Battle Of Gettysburg Essay
Writing an essay on the topic "Battle of Gettysburg" can be quite challenging due to several
factors. Firstly, it requires in-depth research to gather accurate historical information about the
battle, including its causes, key events, strategies employed by both sides, and its significance in
the context of the American Civil War. This research process can be time-consuming and may
involve sifting through various primary and secondary sources to ensure the accuracy and
reliability of the information presented in the essay.
Secondly, analyzing the Battle of Gettysburg from multiple perspectives, such as military
strategy, political implications, and social impact, adds another layer of complexity to the essay.
It requires critical thinking skills to evaluate different interpretations and viewpoints presented by
historians and scholars over the years.
Furthermore, effectively organizing and structuring the essay to present a coherent argument or
thesis statement can be challenging. Balancing the narrative of the battle with analysis and
interpretation while maintaining clarity and coherence is crucial for engaging the reader and
conveying the significance of the Battle of Gettysburg.
Additionally, crafting a compelling introduction to hook the reader's attention and a strong
conclusion that summarizes the key points and reinforces the thesis statement requires careful
consideration and writing skills.
In summary, writing an essay on the topic "Battle of Gettysburg" demands thorough research,
critical thinking, analytical skills, and effective writing abilities to present a comprehensive and
coherent analysis of this pivotal event in American history.

The Effectiveness of the Criminal Justice System in...
The reservation of the Convention on the Rights of a Child (CROC) had played
invaluable role in charging the way in which young offenders are dealt with within
the Australia Criminal Process. Including the introduction of the theory known as
Doli Incapax meaning the age of criminal reasonability, the Young Offender Act
1997 NSW as well new law regarding the rights of a child once they have been
arrested. It is evident that these while some of charges are still ineffective in dealing
with Young Offenders within the Criminal JusticeSystem the majority of them are in
place for the greater good and are assisting young offenders when it relates to the
Criminal Justice System.
Doli Incapax is just one of the ways in which children are now treated more equally
under the law. According to the theory it is presumption that children are incapable
of having criminal intent which in terms means that children under the age of 10
are unable to be charge with any criminal offence and when relating to children 10
to 13 the prosecution make be able to show that the child at the time of the alleged
offence actually know what they were doing was seriously wrong. According to
Section 6 of the Children (Criminal Proceedings) Act 1987 children have rights
equal to adult offender and have a right to be heard and participate in criminal
proceedings that affect them, children are responsible for their actions however

How could, both the narrator in Sandpiper and Sophy in The Son s Veto , evoke

The chaired lady ...
This is one of the first impressions of Sophy that Hardy presents to readers. The
word chaired suggests a sense of weakness, inability and insignificance. These ideas
are crucially embedded through Sophy in The son s veto and the narrator in Sandpiper
. The authors do this to emphasise the tragic lives of the characters and how they are
victims of the societies that mould their perception.
To begin with, readers feel sympathy towards Sophy in The Son s Veto as she is
constantly mocked by Randolph, who views her with great contempt, I am ashamed
of you! It will ruin me! A miserable boor! A churl! A clown! Randolf hasn t even
met Sam yet and already becomes judgmental and compares him to a boor and a
churl simply because of his lower social status. This authenticates that Randolph has
no concerns for his mother s feelings and is just being exceedingly egoistic and all
he cares about is his status. Hardy might be trying to depict that narcissism is a trait
that comes along with high status. This is quite ironic because his father had no
problem with marrying a woman with lower status. However, the frustration kicks in
when Sophy says, Say no more perhaps I am wrong! I will struggle against it , as she
denies the one thing she loves the most, just for her son who almost resents her. This
frustrates the
Gas Utilization Of Oil And Gas Technologies
Although the difficulty in storing processing, transporting and distributing gas makes
it difficult to utilise (Cost of transporting per unit energy is about 10 times higher
than that of oil) (Thomas et al, 2000), the evolution in oil and gas technologies has
presented many new ways for the commercialisation of APG, Technological options
for the monetisation of APG categorised into the methods available for getting gas
from production sites to consumers where it can consumed. In this chapter the
various methods would be briefly described, highlighting obtainable products and
benefits, challenges and limitations and viability conditions. These methods are
summarised as shown in figure 10. Figure 10: Paths to gas monetisation 4.1.1
Pipelines This is the oldest and simplest form of gas utilization. It involves
transporting treated gas from producers directly to its consumers (Speight, 2007;

for domestic, commercial and industrial use or for further processing. Utilized mainly
for power and heat generation. Once in place, this system aids the utilization of
massive amounts of APG a well planned out pipeline network could supply numerous
consumers from numerous producers 4.1.1.2 Challenges and Limitations The
Pipeline system is inflexible. Once built, routes cannot be changed and additional

Efficacy of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy on Depression Level among Patients with
Major Depressive Disorder in Mental Health Settings: A Research Proposal
Introduction
Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) has a high prevalence rate; it affects more than
16.1 million American adults of the US population aged 18 years or older (Anxiety
and Depression Association of America [ADAA], 2017). MDD is more common in
women than in men and can develop at any age (Kessler, Berglund, Demler, 2003).
Major depressive disorder is defined as a mental disorder that is characterized by a
general low mood accompanied by low self esteem and loss of pleasure in normal
daily activities (World Health Organization [WHO], 2010). The diagnosis of MDD

Given the strength of evidence that supports cognitive behavioral therapy as an
effective treatment for depression; many clinical practice guidelines strongly
recommend CBT as the first line treatment along with antidepressant medication for
MDD (Driessen Hollon, 2010; Tucker Oei, 2007).
Treating or at least reducing depression levels among patients with MDD is
considered an important issue in mental health because of the high risks of its
consequences as the suicide attempts, disabilities, and high financial spent on MDD
treatment and prevention. However, there is a gap in the literature that discuss the
effect of CBT for depression among patients with MDD and little is known about the
effectiveness of CBT on MDD in mental health settings yet. This study will have
wide application in nursing practice, education, and research. The anticipated
outcomes of this study will be used to recommend the importance of cognitive
behavioral therapy in treating MDD to be used by healthcare providers as a usual
care for MDD. Furthermore, this study will offer a baseline data about for knowledge
and research about the effectiveness of depression treatment in routine clinical
practice in mental health settings.
Research purpose
The main purpose of this study is to examine the effect of CBT in reducing
depression level among patients with major depressive disorder as well as to
Life Span Perspective Analysis
The number of different theories used practiced in social work can be
overwhelming. At first glance, the various approaches bleed together and seem too
similar to decipher one from the next. But, after an in depth study of each model, the
differences become evident. Two of the approaches that especially stand out are the
Life Span Perspective and the Strengths Perspective. The Life Span Perspective
draws from multiple theories to emphasize growth and change over a lifetime. The
Strengths Perspective differs from other social worktheories by focusing on the
positive characteristics of a client and their environment. The Life Span
Perspective evaluates a person over their entire lifecycle by evaluating their social,
psychodynamic, cognitive, moral, spiritual and biological change and growth.
Every different experience from a younger stage affects that person through the rest
of her lifespan. While each person is unique, this perspective gives us a framework
of the life course and gives us ideas of what to expect from one stage to the next.
Because this viewpoint draws from Positivist and Developmental theories, it looks
for patterns and similarities. While this can be helpful, it fails to acknowledge
individual resilience and the power... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This perspective spotlights the effect that early childhood trauma can have on a
person and explains why therapists spend so much time inquiring after painful
experiences of the past. Having a deeper understanding of child development can
help a social worker assist an adult client who deal with a problem stemming from
an earlier stage of life. This perspective would be especially useful in a mezzo or
macro environment, where trends and predictions can help shape
Masculinity And Its Perception By Male Characters Essay
James Baldwin is a wonderful author in regards to weaving certain topics, both
controversial and non controversial, into his texts. The struggle with masculinity is
one of a plethora of topics that Baldwin discusses. Although they might seem
insignificant, they serve a great purpose in introducing the societal views of these
ideas and definitions through different perspectives. Masculinity and its perception
by male characters is a topic that is touched on in many of his texts. Whether it s
through the difficulty behind understanding masculinity or using it as a façade to
cloak another secret, Baldwin s characters bring a numerous amount of questions
surrounding the idea of what masculinity is and what it serves others in society.
This topic relates to how 21st Century American society views men and the
importance of a masculine identity. There is this immense backing of the idea that
an ideal man is this macho, testosterone driven individual who can only discuss
sports, drink large amounts of alcohol, and explicit sexual interactions with women,
or what is now considered hypermasculinity . Hypermasculinity is what society
paints as what a man should be , states Tratel Ingram, writer for MTV Voices and
author of the article The Pressure to be Masculine. Hypermasculinity can be defined
as a term for the exaggeration of male stereotypical behavior, such as an emphasis on
physical strength, aggression, and sexuality... It s extremely damaging to men and
boys everywhere.
Teach Nursery Rhymes
ursery rhymes are a fun way to use your imagination and a wonderful way to teach
your child how to read, listen, and speak. Nursery rhyme activities are wonderful in
teaching children at a party or in the classroom. Here are some great tips for teaching
nursery rhymes:
Glow in the dark stars can be used to light up a dark room for Hey Diddle, Diddle.
You can create a cow jumping over the moon and when the lights go out, everyone
will be reminded of this nursery rhyme. The glow in the dark stars are a great way to
set the mood for nighttime when you are reading other nursery rhymes to your child.
Most children will be familiar with nursery rhymes, but for those that aren t you
should start with a nice introduction. When you are introducing
Women and Religion in the Greco-Roman Period
Essay #1 Christian women during the Greco Roman period, according to the church
fathers, were allowed few privileges. Women were thought of as being subordinate to
men and therefore the men should have all the leadership roles, rights and
responsibilities within the church, since they believed women were incapable of
handling such a task. According to the newest Revised Standard translation, it was
written women should be silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak,
but should be subordinate, as even the law says. If there is anything they desire to
know, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a womanto speak in
church. Also within the New Testament there is a passage which states, Let a... Show

Kraemer presents excellent evidence stating that at times women had very
powerful roles in religion. It was the men who tried very hard to obscure this fact,
most contributions women made to religion were changed so that it appeared as
though the men were the ones making the valuable contributions and holding all
the power. Fortunately in our society today there are very well educated and
empowered people attempting to bring to light the fact that the ancient scriptures
and writings were not accurate. They are trying to educate the public about the
way history really took place and hopefully people s minds will be open enough to
use this information to change they way they view religious history and make
changed for the better. I agree with Dr. Kraemer when she says if women do not
bear children, one of the principal divisions of labor disappears, freeing women to
participate in the public life of the community. I believe this one statement to be
the root cause of most of the equal rights issues women face. For if women didn t
have to spend a great portion of their time caring for children while the men went
out and worked and moved up in their jobs and in life, women would have more
time to study religion, work longer hours, become more active in society and in

Examples Of Unreliable Narrator
1.1 Unreliable Narrator/ Skeptical Readers
Wayne C.Booth is the first introducer of the term unreliable narrator back in 1962.
In his perspective, a narrator is reliable when he speaks for or acts in accordance
with the norms of the work, unreliable when he does not (1983: 158 59). In a
nutshell, an unreliable narrator gives the readers either incomplete or inaccurate
information. In the literary context, authors use this type of technique to add a twist
to the plot or the ending of the story for it creates mystery.
To start off, this technique is one of the mainstream characteristics of this book. Right
from the first page, the reader is subtly warned of the fact that the narrator is an
unreliable person and can t be trusted. So, the ... Show more content on

Repetition is done for rhythm in poetry or generally in tongue twisters. Nonetheless,
in literature, it is used to put special emphasis or attention on a character,
characteristic or a subject. When studied in detail, I, personality, argue that Barnes
uses repetition in this book to underline one of the key steps that could be taken to
avoid forgetting or misremembering the past as this is the dominant theme of the
book. Here are couples of sentences and words that have been repeated:

Tony and his close friends use this term rather frequently in many cases during their
school years. It s something that they say instead of normal (55). The last time it
was used is during the discussion of Adrian s suicide. Serdar Rifat KД±rkoДџlu, the
translator, preferred translating this phrase word for word which I argue is the right
choice because the book includes many sarcastic commentaries about philosophical
issues. So it is important to convey those implications.

Mystery and Menace in Black Veil and Signal Man Essay

Compare how Dickens creates a sense of mystery and menace in the
Black Veil and the Signal Man . Explain how he uses these theories to explore his
theme?
The opening of both stories are quite different. The Black Veil is written in the third
person and The Signal man is written in the first person narrative. The Black Veil
creates an atmosphere of cosiness and warmth which is created by the items of
clothing which are worn by the doctor. reposing in his dressing gown and slippers

His physical appearance is overcast a dark sallow man, with dark beard and rather
heavy eyebrows. Dickens description likens him to a ghost
the fixed eyed saturnine face . angry sunset is used to add a fiery red light to his
dark valley, which is shown with phrases such as his figure was foreshortened and
shadowed , and again adding an element of mystery because the narrator says I had
shaded my eyes with my hand before I saw him at all to first of all, introduce the
spectre s gesture, but also to give the impression that the light doesn t reach the
valley, but skims the top and he has to block it out to see into the darkness, and by
using the word angry , he makes the sunlight seem almost intimidating in itself. He
first plants the idea of the Signalman not being all he seems, in the readers minds
when he says, as the Signalman looks down the Line, There was something
remarkable in his manner of doing so, though I could not have said, for my life, what.
But I know it was remarkable enough to attract my notice which suggests that he is
not entirely normal. When the narrator asks about a path into the valley, he says the
signalman
looked up at me without replying here, he seems to be somewhat preoccupied and
maybe wary of him. Dickens uses the phrase skimming away over the landscape ,
which sounds ghostly, to describe the vapour given off by the train.

George T-Shirts Essay
Question 1: What are the possible financial outcomes if George orders 5,000 shirts,
7,500 shirts and 10,000 shirts, respectively?
Based on the information given in the case, the expected number of attendees is:
E(x) = 80,000*0.25 + 50,000*0.5 + 20,000*0.25 = 50,000 people
Selling price per shirt: $100/12 = $8.33
Discount price: $1.5
Scenario 1:
Assumption: George orders 5000 T shirts; cost: $17,750; the number of attendees
buy his T shirts are 5%, 10% and 15% respectively
The possible financial outcomes under scenario 1 are as follows:

How much is perfect information worth to him?
George would use the information to maximize his profit. In question 1, George
did not have perfect information about the future, therefore his best bet was to take
the conservative route based on assumptions, and estimations. For instance, the
profit he made based on the assumption in scenario 1 (50,000 people would come,
10% will buy his T shirt) is $23,900. If he had perfect information, say he knew that
the number of attendees would be 80,000 and 10% of them would buy a shirt from
him, he would place an order of exactly 8000 T shirts.
Assumption: He pays $5 for one extra T shirt in excess of 7,500 pcs. * Cost =
$25,250 + 500*$5 = $27,750 * Revenue = 8,000*8.33 = $66,640 * Profit = $66,640
$27,750 = $38,890
Perfect information is worth: $38,890 $23,917 = $14,973
Question 4: Assume George makes T shirts for 30 events per year:
Should George quit his day job and become a T shirt entrepreneur full time?
I will need the following information to address this question. 1) How much is his
income at his current job? 2) Is the income from making T shirts more or less
substantial than his current job? 3) Based on the question he potentially has an
event every 12 days. How big are these events? Are they all as lucrative as the
current event? 4) What is the competitive landscape? Is he the only special events T
shirt maker? If not, how competitive is it? 5) Are there any potential changes
Comparing the Dance of Life in My Papa’s Waltz and...
Parallels of The Dance of Life in My Papa s Waltz and Saturday Night Fever
Throughout the ages, dance has played an important role in society. It symbolizes
tradition, family, bonding, and entertainment. In almost every decade of the
twentieth century, a different style of dance prevailed. In the 1970s, John Travolta
brought disco dancing into the spotlight with his portrayal of Tony Manero in
Saturday Night Fever. Through his depiction of this character, John Travolta shows
the monumental effects of dancing. Literature can also artfully explore the effect of
dance on people. Theodore Roethke s My Papa s Waltz dramatizes a special and
positive moment in a boy s life. The author s word choice reflects the significance of

As they waltz, the boy hangs on like death (536). This imagery and the strong simile
may cause readers to subconsciously decide that the child is in an unhealthy
situation. However, the first line of the next stanza explains that the father and son
romped until the pans slid from the shelf (536). Hans Guth and Gabriele Rico agree
with the interpretation that I had, in saying that Romp is usually an approving word
(Guth and Rico 536). This word expresses a feeling of happy energy, which reflects
how positive the occurrence was for the child.
Dancing, with its often happy energy, can be magical. This magic can altera
relationship between two people, even if only for the duration of the dance. In
Saturday Night Fever, Tony Manero and his dancing partner, Stephanie Migano had a
platonic relationship. This relationship changed into something else on the dance
floor. They bonded; they had a mesmerizing connection to each other. This is parallel
to the situation in My Papa s Waltz. Readers do not know about the relationship
between this father and son, but he recalls this moment for a reason. That waltz
helped them bond. The last stanza supports the positiveness of this dance as the boy
explains that his father then waltzed me off to bed still clinging to your shirt
(Roethke 536). The fact that the child clings to his father suggests that he
Josephine Baker Analysis
Josephine Baker reached the height of her fame during the 1920s, however, she
still was not able to speak about her work and explain what her performances were
trying to convey. This left the audience to decipher the performances for
themselves, while doing so this highlighted the racism that was still apparent in
France. In Phyllis Rose s book Jazz Cleopatra: Josephine Baker in Her Time She
shows quotes from the tabloids saying, We can t find a way to tie the scenes
together, but everything we ve ever read flashes across our enchanted
minds...glimpses of enormous steamboats swallowing clusters of Negros who

Negre interpreted her show based on what they understood Africa to be. Baker was
able to make a lasting impact with her unique look and style and was able to
entertain crowds with her rubber legs (Rose, 1991) and crossed eyes (Rose, 1991)
during a time in which racism was the norm. While she did not exercise complete
control over her own image (Jules Rosette 2007) she used the stage as a way of
expressing herself which she could not do with her voice. In doing so Baker has
influenced many performers today. Most notably she inspired BeyoncГ©

being known for her vast accomplishments, BeyoncГ© has used her craft to highlight

A large percentage of current doctors are reaching the age of retirement and many
students are turned off from the field for multiple reasons. One of the greatest
disadvantages of having any medical job that involves such high stakes, are the
pressures of professional liability. Many doctors are at risk of being sued for
malpractice during their medical careers. Medical liability can deter doctors away
from tending to high risk patients or even practicing at all. According to a study
conducted by the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 58% of OB
GYNs said they changed how they practiced due to the risk or fear of being sued.
Slightly more than one out of four OB GYNs (27%) decreased the number of high

They issue a tentative timeline that is as detailed as possible. In the process they
allocate roughly one third of available planning and preparation time to themselves,
allowing their subordinates the remaining twothirds. During fast paced operations,
planning and preparation time might be extremely limited. Knowing this in advance
enables leaders to emplace SOPs to assist them in these situations.
ISSUE A WARNING ORDER
1 150. Leaders issue the initial WARNO as quickly as possible to give subordinates
maximum time to plan and prepare. They do not wait for additional information. The
WARNO, following the five paragraph field order format, contains as much detail as
available. At a minimum, subordinates need to know critical times like the earliest
time of movement, and when they must be ready to conduct operations. Leaders do
not delay in issuing the initial WARNO. As more information becomes available,
leaders can and should issue additional WARNOs. At a minimum the WARNO
normally includes:
Mission or nature of the operation.
Time and place for issuing the OPORD.
Units or elements participating in the operation.
Specific tasks not addressed by unit SOP.
Timeline for the operation.
Rehearsal guidance.

Transcendentalist Utopia in Ralph Waldo Emerson and
Henry...
Of the scores of utopian concepts within the 1800 s, most remarkable of the influx
was the birth of Transcendentalism. The roots of their religious philosophy extend
much farther back into American history, but in essence, rests in the context of
Unitarianism. It s origins also reach overseas to Romanticism, from which they drew
inspiration from. Transcendentalismwas an important movement that shaped the
course of American literature, it s assertions commonly taking shape in novels,
poems, short stories, and essays, the most famous of authors including Ralph Waldo
Emersonand Henry David Thoreau. Transcendentalists sought for their sentiments to
be present in the United States, to redefine man in response to the changing context
of America. Since it s emergence in the 1820 s, Transcendentalism had lasting
religious, social, and political implications on the order of society. Unitarianism had
developed as a branch of the liberal wing of Christianity, which had separated from
the Orthodox Christianity during the First Great Awakening. Unitarians value the
hallmarks of Christian Enlightenment , and it s philosophy stressed the importance of
voluntary ethical conduct (Emergence of Transcendentalism). Yet, the
Transcendentalists felt something was absent in Unitarianism; the sobriety, mildness,
and calm rationalism, failed to satisfy the Transcendentalists whom yearned for a
more intense spiritual experience (Emergence of Transcendentalism). For

If you routinely dry tubs, showers counters and sinks, but still have an issue, check
for a water leak. Inspect under the sink and behind the toilet as well as the floors,
faucets, showerheads, and around accessible pipes for leaks. Ensure the shower door
is not allowing water to leak out onto the floor. Ideal indoor humidity is 50%, air
conditioning or dehumidifiers can assist in reducing humidity, and deterring mold.

leaking bath fixtures.
Allow the ventilation fan to run during showers and baths, and for 20 minutes
afterwards to allow the moisture time to dry. If you do not have a ventilator fan,
opening a window can be helpful when weather permits. Consider installing a fan,
selecting the correct cubic feet per minute (CFM) rating for your bathroom. To
determine the size you need, multiply the room s square footage by 1.1 for 8 ft.
ceilings, or by 1.5 for 9 ft. ceilings. The result is your required CFM.
Use an absorbent towel or squeegee to dry the shower and sink after showering or
cleaning up at the sink. In addition, if the rug outside your shower is wet, hang it up
to dry. Remove wallpaper in the bathroom, and monitor drywall for moisture to
prevent mold. If drywall becomes wet, use a fan on it to dry it, and ventilate with
windows open when weather permits.

Canadian Culture Analysis
This is not the first time that Canada fights against America in order to protect
Canadian culture. Canada s protective measures were mainly to protect the national
or domestic culture in that the local magazine outlets were being overshadowed by
their International rival which is America.(Globalization 101). Should Canadanot
have taken these measures probably 100% of its local markets would have been
monopolized by America. International product and service providers like America
have the advantage of having all the production material from the primary phase to
the tertiary phase and they can easily overtake any market they decide to outlet their
services. Justice is served when the local governments step in to defend the

More often, trade disputes are settled by both sides coming to a compromise. It is
obvious that the people with purchasing power can vote.(Globalization 101). But if
only the minority of the population have purchasing power what will of of the rest
of the people? It could be that the foreign magazines are cheaper than the local ones
as is with many globalized goods and services which are offered at very competitive

To a certain extent I believe that it is fair, to avoid the American magazines and
other international magazines from establishing more split runs in Canada. I know
that globalization does not agree on imposing extra levy to international traders due
to the spread of interaction and maybe exchange of skills and know how but it is
unfair for a country to be overpowered by foreign traders. If the foreign traders care
to aid the country s economy then this should be done in a more sophisticated manner
not by overtaking production by 89%.(Globalization

Amazon further offers free shipping on Kindle content and better online shopping

flexibility of monthly fee offers, and the option to terminate and restart service

streaming content depends. The company currently offers the latest movies and
television shows content at a cost saving price, unlike Netflix who offers older
shows and movies for three dollars less per year, but charges up to an additional

is doing exceptionally well and does not need to extend their library content, unless
they would like to incorporate older movies or foreign movies into their package.

The Rhetorical Analysis Of General Douglas Macarthur s
Speech
As of 2014, the VA estimates there were 22 million military veterans in the U.S.
population. Over time the population of those to fight in the war has grown. There
are many important contributors to the war. One of them was General Douglas
Macarthur, who was an American general and also chief of staff of the United States
army. Macarthur commanded in World War two and successfully led United Nations
in the Korean War. In his speech: Sylvanus Thayer Award

possibility of interdisciplinary solutions. It was interested to see how socioeconomic
and political factors affect behavior and health, and particularly in our research,
violent death rates. I am the 3rd author of an analysis paper in the journal Aggression

J Alfred Prufrock Masculinity
When T.S. Eliot decided to title his poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock
what was the purpose? After reading the poem, we are not filled with joy, warmth,
and tenderness that a love song might typically give us what we as readers are
expecting upon reading the title. However, in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock,
Eliot illustrates the toxicity of fragile masculinity. What the poem tends to actually
deal with are the struggles of a man who is emotionally distanced and grappling with
difficulties showing his love for women due to his insecurities and self consciousness.
Being the earliest of Eliot s works, it may seem as though the speaker of this poem
simply cannot be Eliot for the speaker in the work is an older man, who keeps
postponing his female endeavors as indeed there will be time (23), which is repeated
throughout the poem. However, the feelings described in The Love Song of J. Alfred
Prufrock can be linked to Eliot himself and young men alike. The reason Eliot may
have chosen to title his poem as he did, in a way that contrasts the content, is that
many men encounter these feelings and deal with them in similar ways. Many men
feel that showing love and/or emotions, emotional vulnerability, and sensitivity is a ...

Succinate Dehydrogenase
The experiment aimed to determine the effectiveness of differential centrifugation
and tissue homogenisation methods of separating and purifying subcellular
organelles from liver tissue. Effectiveness was determined by assaying for the
activity of marker enzymes specific to organelles in each fraction and calculating the
specific activities and percentage distribution of each enzyme in each fraction
(Watson, 2016).
The first enzyme marker used was Succinate Dehydrogenase which catalyses the
oxidation of succinate to fumarate in the tricarboxylic acid cycle (Hollywood, et al.,
2010). This cycle occurs within mitochondria and succinate dehydrogenase is
specifically found within the inner mitochondrial membrane. Therefore, succinate
dehydrogenase activity is an indicator of mitochondrial activity (Berg, et al., 2007).

The heavy membrane fraction had the highest percentage distribution (93.236 %) of
succinate dehydrogenase, indicating good separation of the mitochondria into their
predicted fraction and the success of differential centrifugation as a method of
separation. A small percentage of succinate dehydrogenase was also found in the light
membrane and cytosolic fractions: 6.131 % and 0.633 % respectively. The activity in
these two fractions could be due to excessive homogenisation causing fragmentation
of mitochondria into small low density fragments. The lower density meant they
achieved sedimentation at higher centrifugal forces than expected resulting in
separation into the light membrane or cytosol fraction (Claude, 1946). Additionally,
mitochondrial activity could be present in the light membrane fraction due to
disruption of the heavy membrane pellet during transfer of the supernatant, causing
the pellet to contaminate the

The Importance Of Year-Round Schooling
Year round schooling is a system that lengthens the amount of days spent in school by
shortening the duration of vacations. Although students may think otherwise, year
round schooling should be enforced in schools today. Year round schooling keeps
students stimulated, throughout the entire school year. Year round schooling
improves a student s academic and social performance as well as supporting families
financial strains. If year round schooling is not enforced, the academic scores of the
students will continue to decrease.
Year round schooling increases students academic performances. A study from the

Child Labour In Ethiopia Essay
Introduction
Child labour is a very real problem in the world today, and although it is declining,
progress is happening at a slow and unequal pace. Child labour by the International
Labour Organization is defined as work that deprives children of their childhood, their
potential and their dignity, and that is harmful to physical and mental development
(Diallo, Etienne, Mehran, 2013, p. 2). In the most extreme forms of child labour it
could account for child enslavement, separation from their families, exposure to
serious hazards and illnesses and being left to fend for themselves on the streets
(Dinopoulos Zhao, 2007). In order for certain types of work to be included as child
labour depends on the child s age, the type of work, ... Show more content on

To further my argument I will use Ethiopia as a case study to show how
globalization has provided the push for countries to acknowledge the problem of
child labour and create actions to fix it. This paper will be divided as follows:
firstly I will provide a brief background on child labour in the world; secondly I will
provide the situation in Ethiopia; thirdly I will present the actions that the
government has placed to combat child labour in accordance with my argument;
lastly, I will give my recommendations regarding the implications of the actions of the
Ethiopian government.
Child Labour in the World Today
In 2008, there were approximately 215 million child labourers, aged 5 17, in the
world. According to the International Labour Organization, the number of child
labourers globally fell by 3% from the years of 2004 2008 which is slower in
comparison to the 2000 2004 period that had an 11% decrease (Diallo, Etienne,
Mehran, 2013).There has also been a 15% decrease in the number of girls in child
labour in contrast to boys who are having their work increase (United Nations, 2013).
Among them, 115 million children were in hazardous work which includes:
prostitution, agriculture, mining, militia, construction, manufacturing, service
industries, hotels, bars, and domestic service (Cigno, Rosati, Guarcello, 2002). The
terms hazard and risk are often used with this type of child
Overpopulation Is A Global Catastrophe
Naturally, as our population grows in size our growth rate increases exponentially.
As a result, we face the issue of overpopulation, one of the many dangerous trends
discussed in Anthony Barnosky and Elizabeth Hadly s Tipping Point for Planet
Earth. Currently, if we do not make any changes, it is expected that we will reach a
populationsize over twenty seven billion people by the year 2100. Along with this
massive increase in population size, we will also face a rise in food and water
shortages, an increase in population density, and an overall loss of quality of life. In
order to prevent these potential effects, Barnosky and Hadly suggested three possible
solutions to combating overpopulationa global catastrophe, a one child policy, or an
increase in education, job, and contraception availability among girls. Any one of
these solutions will potentially help us prevent overpopulation; however, exactly
which solution it ends up being all depends on our preparation and the actions we
take now. Ideally, we would like to avoid a global catastrophe that would decimate
the population. But, if we are unable to lower our growth rate another world war, or
something like a pandemic could occur. While no correlation between population
density and nation level conflict has been made, the connection between
overcrowding and increased internal conflict has been (Tir 1998). Thus, it would be
preferable to take advantage of the other solutions like the one child policy that China

Jurassic Park Ethical Issues
The fourth film in the Jurassic Park series was released the summer of 2015, 22 years
after the first movie, Jurassic Park, was released. Movie goers had long awaited a

Frankenstein Destiny Research Paper
Within this quote lies an underlying theme that connects all of the novels we have
read as a class this semester the concept of destiny. Destiny plays a different role in
each of the individual novels, however one question remains the same: is destiny a
matter of choice or rather one of chance? In other words, could any one of the
various protagonists we read about whether it be Edna, Jude, Huck, Frankenstein, the
creation, or even Jay Gatsby have made different choices in their life to ultimately
lead more successful lifestyles? The answer is yes. As William Jennings Bryan once
said, Destinyis no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be
waited for, it is a thing to be achieved. All of the protagonists in the novels could
have made different choices in order to create a better destiny for themselves, but...

Destiny can be identified as a prevalent theme in the story of Frankenstein, as
Victor relays his life as one with a predetermined wicked destiny, rejecting and
deserting his own creation, who in turn responds with rebellion and murder. As he
tells Walton of the events leading up to their encounter, he often mentions how key
events were predetermined and unavoidable. Frankenstein believed destiny had
chosen a path for him and that he had no option but to follow. Ultimately, Victor s
willingness to blame his life s resolution on fate shows weakness in his character
and an inability to take responsibility for his personal judgement, as he uses it as an
excuse for failure and his acceptance of it. Victor willingly made the choice to run
from his creation, rather than to face his wrongdoings and

diminishing the overall powerful effect that my speechshould have gave. As I

sentences abruptly created a weak feeling at the end of my presentation. As I
watched the recording of my presentation on repeat, I noticed that my pacing was
very well executed. I didn t speak too fast nor did I speak too slow, which is good
because my classmates were able to follow along with what I was saying. Not only
that, but I also provided eye contact to my classmates, showing that I was well
prepared and did not need to read my note cards as much. Of course, with strengths,
there were also weaknesses portrayed. I often stuttered at a couple of phrases
because of my anxiety and I would also finish some of my sentences abruptly,
leaving a poor execution. I realized that once I began saying a certain sentence and
mess up mid way through, I would end the sentence with words that wouldn t be as
clear. Now knowing my weaknesses and strengths, I will better prepare myself for
my next upcoming speech by practicing my speeches with more word choices when I
say it verbally, allowing myself to become more aware of the variety of
Bullying In American Schools
Bullying is a growing problem in American schools; an increase in bullying over a
period of time can lead to suicide or negative impacts on health. Although some
believe that students should not be formally charged for bullying, they should be
because that is a cruel act and could lead to negative things. Opponents suggest that
students should not be formally charged with bullying. They argue that students do
not have the capacity to understand the consequences of their actions. For example, if
a student bullies another student, they have no way of knowing that their actions
could lead to that student harming themselves. Opponents of bullying believes that
students should be formally charged for bullying in schools. Being a bully s victim...

They argue there should be a collaboration and involvement of authority figures to
solve the issue (Yousefi). They also believe that if a bully is charged it would
cause an increase in negative behavior towards the victim, because others may think
the accusations or arrest were unjustified. Its impact can be devastating to the
accused and unhelpful to the victim (Yousefi). People would begin calling the
victim words like snitch and scarycat , or even the victim being attacked by the
bullies friends. Although majority of the time, victims do not want to share their
problems with authority figures. They become socially inactive, which makes them
not want to share their issues. Bullying is very cruel and can be devastating. It s
hard for others to understand the pain they go through, which causes others to be
against the bully being charged. Now, In the last decade or so when internet began
spreading like wildfire, we realized things like this should be controlled and tamed.
Anti Bully laws were enacted in order to secure safety in

  • 2. The Effectiveness of the Criminal Justice System in... The reservation of the Convention on the Rights of a Child (CROC) had played invaluable role in charging the way in which young offenders are dealt with within the Australia Criminal Process. Including the introduction of the theory known as Doli Incapax meaning the age of criminal reasonability, the Young Offender Act 1997 NSW as well new law regarding the rights of a child once they have been arrested. It is evident that these while some of charges are still ineffective in dealing with Young Offenders within the Criminal JusticeSystem the majority of them are in place for the greater good and are assisting young offenders when it relates to the Criminal Justice System. Doli Incapax is just one of the ways in which children are now treated more equally under the law. According to the theory it is presumption that children are incapable of having criminal intent which in terms means that children under the age of 10 are unable to be charge with any criminal offence and when relating to children 10 to 13 the prosecution make be able to show that the child at the time of the alleged offence actually know what they were doing was seriously wrong. According to Section 6 of the Children (Criminal Proceedings) Act 1987 children have rights equal to adult offender and have a right to be heard and participate in criminal proceedings that affect them, children are responsible for their actions however require guidance and assistance and where possible a child should be able to
  • 3. Analysis Of The Poem Sandpiper And Sophy On The Son s... How could, both the narrator in Sandpiper and Sophy in The Son s Veto , evoke feelings of both sympathy and frustration? DRAFT 4 Manzar The chaired lady ... This is one of the first impressions of Sophy that Hardy presents to readers. The word chaired suggests a sense of weakness, inability and insignificance. These ideas are crucially embedded through Sophy in The son s veto and the narrator in Sandpiper . The authors do this to emphasise the tragic lives of the characters and how they are victims of the societies that mould their perception. To begin with, readers feel sympathy towards Sophy in The Son s Veto as she is constantly mocked by Randolph, who views her with great contempt, I am ashamed of you! It will ruin me! A miserable boor! A churl! A clown! Randolf hasn t even met Sam yet and already becomes judgmental and compares him to a boor and a churl simply because of his lower social status. This authenticates that Randolph has no concerns for his mother s feelings and is just being exceedingly egoistic and all he cares about is his status. Hardy might be trying to depict that narcissism is a trait that comes along with high status. This is quite ironic because his father had no problem with marrying a woman with lower status. However, the frustration kicks in when Sophy says, Say no more perhaps I am wrong! I will struggle against it , as she denies the one thing she loves the most, just for her son who almost resents her. This frustrates the
  • 4. Gas Utilization Of Oil And Gas Technologies Although the difficulty in storing processing, transporting and distributing gas makes it difficult to utilise (Cost of transporting per unit energy is about 10 times higher than that of oil) (Thomas et al, 2000), the evolution in oil and gas technologies has presented many new ways for the commercialisation of APG, Technological options for the monetisation of APG categorised into the methods available for getting gas from production sites to consumers where it can consumed. In this chapter the various methods would be briefly described, highlighting obtainable products and benefits, challenges and limitations and viability conditions. These methods are summarised as shown in figure 10. Figure 10: Paths to gas monetisation 4.1.1 Pipelines This is the oldest and simplest form of gas utilization. It involves transporting treated gas from producers directly to its consumers (Speight, 2007; Kidnay et al., 2006) 4.1.1.1 Products and Benefits The product is pipeline quality gas for domestic, commercial and industrial use or for further processing. Utilized mainly for power and heat generation. Once in place, this system aids the utilization of massive amounts of APG a well planned out pipeline network could supply numerous consumers from numerous producers 4.1.1.2 Challenges and Limitations The Pipeline system is inflexible. Once built, routes cannot be changed and additional connections are complex and uneconomical. Once piping diameters are decided, quantities that can be
  • 5. Depressive Disorder Essay Efficacy of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy on Depression Level among Patients with Major Depressive Disorder in Mental Health Settings: A Research Proposal Introduction Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) has a high prevalence rate; it affects more than 16.1 million American adults of the US population aged 18 years or older (Anxiety and Depression Association of America [ADAA], 2017). MDD is more common in women than in men and can develop at any age (Kessler, Berglund, Demler, 2003). Major depressive disorder is defined as a mental disorder that is characterized by a general low mood accompanied by low self esteem and loss of pleasure in normal daily activities (World Health Organization [WHO], 2010). The diagnosis of MDD needs a distinct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Given the strength of evidence that supports cognitive behavioral therapy as an effective treatment for depression; many clinical practice guidelines strongly recommend CBT as the first line treatment along with antidepressant medication for MDD (Driessen Hollon, 2010; Tucker Oei, 2007). Treating or at least reducing depression levels among patients with MDD is considered an important issue in mental health because of the high risks of its consequences as the suicide attempts, disabilities, and high financial spent on MDD treatment and prevention. However, there is a gap in the literature that discuss the effect of CBT for depression among patients with MDD and little is known about the effectiveness of CBT on MDD in mental health settings yet. This study will have wide application in nursing practice, education, and research. The anticipated outcomes of this study will be used to recommend the importance of cognitive behavioral therapy in treating MDD to be used by healthcare providers as a usual care for MDD. Furthermore, this study will offer a baseline data about for knowledge and research about the effectiveness of depression treatment in routine clinical practice in mental health settings. Research purpose The main purpose of this study is to examine the effect of CBT in reducing depression level among patients with major depressive disorder as well as to
  • 6. Life Span Perspective Analysis The number of different theories used practiced in social work can be overwhelming. At first glance, the various approaches bleed together and seem too similar to decipher one from the next. But, after an in depth study of each model, the differences become evident. Two of the approaches that especially stand out are the Life Span Perspective and the Strengths Perspective. The Life Span Perspective draws from multiple theories to emphasize growth and change over a lifetime. The Strengths Perspective differs from other social worktheories by focusing on the positive characteristics of a client and their environment. The Life Span Perspective evaluates a person over their entire lifecycle by evaluating their social, psychodynamic, cognitive, moral, spiritual and biological change and growth. Every different experience from a younger stage affects that person through the rest of her lifespan. While each person is unique, this perspective gives us a framework of the life course and gives us ideas of what to expect from one stage to the next. Because this viewpoint draws from Positivist and Developmental theories, it looks for patterns and similarities. While this can be helpful, it fails to acknowledge individual resilience and the power... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This perspective spotlights the effect that early childhood trauma can have on a person and explains why therapists spend so much time inquiring after painful experiences of the past. Having a deeper understanding of child development can help a social worker assist an adult client who deal with a problem stemming from an earlier stage of life. This perspective would be especially useful in a mezzo or macro environment, where trends and predictions can help shape
  • 7. Masculinity And Its Perception By Male Characters Essay James Baldwin is a wonderful author in regards to weaving certain topics, both controversial and non controversial, into his texts. The struggle with masculinity is one of a plethora of topics that Baldwin discusses. Although they might seem insignificant, they serve a great purpose in introducing the societal views of these ideas and definitions through different perspectives. Masculinity and its perception by male characters is a topic that is touched on in many of his texts. Whether it s through the difficulty behind understanding masculinity or using it as a faГ§ade to cloak another secret, Baldwin s characters bring a numerous amount of questions surrounding the idea of what masculinity is and what it serves others in society. This topic relates to how 21st Century American society views men and the importance of a masculine identity. There is this immense backing of the idea that an ideal man is this macho, testosterone driven individual who can only discuss sports, drink large amounts of alcohol, and explicit sexual interactions with women, or what is now considered hypermasculinity . Hypermasculinity is what society paints as what a man should be , states Tratel Ingram, writer for MTV Voices and author of the article The Pressure to be Masculine. Hypermasculinity can be defined as a term for the exaggeration of male stereotypical behavior, such as an emphasis on physical strength, aggression, and sexuality... It s extremely damaging to men and boys everywhere.
  • 8. Teach Nursery Rhymes ursery rhymes are a fun way to use your imagination and a wonderful way to teach your child how to read, listen, and speak. Nursery rhyme activities are wonderful in teaching children at a party or in the classroom. Here are some great tips for teaching nursery rhymes: Glow in the dark stars can be used to light up a dark room for Hey Diddle, Diddle. You can create a cow jumping over the moon and when the lights go out, everyone will be reminded of this nursery rhyme. The glow in the dark stars are a great way to set the mood for nighttime when you are reading other nursery rhymes to your child. Most children will be familiar with nursery rhymes, but for those that aren t you should start with a nice introduction. When you are introducing
  • 9. Women and Religion in the Greco-Roman Period Essay #1 Christian women during the Greco Roman period, according to the church fathers, were allowed few privileges. Women were thought of as being subordinate to men and therefore the men should have all the leadership roles, rights and responsibilities within the church, since they believed women were incapable of handling such a task. According to the newest Revised Standard translation, it was written women should be silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be subordinate, as even the law says. If there is anything they desire to know, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a womanto speak in church. Also within the New Testament there is a passage which states, Let a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kraemer presents excellent evidence stating that at times women had very powerful roles in religion. It was the men who tried very hard to obscure this fact, most contributions women made to religion were changed so that it appeared as though the men were the ones making the valuable contributions and holding all the power. Fortunately in our society today there are very well educated and empowered people attempting to bring to light the fact that the ancient scriptures and writings were not accurate. They are trying to educate the public about the way history really took place and hopefully people s minds will be open enough to use this information to change they way they view religious history and make changed for the better. I agree with Dr. Kraemer when she says if women do not bear children, one of the principal divisions of labor disappears, freeing women to participate in the public life of the community. I believe this one statement to be the root cause of most of the equal rights issues women face. For if women didn t have to spend a great portion of their time caring for children while the men went out and worked and moved up in their jobs and in life, women would have more time to study religion, work longer hours, become more active in society and in general
  • 10. Examples Of Unreliable Narrator 1.1 Unreliable Narrator/ Skeptical Readers Wayne C.Booth is the first introducer of the term unreliable narrator back in 1962. In his perspective, a narrator is reliable when he speaks for or acts in accordance with the norms of the work, unreliable when he does not (1983: 158 59). In a nutshell, an unreliable narrator gives the readers either incomplete or inaccurate information. In the literary context, authors use this type of technique to add a twist to the plot or the ending of the story for it creates mystery. To start off, this technique is one of the mainstream characteristics of this book. Right from the first page, the reader is subtly warned of the fact that the narrator is an unreliable person and can t be trusted. So, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But I know it was remarkable enough to attract my notice which suggests that he is not entirely normal. Hans Guth and Gabriele Rico agree with the interpretation that I had, in saying that Romp is usually an approving word (Guth and Rico 536). Readers do not know about the relationship between this father and son, but he recalls this moment for a reason. That waltz helped them bond. The last stanza supports the positiveness of this dance as the boy explains that his father then waltzed me off to bed still clinging to your shirt (Roethke 536). Effectiveness was determined by assaying for the activity of marker enzymes specific to organelles in each fraction and calculating the specific activities and percentage distribution of each enzyme in each fraction (Watson, 2016). The first enzyme marker used was Succinate Dehydrogenase which catalyses the oxidation of succinate to fumarate in the tricarboxylic acid cycle (Hollywood, et al., 2010). • 33. Child Labour In Ethiopia Essay Introduction Child labour is a very real problem in the world today, and although it is declining, progress is happening at a slow and unequal pace. Child labour by the International Labour Organization is defined as work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity, and that is harmful to physical and mental development (Diallo, Etienne, Mehran, 2013, p. 2). In the most extreme forms of child labour it could account for child enslavement, separation from their families, exposure to serious hazards and illnesses and being left to fend for themselves on the streets (Dinopoulos Zhao, 2007). Child Labour in the World Today In 2008, there were approximately 215 million child labourers, aged 5 17, in the world. According to the International Labour Organization, the number of child labourers globally fell by 3% from the years of 2004 2008 which is slower in comparison to the 2000 2004 period that had an 11% decrease (Diallo, Etienne, Mehran, 2013).There has also been a 15% decrease in the number of girls in child labour in contrast to boys who are having their work increase (United Nations, 2013). Among them, 115 million children were in hazardous work which includes: prostitution, agriculture, mining, militia, construction, manufacturing, service industries, hotels, bars, and domestic service (Cigno, Rosati, Guarcello, 2002). • 34. Overpopulation Is A Global Catastrophe Naturally, as our population grows in size our growth rate increases exponentially. As a result, we face the issue of overpopulation, one of the many dangerous trends discussed in Anthony Barnosky and Elizabeth Hadly s Tipping Point for Planet Earth. Currently, if we do not make any changes, it is expected that we will reach a populationsize over twenty seven billion people by the year 2100. Along with this massive increase in population size, we will also face a rise in food and water shortages, an increase in population density, and an overall loss of quality of life. In order to prevent these potential effects, Barnosky and Hadly suggested three possible solutions to combating overpopulationa global catastrophe, a one child policy, or an increase in education, job, and contraception availability among girls. Any one of these solutions will potentially help us prevent overpopulation; however, exactly which solution it ends up being all depends on our preparation and the actions we take now. Ideally, we would like to avoid a global catastrophe that would decimate the population. But, if we are unable to lower our growth rate another world war, or something like a pandemic could occur. While no correlation between population density and nation level conflict has been made, the connection between overcrowding and increased internal conflict has been (Tir 1998). Thus, it would be preferable to take advantage of the other solutions like the one child policy that China

I was so excited to have seen a taxi, it was something I had been looking forward to. Look mom a taxi! I exclaimed. That s nice honey, she replied unenthusiastically, looking down at her map. Take a left up here. She said to my dad, driving the car. Are we almost there? My sister, Molly, piped up, sensing my excitement. My dad just sighed and ignored her. I craned my head to see out the window, the entire window was filled with skyscrapers, so tall I couldn t see the sky. It struck me with wonder as I whipped my head from side to side, trying to take it all in. Molly was mimicking me, she looked around, taking in her new environment. I turned around to see how my brother, James, was reacting. He, unsurprisingly, was asleep. Eventually, we pulled over and got out of the car. This area was quieter than the rest, but still loud. • 39. Frankenstein Destiny Research Paper Within this quote lies an underlying theme that connects all of the novels we have read as a class this semester the concept of destiny. Destiny plays a different role in each of the individual novels, however one question remains the same: is destiny a matter of choice or rather one of chance? In other words, could any one of the various protagonists we read about whether it be Edna, Jude, Huck, Frankenstein, the creation, or even Jay Gatsby have made different choices in their life to ultimately lead more successful lifestyles? The answer is yes. As William Jennings Bryan once said, Destinyis no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved. All of the protagonists in the novels could have made different choices in order to create a better destiny for themselves, but... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Destiny can be identified as a prevalent theme in the story of Frankenstein, as Victor relays his life as one with a predetermined wicked destiny, rejecting and deserting his own creation, who in turn responds with rebellion and murder. As he tells Walton of the events leading up to their encounter, he often mentions how key events were predetermined and unavoidable. Frankenstein believed destiny had chosen a path for him and that he had no option but to follow. Ultimately, Victor s willingness to blame his life s resolution on fate shows weakness in his character and an inability to take responsibility for his personal judgement, as he uses it as an excuse for failure and his acceptance of it. Victor willingly made the choice to run from his creation, rather than to face his wrongdoings and

A Reflection On My Values Speech By reflecting upon my Values Speech, I will be more aware of what skills I have already accomplished and what skills I need to improve on in order to prepare myself better for the next big speech as well as to further improve my public speaking skills. Now that I look back at the recording of my presentation, I clearly saw strengths that were shown, but there were also weaknesses that I revealed, diminishing the overall powerful effect that my speechshould have gave. As I watched Amy Cuddy s TED talk called Your body languageshapes who you are , I learned more about body language and what I should ve done when I presented my Values Speech. Throughout my reflection, I will discuss my strengths that I portrayed during my speech such as pacing and eye contact as well as the limitations, for instance, stuttering and abruptly finishing my sentences, and then I will finish off my reflection with the levels of confidence and body language I portrayed. First off, there were many strengths that I believed were demonstrated within my Values Speech such as pacing and eye contact with my fellow classmates, but despite the strengths that were seen, the weaknesses of stuttering and finishing sentences abruptly created a weak feeling at the end of my presentation. As I watched the recording of my presentation on repeat, I noticed that my pacing was very well executed. I didn t speak too fast nor did I speak too slow, which is good because my classmates were able to follow along with what I was saying. Not only that, but I also provided eye contact to my classmates, showing that I was well prepared and did not need to read my note cards as much. Of course, with strengths, there were also weaknesses portrayed. I often stuttered at a couple of phrases because of my anxiety and I would also finish some of my sentences abruptly, leaving a poor execution. I realized that once I began saying a certain sentence and mess up mid way through, I would end the sentence with words that wouldn t be as clear. Now knowing my weaknesses and strengths, I will better prepare myself for my next upcoming speech by practicing my speeches with more word choices when I say it verbally, allowing myself to become more aware of the variety of
