the guidance provided.
2. List at least three things to find a lost item and provide reasons for

Lesson plan Year 5

  • 1. Subject : English Class : 5 Cemerlang Enrolment : 43 Date/ Day : 02.09.15/ Wednesday Time : 8.40 a.m. -9.40 a.m. Duration : 60 minutes Level of pupils : Advanced Theme : World of Self, Family and Friends Topic : Lost and Found Module : Writing Content Standards Learning Standards 3.1 By the end of the 6- year primary schooling, pupils will be able to form letters and words in neat legible print including cursive writing. 3.1.1 Able to write in neat legible print with correct spelling: (b) paragraphs Behavioural Objectives : By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: 1. Write about experience of losing an item in form of a paragraph based on the guidance provided. 2. List at least three things to find a lost item and provide reasons for choosing those things. CCE/ EE : Language Content : Instructional Materials : Video, projector, speaker, laptop, PPT slides, tasksheets. Previous Knowledge : Pupils have discussed about their lost items in the previous lesson. Thinking skills - Provide reasons for choosing the kits and how to use the kits to find the lost items. - Think of suitable things to be used to look for the lost item. Moral value - Take care of own belongings. Vocabulary - laptop, notepad, compass, camera, magnifying glass, pen, gloves, torch

Stage / Time Content Teaching/ Learning Activities Rationale Remarks Set Induction (±5 minutes) Nursery rhyme  Topic: Lost and Found  Title of the nursery rhyme: Little Bo Beep Has Lost her Sheep  Question: - What is the lesson about today? 1. Teacher displays a video of nursery rhyme using the projector. 2. Pupils watch the video. 3. Teacher asks pupils to identify the topic of the day. 4. Teacher tells and writes the topic on the board.  To arouse pupils’ curiosity  To develop some initial idea related to the topic  To recall pupils’ prior knowledge  Resources: Video, projector, speaker, laptop Presentation (±15 minutes) Bubble map  Vocabulary: laptop, notepad, compass, camera, magnifying glass, pen, gloves, torch 1. Teacher shows a bubble map on detective kit. 2. Pupils are asked to list things that they would like to have in the detective kit. 3. Pupils identify functions of the things. 4. Teacher displays and explains the functions of certain kits.  To give input to the pupils  Resources: PPT slides, laptop, projector. Practice (±20 minutes) Write about experience of losing an item in form of a paragraph Questions: - What did you lose? - Where did it happen? - When did it happen? - What did you do about it? - How did you feel when you lost it? - Did you find the lost item? - What are the items in the detective kits that you used to find it? - What did you learn from the experience? 1. Pupils are given tasksheet each. 2. Teacher explains the instructions and provides questions to help the pupils. 3. Pupils are to think of an item that they have lost before and write their experience in a paragraph. in the form of cursive writing3 4. Pupils are given time to complete the task. 5. Teacher monitors the pupils and provides guidance if necessary. 6. Teacher selects few pupils to read aloud about their lost item. 7. Teacher emphasizes and cultivates the moral values among the pupils.  To test pupils’ understanding  Resource: PPT slides, projector, laptop, tasksheet  Moral value: Take care of own belongings.
