At the opening session of Agile Consortium Belgium online conference 2021, I created a space for connection and interaction, facilitating with Liberating Structures Impromptu Networking, Appreciative Interview, and 25/10 Crowdsourcing.

In Helping, Edgar H. Schein draws not only on his career expertise but from personal life experiences to establish a “general theory of helping” that holds true no matter what the social dynamics of the client/ helper relationship. Helping is a fundamental part of life: parents help their children, coaches their players, nurses their patients, managers their subordinates, yet despite its constant presence in daily life, the dynamics of giving and receiving help are poorly understood. When someone asks for help, they are temporarily lowering their own status and transferring status and power to the helper, creating an imbalanced relationship. Building a helping relationship means that the first client/helper interactions must be carefully managed by the helper toward building the client’s status up from their lower position and identifying which helping role to take vis-à-vis the client.

Whether you are replacing your performance reviews with 1 on 1s, or looking for ways for your managers to improve the 1 on 1s they already have, this is the deck for you.
We cover the latest research from places like Harvard and Stanford, as well as the timeless best practices great leaders like Andy Grove and Dale Carnegie have been using for decades.
This is another game that I have had great fun playing and also thought me an my clients a great deal. I use it as staple for all my intros to Lean and agile.
The goal of the game is to move 20 coins through a series of process step (aka players). Each player flips the coins once before it can be passed over.
The game shows very effectively how limiting the work in process (WIP) increases the throughput and improves lead times, both for the first coin and the total time for all 20 coins.
If you move through the game slides quickly a nice little animation effect takes place. Watching that actually gave me a new understanding of what Flow means. Compare the first and last iterations and see the coins flow through the process, each step creating value.

Abstract:
Did you ever wonder how to improve your testing skills? Well, I did. So I decided to run an experiment. My hypothesis: “I believe that pairing and mobbing with fellow testers from the community on hands-on exploratory testing and automation will result in continuously increasing skills and knowledge as well as serendipitous learning.
I’ll know I have succeeded when I noted down at least one concrete new insight or applied one new technique per testing session and shared that with the community.”
In this talk, I will share the lessons learned on my journey as well as tips for doing pair testing sessions yourself. Let’s uncover if my hypothesis proved true, that a testing tour is indeed a feasible and valuable way to improve your testing knowledge and skills!

The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing.
