Economic Viability Of The Slave Trade System
How Did Economic Viability of The Slave Trade System in relation to The Productivity of Slave
Agriculture Change over Time? The transatlantic slave trade which took place during the mid
seventeenth century until the late eighteenth century is observed as one of the largest forced
migrations (Lewis, et Al., 2009, 2). The discovery of the America s pursued by European nations
led to the uncovering of significant luxury goods and precious metals such as sugar, coffee, and
gold (Eltis, 2008, 1). The slave trade resulted in African slaves that were trafficked from Africa to
the America s to be used as labor supply to mass produce these goods on plantations set up along the
coast. These luxury products in its primary form were produced at these plantations and were
transported back to Europe to satisfy the high demand for luxury goods (Eltis, 2008, 4). Over the
period where the transatlantic slave trade was active, the relationship between the economic
viability of the slave trade system and the agricultural productivity of slaves offset each other and
move with each other. The research presented has demonstrated that mortality rates of slaves and
transportation costs affected the economic viability to sustain the slave trade which would then
affect agricultural slave productivity on the plantations within the Caribbean. What has been
examined throughout the research findings conveys the idea that in the beginning of the slave
trade, high transportation costs and high mortality

The Challenges Of The Conflict Between North And South Korea
The fourth challenge to unite these two countries is their conflicts. This conflict is start from 1950
to1953. North Korea forces invaded South Korea in 1950 because, at that time both government
want to unite these two states (Wikipedia, List of border incidents involving North Korea, 2015).
The Korean War began as a civil war between North and South Korea, but the conflict soon became
international when, under U.S leadership, the United Nations joined to support South Korea and
the People s Republic of China (PRC) entered to aid North Korea. The Korea war ends when a
ceasefire agreement is signed in July 1953 (Wikipedia, Ceasefire, 2015). Finally, North Korean
leader King Li Sung decided to invade to South Korea. 2million people died during in the war. The
Korean Demilitarized Zone(DMN) is created to separate the two countries. Indeed, they got cease
fires agreement but they have many... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, we may see the differences of North and South Korea about political system, their
main supporters, their power problem, their economies and they have a lot of conflicts. Last
October Kim Jong UN visited to South Korea s unification minister in Seoul, but there was no
improvement between them (Tube, 2015), and we can see recent conflicts in August. That mean
there has still tension between two nations. Another one is Kim Jong UN may not open his
power, as I mention above he does not want to share his power. We can see clearly he executive
his only uncle and his top adviser because those two men can make challenges to his powers. And,
economic is another big reason that may not be unification. A reporter said that South Korea has
to use a lot of money to unify. Moreover, china is the main supporter of North Korea and US is the
main supporter of South Korea. So as long as they are competition each other, it will hard to get

World Values In Brave New World
An interesting quote from this book that during a approach betrays the archetypes of novels,
during this story the villains square measure the heroes, or it d be a lot of correct to mention that
the heroes of the story square measure the villains of the planet. the planet within the brave new
world is incredibly totally different from the one we tend to board, this world values stability a lot
of thus than freedom, and everyone belongs to everybody else (102) there s a sort of collective

Bo Jackson Epic Hero Essay
Bo Jackson is a former athlete recognized across the country. His time in the NFL and MLB was
short compared to most athletes. An injury he sustained while in a game as the result of a tackle
was what pulled his career as a professional athlete to an end. Bo Jackson did continue after his
injury though he was not as his former state and retired shortly after. Through his time in both
sports of football and baseball he was recognised for his incredible speed, strength and ability. Bo
Jacksonstill is not in either hall of fame for reason of his short run in either sport. While no
longer being widely recognized he has some characteristics of an epic hero that make him
exceptional. Bo Jackson s ability in football was first recognized in highschool. He captured the
attention of many schools and coaches for his strength and speed. He has stories of doing
incredible, unbelievable things that follow his name. This characteristic is equal to that of an epic
heros . Bo Jackson was capable of almost inhuman feats. His strength was incredible, and he never
gave up on what he was doing. An epic hero has the characteristic of being capable of great deeds
using strength and courage. Bo Jackson s ability to out run and having much more strength than the

characteristic making Bo an epic hero. Being known both in and outside of the home town or

Reading is an attempt to absorb the thought of the author and know what the author is conveying
(Leedy 1956). Studying is the interpretation of reading materials. Study habits and skills are
particularly important for college students, whose needs include time management, note taking,
Internet skill, the elimination of distractions, and assigning a high priority to study. . Marcus
CredГ© and Nathan R. Kuncel (2008) in their research at the University of Albany said that Study
habit, skill, and attitude inventories and constructs were found to rival standardized tests and
previous grades as predictors of academic performance, yielding substantial incremental validity in
predicting academic performance. The meta analysis examined the construct validity and predictive
validity of 10 study skill constructs for college students. They found that study skill inventories and
constructs are largely independent of both high school grades and scores on standardized admissions
tests but moderately related to various personality constructs; these results were inconsistent with
previous theories. Study motivation and study skills exhibit the strongest relationships with both
grade point average and grades in individual classes. They also said that Academic specific anxiety
was found to be an important negative predictor of performance. In addition, significant variation in
the validity of specific inventories is shown. Scores on traditional study habit

Transformation in Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong Essay
Transformation in Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong
In Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong, Tim O Brien gives a dynamic example of how even the deep
roots of ones culture can be modified. The focus is on the young lady, whose boyfriend manages to
have her shipped over to Vietnam from the U.S. She is then thrown into a completely foreign
culture that thousands of American GI s were experiencing. This change in culture affected the
strongest and most skilled of America s ground troops. The affects on a civilian are almost
unfathomable.
The sweetheart of the story is a young, American girl whose description identifies her as the
stereotypical girl of the late 60 s early 70 s. A tall, big boned blonde,/long legs and blue eyesand a

No cosmetics, no fingernail filing. She stopped wearing jewelry, cut her hair short and wrapped
it in a dark green bandana. Hygiene was a matter of small consequence. (98). The bush had done
to her what it had done to so many American soldiers. She had no idea how to survive in the
conditions that she had taken on, but she learned. She learned how to disassemble an M 16, how
the various parts worked,/ how to use the weapon/ she had a real knack for it./ In many ways she
remained naГЇve and immature, still a kid, but Cleveland Heights now seemed very far away. (98).
These changes were dramatic, but not extreme or drastic. However, the next few changes would be
too much for Mark to handle.
Twice/ she came in late at night. Very late. And then finally she did not come in at all. (99). Mark
became worried that she might be sleeping with someone else. He woke up Rat and him go

Anne was out on Ambush with the Green Beret s. Poor Mark Fossie tried to talk some sense into
her, but it was to no avail. Before long Mary Anne was gone again, this time there would be no
reckoning with her. She had made her decision to be where she felt she belonged. When Mark

The Impact of New Materials on Product Deisng in 20th and 21st Centuries
As new materials are developed and processed, design technologists and people working with
industrial materials must think how these new materials will affect the way in which they design
and manufacture products. Design technologists also have to be conscious of how these materials
effect the environment and the way in which they are recycled. In Today s industry products are
increasingly being made from composite materials. Composite materials are formed by combining
two or more materials that have different properties. The different materials work together to give ...

A wood based material such as chipboard is created by taking wood particles (flakes, chips and
shavings) from all commercial timbers, bonded with synthetic phenolic resin. This type of wood
is also a type of composite. Composite timber products have many advantages over ordinary
timbers such as Oregon. They can utilise smaller dimensions of timber as the raw material, but
can be manufactured to create large dimension composite beams and sheets, etc. Less timber
overall is required to make products which are lighter and stronger than timber. Lower quantities
and smaller sizes of timber means less pressure on native forest timber. Prices of imported timbers
will continue to rise which will continue to make composites a more attractive proposition for
builders and designers. The real disadvantage to manufactured wood based woods is the chemical
fumes that it emits (M.D.F is a banned material in the U.S.A). Due to the resins used into making
the wood once being cut at high speeds the dust can lead to intoxication of chemical fumes. The
other major disadvantage is the non grain finish. Although M.D.F has a smooth finish and for some
products this is ideal, other products are designed for a grain finish. Another material that has made

A Research Study On Mental Disorders
Abstract
People suffering from gender dysphoria, according to the most recent DSM 5(Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders), experience a discrepancy between the assign gender and
the expressed one. Even though not every person experience the same degree, for many people
who suffer from it the depression and anxiety is so overwhelming that they may need a gender
reassignment surgery to feel a real sense of identity. A continued hormonal therapy together with
surgery can offer an important solution for these individuals, minimizing tension between their
sense of gender and their biology. In this research Paper I am going to be talking about this
important, even ethical, topic. Mainly about what is its impact in people who suffer from it, its
signs and symptoms, causes and possible treatments. Gender Dysphoria
Formerly known as GID, gender dysphoria is a disorder (as DSM 5 classified it).Topic that has
been really controversial for many transgender people, and even for some researchers. For that
reason they reclassify it saying that gender dysphoria only applies to persons who experienced a
discontent from gender identity issues. The term is defined by the felling of identification with the
opposite gender and discomfort with the person anatomical sex. Gender and sex are not the same.
The difference between them is explained that the sex is located in the abdomen and the genital
area and gender identity in the brain. An individual with gender dysphoria can has

Phantom Limbs, Phantom Pain, And The Essay
Phantom Limbs, Phantom Pain, And The I Function
The so called I function which describes the brain s sense of self takes on interesting connotations
when discussing phantom limbs and associated phantom pain. The loss of an arm or leg through
amputation is not an easy experience to endure, and is even more difficult when the patient begins
to feel sensations in their now missing limb. These feelings, sometimes referred to as stump
hallucination , is the subjective sensation, not arising from an external stimulus, that an amputated
limb is still present (1). Although they no longer exist, patients perceive these limbs as still being
essential components of their body image, and continues to move in sync with their torso and other

Since there is no visual feedback, initiating motor intention does not activate proprioreceptors (4).
Over time, phantom limbs are deemed by the amputee to be overflexed, which causes a cramping
pain. The question that arises is, if the inconsistency between the intention of the brain and the
perception of the body s actions was to be resolved, could the phantom pain also be eliminated?
Several theories have been developed over the years that have attempted to answer this question,
most notably by Ronald Melzack and Vilayanur Ramachandran.
The earliest hypothesis regarding the cause of phantom limbs and pain was that of neuromas. These
were thought to be nodules comprised of remaining nerves located at the end of the stump. These
neuromas presumably continued to generate impulses that traveled up the spinal cord to portions of
the thalamus and somatosensory domains of the cortex. As a result, treatment involved cutting the
nerves just above the neuroma in an attempt to interrupt signaling at each somatosensory level (5).
This and other related theories were deemed unsatisfactory because of the fact the phantom pain
always returned, indicating that there was a more complex reason.
Psychologist Ronald Melzack developed the concept of the neuromatrix and the neurosignature.
This idea held that the brain contained a neuromatrix or a network of neurons that analyzed the
sensory information and allowed the perception of

The Importance Of Trauma In Children
It pointed out that a child can sense a trauma very easily in another person even if that person is
trying to cover it up. The article showed that kids who grow up with caregivers that are suffering
from a trauma often feel that trauma for themselves, for example a parent exhibiting depression
often times leads to a child feeling depression which is why I believe a person with a caregiver
suffering from mental illness is more likely to suffer from that same illness. To me this explains
statistics associated with susceptibility of children to have similar issues as their parents. Children
also learn their coping mechanisms from their parents which can lead to the same types of problems.
Another form of trauma that can very easily effect the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

they have endured during their lives, many of which experienced the trauma during their childhood

In his transition period between getting his practice up and running and finishing his Master s, Mr.
Rubino worked as a prison psychologist which he described as an eye opening experience to why
exactly people commit crimes. He described his eye opening experience as a result of dealing with
inmates. He initially detested many of the inmates due to the fact that many times that they would
interact, they would try to steal things.
In his prison experience he described that every single inmate he talked to had some sort of
history of personal trauma. This made me think that trauma may be directly linked with criminal
behavior. Mr. Rubino went on to tell me that one inmate in particular had the most positive
demeanor and seemed to really have him self together compared to the group he was among in
prison. However, he was one of the people who Mr. Rubino found was most commonly stealing

Why I Am An Engineer
Engineering is a field of boundless possibilities that makes everything that we do possible. Ranging
from bridges field with civil engineering and medical field with biomechanical engineering to the
oil industry with petroleum engineering, engineering is a vast field of opportunities.
The buildings we work at, the cars we drive, the technology we use have all been made possible by
the work of engineers. That is the main reason why I desire to be an engineer. I want to work in a
field that I will be able to make a difference and have a job that am proud of and still enjoy.
The first engineering class that I attended was quite surprising. My perception of engineering had
always been of technical equations and solving complex issues. This class on the other hand
introduced me to the work of Raymond B. Landis who wrote the book studying engineering. The
book was a revelation to me as it articulated what aclass engineering student is a student who has
mastered the tools of success, is confident and determined.
After reading the book I realized that if I was going to be a successful engineer I had to adopt a
new way in which I will use in the process of acquiring my degree in engineering. There are
techniques and steps that are used by world class engineer in the process of acquiring a degree in
engineering.
The main focus of this paper is to articulate how I will proceed in my endeavor to become a world
class engineering student and graduate with a degree in engineering.

Miranda Warning
No person shall be... deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law , (US
Constitution amend. V). Whether law enforcement should be required to give the Miranda warning
upon requesting to search an individual without prior reasoning has caused much controversy in the
past. One might think that a topic as simple as this one would have a simple solution; law
enforcement should be required to give a warning similar to the Miranda warningupon request to
search an individual, or an individual s property, without prior reasoning or warrant. The Miranda
warning is typically issued when a warranted arrest is made, however, this does not alleviate the
need for something similar to the Miranda warning in cases such as Florida v. Bostick in 1991. In
this case, the US Supreme Court ruled that Policemay conduct random drug sweeps of local buses.

The absence of a warning similar to the Miranda warning, stating an individual s right to refuse

Court ruling that law enforcement could, upon pulling a vehicle over for unrelated reasons, search
one s vehicle, even if the initial cause of the stop had been resolved. It was settled upon that law
enforcement could do so without advising the individual that they were free to leave preceding the
demand to search the vehicle. In such situations, the lack of prior knowledge of the right to refuse a

Interloper By Saki
To be competitive is not necessarily a horrible quality in of itself, unless one is craving the blood
of someone else. Especially, none other than your neighbor. In the short story, Interloper by Saki,
the competition between the two main characters, Georg Znaeym and Ulrich Von Gradwitz, is
rather intense. The two are on a life long quest, driven by their competitive spirit, to hunt the other
down, even if it leads to their death. Saki illustrates their competitive spirit through their pride, hate
for each other, and nature itself. First and foremost, throughout the story, Georg and Ulrich s
competitive spirit was constantly illustrated through their pride in many various ways. One of the
many ways was when Saki narrates, The feud might, perhaps, have died down or been
compromised if the personal ill will of the two men had not stood in the way... (1). At any given
moment, the feud could have been forgotten or even forgiven, but the two refused to let that
happen. This gives reason to believe that the only reason why their fight persisted was partially due
to their pride. Their pride mentally prohibited them from putting an end to the feud, thus depicting
their competitive spirit.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During their quarrelsome argument, Ulrich said, I m caught in my own forest land. When my
men come to release us you will wish, perhaps, that you were in a better plight than caught
poaching on a neighbour s land, shame on you (Saki 3). Alternatively, Ulrich is saying that he is
planning on killing Georg once he escapes. This feeling further intensifies the competitive spirit
between the two because Ulrich plans to show no mercy at all. Conversely, Georg would probably
plan for the same to happen to

The First Potential Cause Of Learning Challenge For This...
a.The first potential cause of learning challenge for this scenario is that students are experiencing
high cognitive load. As the description of the scenario states, the students appear to be struggling
because they are taking multiple classes with heavy content. According to Dembo and Seli (2013),
working memory is limited in capacity and duration. This is represented in the way that students
are having issues applying the knowledge on exam essays, because they can t apply knowledge that
they didn t effectively learn when their working memory was taxed.
The second potential cause of learning challenge for this scenario is that there is ineffective
instructional design taking place on the part of the instructor. As the scenario relates, students having
trouble with the literature review final, because they don t have experience with completing this
type of assignment. As we learned from Smith and Ragan (2005), as cited in the Unit 3 lecture,
effective instructional design takes into account the development level of students, as well as
specific prior knowledge. Having students complete an assignment that they don t know how to do
then, is poor instructional design. According to the Kirschner (2009) article also presented in the
Unit 3 lecture, this is extraneous cognitive load and does not contribute to learning.
b.Since the cognitive load is intrinsic to the task (the description states that the content is heavy
and the essay is a complex task), readings could be split

Leadership Styles Of The Leadership
Leadership has been around for many years yet, still unable to contain it in a particular definition
everyone agree on. There are numerous effective leadership styles used in the organization to
achieve their goals. Leadership is becoming increasingly recognized as a crucial issue for
organizations facing change in a complex and volatile environment. (Higgs 2009, p. 165) The
leader is the person who can guide and inspire others to do things according to their needs with the
success of the group as a goal. Leadershipmay be considered as the process of influencing the
activities of an organized group in its efforts toward goal setting and goal achievement. (Stogdill
1950, p. 3) If the team led by powerful leader, it is most likely that the team will be able to meet the
goals as well as their purpose and success.
Participative Leadership
The participative leadership is the management style that invited information from member s
decisions. It is a method of leadership that involves all team members in terms of identifying
important goals as well as developing the approaches and processes to achieve the objective.
From this view, this style of leadership allowed leader to work closely with other team members
focusing on building relationships and harmony. This type of leadership worked very well
towards group work as this allowing team to support in the process of making decision to provide

The Earth Is A System Response To The Climate Of The Earth
The climate of our planet is a system response to the geography, biosphere, anthropogenic activities
and occasional/cyclic geological/astronomical events.
Owing to the gigantic nature of the system, the Earth has a slow response time and manifests
differently in different parts of the world. And the spatial and temporal changes are miniscule,
making it difficult to comprehend the severity for an uniniated person, since these changes can be
easily lost in the noise of interannual variability. In this context, uninitiated include every person
who doesn t actively pursue information from peer reviewed and scientifically consistent sources.
For this reason, a clear and concise message needs to be sent to the uninitiated to make them ...

How To Write An Essay About The Discovery Of The Sea
When he got to his console and surveyed the data he gasped at the magnitude of life it had found.
A thirty thousand feet below was a multitude of flying beasts that seemed to cover the waters as a
blanket would cover a newborn. These animals ranged in size from fist to ship size. This discovery
was awesomely unexpected. He watched as they soared almost effortlessly among the thermals,
randomly dove into the ocean and reappeared moments later mouths full of wriggling sea life.
Sitting down he did a more in depth scan and found the ocean teeming with small fish just below
the surface with larger aquatics further down. Descending slowly through the thick atmosphere the

The Acceptance of Homosexuality in South Africa Essay
The Acceptance of Homosexuality in South Africa
For hundreds of years South Africa has endured a constant power struggle, oppression under the
apartheid government, the AIDS epidemic and homophobia. Internationally there are currently four
countries that permit same sex marriages, which include the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium and
Canada. Even though homosexuality remains largely taboo in South Africa, the country is taking
steps towards overall equality and improved human rights allowing such unions to take place where
this lifestyle was once forbidden.
In modern day Africa homosexuality is illegal for gay men in 29 countries and for lesbians in 20
countries making homophobia a widespread epidemic. This legal status of homosexuals in ... Show

This same visibility is seen today in the United States growing more and more. You can see same
sex coupes holding hands in public and displaying the rainbow flag in plain view to show their

The increasing visibility of same sex couples and the increased visibility of homosexuality did not
necessarily mean more gay men and women were coming out. For an African coming out is a
continual process because it involves additional cultural and social factors that play a major role.
The process is more difficult because the African family structure in much more connected than that
in the United States. If something affects one person in a family it affects everyone. Coming out
deals with homophobic churches, strong family foundations and ties that emphasize
heterosexuality, and the overall negative connotation associated with the GLBT community.
In the African community your stance on homosexuality is influenced by the church, you either do
not talk about it or you condemn it completely. In 2004 Africa s Anglican archbishops vowed not to
accept any donations from Western churches that support the ordination of gay priests. Even though
most churches in Africa depend on this funding from the West they continue to deny assistance. To

The Contingency Theory Of Leadership
Introduction
The term leadership can be significantly defined as expressed as the overall process through which
a respective individual influences and provides the right kind of support to others for the purpose
of accomplishing a common objective, goal or task. The leadership theories can be said to the
significant assumptions that significantly help in distinguishing the overall characteristics of any
respective leader (Timpe, 2007). The leadership theories extensively focus on various specific
qualities of a leader which includes knowledge and levels and skills that separates the respective
leader from his or her followers. There exists various kinds of leadership theories but amongst them
great man theory, trait theory, situational leadership theory,, behavioral leadership theory,
contingency leadership theory, transformational leadership theory and transactional leadership

extensively hard to evaluate how a respective individual can significantly reflect upon his or her
own style of leadership. The contingency leadership theory is not considered to be a process of
development of leadership. It has been observed that the contingency leadership theory fails to
blend with a leader s career growth. If the respective leader fails to change or adapt his respective

Examples Of Stereotypes In Romeo And Juliet
The play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is a love story that is tragic from the start.
From the love between the two main characters, Romeo and Juliet, being forbidden, to their
tragic deaths in the end, Romeo and Juliet certainly defies many stereotypes. The areas of the
play where these stereotypes are broken/not met are where Romeo does not fit into the role of a
man due to his being extremely sensitive at the beginning of the play, the fact that Romeo does
not initiate his marriage to Juliet, and at the end, where Romeo kills himself because he believes
that Juliet is no longer alive. In Romeo and Juliet, the gender roles that are placed upon males
are not met with the character Romeo. At the beginning of the play, Romeo is upset about
Rosaline, the girl who he likes, not liking him back. His being upset is especially prominent
when Romeo makes his first appearance in the play towards the end of Act I, Scene I. In this
scene, Lady Monatgue, Romeos mother, is voicing her concern about her son being so
depressed. His cousin, Benvolio sees him coming towards where the rest of his family is
standing, and says that he will talk to Romeo. Benvolio is able to get it out of his cousin that he
is upset because a girl does not like him back. Romeo talks about the darkness, which is a symbol
for sadness and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Generally, suicides that happen following the death of a significant other are shown as the
woman in the relationship killing herself. Although in Romeo and Juliet, Juliet did end up
killing herself, Romeo kills himself first. Romeo is defying gender roles by ending his life for
Juliet, because he is allowing himself to be the weaker one in his relationship. This is the part of
the play where those who are reading it or watching it be performed realize that Romeo does not
fit into his gender stereotype of making girls swoon over

Nursing Students As A Nurse
Question In nursing schools around the world, nursing students, in particular, are known for
being pushed to the brink. It s a simple technique, considering that you re preparing them for
careers where they are on their toes day in and day out, catering to the needs and well being of
others all the while managing the high demand of a post secondary education. Sure, we all have
deadlines and things to do in a day, but are we pushing them too far? Are nursing students
becoming too stressed? Why? And how do we fix this? Or are we just weeding out those that
can t handle the stress and are not prepared to handle a career as a nurse? Rationale This is an
important question in our society as the world is gradually needing more and more nurses
present in hospitals, emergency crews and long term care facilities. Not everyone, though they
think that they are able, can handle the stressful day to day challenges of being a nursing student
and, eventually, a nurse. As described in our online class, biological stress is a physiological
reaction to stressful events. For many students, especially around the months of November and
December, as well as March and April, the amount of homework begins to pile up as midterms
come to an end, and, final exams grow closer and closer. As such, our brain perceives the
accumulation of essays, final exams and deadlines as stressors. I believe that this is an important
question to answer as though there are stressors in the everyday working lives

Legalizing Abortion Pros
Providing abortions by trained professionals reduces the number of women who die due to unsafe
abortions. Out of all medical procedures in the US, abortions are the safest when done by a trained
professional in within the first trimester of pregnancy. They re only dangerous when performed by
an untrained professional. Unsafe abortions leads to the deaths of more than 47,000 women.
Legalizing abortions reduces the number of abortionrelated deaths: The legalization of abortion on
request in South Africa in 1998 saw abortion related deaths drop by 91% (Singer). If access to
clinics that provide abortions is restricted, more women will seek help from providers that aren t
reliable which can lead to more deaths. We can prevent more accidents from occurring if more
clinics are open for people. Not only do more safe clinics allow people have safer abortions, but
also other aspects of healthcare. Funding clinics that provide abortions also helps fund other
healthcare services. Planned Parenthood is the most commonly known clinic that provides

The parties to the contract must have intended to enter legally binding relations, this is defined as
the intention to enter a legally binding agreement or contract. If the parties do not intend to enter a

Deductive Approach In Research Approach
Research Approach
Every researcher adopts a specific approach for his research study, which is very important step
in every research. There are mainly two research approaches, inductive and deductive by looking
to the research onion of Saunders et al (2009, p. 108). In inductive approach, researchers use their
findings for the generation of theory. Theory is a term which can be use in different ways and in
qualitative research researcher use this term about the explanation of observations. Inductive
approach allows the researcher in previous literature and finds the new research question, where he
comes up with the new theory after the analyzing. While deductive studies, use theory deductively
and places it in the very beginning of the study. With the objective of testing or verifying a theory
rather than developing it, state hypothesis and collects data to test it. Reflect on the confirmation
or disconfirmation of the theory by the results (Creswell, 2009, p. 10 14) and our choice for

to feel sorrow for the poor mouse. In To a Mouse by Robert Burns, the ongoing themes are guilt
and fear. Burns knows what mice are up to, stealing his food from his crops and ruining his walls

Volkswagen dirties it s hands in emissions scandal
A car is spewing deadly carbon dioxide, forty times more than the car next to you. Piling onto many
recent scandals in Europe, Germany s Volkswagen has cheated emissions tests. The scandal has
sparked enormous stifle across the world and turmoil in the company. The Volkswagencompany
started when Adolf Hitler gave the order to have the small middle class car to be produced. VW
produced the Beetle in the 1930s to much of Germany s population. After the end of the third
Reich, Volkswagen spread and became a large job creator in Germany as well as an international
brand (Morning Edition). Volkswagen prioritization of the European market, led them to bet their
future on green tech chips and diesel engines. This is in contrary to the moves of many other car
makers, who are pursuing electric cars in the American market. The American market thought of
diesel engines as secondary and insignificant (Ziegler). The Environmental Protection Agency s
Tier ii emissions standards had high bars for diesel emissions that would be extremely difficult to
reach. There was a heavy burden for Volkswagen s engineers to create a quantum leap in the diesel

Characteristics Of An Oligopoly
It s called an oligopoly. It s not a regular market... It s a market in which they control the prices and
they ve been doing it for years.
Richard Miller
The quote above explains the characteristics of an oligopoly in comparison to other market
structures. Miller suggests the nature of the market is uncommon and that prices are rigid.
The hypothesis mentioned in the introduction supports this assumption on the real estate market in
Hanoi. However, it can be questioned whether the real estate market is an oligopoly.
2.1Market structure
In economics, a market structure refers to the characteristics of a market that influence the behavior
of firms within an industry. These include number of firms, market power, level and forms of
competition, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In oligopoly, industries are dominated by a small number of large firms, though in any one
industry the firms are likely to vary in size. The concentration ratios of these firms tend to be fairly
high. This means that, for example, the largest four firms in the industry accounts for 70% of the
market share. The implication of this is that firms in oligopoly are interdependent. The actions of
one firm will directly affect the others. Each of the large firms in the industry has to try and predict
the actions of the others. They may collude to avoid this.
2.2.3High barriers to entry/exit
Barriers to entry are high. Oligopolies often maintain their position of dominance in a market
because other potential rivals are unable to enter the industry. The hurdles that prevent other firms
from entering the industry are called barriers to entry. These barriers could include government
licenses, economies of scale, patents and access to technology. In addition, many established
oligopolies spend enormous sums on product differentiation and advertising, making it difficult for
new firms to match such expenditures. High barriers to entry allow firms to make economic profits
in the long run.

Windows Xp Architecture Vs. Mac Os X Architecture Essay...
Windows XP vs. Mac OS X Architecture
When looking at the interface of the Mac OS X Operating System and the Microsoft Windows XP
operating system many similarities can be seen. The most obvious is the use of blue in the
interface. In the core of the systems they both have a micro kernel which addresses thread
management, space management and other communications at the system level and is more
resistant to attacks from a virus.
Mac OS X is a powerful development platform; it supports multiple development technologies like
UNIX, Java, Cocoa and Carbon. It also is host to many open source, web, scripting, database and
development technologies. It was build around the integrated stack of graphics and media

Among the Aqua user interface, Apple also built in Pre emptive multitasking and memory
protection to improve the ability of the operating system to run multiple applications simultaneously
without interrupting or corrupting each other. The system can also determine how much RAM
should be used for each running application and it can also determine how much of the processor
needs to be devoted to the running applications. For example if a picture is being rendered in
Photoshop in the background and a user is surfing the web in the foreground, the system will
automatically put more of the processors power to the Photoshop application to get the requested
job done.
Apple also wants as many developers as it can get for the Operating System; therefore they have
created development tools that are included with every copy of the system. One of the most
notable programs that is included is called Xcode. Xcode provides interfaces to compilers that
support several programming languages such as C, C++ and Java. Because Apple is also in a
transition from the PowerPC RISC processor to the Intel X86 processor the Xcode application can
compile code for either or both processors, making the compiled application a Universal Binary

Kpop Monologue
I m pretty sure every k popper has a story of how they got into k pop. Some of them probably are
incredibly dull and more boring than watching grass grow, but they still are technically stories. This
is mine. (I hope it s not dull. Meh.)
Oddly enough, as much as I hate it now, Gangnam Style by Psy was in fact my first exposure to K
pop. I was...12 I think? I remember my older friends doing this weird looking horse dance I was
curious so I watched the music video. And down the rabbit hole I went...
The first time I watched that music video, I thought What the hell did I watch? (Well, I said the

songs, and I wasn t planning to leave. But then I got dragged out of that zone and I discovered k
rock (Not the radio station, for some reason whenever I use that term people think I m talking
about a radio station.), k rap, the slightly less innocent and sweet side of k pop, and the
EXTREMELY less innocent and sweet side of k pop. But by then, I was older and somewhat more
mature so I didn t flinch at the less family friendly stuff.
Now we jump to me as a k popper in the present day. I still love the cutesy and adorable videos and
groups, but now there is a place in my heart for rap groups and songs. I m still incredibly in love
with k pop, and I will continue to try and pull people into this fandom of mine so that I will have
one more person to scream with. (Don t misinterpret

Reptile Dreams By Dave Barry
Rhetorical devices are used by writers to have an effect on its audience, they use words in
specific ways to convey meaning. In the book The Presence of Others they introduce two essays
that deal with identity, Guys vs Men and Reptile Dreams (Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz). In the
essay by Dave Barry Guys vs Men he uses several rhetorical devices to describe what he believes,
is the difference between guys and men (405). One rhetorical device Barry uses is tone. He
creates a humorous tone to get his message across to readers; his message is that people should
relax and not take things so seriously. In contrast, in Keith Bradsher s Reptile Dreams, Bradsher
creates a morose tone to express his opinion on what vehicles say about a person s identity (471).
While the two authors are telling very different stories, both use some of the same rhetorical
devices to convey their feelings. Dave Barry s Guy vs. Men and Keith Bradsher s Reptile Dreams
both use rhetorical devices of tone, anecdote, and hyperbole to influence the reader. Barry uses a
humorous tone as a rhetorical device throughout his essay. He uses jokes and sarcasm to persuade...

not meant to be taken literally; while the road can be dangerous, it is certainly not a battlefield
and SUVs are not as powerful as armored cars (474). Bradsher also quotes Rapaille when he says
the idea of being civil on the road is over, ...for some people...it s a jungle out there and you re not

THE EFFECTS OF AMMONIA AND VINEGAR ON RADISH PLANTS 2
Abstract
INTRODUCTION OF GROUP Plants are one of the most complex organisms; how they grow is
very complex and it is important to see how they grow to even how they die. We first had to
propose a question and test it to see if it was profound enough to test. Our group decided to see how
different chemical substances affect radish plants, and which substance will kill the plant fastest.
We planted 8 germinated radish seeds, then put ammonia in 2 of the plants, vinegar in 2 other plants,
put both vinegar and ammonia in 2 other plants, and had the ... Show more content on

Vinegar is also used in diet control because several doses can provide feeling of fullness and
satisfaction. It is also an effective screening tool for cervical cancer because vinegar changes the
color of the tissue that is infected to a color of white so it can be easily noticed. Vinegar is also a
cleaning agent because of its acidic property it can dissolve mineral deposits from glass. Vinegar is
a very useful chemical substance but at the same time a very acidic and corrosive compound
(Harris, 2011).

Methods
The group planted a total of 8 separate pots of seeds. Two pots consisted of only seeds and those
were the control group of this experiment. The other plants also consisted of radish seeds but had
chemicals ammonia, vinegar, or a combination of both applied once weekly with 30ml of water
being applied daily (except on the weekends). As a result, there were a total of 8 pots. Two of
each variable and two of the controls. Right after all the seeds were germinated in petri dishes they
were put into pots, covered with soil, and labeled to prevent confusion.

Animal Farm And George Orwell By George Orwell
Eric Arthur Blair, under the pseudonym of George Orwell, composed many novels in his lifetime
that were considered both politically rebellious and socially incorrect. Working on the dream since
childhood, Orwell would finally gain notoriety as an author with his 1945 novel Animal Farm,
which drew on personal experiences and deeply rooted fear to satirically critique Russian
communismduring its expansion. Noticing the impact he made, he next took to writing the novel
1984, which similarly criticized totalitarianismby depicting an overwhelmingly melancholy
dystopian society. 1984 achieved similar success and opened the public s eyes to the dangers of the
spread of despotic regimes throughout the world. By examining both Animal Farm and... Show

He was indicted for treason and forced to flee the country, and it left him with a hatred and fear
towards the communists that he would harbor for the remainder of his life. Armed with literary
ammunition from these experiences, Orwell set out to shed light on the dangers of this type of
all powerful governance in 1984. This he did mainly by setting up the character Winston Smith
to mirror himself and his own views as much as possible. Both Orwell and Smith were political
rebels, propagandists, free love advocates, and individuals in every sense of the word. He
juxtaposed this individualistic character against the oppressiveness of the Party regime for the
purpose of highlighting the unjust tyrannical behavior of the totalitarian government. When he
writes the two aims of the Party are to conquer the whole surface of the earth and to extinguish
once and for all the possibility of independent thought it is clear that he is issuing a warning about
totalitarianism that stems from nothing less than his own personal beliefs and involvements
[1984 193]. The novel altogether follows a similar theme of warning and by taking a closer look
into Orwell s personal biography it makes it clear where these fervent beliefs emanate from.
Furthermore, Animal Farm, written in 1945, explores similar topics and themes as 1984 and acts
as a sort of precursor to the novel. Notably, Animal Farm sheds further light on the dangers of

Historical Development Of Fair Value Measurement
Fair value measurement is one of the models which provide guidance on how entities should
determine the fair value of financial instruments for reporting purposes. This paper discusses the
Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) Exposure Draft issued on December 3, 2015 which
proposed amendments to Fair ValueMeasurement (Topic 820): Disclosure Framework Changes to
the Disclosure Requirements. The paper analyzes some of the key points of the exposure draft,
among other things, the history and development the concept of fair value management, the
necessity of the amendments to the topic, the provisions and conceptual framework of the fair
value measurement. The paper also compares and contrasts the FASB Topic 820 formerly known as
to the International Accounting Standards (ISA) No. 13 of the International Financial Reporting
(IFRS). Finally, the paper concludes on the response to the exposure draft.
Keywords: Fair value measurement, FASB Topic 820, IAS No. 13
Historical development of Fair Value Measurement Fair value measurement has been argued to be
one of the most controversial areas in accounting. Although not a new concept many accounting
professionals have only in the past two decades warmed up to the theory as a means of replacing the
long standing historical cost approach applied to reporting of financial statement. This deviates
from centuries of traditional application of historical cost. It is maintained in literature that fair

Examples Of Honey Baby Sweetheart
Deb Caletti said in, Honey, Baby, Sweetheart I was like a chocolate in a box, looking well
behaved and perfect in place, all the while harboring a secret center. Facades are used in
everyday life all around you, but you never notice them. A prime example is my best friend. She
acts rambunctious and like her friends when she is around them. She basically abandons the way
she was raised to fit in and be popular. When she gets around her family she is the angel they
raised. Facades are the worst lies because they can be very easily shattered, are destructive, and can
wrongfully take an opportunity from another.
Like glass, facades can be very easily broken with even the smallest of fractures. An example of a
small fracture can be changing the way you speak or the way you dress. People pick up on the
smallest differences even the slightest things. After that small fracture come the shatter. Which
brings on an abundance more to deal with and clean up. After the shatter comes the hurt of others.
Facades are easily believed therefore when people see it was a lie they feel betrayed. Now that the
façade is shattered along with the trust of betrayed the mess is left to be cleaned up. As an
example of trying to clean up the mess author Stephanie Ericsson says in the essay The Ways We
Lie ...I saw less than a hundred bucks. ...I confronted him, he raised both eyebrows and tried to

No Child Left Behind Was An Act Of Congress Proposed By...
No Child Left Behind was an act of Congress proposed by President Bush January 23, 2001. The
bill was coauthored by the following representatives: John Boehner (R OH), George Miller (D
CA), and Senators Edward Kennedy (D MA) and Judd Gregg (R NH). The purpose of this bill was
to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary EducationAct which included Title 1, a program for
disadvantaged youth. To receive federal funding schools must measure students using standardized
assessments in particular grades. Each state has developed its own standard for how a student must
perform on a given assessment. Before No Child Left Behind states took in billions of dollars for
educational funding and were not held accountable for the funds allocated to them.
Disadvantaged youth were written off as unable to be taught and they were pushed through the
system receiving little to no education. Parents were denied the ability to know if their students
were receiving quality education. Some speculate people against educational reform have
incorrectly claimed that NCLB is an unfunded mandate. Brian Riedl of the Heritage Foundation
noted, NCLB is neither unfunded nor a mandate. States are not obligated to accept funds in federal
education aid NCLB offers. If a state wishes to not be held accountable for improving student
achievement, or that prefer to do things a different way, they can simply decline the money.

Kingdom Of God Research Paper
What is the meaning of the term kingdom of God?
The Kingdom of God is one of the key components of the teachings of Jesus in the New Testament.
Drawing on Old Testament teachings, the Christian characterization of the relationship in the
middle of God and humankind innately includes the thought of the Kingship of God. The Old
Testament alludes to God as the Judge of all and the idea that all people will in the long run be
judged is a key component of Christian teachings.
What are the traditional facts about God?
God is regularly considered as the Supreme Being and essential object of faith. He is the maker
and sustainer of the universe, while in deism, He is the inventor, however not the sustainer, of the
universe. Monotheism is the confidence in the presence of one God or in the unity of Him. In
polytheism, He is the universe itself. In godlessness, He is indicated not to exist, while esteemed
obscure or mysterious inside the connection of skepticism. He has additionally been considered as
being spiritual, an individual being, the wellspring of all ethical commitment, and the best possible
existent . Numerous prominent medieval thinkers and cutting edge scholars have created
contentions for and against the presence of God.

Siddhartha-the Shape of Time Essay
For many Westerners, more specifically the driven citizens of the United States of America,
time is viewed as a straight line. Our children realize this, consciously or not, early on. They
make timelines in school, their classes switch on the hour, their intelligence is measured on a
scale. We are born, we come of age during adolescence. We set a goal, we work to achieve
success. Birth and death, childhood and adulthood are stages that occur only once. Life is black
and white. Separate. The past is the past, the future is the future. Traveling on a straight line, we
can only look forwards.
Eastern philosophy, on the other hand, might view time as a circle, a spiral, a figure eight. Time has

It was this idea that Hesse built Siddhartha on. It was this idea that allowed Siddhartha to be
reincarnated not in terms of physical life, but rather in terms of spirit.
Lao Tzu, credited with penning the Tao Te Ching, noted that a good traveler has no fixed plans/and
is not intent on arriving. Thus, he rejected the linear concept of time, as did Siddhartha as he made
his journey.
The book opens with the title character s decision to leave his traditional Hindu community and
upbringing to seek Atman through asceticism. Siddhartha and his friend, Govinda, adopt the life of
the Samanas. Siddhartha thinks, waits, and fasts. He struggles to free himself from The Self: the
materialistic, mortal part of him. But he is anxious to attain a state of bliss. As a young Brahmin,
he was always the strongest, the cleverest, the fastest. He expects to find the most efficient way to
Atman, just as he excelled in every other area of his life. The ascetic life disappoints him.
Siddhartha replied: `How old, do you think, is our oldest Samana, our worthy teacher?
Govinda said: `I think the eldest would be about sixty years old.
And Siddhartha said: `He is sixty years old and has not attained Nirvana. He will be seventy and
eighty years old, and you and I, we shall grow as old as he, and do exercises and fast

  • 2. Economic Viability Of The Slave Trade System How Did Economic Viability of The Slave Trade System in relation to The Productivity of Slave Agriculture Change over Time? The transatlantic slave trade which took place during the mid seventeenth century until the late eighteenth century is observed as one of the largest forced migrations (Lewis, et Al., 2009, 2). The discovery of the America s pursued by European nations led to the uncovering of significant luxury goods and precious metals such as sugar, coffee, and gold (Eltis, 2008, 1). The slave trade resulted in African slaves that were trafficked from Africa to the America s to be used as labor supply to mass produce these goods on plantations set up along the coast. These luxury products in its primary form were produced at these plantations and were transported back to Europe to satisfy the high demand for luxury goods (Eltis, 2008, 4). Over the period where the transatlantic slave trade was active, the relationship between the economic viability of the slave trade system and the agricultural productivity of slaves offset each other and move with each other. The research presented has demonstrated that mortality rates of slaves and transportation costs affected the economic viability to sustain the slave trade which would then affect agricultural slave productivity on the plantations within the Caribbean. What has been examined throughout the research findings conveys the idea that in the beginning of the slave trade, high transportation costs and high mortality ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

North Korea forces invaded South Korea in 1950 because, at that time both government want to unite these two states (Wikipedia, List of border incidents involving North Korea, 2015). The Korean War began as a civil war between North and South Korea, but the conflict soon became international when, under U.S leadership, the United Nations joined to support South Korea and the People s Republic of China (PRC) entered to aid North Korea. The Korea war ends when a ceasefire agreement is signed in July 1953 (Wikipedia, Ceasefire, 2015). Moreover, we may see the differences of North and South Korea about political system, their main supporters, their power problem, their economies and they have a lot of conflicts. Last October Kim Jong UN visited to South Korea s unification minister in Seoul, but there was no improvement between them (Tube, 2015), and we can see recent conflicts in August. That mean there has still tension between two nations. Another one is Kim Jong UN may not open his power, as I mention above he does not want to share his power. We can see clearly he executive his only uncle and his top adviser because those two men can make challenges to his powers. And, economic is another big reason that may not be unification. A reporter said that South Korea has to use a lot of money to unify. Moreover, china is the main supporter of North Korea and US is the main supporter of South Korea. So as long as they are competition each other, it will hard to get reunite between north and South ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Studying is the interpretation of reading materials. Study habits and skills are particularly important for college students, whose needs include time management, note taking, Internet skill, the elimination of distractions, and assigning a high priority to study. . Marcus CredГ© and Nathan R. Kuncel (2008) in their research at the University of Albany said that Study habit, skill, and attitude inventories and constructs were found to rival standardized tests and previous grades as predictors of academic performance, yielding substantial incremental validity in predicting academic performance. The meta analysis examined the construct validity and predictive validity of 10 study skill constructs for college students. They found that study skill inventories and constructs are largely independent of both high school grades and scores on standardized admissions tests but moderately related to various personality constructs; these results were inconsistent with previous theories. Study motivation and study skills exhibit the strongest relationships with both grade point average and grades in individual classes. They also said that Academic specific anxiety was found to be an important negative predictor of performance. In addition, significant variation in the validity of specific inventories is shown. The Impact of New Materials on Product Deisng in 20th and 21st Centuries As new materials are developed and processed, design technologists and people working with industrial materials must think how these new materials will affect the way in which they design and manufacture products. Design technologists also have to be conscious of how these materials effect the environment and the way in which they are recycled. A wood based material such as chipboard is created by taking wood particles (flakes, chips and shavings) from all commercial timbers, bonded with synthetic phenolic resin. This type of wood is also a type of composite. Composite timber products have many advantages over ordinary timbers such as Oregon. They can utilise smaller dimensions of timber as the raw material, but can be manufactured to create large dimension composite beams and sheets, etc. Less timber overall is required to make products which are lighter and stronger than timber. Lower quantities and smaller sizes of timber means less pressure on native forest timber. Prices of imported timbers will continue to rise which will continue to make composites a more attractive proposition for builders and designers. The real disadvantage to manufactured wood based woods is the chemical fumes that it emits (M.D.F is a banned material in the U.S.A). Due to the resins used into making the wood once being cut at high speeds the dust can lead to intoxication of chemical fumes. The other major disadvantage is the non grain finish. Although M.D.F has a smooth finish and for some products this is ideal, other products are designed for a grain finish. Another material that has made a major impact in modern ... • 9. A Research Study On Mental Disorders Abstract People suffering from gender dysphoria, according to the most recent DSM 5(Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders), experience a discrepancy between the assign gender and the expressed one. Even though not every person experience the same degree, for many people who suffer from it the depression and anxiety is so overwhelming that they may need a gender reassignment surgery to feel a real sense of identity. A continued hormonal therapy together with surgery can offer an important solution for these individuals, minimizing tension between their sense of gender and their biology. In this research Paper I am going to be talking about this important, even ethical, topic. Mainly about what is its impact in people who suffer from it, its signs and symptoms, causes and possible treatments. Gender Dysphoria Formerly known as GID, gender dysphoria is a disorder (as DSM 5 classified it).Topic that has been really controversial for many transgender people, and even for some researchers. For that reason they reclassify it saying that gender dysphoria only applies to persons who experienced a discontent from gender identity issues. The term is defined by the felling of identification with the opposite gender and discomfort with the person anatomical sex. Gender and sex are not the same. The difference between them is explained that the sex is located in the abdomen and the genital area and gender identity in the brain. An individual with gender dysphoria can has ... • 10. Phantom Limbs, Phantom Pain, And The Essay Phantom Limbs, Phantom Pain, And The I Function The so called I function which describes the brain s sense of self takes on interesting connotations when discussing phantom limbs and associated phantom pain. The loss of an arm or leg through amputation is not an easy experience to endure, and is even more difficult when the patient begins to feel sensations in their now missing limb. These feelings, sometimes referred to as stump hallucination , is the subjective sensation, not arising from an external stimulus, that an amputated limb is still present (1). Although they no longer exist, patients perceive these limbs as still being essential components of their body image, and continues to move in sync with their torso and other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since there is no visual feedback, initiating motor intention does not activate proprioreceptors (4). Over time, phantom limbs are deemed by the amputee to be overflexed, which causes a cramping pain. The question that arises is, if the inconsistency between the intention of the brain and the perception of the body s actions was to be resolved, could the phantom pain also be eliminated? Several theories have been developed over the years that have attempted to answer this question, most notably by Ronald Melzack and Vilayanur Ramachandran. The earliest hypothesis regarding the cause of phantom limbs and pain was that of neuromas. These were thought to be nodules comprised of remaining nerves located at the end of the stump. These neuromas presumably continued to generate impulses that traveled up the spinal cord to portions of the thalamus and somatosensory domains of the cortex. As a result, treatment involved cutting the nerves just above the neuroma in an attempt to interrupt signaling at each somatosensory level (5). This and other related theories were deemed unsatisfactory because of the fact the phantom pain always returned, indicating that there was a more complex reason. Psychologist Ronald Melzack developed the concept of the neuromatrix and the neurosignature. This idea held that the brain contained a neuromatrix or a network of neurons that analyzed the sensory information and allowed the perception of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Importance Of Trauma In Children It pointed out that a child can sense a trauma very easily in another person even if that person is trying to cover it up. The article showed that kids who grow up with caregivers that are suffering from a trauma often feel that trauma for themselves, for example a parent exhibiting depression often times leads to a child feeling depression which is why I believe a person with a caregiver suffering from mental illness is more likely to suffer from that same illness. To me this explains statistics associated with susceptibility of children to have similar issues as their parents. Children also learn their coping mechanisms from their parents which can lead to the same types of problems. Another form of trauma that can very easily effect the ... In his transition period between getting his practice up and running and finishing his Master s, Mr. Rubino worked as a prison psychologist which he described as an eye opening experience to why exactly people commit crimes. He described his eye opening experience as a result of dealing with inmates. He initially detested many of the inmates due to the fact that many times that they would interact, they would try to steal things. In his prison experience he described that every single inmate he talked to had some sort of history of personal trauma. This made me think that trauma may be directly linked with criminal behavior. Mr. Rubino went on to tell me that one inmate in particular had the most positive demeanor and seemed to really have him self together compared to the group he was among in prison. Ranging from bridges field with civil engineering and medical field with biomechanical engineering to the oil industry with petroleum engineering, engineering is a vast field of opportunities. The buildings we work at, the cars we drive, the technology we use have all been made possible by the work of engineers. That is the main reason why I desire to be an engineer. I want to work in a field that I will be able to make a difference and have a job that am proud of and still enjoy. The first engineering class that I attended was quite surprising. My perception of engineering had always been of technical equations and solving complex issues. This class on the other hand introduced me to the work of Raymond B. Landis who wrote the book studying engineering. The book was a revelation to me as it articulated what aclass engineering student is a student who has mastered the tools of success, is confident and determined. After reading the book I realized that if I was going to be a successful engineer I had to adopt a new way in which I will use in the process of acquiring my degree in engineering. There are techniques and steps that are used by world class engineer in the process of acquiring a degree in engineering. Whether law enforcement should be required to give the Miranda warning upon requesting to search an individual without prior reasoning has caused much controversy in the past. One might think that a topic as simple as this one would have a simple solution; law enforcement should be required to give a warning similar to the Miranda warningupon request to search an individual, or an individual s property, without prior reasoning or warrant. The Miranda warning is typically issued when a warranted arrest is made, however, this does not alleviate the need for something similar to the Miranda warning in cases such as Florida v. Bostick in 1991. In this case, the US Supreme Court ruled that Policemay conduct random drug sweeps of local buses. Although the ruling also states that people had the right to... The absence of a warning similar to the Miranda warning, stating an individual s right to refuse search or interrogation by law enforcement is crude obstruction of personal liberty. It was settled upon that law enforcement could do so without advising the individual that they were free to leave preceding the demand to search the vehicle. In the short story, Interloper by Saki, the competition between the two main characters, Georg Znaeym and Ulrich Von Gradwitz, is rather intense. The two are on a life long quest, driven by their competitive spirit, to hunt the other down, even if it leads to their death. Saki illustrates their competitive spirit through their pride, hate for each other, and nature itself. First and foremost, throughout the story, Georg and Ulrich s competitive spirit was constantly illustrated through their pride in many various ways. One of the many ways was when Saki narrates, The feud might, perhaps, have died down or been compromised if the personal ill will of the two men had not stood in the way... (1). At any given moment, the feud could have been forgotten or even forgiven, but the two refused to let that happen. This gives reason to believe that the only reason why their fight persisted was partially due to their pride. Their pride mentally prohibited them from putting an end to the feud, thus depicting their competitive spirit.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 17. The First Potential Cause Of Learning Challenge For This... a.The first potential cause of learning challenge for this scenario is that students are experiencing high cognitive load. As the description of the scenario states, the students appear to be struggling because they are taking multiple classes with heavy content. According to Dembo and Seli (2013), working memory is limited in capacity and duration. This is represented in the way that students are having issues applying the knowledge on exam essays, because they can t apply knowledge that they didn t effectively learn when their working memory was taxed. The second potential cause of learning challenge for this scenario is that there is ineffective instructional design taking place on the part of the instructor. As the scenario relates, students having trouble with the literature review final, because they don t have experience with completing this type of assignment. As we learned from Smith and Ragan (2005), as cited in the Unit 3 lecture, effective instructional design takes into account the development level of students, as well as specific prior knowledge. Having students complete an assignment that they don t know how to do then, is poor instructional design. According to the Kirschner (2009) article also presented in the Unit 3 lecture, this is extraneous cognitive load and does not contribute to learning. b.Since the cognitive load is intrinsic to the task (the description states that the content is heavy and the essay is a complex task), readings could be split ... The areas of the play where these stereotypes are broken/not met are where Romeo does not fit into the role of a man due to his being extremely sensitive at the beginning of the play, the fact that Romeo does not initiate his marriage to Juliet, and at the end, where Romeo kills himself because he believes that Juliet is no longer alive. After the quake struck, the resulting tsunami radiated across the Indian Ocean, from Indonesia to Sri Lanka and beyond. Despite there being several hours between the earthquake and the impact of the tsunami, nearly all the victims were taken completely by surprise. With no adequate warning systems in place, there was no alert issued to people to seek safety. In the book nobody knew the tsunami was coming so this makes since there was no warning systems. This was true because everyone was shocked when they saw that the tsunami was coming. One thing that confused me was about and it was why nobody knew the tsunami was coming when they are in a tsunami zone by an ocean. There are mainly two research approaches, inductive and deductive by looking to the research onion of Saunders et al (2009, p. 108). In inductive approach, researchers use their findings for the generation of theory. Theory is a term which can be use in different ways and in qualitative research researcher use this term about the explanation of observations. Inductive approach allows the researcher in previous literature and finds the new research question, where he comes up with the new theory after the analyzing. While deductive studies, use theory deductively and places it in the very beginning of the study. Piling onto many recent scandals in Europe, Germany s Volkswagen has cheated emissions tests. The scandal has sparked enormous stifle across the world and turmoil in the company. The Volkswagencompany started when Adolf Hitler gave the order to have the small middle class car to be produced. VW produced the Beetle in the 1930s to much of Germany s population. After the end of the third Reich, Volkswagen spread and became a large job creator in Germany as well as an international brand (Morning Edition). Volkswagen prioritization of the European market, led them to bet their future on green tech chips and diesel engines. This is in contrary to the moves of many other car makers, who are pursuing electric cars in the American market. The American market thought of diesel engines as secondary and insignificant (Ziegler). The Environmental Protection Agency s Tier ii emissions standards had high bars for diesel emissions that would be extremely difficult to reach. There was a heavy burden for Volkswagen s engineers to create a quantum leap in the diesel engine in terms of emissions and fuel economy. To cut these emissions Volkswagen would need to use an effective but bulky and expensive system in its cars. However cheating the emissions tests would be fairly easy due to the lack of ... The hypothesis mentioned in the introduction supports this assumption on the real estate market in Hanoi. The concentration ratios of these firms tend to be fairly high. This means that, for example, the largest four firms in the industry accounts for 70% of the market share. The implication of this is that firms in oligopoly are interdependent. The actions of one firm will directly affect the others. Each of the large firms in the industry has to try and predict the actions of the others. They may collude to avoid this. 2.2.3High barriers to entry/exit Barriers to entry are high. Oligopolies often maintain their position of dominance in a market because other potential rivals are unable to enter the industry. The hurdles that prevent other firms from entering the industry are called barriers to entry. These barriers could include government licenses, economies of scale, patents and access to technology. Working on the dream since childhood, Orwell would finally gain notoriety as an author with his 1945 novel Animal Farm, which drew on personal experiences and deeply rooted fear to satirically critique Russian communismduring its expansion. Noticing the impact he made, he next took to writing the novel 1984, which similarly criticized totalitarianismby depicting an overwhelmingly melancholy dystopian society. 1984 achieved similar success and opened the public s eyes to the dangers of the spread of despotic regimes throughout the world. He was indicted for treason and forced to flee the country, and it left him with a hatred and fear towards the communists that he would harbor for the remainder of his life. Armed with literary ammunition from these experiences, Orwell set out to shed light on the dangers of this type of all powerful governance in 1984. This he did mainly by setting up the character Winston Smith to mirror himself and his own views as much as possible. Both Orwell and Smith were political rebels, propagandists, free love advocates, and individuals in every sense of the word. He juxtaposed this individualistic character against the oppressiveness of the Party regime for the purpose of highlighting the unjust tyrannical behavior of the totalitarian government. When he writes the two aims of the Party are to conquer the whole surface of the earth and to extinguish once and for all the possibility of independent thought it is clear that he is issuing a warning about totalitarianism that stems from nothing less than his own personal beliefs and involvements [1984 193]. The novel altogether follows a similar theme of warning and by taking a closer look into Orwell s personal biography it makes it clear where these fervent beliefs emanate from. Furthermore, Animal Farm, written in 1945, explores similar topics and themes as 1984 and acts as a sort of precursor to the novel. Notably, Animal Farm sheds further light on the dangers of ... Examples Of Honey Baby Sweetheart Deb Caletti said in, Honey, Baby, Sweetheart I was like a chocolate in a box, looking well behaved and perfect in place, all the while harboring a secret center. Facades are used in everyday life all around you, but you never notice them. A prime example is my best friend. She acts rambunctious and like her friends when she is around them. She basically abandons the way she was raised to fit in and be popular. When she gets around her family she is the angel they raised. Facades are the worst lies because they can be very easily shattered, are destructive, and can wrongfully take an opportunity from another. Like glass, facades can be very easily broken with even the smallest of fractures. An example of a small fracture can be changing the way you speak or the way you dress. The purpose of this bill was to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary EducationAct which included Title 1, a program for disadvantaged youth.
