Colonialism put a significant burden on colonies and once these territories were
decolonized, they were no longer self sufficient. Even after these territories regained
their autonomy, they were still left to struggle after being exploited for decades. To
begin, the French and British colonized Africa and left these territories to pay for
operations the French and British implemented, such as military, private services to
whites , and further education. These territories had very little to begin with because
of slavery, so massive debts were accumulated. For instance, Senegal, as mentioned
earlier, was colonized by France in the nineteenth century. It, along with other
colonies along the west African coast, were exploited for their resources and were
left to pay for the damages after not only World Wars I and II, but also from in
country fighting as well. Siji Jabbar, author of How France loots its former colonies
says, France organized its colonies in a system of compulsory solidarity which
consisted of obliging the states to put 65% of their foreign currency reserves into the
French Treasury, plus 20% for liabilities. This means these countries only ever have

permit the occurrence of physical slavery, but colonies were looted and forced to sign

I m sure everyone, at least once in their life, has found themselves in a situation,
deciding on whether they should drive or opt to take a public transit. Like many

which method of transportation is truly the best choice. Naturally, most people are
constantly looking for the smartest and cheapest option as well as the most popular
option, but that isn t always the easiest decision. Some factors such as cost,

The Jacksonville Axemen is a semi professional rugby league team that competes
in the summer, out of the University of North Florida s Hodges Stadium. The
Axemen are one of fourteen teams that compete in the USA Rugby League,
USARL. It is a small organization with a staff of seven that saw its beginning in
2006, and has been one of the most competitive teams in its league. Based on my
research of the organization, I could not determine any policies that the
organization actually had in place. This is in part due to the small nature of the
staff so they do not have an employee handbook that would contain policies

Miracle is a biographical sports film that was made in 2004, the movie tells the
story about the 1980 United States men s hockey team which was coached by Herb
Brooks and won the gold medal in the 1980 olympic games. One of the wins was
against the powerhouse, Soviet Union in the medal round. The Soviets had won the
past 6 winter Olympics in hockey which is why the victory is called The miracle on
ice.
Herb Brooks at the time was the head coach at the University of Minnesota. He is
interviewed by the United States Olympic committee in Colorado Springs. He is
chosen for the job and holds tryouts for the roster. There is 26 spots on the roster
but Herb Brooks only takes 20 and after only one day of tryouts. Most of the
players are from the University of Minnesota and Boston University, a college
hockey rivalry. The first day of practice, a couple of players get in a fist fight about
the rivalry. Coach Brooks asked the players to tell their name, hometown and who
they play for. The team travels to Norway for a game which ended in a 3 3 draw,
Brooks heard his players talking about a blonde girl in the stands. He then made
his players skate across the ice many times and for hours after the game. The

Throughout Tuck Everlasting, by Natalie Babbitt, there were many examples of
how making the right choice isn t always easy. One example is when Winnie told
Jesse that she wants to help the Tucks with the escape plan of Mae from the
gallows. Even though Winnie knew that she ll get in trouble for going out in the
middle of the night, she still took the risk. Another example is when Miles knew
about the spring water, but didn t bring his family to the spring. He made a sacrifice
for the Tucks, keeping the secret safe from anyone else. The last example is when
Mae killed the man in the yellow suit when he was trying to take away Winnie. Even
though Mae knew about the consequences, she still did it in order to protect Winnie.

wasn t easy for them, some had to sacrifice a lot of things. One of the characters is
Winnie, on page 114 it states, I can help! When your mother climbs out of the
window, I ll climb in and take her place. I can wrap myself up in her blanket, and
when the constable looks in, he won t be able to tell the difference. Not in the dark.
