Reference for Mr Husnucan Örk’s application of doctoral study
Mr Husnucan Örk was a student on the MSc in International Business at Leeds University Business School
between September 2013 and September 2014. He has graduated on 15 December 2014. As the programme
director of MSc International Business, and also the dissertation supervisor, I have known Mr Örk since
September 2013.
His credit grade average 7.34 and this equates to a distinction classification in the UK standard. This is an
excellent result and, in particular, his grade is ranked the 10th
from the top in the entire graduating cohort
(of 167 students).
From my conversations with Mr Örk he appears to be a very pleasant, driven, and mature individual and he
seems to be genuinely interested in his chosen academic subject. Mr Örk has shown particular strengths in
statistics, economics, and management related modules, achieving excellent grades, for example, in
LUBS5219M Quantitative Methods for International Business (80), LUBS5224M Economics for Business (75),
LUBS5232M International Strategic Management (79) and LUBS5270M Chinese Business (77). Furthermore,
his graduation dissertation was excellent and awarded the highest mark of the cohort, 83. His dissertation
demonstrates his knowledge and ability in research and his potential to undertake more challenging
research projects in the future.
Mr Örk studied on the MSc International Business programme which is ranked number one in the world by
Financial Times in 2014 in the international business area (“Top for International Business” league table in
Masters in Management). As programme director, I am proud to see that he has benefited from his study
with us and has aspired to pursue an academic career. In my observation, he is extremely passionate about
research and investigation and has demonstrated the ability to do so and learn fast.
I have no reason to doubt Mr Örk’s honesty or integrity based on my knowledge of him as a student and the
information he has disclosed to me.
I think that Mr Örk would be highly suited to study at your organization and I wish him every success in his
application!
Yours sincerely,
