Oral
This is medication that is taken via the mouth. This can be in the form of tablets and
capsules. If an individual finds it difficult to swallow tablets oral medication is also
available in liquids, suspensions and syrups. Sublingual medications are for example
when tablets are placed under the tongue to dissolve quickly.
Transdermal
Transdermal medications come in the form of patches that are applied to the skin
normally to the chest or upper arm. They work by allowing the medication to be
released slowly and then absorbed. For example, Hormone Replacement Therapy
(HRT) patches and nicotine patches.
Topical
Topical medications come in the form of creams and gels and are applied directly to
the skin surface usually to treat skin conditions.
Instillation
Instillation medications come in the form of drops or ointments and can be instilled
via the eyes, nose or ears. Drops can be used for ear or eye infections. Nose sprays
are used for treating for example hay fever.
Intravenous
Intravenous medication enters directly into the veins and absorbed quickly.
Rectal/Vaginal
Rectal medications are absorbed very quickly. Suppositories are available and are
given into the rectum. Pessaries are given into the vagina.

Until its abolition , slavery made it legal to own another human being. Families were
torn apart, millions had their unalienable rights stripped down to nothing, and black
children were sold almost at birth. Beloved, by Toni Morrison, delves deep into the
many dark facets of slavery. Through the main character (Sethe s) experiences both in
slavery, and in freedom, the reader learns firsthand what it was like for the slaves at
Sweethome, and the lengths Sethe would go through to insure her family s
departure from slavery altogether. Most of all, Morrison demonstrates how through
dehumanization of Sethe, Paul D, and Halle, slavery caused the main characters to
lose the connection with who they truly were before experiencing slavery. Whether
evaluating Paul D s tin can heart, the way Sethe closed herself off from other
people, or the events that caused Halle to smear butter on his face, it is clear that
slavery induced major psychological changes in the main characters of Morrison s
shady tale.
What caused Paul D to lose connection with himself began when his slave owner,
schoolteacher, stripped him of all sense of ego, in other words he took away any
sense of self importance, confidence, and self esteem that Paul D possessed. This
concept can be seen on page 86 when he discusses the old rooster at Sweet Home,

industry has affected agriculture in various ways. While some may think that drug
industry has done good for the agriculture industry. It has also had repercussions.
Drugs not only affect our ecosystem, it also affects us human beings, animals, and
plants. It s similar to a cycle, we start off with the ecosystem, which then leads to
plants, then the animals, to human beings. If the drugindustry is affecting the whole
