Analysis On Key Value Stores Essay
Analysis on Key Value Stores
Introduction
We have come into the era of Big Data. As (Atikoglu, Xu, Frachtenberg, Jiang,
Paleczny, 2012) stated, the need for efficiently storing large scale data in scale out
companies at lower cost is dramatically increasing. Therefore Key Value Store has
occurred in popularity. (Fitzpatrick, 2004) has clarified that KV stores plays an
essential role in lots of huge websites such as Facebook, Twitter, GitHub and
Amazon. This paper reviewed 6 popular key value stores and distinguished primary
features, performance and availability of each. The six systems are Hyperdex,
Dynamo, SILT, Project Voldemort used by LinkedIn, Berkeley DB and LevelDB
used by Google.
A key value store database has a set of keys and values, and each value is associated
with a key. The implementation of key value store database is actually a distributed
hash table (Stonebraker, 04/2010). Key Value Stores(KV), which are normally
known as a model of NoSQL databases, are widely deployed for data operation and
management in purpose of enhancing Internet services due to better scalability,
higher efficiency and more availability than existing relational databases systems
(Wang, et al., 2014). Because KV stores sacrifice relation model in exchange for fast
writing, and they are often featured with simple methods like put() , delete() and get()
.
LevelDB
LevelDB is a very lightweight, simple key value store with limited operational
abilities. LevelDB will store data in
The Amish Religion
The Amish was a group of traditional Christian Church fellowships. They were known
as the simple living, plain drees and unwilling to embrace the convenience of the
modern technology. They started a small group of reform minded Mennonites in the
Switzerland when they separated from the main movement. Based on the article, The
Amishwas lived in Rhine River. Jacob founded the Amish Movement in the year
1644. Jacob felt that the Mennonites had driven away their original beliefs and
practices. That the Mennonites does not have any disciplines. He wanted them to
return to a stricter observance of the writings of Simons and on the 1632 Mennonite
Dordrecht Confession. The started to do the communion twice a year instead of once
in a year. The Believers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Jeff Bezos looked out the open doorway of his office and stared at the problem of
the day, which his assistant Sarah had posted on the whiteboard in the hallway. It
was Friday, September 13, 2002, and the whiteboard read: You have 10 bottles with
100 pills each in them. In nine of the bottles, each pill weighs 10 mg. In one bottle,
each pill weighs 9 mg. These pills are poisonous. You have a digital scale that reads

The reaction to Amazon s marketplace initiative in the financial markets had been
generally positive. Indeed, Amazon s stock was up 52% for the year (as of mid
September 2002) versus a 35% drop in the NASDAQ index. Still, doubts clearly
remained in some observers minds. For example, Holly Becker, an equity analyst
at Lehman Brothers, had reservations about Amazon s model. In a report issued in
February 2002 she said, in part: The used business appears to be an excellent
complement to Amazon s core retail offering. The used business allows Amazon
to participate in a growing market that leverages all of the inherent benefits of the
Internet . . . a truly virtual model, used eliminates a large portion of fulfillment
costs and inventory risk, and therefore provides higher margins . . . but . . . we
believe used is detrimental to Amazon s franchise in the long term. The company s
point of difference, market share, and service capabilities are far greater in new
products than used . . . we believe cannibalization is likely in the longer term.1
While the company had made dramatic strides in expanding the range of products it
offered, there were still many categories in which it participated little or not at all.
Thus, a key element of enhancing selection was to constantly expand the range of
Drug Administration Case Study
The order I would place the drug administration would start with Intravenous (IV)
method, this method is taking the drug exactly to the vein and it enters the
bloodstreams right then and to your brain. This method takes less than one minute.
The next one I choose would be inhaling, this would be like inhalantdrugs. Inhaling is
almost just as fast as IV druguse and goes quickly into your lungs to the bloodstream.
Next would be snorting, I would say this because this method is felt in two minutes
unlike the other drugs I previously listed. Snorting is through the mucous membranes
of a powdered drug like cocaine. Smoking is the next method and it not the same as
inhaling nitrous oxide which is confusing to me. Then there is swallowing, which...

It is shown in research that young adults 18 to 25 use the drug to help them stay up

side effects such as, nervousness, dizziness, restlessness, headache and decreased

some doctors also prescribe it to those that do not have ADHD. Even someone
taking the drug that does not need it can still feel the symptoms of taking it

In ancient literature, the protagonist of different stories often times shares many
great attributes that made them into a hero. Both Beowulf and Sir Gawain and the
Green Knight provide the reader with the traditional portrayal of a classical hero.
Beowulf tells the story of a warrior from Geats who has a history of being dominant
over monsters and beasts. His immaculate reputation leads him to be called upon in
the city of Danes in order to defeat Grendel, a monster that is murdering civilians
every night. He successfully defeats Grendel, and Beowulf is forced to go face
Grendel s mothers. His luck seems to be never ending when he finds a sword that
allows him to kill Grendel s mother and decapitate Grendel and take his head as a
prize to the Danes. Beowulf grows old in the city of Geats but does not perish until
he is forced to face one more beast. Beowulf dies in his battle with the beast but
only after having delivered a fatal blow to the dragon. Much like in Beowulf, Sir
Gawain and the Green Knightpresents a character, Sir Gawain, that possesses much
bravery and respect among his peers. When the king is faced with a challenge from
the green knight, Sir Gawain is quick to step in front of the king and take on the
challenger. The challenge that the knight presented was that Gawain could deliver
one blow to the green knight, but the knight could deliver one blow a year and a
day later. The green knight of course survives the blow and the story tells of Gawain

The Definition Of Theatre In The 18th And 19th Century
The word Theatre originates from the Greek word theatron, which means seeing
place, therefore describing theatre as a place where you go see things. There are 2
types of definitions for Theatre; the hardware and the software . The hardware being
definitions like indicating where films are shown or metaphorically refers to a place
where wars and surgeries occur like theatreof operations The software definition of
theatre describes the activity involved in theatre like the group of people that
compose plays.
The theatre building used to be small open spaces where the people performed and
spectators watched. As it grew in popularity, theatres needed to be remodeled and
made big enough to sit everyone. The audience would be located would be in an
elevated area and the actors below. Roman theatres were elaborate and embellished
with marble carvings and gilded columns. Theaters built in the 18th and 19th
century are still open and operating today. Theatres are fundamental to urban
architecture as well as to contemporary life. Theatre involves a very large group of
people working together on a single performance. These groups can be called
companies or troupes that tour cities to present a play. These companies are self
contained production units capable of writing, preparing and presenting works to a
point where some have become legendary, like the Lord Chamberlain s Men of
London, which Shakespeare was a part of.
Theatre is also the occupation of its practitioners.

Alexander the Great mastered generalship and all that implies. His ability to win
tactical engagements against his enemies by effectively utilizing all the principles of

approach warfare. The Battle of Austerlitz or the Battle of the Three Emperors did
two things: It brought an end to the Third Coalition and established the creation of
the French Empire under Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. Victory at Austerlitz was a
tactical success for Napoleon. Therefore, during the Battle of Austerlitz Napoleon
utilized all the Principles of War including mass, maneuver, surprise, security,

Mali was both a traditional culture and Islamic culture because there was both

The Dialectic Of Enlightenment, And The Culture Industry
This essay will compare and contrast the view of authentic art with the account of
The Culture Industry laid out in Chapter One of the Dialectic of Enlightenment By
Max Horkheimer and Theodor Adorno. The implications of which will be explored
for a critical theory in society. The objective aim of the Dialectic of Enlightenmentis
to criticize the social and cultural conditions of society by drawing out the insidious
psychological messages from media and The Culture Industry (Film, Radio, Music

Both Horkheimer and Adorno take such a radical approach to autonomous art
because they believe that art has been overhauled by The Culture Industry. Using art
as a means of mass deception, coercion and control though the radical standardisation
of arts form. The implications of The Culture Industry on all aspects of life are vast. I
believe that the capitalist system of domination is an insidious machine that
Horkheimer and Adorno have very accurately fleshed out in relation to the conditions
of capitalist society. They hoped to highlight the extent that which the products we
consume are imposed on us from the industry rather than arising spontaneously from
the masses disguised as demand and I believe they do so very well. However, the
conclusion of the disillusion with enlightenment, the exact purpose of the fragments
is misguided. The conclusion that enlightenment itself has fallen into this extreme
state of standardisation and that the enlightenment becomes the wholesale deception
of the masses) (DoE, 42) is over emphasising the importance of the culture industry

My Favorite Sports In The Rocky Movie
For the people who know me know that I that I am a diehard baseball fan,
basketball fan, and football fan. However, one of my favorite sports to watch is
boxing. I started to enjoy the sport of boxing after I saw the first Rocky movie. The
Rocky movie was my first introduction to the sport of boxing. Even though Rocky is
the fictional character he is one of the most iconic boxingfigures in the sport. Sure,
there are boxing legends like Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather, and
Oscar de la Hoya. But for some reason, Rocky Balboa is the reason that I am a fan
of the sport of boxing. As much I loved to talk about the Rocky movies or the other
boxing legends that I mention above fights this is not what this paper is about. This
paper is about the sport of boxing at the international level. In this paper, I will be
going over boxing at the history, rules/regulations, and how it impacts society.
There are five organizations that are involved with international boxing and they are
the World Boxing Association (WBA), International Federation of Boxing (IFB), the
World Boxing Organization (WBO), International Boxing Organization (IBO), and
the World Boxing Council (WBC). All of these organizations promote fighters here
in the United States and overseas. However, since there are a lot of international
boxing organizations and a lot of them have a similar history, rules, and regulations.
Which has led me to decide that I am just going to go over one of these organizations

Paid Employment in the Home Essay
Paid Employment in the Home
In her book The Second Shift, Arlie Hochschild describes how two job married
couples in the United States deal with the structural problem of the domestic work
shift, i.e., that when both members of a marriage work outside of the home, the
domestic work becomes an added burden to one or both of the members in addition
to their outside jobs. Modern society has increased the work load of the family,
thereby increasing tension in marriages and taking away time for leisure and
recreation for both spouses. Hochschild calls this a stalled revolution (12) because
women s entrance into the full time workforce has yet to bring about the necessary
structural change in American family life. Assuming that this state ... Show more

However, the 40 percent increase conveys the drastic growth of the home work
population, which seems to be generalizable to smaller sub groups of the home
work population as defined below. Because this movement back into the home is
relatively new and because of its current relatively small size, it is difficult for
social scientists to get large enough samples to make judgments about the
characteristics of home work (Kraut 1989). Home work is seen in the current
literature in both highly optimistic and strongly negative terms, and the size of the
work at home population has been described as less than 2 percent of the U.S.
labor force (Shamir 1992, p. 280) and nearly one quarter of the labor force
(Farmanfarmaian 1989, p. 37). These contradictions are due to both the size of this
group of workers, as mentioned earlier, and a lack of agreement between
researchers on a definition of the home worker (for example, how many hours of
work at home per week, working out of the home vs. working at home, etc.).
Robert Kraut (1989) groups home workers into 3 categories: substitutors, the self
employed, and supplementers. Substitutors are those who work at home regularly,
either full time or part time, as a substitution for working in an office. They can be
subcontractors or participants in a corporate work at home

college is usually the first time away from home. It can be difficult to adjust. Overall,

What should Tara do now to start addressing her problem? What steps should she take

I am not certain what she should at this point. Her immediate issue is to find extra
money from somewhere; perhaps parents, friends, or a short term loan company could
help her resolve the issue of car repairs. Perhaps if she has savings, this would be the
time to utilize those funds. If not, then maybe her bank will help her out, and extend
her a line of credit or short term personal loan. Depending on her credit card
servicer, they may extend or raise her credit limit. However, she would likely have to
be in good standing thus far.
Can you suggest some approaches Tara can take to deal with
Circus By Ralph Ellison Essay
Throughout the story there is circus imagery, which is significant to the story in
several ways. A circus is commonly known for being the entertainment for a large
group of people and is also characterized by a variety of acts and events designed to
arouse the awe and fascination of the crowds. The young African American men in
the story are forced to participate in a variety of events designed for the sole
purpose of entertaining the crowd of white men. This is effective because it is very
compelling in the way whites used to treat blacks. They looked at them such as circus
animals and felt empowered to do whatever they wanted, making them look like
clowns.
In addition to circus imagery, Ellison s story includes the use of animal imagery.
Essay On Facts About Wonder Woman

Art History is such an amazing discipline and knowing that Wonder Woman is

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of

Firms invest huge amounts as advertising expenditure for hiring the right celebrity.
However there lies uncertainty with respect to the returns the company might be
able to garner for the brand. Consumers perceive that the brand is of superior
quality because it has been endorsed by a credible source. This makes endorsement
as one of the key indicators of quality of any brand. The credibility of the corporate
along with endorser credibility plays a significant role in shaping the attitude of the
consumer towards the brand and the advertisement respectively. On the other hand,
the over popularity of the celebrity can sometimes overshadow the brand. If the

As soon as a new face ascends the popularity charts, advertisers line up to sign him
/her. The rise in celebrity endorsements can be justified by the following advantages
that are bestowed on the overall brand:
Establishment of Credibility: Approval of a brand by a star fosters a sense of trust
for that brand among the target audience this is especially true in case of new
products. We had the Shah Rukh Santro campaign. At launch, Shah Rukh Khan
endorsed Santro to create its brand awareness in the market, when most of the people
didn t even know about Santro. .
PR coverage is another reason for hiring celebrities. Celebrities contribute in
creating a buzz. For instance, one of the oldest pop groups, the Spice Girls, who
have not only appeared in advertisements for Pepsi, but also in their product launch,
press conference and other PR events. Most media, from television to newspapers,
gave the brand a lot of coverage.
Higher degree of recall: People tend to commensurate the personalities of the
celebrity with the brand thereby increasing the recall value. Golf champion Tiger
Woods has endorsed American Express, Nike, and Rolex. Actress Catherine Zeta
Jones is used by T Mobile and Elizabeth Arden. 007 Pierce Brosnan promotes BMW,

Supervision Theory Essay
Why is a supervision theory basis necessary? How does an effective leader bridge
theory to practice?
Supervision involves having other people do work through delegation of duties. This
requires that the people to whom work has been delegated be trusted and respected.
There needs to be confidence between the employees and the supervisor. To compete
effectively and achieve success companies usually rely on the involvement of their
employees and must nurture their employees and encourage their initiative. This
requires effective leaders who can encourage others to be committed and involved at
work (Barry, Herbert Jeannette, 2003). On one side, the supervisor bears pressure

Relationship oriented behaviors are those behaviors that promote cohesion in a
group. Leaders who are relationship oriented are those who show human relationships
and work hard to maintain the group they lead. This type of leadership usually
involves support to the subordinates, trusting that the subordinates can work without
much supervision and a friendly environment between the leaders and the
subordinates.
By the use of these behaviors, the people in the team get the opportunity to give
their best. This is because these leaders develop a good communication channel that
involves everybody participating in decision making. Moreover, the results of the
group are usually boosted since everybody is involved and there is no time when the
leader shall make biased decisions.
This behavior is usually employee oriented but not result oriented. As such employee
feel that their interests are well addressed and end up working harder. Moreover, this
behavior makes employees not feel as subordinates by dispelling the tension that
might develop among the employees. Therefore, they usually contribute freely
towards the group and this improves the results of the group. The overall result of
relationship oriented behaviors is the improved results of the team.
As an example, a manager who is always oriented towards the results of the people
below him forces the employees to always do what he wants even if they are
incapable of doing it. Such a manager
Walter Mitty Character Analysis
Walter Mitty s Dominant Secret Life (Rough) Written by James Thurber, The
Secret Life of Walter Mitty, is the story of Walter Mitty s day in the city
daydreaming of many scenarios of him being a hero and having power and fame.
Between each of his daydreams, he is interrupted repeatedly by the real life in a rude
fashion by his wife and other characters in the city, ending his daydreams. In The
Secret Life of Walter Mitty, many interpret that many of the supporting characters
look down on Walter Mitty. In his daydreams, Mr. Mitty is seen as being superior
to others and well respected by people, showing him to be dominant over all other
characters both in his daydreams and the real life. Walter Mitty s relationship with
his wife is one of the more unusual relationships that you would find during the late
30s. As the bible says, For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the
head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. (Ephesians, 5:23), but, in the
story, the husband, Walter Mitty is inferior to Mrs. Mitty. [...] Walter Mitty is

The Faults in The Affordable Care Act Essays
Many of today s arguments within the American government have to do with
health care. The Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare or The
ACA, has been effective since March 23, 2010. Most of Obamacare s major
provisions, such as mandated individual coverage, just took effect at the beginning
of 2014. Democrats support the health care reform while a majority of republicans
are entirely against it. On paper the health care reform looks good, but there are a
lot of things that could potentially hurt the American population. Our founding
fathers never had a debate over healthcare and frankly I don t think it should be a
topic of discussion today. The way healthcare has worked in the past is still working
today and I see no reason to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Health Care Conscience Rights Act, or HCCRA, would be a huge overhaul to
the Affordable Care Act as a whole. One of the major changes being the freedom to
choose and not be taxed for not wanting to be covered. Unfortunately this bill has
yet to get pass it s committee and the future of it seems quite dim. As of now if you
indeed choose not to enroll in Obamacare and do not pay your fines the fee will be
taken out of your income tax return by the IRS. After all, if nobody enrolls
Obamacare will fail. In order to avoid this they made it mandatory and gave the IRS
the power to take money from Americans in order to finance something that half of
them would rather not be a part of. Not only is this mandate unconstitutional, it will
fail and ultimately hurt our country in the end. Obamacare also states that all
employers with more than 50 full time workers must provide affordable health
insurance or face a fee of up to 2,000 dollars for every full time employee receiving a
tax credit minus 30. What is a tax credit? Say, Bob for example, decides that his
employer doesn t offer coverage that fits his personal needs. Bob can go to an
exchange and find more affordable coverage that actually covers what he needs it
to. The benefit to bob is that he gets coverage and he would also get a tax cut for
finding the appropriate coverage for him, hence the tax credit. The bad thing is that
now the company faces the penalty for not
Biological And Most Aggressive Type Of Brain Malignancy
Recent studies including a genome wide study of certain cancers have come to
demonstrate that the most common and most aggressive type of brain malignancy, or
glioblastoma (GBM) comprises a shared link: alterations in the catalytic protein,
isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) (1). The focus of such research is the mutant forms
of NADP dependent homologous enzymes IDH1 and IDH2 (2) localized
predominantly in cytosolic and mitochondrial regions, respectively. Both of these
heterozygous point mutations modify the amino acidresidue present at the active site
of the original enzyme. Subsequently, neomorphic activity of the enzyme IDH is
established, replacing its original function with the conversion of the О±
Ketoglutarate (О± KG) to D 2 hydroxyglutarate (D 2 HG), an oncogenic metabolite
(3). The presence of IDH1/2 mutants in cells is consistent with abnormally high levels
of this tumor progressor, D 2 HG, which inhibits catalytic proteins that are О± KG
dependent (4). As a result, D 2 HG indirectly influences epigenetic regulation, the
formation of collagen as well as histone methylation. Transgenic mouse models are
now advancing to provide insight into the effects of IDH mutations in tandem with
other cooperating mutations better understand glioma pathogenesis (5).
The biochemical pathways involved in IDH mutant forms (IDH1m, IDH2m) reveal
that a substitution of the arginine residue 132 with histidine is responsible for the
pathogenic changes due to IDH1 mutations (6) (Figure 1).
Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp Research Paper
Bergen Belsen Concentration Camp The Bergen Belsen Concentration Camp
could be both a good, and bad place to be. The camp had mainly held Jewish
people, and other political prisoners. Many prisoners would come from other
camps, but few would go, alive that is. The Bergen Belsen Camp was established in
1940, by German Military Authorities. In April 1943, the S.S. Economic
Administration Main Office had administered the concentration camp system.
They took a portion of the camp and converted it into a civilian residence camp.
Later, they had made it into a concentration camp. The camp was a prisoner of war

What I really love about Comcast NBC is that they obtain the broadcasting rights
to marquee sporting events. This is where they defer from different broadcasting
corporations. Comcast NBC focus on sporting events such as the Kentucky Derby,
NHL games when they are played outdoors, Indy Car racing, and the Olympics.
Outside of the NFL NBC does not obtain the broadcasting rights to the NBA or the
MLB where there are frequent games played. So when you combine the hallmark
sporting events with primetime NFL broadcast it makes for a great business
decision. People in North America love football and broadcasting events that are
scarce makes the viewership rating go up. I have wondered why NBC has not
made a competitive bid lately for the NBA or MLB but after evaluating their
company it makes perfect sense.NBCUniversal was also another great expansion to
their company but broadcasting on a global stage to reach customers all around the
world. Another evaluation I have made with NBC comcast was how important the
Olympics are to them.NBC loves broadcasting the olympics because the viewership
is global which leads to huge profits. Comcast NBC is a great company who is
expanding their horizons on a daily basis to make their company more profitable. I
enjoyed learning about this corporation I originally thought that NBC was

Unequal Education In The United States
Education can be looked upon as the greatest key to unlock the hidden treasure known
as success. Education expands and grows human intellect to extents that allow the
performance, execution, and achievement of an individual to be at its peak.
Nevertheless, throughout history, this glorious tool to enlightenment has not been
shared equally amongst men. We see that throughout the decades, some were
administered proper education, while other received unequal education or none at all.
Currently, there are many plans of action implemented to correct this dilemma in the
United States, but there is still an educational gap that exists. Research demonstrates
that in 2015 Iowa had the highest graduation rate of 90.8%, while the District of

The U.S. Department of Education regulates all educational policies in the country,
allowing this group to have substantial control in the growth and development of the

inequalities that have lingered, causing many students to lose out on potential
opportunities to receive secondary education or job opportunities. However, as of
recently, there is a new act to fix this dilemma. On December 10, 2015, President
Barack Obama passed the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The purpose of this
act is to develop the youth better so that the achievement gap that students face can
begin to shrink. ESSA is more effective than the other implementations, such as the
No Child Left Behind Act, because creates standards for students to reach and
monitors their progress as they develop. This ensures accountability and that students

Also, ESSA gives federal aid to schools with students who come from low income

students are now given more resources to better

Thatcher and Thatcherism Essay
Thatcher and Thatcherism
It is now twenty years since Margaret Thatcher was elected Prime Minister of Great
Britain, and over eight years since she left office. So this seems a good opportunity
to look back at what Thatcher and Thatcherism may have achieved, and what may be
the lessons for today.
I must start with a disclaimer. I m the British High Commissioner and normally
speak on behalf of the British Government in Australia. But I hope you will realise
that in addressing a subject such as this I am speaking in a personal capacity. I am
not quite sure what the Foreign Office would say if I asked them for the official line
on Thatcherism. Given some of their run ins with her on foreign policy,... Show more

But the bulk of my career was in fact working for Ministers who to a greater or
lesser extent fell out with her. Nigel Lawson, who was Chancellor of the Exchequer,
and in many ways one of those who most closely shared her philosophy on freeing
markets and on cutting spending and taxes. But who disagreed with her strongly on
exchange rate policy and on the poll tax, leading eventually to his resignation.
And then I worked for John Major, when he was Prime Minister, and in effect her
anointed successor. But who found it hard sometimes to cope with the voices off
from Mrs Thatcher or her friends criticising him for not following her policies or her

So I welcome this opportunity to step back and reflect on Thatcher and Thatcherism.
By any standard, she is a remarkable figure. The longest serving British Prime
Minister this century. The only one to have won three successive General Elections
and indeed she was never defeated at a General Election. The only woman Prime
Minister. The only one with an ism associated with her.
I want to concentrate on her period as Prime Minister. But I first should put it in
context by setting out some of the background. For she became Prime Minister at a
time when some of the accepted nostrums that had guided British

Cobalt Synthesis Lab Report
Results and Discussions By using the principle of LeChatlier, one can determine the
two Cobalt forms CoCl4 2 and Co(H2O)6 2+. In order to determine whether or not
the solution will shift left or right with respect to equilibrium, it is based on Cl .
However, when silver nitrate was added to bis(tetraethylammonium), it showed that
Cl was reduced in the given solution. This ultimately caused the synthesis of the
product turned it a pink color. When given a blue color, it was determined that
tetraethylammonium Chloride was involved with the stock solution, which
ultimately caused the Cl to form the reactants. Finally, based from the results, it is
shown that CoCl4 2 is blue, and Co(H20)6 2+ is pink. Since we now have
determined the two different colors of Cobalt, we can now find constant K. With the
help of the spectrophotometer, the absorbance of the stock solutions were measured
at 656nm and 519nm respectively. The concentration was determined with the help of
Beers Law and the extinction coefficient of each wavelength. Finally, the equilibrium
constant was .327x10^ 7. CoCl4 2 6H2OCo(H20)62+4Cl I0.0162.8 M0.000.00

Likewise, the solution was placed in an hot water bath in order for the temperature to
rise. Given the solution in the ice bath, it turned pink. Moreover, given the solution in
the warm bath, it turned blue. At the wavelengths of 656nm and 519nm, the solutions
absorbance s were recorded at 4degrees Celsius and 40 degrees Celsius. Given the
results, one can conclude that the reaction was exothermic. This is true because the
reaction shifted to the left when heat was added which ultimately led to the
production of more CoCl4

Defense Of Violence In Sport
Sport resembles war. In fact, sport was originally built on the premise of preparing
soldiers for battle in ancient times. Violence was very prevalent in Ancient Rome and
has since deceased because of the emergence of modern sport (Jovašević
Batrićević, 2013). Violence in sport today is not just committed by the athletes,
but by coaches and spectators (Corbett et al., 2008). Although violencehas been
involved in sport for quite some time, the question still remains is violence ethical?
Cashmore (as cited in, Wagg et at, 2014) believes that sportsmen and women have
no reason to participate in sport for extrinsic money or rewards. Because of modern

v. McSorley case, McSorley was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, his
hockey stick. McSorley struck Donald Brashear in the back of the head with his
stick in the last seconds of the game (Lawless, 2016). McSorley claimed not to
have intended to hit Brashear in the head, but simply the shoulder (R. v. McSorley,
2000). This makes the intention in this case a real issue. McSorley used the
defence of recklessness (R. v. McSorley, 2000). Recklessness is where a person
knew, or ought to have known, that the conduct would likely cause serious injury
to another (Corbett et al., 2008, Pg.45). McSorley claimed to not have intended the
outcome or striking the head, but he did the action knowing the outcome could be
an injury (R. v. McSorley, 2000). Marc Crawford the head coach of the Vancouver
Canucks stated there was no chance for Donald to expect that it was coming...it
was significant force. (R.v. McSorley, 2000, Pg.8). It is very clear that Donald did
not consent to the force of the overtly violent act. There are defences that can be
used when charged with criminal assault and they are: lack of intent to inflict
harm, defence from an attack, and an instinctive reaction (Corbett et al., 2008, 41).
Not included in the list of defences is provocation because it cannot be used as a
credible defence to assault (Corbett et al., 2008). McSorley and his defence of
recklessness were stricken down based on the fact that even a small child would not
have missed hitting another person in the shoulder instead of the head if that was
their true intention (Lawless, 2016). Eventually McSorley was found guilty of
assault with a weapon and was given probation, a suspension from the NHL and

Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare s Merchant of Venice is a story about man seeking justice for
the forfeiture of his bond. Shylock the Jew created a bond loaning three thousand
ducats to his rival Antonio. In the event that the loan could not be paid back, Shylock
was entitled to a pound of flesh from the breast of Antonio. Antonio s invested the
money in his merchant ships hoping to gain profit. Unfortunately he loses his ships at
sea, losing everything Shylockhad loaned him. Shylock happily takes Antonio to
court in hopes of receiving that pound of flesh as a result of the forfeiture of his
bond. However due to manipulation of the court by an illegitimate lawyer, Shylock is

The impartial Duke once again tries to bend the law by persuading Shylock to take
Bassanio s offer of six thousand ducats to compensate for the three thousand

other higher position authorities own slaves and no one could not tell them how to
treat them because they own them: You have among you many a purchased
slave...you use in abject and in slavish parts, Because you bought them. Shall I say
to you, Let them be free! ...You will answer The Slaves are ours . (4.1 90 9)
According to the laws of Venice, which all should abide by, Shylock owns that flesh
and no person, not even the judge, has the right to tell him what to do with it. Once
again the court is showing bias towards Shylock, further displaying the corruption of
this court. The final point in conveying the aggressiveness of this court to go against
Shylock occurs during the closing argument from Portia, disguised as a lawyer
named Balthazar. Portia argues that Shylock was in fact legally justified in obtaining
a pound of Antonio s flesh. However she then points out that if he sheds one drop of
blood when he cuts it, Venice will then have the right to confiscate his lands and
property. Portia shows her conflict of interest against Shylock by then saying Thou

This song is composed by Nujabes and performed by Cise Starr and Akin. The
composer himself is very accomplished, influencing an entire genre of music. This
song is very rhythmic and has identifiable beats. The song has a message that I
hold with high regard, as I share the beliefs of the composer. It is the first track in one
of my favourite albums Modal Soul. It also references one of my favourite books
Flowers for Algernon.
The smooth blend of jazz and hip hop instrumentals as well as the melodic tune of
the piano, complemented by the rough voices of Cise Starr and Akin make this song
very enjoyable. Having listened to many of his other songs, I highly admire Nujabes
for his deep commitment to his craft and his ability to produce beautiful music that
combines multiple genres. In many of his other songs, hip hop beats are also often
blended with jazz influences to create a mellow atmospheric sound. Moreover, I also
admire Nujabes for contributing to the original soundtrack of my favorite show,

The Problems Facing The United States
We are caught in a time of our nation s history when misfortunes, mismanagement,
corruption, and leftwing ideology come together in a powerful concurrence of
circumstances that leave our once dynamic nation at risk for disaster.
Americans are a people dependent upon a meddling, incompetent government with its
foot on the necks of its citizens. As incredible as it seems, our representatives
allowed dictators and corrupt regimes around the world to control nearly everything
we need for survival. Moreover, this administration is weak and incapacitated on the
world stage, making us dependent upon the very people who wish to annihilate us.
Dozens of pressing problems challenge America today. Unquestionably, however, the

There was a time when America rightfully boasted the greatest and most envied
industrial complex and manufacturing base in the history of mankind. However, that
was before politicians decided to over regulate, over tax, and enact never ending
destructive legislation motivating business and manufacturing to surrender and move
to foreign countries offering more welcoming laws.
Further, national politicians signed unwise trade agreements with countries that
placed the United States in a subservient position on trade. Mega international
corporation lobbyists became the driving force for trade policy, and national
security steadily suffered. Fair trade became a victim of an ill conceived national
policy and withered in the heat of backroom deals between money brokers and
politicians. The false narrative of free trade left our nation impotent in a world
offering depressed wages, fewer benefits, insignificant regulations, and lower taxes.
Obviously, good paying jobs with benefits vanished as we became less competitive.
International trade is an absolute necessity to a healthy U. S. economy. Unfortunately,
big time money speaks louder and more forcefully than common sense and fair
economic practice. Democrats and Republicans joined at the wallet with special
interests, tragically left our national security rusting away in hundreds of silent,

Colgan air flight 3407 was a larger plane and being so needed a lot of materials to
investigate the wreckage. Initially once on scene, an investigator would need to
call for as many emergency personnel as possible. This is to secure the area which
was as big as a mile wide by at least a half mile in length. During this investigators
would need personal protective equipment like gloves, masks, and body suits, to
protect against any hazards from the wreck including fires and to prevent inhaling
toxins. Investigators would need cameras to record the massive amount of
evidence and wreckage. Since the plane stalled and spun it went down at a fairly

useful to find out when the last communications were and if they were
encountering an emergency. Radar information would be useful to determine a
possible flight path of the plane. While weather information of the crash would be
needed since there was a possibility of icing in the area that could have caused
complications. Also, check to see if there were any 911 calls from people
witnessing the plane go down. Any pilot information that is available would be
beneficial to have including hours, training, and any failures in checks. Along with
records, any last communications to the pilots would need to be found to help see
if the pilots were of sound mind and body before the flight to rule out foul play.
After all of this, it would be good to have any aircraft records to make sure
maintenance was up to standard and all airworthiness directives were complied
Summary Of Texas Hold Em Poker
As for the method we applied to discover the probability and bet on the odds in the
Texas Hold em Poker, there are two main stages: First of all, we replicate the
common conditions after the flop, the given condition we discuss here is heads up
limit Texas Hold em Poker. In that way, we first sort out all the possible pokerhand
combinations for one player, figuring out the possibility for each starting hand to
form a specific poker hand. Then, we analyze the opponent s winning probability
given the five cards we already known. Based on the winning probability and pot
odds, a wiser player could bet with more information and confidence through the
whole process rather than focus only on the current situation and decides blindly on
that.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The program of the project is designed to compute the probability for Player A and
Player B based on the probabilities we covered in the tables above in 3.2.2 and
3.2.3. Its purpose is to simplify the process of finding out the probabilities so that
the project is more user friendly. The program we shown here calculate one
condition in 3.2.2 as an example, input five numbers range from 1 to 52 that
represents five cards that makes Player A poker hand is Full house, the program
will conduct an operation to find out the suit and rank represented by this number.
Then, knowing the five cards with their suit and rank, the program will check the
validity of the input by counting the number of cards that have the same rank and
proceeds to the next stage if input is valid. The second stage of the program is to
calculate the probability for Player B to win by categorize the poker types of the
input first and match the correspondent probability formulas then to work out the
precise number for Player B. Generally speaking, the project has successfully
achieved the goal of calculating the probability for a Heads up Limit Texas Hold
em Poker between Player A and Player B in the stage of flop. It covers all the
possible conditions of Poker hand types when five cards are known by single
player, and gives the probability to help the player make the best decision in the
stage of flop with much more information than opponent so they could bet on the
odds wisely to outperform the opponent in the long run. However, the project do
have its limitations due to its method as we concluded in 3.1, and the program for the
project is not complete due to its complexity
The Anti-Stratfordian
Have you ever experienced the feeling of complete shock and astonishment? When
something you have learned all your life has started to be questioned by people
around the world? This is exactly what happened to the many that studied and
admired Shakespeare s works, who were stunned to hear that their beloved poet may
not have been who the world believed he was. People, known commonly as Anti
Stratfordians , began to doubt his credibility and started introducing new candidates
who fit the profile of the esteemed William Shakespeare. Their claims however, never
came to real fruition, with an insufficient amount of concrete evidence to cast enough
genuine doubt on the man widely accepted to be William Shakespeare. Their
opposition, known as Stratfordians ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the time of Shakespeare, it was customary for men to leave money for their
friends for memorial rings when they died. William Shakespeare who died in
Stratford upon Avon bequeathed money in his will for memorial rings to John
Heminges, Henry Condell, and Richard Burbage, actors in Lord Chamberlain s
Men theatre company and known associates of William Shakespeare, who wrote
for the company. The same John Heminges and Henry Condell edited and
published the First Folio, the 1623 published collection of Shakespeare s plays
only to keep the memory of so worthy a friend and fellow alive as was our
Shakespeare (Murphy PBS.org). Also in the First Folio, Ben Johnson, commonly
considered the second most notable English dramatist during the early 17th century,
wrote a praiseful poem in which he referred to Shakespeare as Sweet Swan of Avon
(qtd. Murphy PBS.org). In notes found after his death in 1641, Johnson wrote about
the playwright as though they were friends. I loved the man, and do honour [sic] his
memory (on this side Idolatry) as much as any. He was (indeed) honest, and of an

The Aeneid Research Paper
In Anglo Saxon literature there were many stories and songs of ancient heroes, and
how these men were great warriors who conquered the greatest of feats. In the fifth
century the Angles and Saxons, from Germany, dominated the European continent
and proposed a new language and war like culture. Accomplishing this by pushing
the Britons out to the border of the country. Scops of the time played the role of
telling the stories and for the memorization of them to pass down to the next
generation. The role of men in Anglo Saxon literature was the position of epic
heroes that set moral standards for those who were warriors. The scops would sing
these songs and stories before the battles to prepare for the warriors. Men during this

Homer was a Greek poet who wrote The Iliad and The Odyssey, these epics were
the first of their kind of literature to surface and created an entirely different genre.
Homer set the scene for other writers that were influenced by his works by showing
what the criteria of the proper epic poem was. Homer influenced poets such as
Virgil. Virgil constructed the epic The Aeneid taking one of the characters from
Homer s Iliad. All authors of the Medieval and Renaissance eras so in a way Homer
influenced authors who didn t even read his works. The Aeneid set examples for
other pieces of literature as The Iliad did for it. Epic poetry from the its introduction
to modern day reflected the society of its time period, those characteristic were
implemented into the epics to be relatable and a little more realistic and not
complete fiction. These stories of epic heroes had impacts on the people of their
time as well as the literature. The poems were impactful to people of the time by
giving warriors motivation to go into battle with the ideas of being as strong and as
fearsome as the epic heroes in the poem presented to them by the scopes and other
storytellers. The poems throughout history impacted the people of the time and the
future of literature and gave new ideas to new uprising
The Intruder AnalysisEssay
In Andre Dubus s short story The Intruder , Dubus tells a story of a young boy
losing his innocence to protect his sister s, while struggling to find his place
between boyhood and manhood. The young boy, who is named Kenneth, can be
associated with many biblical allusions concerning the scenarios he is put in. In The
Intruder , Kenneth s relationship with Connie is being intruded on and he must
protect it with his gun, the only symbol of manliness and power he has. In some
ways, Kenneth can be portrayed as a Christ figure because of his sacrificefor his sister
like Jesus did for the world. Kenneth can be seen as many things, but all he wants to
be is a manly hero.

Douglas does not find Kenneth threatening in any way even when Kenneth shows
him his gun: Whatcha got there? . Twenty two. Let s see. Better dry it. He briskly
wiped it with a dry cloth and handed it to Douglas. Quickly Douglas worked the
bolt, aimed at the ceiling, and pulled the trigger. Nice trigger, he said. He held in
front of his waist and looked at it then gave it to Kenneth. (Dubus 223 224)
Douglas is accepted by the family and Kenneth is the only one left between Douglas
and Connie, like David was the only one brave enough to fight Goliath. Kenneth can
also be portrayed as Moses leading people to safety because he does with Connie
when he kills the intruder. Kenneth s experience can also be compared to the story of
Adam and Eve. Another way of saying loss of innocence, of couse is the Fall. Adam
and Eve, the garden, the serpent, the forbidden fruit. Every story about the loss of
innocence is really about someone s private reenactment of the fall from grace .
(Foster 49) Kenneth and Connie both loss some form of innocence in this story and
their introduction to real death and violence is the forbidden fruit Kenneth loses the
most innocence because he commits a sin of murder. While defending against the
intruder, Kenneth acts on what he thinks is right, just like the biblical characters
Gustave Moreau s Painting The Apparition
1.The Symbolist movement was founded around 1886 with the writing of the
Symbolist Manifesto published in the publication Le Figaro. In the later part of
the 19th century, Symbolist work was concerned with the fragility of masculinity
and la femme fatale. Gustave Moreau is one of the most famous painters
associated with Symbolism. His painting titled The Apparition, painted in 1874,
depicts Salome dancing for King Herod, pointing at the floating, glowing
apparition of John the Baptist s head. Salome is depicted as a classical nude,
dancing to win her reward requested of King Herod. The fact that Salome could
influence the minds of men and inflict such destruction with her naked body is one
way the fear of femininity manifests itself in Moreau s work. Salome is la femme
fatale because she exclusively uses the influence her femininity and naked body have
over men to get what she wants. In contrast to Salome s body and the head of John
the Baptist, the rest of the composition is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rops s painting, titled Pornocrates painted in 1878, depicts a blindfolded woman
dressed in nothing but stockings, shoes, gloves, a hat and a bow around her waist.
She is walking a pig on a leash surrounded by flying putti. At first glance, this
woman would appear to be a classical nude, but her attributes show she is only a
naked woman. Aspects of Pornocrates can be compared to Alexandre Cabanel s
Birth of Venus, painted in 1863. In Cabanel s work, Venus is a classical nude
positioned in a coy, feminine pose, also with putti around her. The woman in
Pornocrates wears pieces of modern dress, depicting her as inappropriately
undressed and lewd. She is the personification of the loose morals and hedonistic
nature of prostitutes found in the big city. Although also similar to Cabanel, the putti
in Rops s work are striking semi sexual and revealing poses, dissuading the viewer of

Company Analysis:
Courier Pak is an underrated service that is provided by FEC. Its profit margin is
higher than all the other services provided (66%), and has huge growth potential. It
has both great speed and reliability, making a service worth promoting.
Customer Analysis:
Currently, executives and their assistants are mainly using CP. The top three
industries that use CP are Manufacturing and distribution, Advertising, and Printing
and publishing. According to Exhibit 6, the market size of emergency, rush, or
special handling delivery of small items/documents was around 870,000 per day.

Adding 4700 more daily CP would amount to $38,775 in profits per day, assuming a
profit margin $8.25.
Competition:
Competition for CP lies in the Emergency and Rush services. Emergency services
received maximum speed and was the most costly. Purolator Courier Corporation,
Shulman Sky Cab, Delta Dash are all companies that provide the service. However,
the average Emergency service cost was $30, and CPs cost significantly lower. The
average Rush cost was around $10, and although CPs are most expensive, they are
at a competitive price by offering competitive advantages. The most specific service
competitor is U.S. Postal Service s Express Mail, which costs $6.00 per package.
How should FEC market CP? Which industries should FEC focus on?
FEC should market to those who are not Executives, as they already have them as
customers, but rather any and all industries. The Manufacturing and Distributing
industry uses the most CP monthly, and we would like to see the other similar
industries use just as much. Any industry that transports small goods can utilize the
service.
The 5 minimum purchase costs $62.50, which creates a barrier for those who are
willing and able to send something within a tight time constraint. Envelopes should
be provided for free, and charged upon the actual service of mailing out the package.
Corporations enjoy flexibility. We believe that CPs should be marketed as a product
that is great for reliability and speed, making a point that they
Card Debt
Plastic money is in vogue in today s economy. Paying for what you buy through
your credit card is fashionable and convenient. But credit cards are growingly
becoming a matter of immense concern thanks to the problem of card debt. The
problem of credit card debt arises when consumers buy something swapping their card
but are unable to repay the moneyto the card company within the stipulated time
period.
Moreover, when consumers purchase things using this form of plastic money, they
actually end up paying more than they would otherwise have because apart from
paying the price of the goods and services availed of, they also have to pay a
complex rate of interest that keeps adding up each month and thereby the credit card
debt too transforms in to a huge and often unbelievable figure.

In fact when companies realize that a customer is nearing bankruptcy they may also
make offers for a fresh deal to the consumer that help to relieve him of some of his
debt burden and at the same time the companies too can maintain their profit levels.
Another form of card debt relief is to consolidate the different debts in to one loan
and use the loan money to pay off the multiple credit card debts with different interest
rates and penalty rates.
In this way the consumer is relieved from complex interest rates and penalties and
has to pay off only a single loan which makes calculations easier and even penalty is
not charged in this case. Also mostly, the interest charged on such loan is lower than
in the case of credit cards.
It is true that debt bogs most of us down but now there are many smart ways of
managing your credit card debt in a way that it cannot get the better of

A Doll s House Research Paper
A Doll s House: The Hopelessness of Marriage Having an optimistic viewpoint is
something that is extremely important in everyone s lives. Despite that, there are
certain aspects of life that simply can only be seen in a pessimistic way if they do
not fit one s expectations. Something that follows this pattern is marriage. If the
husbandand wifedo not have good chemistry, their marriage simply will end in
disaster. One instance of marriage being showcased in this grim manner can be seen
in the play A Doll s House by Henrik Ibsen. Despite some hope appearing in the
relationship between Nora and Torvald Helmer, ultimately, the play paints a gloomy
picture on marriage. Ibsen expresses the theme of gender inequalities within marriage

The usage of the tarantella within the play can symbolize the controlling nature of
the husband,Torvald, in the marriage. Nora purposely dances in a way that
displeases him, in an attempt to get him to not find out about a forgery she
committed. Seeing her drastic dancing, Torvald states, No, no, that s all wrong
(204) and attempts to force her to dance in a manner he prefers. This is an example
of the tarantella being used to symbolize an inequality within their marriage. At
this point in the play, Krogstad, a disgruntled employee of Torvald s, placed a
letter blackmailing Nora within his employer s mailbox, so Nora, knowing she
has no power to control Torvald s actions, has to purposely dance the tarantella in a
ferocious way in order to distract her husband from opening his mailbox. Now, if
this marriage was founded on equality, Nora should have been given access to the
mailbox or at least, she should have been able to directly admit her past illegal
forgery for Torvald s sake, rather than resort to dancing in order to distract him. An
alternate meaning for the symbol of the tarantella can be the sexual expectations
and objectifying of women within the marriage, as while attempting to have
sexual intercourse with Nora, Torvald states, I see you still have the tarantella in
your blood it makes you more enchanting than ever (215). Torvald also goes on to
talk about his fantasies, and how the tarantella makes him desire her. Nora clearly
does not want to have intercourse, but Torvald retaliates with Don t want to ? I m
your husband, aren t I? (215). Torvald expects Nora to oblige to his command and
objectifies her. In a marriage founded on equality, this objectifying and forcing of
someone to follow one s will would simply not occur, as these are examples of
inequality between two peoples. In conclusion, through the symbol of the
Research on Food Allergies Essay
Research on Food Allergies
True food allergies are not as common as many people believe and do in fact only
affect about 2% of children. However, they are more common in younger children
(affecting about 5 8% of younger children). Fortunately, most younger children will
outgrow these food allergies by the time that they are three years old.
Symptoms of a food allergies can often include wheezing and difficulty in breathing,
along with itchy skin rashes, including hives, vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal
pain and swelling around the mouth and in the throat (common with nut allergies).
These symptoms usually develop fairly quickly after a child ingests the food that
they are allergic to, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If anyone notices that a child develops symptoms after being exposed to certain
foods, then the child should avoid such foods. The most common foods that can
cause allergies include: peanuts, tree nuts (walnuts, pecans, etc.), fish, shellfish,
eggs (especially egg whites), milk, soy, and wheat. Keeping a diary for a few
weeks and recording what foods a child has been eating, especially new foods, and
when they develop symptoms may help figure out what they are allergic to. This is
often what professionals encourage families to do to get to the true cause of what is
making them so ill.
Once it has been determined what a child is allergic to, it is important to learn to
read food labels because the food a child is allergic to may be an ingredient of
many other foods. They should also avoid eating foods that may have been prepared
using equipment that was also used to prepare the types of food that the child is
allergic to.
When trying to determine what a child is allergic to, parents often incorrectly
assume that if they have eaten a food before and not had problems, then they are
probably not allergic to that food. Parents usually only suspect new foods as being
able to cause a food allergy. However, it is important to keep in mind that it takes time
for the immune system to build up a reaction against something that the body is
Business Intelligence Concept
1.0 Summary
With the advent of economic globalization and information era, the environment of
enterprise is more complex and the competition of market is more intense, the
organizational structure of the enterprise is also more and more complex. In this
environment, enterprises want to request to the survival and development must have
efficient operation, the right decisions and quick response. This requires a tool to
help enterprises to produce large amounts of data in the process of operation and data
collection, consolidation, analysis and assessment and then make a correctly
predicted basis of these processes, so as to realize that transform data to information,
information to knowledge and knowledge to profit for enterprises (Nemati, 2004).
Therefore, business intelligence was born. In this essay, it mainly discussed the
impact and advantage of business intelligence to enterprise development, and it also
give some examples of applications to help understand the function of business
intelligence system.
2.0 Introduction
Business Intelligence is a computer based system which is used by organizations for
decision making purpose. In the United States, 500 enterprises which have more than
90% of enterprises use business intelligence software to help managers make

Essay On Nanowires
Abstract This paper provides an overview of the ongoing developments and research
efforts on nanowires. It is a brief survey of the types of materials used and the
applications associated with nanowire research. It is a method combining laser
ablation, cluster formation and vapour liquid solid growth
(VLS). In this process, laser ablation was used to prepare nanometer diameter
catalyst clusters that define the size of wires produced by VLS growth. This
approach was used to prepare bulk quantities of uniform single crystal silicon and
germanium nanowires with diameters of 6 20 and 3 9 nm. Studies carried out with
different conditions and catalyst materials confirmed the central detail of the growth

II. NANOWIRE SYNTHESIS
Many of the papers included in this survey concentrated on methods or materials used
to synthesize nanowires. Most nanowire synthesis occurs via Vapor LiquidSolid
(VLS) processes. VLS processes use a liquid catalyst to draw components out of a
vapor phase and deposit them in a solid phase. While terms such as laser ablation
and chemical vapor deposition may often be used to describe the synthesis
technique used in a particular experiment, this commonly refers only to the means
by which the vapor phase is produced or transported. For example, laser ablation
uses a laser to vaporize a source material, forming the vapor phase that is absorbed
and later deposited by the catalyst droplet as the nanowire grows.
Silicon nanowires often are synthesized through VLS processes [1 3]. Specifically, a
substrate is coated with gold nanoparticles and then heated until the gold melts and
forms tiny droplets. A silicon containing vapor, typically silane, or
SiH4, is then passed over the substrate. At the vapor gold interface, silicon atoms are
stripped from the silane and are absorbed into the nanoparticles. When the saturation
limit of silicon in gold has been reached, the silicon precipitates out of the droplet
onto the substrate.
This precipitate builds up and lifts the catalyst away from the substrate, giving

In Mother Tongue, Amy Tan talks about how language influenced her life while
growing up. Through pathos she explains to her audience how her experiences with
her mother and the Chinese language she came to realize who she wanted to be and
how she wanted to write.
The author, Tan, has written the books The Joy Luck Club, and The Kitchen Gods
Wife. She is Asian American, her parents are originally from China, but moved to
Oakland, California. The audience in Tan s essay is people 20 35 years old who are

She wants the audience to know right away that even though she is about to tell
you the story of a difficult childhood, she did reach her goal in the end. After
making this statement, Tan dives into her past and how she came to be where she
is today. Her mother is the next most important point of discussion. Her mother
influenced her writing style as well as her beliefs about her culture and heritage.
?Just last week, I was walking down the street with my mother, and I again found
myself conscious of the English I was using, the English I do use with her? (Tan,
2002, p. 36). The broken up English her mother uses is the next issue Tan focuses on.
??everything is limited, including people?s perceptions of the limited English
speaker? (Tan, 2002, p. 36). Lastly, she talksabout her education and the role it had
on her deciding what she wanted to do with her life. ?Fortunately, I happen to be
rebellious in nature and enjoy the challenge of disproving assumptions made about
me? (Tan, 2002, p. 39). By structuring the essay in order of importance, Tan reinforces
her message that you can be anything you desire even with a different culture than the
norm.
The main rhetoric appeal used by Tan is pathos, the appeal to emotion. Language
becomes an obstacle for Tan because her mother speaks limited English. Amy must be
an interpreter for her mother in instances where her mother cannot communicate
effectively. ?And sure enough, the following week there we were in

As (Atikoglu, Xu, Frachtenberg, Jiang, Paleczny, 2012) stated, the need for efficiently storing large scale data in scale out companies at lower cost is dramatically increasing. Therefore Key Value Store has occurred in popularity. (Fitzpatrick, 2004) has clarified that KV stores plays an essential role in lots of huge websites such as Facebook, Twitter, GitHub and Amazon. This paper reviewed 6 popular key value stores and distinguished primary features, performance and availability of each. A key value store database has a set of keys and values, and each value is associated with a key. The implementation of key value store database is actually a distributed hash table (Stonebraker, 04/2010). Key Value Stores(KV), which are normally known as a model of NoSQL databases, are widely deployed for data operation and management in purpose of enhancing Internet services due to better scalability, higher efficiency and more availability than existing relational databases systems (Wang, et al., 2014). SAHLMAN Amazon.com 2002 Jeff Bezos looked out the open doorway of his office and stared at the problem of the day, which his assistant Sarah had posted on the whiteboard in the hallway. It was Friday, September 13, 2002, and the whiteboard read: You have 10 bottles with 100 pills each in them. In nine of the bottles, each pill weighs 10 mg. In one bottle, each pill weighs 9 mg. These pills are poisonous. You have a digital scale that reads out in mg. Can you determine which bottle contains the poison with only one weight measurement? The company s point of difference, market share, and service capabilities are far greater in new products than used . . . we believe cannibalization is likely in the longer term.1 While the company had made dramatic strides in expanding the range of products it offered, there were still many categories in which it participated little or not at all. Thus, a key element of enhancing selection was to constantly expand the range of
  • 5. Drug Administration Case Study The order I would place the drug administration would start with Intravenous (IV) method, this method is taking the drug exactly to the vein and it enters the bloodstreams right then and to your brain. This method takes less than one minute. The next one I choose would be inhaling, this would be like inhalantdrugs. Inhaling is almost just as fast as IV druguse and goes quickly into your lungs to the bloodstream. Next would be snorting, I would say this because this method is felt in two minutes unlike the other drugs I previously listed. Snorting is through the mucous membranes of a powdered drug like cocaine. Smoking is the next method and it not the same as inhaling nitrous oxide which is confusing to me. Then there is swallowing, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is only a slightly difference from the people who abuses the drug grade point average (GPA), versus the people who do not take the drug at all. So there is a worldwide theory that the drug Adderall is a smart pill and it does not enhance thinking or focusing for people who does not have ADHD. Although Adderall may help them stay awake but it also has side effects such as, nervousness, dizziness, restlessness, headache and decreased appetite. Just in the year 2010, there was total number of 18 million Adderall prescriptions1. • 6. Compare And Contrast Beowulf And Sir Gawain And The Green... In ancient literature, the protagonist of different stories often times shares many great attributes that made them into a hero. Both Beowulf and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight provide the reader with the traditional portrayal of a classical hero. Beowulf tells the story of a warrior from Geats who has a history of being dominant over monsters and beasts. His immaculate reputation leads him to be called upon in the city of Danes in order to defeat Grendel, a monster that is murdering civilians every night. He successfully defeats Grendel, and Beowulf is forced to go face Grendel s mothers. His luck seems to be never ending when he finds a sword that allows him to kill Grendel s mother and decapitate Grendel and take his head as a prize to the Danes. Beowulf grows old in the city of Geats but does not perish until he is forced to face one more beast. Beowulf dies in his battle with the beast but only after having delivered a fatal blow to the dragon. Much like in Beowulf, Sir Gawain and the Green Knightpresents a character, Sir Gawain, that possesses much bravery and respect among his peers. When the king is faced with a challenge from the green knight, Sir Gawain is quick to step in front of the king and take on the challenger. The challenge that the knight presented was that Gawain could deliver one blow to the green knight, but the knight could deliver one blow a year and a day later. The green knight of course survives the blow and the story tells of Gawain s travel to

The Definition Of Theatre In The 18th And 19th Century The word Theatre originates from the Greek word theatron, which means seeing place, therefore describing theatre as a place where you go see things. The hardware being definitions like indicating where films are shown or metaphorically refers to a place where wars and surgeries occur like theatreof operations The software definition of theatre describes the activity involved in theatre like the group of people that compose plays. The theatre building used to be small open spaces where the people performed and spectators watched. As it grew in popularity, theatres needed to be remodeled and made big enough to sit everyone. The audience would be located would be in an elevated area and the actors below. Roman theatres were elaborate and embellished with marble carvings and gilded columns. Theaters built in the 18th and 19th century are still open and operating today. Theatres are fundamental to urban architecture as well as to contemporary life. Theatre involves a very large group of people working together on a single performance. These groups can be called companies or troupes that tour cities to present a play. These companies are self contained production units capable of writing, preparing and presenting works to a point where some have become legendary, like the Lord Chamberlain s Men of London, which Shakespeare was a part of. Theatre is also the occupation of its practitioners.

Paid Employment in the Home Essay Paid Employment in the Home In her book The Second Shift, Arlie Hochschild describes how two job married couples in the United States deal with the structural problem of the domestic work shift, i.e., that when both members of a marriage work outside of the home, the domestic work becomes an added burden to one or both of the members in addition to their outside jobs. Modern society has increased the work load of the family, thereby increasing tension in marriages and taking away time for leisure and recreation for both spouses. However, the 40 percent increase conveys the drastic growth of the home work population, which seems to be generalizable to smaller sub groups of the home work population as defined below. Because this movement back into the home is relatively new and because of its current relatively small size, it is difficult for social scientists to get large enough samples to make judgments about the characteristics of home work (Kraut 1989). Home work is seen in the current literature in both highly optimistic and strongly negative terms, and the size of the work at home population has been described as less than 2 percent of the U.S. labor force (Shamir 1992, p. 280) and nearly one quarter of the labor force (Farmanfarmaian 1989, p. 37). These contradictions are due to both the size of this group of workers, as mentioned earlier, and a lack of agreement between researchers on a definition of the home worker (for example, how many hours of work at home per week, working out of the home vs. working at home, etc.). Robert Kraut (1989) groups home workers into 3 categories: substitutors, the self employed, and supplementers. Substitutors are those who work at home regularly, either full time or part time, as a substitution for working in an office. They can be subcontractors or participants in a corporate work at home

This type of leadership usually involves support to the subordinates, trusting that the subordinates can work without much supervision and a friendly environment between the leaders and the subordinates. By the use of these behaviors, the people in the team get the opportunity to give their best. This is because these leaders develop a good communication channel that involves everybody participating in decision making. • 21. Walter Mitty Character Analysis Walter Mitty s Dominant Secret Life (Rough) Written by James Thurber, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, is the story of Walter Mitty s day in the city daydreaming of many scenarios of him being a hero and having power and fame. Between each of his daydreams, he is interrupted repeatedly by the real life in a rude fashion by his wife and other characters in the city, ending his daydreams. In The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, many interpret that many of the supporting characters look down on Walter Mitty. In his daydreams, Mr. Mitty is seen as being superior to others and well respected by people, showing him to be dominant over all other characters both in his daydreams and the real life. Walter Mitty s relationship with his wife is one of the more unusual relationships that you would find during the late 30s. As the bible says, For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. (Ephesians, 5:23), but, in the story, the husband, Walter Mitty is inferior to Mrs. Mitty. [...] Walter Mitty is henpecked. Whether chastising her husband for driving too fast, reminding him he is no longer young, badgering him into wearing his gloves and overshoes, making him drive to a garage to have his car chains removed, ordering him to wait for her at the drugstore, or accusing him of hiding from her in the hotel. (Blythe, 111). This can tell us that Mrs. Mitty is treating her husband as an incapable older man, because she thinks that he can t remove the chain on his car or constantly nagging him about putting on his gloves and buying overshoes, and as a young brat because she reminds him to not drive too fast, and accusing him of hiding from her in the hotel sitting on a chair like a child. Mrs. Mitty brings up that Walter Mitty might have some mental problems and that he needs to go see their family doctor, Dr. Renshaw, It s one of your days. I wish you d let Dr. Renshaw look you over. (Thurber, 1) This indicates that Walter Mitty is someone that gets regularly checked by their family doctor because of a medical problem or an old age. Walter Mitty thinks that the Parking Lot Attendant are scorning him since after snapping out of his second fantasy, the

As of now if you indeed choose not to enroll in Obamacare and do not pay your fines the fee will be taken out of your income tax return by the IRS. After all, if nobody enrolls Obamacare will fail. • 23. Biological And Most Aggressive Type Of Brain Malignancy Recent studies including a genome wide study of certain cancers have come to demonstrate that the most common and most aggressive type of brain malignancy, or glioblastoma (GBM) comprises a shared link: alterations in the catalytic protein, isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) (1). The focus of such research is the mutant forms of NADP dependent homologous enzymes IDH1 and IDH2 (2) localized predominantly in cytosolic and mitochondrial regions, respectively. Both of these heterozygous point mutations modify the amino acidresidue present at the active site of the original enzyme. Subsequently, neomorphic activity of the enzyme IDH is established, replacing its original function with the conversion of the О± Ketoglutarate (О± KG) to D 2 hydroxyglutarate (D 2 HG), an oncogenic metabolite (3). The presence of IDH1/2 mutants in cells is consistent with abnormally high levels of this tumor progressor, D 2 HG, which inhibits catalytic proteins that are О± KG dependent (4). As a result, D 2 HG indirectly influences epigenetic regulation, the formation of collagen as well as histone methylation. Transgenic mouse models are now advancing to provide insight into the effects of IDH mutations in tandem with other cooperating mutations better understand glioma pathogenesis (5). The biochemical pathways involved in IDH mutant forms (IDH1m, IDH2m) reveal that a substitution of the arginine residue 132 with histidine is responsible for the pathogenic changes due to IDH1 mutations (6) (Figure 1).

An amazing woman, O Connor s accomplishments are many. After, surprisingly, being accepted into Stanford law school, O Connor graduated third in her class of 102 in 1952 (Institute 2000). • 28. Thatcher and Thatcherism Essay Thatcher and Thatcherism It is now twenty years since Margaret Thatcher was elected Prime Minister of Great Britain, and over eight years since she left office. So this seems a good opportunity to look back at what Thatcher and Thatcherism may have achieved, and what may be the lessons for today. I must start with a disclaimer. I m the British High Commissioner and normally speak on behalf of the British Government in Australia. But I hope you will realise that in addressing a subject such as this I am speaking in a personal capacity. I am not quite sure what the Foreign Office would say if I asked them for the official line on Thatcherism. Given some of their run ins with her on foreign policy,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But the bulk of my career was in fact working for Ministers who to a greater or lesser extent fell out with her. Nigel Lawson, who was Chancellor of the Exchequer, and in many ways one of those who most closely shared her philosophy on freeing markets and on cutting spending and taxes. But who disagreed with her strongly on exchange rate policy and on the poll tax, leading eventually to his resignation. And then I worked for John Major, when he was Prime Minister, and in effect her anointed successor. But who found it hard sometimes to cope with the voices off from Mrs Thatcher or her friends criticising him for not following her policies or her advice. So I welcome this opportunity to step back and reflect on Thatcher and Thatcherism. By any standard, she is a remarkable figure. The longest serving British Prime Minister this century. The only one to have won three successive General Elections and indeed she was never defeated at a General Election. The only woman Prime Minister. The only one with an ism associated with her. I want to concentrate on her period as Prime Minister. But I first should put it in context by setting out some of the background. For she became Prime Minister at a time when some of the accepted nostrums that had guided British

In order to determine whether or not the solution will shift left or right with respect to equilibrium, it is based on Cl . However, when silver nitrate was added to bis(tetraethylammonium), it showed that Cl was reduced in the given solution. This ultimately caused the synthesis of the product turned it a pink color. When given a blue color, it was determined that tetraethylammonium Chloride was involved with the stock solution, which ultimately caused the Cl to form the reactants. Finally, based from the results, it is shown that CoCl4 2 is blue, and Co(H20)6 2+ is pink. Since we now have determined the two different colors of Cobalt, we can now find constant K. With the help of the spectrophotometer, the absorbance of the stock solutions were measured at 656nm and 519nm respectively. The concentration was determined with the help of Beers Law and the extinction coefficient of each wavelength. Finally, the equilibrium constant was .327x10^ 7. McSorley case, McSorley was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, his hockey stick. McSorley struck Donald Brashear in the back of the head with his stick in the last seconds of the game (Lawless, 2016). McSorley claimed not to have intended to hit Brashear in the head, but simply the shoulder (R. v. McSorley, 2000). This makes the intention in this case a real issue. McSorley used the defence of recklessness (R. v. McSorley, 2000). Recklessness is where a person knew, or ought to have known, that the conduct would likely cause serious injury to another (Corbett et al., 2008, Pg.45). McSorley claimed to not have intended the outcome or striking the head, but he did the action knowing the outcome could be an injury (R. v. McSorley, 2000). Marc Crawford the head coach of the Vancouver Canucks stated there was no chance for Donald to expect that it was coming...it was significant force. (R.v. McSorley, 2000, Pg.8). It is very clear that Donald did not consent to the force of the overtly violent act. There are defences that can be used when charged with criminal assault and they are: lack of intent to inflict harm, defence from an attack, and an instinctive reaction (Corbett et al., 2008, 41). Not included in the list of defences is provocation because it cannot be used as a credible defence to assault (Corbett et al., 2008). McSorley and his defence of recklessness were stricken down based on the fact that even a small child would not have missed hitting another person in the shoulder instead of the head if that was their true intention (Lawless, 2016). Eventually McSorley was found guilty of assault with a weapon and was given probation, a suspension from the NHL and never played again (Lawless,

It also references one of my favourite books Flowers for Algernon. The smooth blend of jazz and hip hop instrumentals as well as the melodic tune of the piano, complemented by the rough voices of Cise Starr and Akin make this song very enjoyable. In that way, we first sort out all the possible pokerhand combinations for one player, figuring out the possibility for each starting hand to form a specific poker hand. Then, we analyze the opponent s winning probability given the five cards we already known. Based on the winning probability and pot odds, a wiser player could bet with more information and confidence through the whole process rather than focus only on the current situation and decides blindly on that.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The program of the project is designed to compute the probability for Player A and Player B based on the probabilities we covered in the tables above in 3.2.2 and 3.2.3. Its purpose is to simplify the process of finding out the probabilities so that the project is more user friendly. The program we shown here calculate one condition in 3.2.2 as an example, input five numbers range from 1 to 52 that represents five cards that makes Player A poker hand is Full house, the program will conduct an operation to find out the suit and rank represented by this number. Then, knowing the five cards with their suit and rank, the program will check the validity of the input by counting the number of cards that have the same rank and proceeds to the next stage if input is valid. The second stage of the program is to calculate the probability for Player B to win by categorize the poker types of the input first and match the correspondent probability formulas then to work out the precise number for Player B. Generally speaking, the project has successfully achieved the goal of calculating the probability for a Heads up Limit Texas Hold em Poker between Player A and Player B in the stage of flop. It covers all the possible conditions of Poker hand types when five cards are known by single player, and gives the probability to help the player make the best decision in the stage of flop with much more information than opponent so they could bet on the odds wisely to outperform the opponent in the long run. However, the project do have its limitations due to its method as we concluded in 3.1, and the program for the project is not complete due to its complexity

Its profit margin is higher than all the other services provided (66%), and has huge growth potential. It has both great speed and reliability, making a service worth promoting. Customer Analysis: Currently, executives and their assistants are mainly using CP. The top three industries that use CP are Manufacturing and distribution, Advertising, and Printing and publishing. According to Exhibit 6, the market size of emergency, rush, or special handling delivery of small items/documents was around 870,000 per day. CPs are economically viable. Sales currently average ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Adding 4700 more daily CP would amount to $38,775 in profits per day, assuming a profit margin $8.25. Competition: Competition for CP lies in the Emergency and Rush services. Emergency services received maximum speed and was the most costly. Purolator Courier Corporation, Shulman Sky Cab, Delta Dash are all companies that provide the service. However, the average Emergency service cost was $30, and CPs cost significantly lower. The average Rush cost was around $10, and although CPs are most expensive, they are at a competitive price by offering competitive advantages. The most specific service competitor is U.S. Postal Service s Express Mail, which costs $6.00 per package. How should FEC market CP? Which industries should FEC focus on? FEC should market to those who are not Executives, as they already have them as customers, but rather any and all industries. The Manufacturing and Distributing industry uses the most CP monthly, and we would like to see the other similar industries use just as much. Any industry that transports small goods can utilize the service. The 5 minimum purchase costs $62.50, which creates a barrier for those who are willing and able to send something within a tight time constraint. Envelopes should be provided for free, and charged upon the actual service of mailing out the package. Corporations enjoy flexibility. We believe that CPs should be marketed as a product that is great for reliability and speed, making a point that they

But credit cards are growingly becoming a matter of immense concern thanks to the problem of card debt. The problem of credit card debt arises when consumers buy something swapping their card but are unable to repay the moneyto the card company within the stipulated time period. Moreover, when consumers purchase things using this form of plastic money, they actually end up paying more than they would otherwise have because apart from paying the price of the goods and services availed of, they also have to pay a complex rate of interest that keeps adding up each month and thereby the credit card debt too transforms in to a huge and often unbelievable figure. In fact when companies realize that a customer is nearing bankruptcy they may also make offers for a fresh deal to the consumer that help to relieve him of some of his debt burden and at the same time the companies too can maintain their profit levels. Another form of card debt relief is to consolidate the different debts in to one loan and use the loan money to pay off the multiple credit card debts with different interest rates and penalty rates. In this way the consumer is relieved from complex interest rates and penalties and has to pay off only a single loan which makes calculations easier and even penalty is not charged in this case. Also mostly, the interest charged on such loan is lower than in the case of credit cards. It is true that debt bogs most of us down but now there are many smart ways of managing your credit card debt in a way that it cannot get the better of

Despite that, there are certain aspects of life that simply can only be seen in a pessimistic way if they do not fit one s expectations. Something that follows this pattern is marriage. If the husbandand wifedo not have good chemistry, their marriage simply will end in disaster. One instance of marriage being showcased in this grim manner can be seen in the play A Doll s House by Henrik Ibsen. Despite some hope appearing in the relationship between Nora and Torvald Helmer, ultimately, the play paints a gloomy picture on marriage. Ibsen expresses the theme of gender inequalities within marriage through... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The usage of the tarantella within the play can symbolize the controlling nature of the husband,Torvald, in the marriage. Nora purposely dances in a way that displeases him, in an attempt to get him to not find out about a forgery she committed. Seeing her drastic dancing, Torvald states, No, no, that s all wrong (204) and attempts to force her to dance in a manner he prefers. This is an example of the tarantella being used to symbolize an inequality within their marriage. At this point in the play, Krogstad, a disgruntled employee of Torvald s, placed a letter blackmailing Nora within his employer s mailbox, so Nora, knowing she has no power to control Torvald s actions, has to purposely dance the tarantella in a ferocious way in order to distract her husband from opening his mailbox. Now, if this marriage was founded on equality, Nora should have been given access to the mailbox or at least, she should have been able to directly admit her past illegal forgery for Torvald s sake, rather than resort to dancing in order to distract him. An alternate meaning for the symbol of the tarantella can be the sexual expectations and objectifying of women within the marriage, as while attempting to have sexual intercourse with Nora, Torvald states, I see you still have the tarantella in your blood it makes you more enchanting than ever (215). Torvald also goes on to talk about his fantasies, and how the tarantella makes him desire her. Nora clearly does not want to have intercourse, but Torvald retaliates with Don t want to ? I m your husband, aren t I? (215). Torvald expects Nora to oblige to his command and objectifies her. In a marriage founded on equality, this objectifying and forcing of someone to follow one s will would simply not occur, as these are examples of inequality between two peoples. In conclusion, through the symbol of the

However, they are more common in younger children (affecting about 5 8% of younger children). Fortunately, most younger children will outgrow these food allergies by the time that they are three years old. Symptoms of a food allergies can often include wheezing and difficulty in breathing, along with itchy skin rashes, including hives, vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain and swelling around the mouth and in the throat (common with nut allergies). These symptoms usually develop fairly quickly after a child ingests the food that they are allergic to, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If anyone notices that a child develops symptoms after being exposed to certain foods, then the child should avoid such foods. The most common foods that can cause allergies include: peanuts, tree nuts (walnuts, pecans, etc.), fish, shellfish, eggs (especially egg whites), milk, soy, and wheat. Keeping a diary for a few weeks and recording what foods a child has been eating, especially new foods, and when they develop symptoms may help figure out what they are allergic to. This is often what professionals encourage families to do to get to the true cause of what is making them so ill. Once it has been determined what a child is allergic to, it is important to learn to read food labels because the food a child is allergic to may be an ingredient of many other foods. They should also avoid eating foods that may have been prepared using equipment that was also used to prepare the types of food that the child is allergic to. When trying to determine what a child is allergic to, parents often incorrectly assume that if they have eaten a food before and not had problems, then they are probably not allergic to that food. Parents usually only suspect new foods as being able to cause a food allergy. However, it is important to keep in mind that it takes time for the immune system to build up a reaction against something that the body is

Business Intelligence Concept 1.0 Summary With the advent of economic globalization and information era, the environment of enterprise is more complex and the competition of market is more intense, the organizational structure of the enterprise is also more and more complex. In this environment, enterprises want to request to the survival and development must have efficient operation, the right decisions and quick response. This requires a tool to help enterprises to produce large amounts of data in the process of operation and data collection, consolidation, analysis and assessment and then make a correctly predicted basis of these processes, so as to realize that transform data to information, information to knowledge and knowledge to profit for enterprises (Nemati, 2004). Therefore, business intelligence was born. • 52. Essay On Nanowires Abstract This paper provides an overview of the ongoing developments and research efforts on nanowires. It is a brief survey of the types of materials used and the applications associated with nanowire research. It is a method combining laser ablation, cluster formation and vapour liquid solid growth (VLS). In this process, laser ablation was used to prepare nanometer diameter catalyst clusters that define the size of wires produced by VLS growth. This approach was used to prepare bulk quantities of uniform single crystal silicon and germanium nanowires with diameters of 6 20 and 3 9 nm. Studies carried out with different conditions and catalyst materials confirmed the central detail of the growth mechanisms and suggests that face ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology Krishnadevarayanagar, Hunasamaranahalli, Bangalore 562 157 India (prakriti.adhya97@gmail.com) II. NANOWIRE SYNTHESIS Many of the papers included in this survey concentrated on methods or materials used to synthesize nanowires. Most nanowire synthesis occurs via Vapor LiquidSolid (VLS) processes. VLS processes use a liquid catalyst to draw components out of a vapor phase and deposit them in a solid phase. While terms such as laser ablation and chemical vapor deposition may often be used to describe the synthesis technique used in a particular experiment, this commonly refers only to the means by which the vapor phase is produced or transported. For example, laser ablation uses a laser to vaporize a source material, forming the vapor phase that is absorbed and later deposited by the catalyst droplet as the nanowire grows. Silicon nanowires often are synthesized through VLS processes [1 3]. Specifically, a substrate is coated with gold nanoparticles and then heated until the gold melts and forms tiny droplets. A silicon containing vapor, typically silane, or SiH4, is then passed over the substrate. At the vapor gold interface, silicon atoms are stripped from the silane and are absorbed into the nanoparticles. When the saturation limit of silicon in gold has been reached, the silicon precipitates out of the droplet onto the substrate. This precipitate builds up and lifts the catalyst away from the substrate, giving

She wants the audience to know right away that even though she is about to tell you the story of a difficult childhood, she did reach her goal in the end. After making this statement, Tan dives into her past and how she came to be where she is today. Her mother is the next most important point of discussion. Her mother influenced her writing style as well as her beliefs about her culture and heritage. ?Just last week, I was walking down the street with my mother, and I again found myself conscious of the English I was using, the English I do use with her? (Tan, 2002, p. 36). The broken up English her mother uses is the next issue Tan focuses on. ??everything is limited, including people?s perceptions of the limited English speaker? (Tan, 2002, p. 36). Lastly, she talksabout her education and the role it had on her deciding what she wanted to do with her life. ?Fortunately, I happen to be rebellious in nature and enjoy the challenge of disproving assumptions made about me? (Tan, 2002, p. 39). By structuring the essay in order of importance, Tan reinforces her message that you can be anything you desire even with a different culture than the norm. The main rhetoric appeal used by Tan is pathos, the appeal to emotion. Language becomes an obstacle for Tan because her mother speaks limited English. Amy must be an interpreter for her mother in instances where her mother cannot communicate effectively. ?And sure enough, the following week there we were in
