Materials: Computer, speakers, mp3 file of the song, teacher photo, vocabulary
flashcards, pictures of famous people, whiteboard, color markers, Cardboard.

3. 1. Warm Up (3 min)

ESL Song - "She's Tall" Describing People
I will perform a warm-up activity to engage my students, my students like music, I consider music is an
extraordinary motivator for any class, so I'm going to play a song to get all the energy out of my
students. Students will sing and dance the song with me. The song introduces vocabulary about the
physical appearance of people.
4. 2. Activate student´s schemata (5 min)
- I will show students my family photo and I will present to my
students my family members.
- I will ask students to say any words they know to describe
people on the photo (The way that someone looks and
characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving).
- I´ll give some examples if needed:
He is tall, He is serious, He is polite, He has short hair.
She is young, she is funny, she is friendly. She has Brown eyes
Baby girl is short, She is happy, she has black hair,
She seems smart, shy, extrovert.
- I´ll write student ideas on the board.
5. Memory game (20 min)
How to play: Each player takes a turn by turning two
cards over (word car and a picture card). If the cards
match, then the player picks up the cards and keeps
them. If they don't match, the player turns the cards back
over.
- I´ll have some new vocabulary.
- I´ll explain that there are two kinds of adjectives for
describing people, those that refer to appearance, and
those that refer to personality.
- I´ll ask students what is the difference between
personality and appearance?
- I´ll divide the board in two parts and I´ll ask students to
separate the words into the two categories of
personality and appearance.

6. Activity 1: Talking and Drawing (20 minutes)
- Students will work in couples. l´ll give one student some pictures about famous people (student´s
favorite singer, actor, footballer), and I´ll give the partner a blank sheet of paper.
- The students with the pictures will describe the photos to their partner. And students with the blank
papers will draw what they hear. Afterwards, students will compare the drawings and photographs
and they can change roles. This can be very funny.
4. Practical Activities

7. Activity 2: Guess who is? (20 minutes)
I´ll lay out all of pictures on the floor. (Football players of Colombia) l´ll choose a picture and Start by
saying "My friend has (short, brown) hair, he is (tall) and he has (green) eyes". Students will ask
questions to try to figure out who the person is. Examples: Is it a man? Is he tall/ handsome/ kind?
Does she have black hair? Does he seem intelligent? The student who guesses correctly get extra
points.
8. Activity 3: Find someone who… (20 minutes)
Students will ask one classmate one question and
the answer is written in the box. After a mutual
interview exchange, students can move on to find
another classmate to speak with. When the chart is
filled students share the information they collected.
Finally, elicit any especially interesting information
your learners may have discovered. Has a shy brother

9. Talking about photographs
1. Students will choose a photo which they have on their mobiles. In
pairs students can talk about their own photographs using appearance
and personality adjectives.
2. Students will make a poster with a picture and a short description (50
words) about their own photo. I will Monitor and feed in vocabulary as
necessary.
This lesson gives students the chance to talk about their photos and
then write a description of a favorite photo.
