How to Authenticate This Official PDF Transcript
From Ashford University
This official PDF transcript has been transmitted electronically to the recipient, and is intended solely for use
by that recipient. It is not permissible to replicate this document or forward it to any person or organization
other than the identified recipient. Release of this record or disclosure of its contents to any third party
without written consent of the record owner is prohibited.
This official transcript has been digitally signed and therefore contains special characteristics. This document
will reveal a digital certificate that has been applied to the transcript, and for optimal results, we recommend
that this document is viewed with the latest version of Adobe® Acrobat or Adobe® Reader; it will reveal a
digital certificate that has been applied to the transcript. This digital certificate will appear in a pop-up
screen or status bar on the document, display a blue ribbon, and declare that the document was certified by
Ashford University, with a valid certificate issued by GlobalSign CA for Adobe®. This document certification
can be validated by clicking on the Signature Properties of the document.
The blue ribbon symbol is your assurance that the digital certificate is valid, the document is
authentic, and the contents of the transcript have not been altered.
If the transcript does not display a valid certification and signature message, reject this transcript
immediately. An invalid digital certificate display means either the digital signature is not authentic,
or the document has been altered. The digital signature can also be revoked by the transcript
office if there is cause, and digital signatures can expire. A document with an invalid digital
signature display should be rejected.
Lastly, one other possible message, Author Unknown, can have two possible meanings: The
certificate is a self-signed certificate or has been issued by an unknown or untrusted certificate
authority and therefore has not been trusted, or the revocation check could not complete. If you
receive this message make sure you are properly connected to the internet. If you have a
connection and you still cannot validate the digital certificate on-line, reject this document.
The current version of Adobe® Reader is free of charge, and available for immediate download at
http://www.adobe.com.
If you require further information regarding the authenticity of this transcript, you may email or call the
Transcript Office at the Ashford University at transcriptrequest@ashford.edu or 1-866-711-1700.

ACCREDITATION
Ashford University is accredited by WASC Senior College and University
Commission, 985 Atlantic Avenue, Suite 100, Alameda, CA 94501,
510.748.9001. Prior to November 2013, Ashford University was accredited
by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central
Association of Colleges and Schools. The Iowa Department of Education
accredits the Teacher Education programs. Ashford University was
formerly known as The Franciscan University (of the Prairies) 12/02 - 3/05
and Mount St. Clare College 1918 - 11/02.
CALENDAR
Ashford University’s Clinton Campus courses are offered during two
traditional 16-week semesters, one each in the fall and spring. A limited
number of course offerings are also available during shorter May term (3
weeks) and summer term (6 weeks) sessions on the Clinton Campus.
Ashford University’s online course delivery consists of accelerated courses
where a three credit course at the undergraduate level is 5 weeks in
length, and a three credit graduate level course is 6 weeks in length. There
is an annual two-week Winter Break when courses are not scheduled for
the accelerated online format.
STANDING
Undergraduate students must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point
average (CGPA) of 2.00 to remain in good academic standing. Graduate
students must maintain a 3.00 CGPA. All students must also successfully
complete 67% of all attempted credits to remain in good standing.
Students who do not meet this criteria for Satisfactory Academic Progress
at the time of review are placed on academic probation.
HONOR SOCIETIES
Honor society memberships printed on the transcript recognize
distinguished student scholarship in a variety of subject matters.
CREDIT
Credit is awarded in semester hours. Prior to fall 1993, an “R” designated a
course was repeated and the first grade was removed from the transcript.
Beginning fall 1993, the original grade remains on the transcript with a
designation of “R” beside it. The second grade earned in the course is
used in computing the cumulative grade point average. P/F designates
Pass/Fail. Credit earned on a pass/fail basis will count toward degree
requirements although grade points will not be earned. Institutional credit
is awarded for courses numbered below the 100 level but credits earned
below the 100 level do not apply to a degree. The grade “WF” (failure to
officially withdraw) was discontinued fall 1997. The grade “WF”
(Withdrawn Fail) was reinstated in July 2009. The “R” designation was
discontinued in the beginning of fall 1998. A repeated course is
designated by zero (0) credits and ** shown on transcript for initial
enrollment in course. Select courses may be repeated for credit.
TRANSFER CREDIT
Transfer credit applicable to the student’s degree program is noted on the
transcript. However, between August 2005 and January 2012, total
transferrable credit from other institutions was included on the transcript,
even though credits may not have been applicable to the student’s degree
program. Grades are not transferred in, and transfer credit hours are not
included in the computations of the institutional grade point average.
