The point was made that much of the Middle East s resentment to the West originated from the countries such as the United States intervening in several conflicts during the collapse of the Old Regime. Rewinding all the way to the end of the Cold War, one can see that as the rest of the world advanced, the Middle East staggered behind. All electrons bind to the nucleus through an electromagnetic force. A ground of electrons bound together form individual molecules. When atoms are neutral, the number of protons and electrons are equal. In an ion, the protons and electrons are not equal. Protons have a positive charge and electrons have a negative charge. So, if the protons and electrons in an atom are not equal, then the atom will have either an overall positive or negative charge. An isotope is a form of a chemical element where the atomic nucleus contains an exact number of neutrons. Also, the number of protons define the element. The nuclei of most atoms contain neutrons and protons. Each chemical element has more than one isotope. One of the isotopes is abundantly in nature where as any of the others are not. The isotope of an element is defined by the nucleon number. That number is the sum of the number of protons and neutrons in the nucleus. The nucleon number is written as a superscript preceding the chemical symbol for that element. So, an ion may consist of a single atom and is called an atomic or monatomic ion. It can consist of a lot of atoms that is molecular or polyatomic ion. Ions are normally found in nature. Ions can be a solid, a liquid, or a gas. Our class every year has had its very own government, naming people as our president, vice president and so on. So much has happened in our lives because of Green Terrace High Schooland what it has to offer. Individually, something there in that building formed who we are right now and what person we have become. For everything we have accomplished and made of ourselves, there is so much to say. Our parents, whole families and friends are so proud of us, and we could go on and on about all that has been achieved by each one of us up to this point. If I could, I would like to talk about something else. In the world that we live, titles and achievements mean everything. We get so caught up in proving ourselves worthy to be reckoned with and listened to that we go to

  • 44. Polyperspectivity In William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying 4. William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying is brilliant in it s use of disrupted narrative, but also in it s pioneering use of polyperspectivity. Indeed, the polyperspectivity was the crux of the novella. First, it engendered the same confusion that the family felt with the loss of Addie. For many readers, this would make the novella a difficult read, as people tend to have problems with being taken up into a story, as faulkner intended. Second, it allows one to experience the return to normalcy (or the opposite, seen in the foil of Darl) that each character experiences, from their own point of view. This gives us a much more in depth view of each character s particular neurotic tendencies. Finally, the masterful use of polyperspectivity allows... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Flannery O Connor is one of America s best Catholic writers, by a wide margin. In, The Life You Save May Be Your Own , she goes to great lengths to portray catholic concepts, especially the fall of man to sin. At the beginning of the story, we can see Tom Shiftlet as a man who is very concerned with his own moral intelligence , showing that he is open to the love of God. However, right away, hints har given to show that he could also reject God. When he is first described, he wears black, traditionally representing the christian adversary, as well as a disconnection from God more generally. In addition to this, he forms his body into a cross in front of the sun, however it is lopsided and incomplete due to his missing arm. Immediately (though he seems to care little for money) it is obvious that he lusts after Lucynell Crater s automobile. Mrs. Crater offers to give him a place to stay and feed him, in exchange for work around the farm. However, lest one think that Mrs. Crater is saintly, she is mostly of the hope that Shiftlet will marry her deaf daughter. This forms one of the main interplays of the story, in that both characters have something the other wants, and both know it. This produces quite witty and interesting dialogue throughout. Lucynell the younger, it should be pointed out, is portrayed to be the perfect woman for the man. Indeed, she seems to represent more than simple innocence, but a gift from God. In the end, Mrs. Crater trades the truck for her daughter s hand in marriage, in her mind, winning her salvation. Shiftlet takes the car and Lucynell the younger for a honeymoon. They stop to get food, and Lucynell manages to fall asleep on the table, after which Shiftlet leaves her. Thus he has sealed his fate through rejecting the goodwill of God in the name of freedom in true luciferian fashion. The car has previously been likened to a casket and a coffin, through Mrs. Crater and Mr. Shiftlet conversations. It has now become his casket,
  • 45. The Great Train Robbery And Edwin Porter In this essay I will be discussing five key points throughout Post Production history between the 1900s 1960s. Post Production is seen as a vital component in the cinematic industry as it essentially finalises the final products. Techniques that have been developed over the years are incredibly important, but they all have an origin. Although these techniques started out without overwhelming effect, they are now unbelievably crucial to how films are constructed. The five points I wish to discuss go as follows: The Great Train Robbery and Edwin Porter himself, D.W. Griffith and his overwhelming influence on editing, The Jazz Singer, the Kuleshov Effect and finally, 2001: A Space Odyssey. As well as discussing these key factors, this essay will take into consideration secondary material. In the early years of post production, there was a distinct lack of editing within the film industry. Everything filmed was for the most part one continuous shot and lacking too much creativity in the post production region. Edwin Porter was one of the key founders that changed the way post production was addressed. Although he originally filmed following what is referred to as Aristotelian construction (Musser, 1991, p167) he began paying closer attention to how a story could be told more effectively through visual representation. Edwin began straying away from Aristotelian construction and instead opted to use cutting to help him create the story he wished to create. Whilst this was not an

But there is I know not what being, who is possessed at once of the highest power and the deepest cunning, who is constantly employing all his ingenuity in deceiving me. Doubtless, then, I exist, since I am deceived; and, let him deceive me as he may, he can never bring it about that I am nothing, so long as I shall be conscious that I am something. So that it must, in fine, be maintained, all things being maturely and carefully considered, that this proposition (pronunciatum ) I am, I exist, is necessarily true (Descartes Meditations, II, p16,17). Descartes s also says that clear perception, clarity and distinctness are present in the cogito, he says that these qualities are essential in being sure of anything. Clearly perceiving something might mean that you think you are sure of it but you could be wrong, Clarity and distinctness of perception means that you recognise the reasons for the claim made by clear perception for what you believe to be true being true, Descartes called this the mark of knowledge. • 50. Similarities Between Caesar And Livy Origin stories are as important as recorded history when analyzing any culture. These stories reveal the often idealized values which a people associate with themselves and their state. Drawing comparisons between historical events and legends often facilitates an understanding of a writer s present through the lens of an idealized past. Livy s Historyof Rome and Lucan s Civil War compare the civil war between the ancient Romans and the Sabines that almost came to fruition and the civil war between Caesar and Pompey. Livy, who lived through the Augustan age, focuses on the moral lessons that can be gleaned from the Sabine women s actions, while Lucan, who lived under Nero, focuses on the failings of Caesar and Pompey. How these two authors... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Livy employs a subtler criticism of Caesar and Pompey since he never mentions their names. However, his language often hints at legend paralleling historical events, such as when he mentions the resolution of the Sabines and Romans in which the two kings exercised their joint sovereignty with perfect harmony (Livy, 1.13). The term king was often used in literature of this period to describe the Caesars, such as how Augustus is described in Vergil s Parade of Heroes. The image of Romulus and the Sabine king ruling jointly lies in stark contrast to the tumultuous relationship between Caesar and Pompey, arguably the two most powerful men of their day. This phrase makes it apparent that Livy is trying to draw parallels between the story of the Sabine women and Caesar and Pompey. Livy is careful in his criticism because while the parallels are apparent, he never specifically mentions their names. Lucan is outright in his criticism, as his whole work centers on Caesar and Pompey. He even ventures so far as to call them frenzied and inserts humor into his writing. For example, he humorously points out that holding land and sea, the entire world, was not big enough for [Caesar and Pompey] , which colors their grab for power as childish and motivated by greed

Michael Pollan, a professor from the University of California, Berkeley, has written a book that includes a section on something that he called the American Paradox. Emerging his ideas from the French paradox, he has developed a concept in which he believed to be true of the Americans diets. From his viewpoint, the relationships between the way Americans eat and balance their nutritionand health is an inverse correlation. As illustrated... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They have been told that these foods are of no harm, yet to only acquire health issues such as obesity later in their lives. For instance, my friends tried to only eat foods that affirm a low diet, however, it has barely done anything to their health and weight. Surprisingly, these supposedly low diet foods doesn t provide the vitamins enough for the body to function properly (Miller). Big soda brands like Coca Cola, Pepsi, and Dr. Pepper seem to think so, as finding out what goes on behind closed doors and inside sealed bottles takes research, not to mention awareness of the fact that the soda industry is even doing anything wrong. The companies behind these products are just that companies. Profits and income are of the utmost importance to them. They will do anything to maintain their massive hold on the consumers of America. Soft drinks are unhealthy products which lead to a myriad of health problems, and the companies behind these sugary drinks often act in unethical ways, solely to influence consumers and increase their profits. Big name brands such as Coca Cola, Pepsi, and Dr. Pepper have both the means and the motivation to skew evidence and conceal facts, all in the name of maintaining their empires. When a threat to that empire emerged, for example, a recent proposed tax on soft drink beverages, the industry rose up collectively in order to oppose the tax.defeat it. This included sizable donations to key politicians, arguably a factor as to why the tax was indeed denied (Sanger Katz, 1). Comparing Sinuhe And Odysseus And The Odyssey Essay Sinuhe and Odysseus both experience different pathways to peace within themselves while they share in knowledge of what it means to be away from their familiar lands; these differences and similarities are seen in the Egypt told in the Tale of Sinuhe and Greece in The Odyssey. Sinuhe tells of a royal courtier who was travelling with Prince Senwosret on a campaign to Libya. While on the expedition, news was spread that the dual king Sehotepibre had passed. Unbeknownst to Senwosret, Sinuhe overheard and fled Egypt in a panic. He travelled from land to land and finally stopped in Syria, where he lived, had a family and become a hero to the tribe he stayed with. Later in his life he felt the longing to return back home to be buried properly. After writing to the new king, Senwosret, for his request, he accepts and sends for him. His life before fleeing from Egypt was once again brought back to him until he died. For Odysseusin The Odyssey, his exile and longing was not easily resolved like Sinuhe s story was.
