It is a great pleasure for me to recommend Yang Hsin Yu for college application. I taught Hsin
Yu Mathematics Higher Level in year 6, equivalent of grade 12. She is the top student of my
class and is ranked among the top 10 in the cohort.She has an aptitudefor mathand has
proven herself as an efficient, independent learner with an inquiring mind, pursuing
knowledge of the subject beyond regular class assignments and tests.
A respectful and responsible individual, Hsin Yu displays great perseverance and
commitments in her undertakings, bothacademic learning and non-academic aspects. When
the advanced concepts on the topic of complex numberwere taught, Hsin Yu had some initial
struggles trying to understand them. She came preparedfor consultationsessions, knowing
exactly what to ask and setting clear objectives for the sessions. Despite initialdifficulties,she
persevered on withoutallowing the situationto undermine her learning and understanding. It
is worth noting that with the eventual understanding of these advanced concepts, she
continued to review them, and quite often her quality of enquiry far exceeds the expectation of
a year 6 studentof the mathcourse. Outside of the academic arena, Hsin Yu was an active
