To Kill A Mockingbird Hatred Quotes
Hatred
Racism is man s gravest threat to man the maximum of hatred for a minimum of reason, said Abraham
Joshua Heschel, scholar and philosopher. This quote from Abraham means that racism and hatred aren
t doing anything but hurting us in the end by causing wars, arguments, and hurt feelings. Hatred can
be seen in everyday life and in every single person on Earth, but can t be stopped because you can t
change people s feelings. Hatred is also shown in To Kill a Mockingbird, The Absolutely True Diary
of a Part Time Indian, The Merchant of Venice, and in the Holocaust.
Hatred was shown multiple times in the Merchant of Venice. The first example of hatred was when
Antonio spit on Shylock shown by the quote, You call me ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Atticus said this after Bob spit in Atticus s face because he didn t like Atticus defending Tom and by
trying to prove Bob s daughter guilty. Bob also said that he would get him if it took the rest of his life
after he spit. Bob obviously showed hatred by what he did in that part. The last example from To Kill
a Mockingbird is when Mr.Radley shot at the kids when they trespassed onto his property. He had a
reason for shooting it but he obviously showed hatred to anyone that stepped foot on his property.
The first example of hatred shown in The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian is when Rowdy
cuts off the Andruss Brothers braids and eyebrows after they beat up Junior. This is shown by the
quote, I m going to kill those bastards, said Rowdy (Alexie, 21). Rowdy definitely showed hatred
because cutting off someone s braids on a reservation like that is a big deal when they take such pride
in their braids. Hey, Chief, Roger said (Alexie, 64). This quote comes from the part where Roger
makes a racist joke and Junior feels he has to fight him. Junior shows hatred towards Roger by saying
that the joke was the most racist thing that he has ever heard and by punching him in the face. Another
example of hatred from the book is when Junior tells Rowdy he is leaving and Rowdy gets mad at him
and refuses to talk to him. When you get that mad at your best friend you are definitely showing
hatred. The first example of hatred in the

What Is Sexism
Sexism is a form of discrimination that harms both males and females. Sexism is not only practiced in
culture but it is reinforced in schools through hidden curriculum. In order for the this issue to be
eradicated you need to make people aware that gender discrimination still exist in todays society. This
essay will discuss the issue of sexism. Sexism is a human rights concern as it violates rights of women
by not being treated equally and violates the right to freedom of expression for men. Gender role
stereotypes are socially constructed by society following the view of functionalism, conflict theory
and symbolic interaction. There are two types of sexism benevolent sexism and hostile sexism that
affects both genders. Sexism impacts negatively on education in regards to girls, causing girls to feel
uncomfortable, unwelcomed and scared and leads to them dropping out of school. Examples provided
discusses some peoples experiences of being victims of sexism. To address the issue of concern the
Department of Education must provide workshops and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A few examples of such incidents I will mention in my essay will include experiences of my own,
family members and friends. The first time I picked up on people being sexist was when I started to
notice how differently my brother and I were treated. For example my brother was allowed to go out
at night, stay over at his friends house, do as he pleases, wake up late and does not have to answer
anybody about what he is doing or where is going. On the other hand I had to wake up early clean up
after my brother make breakfast for him and I, do housework and I was not allowed to go anyway at
night and had to ask for permission before making any decision. I did everything unquestionably
without complain because this is what a girls duty is according to society. The other reason was
because I feared the consequences and appreciated what I

My Favourite Actress
I could not wait till I got home today; today was the awards show and my favorite actress was
nominated for so many things. This actress also happened to be my best friend. Ever since high
school, her and I have been unstoppable. I made sure she never quit trying to become an actress which
was part of the reason she is where she is today. She had been in so many movies that came out this
year and each performance as graceful as the last. Unfortunately I couldn t attend the event with her
because I had an important meeting with my boss to go to earlier in the day and wouldn t be able to
get there in time. I got home and made popcorn to go along with the show. Before I got the chance to
eat any of it or even turn on the tv a knock was heard from my door. I opened it to see a bunch of my
friends with food and drinks and smiles on their faces. I told them not to throw a party at my house but
they seem to not listen. As they came barging in, they took up seats and then waiting for me to sit
down. I sat and we turned the tv on and waited for my best friend to win all the awards she possibly
could, all of which she rightfully deserved. The host of the show came to begin the show but had a
confused look on her face. Something was wrong with the tv equipment and they were telling her this.
Many people came and took her off the stage; a glance of a camera shot on my friend and she had a
very frightening face on. What was happening? Suddenly the tv projected the entirety of a white

Homeless Children Business Plan
We were happy that the Student Council approved our proposal and gave us $150 to spend on our
baked goods. After our meeting with Graduate Assistant, Farah, Kirsten drove us to the Big Y to buy
our supplies. We brought different color of sugar sprinkles, frosting and baking sheet, foil, cookie mix
and brownie mix. It took us approximately 30 minutes to gather all our supplies and go to the register.
When the total was over our budget ($150), we were astonished. We did not buy anything that was too
expensive, every item was under $5. We did not expect the total cost of everything to exceed over
$150. We decided to buy all the supplies, even if it meant that we have to pay extra from our pockets.
Later, we sorted out the supplies for team one and team two. Justine, Luke and I planned to bake sugar
cookies, and brownies in the Maywood kitchen while Kirsten and Jessi planned to bake cake pops and
chocolate chip cookies in the Dodd kitchen.

Cake pops and banana bread were very popular among our customers. We sold a cake pop for $2,
brownie for $1, banana bread for $1, chocolate chip cookie for $1 and decorated sugar cookies for $1.
The organization, Horizon for Homeless Children, gave us flyers, key chains, card holders, and
Frisbees for our bake sale. We decided to use key chain, card holders, and Frisbees as an incentive for
people to buy more. Therefore, if someone spend $3 or more, you can choose one of the items. This
strategy worked because we some people only wanted to buy one thing, but when they heard about the
three dollar bundle, they paid an extra money to pick something from the three items. Moreover, we
received a lot of compliments on our banana bread and cake pops. On our third day, one of the
workers from the organization visited us and she was impressed with our work. Altogether, the bake
sale was a success. We raised more than $300 and our goal was $

Essay about Avengers Assemble (Loki and Black Widdow
Jennifer Reed
The Avengers Assemble Essay
The Avengers Assemble Film (2012), directed by Joss Whedon, is a superhero film which is produced
by Marvel Studios. The movie follows 7 iconic Marvel characters, Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Dr
Bruce Banner aka Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans),
Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson). All
the characters join together on their mission to save the Earth from the villain, Loki (Tom Hiddleston).
The film is set on a spaceship. The budget for the film was $220,000,000 and managed to get 1.5
billion box offices. In the essay I will be analysing the scene where Black Widow Interrogates Loki in
the Prison. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though when both characters walk backwards and sit down while having their conversation, the
power is equal between because of their body posture is at an equal level. The lighting on Widow s
face is shadowed while talking about her past, whereas Loki s face and body is high lit. This shows
that he still may have the upper hand. When he speaks the camera is on him and it is also a long shot
which emphasises the prison he is kept in. Compared to the prison, Loki seems very small and lost
whilst in it. This puts forward that he is actually not as powerful as he makes out to be, it shows that
he is the one really exposed and the lighting all around and on him suggests that all his true colours
are being revealed. Through out this section of the scene, their tones of voice are calm and equivalent,
so it s still uncertain who has the power. When Loki questions What are you now? Widow stands up
and folds her arms, so her posture is now closed which then directly suggests she now has the power,
and is not willing to reveal anymore about herself. Medium close up shot is used on Loki when he
reveals something he knows about her. Then it switches to Widow on a close up shot on her face to
emphasise her worried and shocked eye contact whilst Loki is speaking about her secrets. The more he
reveals the wider her eyes become to create an impact of fear. Loki then stands up to show that the
power has

Tips For A New Puppy Or Dog Home
When you bring a new puppy or dog home and you plan on keeping it inside most of the time you are
going to have to puppy proof your home. Otherwise you may return to a disaster after being gone for
work or a night out. Here are some tips to help. Before you bring your dog home remove anything at
ground level you want to keep. This can include shoes, game controllers, lamp cords or anything that
is below a 4 foot level. The reason for this is because your dog will think that anything in its reach is a
toy, worth eating or chewing up into shreds. Any paper, magazines, clothes or other normal objects
that people have in their home should be put up on a shelf or placed inside a closed closet. There is no
getting around this because if you leave your dog unattended inside your home it will surely get
separation anxiety and start to chew, tear or shred anything in its reach. Make sure that lower level
cabinets have child proof latches on them and never leave cabinets that contain cleaning solutions or
furniture wax open after each use. Even if you plan on leaving your dog outside when you leave you
will still have to keep an eye on it when you are home. Make sure that you reward good behavior with
a treat or lots of loving attention and bad behavior with a stern NO . You shouldn t beat or injure your
pet but a medium swat on the rump or nose with a loosely rolled paper will help in getting the dogs
attention. If you find yourself in a situation where the dog has destroyed

Eating Food For Dieters And Healthy Eaters
Salads are usually the go to food for dieters and healthy eaters. If you look up salad images in food
magazines or on the Instagram, you are bound to found tons of delicious looking recipes that are full
of colour and freshness. But the creations can often end up looking soggy and flat when you try them
at home. Not to mention how some of the salads we eat as health food are better classed as junk .
In this article, we ll help you learn the secrets to a healthy salad that s worthy of photographing.
3 Mistakes to Avoid
Below is a selection of the three biggest salad mistakes. These are quite common; so don t beat
yourself if you are guilty of making them
1. Wash and Toss the Salad in the Bowl
It s extremely important to properly was your salad ingredients, but you shouldn t add them in the
bowl soggy. Place your greens on top of some kitchen towel for a bit and toss them around until dry
before placing into your salad bowl. This guarantees a soggy free salad.
2. Using Three Familiar Ingredients
Most people tend to stick to salad ingredients they know. Instead of creating beautiful and colourful
salads with exciting combinations, they just add a bit of cucumber, salad leaves and some peppers.
But the salad shelves are full of vegetables and fruits, which should find their way into your salad.
Discover new ingredients at farmer s markets, where you can often have a taster of ingredients. Add a
mixture of salads, herbs, vegetables and even fruits to your salad for

Although research generally confirms that pay for performance plans can influence greater outcomes,
it is unclear how effective different pay plans are relative to each other (Park, 2012). Like most things
in business, compensation is something that requires evaluation, study, assessment, strategy, modeling
and integration. Achieving a pay for performance culture does not happen without paying attention to
the behaviors, activities, rewards and motivations that have to be linked and reinforced through a well
engineered and successfully executed process. Actually if that process does not tie rewards to
shareholder financial objectives, employ the proper mix of compensation elements, result in
meaningful dollars, embrace performance that employees can impact and are effectively
communicated and reinforced, then the results it produces will likely fall short (Vision Link Advisory
Group, 2013). A strategic plan for employee compensation

Lithium Ion Batteries Case Study
A123 Systems History of Lithium Ion Batteries Rechargeable battery evolution accelerated as the
world transitioned to instruments enabled by silicon microchip technology from those of bulky
electrical components. Mobile devices were designed to be powered by lightweight energy storage
systems. The development of batteries for this rapidly evolving market was challenging: The nickel
cadmium battery had been the only option for modern electronics for many years. It was a great
improvement over carbon batteries. Later, nickel hydride batteries became the technology of choice.
Lithium ion batteries became available in the 1990s, offering higher energy densities. This technology

American Revolution led France to a position of being susceptible to revolution, due to their

France s way of thinking, as it introduced revolutionary beliefs. Socially, Enlightenment ideas heavily
impacted the French Revolution in the sense that views of liberty reflected in Montesquieu s The
Spirit of the Laws as well as beliefs pertaining to revolution, mentioned in John Locke s Two Treaties
of Government can be directly linked to the Third Estate s desire to be represented in an equal manner
and the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen. Religiously, Enlightenment ideas weren t

Church s property to be nationalized and sold with hopes of financing the state. In addition, the
National Assembly granted Jews and French Protestants the right to practice their religion, which
corresponds with the Enlightenment idea of religious toleration. The social ideas of the Enlightenment
heavily impacted policies of the French Revolution through the concepts of liberty and revolution,

Carl Sandburg Writing Style
Spending his entire life developing the way he wrote, Carl Sandburg created a very distinct writing
style. He continuously traveled throughout his life, experiencing new things and people which shaped
his view and therefore his writing style. Because of this change in writing style throughout his life, he
wrote in both the Modern and Contemporary American literary time periods.
Contributing to this was his early fascination with language easily traced back to his time on the
Illinois prairie, where metaphors and idioms were used and everyday conversation held poetry
(Hacker 3). He was the son of two Swedish immigrants, August and Clara Sandburg. His mother
greatly encouraged reading and schooling, while his father did not see any reason for it (Cannato par.
7). Yet Sandburg dropped out of school while he was in eighth grade, and started to work odd jobs
such as: learning the tinner s business, washing bottles in a pop bottling works, learning the potter s
skill, working as a water boy, renting boats and selling refreshments, stacking ice for an ice company,
and working at the Williams Race Track. He also spent time as a hobo traveling across America.
While traveling, he collected folk songs and worked where he could. His father got him a free pass to
Chicago in 1896, his trip to the city inspired him and planted the seed for his work in poetry (Krull
and Hewitt). When Sandburg returned home, he told his older sister that, I m going away. I m going to

Theme Of Color In Tim Burton
Tim Burton s unique and captivating style paved the way to his success long before he became
famous. His use of color and close ups throughout his films connect the audience with his characters,
giving them someone to relate to. Burton uses this effect to convey the message that your not alone
because like you, everyone is an outcast, especially in the homogeneous society we live in. One of the
most recurrent cinematic techniques used in Tim Burton s films is color. He uses color is a variety of
ways to express the emotions within his characters. This is prevalent in his film, Charlie and the
Chocolate Factory. As the movie begins and we are being shown around his factory, Willy Wonka
opens a small, dull door to reveal an astonishing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After failure to sell any Avon products to her neighbors, Peg takes a desperate risk and decides to visit
Edwards mansion. As she drives down the road we watch her pass the innocent looking pastel houses
and head straight for the dark, threatening castle on the hill. These opposing colors evoke fear and
panic within the viewers. Feelings of discomfort flow throughout the audience as we watch Peg leave
her comfortable and safe life to venture through the unknown. Burton s use of color helped the
audience differentiate the abnormalities of Edwards mansion compared the normal lifestyle of Pegs
neighborhood. This not only told the audience that Edward is an outcast, but as the movie went on and
we grew a liking for Edwards character, it made us realize that being an outcast is better than being
someone your not. As we can see through all of these examples, his expertise with the use of color
assisted the connection between the characters and the audience s feelings.
Furthermore, Tim Burton is well known for his use of close ups throughout his films. Not only does
this technique bring attention to the characters emotions, but it helps these emotions flow throughout

Interview Process Of Aging
To learn more about the process of aging, I have decided to conduct an interview with a man who is
approaching his sixty fifth birthday in the upcoming December. The main goal of this interview was to
gain as many knowledges as possible on aging from an older adult. For the sake of this assignment I
will address the interviewee as Mr. P. P is the oldest sibling of three sisters and two brothers, who all
grew up in Jakarta, Indonesia and his father passed away when he was only ten years old. As the
oldest child in the family, P had the responsibility to be the backbone of the family and support his
siblings at a very young age. P had the privilege to attend elementary school from the first grade until

Reimbursement Model
I think that reimbursement system is one of the most important implements to maintain managed care
organization. However, there are various models accessible to manage hospitals or health care
associations to keep track of reimburse payment methods. As of carefully reading through the book, I
believe a basic model of reimbursement includes Fee for services, capitation, and salary. However,
each of these models is states differently and approached it differently. First, I believe a fee for
services model is very easy payment method and remain as very important form of reimbursement
model in the health maintenance organization. Physician or any health care provider receives payment
right after providing services or procedure has been done. However,

Cole Beasley Research Paper
Cole Beasley aka Cole World (as most Cowboys fans like to call him) is one of the much underrated
WR on offense. It s an understatement on how important he is to this offense. The Cowboys showed
how important he is by signing Beasley to a four year deal worth 13.6 million with seven million
guaranteed with four million signing bonus. Since DeMarco Murray left to go signed with that team in
Philadelphia there have been questions on who would the Cowboys would rely on those second and
fives, or third and fives. What people fail to realize about last season was how the Cowboys utilized
Cole Beasley on third down situations. Beasley is so electric with the ball in his hands that it s hard to

Music Censorship Pros And Cons
In today s politically correct world I m sure there s a lot of music censorship goes on in our nation or
in fact around the world. But in my post I chose to talk about something that I remember from when I
was younger and that was when the straight out of Compton album released by the group NWA. In
1988 a sub genre of music dubbed gangster rap come from the underground into American
mainstream, this type of music became quite popular among young African Americans in the inner
city of America. It wasn t until the music became popular with white suburban teenagers that the
public in general stood up and took notice to try and censor this particular genre of music. In 1985 a
committee was formed called the parents music resource Center (PMRC)

Marching Band As A Sport
Irene was a high school student involved in the marching band. Before high school, students bullied
Irene due to her weight of two hundred pounds. Irene played the clarinet, but she was not sure if she
wanted to join the marching band. The dark memories of people berating her physical appearance
scared her into thinking that her fellow band mates would do the same. Irene desperately wanted to get
into shape so she joined a sport, but knew she was not fit enough for any of the typical ball sports. She
eventually realized that the only sport remaining was marching band.
However, people argue that marching band is not a sport. What is a sport? According to Wood the
definition of a sport involves physical activity and skill where an individual/team competes against
another individual/team and has a set of rules or customs. Marching band is a sport because it involves
a lot of physical activity, rules and competition. The argument against categorizing marching band as a
sport is the typical conditioning a normal sports team would are slightly different.
Irene thought wrong about her teammates bullying her, instead they rallied around her and made her
feel welcome. With marching she was able to get into shape. In the process, she had made 120 or more
friends that she could count on. Marching band is a welcoming sport and open to everyone and anyone
who is willing to work. When someone is in marching band they are part of something big. The people

The Need for Empowerment
The American people feel powerless and are extremely uneducated in relation to politics government,
and the world around them. Civic participation is considered a fruitless measure in the minds many
American citizens. When interviewed on the subject; many depict themselves as a minute part of a
huge entity in which they have no control. Others expressed a lack of time and energy that it takes to
be involved, or a dependence on the country as a whole to make the right decisions. The
understanding of democracy and its principals are concepts of an unknown territory that is feared in
relation to a general lack of education on the subject. Therefore, civic participation continues to

Essay on Gang Reduction Program
In 2003 as a response to communities with a large amount and growing number of youth gangs the
Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), a branch of the U.S. Department of
Justice, initiated the Gang Reduction Program (GRP) (U.S. Department of Justice 2008). The
formation of gangs is seen as a response to system failures and community dysfunction. As a result,
one of OJJPD s anti gang initiatives is to make communities safer and have a pro social environment

The OJJDP has created a comprehensive, integrated, and coordinated program by incorporating a wide

Beach Erosion Essay
In December 2013, a massive tidal surge flooded 1,400 homes along the east coast of the U.K., which
has managed to destroy and tumble some of these houses into the Atlantic Ocean. Over the next
century, it is estimated that estates worth over 1 billion pounds will be lost due to the effects of coastal
erosion. And within the next 20 years, over 800 estates will be lost. Coastal erosion is the reduction of
material attached to the coastline by various natural or man led activities; coastal erosion leads to the
landward retreat of the coast. Coastal erosion endangers coastal civilisations livelihood and source of
income thus, defending it through efficient means is important as it stabilises the lives of the people
who inhabit the coast. To ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The groyne field was placed in conjunction with beach nourishment projects to stabilise a shore that
was eroding at a gradual rate before the groynes were built. Between 1929 and 1977, the shoreline
remained relatively stable. However, after 1977, the groynes became increasingly ineffective, and the
shoreline began eroding at much higher rates due to lack of maintenance. Today, the groynes are in
poor shape and have occasionally been flanked at their landward ends(?). Several massive winter
storms have since induced severe beach erosion and threatened to reverse the achievements of the
protective measures put into place in Bethany Beach. Furthermore, a 147 year record of shoreline
positions from 1850 1997 was used to evaluate the effectiveness of the groyne field at Bethany Beach
and assess its impact on the adjacent beaches. The results indicate that the combination of the groyne
field and beach fill have effectively stabilised the beach for nearly 50 years. However, the
deterioration of the groynes and a series of large winter storms has resulted in increased beach erosion
over the last 20 years in spite of multiple large scale beach nourishment projects. This analysis also
indicates that the combination of methods would fail without the groynes receiving constant and
efficient maintenance, regardless of whether the beach nourishment projects are continued or not.

The Iadb Will Be Post Colonialism And Liberal...
Sinister Intentions? A Theoretical Review The two theories that will be contrasted against the work of
the IADB will be post colonialism and liberal institutionalism. Post colonialism makes a strong
argument for the ability of the bank to abuse the developing countries of Latin America, as well as
predicting the very real examples of abuse from the bank on indigenous communities in the region.
Liberal institutionalism explains how the IADB promotes the interests of all involved and actually
helps the region facilitate further onnections with other international institutions. Post colonialism
views development banks such as the IADB as errant organisations imposing the will of wealthy, non
borrowing countries in the form of conditional funds. In academic literature as well as general public
perception, the World Bank and other multilateral development banks (MBDs) have long been viewed
as domineering organizations able to impose themselves upon developing countries, (humphrey)
which is the viewpoint that actually inspired the creation of the IADB. The IADB seems to subvert
this colonising attitude by having the majority of its decision making votes held by borrowing
countries and thus all impositions by the organisation are at the behest and in the interest of the region
itself. The entire culture of the IADB seems to be very pro Latin American policies, through consistent
presidency held by Latin American nationals (in order since its creation, presidents have been from

Nadine Gordimer on South Africa
In the twentieth century alone, the world has witnessed oppression in many places, like the South
African apartheid, which literally means apartness (Omond 11). Nadine Gordimer, an esteemed author
and South African native, has lived to see the injustice and conflict her country has experienced during
apartheid rule, which lasted just under a half century. Most of her literary work throughout the decades
of apartheid oppression united under the banner of freedom for the victims of apartheid. Her books
speaking on the dangers and horrors of apartheid, as well as a call for its dismantling earned her a

The family is living in luxury, ignorant to the chaos erupting outside of their suburb. They continue to
believe that all was well in the world, when the reality was just outside their trimmed hedges and

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED (Gordimer 190) on it, but when the wife exhibits fear of the colored
people, the husband s reply is equally as toxic: there are police and soldiers and tear gas and guns to

husband gives, buses were being burned, cars stoned, and schoolchildren shot by the police in those

foreshadowing of what is to come, and the actions of the family have direct consequences, in which
their former happily ever after turns to chaos because of their submission to apartheid ignorance. The
third irony is presented with the family s hired hands: they had a housemaid who was absolutely
trustworthy and an itinerant gardener who was highly recommended by the neighbors (Gordimer 190).
During apartheid, white South Africans generally accepted some of the native African peoples as their
housemaids and gardeners, only accepting them if they were responsible and submissive to

Insanity Defense Expectation
Feeling ill? Commit a crime, you are protected!
Criminal verdicts are always being watched by our community because citizens seek protection by
law enforcement. Although the criminal justice system has established a foundation which is expected
to promote public safety and punishment of criminals, they do not always live up to that capacity. One
aspect of this is the insanity defense expectation. Verdicts are revealed after analyzations of criminals
intent to commit crimes are determined. If it is proven that a person had no knowledge or sanity in
committing a crime or breaking a law, that person will not be punished nor charged as a criminal. I
strongly disagree with this method of decisions by our judicial system. No leeway should be available

Literacy and competency are essential to these criminal investigations. Any false allegations,
misjudgment or misunderstanding of the case can set a criminal free within seconds. The layman
claims that sane men are escaping responsibility for their crimes on the plea of insanity by reason of
the venality of experts, the strong and corrupt partisanship of counsel for the refense, and the
incompetency of the judge and the prosecuting attorney (Insanity and Criminal Responsibility). There
are many individuals who are involved in the sanctions of these cases and although they maintain
proper credibility, the cases will prosper according to their beliefs and findings. It is understood that
mental health professionals, physicians and psychologists stand ground in front of the jury with hopes
of proving the individual sane or insane. The insanity defense traces its roots back to the 1843
assassination attempt on British Prime Minister Robert Peel. In this case, a psychotic individual
named Daniel M Naghten intentionally and with premeditation killed an assistant to a prime minister
of England because he believed he was being persecuted. The defendant plead insanity at the trial. The
prosecution attempted to prove sanity by illustrating M Nagten s behavior in planning and executing
the attack. Several physicians testified as to the defendant s even though they never examined the
defendant; their conclusions were based on hearing the testimony and observing the defendant s
behavior. After the judge gave weight to the physician s opinion, the prosecution agreed to stop the
case and the defendant was declared insane (The John Hincklney Trial). In other words, insanity cases
are in the hands of professionals that are able to evaluate, analyze and conclude based on behavior,
excluding mental illness. Although these processes change drastically over time, the basis of the cases
will always be

How Does Realism And Idealism Affect Our International...
Amidst Political Idealism, Realism
The theories of realism and idealism are as old as politics, itself. There has always been one group
looking as things as they are, asking finite questions like how much will it cost, examining actions
over intentions and another group aiming for how things should be while asking is this morally right,
just or conscionable?. How does realism and idealism affect our international political landscape?
Although theory suggests that politicians operate from one camp or another, is it impossible to
navigate life supporting every initiative of one camp or another? One may in fact possess an idealistic
viewpoint or attitude overall but, cast a vote for a more realistic solution of a particular situation.
Evidence suggests that descriptors of realism and idealism are blurred lines, although it is in direct
conflict with the teachings of political science, which have not changed much since inception. ...one
cannot understand Hitler s Germany and Stalin s Soviet Union, the two most destructive states of the
twentieth century... Both regimes were driven by the desire to remake first their societies and then the
world. Neither took the state as the unit whose interests were to be served; no narrow self interest or
considerations of national security or even national gain could have led to such domestic slaughter and
dangerous expansions. Jervis, R. (1998). There are many examples of overlapping realism and
idealism. A group of realists and

African American Women s Leadership
After the seminary days, the women church ministers encounter numerous challenges as they begin
and carry on with their professional career. In modern African American churches, women s
leadership has shifted from the typical roles as leaders of women in missionary societies and groups to
congregational leaders like pastoral ministry and Christian education. In the current paper, the focus is
on the problems single women minister, pastor, preacher faces with dating or being in a relationship
and not married. The paper first briefly explores the contemporary women leadership in African
American churches, encumbrances to effective women s leadership, approaches to solving the
obstacles, notable contributions of African American women and lastly signs of hope and
encouragement.
African American women represent a significant proportion of congregation in most African American
churches. African American women make up about 66 88 percent majority in African American
churches though they are not well represented in the church leadership. The greatest variation that can
be observed in women s leadership is in the pastoral category. The situation is worse for unmarried
women who want to be church ministers, pastor or preacher but it becomes complicated for women
who are in relationships but not yet married. Nonetheless, unmarried women are still being ordained
and appointed as pastors and bishops at a growing rate. One of the remarkable appointment which also

mathematically paired in order to be able to encrypt and decrypt messages. Because they are

include that it is slow compared to symmetric encryption and the loss of the private key is an
irreversible and unreplaceable action. Despite these disadvantages, the advantages of asymmetric
encryption are its convenience in providing a solution for the distribution of the key found in
symmetric encryption, and the combination of public and private keys provides us a method of

The objective of this lab is to investigate the conservation of total energy. There are two parts to this
experiment: To investigate the conservation of energy for a ball that is launched upwards in a vertical
direction; and To investigate the principle of energy conservation using an air track and a glider.
For the first part, the principle of conservation of energy is investigated by launching a ball vertically
and comparing its total energy at the time of launch to its energy when it reaches its highest point. For
the second part, the principle of conservation of energy is tested out for an isolated system by
investigating how gravitational potential energy is transferred to kinetic energy for a glider (of mass

Psychoanalytic Criticism Of Sons And Lovers
David Herbert Lawrence was born September 11, 1885 in a small coal mining village in Nottingham,
England. He was the fourth child of Arthur and Lydia Lawrence. Arthur was a coal miner who worked

  • 2. To Kill A Mockingbird Hatred Quotes Hatred Racism is man s gravest threat to man the maximum of hatred for a minimum of reason, said Abraham Joshua Heschel, scholar and philosopher. This quote from Abraham means that racism and hatred aren t doing anything but hurting us in the end by causing wars, arguments, and hurt feelings. Hatred can be seen in everyday life and in every single person on Earth, but can t be stopped because you can t change people s feelings. Hatred is also shown in To Kill a Mockingbird, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian, The Merchant of Venice, and in the Holocaust. Hatred was shown multiple times in the Merchant of Venice. The first example of hatred was when Antonio spit on Shylock shown by the quote, You call me ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Atticus said this after Bob spit in Atticus s face because he didn t like Atticus defending Tom and by trying to prove Bob s daughter guilty. Bob also said that he would get him if it took the rest of his life after he spit. Bob obviously showed hatred by what he did in that part. The last example from To Kill a Mockingbird is when Mr.Radley shot at the kids when they trespassed onto his property. He had a reason for shooting it but he obviously showed hatred to anyone that stepped foot on his property. The first example of hatred shown in The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian is when Rowdy cuts off the Andruss Brothers braids and eyebrows after they beat up Junior. This is shown by the quote, I m going to kill those bastards, said Rowdy (Alexie, 21). Rowdy definitely showed hatred because cutting off someone s braids on a reservation like that is a big deal when they take such pride in their braids. Hey, Chief, Roger said (Alexie, 64). This quote comes from the part where Roger makes a racist joke and Junior feels he has to fight him. Junior shows hatred towards Roger by saying that the joke was the most racist thing that he has ever heard and by punching him in the face. Another example of hatred from the book is when Junior tells Rowdy he is leaving and Rowdy gets mad at him and refuses to talk to him. When you get that mad at your best friend you are definitely showing hatred. The first example of hatred in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. What Is Sexism Sexism is a form of discrimination that harms both males and females. Sexism is not only practiced in culture but it is reinforced in schools through hidden curriculum. In order for the this issue to be eradicated you need to make people aware that gender discrimination still exist in todays society. This essay will discuss the issue of sexism. Sexism is a human rights concern as it violates rights of women by not being treated equally and violates the right to freedom of expression for men. Gender role stereotypes are socially constructed by society following the view of functionalism, conflict theory and symbolic interaction. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A few examples of such incidents I will mention in my essay will include experiences of my own, family members and friends. The first time I picked up on people being sexist was when I started to notice how differently my brother and I were treated. For example my brother was allowed to go out at night, stay over at his friends house, do as he pleases, wake up late and does not have to answer anybody about what he is doing or where is going. On the other hand I had to wake up early clean up after my brother make breakfast for him and I, do housework and I was not allowed to go anyway at night and had to ask for permission before making any decision. I did everything unquestionably without complain because this is what a girls duty is according to society. The other reason was because I feared the consequences and appreciated what I ... • 4. My Favourite Actress I could not wait till I got home today; today was the awards show and my favorite actress was nominated for so many things. This actress also happened to be my best friend. Ever since high school, her and I have been unstoppable. I made sure she never quit trying to become an actress which was part of the reason she is where she is today. She had been in so many movies that came out this year and each performance as graceful as the last. Unfortunately I couldn t attend the event with her because I had an important meeting with my boss to go to earlier in the day and wouldn t be able to get there in time. I got home and made popcorn to go along with the show. Before I got the chance to eat any of it or even turn on the tv a knock was heard from my door. I opened it to see a bunch of my friends with food and drinks and smiles on their faces. I told them not to throw a party at my house but they seem to not listen. As they came barging in, they took up seats and then waiting for me to sit down. I sat and we turned the tv on and waited for my best friend to win all the awards she possibly could, all of which she rightfully deserved. The host of the show came to begin the show but had a confused look on her face. Something was wrong with the tv equipment and they were telling her this. Many people came and took her off the stage; a glance of a camera shot on my friend and she had a very frightening face on. What was happening? Suddenly the tv projected the entirety of a white ... • 5. Homeless Children Business Plan We were happy that the Student Council approved our proposal and gave us $150 to spend on our baked goods. After our meeting with Graduate Assistant, Farah, Kirsten drove us to the Big Y to buy our supplies. We brought different color of sugar sprinkles, frosting and baking sheet, foil, cookie mix and brownie mix. It took us approximately 30 minutes to gather all our supplies and go to the register. When the total was over our budget ($150), we were astonished. We did not buy anything that was too expensive, every item was under $5. We did not expect the total cost of everything to exceed over $150. We decided to buy all the supplies, even if it meant that we have to pay extra from our pockets. Later, we sorted out the supplies for team one and team two. Justine, Luke and I planned to bake sugar cookies, and brownies in the Maywood kitchen while Kirsten and Jessi planned to bake cake pops and chocolate chip cookies in the Dodd kitchen. We sold a cake pop for $2, brownie for $1, banana bread for $1, chocolate chip cookie for $1 and decorated sugar cookies for $1. The organization, Horizon for Homeless Children, gave us flyers, key chains, card holders, and Frisbees for our bake sale. We decided to use key chain, card holders, and Frisbees as an incentive for people to buy more. Therefore, if someone spend $3 or more, you can choose one of the items. This strategy worked because we some people only wanted to buy one thing, but when they heard about the three dollar bundle, they paid an extra money to pick something from the three items. Moreover, we received a lot of compliments on our banana bread and cake pops. On our third day, one of the workers from the organization visited us and she was impressed with our work. Though when both characters walk backwards and sit down while having their conversation, the power is equal between because of their body posture is at an equal level. The lighting on Widow s face is shadowed while talking about her past, whereas Loki s face and body is high lit. This shows that he still may have the upper hand. When he speaks the camera is on him and it is also a long shot which emphasises the prison he is kept in. Compared to the prison, Loki seems very small and lost whilst in it. This puts forward that he is actually not as powerful as he makes out to be, it shows that he is the one really exposed and the lighting all around and on him suggests that all his true colours are being revealed. Through out this section of the scene, their tones of voice are calm and equivalent, so it s still uncertain who has the power. When Loki questions What are you now? Widow stands up and folds her arms, so her posture is now closed which then directly suggests she now has the power, and is not willing to reveal anymore about herself. Medium close up shot is used on Loki when he reveals something he knows about her. Then it switches to Widow on a close up shot on her face to emphasise her worried and shocked eye contact whilst Loki is speaking about her secrets. The more he reveals the wider her eyes become to create an impact of fear. Loki then stands up to show that the power has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Tips For A New Puppy Or Dog Home When you bring a new puppy or dog home and you plan on keeping it inside most of the time you are going to have to puppy proof your home. Otherwise you may return to a disaster after being gone for work or a night out. Here are some tips to help. Before you bring your dog home remove anything at ground level you want to keep. This can include shoes, game controllers, lamp cords or anything that is below a 4 foot level. The reason for this is because your dog will think that anything in its reach is a toy, worth eating or chewing up into shreds. Any paper, magazines, clothes or other normal objects that people have in their home should be put up on a shelf or placed inside a closed closet. There is no getting around this because if you leave your dog unattended inside your home it will surely get separation anxiety and start to chew, tear or shred anything in its reach. Make sure that lower level cabinets have child proof latches on them and never leave cabinets that contain cleaning solutions or furniture wax open after each use. Even if you plan on leaving your dog outside when you leave you will still have to keep an eye on it when you are home. Make sure that you reward good behavior with a treat or lots of loving attention and bad behavior with a stern NO . You shouldn t beat or injure your pet but a medium swat on the rump or nose with a loosely rolled paper will help in getting the dogs attention. If you find yourself in a situation where the dog has destroyed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although research generally confirms that pay for performance plans can influence greater outcomes, it is unclear how effective different pay plans are relative to each other (Park, 2012). Like most things in business, compensation is something that requires evaluation, study, assessment, strategy, modeling and integration. Achieving a pay for performance culture does not happen without paying attention to the behaviors, activities, rewards and motivations that have to be linked and reinforced through a well engineered and successfully executed process. Actually if that process does not tie rewards to shareholder financial objectives, employ the proper mix of compensation elements, result in meaningful dollars, embrace performance that employees can impact and are effectively communicated and reinforced, then the results it produces will likely fall short (Vision Link Advisory Group, 2013). Lithium Ion Batteries Case Study A123 Systems History of Lithium Ion Batteries Rechargeable battery evolution accelerated as the world transitioned to instruments enabled by silicon microchip technology from those of bulky electrical components. Mobile devices were designed to be powered by lightweight energy storage systems. The development of batteries for this rapidly evolving market was challenging: The nickel cadmium battery had been the only option for modern electronics for many years. It was a great improvement over carbon batteries. Later, nickel hydride batteries became the technology of choice. Lithium ion batteries became available in the 1990s, offering higher energy densities. This technology won out nickel hydride. The lithium ion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was enthused by the self organizing battery concept and the opportunity for a battery with four times the energy density of the available lithium ion technology that could be charged one hundred times faster. Both Chiang and Fulop decided that the new venture would be an early stage company dedicated to further development of the self assembly battery. In addition, France continued to participate in the American Revolution, in order to get revenge on Britain, this conclusively backfired, as it brought liberal ideas to France and also pushed them further into their economic catastrophe. Ultimately, the Seven Years War and the American Revolution led France to a position of being susceptible to revolution, due to their plundering economic status and the new ideals brought forward. The Enlightenment also altered France s way of thinking, as it introduced revolutionary beliefs. Socially, Enlightenment ideas heavily impacted the French Revolution in the sense that views of liberty reflected in Montesquieu s The Spirit of the Laws as well as beliefs pertaining to revolution, mentioned in John Locke s Two Treaties of Government can be directly linked to the Third Estate s desire to be represented in an equal manner and the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen. Religiously, Enlightenment ideas weren t as impactful as social ideas. Although, the concept of rationalism was a major cause for the Catholic Church s property to be nationalized and sold with hopes of financing the state. In addition, the National Assembly granted Jews and French Protestants the right to practice their religion, which corresponds with the Enlightenment idea of religious toleration. • 15. Carl Sandburg Writing Style Spending his entire life developing the way he wrote, Carl Sandburg created a very distinct writing style. He continuously traveled throughout his life, experiencing new things and people which shaped his view and therefore his writing style. Because of this change in writing style throughout his life, he wrote in both the Modern and Contemporary American literary time periods. Contributing to this was his early fascination with language easily traced back to his time on the Illinois prairie, where metaphors and idioms were used and everyday conversation held poetry (Hacker 3). He was the son of two Swedish immigrants, August and Clara Sandburg. His mother greatly encouraged reading and schooling, while his father did not see any reason for it (Cannato par. 7). Yet Sandburg dropped out of school while he was in eighth grade, and started to work odd jobs such as: learning the tinner s business, washing bottles in a pop bottling works, learning the potter s skill, working as a water boy, renting boats and selling refreshments, stacking ice for an ice company, and working at the Williams Race Track. He also spent time as a hobo traveling across America. While traveling, he collected folk songs and worked where he could. His father got him a free pass to Chicago in 1896, his trip to the city inspired him and planted the seed for his work in poetry (Krull and Hewitt). Today, the groynes are in poor shape and have occasionally been flanked at their landward ends(?). • 26. The Iadb Will Be Post Colonialism And Liberal... Sinister Intentions? A Theoretical Review The two theories that will be contrasted against the work of the IADB will be post colonialism and liberal institutionalism. Post colonialism makes a strong argument for the ability of the bank to abuse the developing countries of Latin America, as well as predicting the very real examples of abuse from the bank on indigenous communities in the region. Liberal institutionalism explains how the IADB promotes the interests of all involved and actually helps the region facilitate further onnections with other international institutions. Post colonialism views development banks such as the IADB as errant organisations imposing the will of wealthy, non borrowing countries in the form of conditional funds. In academic literature as well as general public perception, the World Bank and other multilateral development banks (MBDs) have long been viewed as domineering organizations able to impose themselves upon developing countries, (humphrey) which is the viewpoint that actually inspired the creation of the IADB. The IADB seems to subvert this colonising attitude by having the majority of its decision making votes held by borrowing countries and thus all impositions by the organisation are at the behest and in the interest of the region itself. Niko has the option of either working with Dimitri Rascalov, a man who sold him out to a Russian crime lord, or killing Dimitri. If Niko works with Dimitri, he tries to kill Niko at Roman s wedding, and accidentally kills Roman. If Niko takes revenge on Dimitri and kills him, Niko s business partner kills Roman s wife for thwarting his plan.
