TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY
A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITY
 Opening prayer
 Greetings
Good Morning my Dear Students!
 Checking of Attendance
Let us check first your attendance. Say present
once I call your name.
Is everybody called?
 Motivation
Let’s do an energizer first.
 Review of the past lesson
Before we proceed to our next topic, let us have a brief
recap of things you remember way back in your Grade
3 lesson about plants.
So, I have something here. What
do you think is it called? Or
what can you say about it?
Okay, then do you have plants
in your home?
What are the plants that you
were able to talked about in your
last discussion about plants?
What have you observe with those plants?
B. LESSON PROPER
This time we will move on to our discussion for today.
We are going to talk about plants. Specifically, its parts
The students will stand up to the
pray and sits down after praying.
The students will greet back the
teacher.
The students will say Present once
their name is called.
The students says either Yes or No
Ma’am!
The students will sing and perform
the song entitled “Green Green
Grass”.
Students expresses their answer.
Students will either say Yes or No,
Ma’am!
Students will speak out their
answer.
Students will answer.
and function.
Are you ready to listen my students?!
Before anything, let’s define a plant first.
PLANT- a living thing that grows in the ground,
usually has leaves or flowers, and needs sun and water
to survive.
Let’s go back to the plant a while ago.
Can you name a part of a plant?
Very good class!
There are 4 parts of a plant. These are the roots,
stem, leaf, and flower.
I have here the name of the parts of a plant and a
picture of a plant. Who can put them in the picture
beside on their respective parts?
Okay, let’s see if your answers are correct.
So class, what are the parts of a plant?
The students will either say Yes or
No, Ma’am!
The students listens to the teacher.
The students will state an answer.
The students go to the board and
paste the names of plant beside the
respective part.
The students listens to the teacher.
Very good class!
Now that you know the parts of plant, let’s now
know what the functions of it are.
ROOTS
 Roots are the underground part of a plant.
 They are the major part that anchors the plant
firmly in the soil.
 They absorb water and minerals from the soil,
synthesize plant growth regulators, and store
reserve food material.
Plant Roots Tree Roots
STEM
 is the part of the plant above the ground.
 The stem provides support to the plant.
 They also protect the plant and help in vegetative
propagation.
Plant Stems
Trunks
• The stem of a tree is
called trunk and is
covered with bark.
LEAF/LEAVES
 Capture sunlight to make food for the plant.
 Leaves are the most important part of a plant.
 They contain chlorophyll that helps the plants to
prepare their food using sunlight, carbon dioxide
and water.
FLOWERS
 Flowers are the most beautiful and colorful part of
a plant.
 They are the reproductive part of a plant. A flower
has four major parts, namely,
Petals: It is the colorful part of a flower which attracts
insects and birds.
Sepals: Sepals are green
leafy parts present under
petals and protect the flower
buds from damage
Stamens: This is the male
part of the flower consisting
of anther and filament.
Pistil: This is the female part of the flower consisting
of stigma, style, and ovary.
FRUIT
• Fruits contain seeds
• Fruits are the main feature of a flowering plant.
So, those are all the parts of a plant.
Have you understood?
Do you have questions or something to clarify?
C. POST ACTIVITY
Class, let’s have an activity to see if you really learned
about our topic.
GROUP ACTIVITY: “Show Me Where I Belong”
Direction: Divide the class into 4 groups. Each group
will be given a set of pictures. For 10 minutes all group
must be able to classify the given set of picture
according to its parts. After classifying, in their
respective group places 4 students must stand and hold
the pictures of a certain part.
V. EVALUATION
A. QUESTIONS
Direction: Circle the correct answer.
1. It is a living thing that grows in the ground, usually
has leaves or flowers, and needs sun and water to
survive.
a. Plant b. trunk
The students answers.
The students will ask if they have
questions if otherwise they will
remain silent or say No Ma’am.
The students will do the count off
from 1 to 4. They will go to their
respective places and listens to the
instruction. They will do the
activity for 10 minutes. Afterwards
they will present their work.
The students get a piece of paper.
They will write down their answers
for each number.
When all is finished answering,
they will exchange their papers and
do the checking.
