Lesson 23:
Routine: 5´
Purpose: to start the lesson, get students into mood for work,
establish rapport.
I´ll get into the classroom and greet students: “Hello! How are you today?”
EA: “Hello, fine!”
I´ll write the date on the board and I´ll ask them to put their names on the
desk as the last class to remember their names: “Have you got the pieces
of paper with your names? Ok, good! Remember to put it on your desk,
please! If you haven´t got it, write your name again!”
Transition: Very good! Thank you! Let´s start!
Warm-up 10´:
Purpose: to introduce the topic and teaching points.
I´ll stick a poster on the board in order to introduce some new adjectives
and nouns.
3. At the same time, I will ask the students some questions while pointing to
the pictures:
T: “What´s this? Is it a full glass?”
S: Yes, it is.
T: Is the book old or new?
S: “It is new.
T: Is it thin?
S: No, it isn´t.”
I´ll introduce some new vocabulary (glass, book, man, dumbbell, feather,
box, necklace, street/pathway)
I´ll write the following on the board:
A full glass – An empty glass
A thick book – A thin book
A poor man – A rich man
A heavy dumbbell – A light feather
And so on.
4. Transition: “Good! Now it´s your turn”
Presentation 10´:
Purpose: to further exposure the learners to the target language.
The students will be sitting on their seats. I´ll have an object in a bag. It is
the mystery object (a metal box). With this guessing game students will
be introduced to the adjectives order.
I´ll pose some questions related to what they´ll do later, and then I´ll
hand in the next activity so as to focus on language.
I´ll guide students saying the following:
“Are you ready to guess?“Well, it is a cheap object…It is an empty object…It
is a light object…It is a black object…It is a small object. What is it? The
mystery object is…..”
They will try to guess and after some attempts I will show my object.
Transition: Good job! Let´s play a game together!
Development
ACTIVITY 1 - 15’
Purpose: this activity is aimed at fostering contextualized practice
of the teaching points.
I will form four groups. They will read the text in order to guess the
object. Then, they will tick the ones that are NOT mentioned in the text.
The first group that finishes the activities will have the possibility to start
the game in the next activity.
5. (This is just a photo from the phone; I will take the copies from the
original book)
Transition: “Oh excellent job”
BREAK: 10´
ACTIVITY 2: 20’
Purpose: this activity is aimed at recognizing contextualized
practice of adjectives + nouns.
They will continue working in groups. I´ll give each group a bag with
object that I will select at home.
6. Students will have to make five questions and guess what it is inside the
other group´s bag.
I´ll write an example on the board to guide them to ask and answer.
Example: Group 1 to Group 2
G1: Is it an expensive object?
G2: Yes, it is.
G1: Is it a light object?
G2: Yes, it is.
G1: Is it a smart phone?
G2: Yes, it is!!!
The poster I presented at the beginning of the lesson plan will be stuck
on the wall in order to have a visual support.
Transition: Very good! You did it well!
ACTIVITY 3: 15´
Purpose: this activity is aimed to recognize the use of adjectives +
nouns in sentences.
At this stage, students will work individually in order to check
comprehension and they will revise some points they have learnt before.
I will show and put on the desk an object. It will be a book.
They will write sentences using the new structure and vocabulary
(adjectives + nouns) and at the same time they´ll revise the vocabulary
they have learnt.
“Look at the object and write four sentences. For example: What is it?
It´s an old book. / It´s a new book. Are you ready?”
I will write an example on the board and I´ll be monitoring the students´
work. After finishing the activity, I will ask some students to read the
answers aloud in order to check.
Transition: Very well done students! Great job!
Closure 5´: I will thank the group and the teacher for being so kind with
me, for sharing this period and helping me to carry out the lessons.
“Have a nice week and go on working!”
